Reviews:
Fantastic quality. The tone is great and although I have other overdrive pedals like Boss, this one has immediately gone on my pedalboard. Love the noise gate button addition and the equalisers mean you can change the feel really easily. Also it’s a little smaller than expected which means it fits great on the board. Front centre! Delivered quickly too so happy with the service from PMT!Mark W.
What you don't hear in the demo videos is NOISE, but life is full of compromise. Low budget? No place to open up 50 or 100 watts? It does have nice tone characteristics. I have 3 different to test drive. A Blackstar Stereo 20, Marshall MG10, Carvin SX50 – It definitely adds to the built in varity of the Blackstar; okay with the Carvin; sounds like crap with the Marshall. You can not "overdrive" the amps natural overdrive. You have to run it into a realitivly clean sound. The noise gate peters out the signal on sustained notes, which can be taxing. I have a Charvel So Cal, Fender Tele Player, and a Kramer Beretta: the effect of your guitar's sound is marginal. The difference is in your amp. The Bottom Line: I say, test a floor model, through different amps at the music store. If you like it, buy one USED from SamAshDirect… But if you want THAT EVH SOUND – buy an amp… And keep shredding!icor57-2
This overdrive pedal is used by many pros now in their pedal chain to layer gain stages and I fully understand why now. The noise gate is an excellent addition to my chain, smooth saturation and warm distortion to screaming high gains. Don't be afraid to turn the knobs really low, you will be much more impressed if you do and will likely have better results. This staged with a tube screamer, a TC micro boost and an MXR EQ pedal is a killer setup for stage or studio. Plug in and rock!Gypsy Bones

Reviews:
I have multiple versions and original iterations of all the "IT" pedals to have after being caught up in this pedal Renaissance and YouTube demo-verse. This pedal has totally blown me away and literally the only thing I'd change about this is the size. I have full grown human feet and these mini pedals are kinda ridiculous. If you want more pedals on a board, get a bigger board for crying out loud. Anyways. I really haven't had to adjust the knobs much because it sounds so good at the settings I've had it at (out of the box for the most part) Played through a Marshall, Supro and a Fender. This pedal still retains amp qualities but adds the goods. For the price you can't beat it. Take it from a guy with a full blown drive pedal addiction that this one has satiated me for the time being. Happy hunting.Jesse S
It's a nice OD pedal. Nothing really earthshaking about it – despite the popularity of this circuit in Nashville. I do prefer it over a Tube Screamer (outside of tightening an overdriven Marshall). I don't love the extra small size of it, because the knobs are a bit too close to the footswitch for anyone who's on-stage foot skills aren't perfect.Joe B
I bought the Belle for light distortion after watching professional guitarists on YouTube, speak about the "secret" tone of the original Nobel's odr-1. The Belle provides just a little grit to my otherwise clean sounding '65 deluxe reverb. It's perfect for that by itself or stacked with other overdrives. It's a permanent fixture on my pedal board. (Great for adding thickness to all my single coil guitars,)Frogg
3. Mxr – Csp039 – Duke Of Tone – Overdrive Pedal
Product Details:
Designed in conjunction with indie pedal builder analog man, the mxr duke of tone overdrive is for players who want to add a touch of warmth and grit to their rig while allowing the natural tone and feel of their high-end gear to shine. based on the prince of tone overdrive, the single-channel version of the king of tone overdrive, this pedal is a vintage connoisseur’s dream come true. analog mike personally tested and matched all of the various thru-hole components to the king of tone overdrive, ensuring that sweet sonic seasoning stays in the line of succession: a warm-yet-clear-and-open sound that allows all of the nuances of your signal chain to come through, from your individual guitar strings to the dynamics of your amp’s tubes. the duke of tone overdrive likewise carries forward the same simple-yet-effective control interface. volume, drive, and tone knobs cover all your basic tweaks while the boost/od/distortion switch allows you to set the overall attitude of the pedal’s output. boost mode gives you a clean-yet-vigorous bump, od mode adds a touch of grit and compression, and distortion mode adds a touch more of each. in all modes, your rig still sounds like your rig. don’t be afraid to get creative—the duke of tone overdrive is excellent when stacked with other gain pedals, and running the pedal on 18v will give you an extra helping of headroom and clarity, especially in boost mode. for a sound that’s yours, but only more of it, you can’t do better than the duke of tone overdrive from mxr and analog man. put one on your pedalboard, and elevate your signal chain.

Reviews:

Reviews:
I normally play flamenco guitar and have a very good acoustic amp I use for flamenco. I acquired an electric guitar, and needed a vintage overdrive sound, but I didn't want to buy another guitar amplifier. This unit does exactly what I need, providing a good range of distortion from mild to heavy, transforming my acoustic amp into what sounds more like a vintage tube amp. My wife likes the sound of the acoustic amp and TO800 combo, which surprised me because she usually doesn't care much for the sound of electric guitars. I'm very happy with this unit. I would highly recommend purchasing a power supply with the TO800. I discovered it goes through batteries much faster than I had anticipated.Timothy
I got this pedal to use with a low gain amp at rehearsals. I didn't want to drag out my regular board or take it apart. I was looking for an inexpensive overdrive pedal. I saw this , read the reviews and said what the heck. I actually got the pedal for free as I had enough reward points. I regularly use a Boss Blues Driver which I have had for over ten years. I got the pedal and hooked it up and was pleasantly surprised. It is very comparable to my Blues Driver. It accepts both my Dunlop nine volt adapters and my One Spot power supplies. The case is metal. I may even incorporate it into my regular board for another degree of overdrive. If you are considering trying an OD pedal, you can't go wrong with this. I am a semi professional guitarist with over fifty years of playing experience. I use tube amps and mainly American Fender guitars. I know what I'm talking about. An OD pedal is not the same as a distortion pedal. The purpose of an OD is to push you're amp to a higher gain level than it may be capable of or to give you a little more guts when playing a lead without changing the settings on your amp. I mainly play blues, classic rock and country rock. I don't need the OD when playing through my Marshall.Doctor J
The Good: The sound of this thing is great for grimy, doom metal. It's easy to use, sounds great, and has a decent depth of customization. The Bad: You have to press in the hinges on the pedal itself as the battery is under the pedal. It was scratched up before I even got to play it because of this. There's no reason the manufacturer could not have just put a small door in the bottom of the unit like every other pedal I've ever used. Also, the first time I changed the battery, the negative wire pulled out of the connector. I've decided that since I already bought it and like the way it sounds, I'm going to jury-rig a battery connector outside the main body. It'll look like cr4p, but I'll be able to use it without damaging it further and won't have to spend extra for a 110v adapter. I had read about the difficulty changing the battery, but figured I'd give it a shot because it's got so low-priced. Had I gone to a brink and mortar store and seen it, I would not have purchased this unit. If someone already has an adapter they plan on using with it, by all means do so.Russ G

Reviews:
This pedal sounds great. I got it because I'm a huge fan of Sabbath and Iommis sound. This thing really cooks, but calling it a drive pedal is a bit misleading. This pedal won't clean up all the way and you will always have some fuzz or distortion. I don't mind but it would be nice if it had a clean drive included. This is basically a high gain fuzzy treble booster. You can get some really biting drive with the gain down, or full on fuzzbucket with gain up. The range and presence knobs put the treble into another stratosphere, and can also help this pedal to provide a really nice distortion to some other pedals. I tried it with a catalin echorec and an eathquaker afterneath and it sounded great. All in all fun pedal and the Sabbath riffs really just start pouring out when you plug in. They really captured the spirit of Tony Iommi's style.thegoodsoldier216
I bought this in June of 2015 and I love it for not only Sabbath tones but just a general overdrive pedal with or without a tubescreamer before it, boosting it. I like the gain low & the Range & Presence high! The Range control is where the magic is! Crank up the Range knob to get Tony Iommi to come out of this pedal & show you how it's done! He used a Dallas Rangemaster treble booster to get that fuzzy, pointy, almost uncontrollable loud and in your face tone that we've all tried to emulate forever! And this pedal has that treble booster circuit under the "Range" knob! It's so loud that I keep the pedal's volume knob around a quarter of the way up, and the volume knob is labeled VOL.4 ,how awesome is that? Use this pedal at your own risk!Dalton

Reviews:
Bought this for low gain. Even with gain on zero and toggle down on a clean valve amp there was so much gain ! Also trying to get more mid area even made the gain more again? If you like lots of gain this is a pedal to think about. However if you want low gain with no saturation and gain that increases rather than there a zero steer clear. Very disappointed.DLF
The small box is just what I needed to get those slash tones for my covers band, it does all the Marshall crunch tones without the unnecessary over the top gain tones but reacts beautifully when pushed with a boost to give you fantastic leads! It sits perfectly within the band mix! Made up With my purchase, and PMT customer service was a fantastic experience, super fast delivery and communication at every step! Top notch!!Patricia W.

Reviews:
Seeing all the positive reviews, maybe I am the one doing something wrong – BUT, I’ve been playing around with my Dual Fusion, plugging into a Fender Super Reverb, and I can’t find a lead or rhythm tone that doesn’t sound flat with no character. The vintage setting sounds good, but I could emulate the same thing with a Boss Blues Driver.. the modern setting is just super flat sounding and sounds like the tone is WAY too compressed, as if I’m hearing my amp from inside another room. It’s not articulate, at all. Good luck not getting immediate feedback when trying to use both channels, as well. I’m going to keep experimenting at different volumes and settings, but thus far all the good things I’ve read about this pedal have not come into fruition.Kevin Ruane
I like the versatility of this pedal. I'm able to find the sound I like for jazz fusion. It's well made, but I wish it had an easier access to the battery than having to take off the whole back plate with 4 screws. I guess most people, like myself, will use it with an power adapter so I guess it's not that big of a deal. I recommend this unit, but don't take my advice, look up videos on youtube and judge for yourself.mlucich
9. Origin Effects Revivaldrive Ghosting Overdrive
Product Details:
Revivaldrive – real amp overdrive housing an unabridged valve amp-style signal path recreated in analogue electronics, the revivaldrive accurately delivers a wide range of british and american amp tones, from clean to fully cranked. with valve and silicon rectifier channels, a built-in mid boost and unique controls that will tailor its output to the amp you’re using, this may be the last overdrive pedal you will ever need. when it comes to overdrive, nothing comes close to the sound of a vintage non-master-volume valve amp. so when origin set out to design the revivaldrive, they began by looking not at other pedals but at amps. they listened to and analysed countless classic amps to figure what made them sound so good. then they figured out how to reproduce not just one but all of those sounds in a pedal, with controls that would allow the player to precisely dial in each one – or to mix and match different elements to create something new.

Reviews:
Painfully expensive, but worth every penny!! It's not just a sound, it's a feel and that's the bit you don't get from the reviews. It feels like a real amp, it responds to your guitar volume and your playing dynamics like nothing else I have used It's build quality is second to none.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
expensive pedals but i never had something like this. this pedals is just unique it's not just a regular drive pedal. this circuit is based on vintage amps circuits and it does it really well. you can get marshall plexi / vox ac30 and fender like tones easy! its also a heavier pedal and somewhat larger than common but this is quality. maybe i'll buy his big brother next thanks Musicstore.
It's big, it's heavy, it has a lot of knobs, and it the most amp-like drive pedal I've ever used. Unlike many amp in a box type pedals, this pedal attempts to recreate amps at a circuit level rather than producing a polished, idealized amp tone. As such, it can be a little trebly and harsh depending on the settings. Like the amps it endeavors to recreate, it will allow you to dial in terrible tones. It may take a little work to dial it in but it's worth the effort. I recommend taking a few minutes to read the manual. All the knobs and switches may seem complicated at first but they're really not. Some are dedicated to dialing in amp tones and some are dedicated to tweaking EQ to match whatever you're plugging into. It didn't take me long to get good tones using my Fender '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb. I'm an old school kind of player in that I like to use the guitar volume and pick dynamics to control grit and this pedal delivers in that respect. Pick softly and it cleans up nicely. Slam it and it gets gnarly — just like a tube amp. However, if you want hotrodded, super high gain tones you may need to hit the front end with an overdrive or boost. My only gripe is having to use the external switch if I want the mid controls engaged on both channels. I've found that I prefer it that way but it's not a big deal. I understand that there's only so much functionality that can be squeezed in without having to go to a bigger enclosure. It's amazing how much they managed to squeeze in. Overall, I find the the Custom Revival Drive, like the Cali76, to be a great piece of gear.Todd

Reviews:
This is definitely a legit piece of kit… I'm a big fan of Dallas Rangemaster-style overdrives to push my tube amps into a heavy sweat… and this thing definitely comes from the same family… but is more neutral in tone and adds a 6 way selector knob to ratchet from "lite boost to OMG". The description is really accurate… the first 3 give a nice light clean boost that you might use "always on" and then the top 3 actually introduce significant heaps of distortion and drive. Tone is fairly neutral… shaves the bass a bit and adds a tiny bit of highs/mids, but not overwhelming skewed in any direction, (i.e. not as abrasive as a flat-out "treble booster" pedal would be).. The feel is really organic, responsive and chewy… the results you get are going to heavily depend on what guitar and amp you use this with… but in general it's gonna make them sound hotter and fatter… if you like that, then you'll like this pedal. I don't know if it sounds much like Jimmy Page… but it definitely does sound cool.donny danger
I use this pedal in front of my Fender 007 Bassbreaker. It is a match made in heaven. The Breakup selection from 1-6 gives incredible variety. I usually wait at least a week before applying velcro to my pedals to make sure I like it. This pedal had velcro by the end of the day. Well worth the 6+ weeks I had to wait to receive it. I like to play classic rock as well as hair metal. Hope this helps.Buffalo Bob

Great pedal. What a revelation. In my setup the noises coming out of the speakers a full/thick/clear/powerful… If you want something that can blow the walls down AND react well to you messing with the potentiometer on the guitar (yes, the Volume pot), this is certainly worth a try.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
Simple, quality pedal. The only way to get closer to the Trainwreck tone is to buy a Trainwreck amp for 10k….tycopsycho

I was looking for a boost pedal to drive an old Gibson GA-25 with a Strat. The Archer sounds above and beyond. It has plenty of volume to drive the amp and setting the gain between 10 and 2 and rolling off the treble smooths out the crunch while still maintaining it character. Used it with a Plexi 100 and a Twin Reverb as well as a Rickenbacker, Tele, and Les Paul with the same result. The Archer sounds fantastic and each amp and guitar sounds like that amp or guitar. Worked the same on other pedals. Used it to drive an OCD and it the perfect bump without having to use an amp with complicated switching. No noise from the pedal while toggling on or off. Treble knob is super useful to smooth out or add clarity. It was really easy to dial it in and there's a pretty wide sweet spot. It's super responsive to picking and fingering. I kinda want to buy another to have an Archer drive an Archer. Would that be weird?Nickname
The pedal is small and therefore pedalboard-friendly but is still built like a tank. The knobs and switch feel totally quality stuff, the chassis is rock-solid and good looking. This pedal can be used, just like a Klon Centaur, as a clean boost up to a mild unique sounding overdrive. It gives you plenty of volume and headroom (you generally have to keep the volume knob close to zero if you want to match the bypass volume) and the Gain control is very accurate and allows you to shape your tone just as you desire. It is a great blues or rock pedal and gives its best if put on top of a tube amp that's almost breaking up but you can still use it, as a regular drive pedal, in front of a clean amp and it's guaranteed to sound better than most of the amplifiers' internal gain stages. Not a cheap pedal, in line with its main competitors, but definitely worth the price. If you want a Klon-like quality pedal that really gives you the Klon feeling without destroying your wallet, the Archer is a perfect choice.reptile_breath
I used heavy fuzzes for many years, I decided a few years ago to switch to something different. Been switching between the germanium ocd and the Xotic BB preamp last few years. The Archer does what I was looking for. Sounds great with my guitar volume slightly turned down. I've never used one of those real klons. But I now can understand why everyone likes em. Put a good compression pedal in front of it and it will almost sing.Duane

At a point several years back I only owned Active Basses, but in the space of two months proceeded to acquire several High-End Basses with Passive Electronics, I was in need for something in my signal chain to raise the output of the Passives to the level of my Active Basses. I took the advice of a close friend who's a true "Professional Bassist" who also knows a great deal about the technical issues of Pedalboards, Large-Scale Amplification and such and picked up the Xotic Bass RC Booster which was the highest-quality he could recommend (I'd rather spend the money once rather than upgrade from a "Beginner's Pedal" to a "Midrange Model" and so on…) That was once of the best pieces of advice I've been given in terms of gear, as to this day the Bass RC Booster is a main piece of equipment on my Pedalboard. Between the 2-Band EQ, Gain & Volume controls I'm able to raise the level of my own Passive Basses or a Bass that I'm using at a Jam or Open Mic to the levels of my Active Bass, which I have all adjusted to Unity Gain as to cause as little issues as possible. Two surprising use of note: with a minimal increase in Volume the Pedal becomes just as useful as a Volume Boost to both Passive & Active Basses for solos, drum 'n bass breakdowns and other times where it's necessary to step out into the spotlight a bit more. Secondly, when the Gain is pushed towards the higher registers you can even can a quite useable "SVT"-type Overdrive. Even players who play with a clean tone will certainly find this added bonus helpful in both live and studio situations. To sum up the Xotic RC Bass Booster, it's an extremely high build-and sonic quality, low noise & versatile Boost effect. Its additional use as a light Overdrive effects is just as effective in its field. I use this often on my Pedalboard, and would replace it immediately if it were lost or stolen. A bit pricey when initially purchasing, it makes up for that as you're buying a Professional Quality effect, and would not have any need to replace with a "better one" a year or so down the road. This is all one would need to cover this area of effects!
I have an Xotic AC Booster and it is one of my fav pedals. At the start of my chain – after the buffer – I have a Compressor, then an old DOD Preamp 250, followed by my AC. I like the sound, but had this setup for a while and was just looking to shake things up. I thought the RC ver 2 would be a great replacement for the DOD as what could be better than 2 xotics in series? Well, not this! The Comp (Wampler Ego; another pedal I like alot) did not play well with the RC. The sound was muddy and lost all definition. The RC alone was OK, but not great. Found the effect of Gain 1 to be pretty darn subtle and really not much better than my old DOD gain pedal. Had to crank RC Gain 1 to full CW to hear much – a very different pedal from the AC which is super responsive. I also found the adjustment for the RC Gain 2 pot to be very awkward for a quick adjustment onstage as is occasionally necessary between songs. So, I was pretty bummed out as I love the AC and I use an Xotic EP booster for regular lead boosts. Just did not work out for me. Hard to decide if I would recommend the RC. Personally, I am very picky about effects, usually use only 2 at most at one time (e.g. Comp + AC; EQ + Delay, etc.) . So I think i would say that I do not recommend…but you may like it.BCY123
I'm surprised at how much I use this pedal. I bought it to boost the signal of passive basses and it does that and a lot more. The EQ points are right where you need them. And because you can preset those as well as the volume, when you switch to a passive bass in the middle of a live performance there is no time wasted fiddling with knobs trying to match the sound of your active bass. Also it's useful as a clean boost on active basses for those times when your hands are busy and you can't adjust your amp in the middle of a song. Just pre-set the pedal to a little boost and any time you need it, you've got it with a quick stomp of the foot. The third use I find for this pedal is with effects. You can use it to put a little boost before any overdrive/distortion pedal it will increase the gain. I love this because I like the sound of the Morning Glory pedal, but it doesn't get quite dirty enough. Most pedals that get as dirty as I want don't sound the way the Morning Glory does so this is perfect for me. And the other way it's useful is to add bottom end to distortion pedals (which are famous for not supporting the low end very well). Preset a little bass boost and when you stomp the overdrive/distortion pedal also click on the Xotic RC.PDGood

From slight dirt to full on creamy plexi distortion. It’s all there. Cleans up with the guitar volume knob. Pairs well with other exotic effects. I have two SL drives, one for grit and the other set for lead, as well as an exotic AC booster before to add a bit of boost. I run the EP booster at the end for nice volume boost. Synergy with all exotic effects.Charlie
I chose the SL Drive from a huge amount of drives on the market as I wanted something that fit on a small pedalboard, could provide a Marshall style sound at all gain levels as an alternative to amp gain, and which could work well with the BB MB pre-amp also by Xotic. This pedal really delivers. Although it takes time to set up and find the best sounds for personal preference, it provides a variety of useful tones across the spectra of volume, gain, and equalisation. The design is just so thoughtful and I like the possibility of running it at 18v, although at the moment 9v is better to my ears. Recommended as a piece of gear that should fit with most set-ups.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
I've had the SL drive for awhile now and try as I might I can't find anything that can kick it off my board. I've tried numerous other amp in a box pedals(Marshall and otherwise),overdrives and distortions but I keep coming back to this little guy. I guess I keep trying because I find it hard to believe that a pedal this small and this inexpensive(relatively) can't be outdone. I use this in conjunction with a standard Tumnus and the 2 together just can't be beat for me and I'm done spending $ trying.mike smith

Super pedal …. has alot of character, and very flexible for complementing one's setup. If this circuit is indeed the closest yet to a true Klon, then I now see what all the hoopla has been about …. though I would never have even considered going after one of those ridiculously priced after-market Klon's. But with a price under $200, this is definitely a good deal. I would recommend this pedal for any player who wants a top-drawer clean boost, and the extended flexibility of merging in various levels of tasty overdrive. Also, the Ikon works very well with other pedals in one's chain, both before & after the Ikon. Rgds.abradfordajb
This is the most versatile overdrive I have ever had. Not only does the gain offer a wide – and always clear – range, the tone actually does something! Quite a lot, actually. The video on this v the silver model v an original Klon were very useful. I chose this one as it seemed a tad warmer, better suited to my mainly humbucker sound. But I would say I have found some great tones also with a Tele, Strat & Ricky, so that ‘best ever’ rating.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
This pedal is very versatile drive pedal. I could easily see 2 of these on my board. As a clean boost, it works very well and creates a very smooth creamy tone, but when the drive gets set above 10 oclock, you start to see some crunch added in. Around 12 and above, you hit some serious overdrive/distortion. This replaced a Tumnus Deluxe, which is also a great pedal, but it did pretty much what my tubescreamer did, but this pedal stands out! I've used this for Rhythm and Lead guitar with many different guitars and it works well with gain around 11am-1pm, level around 12, and treble around 12. I get lots of compliments on my tone and I'm glad I purchased this.Eric j

Once I played around with it and worked out how best to use it the thing sounds awesome. Probably the best and most functional OD pedal I've owned over 28 years of playing. Better than the OCD I once had. It works best pushing an amp on the verge of break up. Makes a Blackstar HT1R sound awesome through headphones or cab. With all the knobs and switches it continues to keep me occupied looking for different tones. The only downside is I now want the GT500 and FD3 Black aswell!Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

This pedal is for users who are very capable at dialling in. Equally this pedal makes for a good starter pedal if you just want to experience overdrive and what that does to your sound. But for everyone else, I think the natural mid boost gives a little too much mud to be a popular pedal board decision over more modern pedals. Like many of you, I can get some good stuff out of this pedal, but unlike some other pedals – I have to put in elbow grease to get there.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
The main difference in a Tube Screamer and the Boss SD-1 is the type of clipping. SD-1 utilizes asymmetrical clipping, and a Tube Screamer uses symmetrical clipping. They both have a mid-hump as for as the EQ curve. You can use them both as boosts into other pedals or amps. As straight up overdrives, the Tube Screamer often sounds like a layer of dirty and a layer of clean, where as with the SD-1, you get the single layer of dirty because of the circuit's clipping type. Either are great. Some prefer one over the other. I have both the TS and the Boss. Either work great with many configurations, and in some cases you might prefer one to the other with a particular setup. I have more than one tube amp, and I have a variety of pedals that I use on this one or that one.agentsalarm
After watching a few John5 interviews it dawned on me he doesn't use many pedals. But this is one he does use, so got me interested. Did some homework Dagan mentioned it on the pedal review and I thought yeah let's get it. Amazing pedal built like a tank, super tough. Currently I have just this an a NS-2. I only have a cheaper Blackstar Amp but this paired with passive-pickups sounds epic! I have this wired into the send and receive jacks on the NS-2 and it sounds the best.Bradley B.

Amazing little pedal, set the internal DIP to flat and not the "vintage" roll off (my opinion) even if you use zero level boost the overall buffering and sweetening to your signal is just better. Once on, you will forget about it (end of chain, after drives) only when you switch it off you'll realize, "oh yeah that makes everything sound better". What it does to the EQ and overall signal tone is unlike any other pedal I have used including all so called "based on EP3 boost circuit" stuff. Had mine on the board for years now, still nothing has bumped it. The GOAT always on pedal! Try it.Paul
The line boost really brings out the amp's potential tonality. Cuts through the mix and really enhances the amp's tonal character. Currently running it in front of a Blackstar 100 watt tube head that is paired with a Marshall 1960 Vintage cab equipped with Celestion V 75's. The sound is great. The pedal's choice of using a 9V battery or direct power plug makes it even more versatile compared to other pedals that only run on a power source. Great little pedal.ZenCat
This is a great boost pedal, no doubt about that. I bought this used for less than half the price and while it does exactly what it should I have used boost pedals that are nearly identical that are at half this retail price point. If you have a lot of money to burn and are looking for the best boost this very well might be it, however this money may be better spent on a pedal that is more versatile and more noticeable in the overall sound of your pedal chain. This pedal is a clean boost and only flavors your sound slightly, and what it adds sounds very natural and very good; the build quality is top-notch aswell. So my rating is based on the fact that I feel such basic circuitry shouldn't cost as much as this does, and I would highly recommend buying this on the used market if you can get a nice discounted price.Rareintech

I play at home. I have tried many pedals, ODs and distortions, etc. I have a few nicer guitars with great humbuckers. I have a Peavey 6505 tube amp and a Carvin for clean stuff. From my experience, with my stuff, the Nobels is very nice. It can be used for lots of styles and I really like the looks of it. Looks kinda retro. I got rid of a lot of pedals but this one stayed. Highly recommended.Sam
I was looking for a natural sounding OD that doesnt colour the signal too much. The ODR-1BC does the job perfectly. Exactly what I was looking for . The drive adds anything between almost zero gain to quite significant saturation. As the drive is turned up, there is a boost in some high frequencies and these can be tamed by turning down the "Spectrum" facility. You can match your amp and get great warm and creamy OD sounds in no time.Trefor R.
I have tried several different overdrive pedals including a few that were considerably more expensive than this one. The Nobels OD-1 is the best sounding one yet. The bass switch is also a plus, so make sure the one you buy has it. The three control knobs are the same as others, but seem to be more effective allowing me to get exactly the sound I am looking for. The Nobels OD-1 has been around for a long time, and a favorite for many musicians and now I know why. It's a great pedal at a fair price and is my new #1.stellarview
20. Catalinbread Sft Overdrive Pedal
Product Details:
Same insides but with new artwork! the catalinbread sft is an ampeg inspired foundation overdrive that bridges the "get yer ya-ya's out (stones) and the desert sound (stoner) eras. weve always been smitten by ampeg. early on the company was a jazz purist company, completely overlooking (possibly looking down on) more popular genres like country & western and rock that fender and marshall openly embraced. from a design standpoint they took more queues from the hifi world than they did from guitarists as evidenced by their tube complements, gain stages without cathode capacitors, and implementation of the baxandall tone controls. and they were no slouches to innovation either, flip-top combos is a great example. not to mention there is at least one model of amplifier that had a torsion bar to adjust the tightness of the speaker baffle!

This pedal does what it is supposed to. Everything from clean platform to Stones to roaring fuzz. After trying the Tweed pedals, I prefer this all day long. Better, more powerful EQ that is easily tailored to multiple guitars. I love being able to have bassy mush as well as tight, focused overdrive. So many tones in this one, and ultra tweakable.aparrotlooksat40
