Reviews:
Overall: Whether you're trying to dial in a wet surf rock reverb or an ambient shoegaze tone with lots of atmosphere, this pedal can do it all. This is hands down the best pedal I've ever purchased and far surpasses any other reverb pedal I've heard. You can even tweaked it to make it sound like a proper spring reverb unit on an old fender amp. There's also a handy shimmer effect you can use to get some angelic and synth-like tones, which can sound monolithic accompanied with a fuzz. I'd recommend this pedal for any style of playing, as it's one of the most versatile ones on the market right now. Also since it's Boss it's built like an absolute tank. Need quality slap back, surf, or shoegaze type reverb? This is the unit for you.Alex
I use a few different brands of pedals and Boss makes solid pedals. This rv6 pedal makes a great variety of reverbs that sound very good with cleans, on every setting. I play with a few different distortions. It is very difficult to dial in a good reverb sound with too much distortion. The level setting has to be low and the sensitivity of the effects are boosted and that makes it very hard to easily swap from clean to dirty without major changes. Dirty will require serious tweaking. I would give it a 3 star because it's not friendly to dirty, but I'll give it 4 stars just because the cleans really do sound great and the variety and quality of sounds are in a price range well below many other reverbs of this caliber. It's a BOSS, a tank. I did mess with the shimmer with crunch and low level and found some decent sounds.Ghostpuncher
I got this as a catch-all reverb to round out a basic pedal board I use for home practice and hobby recording. First off, all the "usual suspect" reverb tones sound really great in the effects loop of my Bogner Atma combo. I had read reviews of the RV6 where it had been criticized for sounding digital/grainy, but I preferred it over the Oceans and HOF2 I compared it to. I classify myself as a somewhat fussy "toan snob" who still prefers tubes and analog, so I wonder if maybe that "digital/grainy" complaint was with it going straight in, out in front of the preamp. I'll have to get around to trying it like an outboard spring verb sometime. I really dig the shimmer verb, especially with a flanged, overdriven lead tone. I need to get an expression pedal now and play around with oscillating that! Last thing I want to compliment is the helpful buffer the Boss adds at the tail end of my board. I pretty much have no loss now. Kudos to Boss for yet another solid product!Lee B.

Reviews:
I was looking for a boost pedal to drive an old Gibson GA-25 with a Strat. The Archer sounds above and beyond. It has plenty of volume to drive the amp and setting the gain between 10 and 2 and rolling off the treble smooths out the crunch while still maintaining it character. Used it with a Plexi 100 and a Twin Reverb as well as a Rickenbacker, Tele, and Les Paul with the same result. The Archer sounds fantastic and each amp and guitar sounds like that amp or guitar. Worked the same on other pedals. Used it to drive an OCD and it the perfect bump without having to use an amp with complicated switching. No noise from the pedal while toggling on or off. Treble knob is super useful to smooth out or add clarity. It was really easy to dial it in and there's a pretty wide sweet spot. It's super responsive to picking and fingering. I kinda want to buy another to have an Archer drive an Archer. Would that be weird?Nickname
The pedal is small and therefore pedalboard-friendly but is still built like a tank. The knobs and switch feel totally quality stuff, the chassis is rock-solid and good looking. This pedal can be used, just like a Klon Centaur, as a clean boost up to a mild unique sounding overdrive. It gives you plenty of volume and headroom (you generally have to keep the volume knob close to zero if you want to match the bypass volume) and the Gain control is very accurate and allows you to shape your tone just as you desire. It is a great blues or rock pedal and gives its best if put on top of a tube amp that's almost breaking up but you can still use it, as a regular drive pedal, in front of a clean amp and it's guaranteed to sound better than most of the amplifiers' internal gain stages. Not a cheap pedal, in line with its main competitors, but definitely worth the price. If you want a Klon-like quality pedal that really gives you the Klon feeling without destroying your wallet, the Archer is a perfect choice.reptile_breath
I used heavy fuzzes for many years, I decided a few years ago to switch to something different. Been switching between the germanium ocd and the Xotic BB preamp last few years. The Archer does what I was looking for. Sounds great with my guitar volume slightly turned down. I've never used one of those real klons. But I now can understand why everyone likes em. Put a good compression pedal in front of it and it will almost sing.Duane

4. Earthquaker Devices Park Fuzz Sound Pedal
Product Details:
Earthquaker devices, in collaboration with the newly-resurrected park amplification, have faithfully recreated the park fuzz sound so that a new generation may enjoy it. the new park fuzz sound uses a different set of nos germanium transistors, hand-selected for a tonal match. indeed, when a/bd with the original unit, the sounds were strikingly similar. in fact, the staff at pgs was split right down the middle as to which was which. whats more, when doing the test, earthquaker devices had to set the new park fuzz sounds fuzz control at about half, whereas the original was dimed. the reissue has way more range in the fuzz dial than the original. the new park fuzz sound is hand-made, one at a time in exotic akron, ohio. the pedal is wire for true bypass and accepts a standard 9v centre-negative boss-style power adapter. the current draw is low, so its ready for your isolated power supplies.

Reviews:
This is my favorite fuzz pedal. I have a handful too. I have owned several tone bender type pedals and this is by far the best. Its way more versatile than a straight TB clone because of the addition of the tone knob. The tone is fairly bright. Never shrill though. You can dial in a more bass heavy sound, but the high end is never lost. The fuzz is very musical, and not too compressed and muddy with tons of dynamics. I can play everything from classic rock, blues, to doom metal on this thing. It really is an incredible pedal. The sound is one You will love. I have a Gibson SG, 78 Ibanez LP clone and a Gretsch 5122, run through a Blues Deluxe. They all sound great, especially with the BD. It sounds even better if you add a slight amount of overdrive (i use a super hard on), it gains articulation that way. You can hear every note on a chord. Highly recommended. The Okayest Guitarist in Town, m
I highly recommend the EQD Palisades OD. I have had it for a few months and you will not be disappointed. Modeled after the classic TS808, this pedal can crank out all of your favorite OD sounds and more. Two gain stages, a clean boost, 6 clipping voices and 5 bandwidth settings give you ultimate control to dial in that killer sound. The Palisades also offers a built-in buffer and and a Bright switch to help dial in that perfect tone. Another high-quality EQD pedal that you should definitely have on your board.Knox
The best Overdrive on the market. It gives me several variations in tone while enhancing harmonics. Provides me with way more options than what a Tube Screamer could. The EQD Palisades makes my already great amp better. EQD really do think outside of the box, and If you want to take your tone to the next level, these are the pedals .Marky S,

Reviews:
How odd. This review was flagged for writing Big Mu** using the two F's 🙂 For the money, this is a really hard pedal to beat. It goes from mild and laid-back to wild and intense. The controls feel great…like as in excellent quality. This is a reissue of the original Big Mu** PI. I tried a Big Mu** PI with Wicker and forget about it. It hissed so loud in Wicker mode that I couldn't even here myself think and it got even worse with the tone switch off. And even in the so-called Big Mu** PI mode, it didn't sound anywhere near as good as this Rams Head does. And, the Rams Head is quiet compared to the BM PI with Wicker. One more thing, The BM PI with Wicker does not say anywhere on it nor in the included paperwork where it's made, whereas the RH BM PI clearly says New York City on the face of it…Vincent
The tone sweep is nice and there are some interesting spots because it is linear while kind of non-linear at 10 to noon and about 1-2 on tone control. I can't say why but usually I had purchased like more expensive versions of ehx pedals. That being said, I think people need to realize that these are quite accurate reissues and circuits, and just because it is an affordable pedal doesn't mean it isn't great.
Overall: Floats like a stone and stings like a nest of angry hornets! This box has the buzzsaw sound down pat. The fuzz is a thick, smooth, and consistent. I like this kind of fuzz in particular because it’s less fuzzy and little more distortion-like. The Tone knob has a really wide sweep from boomy bass to mid-range Hades. It has plenty of gain on tap and even sounds pretty good with the guitar’s volume rolled back a skosh.I’ve never used the original Green Russian Muff and have only heard them compared through videos online, so I can’t speak as to how they’re different/alike. I got it because I didn’t want to haul my vintage Black Russian Muff around from gig to gig anymore because it’s getting valuable and since it was a pretty jenky design to begin with, it’s liable to break with heavy use. That being said, the reissue Green Russian Muff has a different sound than an original V8 Black Russian Muff. It doesn’t sound as good to me, but it’s not so different that I wouldn’t use the Green Russian live in lieu of the Black Russian for the aforementioned reasons. One huge plus for the Green Russian is its pedalboard friendly size. The Black Russian is the size of an 80s metal lunchbox and took up an awkward sized chunk of the pedalboard. Now there’s more room for other unnecessary boxes (gulp)! One noteworthy ding for this pedal is how difficult it is to see the script on the top of the pedal. The words are printed right underneath the knobs, so if it’s kinda dark (which it usually is) and the lights are all in front of you (which they usually are) the words are impossible to see. Overall it’s a nice fuzz especially for the price. It’s noisy, but once the music gets rolling you won’t even notice it.Brad
6. Jhs Pedals Charlie Brown V4 Overdrive/distortion Guitar Effects Pedal
Product Details:
The classic jtm45's are loaded with warm, rich character that makes a stratocaster sing and a les paul scream. our charlie brown is voiced to transform any good amp into a living, breathing replica of the tone that built an era of classic rock & roll. the charlie brown v4 builds on the popularity of the v3 by keeping the same heart and soul while giving more flexibility and options. the drive knob controls the amount of dirt or overdrive in the path. with the drive below 50%, it is a low gain grit overdrive that even hendrix would be proud to turn on. when you get into the upper half of the drive control, you will find a new world of natural, crunchy bite that stands alone in our line of overdrives. max it out and you will be in high gain overdrive heaven. new to the v4 are the bass, mids, and treble controls, to faithfully replicate a vintage marshall. all three of these controls act as a cut and boost. only works with a standard 9v dc negative power supply (not included).

Reviews:
"I got a ROCK!" – Charlie Brown This pedal is an awesome JTM45 emulator. It can get those nice Marshall sparkles, and it is more than capable of driving your amp through a wall. This pedal is super articulate and can give any amp that classic brown sound. I have AB'd this pedal and a 1990's Marshall Drivemaster. Both the JHS and Marshall are copies of the 1990's Marshall Guv'nor pedal. There is almost no difference between the pedals (which is a great thing) and the Charlie Brown is quite a bit quieter. If you dig the sounds of Angus Young and classic Marshall models, give this guy a chance. JHS Pedals are crazy sturdy, so you never have to worry about some blockhead damaging or breaking it. Sam Ash Employee Review
This is the best overdrive pedal ever!! I am a tone snob and have had or tried pretty much everything over the years (at least once!). I was a HUGE Marshall fan throughout the years. I have always been very leery of distortion pedals as most never really sounded that good. In fact, when I played out, I always A/B/Y'd at least two Marshall half stacks for rhythm/boost to get that true tube tone. After turning 50 I sold everything and retired. The only thing I kept was my 1965 original Fender Princeton to noodle on. I got the itch to start playing again and heard about JHS pedals. I bought the Angry Charlie as it promised "Marshall tones." Came a few days ago and I fired it up. Holy moly!! This pedal is PHENOMINAL!!! Very responsive and the tone/volume/drive knobs are very sensitive and responsive!! I played it with my Firebird V and Music Man Albert Lee. This gosh darn little Princeton truly sounds like an old school Marshall!! This pedal is worth EVERY PENNY!! I cannot recommend it enough!!Axe Man
I love this thing! I wanted a pedal that would be a great hi gain option for my pedal board, and this won my pedal shoot out. I think this thing is perfectly balanced for what it is. While the distortion sound my hearken to an 80's or 90's tone more instead of a modern metal tone, the range of distortion you can get can go from hard rock all the way to metal. The EQ controls make it especially versatile. I also like how you could really hear all of the notes when you play a chord, but it still maintained that grit you get from a Marhsall's distortion. Plenty of low end; again, the EQ on this thing is great. This has to be one of the best distortion pedals on the market. Throughout my playing career I've always wanted a Marshall Shredmaster, but they are harder and harder to come by in good condition. I think this pedal fills that void particularly well. Hi gain, Marshall goodness. I run this pedal through clean tube amps, which I think is the best use for it. If you have a clean sounding tube amp but want that Marshall stack in the box type thing, this pedal is your guy.Yergi
7. Sonicake Distortion Pedal For Electric Guitar Shark 3 Modes Normal, Modern, Classic High Gain Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal True Bypass
Product Details:
Sonicake shark is a triple-mode distortion guitar effects pedal, providing the classic, crushing hot rod marshall stack crunch/distortion tone, which is rich, dynamic, and most importantly, like all the marshalls, loud! flipping the toggle up, you get the normal mode, which is a classic marshall-stack rocking crunch tone, which basically define the sound of rock n' roll. keeping the toggle at middle, you get the modern mode, an edgier and more aggressive hi-gain tone, focused and with a little tighter low end, which is perfect for modern shredding and riffage. flipping it down, there is the classic mode, a vintage voicing, a bit less gain, designed to reproduce the tonal mojos all the old-time heroes, hendrix, clapton, page, blackmore… you name it. special design of led indicated knobs shows the control of tone and level, as well as the work state of the pedal; heavy duty, black, metal casing. 100% analog british sound distortion takes you from classic marshall-stack crunch to high gain paradise. tube-amp-like dynamic response brings great definition and clarity from warm/smooth playing to cutting lead solos. 3-mode tone shaping provides a detailed voicing taste tweaking. true bypass footswitch keeps a clean signal path. working with 9v center negative regular pedal power supply(not included).

Reviews:
I suppose for a specific type of sound for someone this could suffice. I have other options and have used other inexpensive distortion units for decades. Just lacks Sonic character, dynamics and didn't add anything positive to my sound. I DO really like their volume/wah mini pedal…they are all well-made and terrific. I wanted to support this product but it was a disappointment. Do your reviews carefully before deciding.spacecoaster44
I'm a studio engineer and have 7 different chorus pedals most name brand and are expensive but for the price.., this pedal cannot be beaten. Put this together with a couple of other pedals and you will never look back. Lush Setting is absolutely killer. Good quality construction and noise free. I play and record in stereo but for the price you can easily afford 2 of these sweet sounding pedals. Hey for the money you cant lose.818eleven11

Product Details:
Get the best of classic and modern octave tones with the boss oc-5 super octave pedal for electric guitars and basses. this pedal combines a spot-on recreation of the legendary oc-2 with modern enhancements for scultping your octavized tone. vintage mode will give you the sound of the original pedal, albeit with better tracking for instantaneous octavized sounds. poly mode allows you to track chords perfectly, complete with its range knob on the -2 octave. new to the oc framework is an octave-up control, to give you sounds reminiscent of a 12-string guitar, or to enable you to play fat triple-octave lines. this pedal offers a bass/guitar switch, so you can better tune the voicing for your particular instrument. if you wish to route the isolated octavized tone to its own destination, you can, thanks to a dedicated direct output. otherwise, the pedal gives you the classic 1/4" instrument i/o path for traditional pedalboard implementations.

Reviews:
This pedal manages to deliver in every application. Vintage mode is my favorite, and the tracking is excellent (but also delightfully glitchy as was the OC-2). Poly mode with the adjustable lower octave is very useful as well. Unlike other octave pedals this thing sounds incredibly fat, with a nice mid-heavy octave sound that really cuts through a mix. And as usual, boss pedals are built like a tank.Todd
Still doing some tweaking since I've only had it a week. The tracking it pretty amazing and the option to dial in how many strings you want to have affected in the Poly mode is a great addition to it's multiple options. So far I've gotten some some very desireable sounds and expect to get many more out of this built like a tank great Boss pedal. If you want a great octave pedal, this is it IMO. The shopping experience with Sam Ash was first rate as well!Pat B
I`m using this effect on bass just to have another trick in the bag, to me it sounds better on the D & G strings. It doesn`t come with a power supply and it is very picky about it. I`m using it with rechargeable 9 V batteries in order to avoid another cable on the floor and it will last me for about 10 hours. With batteries pay attention to the LED, the moment you see it dim replace the battery or it will stop sounding in no time.If that happen performing, you can remove the output cable and plug it into the "direct out" jack until you can replace the battery. And yes, it will drain out the battery if you have the cable connected to the pedal even if the pedal is "off" that`s why I replace the battery before a performance or practice with the band.Or you can use a power supply and avoid all this.Made in Malaysia. It is solid and well made.Alex

Reviews:
A balanced metal distortion with a tight crisp sound. Not overly harsh like a lot of pedals, but maybe not enough bite if you want an extreme sound. The boost modes and tone controls a low for a nice variety of sound options. It takes time to dial everything in but Im surprised by how much character this pedal has. I read a lot of reviews and watched videos looking for something that was metal but balanced and this is spot on. Note that it does not have an internal battery compartment, you will need a power supply.Old metalhead
First things first, this thing is tiny, and it is POWERFUL. I don't think I've ever had the gain past noon, because I've never needed to. My amp is by no means a super high gain monster (EL84 circuit, 1×12 combo), but this pedal makes it one. For the kind of stuff I like to play (80s thrash, early death metal), I think it does a really good job. Between the three switch positions and a really flexible tone knob, you can get a really wide range of usable tones with it. When I showed it to my brother (a much better player than me, with a lot better gear), he was astonished when I told him the price. I almost had to pry him away from the thing. If there are complaints to be had, I have to echo one of the previous reviews in saying that the hi-boost adds almost too much highs to be useful. But I guess if you switch to a neck pickup and roll off the tone, it can be okay. If this one breaks (hopefully not), I'll definitely replace it with more of the same.Eric

From the sputtering glitches caused by a dying battery to the thick and smooth sound of fully saturated fuzz, the electro-harmonix ripped speaker stompbox pedal delivers the essence of fuzz distortion created through old-school methods. whether its a sliced speaker cone, a tube that has rattled loose, or a bad mixer channel, electric guitarists love the special low-fuzz character these abnormal conditions yield. at high fuzz settings, the ripped speaker produces huge, cutting tone that can push leads out in front of the band. in addition to having adjustable fuzz and volume, this stompbox offers controls for bias and tone. since the bias determines how the ripped speaker will clip the top and bottom of the waveform, a twist of the knob takes it from fat and crisp to choppy and gated. utilizing a tilt-style eq circuit, the tone pot can emphasize the lows and soften the treble, brighten the top end while reducing the bass, or just keep the timbre flat and balanced. power the ripped speaker with the included 9v battery, use a separately available power adapter, or integrate it into your pedalboard's power system.

I wanted to simplify my stage setup. The Donner Alpha Cruncher 3 has three of my most used effects, so I thought I would give it a try. It has exceeded my expectations, the effect is great, the noise level is nonexistent. And the PRICE!! Less than the cost of one pedal of other brands. It is built solid, very sturdy case and and good positive switches.Motorhead
Playing a mandolin through it, works very well, mandolin sounds great with everything switched on!mike5012tx
The chorus effect was okay. The distortion was unusable and the delay was not much better.ratedlexx

Sounds great. Also surprising versatility with the HP/LP settings. One criticism is that its very loud. Slotting in after 2 boosts and an OD, then before a fuzz has played havoc with my gain structure as, with those other pedals operating within normal vol ranges, I've found the volume on the OCD needs to be most of the way down when using drive greater than 12-o-clock which is even more noticeable on the HP setting. Btw, that's into a highish headroom amp so if you were using the OCD to further drive an already breaking up amp into much more compression then probably not that great an issueReviewed by Andertons Music Co.
I needed something to stack along side of my TS that did not overpower the sound of the other pedal or sound too thick on its own. This pedal sounds fantastic with single coil pickups and pairs extremely well with other OD pedals. I like the fact it can run on either battery, 9V, or 18V AC connections, making this a great choice if you have limited ports on your power supply. On its own, it stands out very well when dialing up the drive settings and it sounds absolutely great coming through a properly dimed tube amplifier. It is no coincidence you see these pedals on the boards of many great professional players… This box just has excellent tone and all their products are handmade in the USA with plenty of care involved–making them a quality purchase. I am looking at collecting a couple of other earlier versions as some have tonal differences that work better with other set ups. Overall very satisfied with this purchase.built_for_speed
I've owned the Fulltone OCD for just over a week now and I can confidently say it's the best overdrive effects pedal I've ever had the pleasure of using. It has a sturdy build, it's versatile, it retains the original tone and colour of your guitar/amp combo and it's LOUD! I wanted a pedal that would fit compliment my '65 Twin Reverb Reissue amp and Telecaster, I love the tone of my setup but I really needed some bite in the shape of a good overdrive. After doing some research and seeing the name Fulltone OCD pop up again and again I started to get very curious about this pedal, the clincher was when I saw it on the pedal board of a guitarist on youtube who was showing off some of my favourite licks! I'm glad I chose the OCD. The fact that new OCD stock routinely goes out of stock shortly after going on sale on most websites should tell you everything! Recommended.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Reviews:
First off, it's clear the earlier reviewer is doubling up on the his preamps by running this into the front end of his tube amp. This almost always results in shrillness, because of the duplication of the preamp phase. The fact that this (and similar Joyo pedals) has a preamp built in is not spelled out in the marketing of these pedals, but it makes a huge difference in how it should be used. Use this (or any similar Joyo "sound series" or Tech 21 character pedal) as your only preamp and bypass the preamp on your amp by going to the "effects return". With that said, this pedal sounds great. It does what it claims (Vox tone) and gives you plenty of control over the amount of gain and tone eq. The built-in cabinet simulator is sorta weak. It's good enough for clean tones, but it doesn't quite remove the upper-midrange fizz and harshness that you always get with high-gain tones going direct. If you plan to use this for direct recording, add some IR's to in in your VST plugins on the track. If you're planing to use it to go direct-to-board in a live setting, I'd recommend an additional cab simulator. I personally use the Donner DI for this. It finishes the job that the pedals built-in cab sim isn't quite pulling off. But otherwise, if you're using it as a preamp into apower amp and cabs, it sounds great.swmorgan515
So far this is my favorite pedal…I was initially skeptical as I had purchased a JOYO product in the past and recall that I was unimpressed. I am still marginally dissatisfied with the "quality" of these budget pedals. But HEY…! it is just that, a budget product yet given what this thing does, it really does not matter. It sounds fantastic. In fact, if it does not last for more than a couple of years and ultimately craters (which I seriously doubt) I'll just buy another one or two… perhaps I ought to stock up now as I suspect these may become legendary and ahem… pricey.fo_538729
This AC Tone Amp Simulator does everything it's advertised to do. I am a solo guitar/vocalist with self-played and recorded backing tracks and on my larger gigs I take my Vox AC15, miccing it through my PA for a bit of extra presence. On my smaller gigs I have found that the AC Tone directly through the PA gives me the Vox sound I love – with saturation that would have me believe I am playing through the AC15. Very pleased with this pedal and very pleased with the service I have received from Artist Guitars.Trevor Judge

20. Red Panda Raster 2 Digital Delay Pedal
Product Details:
The raster is a digital delay with a pitch and frequency shifter integrated into the feedback loop. forward or reverse delay can be shifted once or have continuously shifted repeats. it delivers a wide range of sounds including modulated and harmonized delays, reverse delays, chorus, arpeggios, infinite descents, chaotic self-oscillation, and continuously evolving soundscapes. the core of the raster is a clean delay with up to 1600 milliseconds of delay time. three delay ranges allow you to precisely dial in resonant feedback sounds and instantly change delay time with rhythmic shifts. the feedback control has infinite repeats at 3 o’clock and chaotic, textured feedback loops at higher levels. knob responses are carefully tuned for exploration of self-oscillation and feedback on the verge of blowing up. a tone control sweeps from dark analog-style repeats to digital clarity and emphasizes the attack at higher settings. the left and right delay times can be set as a ratio, so a single knob changes both in sync. the two delay channels can be arranged in series, parallel or ping pong. pitch shifting repeats up or down in semitone steps creates tempo-synced arpeggios and alien organ sounds. the detune setting can dial in micro pitch shifts and chorused repeats. the left and right channels can be shifted by the same amount, a ratio, or opposite directions. at subtle settings, repeats evolve in a way that sounds natural, but different from analog delays. beyond pitch shifting, a combination phase/frequency shifter creates subtle evolving repeats, dissonant harmonies, and barber pole flanging. it can be pushed to extremes for ring modulation and inharmonic shifted delays that distort and break apart. the raster’s modulation section has seven waveforms that can be assigned to delay time, pitch shift, or amplitude (for tremolo).
