I had and have high expectations for this unit. So far, it has been able to do nearly everything I've tried and I'm assuming some of the things I've failed at will be possible once I'm more familiar with the unit. So far I've done the following: 1. connected 3 midi devices (note: you will need probably need a midi thru box which is another 50) and send messages to each to turn on or switch their programs when I change patches on the es-5. I also have assigned CC messages to the assign button so I can do things like the divebomb effect in the Black Keys' Lonely Boy without using a pedal (just hit the channel switch, and it bombs until I let up the switch and it returns to pitch – this is achieved by connecting to my Whammy DT). 2. Connected 5 pedals in the loops and have dozens of patches created to turn on and off individual ones. I've also created many patches that allow me to hit the channel switch and turn on or off multiple loops at a time (guitar solo). 3. I've set up my banks to all be 1 bank per song. On some, I've created completely different sounds going from patch 1 to another. In others, I've created different options (turning off and on different patches on midi controlled pedals so I have different sounds to choose from for a song depending on what sound I like that day). In others, I've created versions of the 1st patch but bumped up and down by 3dB when I'm not sure how it will sound in a group environment (so I can quickly bump up or down the volume based on the patch). 4. Reasigned the 5th patch in each bank to mute. Things I haven't been able to do: 1. Fender 2 button amp switches have a resistor that controls whether the channel or reverb is being turned on/off via a mono cable. There appears to be no way to incorporate this in the es-5. 2. I have a boss EV-5 clone and tried using it to control various effects on my Mobius, Boss ME5, and Line6 M5 but failed. 3. No group switch (I reassigned the mute switch to group up).macjohn
Overall: I can't tell you how long I've been using BOSS and Roland products, but somehow I haven't thought of anything to say. Even though I've enjoyed their products throughout the years performing and recording with them. Well first it's affordable. After scouring the internet looking for a innovative, powerful switching system where the price was right, I finally came across the BOSS ES 8. Even though it arrived a little late in the pro switching system game, their incredible features and a doable price was just what the doctor ordered. Second, it's built like a tank and can handle the road for extensive touring. BOSS never makes flimsy products IMHO. An important feature I admire the most is that no matter where you place pedals on your pedal board, the ES-8 will allow you to place each pedal in any order. Because of that and it's powerful MIDI features, I'm able to assign any of my fourteen pedals in any order in any patch and bank. Yes, fourteen. You don't have to settle for just eight pedals on your board because you see eight programable switches. As with all of there products, even though the programming is easy, the possibilities is limitless. After I've spent some time with it to see how best it could serve my needs in the studio and during live performances, I came to the conclusion that I've made the right choice purchasing this product. It's a beautiful tool that will be in my arsenal for some years to come.Clifford
Overall: So…I am blown away at how versatile this thing is! Far more than I expected. First, it does what it is supposed to do, turns effects on and off in any order as you would expect. Second, you can change the order of your effects without moving pedals, run them in parallel when the input of one pedal would adversely affect the next pedal in your chain (priceless IMO), and switching is fast and quiet (no popping or delay). Third, You can use the MIDI function to control amp channel switching (I play through a Marshall JVM 410H). Every function of my rig is literally one step away. The best of a rack system without the rack and the simplicity of a pedal board. These cats thought of pretty much everything. You can even use the mute button as a bank up or down button so you don't have to run through the banks 1-5 before you can get back to the bank you want. Takes some reading to get going, but once you figure out the first patch the rest is pretty simple. Much more to this thing than meets the eye. I was pleasantly surprised!Keith

As a 62 year old musician I'm not into technology and the X5 did not come with the updated version i.e no Tuner etc. It took me quite some time to figure out how to download the latest version and I found it extremely difficult to try and solve the issue. The on-line instructions make it so easy and yet when I followed them to the letter I could not get it to load. Finally I managed to load it…how I still don't know! I recently broke down my kit just to simplify everything in an ampless/recording/playing/streaming setup that works incredibly well for all those things. The Plethora offers an All I Need in One Unit – almost. I've put a compressor/Boost and the Broadcaster AP in front of it, and looped everything and out of a Simplifier. Modulation sounds, specifically Delays and Reverbs are my Jam, and the Plethora delivers. Having as many as I need on tap is where we're going here, and the options with Toneprint are vast. Then we can tweak. There's also plenty of scope to experiment and look for inspiration, so in all it looks to be a great value proposition for most. I think that TC Electronic realised that most people are going to have a favourite Overdrive pedal, so the omission of any digital replica is actually welcomed from me. (Seriously – you've gotta try the Broadcaster!) It was between this and a Helix Stomp XL. In the end I figured I could live without the amp sims, and I prefer the user interface and less menu diving with the XL. They sound the same to me. There's always room for improvement somewhere. Another loop might have been good, and the looper function is perhaps lacking in full functionality for some, but it's enough to keep you ticking over. Great piece of kit with masses of options and available sounds – potential to replace a fair few pedals in my collection – plus giving me more sounds that I wouldn't use often enough to warrant buying a specific pedal. Can setup boards for specific songs and/or different band or jam scenarios. Future firmware drops hold potential for additional features so the future looks good – for no additional cost! Editing sounds live as per regular stomp boxes is easy if that's your preference so all bases are covered. It's a nice pedal as utility pedal for only needing the one effect. Enjoying the tremolo, reverb, flangers. You can set the effect to a preset (up to 24) and flip through them on the fly. Renaming the effect is a pain, having to use the dials! The distortion effects are weak but can be used with your dirty channel to be usable like using a fuzz otherwise it sounds thin and not usable. I'm not having any grounding issues and I have it powered through a pedal board brick. I have it running in front of an orange tube amps.BJ
About 100 pedals models for less than £100. Some in stereo and can be output in stereo or mono. Straight out of the box some models sound very good to me, I especially like the tremolos, some of the reverbs and delays. Also I quite like one of the chorus models (an effect that does not usually use) and one of the overdrives. Have to try tweaking the uni vibe and phasers but I'm sure there will be useable sounds in there My rating for sounds reflects my view that I find some bad and others excellent. It has plenty of features, is well made with a sturdy metal enclose, comes with its own power supply and is easy to use. This pedal is perfect for anyone who is running their complex delay/reverb/ambience stuff in an effects loop, but needs a 'swiss army knife' pedal for effects that need to go in front of the amp (distortion, wah, phaser, etc.). I was playing in the pit for our local HS musical last fall (they haven't had any electric guitarists…or bassists or drummers for that matter… in the student population for the last 7-8 years…I blame vocalist-centric reality TV shows….but I digress). The show was "Sister Act" and, unlike the R&B tinged '92 movie, the (2006) stage musical is all late 70's disco style. Needless to say, I needed a wah-wah pedal. Instead of shelling out the same amount for a decent 'one-trick-pony' wah pedal, I opted for this unit, as I have been looking for a multi-function 'in-front-of-the-amp' pedal for a while, and I already had an expression pedal for my keyboard. My expression pedal was the dirt cheap M-Audio plastic one that, according to Line6's own website, shouldn't work with this unit…except it did. Yes, even when toggling the "M-Audio/Other" switch on the underside of the pedal, at first It either didn't work at all, or worked backwards. But then, I discovered the genius programming built into this little gem. If you rock the EXP pedal either fullup or full down, you can manually set the heel/toe values for ANY of the 5 adjustable parameters in a given effect. SO…….In the tube/tape delay effect, for example, I have it set so the repeats, drive/gain, and "wow/flutter" all increase (each by individually set amounts) when I rock the EXP pedal from heel to toe. Add to that the fact that this is a dual stomp switch pedal with a dedicated tap-tempo switch, and you have an ultra-controlable delay unit. My only niggle is in the auto-wah/'tron' department. While they have a few dynamics-based filter effects models, only one is a dedicated Mu-Tron/envelope-filter type effect. What's more, since they only have the one model, and only 5 adjustable parameters, they decided to allot some of those 5 precious parameter knobs to things like "high-/low-/band-pass filter" and left out the crucial "sensitivity" setting. My rig is old-school; vintage non-master-volume amp + tube screamer + THD Hotplate. All my gain/distortion is controlled via my guitar's volume knob. The problem is, with no 'sensitivity' setting on the 'Tron' effect model, you only get decent results if your guitar volume is full up on or near 10. Unfortunately, most of the situations where you want to use this type of effect are with a relatively clean tone. But, since I can only get said cleaner tone by rolling back my guitar's volume, I don't have enough signal to trigger the wah effect. Instead of including some of the 'cool-but-of-limited-usefulness' models like "Comet Trails" in this section of the pedal, I wish Line6 would have had multiple 'Tron' models (high-/low-/band-pass) with sensitivity parameter adjustments all 'round. Full disclosure; what with my fore mentioned rig, I have not at all explored the distortion section of this pedal, and thus cannot comment on it's quality or lack thereof. I have at least dabbled in the modulation section, and done extensive exploration in the filter, delay, and Reverb sections, and found them all adequate to superior in tone and 'controlability' (OK, maybe not a real word…yet). And, c'mon, for $130? You really can't beat this!mikeoxmal

First off, I would like to say that I have literally owned and tried every single direct amp/cab sim option on the market, both in a studio situation and a live gig/touring situation that required nightly in ear monitor usage. My one and only quest was to get as close to my tube amps, that I dearly miss being able to use, as possible! I have ditched every single unit after one or two gigs for the same reasons; too digital in response, and they just don’t feel good during a gig (which makes the whole gig a struggle in some aspect), and don’t handle analog pedals well. My search has ended with the Strymon Iridium! I popped this little monster on my pedalboard and off to rehearsals, and sessions I went! I have been able to dial in almost exact responses of a gorgeous fender style clean, and a Marshall style lead tone, in seconds. I also have been able to do my beloved overdrive and fuzz stacking to my hearts content and this little black box handled it with ease and felt realistic while doing it! I will leave with this; if you have been struggling like I have to confirm to the direct trend and need an immediate solution to take you as close as you could possibly get to recreating those killer tube amp tones on a nightly basis, definitely cut your journey down by thousands of dollars and countless irritating hours by just going to purchase the Strymon Iridium first! I love this pedal. This is the best sounding amp sim on the market. I'm thinking about buying a second one to have a stereo set-up. The only downside is the power issues. Strangely enough you get a high frequency in the signal with both the adapter and a separate power supply. I even had a complete power lock down in my house, when plugging in the pedal. I just wish you could at least save one preset per amp. You can have two, if you set the control to one amp and save one preset with another amp. But that's it. Or you have to work with midi. But that's part of the concept of this pedal; hands-on and WYSIWYG. No one mentions there's a time lag when switching the pre-set on and off, so you cannot switch between amps mid song. I wonder if one could leave the IR empty, to use this pedal as a pre amp-only before a real amp. Have to try that one! I sometimes find the lay-out confusing; if the drive knob is somewhere around 2 o'clock, I tend to think I can use it to switch the amp type. Every time I use it I experience this two or three times.
A little perspective. I've been playing electric guitar for a little over 20 years. I've never had a good situation for loud tube amps so I've used modelers. The last few years I've used the latest and greatest Helix and Axe Fx offerings which are great in their own right. Endless options. You can get lost with chasing your favorite artist's tone. And I did. But in that process I started to become a tone chaser and not a guitar player. I obsessed over the tone and feel and played less and less. Enter the Iridium. Here's my experience: If you turn the knobs and adjust your tone using you ears not your eyes (what your eyes think a good setting looks like) you will easily find exceptional, inspiring tone. No need for menu diving. No need for settling with a tone that's 95% what you want. If you give it a chance this little box can get your musicianship back. There are wannabe recording engineers out there and for such folks I say go get an axe FX. If you want to grab your guitar and make music from jazz to acdc, the Iridium will get you there. This simple little box has breathed new life into my playing and it can for you too. Highly recommended.

I'll make this short and sweet. This thing is packed with sounds and there is a natural delay that seems to be missing with other delay pedals. My only complaint is not the product but Sam Ash the selector knob and mod knob get stuck when I press down. I wish I could take it back but unfortunately I live to far away to take it back and the minor annoyance is not worth my trouble. If I can avoid buying from Sam Ash going forward I probably will.Loco
beautiful sounds and so much more. From spacy delay to psychedelic to slap or whatever delay you have in mind in just a few pushes and twists away. There are many presets on this pedal so yeah a multiswitch or a midi controller will be in your future shoppinglist. also if you download strymon librarian program you can change your presets on your laptop. but you wil need a special midi cable for that. for the people who are doubting between timeline and nemesis. there are some other sounds on each of them but the same you need a midiswitch for presets and the nemesis has also a app to change the presets? you cant go wrong with any of them!

I track usually 4 rhythm tracks, two of the exact same then two more of the same but with accents or harmonies etc as my main rhythm and I like it to be tight and sound like one guitar performance, the variations and accents and harmonies blend and widen the sound, also I use hard panning and other panning to make the guitar sound huge. With the guitar sound very close performance wise and tone/distortion quality wise, I find that it just sounds like one massive performance and the listener perceived it as a Randy Rhoads kind of singular performance. I'm the only guitarist and I play complex chords, this also let's be play parts of the chord separately for more even intonation and harmonics definition. It goes towards the big sound, I kind of learned from Alex Lifeson, Rhoads, and Hatfield and Wolf of Accept this approach as they all do the main rhythms and it sounds tight and huge. Mimiq helps me get the 4 tracks with only two performances and it adds natural sounding random variations that do what the multitrack stacking of individual performances does, it doesn't just uniformly cancel out all the interesting variations, which can happen if you just copy the same track and reamp. This replaced the signal splitter on my board with the added benefit of actually making my stereo sound better. I have it right after my tuner and it splits into an HM-2 LHP on the dry side and a Blackened Fuzz on the wet "double" side. Makes my stereo rig sound better. I only use the 1 dub mode, so Dry and 1 Double L/R and I use it pretty tight, just enough to make it sound "different" but not sloppy. Does exactly what I had hoped it would do.
Bought to run a slight delay to a second amp more so than the "double track" thing. But actually this effect seems pretty decent. Did i immediately notice you can get phase issues? Yes of course. Did i get some of that notorious left right jump thing? Yes. But it seems to relate to using the pedal at the limits of what its happy with. For the price this thing is a keeper…because otherwise im having to spend big dosh on either the 30ms or the Deco. Buy this but be prepared to accept some limitations and bug bears. I was so excited about this pedal. I took it out of the package and plugged it in immediately. I was then confronted by the fact that the 9v battery connector was missing. It had been left in the body of the unit and no one at quality control had noticed. I sent an email to Dunlop expecting a quick response as the pedal is brand new. Never got one. Huge disappointment.
I ended up taking care of this issue myself. The pedal itself is killer but the lack of q.c. and response to this issue is a bit ridiculous.

I'd seen a number of reviews of this pedal on YouTube and decided I'd get one. If you're just after some extreme distortion there are plenty of other pedals out there for that but if you want something a bit more 'out there' then the Atreides is probably more your sort of thing. As a 62 year old musician I'm not into technology and the X5 did not come with the updated version i.e no Tuner etc. It took me quite some time to figure out how to download the latest version and I found it extremely difficult to try and solve the issue. The on-line instructions make it so easy and yet when I followed them to the letter I could not get it to load. Finally I managed to load it…how I still don't know! I recently broke down my kit just to simplify everything in an ampless/recording/playing/streaming setup that works incredibly well for all those things. The Plethora offers an All I Need in One Unit – almost. I've put a compressor/Boost and the Broadcaster AP in front of it, and looped everything and out of a Simplifier. Modulation sounds, specifically Delays and Reverbs are my Jam, and the Plethora delivers. Having as many as I need on tap is where we're going here, and the options with Toneprint are vast. Then we can tweak. There's also plenty of scope to experiment and look for inspiration, so in all it looks to be a great value proposition for most. I think that TC Electronic realised that most people are going to have a favourite Overdrive pedal, so the omission of any digital replica is actually welcomed from me. (Seriously – you've gotta try the Broadcaster!) It was between this and a Helix Stomp XL. In the end I figured I could live without the amp sims, and I prefer the user interface and less menu diving with the XL. They sound the same to me. There's always room for improvement somewhere. Another loop might have been good, and the looper function is perhaps lacking in full functionality for some, but it's enough to keep you ticking over. The addition of the Boss style adaptor plug was a very welcome modification. The indicator light is cool as well. Both were absent in earlier versions of this classic overdrive. I've owned all versions of this pedal, including the original grey and yellow pedals. This is a nice take on them and the lighter weight casing appears to be aluminum. The originals and later reissues used a cast material that was heavy and was a bit of overkill for such a simple circuit. This is a great alternative to those. The circuit has a tendency to be a little bassy especially as the gain is increased. It lends itself to single coil guitars very well(yngwie) but works great with humbucking pickups as well. One of my all time favorite over drives, and I own them all. Stacks well with other pedals. Everyone should try this one, it rips.Duke
I'm in an acoustic jam group and needed some extra punch for my vintage Guild D-40 so it didn't get swallowed up when taking solos. Running a Fisher soundhole pickup through a 25W Danelectro solid state amp just didn't do the trick, but adding this does. I set it very clean with the gain dial at its lowest setting and the level up, using the eq on the Danny to brighten up the highs. A very natural sound, not like through the mic, but good for my purposes. With the gain up a bit, the added sustain on the low end was a pleasant surprise. The LED light is so bright, I'll never forget and leave it on. My one complaint so far is the changing the battery involves unscrewing four screws and taking the back off — why not build it with a slide-open compartment? When I hooked it up to my Tele, it took a little tweaking to get the setting right, but it produces a nice gritty sound. For the price, I'm happySwampy
I have been playing guitar since 1979. I have owned this pedal at least (2) times in my life. Currently I am in a band using EMG loaded Strats and an EMG loaded LP Custom. I play through a "Made in England" JCM 2000 DSL 50 Amplifier. The "Classic" channel has a mode that will give you a 1970's Super Lead or JCM 800 tone. I have used Super Leads all my life until now. So the "Ultra" channel has the gain and sustain you would want for heavier riffs and definitely for guitar solo's. The "Classic" channel, much like my Super Leads, has a great rhythm tone but suffers from a lack of sustain for guitar solos. There's nothing worse than playing a guitar solo and having the vibrato notes fade out too quickly. So I decided a quality boost pedal would goose the front of the amp in "Classic" mode to increase sustain without changing the tone. I looked at Xotic EP Booster's, Xotic SL, MXR Echoplex, and the MXR micro amp. All were very good but I thought they were a little too expensive. When I saw the DOD 250 Overdrive/Pre Amp "on sale" I immediately placed my order. Now for more than half the price I have a pedal that has a level control to goose the front end of my Marshall and the added benefit of a Gain knob should I decide to add a little more Gain. The DOD 250 is a transparent OD/Boost pedal with big head room. You can tell it doesn't mess with your tone too much. So, if you are looking for a boost pedal like what I stated above, I strongly suggest checking out the DOD 250. Save money and get the boost you need and the added gain knob as an extra feature. 100% satisfied and I feel great about saving money. A win win pedal.

Upfront…..it's a Keeley …and that alone tells anyone who knows pedals that it will be well built , decent sound quality and affordable…..but they missed the boat on this one and I expect a version 2.0 soon enough….the reverb and the delay cannot be stacked , either way , they can only be played independently. This was a big mistake on the design engineers or Robert himself. The gain/overdrive side of this pedal is excellent!!! And unfortunately I am stacking this pedal with an Oceans 11 while using their spring or plate modes. I will be pretty peeved if and when version 2 is released and the stacking in series or parallel is now useable. Otherwise I give this a 3/5 where it could have been a 4.5/5 easily!!!!!…….sorry guys …had to be honest …but I won't buy version 2 unless you take BACK this original version and modify it correctly!!!Chaotic Embrace Inc

A fun little pedal if you want to experiment with synth tones on a budget and without taking up much board space. Solid construction with metal housing and easily understandable controls. In particular I've found mode 7, the "EDM/Pad", to give some really usable results for background synth drones and swells. Combining it with a compressor to add more sustain works well and I've also had nice results adding some chorus and flanger which can smooth out some of the harsher tones. Tracking and latency seem to be fine. Most modes cope well with chords too, except the organ one (mode 2). Works well with a bass too. On the downside, as a micro pedal the knobs are very small so it's not something you'll want to tweak mid-set, though it does allow for saving presets. If I was going to nitpick I think it would also be more practical if the hold-down-footswtich control changed between modes rather than toggling on the arpeggiator.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

I have owned and played a ton of guitar processors, use a Boss GT-Pro and live miking in thestudio, had every stupid tone robbing effect and gadget and finally see the light. This is simple, sounds amazing and as I said before… if you need more than these effects to play then you are just hiding behind a bunch of junk noise. What I liked about it was the lack of features. Been playing a long time and the more years pass the less I want to F-around with layer upon layer of menus that will work in the studio and then blow when you play live. The transition from headphones to monitors to a club's monitors and your amp, never works. So, this thing you plop in front of you and… boom, your ready to go. Two overdrive settings, real-world chorus, great analog delay, and a compressor that is plainly the best I have used in 42 years of playing. If you think you need anything else, you will be playing in your bedroom on YouTube for the rest of your life. Unless of course you play in a Flock Of Seagulls tribute band. Built like a tank, I am sure it will take a beating. I read another review that the said the knobs turn too easy…. they don't, mine was dampened fine. The only thing I am curious about is the AC cable… hardwired and no ground. I am sure they have a reason for this and the unit runs silent so that wasn't an issue. Also, I would recommend contacting the support dept of any company before you buy their products. I emailed Carl Martin a question before I received the item and they responded the same day… AND… it was the CEO. It seems a little pricey but if you add up the Carl Martin effects it would take to make this pedal I calculated about 1400.00 So, it's a deal. I own several Carl Martin products. The Quattro is an excellent analog Multi-fx unit that you can easily dial In great tones with a tube amp. Spend some time with it and you will Find that each effect is great. Compressor 2 overdrives Chorus Delay with tap tempo. Fx loop 2 line outs. I use in two set ups: Run line out direct to tube amp input. Another is connect by 4 cable method Utilizing fx loop on pedal board and Tube amp's fx loop. And lastly, if no amp, run the line out Into a Carl Martin Rock Bug then to the mixer. This is a good back up in case your amp Goes out.musicmasterguitarist
Do you want one high quality multi effects pedal you can use for your stage rig? I wanted an all analog signal path, since I have a pretty sweet sounding hand-built amp, and you know how digital effects pedals can destroy your sound. Compressor: I play mostly country music with a Telecaster, so the compressor is an integral part of the sound. I kind of wish I had a bit more control over the compressor, such as an attack, and perhaps blend control. This compressor can really squeeze your sound – a little goes a long way. I set mine at only 9 O'Clock and still get a very squashed sound. I set the volume to make the output a bit higher than the input to push the front end of my amp a bit. Overdrive/Distortion: such a nice overdrive with my amp. There are two drive knobs – a low gain and high gain – with a switch for selecting which one is active. This is a great set up, since you can use Drive 1 for nice, barely overdriven rhythms and Drive 2 for high gain leads. Note that there is practically no increase in volume with switching to Drive 2 if the Drive knobs are set about the same, so it's very smooth switching back and forth. Chorus: I don't use chorus, but you may like how subtle the effect can be, just adding some fullness. A very good chorus, but not designed for radical modulation effects. Delay: Love the delay. It has tap tempo and that's the only way to set the delay time, so remember to tap in the initial value. Very analog-sounding, and the tone control is very useful, allowing the delay effect to stay in the background and not interfere with lead playing at all. This pedal is also nice and quiet, at least in my rig. There is a line buffer that cannot be bypassed, but it's a high quality buffer, I believe much better than the average Boss pedal. When you think of its intended purpose as a quick, all-in-one pedal, it makes sense that it would have an always-on buffer. The power supply is built in, so you just plug in the two-prong AC plug to your power bar. No wal-wart here. The only things I would change is to have a blend control (blend dry and compress signal), and an attack control, and perhaps a delay time control. However, these extra controls would take up more space, and comprimise the minimilist design of the unit, so perhaps it's perfect as is.Lance135

Fantastic condition. this is the newer version with the updated input buffer and fx. its less than a year old and its fitted onto a lift out pro pedalboard and flightcase. there is room on the side for a couple of pedals which you can hook up to the loops. 4 power outlets for your external pedals are on the back of the g system. pedals not included, just for image purposes. i have the manual and cables etc and i will also print off a copy of the lairds white paper which is a fantastic source of info for connecting and setting up with your existing equipment.

The g system sounds better than any multi effects unit that I've ever used. The notes just seem to ring with more clarity than I can remember hearing in other units and the tone is great. Practically zero noise when used with good cables. The build is incredible ; it's heavy and feels solid. i have it plugged into a Marshall dlc40 and it sounds incredible. Had one of these in 2006 and used it with a Bogner Ecstasy head. In 2011 went over to amp modeling rigs so I sold off my G-System. Late 2018 I went back to a tube amp (Mesa TC-50). Used an old midi control pedal I had along with my ancient G-Major effects. Decided to upgrade the rig and go back to the G-System. This new G-System is a 3rd Generation unit with superior input buffering. I couldn't be happier with my tone and the quality of the effects as well as the ease of use in channel switching and preset set-up. Turned my great rig into an awesome rig!

So I'm now working through their catalogue, an LR Baggs devotee; what they know about the physics of acoustics is equal to what they do about players. I really wanted to like this pedal. I love most of the other LR Baggs pedals. Just too bright, and no matter how I adjust it I can't seem to get a setting I like. It also seems to add feedback at almost any setting. Very "Digital Sounding". I reviewed this pedal before and liked it. But the more time I spend with it, its just not my thing. I did discover while messing around, The MXR M169 Carbon copy works amazing for acoustic guitar. Much more natural sounding and a dark delay that sits in the mix. That is the delay I use now.Big Rand

The first step in putting this unit together is to install the 1/4" connectors. right out of the gate, the holes milled for the 1/4" connectors are to close to the top of the box, and the connectors are not able to install and sit flush against the side of the box. the only fix is to oval out the holes, or maybe drill new holes. the only reason I gave 2 stars is that it still might sound good, and it's cheap. I'll revisit the review after i get it together.dickieziggen
I purchased this with the intention of modifying the original circuit. I used a 2n3904 and a nte123ap in a cascaded darlington configuration and I used a germanium diode with red led instead of the provided pair of silicon diodes. It functions as a dirty boost but when pushed, it has a raspy aggressive distortion with asymmetrical clipping that closely resembles early Led Zeppelin tones.Josh
Super easy to build and sounds great! It likes single coils and humbuckers! Throw this in front of an already driven amp and drive it some more…or put in front of a clean amp and get a nice rich overdrive. This pedal is on my pedal board now! I had never used Line 6 products, always Boss ME 70, then ME 80. Back in the early 1980's I purchased several Boss pedals and still use some of them. When I decided to put together a pedal board, after spending over 2000 on pedals, there was something missing. Then I started watching the pedal boards of Nashvilles studio pro's. Over half have the M9 on their pedal boards. So after purchasing this and having sometime working with it, it is the most awesome sounding pedal now on my Freidman board. Their will always be new pedals for different sounds or qualities of sounds, but nothing has been better than the Mp fo a foundation of my sound. So fast and easy to use. I take my gear purchases very seriously, and I have high expectation for acquisitions, which are usually preceeded by extensive research, review reading, cost analysis, etc. Although I am thankful to have enough tools for any professional necessities, I have a general philosophy about having the best quality I can afford, taking care of what I have, using tools as deeply as possible, not having excessive amounts of things that are not needed or especially go unused, and getting products that allow me to continue using with versatility as I grow in my practice and occupation. Regarding the M9, I can say that I have been using one since 2010 and have integrated it solidly into concerts, studio recordings, and other myriad projects of these past years. I just acquired a second M9, for expanded uses and to be certain that I will be able to securely continue solid use. If you are considering this product, I would guess that you are familiar with how much this unit is capable of. I can attest that this box is excellent. For its small size, it carries 100 pedals worth of effects, of which can be stored in multiple settings, modified in real time with tap tempo, and with a bit of utilitarian looping. Comparing this to three boutique pedals, for example, one would pay likely twice as much or more, with 97 less options, and likely not have access to saved settings for sets, track recordings, etc, nor be able to use tap tempo which syncs to all effects in chain, and a pedal for changing effect parameters (not included). I cannot say enough good things about this pedal, but hopefully this review will help others looking for experienced reviews to help them decide if this is worthy of purchase. A little confusing to get started, but the automatic save and all those great tones made up for it! Like other user comments, the distortion patches are all very high endy. I attempted to tweak the distortion patches for an hour or two then gave up and just use my amp distortion. The patches all sound great through my fx loop — especially the delays. My current favs are the ping pong, univibe, and trem. I have the both the green and blue Line 6 stomps for years and am glad for the extra space and lower weight on my pedal board.Sara
