Guitar Pedal Order Looper For Sale (2024 Update)

This pedal was fairly cheap, and it does work, so I dont want to knock that part of it. However, The sound quality is terrible. I saw one review that said, after three or four layers of sound it starts to sound muddy. I feel that was an understatement. A single play back loop sounds muddy to me. Ill still use it to practice with, but Im not very impressed. Save your money, and buy a better quality looper.guitarded5150

I've watched the evolution of the Boomerang looper from its initial large footprint to the smaller Rang III. After purchasing and using mini dittos, ditto X4, BOSS RC-50, Flashbacks, JamMan, etc., I finally decided to go with the Boomerang system because I simply grew tired of dealing with malfunctions during a public performance. Not to say that there aren't quirks about the Boomerang too, but in comparison the Boomerang phrase sampler, thus far, has proven itself to be far superior to these other loopers. There is an initial steep learning curve (it took me three days of concentrated effort to get the hang of the Rang), but now I've worked out my looper routine such that I can now comfortably manipulate composing four-voice loops which can sound convincing and stimulates my creative juices. I also picked up the Side Car and the E-155 chorus/delay pedal, which rounds out the system beautifully. What strikes me is the clear 48k audio output quality. What also floors me is to be able to solo in reverse (also a feature on the E-155). Looping is an art and I have a ways to go as I adapt to the Boomerang system, but I can see a bright future of creative growth ahead for me. The only drag is that you can't save those multi-loops, for the Boomerang is a live performance tool.But, really, I'm not bothered too much by that fact. I also have a BOSS RC-3 looper pedal with 99 patches filled to round out my expressive potential when I perform solo. Another kool thing about the Rang III is that you can plug a TS cable microphone or synth mono line out into the RIGHT stereo input which expands your input capacity. I still need to get comfortable with stacking and serial-syncing, but I'm quite surprised and satisfied with what I can create on the fly with the Rang III system. Just like with Pro Tools or any other routine which requires some study and practice, operating the Boomerang becomes second nature as you grow with it. Sonicake is the real deal. These guys design and make solid, great sounding and well-thought-out equipment. This looper is easy to use, compact, and comes with the features youd expect from boxes costing maybe twice as much. Very easy to use and built like a tank. I had to watch a few demo videos to learn how the controls worked and interacted but it didn't take but a few minutes. Playback quality is very good with tons of storage for created loops. My only issue is with what Boss calls "Drum Tracks". There's only 10 of them and their sound quality is piercing. You can load your own via the usb connection though. Also, it only stores wav files from external sources so converting songs you only have as mp3 etc. to wav is an extra step I could do without. I might just be nitpicking because otherwise it's a great looper with more features than most people will ever need. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.ethan1957

I bought this to compare to my ditto pedal. Its not nearly as simple to use, despite what people say. Okay, it might just be me, but the ditto is more intuitive to use. After you record the first loop, it automatically begins recording the overdub. With the ditto, it goes to pause when you complete a loop. So, yes, its a Boss pedal and built like a tank. But for me, its 50/50 with the ditto. You have to make your own decision about this one.jonaha650

Have been nothing but pleased with the Boss RC-1 loop pedal. I currently use it in conjunction with my Digitech RP1000 and it has really allowed me creative freedom while practicing. I bought this since the RP1000 only has a 20 second looping feature, while this one can go as long as I need. I like how you can easily layer riffs on top of one another, delete when you make mistakes, and stop altogether with just the stomp of the pedal. It's amazing. Nothing else to say. This is probably the most versatile delay pedal I've ever used, and I haven't even explored the "Toneprint" feature yet, where you use your mobile phone to upload new sounds to the unit. The feature I like the most is the Audio- tapping feature, where instead of tap- tempo using your foot to set the delay time, you just hold down the switch with your foot, mute the strings with your fretting hand and strum the tempo you want using down strokes with your strumming hand- As I'm a guitarist, not a drummer (praise the Lord) so I find this a much more natural way to set tempo than tapping a footswitch. After years of playing, I've only just discovered the joys of setting delay times to match song tempo (maybe I was a drummer in a previous life). The one feature I'll probably never use is the looper, but that's only because I already have a dedicated looper pedal anyway. Check out the Reverse- Delay feature, it's a very trippy feature-if you set your sound to 100% wet only you can sound like the Beatles Revolution #9- Turn me on dead man! Seriously though, this is great pedal for the money, I use the modulated delayand tape echo sounds a lot!steph_prid

I've been using the TC Flashback for more than a year now. Flashback has a variety of good delay sounds but I primarily use Tape or Analog mode to add some warm ambience or spaciousness when desired. I see some people complaining about the looper. I believe in order to get unity gain on the looper mode, you need to max the volume. This is fine for me because I never use the looper in a live setting but only when I practice a particular solo or improv over few chords. The strum-tempo works well but if you are changing tempo in a hurry, this may not be the ideal method. No, this is not the best delay I've ever used or heard but I would still use it for it's compact size and features. I'm somewhat of a purist using only guitar-amp and Flashback in the FX loop. I'm a tone snob but I also believe that with a decent setup, I could sound equally great utilizing my playability and musicality against any giant pedalboard with expensive boutique pedals or rack gears. Folks, this is a good pedal. From my knowledge, the great Guthrie Govan had them in his board as well. I play classic rock, jazzy blues, hard-rock, alternative rock, and pop. For my use, Flashback sounds great. I hope this would help your decision making. Good luck!krz

The Flashback is exactly what I had been looking for. It's compact (I believe it's the smallest pedal with a tap-tempo equivalent); It has good emulations of various delay types; Features analog pass-through of the dry signal; Runs on standard power. Instad of a foot-controlled tap-tempo, the Flashback let's you dictate the tempo my holding the bypass switch down (which mutes the guitar) and strumming the tempo on the guitar strings. It works great if you're able to set the tempo before the song starts and can commit to it. But it can be a deal breaker if you need to change tempos mid song. The various delay emulations are preset and can't be edited. But I find them to be very tasteful and not in need of tweaking. Note that the analog delays don't self-modulate or pitch-shift with knob turns like real bucket brigades do. While the repeats are digitally generated, the dry signal remains analog. So it always feels natural. The Looper feels like an afterthought. It outputs at a lesser volume . The Flashback runs on standard 9v battery or normal AC adapter. It works in a pedalboard daisy chain with a typical "one spot" adapter. Also works with Sanyo Pedal Juice battery. Like most digital gear, it will eat more power than an analog delay.jtroska

I've recorded my bands music since the '70's with reel to reel,8 track,cassette and 16 track equipment and overdubbing and syncing was a total nightmare. I really didn't expect much out of it just wanted to try it so I wouldn't have to play alone.It blew me awaythe first day I filled all the memory up in a matter of 2 hours. So I'm out in the garage just having a good time and I take a break. My wife comes out with 3 beers and looks around for the other person.Told her it was this little pedal and she could not believe it. Shes seen me through the years fighting with recordings and said don't ypu wish you had that 50 years ago.The pedal is accurate and easy to figure out and rather cheap but cost me a small fortune whn I went out and bought a new guitar to play and record with it!2014cuyl

For a compact looper pedal this has, great features. The deal breaker is the circular led panel. While this pedal functions in a basic way the led tells you exactly what is happening and where you are in you loop. That knowledge makes me far more confident to use it live. You can end the playback and erase the loop silently or pause the playback and use it again – useful if a lead break is later in the song. You record the rhythm part, pause it and start it later on in the song. There options for adding extra pedal to control things but I found I got on OK without them. Basically a solid looper with a useful display that is, easy to read in a live situation. The trick to silently erase is to double tap and hold the second tap. Stops instantly and the erases a couple of seconds later – this isn't clear in the instructions.David M.

High value and quality! Maybe not for the touring professional who needs every bell and whistle, but for beginners or intermediates it's a really solid feature set and great quality at a price point that is just a hair over the price of some much more basic units. Spend the extra $20 and get a pedal you'll love! Loopers are super fun, this one is no exception. There is a learning curve but that's more on the player than the pedal. (If your timing/coordination are not on point, a looper, like any recording method, will really highlight that.) It could use more foot pedals so that some of the push-button functionality could manipulated while you're playing, but there's an option to connect another pedal anyway, so that's covered really. Pretty easy to use. Seems solid. Has a pretty good sound quality. Only thing I dislike would be the simplicity of the drum tracks, but I didn't really buy it for that. In all it's pretty great value. I did a lot of searching, and this has a lot for the price. Especially like the enormous record capacity with 99 presents you can save to. I'd recommend it.jamesingl0

This is heaps of fun to use – easy, foot switch is very fast (microswitch), sturdy casing – I wouldn't stomp on it too hard because I reckon the microswitch could wear eventually, but it's definitely a quick pedal. Came with a battery so you can try it out straight away. Nice and tidy, I really like this pedal. I don't regret it at all. Time for some fun!psylink2008

An immense sounding, feature packed device. This looper will improve your workflow and creativity from day one. I have been using it with my synths, bass guitar and acoustic guitar to make a variety of different genres of music, from synth-pop to classical. I’m experimenting with vocals, something I have never tried before and even for someone with no vocal training at all you can use the fx on the MKII to add depth and presence to your voice. This looper is great for making music right away. Plug in a guitar and a mic and you can be your own band. I also feel like it's pretty easy to learn. Things I don't like: flimsy volume faders, plasticity connections on the back and I feel like when you're live it's hard to control the volume of each loop. Also having trouble with the mic picking up everything I'm doing. All about I'm satisfied with my Looper.NICK

Early days but, so far, I love it. I already have a Ditto Stereo, so I knew what to expect. This was really bought for the 'stop' and 'fade' functions for live performance, but I really like the ways that the two loop functions can be used together. I truly love the design of this product, don't get me wrong. But the dedicated stop switch is lacking. You have to double tap the stop to truly stop the loop, otherwise it plays until the end of the loop phrase and THEN stops. For a pedal advertised as "the guitarists looper" it seems more geared towards being midi synced with a sequencer, which is great if you overlook the fact most guitarists are unfamiliar with midi and are usually uninterested in using drum machines and sequencers. As a veteran looper, I realize the biggest problem is making loops on time. I've gotten pretty good at looping on time, but the occasional live screw up is still pretty hard to avoid l.With my boss rc20 I would simply record the entire verse, press stop instead of play when I get to the chorus, and solo over the verse after the chorus section, effectively avoiding off time loops altogether by never reaching the actual end of the phrase where the sort of "sound seam" of a loop is, which is always totally noticable if you're not perfectly on time. With the Ditto x4 it instead of incorporating a true dedicated stop, Tc electronics assumed everybody has a metronome sequenced to their looper and designed the stop to work such as that of a sequencer. This is a pretty unbelievablly stupid move in my opinion,considering this pedal is geared towards guitarists, not EDM DJs. I'm not your average guitarist, so I actually am interested in its midi applications. I'm not saying it isn't a neat idea to have midi sync on a pedal, but the pedal shouldn't revolve around that feature. I've been working on finding ways around the lack of a true dedicated stop, like getting good at double tapping on time. Pretty annoying to have to do when the thing has four buttons. Also, they should have made one of the effects simply a dedicated "undo" function. But the design? Perfect. Perhaps they could issue a software update to fix some of the bugs. I'm a long time supporter of Boss products but I won't be using this pedal. I do not like that I have to double tap the Record/play pedal on the first loop to play without continuing to record. Record/play or record/overdub should be a user controlled option like on my RC-300. Loops can only be played in parallel and should have the ability to run in series like the RC-300. The effects are gimmicky and mostly unusable and the rhythm section is really generic and unchangeable. If they would only make this pedal with 4 switches (A: record/play – stop/clear & B: record/play – stop/clear) and the ability to play loops in series and parallel, remove the effects and rhythm section, this would be the hottest product on the market. I have an RC-300 which has all these features but its too large which is why I'm looking to replace it. Come on Boss… give us a small, functional looper between the RC-300 and RC-30 or we will all be switching to something else like the EHX 22500.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Bought it after being bored of the limitations I experienced while using the boss dd7 delay as a looper in my world music project (although the dd7 does a very good job). Now I start to get bored of the limitations the rc 30 brings with it. I wish for example the effects could be used without using a loop. That would give a new sense to the Maschine while it is implemented to my setup and not in use as a looper. The machine should have enough chips on board to provide some more fun and usability. The beatbox unit could also be programmable and I would like to be able to put other drumsamples in it. What I miss is a bpm – Meter AND the possibility to choose the bpm by number. This would help to synchronise it with other machines what is more or less impossible the way it is. WARNING: If you start the loops that are already on the machine (#90+.. ) when you buy it after some testing with a guitar you will either blow your ears or your amp because they are 300% louder then your guitar.Luxp

I would recommend buying the DigiTech JML2 JamMan instead of the RC-30. I just purchased an RC-30 and played with it fairly extensively for a couple weeks before deciding to return it and get the JamMan. This is obviously a review of the RC-30, but I'm going to compare it to the JamMan for features. Places the JamMan has an edge: 1. You are able to switch back and forth between different phrases seamlessly. The RC-30's biggest downfall is a 1/4 second or so lag that occurs when you switch between different phrases. The newest firmware updates have not made this go away. Because of the lag, the RC-30 is almost unusable in live applications. 2. When purchased with the Digitech FS3X footswitch (which only cost me $14.95), the JamMan has 7 different control buttons providing much easier hands free control than the RC-30 which has a max of 4 switches when used in conjunction with the Boss FS-6, which is also much more expensive than the Digitech footswitch. The Boss forces you to double tap switches or hold them down for two seconds (changes phrases requires a 2 second hold down even if you have an FS-6). 3. The JamMan allows for real time tap tempo changes while the loop is playing. The RC-30 only allows tempo changes when stopped and the phrase must have been previously saved. 4. The JamMan has an instrument in volume level and the RC-30 does not. This makes mixing instruments, loops, mics, and rhythms easier on the JamMan. 5. Cost is less, even with the additional FS3X. Also the Digitech comes with a power supply (does not run on batteries) while the Boss does not come with a power supply (it does run on batteries though) and is the right power supply that doesn't cause the unit to buzz is an additional $15-25 depending on where you buy it. Places the RC-30 has an edge: 1. Two looping channels with each phrase. The user can layer a couple elements on one channel and then switch to the other (while the first is still running) and lay more elements down then stop the first set, etc. This is actuallly pretty difficult to do with only 4 pedal buttons (and that assumes you have an FS-6). It should also be noted that the two channels must be the same length. 2. Additional recording time on the RC-30 (3hrs vs. JamMan's 35min). Both allow transfer to computer via USB though for unlimited storage. The JamMan can have additional storage with bigger memory card though. The RC-30 doesn't use a memory card. The computer storage for both units is somewhat annoying and time consuming. 3. Loop FX on RC-30. The only effect on the JamMan is reversing the loop (RC-30 doesn't do this). I actually found the Loop FX to be less than spectacular but others may disagree with me. Personally, I'd much rather have a reverse function. 4. Mic input on RC-30 has phantom power. Overall I much prefer the JamMan over the RC-30 if for no other reason than the fact that it's usable in a live setting because there's no phrase switching lag. Neither unit seems to noticeably alter my tone – and I'm a tone freak so that's something I listen for and care about a lot. I've owned lots of Boss effects and many have been great but you shouldn't buy this pedal simply because it's made by Boss. Compare the features and choose what's most important for you.alinquist

This little pedal is great for playing solo and adding chords and melodic lines on the fly. As a practice tool, it is excellent. You can record some chord changes and play scales and arpeggios to your hearts content. Repetitive practice is where this excels. Performing is also easy… just one button controls both recording and playback. I like this better than some fancier loopers I have. I use this one most of the time. It can be powered by a 9 volt battery and a little connector (my favorite). It can also be powered by an a/c adapter.gladdad2

I chose this looper because it was less than half the price of the TC Electronic Ditto that I was also considering. So far I'm super happy with this budget version. The case is made of heavy plastic, with a metal base, and the jacks, switch, and knob all feel sturdy and high quality. It's also easy to operate once you figure out the switch combinations to record, overdub, undo, and delete (Fortunately there's a small manual provided that describes all the functions). Recording quality is also quite good, and I couldn't tell much difference between playback and my actual guitar. Packaging was excellent – the pedal came in a sturdy cardboard box, lined with fitted high density foam. There are a couple minor things that could have been better, but I'm definitely willing to overlook at this price point: Volume knob is quite small , and a full size knob would have been nice. Also turning the knob all the way up sets it to unity gain, meaning you can't make playback louder than how it was recorded, only quieter. Overall, a really solid loop pedal – amazing value for money.thesighthesound

Good things do come in small packages. The little looper is a delight to have underfoot when practicing, composing, or even doing live performances – once you get the hang of using it properly. You can record up to about ten minutes of material, and play it back at the click of a button, and then overdub as much or as little as you care to. Amazing little device to have, which can allow you to hear what you are playing right and wrong, and give you the ability to make it better if you are willing to work at it. The only thing that I have to complain about is not having instant access to the software that would allow you to download the recorded material on the device into a computer using the USB port and cable that came with the device. A search on the internet for the software left me empty handed, but apparently there is a website out there with the software, but I'm having too much for playing with the device to spend a day looking for the software.kjrh
