This MXR covers all of the tones I need. I am playing a passive bass through a PA. I mainly need some boost and some color. This works great. I rarely use the distortion. The pedal really add to the bottom end. I reduces that hollow tone you can get playing live in an acoustical challenging room.
Whenever I turn on this pedal, distortion or not it sounds like someone just woke up a beehive, The actual clean sound is pretty good but when you really dig into the pups it starts to make that pop sound louder which is a big issue for me at least, (shouldn't be due to volume increase) when the distortion is on, there's even more buzz AND it's a very bad distortion. The distortion also doesn't have a wide range of sounds and is only really usable at minimum gain and the blend knob almost all the way back, just get an OD , and an EQ pedal, trust me.Undisclosed
I typically run a clean bass signal with no effects (except for a compressor pedal). I purchased this pedal because of the DI, Equalizer control, Distortion (as needed) and 9v operation. (1) The DI sounds pretty good and records clean. (2) The Equalizer control is a little too sensitive for my taste, but it does shape the sound as expected. I feel that a +/- 12db 4-band Equalizer would have been better with frequency bands of 80Hz, 360Hz, 800Hz and 5kHz. (3) The Distortion is pretty good and fits the bill when needed. Like most distortion pedals, it is slightly thin when "on". But this pedal can balance a clean (low) and distorted tone for a good balance. (4) The pedal operates on the same 9v supply/polarity that virtually all other pedals operate on (center negative). I find this convenient when operating all pedals on my Big Joe Lithium Power Supply. In summary I'm happy with my purchase and it resides in my set-up all of the time.SLoveland

Having purchased this unit among other pedals to replace a Zoom B2.1u Multi FX unit, I found myself wondering whether there really was anything to gain from the change. I was very quickly convinced that it was worth every cent, as the MXR compressor gives you all the versatility you could want in a compressor. The LED bar graph shows you exactly how much compression is being applied at a given moment, and serves as a fantastic way to adjust your settings so that the signal is being compressed exactly where and when you want it to be. Your eyes will tell you what your ears may not! Unlike many of my other pedals, the MXR Bass Compressor stays in the state you leave it in. Other effects need to be toggled on or off to suit my 'default' sound every time the pedal board is plugged in, but thanks to the 3PDT toggle switch, this unit stays in the state you left it in. If it was on when you unplugged, it'll be on when you plug in again, and vice versa! The other benefit of this type of switch is that you get true bypass. Overall, the MXR Bass compressor is very compact, built tough, versatile, adjustable, doesn't color your tone, and leaves you believing it couldn't possibly be improved, as it's already PERFECT! it's hard to tell what is really happening here unless you really pay attention very closely to the sound of what's NOT happening, meaning, you are trying to focus the sound, tone, ambience, etc. yet at the same time, you want it to do what it's meant for – very hard to discern when there's no manual to go by. The manual for this unit is absolutely TERRIBLE – sure it's in every language in the world, but NO real directions for setup or how to make the sound improved. No theory of operation, nothing. Worst manual I ever opened. For anything ever bought in my lifetime. And no link to direct you to better, more detailed instructions on how to use. Very disappointed in that regard. Other than that, it does seem to make my overall sound less sloppy ( less speaker "wow" & flutter is the goal, when playing bass, with one of these compressors) so it seems to be eliminating what you DON'T want to hear, but it takes some time to get this pedal oriented correctly, with the controls. This is the 3rd and final compressor I tried. I like the visual readout which is quite helpful. This pedal has a lot of different sounds it can help create. I play 4 to 5 times a week in two different bands. The one band is a hard rock/funk band and the other is a country band. Needless to say my tone is different in each situation. I was recommended this bass preamp almost 20 years ago. I've been through a TON of boutique equipment since then, trying to find 'my sound' and figured..what the heck, let me give this pedal a try. It makes EVERYTHING sound better! If you play on other peoples rigs from time to time, bring this!!! You'll be so much happier you did! You can find 'your sound' on almost any rig with this little guy. I'm a gear snob, I like 'my sound', which is clear, clean, and with a little bit of tube breakup while grinding in on my jazz. My sound is a cross between Flea and Marcus Miller. My boutique equipment gives me this on its own. When I'm forced to play a Behringer single 15" cab with no tweeter and no usable EQ because its the backline, the Sans Amp will be definitely utilized that night! Here's why I love this thing. First, I prefer passive basses. Second, when gigging I need fast access to three basic tone signatures — a mid-boosted one for a balanced mix with the band, a bottom-heavy grindy one for heavy lifting, and a scooped one for funk and solos. Program those in, and good to go, with the option to tweak them a bit for conditions without permanently altering the setting. Third, after years of lugging heavy, bulky head units I now feed the Sansamp into a 1000W ultralite power amp and have all the headroom I need, without the pain. Fourth, whenever I meet a new sound man at gigs the first thing I hear is "Sweet, a Sansamp DI." Fifth, hand-built like a tank in NYC. I'm sure I can list more, but you get the idea. I switched from the Pigtronix Fat Bass Drive to the Bass Soul Food. The review above me has said a good amount about this pedal, so I won't repeat what they said. This has just the right sound I've been wanting. Even blended all the way in, and the drive all the way over, it's not too distorted for me. It'll do a clean boost just fine as well. Really pleased that there's still good low end. Doesn't kill my tone. I mainly use it on my USA G&L SB-2 with flatwounds. I was considering the MXR Bass Overdrive but it was more expensive & I didn't like the sound of it as much. The video from EHX doesn't do this pedal justice, in my opinion. Overall: I've tried several other bass boost/distortion pedals, but they were always too "harsh" or "metal sounding." They were good for that sound (grind, dirt), but it was too much for me. After reading the review on this pedal, I decided to try it. After three days, I'm thrilled! The clean boost is just that, the distortion goes from very smooth to the raunch some people like (but I don't). This pedal is perfect for setting up a boost/smooth distortion that is perfect for soloing with just that little extra edge on it. The tone control set on higher treble can also boost the upper-register tones on leads. It works, with some tweaks, on everything from my '70 P-bass to my Carvin Icon 5 fretless to my Ibanez 3006 6-string. I recommend this pedal very highly. If you want warm, tasteful distortion for your bass, this is the way to go. I'm a 30+ year Boss user, but this eats the Boss Bass Distortion alive for smoothness and taste.Lawrence

If you're looking for a killer octave pedal in a small enclosure, it doesn't get any better than this! The tracking is top notch and the feature set includes everything you want, but nothing that you don't need. I was able to quickly dial in great tones on both my active & passive basses — the clean blend knob & mids button are extremely helpful in terms of compensating for different bass pickups. Nothing will top the Foxrox Octron2 on my big board, but for a compact board this bests all of the small octave pedals I've tried (Boss, EBS, Original MXR, Aguilar). It would have been helpful to have included the level trimmer on the exterior of the pedal (in the form of a 4th knob); additionally, I would have preferred that Dunlop spare the wall wart adapter & drop the price somewhat, since the vast majority of users will utilize a micro pedal like this on a powered board. Build quality on this pedal is great, tone control is super. Paired up with a big muff bass pi and you've got a great sound. The crossover switch is a great addition but not one I use as I'm running a clean amp and a dirty one, so the more effects the better on the latter! Worth noting, there's no battery. The Battalion is great. Spent a long time trying to find the best distorted signal for my playing and finally found the right thing for me. Has plenty of options and a variety of other really useful features. The noise gate, although simple and the envelope being a bit too long is still really useful for it's intention. The Compressor is again basic but works as intended and gives the sound way more punch. The EQ is true and allows for a greater deal of control over the signal. Overall: I loved this pedal when I first got it. The tone was great, the distortion was decent, and the compression was nice. This being a DI was one of the main selling points for me as I run direct into a set of Bose systems for gigs. I rarely used the distortion, but always tone and compression.After about 5-6 months the distortion stopped working, it would just pop and cut in and out. Around 6 months after that the DI slot stopped working all together, which rendered the pedal useless to me outside of practice. Figured it would last longer for the price.

This has just brought new life to the bass for me. i've had the pleasure of jamming on it and it just dialed in tones i was able to get with previous gear. first, the bass scrambler nuances went from subtle all the way distortion of the bass in a way that can keep the tone of your gear transparent or (by dialing in different settings) saturate it for new sonic colors and complexities. it has been a game changer for me. the ultra low setting is one of my favorites as it hits just right out of speakers. ultra high can get a completely different tone that worked for songs i wasn't sure how else to get the sound i needed. condition shows little to almost no light marks, but want to be transparent for you all. i just found this pedal to be one that gave me a little extra grit and gave new tones i didn't have before to work with. overall, pedal is wonderful and i love it. feel free to message with any questions.

This box is terrific. My basses sound great through it and there is a wide range of tones available. The scrambler circuit is a real hayride. Im running an instrument, a mic and an iPod through it and it all works great. My cheap electric guitar even sounds worth keeping now. My issue is power. The battery is buried behind the back plate. You have to open the box to get to it. The box does not come with a power supply. Musicians Friend benignly neglects to tell you this. You should talk to MF for power supply suggestions.tomgray56
Overall: I recently picked up an inexpensive Bugera rig for live gigs, which was great "oomf" for the price, but it didn't quite have the tone or character I wanted. Very flat sound, but affordable! Enter the SCR-DI! I wanted something with some crunch built in, that also had DI out. But the headphone out and AUX in on this definitely peaked my interest, as its always nice to have after-hour practice options. I plugged it into my head, and as soon as I switched it on I was in tone heaven. Even with the EQ settings all set flat, this box gave my bass tone that color and chunk I was looking for. Then of course with the Ultra Hi/Lo settings there's even more flexibility on how round, snappy, or smooth you want. The scrambler sounds great. I prefer the drive and blend both set to 12-o'clock, just to give some crunch on the top end, that gets more dirty the harder you play. Cranked all the way is almost fuzz territory. The paint job makes it look plastic but it's a rugged all metal chassis so I'm sure this'll be part of my rig for a while. Overall I'm super pleased with this. Highly recommended if you're in need of a DI box or just looking for an all-in-one solution to make your rig sound more Ampeg-ish.Alexander
Sound: The pedal has a buffered sound. When not using the preamp, you'll need to use another pedal to boost volume levels. That said, I love the tone stack. The SVT sound really comes through. I really like the way my bass sounds through it. Can't really say if the tone stack "colors" the bass tone. For my style and my current bass set up in praise and worship (Yamaha TRBX305 with Aguilar Super Doubles and a Seymour Duncan STC-3P), I begin with my EQ set to noon. If I'm using a lot of finger style that day, I'll boost the mids to about 1 or 2 o clock, and sometimes the bass to about 1 o clock. For slap and funk tones, I like to set the bass and treble to 1 o clock. and mids at noon. Features: I love that I can use it as a practice amp. We went through some struggles recently and had to get rid of a fender halfstack and found myself with nothing to practice with. This pedal made practice possible. I'm not really a fan of the overdrive circuit, and currently have a love/hate relationship with it. The ultra-hi and lo settings are interesting. I don't use the ultra hi boost, but the ultra low I'll use with overdrive to help make up for any bottom end I lose. Sometimes I'll use it too if I need thick bass for something slow but epic. My only wish is that I could have slightly better EQ controls, specifically with the mids, maybe a parametric sweep, or even a switch with preset frequencies. Ease of Use: Very easy to use. Beware, if you put a battery into it, it will buffer your signal even if it's off. I really like that I can unscrew the back pack without the use of tools of any kinds. The rubber pads underneath are designed to also function as thumb screws, very easy to take off and replace, which makes replacing batteries on the fly a very simple task. Quality: The pedal feels heavy and tough, but I cannot yet speak on it's reliability although it hasn't failed yet. Value: It's expensive but worth it. The Wow Factor: No real wow factor. It is a nice solid pedal but nothing crazy or particularly special about it. Overall: I love this pedal. My purpose for purchasing this pedal was to improve my bass tone. I figured the best way was to look for something I could use to split my signal between the stage amp and the house system at my church. I'm not a fan of the stage rig we use, so this pedal allows me to bypass the rig. The best part was the added unexpected bonus of total ground noise elimination! For some reason, utilizing the XLR output from the amp head to the house resulted in ungodly amounts of noise. I now get a cleaner signal to the house and can better control my volume (the stage rig is very old and has sensitive volume controls).Christian

Wasn't expecting more than a good D. I. Box. After using it at my band rehearsal it's now become essential. It has made my ashdown drive pedal obsolete, cleaned up the bottom end in my tone and the whole band. I use a Spector Legend 6 Bass. I'm In a band with two bassists, drums and vocals. We both Bi-amp. A bass amp and a guitar amp. Getting these to all work together can be a real headache… But this has improved things so much, that the other bassist has one now. Tone very comparable to an ampeg type- Growly, very tight and controllable bottom end, doesn't "fart out" on Max. Top end can be moved between airy and crunchy. Build quality It is plastic, but I have no worries. I'm sure if I stomped on the 1/4" Jack, it would damage, but I keep mine on the pedal board anyway. Value Beyond comparison. I can't think of a better spent 20. The sansamp it's cloning is at least 8 times more expensive. And although it's better in some areas, (metal casing etc), sound-wise there's little to choose between them. At this price, in the unlikely event it broke, I'd just buy another. I have recorded using this, and it has very little noise, But massive tone. If it sounds good in an amplifier, it really comes into its own recorded. Save yourself a couple of grandon an svt, and just use this. Yes, really. I would highly recommend this pedal/D.I.snailsetsnail
Obviously with Behringer you are likely trying to save some cash instead of getting something "name brand." When I would record DI bass guitar, I used to run it through a distortion or fuzz pedal to get a more natural sounding gain. The V-Tone pedal is very good in that regard. Turn the presence, drive, and blend knobs all the way up and adjust the EQ to your liking and you get a mean crunch while keeping the clack of loose strings. That is about the limit of this pedal's potential, at least for me. Any adjustment to those knobs to turn down the distortion results in a sound nearly identical with just a clean DI with no pedal or preamp at all. It's as if turning them up from 1 to 8 has no effect until you get them to 9 and 10. Another flaw I've found is the high gain settings bring along a high pitched whistle that occurs randomly during playing, though it seems to happen with a lot of string rattle from long, held notes. It doesn't stand out when it's mixed with drums and a wall of guitars, though. I've only used it as a DI for recording, never as a preamp or DI for a PA or anything like that, it's possible it could be really good for those. I am happy with it to record bass for my doom, black metal, and mathcore kind of music, but wouldn't go to it for anything else.Jacob
I recently purchased the guitar version (GDI21) and was quick to get this bass version soon after. I own a rack mount Tech21 Sansamp RBI unit which has been excellent for me thru the years live. Also, their V1 VT Bass pedal has been a mainstay for me in a live setting. This is a very good clone of the BDDI with potential issues if used in a live setting. These are: Cheezy and fragile On/Off foot switch, and Illegible knobs. I have no idea where the knobs are set at any given time. Aside from that, I like this as a desk top companion to my other tone shapers such as the MXR M80 and M81 Bass Preamps. I get a variety of good, useable tones out of this one box. In fact, this has replaced the distortion patches I was using on my trusty DOD Bass 30 entirely. To say that I am happy with any stock stompbox is a big deal, because I have only a few left in my collection that I haven't modified the circuitry in to better suit me. This is one of the few originals, and that says volumes. I step on mine regularly, and haven't had any issues with it. I'm not a bass player, but I play one on my records. I've been playing lead guitar for 20 years, and I know good sounds. I say this to inform you that my credentials are in good order. You can get any sort of growl you want, thick or thin- and as much or little of the clean as you need to retain the punch at the same time. The only thing I would change is the color of the box… Since that has absolutely nothing to do with the sound it makes, I'm fine with it. Seriously, I was skeptical too when I saw the price. I got this a while back to add a some gain to play a bit of metal with a bit of overdrive on top as well as fattening the sound of the bass. Unfortunately this will never give you a "smooth" gain sound like having a guitar amp's gain around 2. Having gain down all the way shuts off all sound to the amp, and having it around 2/10 puts on a harsh brittle overdrive no matter the EQ. Sounds a little better with flatwound strings. This pedal goes all out or nothing. If a "Hysteria" sound is what you're going for, this will do it but not a true amp low/med-gain sound.Fear

Very convenient pedal that takes up very little space but does a whole lot. it has a quality preamp and di, so you can go straight to the board and leave the amp at home if you wish. you also get some key effects: chorus, octaver, fuzz/synth, boost, and tuner. for a lot of bass players, this maybe all they need. i bought it because i wanted a small set up for my gigs that i wasn't going to need a lot of effects for or need to drastically change my tone from song to song. it served its purpose well until i bought my helix. once i got that, i just had to bring it to all my gigs. so i haven't been using this pedal anymore and probably won't anytime soon, thus why i'm listing it. it still works great but does have a bit of cosmetic wear on it (as shown in the pics).

This is a great multi effects pedal/DI. Its all I need. Dont let its small size fool you. Its got some weight to it, so I assume its probably well built. All metal. Each effects sections knobs light up a different color. Tuner is accurate. I didnt give a full 5 stars because I wouldve liked a rate knob in the chorus section & maybe some more options in the compressor section. Overall, I recommend this pedal. Pleasantly surprised with the build & sound quality. I doubt Ill use the Dirty Q (envelope filter) much but its there if I need it. Sometimes you need the low ends of the B-string of a 5-string bass. I have one but I dont like playing on it. I am a 4-string player!. My solution for those B-string needed songs: the Aguilar Octamizer. It works great. The sound is good. The Octamizer is monophonic so I had to work a bit on my playing style. Warning: watch your bass cabinet!!

Overall: I really wanted to like this pedal because of its fuzz effect, which is very good. The distortion was O.K. but not the best, although it is workable. The biggest problem with this pedal is the fact that the clean mix does not work 100%. It is too slight and does not give you much room for keeping your bass fundamental tone. Your sound loses its bottom end. Not good!! I believe this is a huge mistake in the part of the person who designed this pedal because it is marketed to bassists. If a bassist cannot get a strong low end s/he will take that pedal and get rid of it; rightfully so! Which is what I did.

A good unit that is extremely versatile. Plenty of options and some really good effects. I was mainly interested in chorus and a couple of effects so the range offered is a bonus. A couple of issues that are a little annoying but don't really detract: Can't swap between banks using a pedal. It is necessary to bend down or pick it up to make that change. You can set up and move effects so that should help. Pedal is sensitive and has a tendency to move. Can be altered. It would be good if you could bypass the pedal. As a bass player I don't usually worry about increasing or decreasing volume – that is done with the fingers or with the pots Nothing in the manual about bypassing effects. I had to find it through the net. It is very simple- just hold down both pedals (tuning mode). I am very happy with it though and would recommend it. Especially to people who want a great selection of effects without the expense of multiple pedals, even if dedicated pedals might give a slightly more nuanced soundDr N.

This pedal is for users who are very capable at dialling in. Equally this pedal makes for a good starter pedal if you just want to experience overdrive and what that does to your sound. But for everyone else, I think the natural mid boost gives a little too much mud to be a popular pedal board decision over more modern pedals. The main difference in a Tube Screamer and the Boss SD-1 is the type of clipping. SD-1 utilizes asymmetrical clipping, and a Tube Screamer uses symmetrical clipping. They both have a mid-hump as for as the EQ curve. You can use them both as boosts into other pedals or amps. As straight up overdrives, the Tube Screamer often sounds like a layer of dirty and a layer of clean, where as with the SD-1, you get the single layer of dirty because of the circuit's clipping type. Either are great. Some prefer one over the other. I have both the TS and the Boss. Either work great with many configurations, and in some cases you might prefer one to the other with a particular setup. After watching a few John5 interviews it dawned on me he doesn't use many pedals. But this is one he does use, so got me interested. Did some homework Dagan mentioned it on the pedal review and I thought yeah let's get it. Amazing pedal built like a tank, super tough. Currently I have just this an a NS-2. I only have a cheaper Blackstar Amp but this paired with passive-pickups sounds epic! I have this wired into the send and receive jacks on the NS-2 and it sounds the best.Bradley B.

Sound: OK, so the pre-set programs are hit and miss for me. But that had to be expected, as I am not plugging a guitar into it, but rather a Korg RK100-S2 keytar. For obvious reasons, the cleaner patches, and patches designed around arpeggios sound decent, while the shredding metal patches sound like ass. I'm sure they would both sound good if I was hooked up with an actual 6 string. Features: The most useful feature as far as I'm concerned, are all of those knobs all over the front of the unit. They make it so easy to dial in the sound. Especially when compared to the all digital products like the GT-1. I had a GT-1B last year, and it was aggravating to modify sounds on the fly. The other most useful feature is the Tone Central app. OMG!!! Last month, I trashed Korg's design decision in their app for modifying the keytar's sounds. The window can't be resized, the lines of text are nearly microscopic, it isn't REMOTELY intuitive to figure out how to re-write the patches. Boss' Tone Central app is the EXACT OPPOSITE of all of that. Full screen, each effect section is on screen alone and has 3 different ways to modify the settings. Get things the way you want, name your patch, and click "write," then choose where you want it saved, and click "OK." It couldn't be simpler. Ease of Use: If the preset patches are hit and miss, the "manual mode" is why I bought this board. The keytar really needs some effects to come alive. This board is simply a placeholder until I can build a quality keytar/synth specific pedal board. Compression, delay, and/or phasers can add a lot of depth to my sound depending on what I'm currently using. Those dials make it super easy to get the sound right quickly. It does sort of suck that they are on the floor, but how could that have been avoided without bluetooth and a phone app? And, if that was the case, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place! Quality: I bought this "blemished." My guess, based on the condition of the box that the factory shipped to zZounds, is that this took a fall off of a shelf in the warehouse. One end of the box was mangled badly! Thanks to Boss' attention to detail in packaging, and legendary build quality, I got this product without a scuff, scratch, or dent for 20% off. I like that build quality. (Feel free to play football with some of those synth specific stomp boxes guys! *wink-wink*) Value: Before my fretting hand got too badly damaged to play bass anymore, I wanted the bass version of this product. I believe that it was discontinued, and I missed my chance. I got the GT-1B but didn't like working with it. When I saw that this was available, I didn't hesitate to put it into my cart. Only then, after the fact, did I realize that it was in "blemished" condition. I almost went back and put a new, full priced one in my cart simply because I didn't want the hassle of potentially returning a broken product. So, yes, I do believe this is worth the normal retail price. Manufacturer Support: In the 12 years I've been playing, I've owned several Boss products from tuners to metronomes to multi effects pedals and I have NEVER had to reach out for support. In my estimation, that's the BEST form of customer service! The Wow Factor: G.A.S.! I can't play guitar a lick. But I've bought guitars in the past simply to hang them on the wall. I can't say that I would ever buy THIS product if I didn't need it. But I'm sure that it will still find some place in my home studio, even after the actual pedal board is complete Overall: An easy recommendation for the guitarist on a budget. Depending on one's needs, stomp boxes and pedal boards can become quite pricey. Between this, the Tone Central app, and the hundreds of additional patches available there, if you can't get the sound you're looking for, the problem lies mostly with you.
I have been buying and selling multi effects for many years. I loved them all, even the silly ones such as the RP50, 505, ME30..too many. I guess my favorites were the Korg AX3000G(which I thought was ahead of its time) and the Digitech RP500(awesome reverbs, mods and filters),and even some Pods for their amp sims too. Yes yes.. they all had their short comings in different avenues.. Boss reliability is were a part of Ny early playing days since the 80s..and to this day, I use Boss single pedals almost exclusively as my main rig. I just love the simplicity of their individual pedals and this unit is the only one that comes close in terms of the logic of its settings. I love KNOBS, and the ME80 has plenty to go around with. SIMPLICITY is the key . No more scrolling up n down a screen on the floor which I can hardly see. Now is the ME80 the best sounding multi-effect out there? No sir! With all the current technologies which can produce units such as The Kemper, Fractals, Boss GT1000, and other high res IR capable units from Zoom and Line 6(including some very capable Chinese newcomers), the ME80 can be seen as kind of outdated to some, The ME80 is certainly not what the top guns use these days, especially when occupying an arena concert stages I'm sure(but I bet they still use one or two boss pedals in their rig lol)..Also, Let's not forget that the ME80 initial introduction day to the world was just about eight years ago.. shall we? But guess what, it's still alive and kicking! And that is exactly why you still see it here for sake in 2022 ar least until Boss comes out with some new monster that can handle the GT1000 chipsets and adding more KNOBS to its chassis. The ME80 is gorgeous, it sounds good, and it has a personality. It also has more to offer than its predecessors such as the ME50/70..I mean, the addition of a separate footswitch for reverb,EQ and a simple patch recall?? I would recommend this unit for any small club or a tight rehearsal space for a quick setup and a speedy wrap-up after a show, when it's finally time to go home, no patch cables required.I AM KEEPING THIS ONE FOR MYSELF! Till I get to warm up for Bruno Mars(not happening soon lol),My main Boss rig is staying home, and that goes to my crybaby and the Budda volume pedal with all them patch cables entourage.James
I don't want to program guitar effects. I don't want to read cheesy names for effects that I can't immediately recognize or understand. The young people like that stuff but I am old and old school. The ME-80 gives me my old stomp boxes but grouped on a modern platform. It is basically foot pedal controlled with a very nice expression pedal and 8 on-off pedals. The foot pedals work flawlessly. But the thing that makes this unit awesome is the knobs. You can turn a knob, set a value and get instant feedback on what you did and look at it anytime to see what it is set at. If you know stomp boxes then you know exactly how this thing works. It has by my estimation about $4K worth of stomp box effects and amp emulations. Whether you want an old Tube Screamer or a Big Muff Fuzz. This thing has it. And it has many new stomp box effects like the amazing Tera Echo, Harmonist, Freeze and a Looper. It has just about every effect you could want and you can play multiple effects at the same time. As far as I am concerned this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I am an original POD user. I still plug into the POD now and then. But the POD is history. The ME-80 is what I like today. I even commissioned a guy to build me an angled stand to boost up the knobs and pedal to make it easier for me to dial in changes. I had it painted orange to match my Orange Crush 35RT amp where I port the ME-80 output. Lastly, if you insist on being a programmer, they let you do that as well and offer a ton of presets online. You can hook up by USB to your computer and program away. Brilliant. The one down side… you have to buy an AC/DC adaptor for $30 or use up a lot of batteries. Well since I figure that I saved over $3,600 compared to the cost of all these effects bought stand-alone, I happily coughed up the $30.Brianne
