The ONLY reason I gave this pedal 4 out of 5 stars, is that the TRS cable is hardwired to the unit. This causes at least two issues; if the cable goes bad, I have to either replace the unit, or hack it for a TRS jack. Second, it comes with a six-foot cable. I only need about 2 feet of cable from my pedalboard. So, I have to wrap up the excess and tuck it somewhere out of the way. I like to keep my pedals and cables neat, so this doesn't help. Other than that, the pedal works great. The sensitivity knob on the side is smooth and feels like it will hold up well. The pedal itself is surprisingly solid and travels smoothly. For $20, you really can't go wrong with this.seasidemessiah
I currently use this as my 2nd expression pedal with the Headrush. Before that I used 2 of them with the Boss GT-1000. Things I love: nice feel, low profile, lightweight, looks nice, on the smaller side so good for pedalboard (or in my case, cramming next to the huge Headrush). Personally, I would prefer it didn't have the long-ish attached cable because I'd like to use my own shorter patch cable, but it's a minor issue and I could alter it if I really cared that much. Don't let the super low price fool you, it's a legit alternative to bulkier, heavier, and pricier options, coming from someone who has owned Ernie Ball, Dunlop, Moog, and Line 6 pedals for this same purpose.Matt F
I had my eye on the Boss Reverb RV-6 for a lot of reasons and I felt excited about the expression jack. Obviously I didn't wanna pay full price for the "official" Roland expression pedal because… priorities! I was skeptical about quality but I ordered this knowing sweetwater has my back for 2 years. Flash Forward to me plugging everything in and strumming that first big reverberated chord. Ah yes, glorious. Just had to flip the polarity switch and we were in business. The control knob let me dial in the amount of reverb I want when the heel is down or "off". For example, you can have the heel down and still dial in alot of reverb.The knob works like a horizontal scroll bar on a computer/website if that makes sense. The sweep from heel to toe isn't amazing or huge but it's nothing to complain about. Behringer prices for utility pedals is what we love.

I would rate this product really high for all of its features but it I have two real complaints. The biggest drawback is the difficult programming. I am using this unit to control a lighting console that requires 'note on' midi signals. If you are using it for a guitar rig that uses 'program changes' it will probably work for you without so much hassle. I am a very tech savy guy and this thing came close to being sent back. It comes with NO instruction manual. You must download it off the internet. That being said, the manual was clear as mud. After several days of agony (I'd think I had it figured out, but it wouldn't work) I finally found the answer on a forum on the internet. Yes…you have to hit the Note button TWICE!! Once to illuminate, the second time to flash..then 'Enter'. Now it works for me. If only the manual had thoroughly explained this! Many people seem to give up and program it with thier computer (with a midi set up of course). The second complaint I have is the FCB1010's enormous size. This thing is massive. When playing guitar I am not a pedal user and I am not use to having anything on the floor except a tiny channel switch. Having to drag this thing around to run the lights doesn't thrill me…but until I can afford a lighting guy, this will have to do. One of the few footswitches that will do all three types of midi signals. Lots of features enabling it to handle simple to very complex rigs. Haven't had it long but it seems to be built pretty robust (as much as can be with todays products being made with so much plastic). The body is metal, the pedals are plastic. The unit is very large and heavy for a footswitch. There are only two pedals I can find that will send midi note signals. This unit costs half of what the other did so I guess it makes it an OK value. Getting through the programming is the hardest part.
I'm surprised there aren't more boards like this, but thankfully it does everything I need 🙂 The manual is a joke but there are plenty of great online guides, videos, and even third party software to help program it. You'll need to learn about the different types of MIDI signals, and you'll probably need to change the settings for if to be useful for your particular software. This can be daunting: but the great thing is that every foot switch can be programmed to send up to ten MIDI signals at once (including two CC settings for the two expression pedals). So even though there are two exp pedals: there's kinda 200! (10 switches and 10 banks). The switches all default to "program change" MIDI signals, which I found pretty unuseful, but they can all be changed to CC signals (eg 0/127 toggle or any value you like, on any CC# you like) or even "note" signals if you want to say control a synth bass line as you play!opium32
THIS IS MY FIRST "MIDI" CONTROLLER OTHER THAN FOOT CONTROLLERS THAT COME WITH UNITS. I WAS UNSURE HOW IT WOULD WORK BECAUSE IT WAS NOT MADE BY THE PROCESSOR UNIT I HAD. BEHRENGER MAKES EXCELLENT PRODUCTS AND THIS IS NO EXCEPTION. HEAVY DUTY CHASIS AND SWITCHES ARE JUST THE OBVIOUS WHEN I OPENED THE BOX. I'M USING IT WITH AN AVID ELEVEN RACK BECAUSE THE AVID FOOT CONTROLLER WAS $400 OPPOSED TO THE $100 FOR THE BEHRENGER UNIT. IT DOES EVERYTHING I NEED IT TO DO AND MORE. IT CONTROLS EVERY PATCH CHANGE I CREATED AND EVEN THE PARAMETERS IN THE PATCHES SO I CAN CHANGE THE TONES INSIDE OF EACH ONE. I HAVEN'T EVEN SCRATCHED THE SURFACE OF WHAT THIS UNIT IS CAPABLE OF YET. THE EXPRESSION PEDALS FEEL AND WORK GREAT UNDER FOOT AND REDUCE THE NUMBER OF UNITS ON THE FLOOR. THEY'RE NOT AS GOOD AS SOME STAND ALONE WAHS OR VOLUME CONTROLS BUT ARE GOOD ENOUGH FOR MOST GIGS. Short review: This product is solid, lightweight, the switches work perfectly, and most of all, you simply plug it in and it works every time! Long review: I personally use the UM13 for controlling Logic X. I perform live with a guitar and sing along with backup tracks. I have it stop/play, advance to next marker, and previous marker. I was using an Apogee Gio and it would have trouble sleeping, so I would have to restart the computer, or it would freeze up, and the buttons were unstable, so this is a pleasant improvement for me. It's great, very well built and seems to work well. But there is a complete lack of documentation and data on setting up and using and as it's new there's only one short video on Youtube and thanks to that I managed to get it going but I'm never quite sure if I'm getting the best from it. The annoying thing is I rejected another one for the same price that seemed to have more features but reviews said it lacked documentation so picked the Blackstar because I assumed such a well known make would have that sorted. I bought my Coreblade (from 123) without a footswitch. It's a necessity to store settings to a preset other than the one you're currently on. The manual talks about it being able to be used with other MIDI footswitches, but through trial and error, you have to put things in a specific order. There is NO ONE to talk to about this. No info in the forum, and unless you want to pony up for a call to Germany, you won't get their American distributor, Yorkville. 5 calls have gone unreturned. Also, bc the manual is for Coreblade AND TubeMeister, it's not clear as to which MIDI cc's work for Coreblade. Again… trial and error. I will tell you that using a pedal to sending cc values on either cc 126 or 127 (can't remember) results in a factory reset!!! Certainly not Music123's fault, but there's just no support for H & K in the US or Canada right now. I'm using it only to move and store patches only – for gigs, I just send PC #'s through my Ground Control Pro – easy enough…MadMax

Got the is pedal with the GM36 and it works well. For the price, it'd be nice if there were a tuner feature or a display for patch names. With the iPod app, you can name your patches but you can never see what they are with his pedal. Might be better off spending a few extra bucks and getting like a Ground Control or another MIDI pedal that has a better display. Overall though, the pedal does what it's supposed to do and does it well. Plus, the cable that came with it is super long, so that was nice.Brian

This is a great controller. I am running a Mesa head with a G-Force effect processer. It is wonderful to change the effect of the G-Force and the channel on the head with one press of a button. The FC-300 MIDI foot controller is a rugged floorboard that gives you complete realtime control over all your MIDI devices. If you're familiar with Rolands older V-Bass or V-Guitar floor modules, or their GT series effects processors, you know the basic physical layout of this unit, and the quality and durability of its parts. There are no flimsy plastic components, and you'd have to work really hard to do any damage to its tough metal chassis. The two Expression Pedals have very smooth travel and output evenly throughout their full range. Theres just enough resistance to allow the pedal to stop securely at any point along its excursion, great if you want to capture a particular filter notch in a wah or synth, or the sweet spot in a volume sweep. In fully depressed position, there are on/off switches that are easy to access without putting all your weight on them, and yet they will not switch too easily so you don't have to worry about accidentally switching them on or off. The two Control Pedals can be set for latch or momentary operation. The Expression and Control Pedals are each assignable to virtually any two controllable parameters. There are two Mode Pedals, generally intended as Bank Up and Down controls, or to switch between Modes when depressed simultaneously. There are five Patch Pedals, each of which can select two patches within any bank. Depending on which of the four Modes is selected (standard, control, sys ex, or patch) each of the pedals can be assigned somewhat different if related functions. All pedals have associated lights to let you know exactly whats currently engaged. The two-line LCD allows for 16 characters per row, so you can have a pretty thorough designation for each selected patch. The variable intensity lighting in the LCD display insures that the characters are clear and easy to read in any lighting. If you need more control, the FC-300 has three additional jacks for connecting external Expression or Control Pedals, and a dedicated Mode jack for a pedal just to switch among Modes. There are even Amp Control jacks so you can switch between amp channels and their effects if your amp allows for that. Because this is a MIDI controller, of course there are MIDI in and out jacks too! The FC-300 has an onboard memory of 8 KB, and is capable of storing 100 separate Patches. If you have a very extensive MIDI set-up and somehow need more than 100 onboard Patches, that may be the only limitation you'll find with this controller. Full disclosure, this is more than Ive attempted with mine so far, but thats on the horizon. While a full-featured MIDI controller able to work with all MIDI devices, the FC-300 is optimized for both the VG-99 and the VB-99, and communicates with them so seamlessly that all programming is effortless and automatic. Ive only used mine with the VB-99, and I couldn't be happier with just how transparently easy it is to use, and how perfectly all the functions perform. No need to be fluent in MIDI if thats your main use for this. The FC-300 can be powered by an external power supply or internal batteries, but as an additional bonus when connected to the VB-99 through Rolands RRC2 cable (their proprietary CAT5 cable), it derives all its power from that. That eliminates the need for a separate power cord or MIDI cables to the VB-99 too, helping to minimize stage or studio clutter. The FC-300 isnt a sexy device, but its an extraordinarily functional one and will make your life a lot easier. Packed with features, as versatile as you could want, expandable with external pedals, and built solidly enough to withstand all the rigors of the road, Roland got this one exactly right.

I've been playing professionally since 1972 – starting with organ and electric piano. Always liked using pedals on organ, but became problem when I got rid of the full organ. Had a one octave Multivox set which they no longer make. Had Elka DMP 18 for about 25 years – also, no longer made. These have proven to be a pretty good alternative after the Elka started going. I own 3 sets of the 17 key version which are no longer made – these are a little lighter construction than the Elka pedals but have been more than adequate for more than 4 years. I have them hooked up to Novation Bass Station or A-station and do most of the selections for octaves, sound from the modules rather than the pedals. Overall I've been very satisfied with these pedals – I'm sure the 13 key versions are similar quality.RCK
I bought this mainly because I only needed it for my organ rig. All the others are so expensive but its because they're loaded with advanced features an organ player doesn't need. The only thing I have to do is select the midi channel I want it to transmit on, and I'm all set. 2 things that would make this pedalboard better would be a power switch and the ability to remember the changes you made before turning it off. But it takes like 10 seconds to select the transmit midi channel. Overall I really like this pedalboard. Just don't go throwing it off any balcony's and I think you'll be okay.Hammondman-SEnIv

I would rate this product really high for all of its features but it I have two real complaints. The biggest drawback is the difficult programming. I am using this unit to control a lighting console that requires 'note on' midi signals. If you are using it for a guitar rig that uses 'program changes' it will probably work for you without so much hassle. I am a very tech savy guy and this thing came close to being sent back. It comes with NO instruction manual. You must download it off the internet. That being said, the manual was clear as mud. After several days of agony (I'd think I had it figured out, but it wouldn't work) I finally found the answer on a forum on the internet. Yes…you have to hit the Note button TWICE!! Once to illuminate, the second time to flash..then 'Enter'. Now it works for me. If only the manual had thoroughly explained this! Many people seem to give up and program it with thier computer (with a midi set up of course). The second complaint I have is the FCB1010's enormous size. This thing is massive. When playing guitar I am not a pedal user and I am not use to having anything on the floor except a tiny channel switch. Having to drag this thing around to run the lights doesn't thrill me…but until I can afford a lighting guy, this will have to do. One of the few footswitches that will do all three types of midi signals. Lots of features enabling it to handle simple to very complex rigs. Haven't had it long but it seems to be built pretty robust (as much as can be with todays products being made with so much plastic). The body is metal, the pedals are plastic. The unit is very large and heavy for a footswitch. There are only two pedals I can find that will send midi note signals. This unit costs half of what the other did so I guess it makes it an OK value. Getting through the programming is the hardest part.
I'm surprised there aren't more boards like this, but thankfully it does everything I need 🙂 The manual is a joke but there are plenty of great online guides, videos, and even third party software to help program it. You'll need to learn about the different types of MIDI signals, and you'll probably need to change the settings for if to be useful for your particular software. This can be daunting: but the great thing is that every foot switch can be programmed to send up to ten MIDI signals at once (including two CC settings for the two expression pedals). So even though there are two exp pedals: there's kinda 200! (10 switches and 10 banks). The switches all default to "program change" MIDI signals, which I found pretty unuseful, but they can all be changed to CC signals (eg 0/127 toggle or any value you like, on any CC# you like) or even "note" signals if you want to say control a synth bass line as you play!opium32

The M-Audio EX-P expression pedal is a simple, no frills, budget expression pedal. It has a polarity switch to ensure compatibility in most cases. I can confirm that it works well with the Zoom G3 guitar multi-FX. The pedal is plastic. It seems fairly robust, but obviously the material of its construction means it will only take limited punishment and will probably have a limited lifespan. That said, I've used it at band rehearsals (and will try gigging with it) and it is holding up so far. For the price, one could probably afford to get one or two additional pedals as backups and still spend less than it would cost to get a sturdier metal expression pedal. Been meaning to buy an expression pedal for my midi keyboard for some time, so did a search and the M-Audio expression pedal came up at a great price. I already have the M-Audio sustain pedal on my keyboard and have used M-Audio soundcards in the past so know the brand to be good quality and value, so bought this pedal. I wasn't disappointed, the pedal looks a bit plasticy but is actually more solid than it looks, I wouldn't gig with it but for use in a home studio it is just the job. It responds well in use and I immediately experienced what a difference it made to making my keyboard tracks more expressive. It feels nice to use and has a very smooth action. It was delivered ahead of schedule by Maplin who also had the best price after a search of various suppliers. This is an amazing pedal. if you need a compressor this pedal has 6 different compressor settings that can all be controlled via midi. the blend control is super useful for dialing in exactly how much of the compressed signal you want. the eq is a 3 band eq with bass, middle, and treble. this is a great tool to use to shape your tone. i used it for when i ran a rig with two guitars so that i never lost any frequencies that i wanted that another guitar may not have had a enough of. the boost or bloom as jackson audio calls it starts at unity gain and goes up from the tiniest boost all the way to a what ll make some amps sound like it had its drive turned to 12. overall a very dynamic and useful pedal.i also have the original box included.

I have tried a LOT of compressors over the years, never kept any of them (as a solo boost) I can dial in the perfect amount of compression without killing the dynamics of the amp along with a mid boost and slight treble roll off to make my amp sing! I run the gain on the amp about 3 for "clean" and use the Bloom boost with just a little bit of bump to get into fat crunch and then the comp plus eq for solos. All controlled via MIDI Transparent, doesn't jack with my tone. I borrowed a friend's Synergy Syn 1 with the DS module for a week with the intention of buying one.. no more.Charles
Overall: This optical compressor, EQ, and boost pedal is an all around work horse. The optical compression is really smooth and subtle, which I prefer! The presets are nice to dial in different types and they can be tweaked via MIDI if you're looking for that level of tweakability. I found myself setting it the country mode and really only tweaking the blend knob to control the overall sound of the comp. I like that I can keep as much dry signal as I want to retain some of the dynamic while really pushing the compressed frequencies. The boost is a standard clean boost that adds nice clarity and sparkle. Then you have a three band EQ that adds extra flexibility. All three effects can be turned on and off independently of each other and their is a "bloom" mode with the boost where it will swell in if you press and hold. That's a nice little trick but I don't think I'll use it too much since the boost is almost always on. I use this as a table setter for the rest of my rig now. Great choice for anyone looking for studio quality optical compression!Adam

I've owned several midi pedals. This is the coolest one I've owned. I don't use 128 patches in my guitar rig. I use a maximum of 5. I just want to switch to them when I'm playing. That's all this does. No programming class required. I just set my patches for my preamp and rack effects and I plug in the midi mouse and scroll and step on the number I need. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase, it works well, fits well into my pedal board set up and works with all of my 5 pin Midi units. Awesome. This thing is rare. most midi pedals are massive and elaborate. I needed something simple and this is perfect. I can actively search for presets or inactive meaning if I need to go from preset 12 to 23, I can go right from one to the other without the sound changes in between. You can also up and down bank actively hearing every preset in between. Nice having options. Light weight, but metal, not plastic. Could possibly survive a small drop, but probably nothing higher than 3 or 4 ft, you're buying a new one. Bouncy trailers and crouched down fumbles should be ok. Buttons are very common, therefore easily replaceable if need be. About what I expected to pay, but props to Tech 21 for having such great packaging to proctect it during shipping or storage. I am a Newby to Midi stuff all though I have played Guitar for 30 years , I have allways steered away from Midi the fear of the un-knowen the frist time I seen Midi anything was in the 1980's no body I new had any Idea what it was . I draged my feet on buying the Voodoo lab ground controller for 3 months so I took a chance and I have only used it with my T.C. Electronics G Major 2 and it is great there is no lag time when I change banks/ channels when I push the button on the Voodoo lab ground controller pro the channel on my G major 2 changes instintly no lag time I can't wait to buy the voodoo lab GCX. to go with the Ground controller after reading the manual the possabilitys are endless with the GCX and the GC pro. you can run your effects in series and series parellel or parellel which gives you more dynamics and ton controlle of you effects peddels The two units together can make your effects peddels sound lke a effects processer but give you more controlle the normail way people run there effects is in series, through the front of the amp or through the effects loop but the peddles are still in series with each other most effects proccers run the indavidual effects in series/parellel or both series and parellel the Voodoo lab GC Pro and Voodoo lab GCX will allow you to do just that with your own peddels that you already have . its very Cool!!!!! but that is buying both units to do this I only wish the manual or thier webb sight or a tech at Musicians Friend gave you more info on linking up with various MIDI equipment I am a MIDI newby as features go, I don't no enough about it at this time but all of my resurch has showen befor buying this unit the Voodoo Lab Ground Controller Pro is the Cats meow !!!! as far as MIDI controller for Guitar equipment Voodoo Lab Ground Controller Pro is very ruged and sturdy and Road ready very well made Made in the USA!!!!! it is priced well for the quality its is well made I am impressed
Here's the thing…This piece of equipment when paired with the GCX is phenomenol. I have pedals, an amp, and a G-Major that I can all switch with this piece of equipment (when paired with the GCX of course). I think I have run into the situation of being 100% completely satisfied with how I change/manage my rig when playing a show. Let me tell you, it brings quite the smile on your face when with the press of one button you can change multiple settings without doing a river dance.The only downside (very minimal) is that it took me awhile to set it up with everything. I was not familiar with MIDI at the start but I understood the concept. The manual is helpful to an extent but in my opinion could have been written better. Just as a reference, I had 3 manuals out, this one, the GCX's, and the G-Major's. You really don't understand what this thing is capable of doing until you start clicking around yourself. The VooDoo Labs Ground Control Pro is the greatest invention since the creation of cold beer! (Maybe the only thing better is the GCX that goes along with the Ground Control) This piece of equipment allows a musician to change the effects in his rack and also the channel on his amp head with the push of a button. Literally, if you purchase the GCX you can change everything that is MIDI controlled with one button. The Ground Control Pro is easy to use and is very strait forward. I have never been happier with a piece of equipment. The GCX and Ground Control is not just for people that have all rack mounted equipment; a rack is required (obviously) to house the GCX, but it can be used to turn on and off stomp boxes and also an A/B switcher for two amplifiers. As a matter of fact, the only thing the GCX and Ground Control Pro can not do is???get you a cold beer! Works well but complicated and is manual hard to understand. Questions submitted to customer support were answered well and promptly. Having an in and out on each loop (in addition to a send and return) allows for support of stereo effects — but be aware that you will consume two loops for each stereo effect. It's midi implementation is better than the other brand's product that is very similar (but you may want to consult their website for better hookup example diagrams). Works well with Roland FC-300 footswitch. These are the important features for me:1. Everything is assignable/programmable to almost anything in the MIDI spec – control changes, patch (program) changes, and even polyphonic note triggers. 2. MIDI input MERGES with the MIDI Out – an important and handy feature. There is also a WX input which can be used instead of the MIDI in.3. There are 4 (Four!) cv inputs, so including the built-in cv pedal you can have FIVE cv pedals (or any cv controller). Other pedal boards have fewer controller inputs, and they are often just switch, not cv, inputs.4. Can have up to 100 different button pedals, in groups of ten (basically 10 banks of ten) in the mode I use.5. Control changes on the button pedals can be toggle (like an on/off switch) or normal triggers (like a sustain pedal).This thing is sturdy – I've been stomping on mine for more than five years now. It is the best of all the pedal boards that I've considered (the Behringer looks good, but I haven't tried it), but there are drawbacks. The three annoying drawbacks:1. Note triggers can't be set to toggle – this is a BIG drawback in my opinion, but there usually are work arounds on your other gear if you need to do this. Forget being able, at least easily, to turn on and off a looped sample from this board. Depending on your other gear there are work arounds. But it is fine for one-shot triggers.2. You can't combine note triggers with control changes on the same button. (So you can't work around problem #1 by having a sustain toggle on the same button as a note trigger. You can have them on adjacent buttons if you're good with your feet – because it CAN simultaneously send data from two pedals, but this is too inelegant for me.)3. Whenever I turn my controller keyboard on or off, the MFC10 gets an error and won't do anything. But this is a minor annoyance because a tap of the "exit" button brings it back to normal in less than two seconds. It's probably due to some incompatible settings that I've been too lazy to find.4. The supplied wall wart's cable is too short. I'd give 4.75 stars if possible because I love the unit, but the annoyances keep me from giving it a perfect 5. The MFC-10 is central to my primary performance system, which uses a Roland AX-1 or AX-7 running into this unit, with Yamaha FC7s cv pedals connected to the MFC10. I've used this system to control a variety of gear, but this past year I've primarily used a Motif module. In my setup, the fc7s control volume of different channels; the built-in cv pedal controls modulation on channel the bottom row of buttons are usually a variety of sustain pedals (different channels, some with the toggle feature); the top row I use to trigger special effects sounds and to send patch changes in songs which have my hands too busy. In the past I've used the buttons as mute buttons, for panning effects, and to turn Leslie effects on and off for organ sounds. It can be used for almost anything. You can get creative with it!
