Overall: So I bought the Pacer to use with Ableton and out of the box it’s the equivalent of a door stop (just being honest). I did email Nektar before I made my purchase (awesome company) and knew I had some programming ahead. I watched a couple videos on You Tube, prior to its arrival, which made programming the pacer pretty straight forward. Nektar makes fantastic gear, but the included documentation is garbage. The Pacer truly an amazing midi controller. I use it for handsfree looping with my RC505 with ease! Live looping and switching between multiple instruments can prove to be very challenging at timesm. The Pacer allows me to transition smoothly and start right on the beat. Unlike other midi pedals I've purchased in the past, I don't feel limited with the Pacer. Lastly, I love the construction of the pedal itself. It feels incredibly durable! Its built like a tank. This is a great controller. I am running a Mesa head with a G-Force effect processer. It is wonderful to change the effect of the G-Force and the channel on the head with one press of a button. If you're familiar with Rolands older V-Bass or V-Guitar floor modules, or their GT series effects processors, you know the basic physical layout of this unit, and the quality and durability of its parts. There are no flimsy plastic components, and you'd have to work really hard to do any damage to its tough metal chassis. The two Expression Pedals have very smooth travel and output evenly throughout their full range. Theres just enough resistance to allow the pedal to stop securely at any point along its excursion, great if you want to capture a particular filter notch in a wah or synth, or the sweet spot in a volume sweep. In fully depressed position, there are on/off switches that are easy to access without putting all your weight on them, and yet they will not switch too easily so you don't have to worry about accidentally switching them on or off. The two Control Pedals can be set for latch or momentary operation. The Expression and Control Pedals are each assignable to virtually any two controllable parameters. There are two Mode Pedals, generally intended as Bank Up and Down controls, or to switch between Modes when depressed simultaneously. There are five Patch Pedals, each of which can select two patches within any bank. Depending on which of the four Modes is selected (standard, control, sys ex, or patch) each of the pedals can be assigned somewhat different if related functions. + Nice small form factor, well designed and fuss-free supporting software, 3 alternative means of powering (battery, usb and 9v). Simple and it works with little set-up. – a bit limited/basic compared to something like the Nectar Pacer (so many more programming possibilities) The unit I received did not sit true on the desk (wobbled) and the foot switches although fine but not as quiet and responsive as the Pacer for my needs. That said, PMT were quick to respond to my email and a refund was issued after a day of it being retuned to the shop 🙂Mark O.
It's great, very well built and seems to work well. But there is a complete lack of documentation and data on setting up and using and as it's new there's only one short video on Youtube and thanks to that I managed to get it going but I'm never quite sure if I'm getting the best from it. The annoying thing is I rejected another one for the same price that seemed to have more features but reviews said it lacked documentation so picked the Blackstar because I assumed such a well known make would have that sorted. Awesome, easy to use straight out of the box. No problems connecting to an ipad (using a usb camera adaptor), computer or keyboard (with the midi adaptor). Didn't need to install new drivers or anything for these devices to recognise the 12 step. I recommend updating the 12 step firmware, which is super simple and easy to do. Obviously it takes a bit of practice getting used to using your feet and also getting the dynamics with how hard to press down – but that's my own problem, not the product. Very impressed with the price, fast delivery and most of all how easy this thing was to connect to all the desired different devices. Also, it's extremely light and portable which is awesome.Caleb
I currently play bass guitar and use the Taurus 3 pedals. When I read about the 12-Step and the ability to do chords, I had to check it out. I already have a Roland Juno DS-61 synth on stage, so, a MIDI cable, and walla, chords. After three gigs here are my thoughts. Good value for the money. Pretty easy to program. I downloaded the software to my laptop, and it is pretty user friendly. I love how you can just click notes from the virtual keyboard at the bottom to create your chords. And you can assign any chord to any button. Or single notes. If you want to have 12 different C chords on one preset, no problem. I do presets by song. You can also leave buttons blank so they have no sound. This comes in handy as explained later. The MIDI Expander needed to run to a keyboard is a bit of a pain. Easy to set up, but three cables needed. Power, one to the pedal (both of those are included), and then the MIDI cable to your synth (not included). The cables are a bit sketchy – not very durable. The AC adapter has a wall wart and uses a USB-type plug in cable. Eh. The power to pedal is a small plug in like a Smart Phone. Kinda scary. Wouldn't take much of a wrong step to mess that up. Think putting your cell phone on the floor and stepping around it. Everyone has had those phone charger cables go bad – a bit worried about that. The pedal is solid, but connections seem more studio than built for live. But it works great. Very cool. And fun. Just as if I played the chords on the keyboard. HOWEVER, geez those buttons are close together. My 9.5 sneakers…. The Taurus of course is like an organ bass pedal, and I even sometimes step on the wrong one, especially while singing. What I've done is use one preset per song. I usually only need a few chords, so I spread them out among the 12 buttons, with some blank ones in between. Still challenging. This is an amazing pedal. if you need a compressor this pedal has 6 different compressor settings that can all be controlled via midi. the blend control is super useful for dialing in exactly how much of the compressed signal you want. the eq is a 3 band eq with bass, middle, and treble. this is a great tool to use to shape your tone. i used it for when i ran a rig with two guitars so that i never lost any frequencies that i wanted that another guitar may not have had a enough of. the boost or bloom as jackson audio calls it starts at unity gain and goes up from the tiniest boost all the way to a what ll make some amps sound like it had its drive turned to 12. overall a very dynamic and useful pedal.i also have the original box included.

I have tried a LOT of compressors over the years, never kept any of them (as a solo boost) I can dial in the perfect amount of compression without killing the dynamics of the amp along with a mid boost and slight treble roll off to make my amp sing! I run the gain on the amp about 3 for "clean" and use the Bloom boost with just a little bit of bump to get into fat crunch and then the comp plus eq for solos. All controlled via MIDI Transparent, doesn't jack with my tone. I borrowed a friend's Synergy Syn 1 with the DS module for a week with the intention of buying one.. no more.Charles
Overall: This optical compressor, EQ, and boost pedal is an all around work horse. The optical compression is really smooth and subtle, which I prefer! The presets are nice to dial in different types and they can be tweaked via MIDI if you're looking for that level of tweakability. I found myself setting it the country mode and really only tweaking the blend knob to control the overall sound of the comp. I like that I can keep as much dry signal as I want to retain some of the dynamic while really pushing the compressed frequencies. The boost is a standard clean boost that adds nice clarity and sparkle. Then you have a three band EQ that adds extra flexibility. All three effects can be turned on and off independently of each other and their is a "bloom" mode with the boost where it will swell in if you press and hold. That's a nice little trick but I don't think I'll use it too much since the boost is almost always on. I use this as a table setter for the rest of my rig now. Great choice for anyone looking for studio quality optical compression!Adam

The FC-300 MIDI foot controller is a rugged floorboard that gives you complete realtime control over all your MIDI devices. If you're familiar with Rolands older V-Bass or V-Guitar floor modules, or their GT series effects processors, you know the basic physical layout of this unit, and the quality and durability of its parts. There are no flimsy plastic components, and you'd have to work really hard to do any damage to its tough metal chassis. The two Expression Pedals have very smooth travel and output evenly throughout their full range. Theres just enough resistance to allow the pedal to stop securely at any point along its excursion, great if you want to capture a particular filter notch in a wah or synth, or the sweet spot in a volume sweep. In fully depressed position, there are on/off switches that are easy to access without putting all your weight on them, and yet they will not switch too easily so you don't have to worry about accidentally switching them on or off. The two Control Pedals can be set for latch or momentary operation. The Expression and Control Pedals are each assignable to virtually any two controllable parameters. There are two Mode Pedals, generally intended as Bank Up and Down controls, or to switch between Modes when depressed simultaneously. There are five Patch Pedals, each of which can select two patches within any bank. Depending on which of the four Modes is selected (standard, control, sys ex, or patch) each of the pedals can be assigned somewhat different if related functions. All pedals have associated lights to let you know exactly whats currently engaged. The two-line LCD allows for 16 characters per row, so you can have a pretty thorough designation for each selected patch. The variable intensity lighting in the LCD display insures that the characters are clear and easy to read in any lighting. If you need more control, the FC-300 has three additional jacks for connecting external Expression or Control Pedals, and a dedicated Mode jack for a pedal just to switch among Modes. There are even Amp Control jacks so you can switch between amp channels and their effects if your amp allows for that. Because this is a MIDI controller, of course there are MIDI in and out jacks too! The FC-300 has an onboard memory of 8 KB, and is capable of storing 100 separate Patches. If you have a very extensive MIDI set-up and somehow need more than 100 onboard Patches, that may be the only limitation you'll find with this controller. Full disclosure, this is more than Ive attempted with mine so far, but thats on the horizon. While a full-featured MIDI controller able to work with all MIDI devices, the FC-300 is optimized for both the VG-99 and the VB-99, and communicates with them so seamlessly that all programming is effortless and automatic. Ive only used mine with the VB-99, and I couldn't be happier with just how transparently easy it is to use, and how perfectly all the functions perform. No need to be fluent in MIDI if thats your main use for this. The FC-300 can be powered by an external power supply or internal batteries, but as an additional bonus when connected to the VB-99 through Rolands RRC2 cable (their proprietary CAT5 cable), it derives all its power from that. That eliminates the need for a separate power cord or MIDI cables to the VB-99 too, helping to minimize stage or studio clutter. The FC-300 isnt a sexy device, but its an extraordinarily functional one and will make your life a lot easier. Packed with features, as versatile as you could want, expandable with external pedals, and built solidly enough to withstand all the rigors of the road, Roland got this one exactly right.

I purchased this to go with a katakana head mk2, it does alow you to swith between the 4 presets and the panel and works flawlessly for this. Plugging in an expression pedal to this also seems to work fine for controlling the volume or controlling the effects. It is a shame that you can't use it to scroll between the different amp models when you have the panel selected and unless I am missing something I can't switch between banks A and B for the 4 user saved channels. I have no problems with the build quality, it seems sturdy and well manufactured. Having to put the two stickers on that came with the katakana wasn't too much of a hassle to get the pedals labeled correctly; but as of yet I don't know how well that will hold up after continue use. Exceeeds expectations with my Katana Artist (1st generation). The biggest drawback is that longer TRS cables are quite pricy, but that's a small price to pay for the convenience this footswitch offers. A few things I love about this footswitch: (1) "Effects" mode gives you stompbox simplicity. (2) In "Effects" mode, switching off delay lets the delays fade out naturally, unlike "Preset" mode. (3) Buttons are already assigned to the desired Katana Artist functions. Screenprinted labels match, so no stickers necessary (although they were included with my amp). One small issue: There's a noticeable lag when pressing the Panel button in "Preset" mode. I'm guessing it's more of an amp firmware issue. I will look into that.Tim

I would rate this product really high for all of its features but it I have two real complaints. The biggest drawback is the difficult programming. I am using this unit to control a lighting console that requires 'note on' midi signals. If you are using it for a guitar rig that uses 'program changes' it will probably work for you without so much hassle. I am a very tech savy guy and this thing came close to being sent back. It comes with NO instruction manual. You must download it off the internet. That being said, the manual was clear as mud. After several days of agony (I'd think I had it figured out, but it wouldn't work) I finally found the answer on a forum on the internet. Yes…you have to hit the Note button TWICE!! Once to illuminate, the second time to flash..then 'Enter'. Now it works for me. If only the manual had thoroughly explained this! Many people seem to give up and program it with thier computer (with a midi set up of course). The second complaint I have is the FCB1010's enormous size. This thing is massive. When playing guitar I am not a pedal user and I am not use to having anything on the floor except a tiny channel switch. Having to drag this thing around to run the lights doesn't thrill me…but until I can afford a lighting guy, this will have to do. One of the few footswitches that will do all three types of midi signals. Lots of features enabling it to handle simple to very complex rigs. Haven't had it long but it seems to be built pretty robust (as much as can be with todays products being made with so much plastic). The body is metal, the pedals are plastic. The unit is very large and heavy for a footswitch. There are only two pedals I can find that will send midi note signals. This unit costs half of what the other did so I guess it makes it an OK value. Getting through the programming is the hardest part.
I'm surprised there aren't more boards like this, but thankfully it does everything I need 🙂 The manual is a joke but there are plenty of great online guides, videos, and even third party software to help program it. You'll need to learn about the different types of MIDI signals, and you'll probably need to change the settings for if to be useful for your particular software. This can be daunting: but the great thing is that every foot switch can be programmed to send up to ten MIDI signals at once (including two CC settings for the two expression pedals). So even though there are two exp pedals: there's kinda 200! (10 switches and 10 banks). The switches all default to "program change" MIDI signals, which I found pretty unuseful, but they can all be changed to CC signals (eg 0/127 toggle or any value you like, on any CC# you like) or even "note" signals if you want to say control a synth bass line as you play!opium32

IT CONTROLS EVERY PATCH CHANGE I CREATED AND EVEN THE PARAMETERS IN THE PATCHES SO I CAN CHANGE THE TONES INSIDE OF EACH ONE. I HAVEN'T EVEN SCRATCHED THE SURFACE OF WHAT THIS UNIT IS CAPABLE OF YET. I got one open box so the price was very nice. Cheaper than any effects pedal I could buy. Works perfectly with the Line 6 viper. This one just has the four pedals so you can set up 4 channels for use with the tap of the foot. I don't think the instructions mention it but basically, just hit a pedal, dial in the sound you want on the amp, then hold the channel button for that pedal down on the amp for a few seconds and it programs it in. Move to the next pedal rinse repeat… The Wah is pretty good. More like a Morley than a Dunlop. Maybe too much high end on the wah but you quickly get a feel for it and just don't stomp down all the way like you might on other wahs.Sandfarmer
This is my first line 6 product and I have to say it’s very cool. I bought this to go with the line 6 spider 15 classic. I didn’t need a big amp and figured if I need to upgrade this pedal would work for other line 6 amps. There is a learning curve to this pedal and it will require additional internet research to use it to its full capabilities however out of the box it is worth the money. There are 4 pedals to control the affects of the amp (depending on which one you buy) as well as a way/volume pedal. If you are just starting out this is a great buy until you find a specific sound that you want (like a crybaby way). If you are playing on stage this is also a great buy because it only requires one cable (that reminds me of an Ethernet cable) that comes with it. The cable is very long and provides power as well so don’t freak out when you don’t see a power supply in the box it’s all good.Tim
Sound: Not applicable. Features: Although I own several Line 6 amps, I'm rating the product for its other application, which is to send MIDI to a computer over USB. There are very few alternatives in the way of bus-powered USB pedals that send MIDI to a virtual port. (I've been waiting for years for one, actually.) The good news is that this one works. It's also small and light (while still feeling solid and stable once it's placed) and very inexpensive. If you're running a PC in your live set up, this is just ideal. It can be easily programmed to send Program Change, CC, MIDI Machine Control, Mackie Control… pretty much anything on any channel, etc. The software to configure this is straightforward and works really well. Especially nice for guitarists who are accustomed to a switch at the toe-end of the expression pedal to toggle wah, etc. It's all there and works easily. The only downside is that the pedal isn't expandable at all. It would have been nice, since all the brains are in place, if Line 6 had added a couple of 1/4" jacks for additional switches and or an additional expression pedal, though of course this would have brought the price up a bit. And I'm not sure about reliabilty. As I said the pedal is light-weight, and it won't surprise me if I *eventually* stomp it to death, but at this price I'm sure I will have gotten my money's worth first. (I just hope this product is popular enough that I can find a replacement when the time comes!) Ease of Use: Plugged it in. Downloaded the software. The software was totally intuitive and everything worked perfectly. (This is *not* commonplace with MIDI controllers…) Quality: I really like the feel of the switches, the economy of scale, the choice of features, etc. It's a cool product IMO, and more or less unique. Other players might find the lightweight construction and materials to be a bit "flimsy". Value: $99 bucks for the MIDI controller *and* the MIDI interface, and if you use a Line 6 amp it doubles as your onstage tuner. Size makes it suitable for small gigs and small rigs. It's a good solution for very reasonable money. Manufacturer Support: Line 6 is a big company now, but they've been good to work with in my experience, and their website is pretty comprehensive, so high marks. I haven't had to contact them about this product, and that's a good thing. The Wow Factor: Well, it's sexy to me, but I'm a total geek. 🙂 It made my PC/Ableton/Guitar Rig set up nice and portable. I'm probably the only person on earth who equates that with "sex appeal" LOL. Overall: There is no other single product (that I'm aware of) that would replace this, and yes, it's a big help for me in realizing my musical goals. So, 10 overall.

Had this on want list for awhile. Bought it new when I saw a price break of 17% on MF. Software & plugins misadvertised by IK multimedia. They make it sound like you get all the iOS and OS X plugins and amplitube included with the pedal. Well some you do as freebie hook and bait and others you have to buy. They do give you Amplitube 4 Deluxe which is good, (4)-T-Racks processors, Mic Room, Ableton Live 9 Lite (Mac/PC), Amplitube Acoustic, VocalLive and Mic Room for iOS .I already previously bought Amplitube Max for OS X and most of the iPad amps & stomp effects apps for iOS. Previously using iRig HD as interface into iPad Pro 12.9 1st Gen. This pedal allows you to control amp and stomp effects for live performances and studio using stomp mode and LIVE settings and to scroll between user saved settings and favorites. I am constantly tweaking my user settings. I mount iPad on separate stand with an extension cable not included, so I can control some settings with my fingers. tips and tricks. I like how IK Multimedia approaches tone through modeling Amplifiers very quality sounding industry top of the line manufacturers. Tuner is good. I figured out by accident by placing finger and holding on volume knobs on amps using ASSIGN CONTROL to assign a selected parameter to pedal or external controller. You can save this to your settings and the parameters you select are highlighted in faint yellow color. I was wanting to see a volume pedal and this satisfied my desire. Having to have an iPad or Computer is not cheap to use with this pedal, but top of the line stuff here IMHO. IK Multimedia is an Italian company and product. I have been playing guitar for a long time. I was certified by the Recording Workshop in Ohio, for studio recording (though I am an amateur). I will admit, I already owned an iPhone 8s, and had already purchased a few of the amp models in the app to use with iRig HD, which I feel is important, because if this product is to be used with iOS, it comes with a very limited set of amps. On PC/Mac it has much wider utility out of the box. However, this product is great. The tones I have been getting are fantastic, I can emulate famous tones I hear on records, pretty much on the fly, the presets are not great, but the recording is, imo, high quality and sound really good. I have not used this on an iPhone 7, and have heard there are issues, but on PC and my iPhone 8s, it has worked great. Because I liked this so much, I splurged and bought a new iPad, and upgraded the software to the MAX version, and I really love, it. I have had the stomp for about a month and a half, and bought the iPad 12 days ago, I will be returning it and getting more storage, because I have already created so much new content from the ease of use, I am worried I'll fill up the smaller capacity at only 32gb. The only real negative I have experienced, has been: if I have the app running on my iOS device, and unplug and the stomp from my device, and then reconnect the stomp, it will not work. I have to stop the app, reconnect the stomp and restart the app. It's annoying but no big deal, as I don't have to unplug it very often in the middle of using it, but enough that I noticed the issue.Nel

The first thing I did was plug my phone into it, then ran a cable to my practice amp, and it sounds great! It was so easy to use since I already have AmpliTube for the iPhone, and I’m looking forward to checking out Ableton 10 lite and the AmpliTube custom shop (both came with it), but I also use some Positive Grid products, like Bias FX and JamUp. I was happily surprised to find out, with a small amount of “googling”, that this can be used with just about anything you’d want to use it with. You just have to slightly mess around with the midi assignments (look it up if you’re scared, it’s super easy) and you can use it as a controller for other amp/music programs and recording software. I think this thing is built like a tank, and since I used the payment plan through AMS, it was a really easy choice for the price.KillBill

Installation worked as advertised – not difficult and worked first time without further adjustments. Could use some high-quality instrument patches – had to buy them from Big Fish. Can do a fine quality impression of horn or string section for us keyboard non-experts, but need the sounds. I do not use the iPad app, just use it in DAW.Jamie
Im not crazy about it..It does track quickly. Secondly you dont have to bolt it in.. Thats the good, Im not to crazy about the sound libraries that come with it. Ive not found much that I can use. I can use it with my other midi packs…thats good. You do have to go into your DAW and clean up transients after recording.. I give it a C…Better than nothing! Fishman could do a little better, considering this thing costs over two hundred bucks..crairiver0
I bought this for recording because I don't play keys very well. I reached out to Fishman about a couple of questions to help set it up and they were really helpful. I wouldn't use this for live because it's very sensitive and the MIDI usually needs a little editing to do exactly what I wanted it to, but it really saves me a lot of work. I had great expectations of this and was very happy with the sounds (and excellent tracking) I initially got with the software. The latency was horrible though, and eventually I upgraded my computer (even changed to Mac platform as it did not work out at all on my Surface Pro). By the time I did this, the "legacy sounds" that were provided with the unit were phased out of support. Although I bought the unit early enough to still have the right to use them, they will no longer work and are completely unsupported. This makes the unit nearly worthless. The software they provide now is very poor, and to add to that it is very difficult to install and you have to jump through endless hoops to authorize it through third parties, having to load software package upon software package to authorize. There is no guarantee that those third parties will continue to support the software, either. The unit does not even come with basic GM sounds. The support from Fishman is hit or miss. Sometimes they will pick up the phone and sometimes they are inexplicably absent for weeks at a time. Email support is perhaps worse. I would recommend you avoid this product unless or until the company gets its act together and provides their own software (in addition to the basic FTP interface, which, BTW, does not support VSTs). Note: the FC-1 controller is not necessary. If you get a USB to MIDI adapter you will be all set, and you can control the patches with the switches on the unit or some other type of MIDI controller which really is the thing to do. Flipping through scores of sounds one by one by one is impractical. If you are already MIDI-literate and are willing to spend considerable additional sums on hardware and/or software to make this work, I'd say give it a try. But don't expect to jump into this from being an effects-literate guitar player without setting aside substantial time and money to make this in any way a practical part of your rig.Nicky T
Top drawer service .Product arrived on time via DPD. I'm still working on using it in conjunction with with a Roland SD50 live and also the computer . I haven't decided whether to just use with the FC1 pedal and the Roland unit yet. The software needs a fair time to get downloaded and installed even with a fast downloading fibre system. However the instructions are clear enough. One issue is the IK Media site not being clear enough on what happens to download up to date versions of Sampletank. It downloaded the Free version V Sampletank 3 . Apart from that it's a major add on for my live solo show.
This was easy to setup, and is well designed. It fit my guitar well, and wasn't hard to get working. The software on the other hand, was a huge hassle. The USB stick installer did NOT work, and I had to find all the software online, which was tricky. The website requires you to download all the software from the manufacturers website, which left me running around dozens of different websites, trying to find all the installers. I still don't know if I got them all, there was no way to tell what came with the dumb thing! Despite what they'd like you to believe, the midi packs included are very minor. It's just the typical assortment of synth sounds, like you'd get from any cheap keyboard or software synth. Mostly cartoonish and not useful. I thought it was going to come with a bunch of cool sounds. Nope. Once I got the software working, I gave it a try. While it was able to translate my playing to midi, relatively well, the tracking wasn't the best. If the pickup wasn't right near the strings, it would glitch out. Also, the velocity was way off, and varied widely. Furthermore, the fret position it detected was not accurate to what I was playing. Also, the pickup is curved slightly. My strings are flat, and not curved, so that didn't help. None of my guitars have curved strings, not sure why this is curved. This worked decently. I'd say it's worth a quarter of what they're selling it for. That's how much I'd say it's worth. The price is just too much for something that doesn't work well, and has poor quality software. You're better off buying a cheap tabletop keyboard controller that works than this half-functional toy.Alex C
