This is the amazing Boss DS-1 distortion pedal, loved by all who use it. Amazing value at just £55. I won't bore you with stories about how robust it is, because we all know Boss equipment lasts forever. It looks and feels great, but most importantly, sounds incredible. I play punk rock, and with my Gibson SG Special, plugged into my Marshall JCM 900 this delivers exactly the sound I want. I loved that in the manual it gives example sound setting, one of which was British Punk. That just made me smile. I knew instantly it was right up my street. Oh, and if you're into electronics, this thing is made of pin-through-hole components, so it leaves it open for a good bit of modding. There are plenty of guides for that online. Now I don't hate it, but Its not my first go to pedal. I like the more modern BOSS "Metal Core". It is however like all BOSS PEDALS built like a tank, extremely reliable and a great first pedal. For the money, this is a super value. I found that I like it for "Gain Stacking" in combination with the BOSS MD-2"Mega Distortion" and a few other pedals. Even two DS-1 DISTORTION together improve the performance to me. Overall it's not terrible and I see were for some it could really be a price but I lean towards Heavy… Heavy Metal and for that it's more a corvette when you need a Lamborghini. I have a 60w Fender Deville amp. Lovely clean sounds straight from the amp but couldn't really use the overdrive channel without the volume getting to an inconsiderate level at home. This pedal has addressed that issue really well. This pedal now provides me really raunchy distortion while providing a greater control for volume. The pedal also provides a nice boost in changing between a clean channel directly from the amp and then through the pedal. Very pleased with this investment, particularly for the price. This pedal is for users who are very capable at dialling in. Equally this pedal makes for a good starter pedal if you just want to experience overdrive and what that does to your sound. But for everyone else, I think the natural mid boost gives a little too much mud to be a popular pedal board decision over more modern pedals. The main difference in a Tube Screamer and the Boss SD-1 is the type of clipping. SD-1 utilizes asymmetrical clipping, and a Tube Screamer uses symmetrical clipping. They both have a mid-hump as for as the EQ curve. You can use them both as boosts into other pedals or amps. As straight up overdrives, the Tube Screamer often sounds like a layer of dirty and a layer of clean, where as with the SD-1, you get the single layer of dirty because of the circuit's clipping type. Either are great. Some prefer one over the other. I have both the TS and the Boss. Either work great with many configurations, and in some cases you might prefer one to the other with a particular setup. I have more than one tube amp, and I have a variety of pedals that I use on this one or that one.agentsalarm
After watching a few John5 interviews it dawned on me he doesn't use many pedals. But this is one he does use, so got me interested. I'm a metal guy at heart, so when I finally put the Metal Zone away and started building a grownup pedal board, a Tube Screamer was high on my list. I was particularly interested in this unit because of the size, since my beginner board probably isn't going to be very big. I plugged this little guy into my regular setup and was immediately blown away. If you've played some metal you know the setup: straight into a high gain amp, drive at 0, level at 10, and tone dialed in to taste. It made my Orange Micro Dark Terror, digital Bias FX rig, and even my sad old Marshall solid state roar, but in a much more defined way that never felt flabby or uncontrollable. I would recommend pairing it with a decent noise gate to trim down the hum, but that's just what electric guitars do when you crank the gain, and not a flaw of this pedal in particular. Okay, sure, it can do metal. I've also run this unit through a bunch of other setups and contexts. Through my Orange I definitely got very usable blues and classic rock tones by pulling the gain and volume back on the amp, and setting everything on the pedal around half way. I can even see potentially using it with the drive all the way up as a lead boost or to slightly break up a clean tone. This little thing is a beast for sure, and is pretty much perfect for my uses. It's not a transform your amp kind of effect, it's meant to compliment what your existing equipment already does. It has some specific things it does well, and it *really* nails them. #sweepstakesDan
Stop what you're doing right now. RIGHT NOW, and get this pedal. This tiny little monster sounds incredible and I am kicking myself for not trying any kind of Tube Screamer for my 20+ years of playing guitar. This literally sounds like a tube amp in a box. You can dial in the perfect amount of boost or drive without really impacting your guitar's true tone. If you push it all the way, it's almost in distortion territory, yet it retains warmth and picking dynamics…on the other hand it compresses nicely – like a tube amp. How does it do that? It's magic. I got this mini version because I'm building a mini pedal board, so it fits perfectly. Don't let the size fool you though, because it sounds incredible. The only drawback is that it needs an external power supply. Oh, and as an added bonus, this is made in Japan, and it shows. The switches, knobs, and inputs feel very high-quality. I collect Tube Screamers, and decided to get this for the collection. Soundwise, it works as a TS808; great transparent overdrive for stand-alone use but excels at boosting gain on an overdriven amp. Not as harsh or "dark" as a TS9, and a decent price. Definitely a TS to consider if you're trying to save some money; you definitely won't be missing out on the sound of the TS808. Also great if you want to add a Tube Screamer to a board, but need to save space. The only negative I can say is the Level and Tone knobs are difficult to see for settings, but that's true with most mini pedals. It doesn't take a battery, but there again, neither do most mini pedals. Construction is more solid than the Mooer Green Mile, and the TSMini is made in Japan (thought for sure it was Chinese). The price is great on these, but I'd also consider checking out the East River Overdrive by EHX; my current favorite Tube Screamer clone. As far as the Ibanez Tube Screamer line-up, this is seemingly the best value.Dave

I've been searching for the right reverb pedal for months now. I was using an audio interface and Ableton and a MIDI pedalboard to control reverb before and I wanted something more compact that wouldn't require me to pull out my laptop every time I want to play. After all this time I came to the determination that I needed a Strymon Big Sky, however the close to $500 price tag kept me looking at other pedals for the time being until I could save up for this. In steps this amazing pedal. I've been a fan of Electro-Harmonix for a while now, having their Canyon, Freeze, and Superego pedal, I have found them to be superb in every way. I had tried the slightly lower cost Holy Grail a while ago, and even though it sounded great, the lack of choice made it a little lackluster. I was pretty certain I should go with the Hall of Fame by TC Electronic, and was actually in the store to purchase that, when I saw the Oceans 11, and thought "I need to try that." The design of it was gorgeous. Strong metal build, with an amazing ocean-esqe image on it. I pull it out, plug it into the test rig they have set up, and immediately was blown away. The sound is as close to a Big Sky as I have seen from any other pedal. With 11 different styles of reverb, including a mix of delay and reverb in some cases, this pedal is just as versatile in my opinion. The reverse reverb is stellar, while the shimmer and poly effect give this big beautiful heavenly sound. On top of having your standard Hall/Plate/Spring settings. This thing really crosses from basic reverb to a shoegaze dream. This is THE BEST reverb pedal at this price point. Overall: As a disclaimer, I only use this pedal in Hall mode, slightly dialed in, as an 'always on' effect at the end of my fx chain..but.. it's freakin' awesome. Very natural sounding, doesn't have that digital harshness you get with most verb pedals. 75% of the modes are beautiful and have practical applications, while the rest are at least fun to mess around with. My needs haven't required me to explore all of the additional features of this pedal, like accessing hidden parameters or the octave selector, but I love the 'hold down' infinite sustain feature. The foot-switch is floating, as in it doesn't click on and off, and by pressing and holding it you can create some pretty spacey textures. Overall very impressive.

I use these with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. They allow me to control the aircraft precisely during taxiing. Takeoff and post-touchdown steering can be a little touchy. I took away one star because you have to secure the base from sliding on carpet. You will need to find a solution. I took away another star for not having a positive feedback when the pedals are centered, but the easy work around is to momentarily lift both feet and let the pedals center themselves. For my current setup, the pedals lift my knees causing them to brush against the bottom of my keyboard tray. I also have to really extend my toes when braking. I think these last two issues can be resolved myself though. I do like the ability to adjust pedal tension. I also like being able to adjust pedal length. I have not had a lot of time flying a real plane, so I don’t know if pedal sensitivity is a real issue. I’m happy with them though.Michael P
Bought this since MicroCenter had this in stock in their store, along with the matching yoke. The quality is quite good, being careful with yoke and pedals, should last several years. There are other yoke and pedal packages that may be higher quality, but also at higher cost. I consider myself at the upper end of casual usage, and did not feel the need to spend more. Go to the Logitech site for the documentation for the *physical* set up of the yoke and pedals. For MS Flight Sim 2020, do NOT install any drivers for the yoke and pedals. MS FS 2020 configures the yoke and pedals nearly perfectly. Just go into the MS FS 2020 config screen and fine tune to personal taste. For casual usage, this is a fine product that I do recommend.lpinnell
I've been playing MSFS a lot and was having issues with the rudder axis of my joystick. I figured that instead of getting a new joystick, pedals would solve the problem and add to the realism. The pedals come well packaged but include the standard worthless "documentation" that all of the Logitech Flight products include. I've never used flight pedals before and didn't really know how to use them. Even Logitech's online PDF manual doesn't tell you how they work. Fortunately, there's not a lot to know and I found the answers to my questions elsewhere online. My only other gripe is that the included (and undocumented) velcro strips don't really help keep the pedals in place on carpet. I still need to figure out how to keep them from moving around. On the plus side, with Windows 10, they are plug-and-play. You don't even need to download Logitech's drivers. Outside of the gripes mentioned above they have worked well so far.Kevin S

Overall: I have more overdrive pedals then I realistically need but my selection of distortion pedals has always been disappointing for my taste, just never the right tone regardless of the set up. I figured this pedal wasn’t too much and saw good reviews for the pedal historically. Yes there are differences from the originals to the model we have today but this distortion pedal is ridiculously versatile. The distortion pot is very broad and goes from a subtle O\D to a full faced fuzz and then when you sweep thru the filter, that’s where you see how versatile the Rat truly is. Is this a pedal geared towards the modern metal sound? Probably not. Is this pedal a good product for the price? Absolutely! The ease of use with the three control knobs just makes this pedal a great first buy or for those, like myself, who seemed to keep coming up short with distortion pedals, a truly simple and reliable tank of a stomp box. The Rat pedal is a classic and was my first pedal in 1986 when hi gain amps werent affordable to 15 year old kids. That pedal was mean ! It had the original lm308 chip and gave me the Kill Em All sound I craved. Fast forward to 2020 and the pedal has not changed much. Its mean and can give you fuzz to mean hi gain rhythm and violin line like sustain on leads. For $69.99 it is affordable and awesome. Cons : you cant power this pedal with a standard Boss power supply. Its either buy a Rat power supply/wall wart or run it on batteries. Also, the battery compartment is plastic and not as tank like as the rest of the pedal. The changing of chips does make the pedal lose some of its magic. The new chip is fine but I do miss the lm308 and maybe its hype Im falling for. It likely is. So what can you do ? I sent my pedal of to Utah to be rehoused. The pedal itself is hard to adhere to a pedalboard bc it is so heavy and awkward. So mine is being put in a more pedalboard friendly housing. Also, all the components like in and out jacks etc will be replaced/upgraded as well as some cheap components inside the pedal. You also get the lm308 chip. Hell yeah ! For $150 you get a massively improved pedal. Do you need to do this ? No of course not. But if you want the best Rat pedal youcan get ( which in the new housing also allows being powered by a Boss style power supply via wall wart or pedalboard) then the mod will be a fun way to modify an already smoking pedal.swampdonkey90
This is a great pedal and is very versatile. It can go from an overdriven tube amp tone at low gain settings to very thick heavy distortion/fuzz tone. I like to set the gain low to a nice overdriven tube amp tone and then have my boss SD-1 in front of it pushing the pedal harder. It gives it a nice 80s hair metal, Marshall JCM800 type tone. The tone of the pedal is great and it is very versatile and a good deal. It will stay on my pedal board. The other nice thing is is it's extremely easy to use with just 3 knobs and very easy to find a great tone. When I first got this pedal I didn't like how bright it was but that where the filter knob comes into play and you can roll off the brightness to match the guitar and amp you have and get a great tone. This allows you to play it on bright and dark amps a like. I use it with a Gibson Les Paul standard with burst bucket pro pickups into my 65 reissue fender Princeton reverb and I will also run it into my Boss katana MKii 50 watt. The True Tone One Spot combo power supply was the perfect choice for my small pedal board. I am a minimalist with about six pedals on my board (Wah pedal, TS tube screamer, delay, reverb, ditto, and tuner) and the One Spot supplies excellent power to all units. Importantly, it eliminates all buzz and electrical noise from entering the signal path for nearly silent operation. Things I really like: 1. The power cord is long… it allows my pedal board a broad range of placement. 2. It doesn't east up real estate on the pedal board. (I attached some Velcro to the outlet and when I am done using the board, I wind it up and connect it to the pedal board for storing). 3. Zero noise from power lines (and this is true with single coil pickups on my Fender). My Pedaltrain 2 board was becoming cumbersome and way too heavy. So a friend recommended a Pedaltrain Metro-in conjunction with the 1 Spot power supply, instead of a VooDoo Lab, etc. power supply. Excellent advice, because my pedalboard weighs much less, and is now easier to manage. Unfortunately, this set did not include a "reverse polarity" converter, and my Fulltone '69 Fuzz pedal is one such pedal that needs that to work in my daisy chain of pedals. Not sure why Truetone opted to include the "Line 6" converter and not a reverse polarity converter. Too bad. I replaced my previous 1 Spot that quit working. I had to check my old files to find out how long I had used it. It lasted 13 years! I love this Thrustmaster T248 kit. Designed to be a new offering that’s a step above entry level, the T248 features a new hybrid force feedback system, magnetic pedals, responsive paddle shifters, and a customizable LCD readout display. It’s not perfect, but it offers strong wheel force feedback with excellent pedal feel at a relatively reasonable price. Overall, it feels more like a high end arcade peripheral than a simulation rig, but I’m hoping a few tweaks can help fix that. The steering is half wrapped in “leather” which looks nice and I guess helps grip the palms, but the inner rim of the wheel has a cheap plastic feel and it’s noticeable under the fingertips. I think doing a leather steering wheel wrap will go a long way in making it feel more realistic, because the strength of the feedback is great. I especially like how stiff the pedals feel and the smooth response they give. Between Forza Horizon 5 and F1 2019 for PC, the wheel and pedals offered a great sense of control, feedback, and predictability. As a gaming peripheral, it’s a step below entry level simulation rigs, but it gets all the important things right. It’s even compatible with Thrustmaster’s metal 6 speed shifter, which should really amp up the experience. My computer desk has a 4” edge so I couldn’t use the supplied desk clamp, but I picked up a foldable half rig for about $100 that’s solid and mates to the T248 perfectly. A longer bolt for the desk clamp wouldn’t work in my case, but if you’re looking, you’ll want an M10 bolt with a 1.5 thread pitch. And as much fun as I have with the T248, it could certainly be better. The paddle shifters work great, but are distractingly loud. I’m going to see if a thin strip of vinyl tape or felt will soften the sound. The LCD display is a really cool concept, but so far I haven’t been able to get it working. It also doesn’t seem to work with games over EA Connect on PC for some reason. Trying to play Grid Legends, I can see the wheel displayed as a controller option, but it has an exclamation mark and won’t let me choose it. It says I need to calibrate the wheel, but won’t offer a way to do so. I also couldn’t get it to work with Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit over EA Connect. Either I need to change some settings or there needs to be a software update, but it works great with Forza Horizon 5 and F1 2019 over Xbox Game Pass for PC. And as long as it works with Forza and F1, that’s all I really need. Overall, if you’re looking for a fun wheel kit that’s a step above entry level and offers strong force feedback with excellent pedal feel, I highly recommend the Thrustmaster T248. I have tried a few OD pedals from Chinese clones , Boss , and Ibanez. This EC Glove is by far the best sounding one of the bunch, and less money than the Ibanez. I wish I would have just bought this one in the beginning. The Tube Screamer is a great pedal also, but cost twice as much. The Boss SD1 is a good pedal for the money, but gets "muddy" pretty easily. The Glove has nice overdrive without getting too muddy or over-bearing. I feel at the price it definitely punches above its class.russell_optics

Overall: So I literally bought this pedal on a white adding it to my cart when I bought a different EHX pedal. WOW was I surprised. Make no mistake, this is not an Overdrive, the is capable of full-on Hi Gain Distortion. But more than that it is CRAZY tight distortion. There must be some kind of intuitive gate incorporated in the pedal. What i want to ring out and sustain, will sustain. But if i even think about wanting silence it gives me total since in a millisecond. I have been looking forever to replace my $300 Mesa Throttle Box EQ. And I finally found the answer, it its only $80!! and EHX is my favorite company. So couldn't be happier. Product is great all around, effects sound really good, but the only problem I encounter is that you cannot use an instrument like a guitar or keyboard for the harmonizer which is a big problem, since that will help your vocals by adjusting the harmony to the instrument and not to a key. This nearly destroyed my gig at a swanky hotel lounge last night. Would not turn on. Put in fresh batteries. No go. Plugged in the OPTIONAL power supply. Wouldn't turn on. I HAD TO SING WITHOUT A MIC LAST NIGHT. Thank God it was a small venue or I'd have been sunk – but it sure made the gig difficult and didn't make me look good.Richard
Overall: I had a inexpensive Mic Mechanic system which did not sound bad . But I upgraded to the zoom V3 vocals and hopes with all of the additional effects I would be able to get the right sound with my voice. After receiving it and experimenting around with it I realized I got actually a better sound from The Mic Mechanic and was starting to get very disappointed . there are actually only about four of the effects that a singer can actually use in my opinion. The others are for Halloween hoax or comical relief sounds on the radio . I have really tried to like this system but cannot. I will be selling it and be on the lookout for a better sounding unit. I cannot complain about the quality of the unit as far as how it's made but again I did not buy it for its looks.Kevin

Sound: OK, so the pre-set programs are hit and miss for me. But that had to be expected, as I am not plugging a guitar into it, but rather a Korg RK100-S2 keytar. For obvious reasons, the cleaner patches, and patches designed around arpeggios sound decent, while the shredding metal patches sound like ass. I'm sure they would both sound good if I was hooked up with an actual 6 string. Features: The most useful feature as far as I'm concerned, are all of those knobs all over the front of the unit. They make it so easy to dial in the sound. Especially when compared to the all digital products like the GT-1. I had a GT-1B last year, and it was aggravating to modify sounds on the fly. The other most useful feature is the Tone Central app. OMG!!! Last month, I trashed Korg's design decision in their app for modifying the keytar's sounds. The window can't be resized, the lines of text are nearly microscopic, it isn't REMOTELY intuitive to figure out how to re-write the patches. Boss' Tone Central app is the EXACT OPPOSITE of all of that. Full screen, each effect section is on screen alone and has 3 different ways to modify the settings. Get things the way you want, name your patch, and click "write," then choose where you want it saved, and click "OK." It couldn't be simpler. Ease of Use: If the preset patches are hit and miss, the "manual mode" is why I bought this board. The keytar really needs some effects to come alive. This board is simply a placeholder until I can build a quality keytar/synth specific pedal board. Compression, delay, and/or phasers can add a lot of depth to my sound depending on what I'm currently using. Those dials make it super easy to get the sound right quickly. It does sort of suck that they are on the floor, but how could that have been avoided without bluetooth and a phone app? And, if that was the case, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place! Quality: I bought this "blemished." My guess, based on the condition of the box that the factory shipped to zZounds, is that this took a fall off of a shelf in the warehouse. One end of the box was mangled badly! Thanks to Boss' attention to detail in packaging, and legendary build quality, I got this product without a scuff, scratch, or dent for 20% off. I like that build quality. (Feel free to play football with some of those synth specific stomp boxes guys! *wink-wink*) Value: Before my fretting hand got too badly damaged to play bass anymore, I wanted the bass version of this product. I believe that it was discontinued, and I missed my chance. I got the GT-1B but didn't like working with it. When I saw that this was available, I didn't hesitate to put it into my cart. Only then, after the fact, did I realize that it was in "blemished" condition. I almost went back and put a new, full priced one in my cart simply because I didn't want the hassle of potentially returning a broken product. So, yes, I do believe this is worth the normal retail price. Manufacturer Support: In the 12 years I've been playing, I've owned several Boss products from tuners to metronomes to multi effects pedals and I have NEVER had to reach out for support. In my estimation, that's the BEST form of customer service! The Wow Factor: G.A.S.! I can't play guitar a lick. But I've bought guitars in the past simply to hang them on the wall. I can't say that I would ever buy THIS product if I didn't need it. But I'm sure that it will still find some place in my home studio, even after the actual pedal board is complete Overall: An easy recommendation for the guitarist on a budget. Depending on one's needs, stomp boxes and pedal boards can become quite pricey. Between this, the Tone Central app, and the hundreds of additional patches available there, if you can't get the sound you're looking for, the problem lies mostly with you.
I have been buying and selling multi effects for many years. I loved them all, even the silly ones such as the RP50, 505, ME30..too many. I guess my favorites were the Korg AX3000G(which I thought was ahead of its time) and the Digitech RP500(awesome reverbs, mods and filters),and even some Pods for their amp sims too. Yes yes.. they all had their short comings in different avenues.. Boss reliability is were a part of Ny early playing days since the 80s..and to this day, I use Boss single pedals almost exclusively as my main rig. I just love the simplicity of their individual pedals and this unit is the only one that comes close in terms of the logic of its settings. I love KNOBS, and the ME80 has plenty to go around with. SIMPLICITY is the key . No more scrolling up n down a screen on the floor which I can hardly see. Now is the ME80 the best sounding multi-effect out there? No sir! With all the current technologies which can produce units such as The Kemper, Fractals, Boss GT1000, and other high res IR capable units from Zoom and Line 6(including some very capable Chinese newcomers), the ME80 can be seen as kind of outdated to some, The ME80 is certainly not what the top guns use these days, especially when occupying an arena concert stages I'm sure(but I bet they still use one or two boss pedals in their rig lol)..Also, Let's not forget that the ME80 initial introduction day to the world was just about eight years ago.. shall we? But guess what, it's still alive and kicking! And that is exactly why you still see it here for sake in 2022 ar least until Boss comes out with some new monster that can handle the GT1000 chipsets and adding more KNOBS to its chassis. The ME80 is gorgeous, it sounds good, and it has a personality. It also has more to offer than its predecessors such as the ME50/70..I mean, the addition of a separate footswitch for reverb,EQ and a simple patch recall?? I would recommend this unit for any small club or a tight rehearsal space for a quick setup and a speedy wrap-up after a show, when it's finally time to go home, no patch cables required.I AM KEEPING THIS ONE FOR MYSELF! I don't want to program guitar effects. I don't want to read cheesy names for effects that I can't immediately recognize or understand. The young people like that stuff but I am old and old school. The ME-80 gives me my old stomp boxes but grouped on a modern platform. It is basically foot pedal controlled with a very nice expression pedal and 8 on-off pedals. The foot pedals work flawlessly. But the thing that makes this unit awesome is the knobs. You can turn a knob, set a value and get instant feedback on what you did and look at it anytime to see what it is set at. If you know stomp boxes then you know exactly how this thing works. It has by my estimation about $4K worth of stomp box effects and amp emulations. Whether you want an old Tube Screamer or a Big Muff Fuzz. This thing has it. And it has many new stomp box effects like the amazing Tera Echo, Harmonist, Freeze and a Looper. It has just about every effect you could want and you can play multiple effects at the same time. As far as I am concerned this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I am an original POD user. I still plug into the POD now and then. But the POD is history. The ME-80 is what I like today. I even commissioned a guy to build me an angled stand to boost up the knobs and pedal to make it easier for me to dial in changes. I had it painted orange to match my Orange Crush 35RT amp where I port the ME-80 output. Lastly, if you insist on being a programmer, they let you do that as well and offer a ton of presets online. You can hook up by USB to your computer and program away. Brilliant. The one down side… you have to buy an AC/DC adaptor for $30 or use up a lot of batteries. Absolutely loving this pedal. It takes a little while to get used to, especially if you're more used to a regular wah however the applications for this are great. It's easy to use and so much fun when used with other effects. You'll really have a great time with this. My only issue was with the fact that the one I bought, inside packaging had been opened and box was a little dented but for the price I couldn't complain. Overall: Here it is, the signature wah from the love him or hate him wah master himself, Kirk Hammett. For this review we'll just exclude Kirk, his playing style….or overuse of the wah itself and stick to the sound and use of this wah. After trying out the Dime wah, and a few others (still going to buy the Slash wah later) I decided on this one in particular for a few reasons. One it handles so well with a lot of gain going on, it does not get thin or cut out or sound like tin. This is great when it comes to that. Secondly, the graphics, while those aren't overall important I love the look of this pedal. Now, the downside is that is does not have that wide of a sweep, but the tone and great construction of the pedal make up for it. If you are in a Metallica cover band I say get it, I play a Gibson Les Paul, Fender Stratocaster through a Marshall Code 100 half stack (classic metal setting is near perfect) and can get those killer, sick wah sounds. I have been wanting to get this pedal for awhile and I am so glad I did. This pedal is amazing, not only the graphics and paint are second to none especially under the lights on stage, the basic design of this pedal is solid and you can customize your solos with this thing. The build of this pedal is sturdy and Dunlop did a year job with this. Kirk has these pedals spread throughout the stage when he is playing and I can see why, if your looking for a fabulous and amazing sounding wah pedal, you must get this!! This pedal sounds really nice. It's very bassy. But it's not muddy at all. It's got more gain than most overdrives but it's not really high gain. It's a hair less from being a high gain distortion pedal. I has driving mids and sounds very robust. The tone control is very useful. U can color the tone from a smooth overdrive to a cranked distortion pedal kind of cutting high gain for leads. I'd say it's pretty versatile compared to a super overdrive perhaps. This is the only overdrive pedal I have so don't have a point of comparison. I chose this over the Tube Screamer for my Telecaster based on YouTube sound comparisons, and certainly don't regret it. While I bought it to use with a Blues Junior, which is currently on backorder from MF, I've been using it on a Champion 40 modeling amp. Through the clean channel, you get a range of overdrive sounds, from crunch, though British into super distorted metal, particularly with the guitar volume cranked up. Switching from clean to modeling channels shows this pedal generates a smooth balanced overdrive sound that you just cannot reproduce with the amp's gain and voice options, which sound thin and tinny. The only minor negative is the power supply – expect to replace the 9v battery immediately, and understand that whenever an input cable is connected the unit is on. I noticed the power light had dimmed from leaving a cable plugged in for a day, even though everything else was off. Can't wait to hear this through a tube amp!Mike

I should start by telling you all that i play modern metal, not classic rock or anything close. I bought this pedal a few years back hoping to squash out the hiss in my amp due to my use of an overdrive in front of the amp.I used it in front of my amp with a ts9 in its little effects loop. it was very difficult to get the start-stop quick djent style stuff i wanted without a feedback remnant always cutting in. also, there was a noticable amount of cut on any palm-muted notes and really any note played would not sustain naturally. any setting on the decay would not help. but, i had to have the threshold up pretty high to knock out the hiss. you must also know that i am using a horrific amount of gain with a 6505+. I have the post gain maxed out and most other things maxed out as well.After much research and saving, i invested in the isp decimater g-string. this product was on a whole other level. the things that the ns-2 lacked this thing just has. It senses when you are playing, instead of opening a gate when you play loud enough. Even with my extreme gain settings, overdrive in front, booster in the effects loop, and volume all the way up on my guitar, i can start-stop all day long just like periphery and animals as leaders. plus, my palm muted notes fade naturally as do normally fretted notes. Another thing i have recently learned is that the ns-2 manufacturing process uses lead free solder, whereas the ns-1 has lead based solder. This resulted in a big difference in signal integrity, and is very evident if you leave the pedal on bypass and play something, then removeit from the chain, and play something. it darkens the tone alot. In conclusion, if you want play the new styles of metal with all the gain and start-stop, buy the isp decimater g-string or pro rack g.MTloveit
This is a must have if you have a multitude of effects esp. overdrives, distortions at high gains and volume. It's a huge compliment to any pedal board. If your tired of excessive hum, buzzing or just white noise especially when using multiple pedals on a pedal board this is the solution. I mated mine with a BOSS LS-2 Line Selector pedal at the start of my pedal chain so every pedal is covered by it. It allows instant quiet after quick aggressive picking starts and stops while using heavy distortion. It's a "Fire and Forget" pedal for the most part if your running the same gear regularly. The tubes are roaring with this pedal. I think it best suits for semi-hollow, vintage instruments with warm sound, cause combined with the Muff you will get a fat but enjoyable sound,. but with very a clean and bright instruments it will be more like harsh. The size is much more pleasant than the original Big Muff and its still massive. The tone on/off switch is a good feature, cause when you have your own EQ settings most of the time you dont want to mess it up with your pedals, but if you want, its still an option. Also, I recognized when its the tone off, you get more gain and headroom. The tone wicker give you more high-mids/presence. Useful when play muffed solos and you go higher in the fretboard.

To me it's like a vintage bigmuff switch. you flip it and holy dancing cows instant grit and velcro-like-texture fuzziness. you combo this with the right tube amp and Wallah! Siamese Dream tone. Cool thing is, costs much much less what you'd pay for a vintage (banged-unreliable-overpriced-oversized) V4-V5 bigmuff. Careful with the tonebypass, the thing is a 30db volume boost. good for saturated tubes I guess. in my opinion, it's as useless as it was 30 years ago in the V3 or V5 pedals. it does sement this version as a definitive throwback. both switches are there for a reason, EHX knew it, I know it and now you know it. (funny story: Musiciansfriend sensors the word MxUxFxF. cannot use it in the review or tags, yeah, it's a dirty woord to 'em. They did allow EHX to put it on the title though!)zaiten

It's a nice pedal as utility pedal for only needing the one effect. Enjoying the tremolo, reverb, flangers. You can set the effect to a preset (up to 24) and flip through them on the fly. Renaming the effect is a pain, having to use the dials! The distortion effects are weak but can be used with your dirty channel to be usable like using a fuzz otherwise it sounds thin and not usable. I'm not having any grounding issues and I have it powered through a pedal board brick. I have it running in front of an orange tube amps.BJ
About 100 pedals models for less than £100. Some in stereo and can be output in stereo or mono. Straight out of the box some models sound very good to me, I especially like the tremolos, some of the reverbs and delays. Also I quite like one of the chorus models (an effect that does not usually use) and one of the overdrives. Have to try tweaking the uni vibe and phasers but I'm sure there will be useable sounds in there My rating for sounds reflects my view that I find some bad and others excellent. It has plenty of features, is well made with a sturdy metal enclose, comes with its own power supply and is easy to use. All in all I think it is worth the price and worth considering if you want access a wide range of effects. Probably better for recording rather than using live.Reviewed by guitarguitar custome
This pedal is perfect for anyone who is running their complex delay/reverb/ambience stuff in an effects loop, but needs a 'swiss army knife' pedal for effects that need to go in front of the amp (distortion, wah, phaser, etc.). I was playing in the pit for our local HS musical last fall (they haven't had any electric guitarists…or bassists or drummers for that matter… in the student population for the last 7-8 years…I blame vocalist-centric reality TV shows….but I digress). The show was "Sister Act" and, unlike the R&B tinged '92 movie, the (2006) stage musical is all late 70's disco style. Needless to say, I needed a wah-wah pedal. Instead of shelling out the same amount for a decent 'one-trick-pony' wah pedal, I opted for this unit, as I have been looking for a multi-function 'in-front-of-the-amp' pedal for a while, and I already had an expression pedal for my keyboard. My expression pedal was the dirt cheap M-Audio plastic one that, according to Line6's own website, shouldn't work with this unit…except it did. Yes, even when toggling the "M-Audio/Other" switch on the underside of the pedal, at first It either didn't work at all, or worked backwards. But then, I discovered the genius programming built into this little gem. If you rock the EXP pedal either fullup or full down, you can manually set the heel/toe values for ANY of the 5 adjustable parameters in a given effect. SO…….In the tube/tape delay effect, for example, I have it set so the repeats, drive/gain, and "wow/flutter" all increase (each by individually set amounts) when I rock the EXP pedal from heel to toe. Add to that the fact that this is a dual stomp switch pedal with a dedicated tap-tempo switch, and you have an ultra-controlable delay unit. My only niggle is in the auto-wah/'tron' department. While they have a few dynamics-based filter effects models, only one is a dedicated Mu-Tron/envelope-filter type effect. What's more, since they only have the one model, and only 5 adjustable parameters, they decided to allot some of those 5 precious parameter knobs to things like "high-/low-/band-pass filter" and left out the crucial "sensitivity" setting. My rig is old-school; vintage non-master-volume amp + tube screamer + THD Hotplate. All my gain/distortion is controlled via my guitar's volume knob. The problem is, with no 'sensitivity' setting on the 'Tron' effect model, you only get decent results if your guitar volume is full up on or near 10. Unfortunately, most of the situations where you want to use this type of effect are with a relatively clean tone. But, since I can only get said cleaner tone by rolling back my guitar's volume, I don't have enough signal to trigger the wah effect. Instead of including some of the 'cool-but-of-limited-usefulness' models like "Comet Trails" in this section of the pedal, I wish Line6 would have had multiple 'Tron' models (high-/low-/band-pass) with sensitivity parameter adjustments all 'round. Full disclosure; what with my fore mentioned rig, I have not at all explored the distortion section of this pedal, and thus cannot comment on it's quality or lack thereof. I have at least dabbled in the modulation section, and done extensive exploration in the filter, delay, and Reverb sections, and found them all adequate to superior in tone and 'controlability' (OK, maybe not a real word…yet). Sturdy unit full of good quality effects. This is the first "cheap" unit that has impressed me with its pre amps. It even manages a passable vox sound that others at this price point fail to achieve. My favourite things about this unit are as follows : 1. The amount of usable presets out the box. Even the more whacky ones can generally be quickly tweaked into something usable. Other brands tend to fill their presets with ridiculous over the top high gain, and what I would call low budget sci-fi sound effects. Boss have done a good job with the GT1. 2. Ease of editing. While you can access the effects chain easily through the menu system, the buttons along the top physically represent a typical effects chain. Press and hold for a second on any one and you are straight into the effect behind it for easy editing or changing to a different effect. Negatives: lack of an on/off switch. It switches on by plugging in an instrument cable – minor annoyance but that's just me. Only other thing is no battery indicator, and I seriously doubt the 7hr battery life claim. The supplied ones died after about 2-3 hrs and the duracells I replaced them with haven't fared much better. I do have a power supply but wanted to see how the battery's would hold up if I had to do a gig on them. Probably wouldn't trust them and would carry two sets as backup rather than one.David B.
This is overall a great pedal. This will give you a wide variety of tones and effects that you can personalize for whatever music you play. Other pedals will offer maybe one tone and you may have to try different ones and might not be happy with them or have to buy multiple ones and spend lots of money to have a well set up pedal board. You can literally spend all day picking out distortion pedals and feel lost on where to go. With this you can go through a wide variety and set it up however you want and save the settings. This isn't some plug and play kinda pedal. You will need to spend time with it and get to know it. It is kinda confusing and there are YouTube videos that help as well. I got more e set up with a clean tone and then a click over to distortion and and anther click on and of for a wha effectErik
The sounds are decent for the price. I downloaded all three pdfs are they are basically useless when it comes to setting up patches, adding an external pedal and the overall operation. I gave up on trying to assign functions to the FS-6 I bought with it. There are no real explications how to use the 6 assignment functions. I think the headphone output is mono as I can only hear in one ear. You can get some decent patches off of tone exchange I'll probably sell it .Kenneth

I gave this 4 Stars only because of some difficulty I had in the programming part. In one of the training videos it talks about when your playing the sound drops off as if you’ve got a bad cable or something along those lines. They demonstrate how you need to double tap on the “Input” block on the top left hand side and it opens up a screen that shows what they call a “Global Gate”, and it’s set at about 40db in the video and on the one I had as well. There is a block right above that has a White line to show where it’s set. And when yiu strum a chord with it at this factory setting, it cuts out..Your told to add use the setting to about the middle of the block and this will stop it from cutting out. I did this on my unit however no matter where I put it I was still getting the cut out…it’s very frustrating. I was never able to correct this. Secondly the manual that comes with the unit is very much lacking what I would think are the very basics. I was never able to figure out how to assign the 4 buttons on the bottom. It was confusing, at least to me. I did contact HEADRUSH and was directed to their videos, but once again, the few they have are great at about everything else, but as far as what I was looking for, didn’t help. I am an old school guy from the 70’s and the Marshall, stomp box generation, and being older, yes I know, I so wan this to work, so I can grab this unit and the FRFR speaker cabinet, which is awesome by the way, my guitar and go.. I sent it back and I’m waiting on a replacement unit and I’m going to give it another try……Wish me luck, and yes, I would recommend this to anyone out there. ROCK ON PEOPLE, KEEP THE MUSIC ALIVE…!

After having this for a few weeks I have to say that I am fairly disappointed in it, but not enough to return it. The touchscreen is awesome and really is the single best feature this pedal has to offer, and the ease of use and variety of signal chain is great, and these are the reasons that I am keeping it. The amp modeling is okay, certainly miles better than my old GNX2 from the early 2000s, but still miles away from the real thing. For me the real let down was seeing just how limited the number of models is. The listed number of amp models in deceptive in my opinion because there is quite a bit of redundancy. How many different vintage Fender tones do they think we need? The effects also seemed incredibly limited in this price range as well. There are more rotary models than reverb and delay put together,… how does that make any sense? To be fair though the rotary models sound REALLY good compared even to many standalone rotary pedals. Some of the models are really bad too, like the Whammy pedal,… it is practically useless. The spring reverb is horrible as well. Like most multi-effects units it does clean fine, ultra heavy passable, and struggles horribly with anything in between. I hope they come out with some firmware updates that add some more models and effects to the unit soon, but I am not too optimistic. If your main concerns are ease of use, this IS the multi-effects pedal for you, hands down,…. but if sound quality and variety are of greater concern,… keep looking.Livinginthewoods

I bought the DM-2 Waza Craft about a week before purchasing an (expensive, but in excellent condition and complete with box original 1981DM-2, the now legendary MN3005 chip version.) I was blown away by the DM-2w during that first week and couldn't wait to compare it to an original. I have now spent a considerable amount of time comparing the two pedals, and can honestly say I wanted my original DM-2 to sound noticeably better. The truth is the DM-2w is fantastically close, in its standard mode the only difference I can detect is the rate knob speeds up delays quicker than the original. For example, at noon position, the originals delays are longer (slightly) than the wazacraft not a problem at all. Also the Waza seems to self oscillate easier than the original. This is where the only real sound difference was noticed. The original DM-2 delays at the point of self oscillation feel/sound better, only slightly, just more distorted or spacier – very hard to put your finger on, perhaps it's just the age and mojo of the pedal and the fact I wanted it to be better because of its mythical status! The summary is this however, the DM-2w is in my opinion, so close in sound, that it is almost identical, it also has the new custom mode with longer delay times which are also outstanding, a major upgrade to the original. Boss engineers must have spent ages getting this pedal together to sound like the original – I will not be selling mine, if I knew how good it stacked up against the original I probably wouldn't have bought one! 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – if you like delay then get this pedal, it's a future classic.Reviewed by Absolute Music custo
I have played a lot of delay pedals and my typical go-to is a Strymon Timeline. However, there are times when I just need a solid, good-sounding delay pedal that is also simple and easy to work with. This has become my main delay pedal in that regard. I have include it in the loop of my Helix when running that rig and it sounds better than any of the Helix delays. I can change the settings very easily depending on the song/venue and it always sounds great.Dan
I don't know what it is that separates the Boss DM-2w from all other analog delays I've heard or played, but it's definitely something. The repeats are dark and warm but not lost. They sit absolutely brilliantly in a mix without ever muddying up the clarity of any part. The oscillation is just as warm and massive. I have yet to use an expression pedal with it, but for my neighbor's sake, it's probabky a good thing. I will take this over any other boutique delay out there as my primary delay. I may eventually add another delay behind it for more ambient adventures, but as far as practical delays and musicality, this will never leave the board. (Sounds fantastic set on the verge of self-oscillation running into an RV-6 on "shimmer" mode w/ the tone at 9 o'clock)SB
