Got this Amplug Blues today plugged it into my Strat and it sounds great! and I highly recommend it! Now is it perfect? the answer is the usual NO. I think it can be improved on as follows. 1. Put a little color on the dials… the plastic is all black and the plug can rotate to different orientations. Would really be nice to have the dials stand out better with different colors. 2. Change the AA batteries to USB rechargeable Lipo battery. No reason to burn batteries when you can recharge! 3. My main change request is to have Bluetooth Audio In because you plug in the Amplug and then connect headphones (great for practicing). But to add audio to jam to you need to connect another cable to the Aux jack. So for me it just get's to be too much. Since nearly everyone has a smart phone it would be great to use Bluetooth for the Audio In so you can wirelessly play jam track and stuff without needing the 2nd cable. I regret, that I was mistaken in my previous review. I had claimed that the sound was great – but, that some functions were missing, after about a month of use. That is not true. I re-read the slightly, confusing, manual. The unit itself is – slightly, confusing* – but, it does work the way it is supposed to. In fact, you have a serious selection of effects – at least, three levels, of each one of, three effects – far more than other units in this category of headphone amplifier. The sound is incredible – the thing's got, big, b*alls! – and that, in itself, is worth five stars. Amazing job!

Firstly, the sound is heavily determined by your pickups and what headphones you use. I use this to practice in the mornings when it's too early to use my valve amplifier. I play mostly metal and shred. I have used this device with a range of guitars. The one I use most is equipped with an EMG85 and an EMG60. Active pickups through this device results in a significant amplification of unwanted string noise, when using the high gain setting. For me, this is positive – it teaches me to slow down and focus on proper technique. If you dial back the gain, this "issue" goes away. The built in effects also sound very good. The only thing I would change is the sensitivity of the volume knob. 3 is already loud enough, and 10 is deafening. If you accidentally knock the wheel, you're going to hurt your ears. Keep in mind, the positive Star ratings above are based on price: For the money it is a very good piece of equipment. Yes, it is made of a thin plastic, but as long as you aren't careless with it, that should not be an issue. The battery life could be better: I get around 14 hours out of it, maybe shorter. This is with no effects. I have replaced the provided batteries with Duracell now, so this may increase. If they had a more expensive version with more rugged materials, I would buy it without hesitation

After looking for this part on all the usual internet locations, I went to Sam Ash's website to see if I could find it locally. (Jacksonville, Fla). Not only did they have it in stock, their price was better than ANY of the prices I saw online. These Swiss-made Neutrik SpeakOns work great and are a much better/safer alternative to using bare wire or spades/banana plugs. with your speakers and amp(s) .I use these with all of my pro audio amps with zero worry about cables coming undone or shorting out and blowing fuses.The SpeakOns have a clever locking feature that assures a solid attachment to your amps back panel,so they can't just fall out like spades or bare wires when using the standard type binding posts. I really like the twist lock of Neutrik speakON connectors. I got the 4 pole so when I get another Crown xls1502 I can run each one bridged. I'd recommend you thread the cable clamp on last. Otherwise if make a mistake and need to open the connector you'll need the cut the cable/s as close to the back of the connector as possible. Then with a small flat-tip you can easily push the remaining back in then unscrew the clamp. You can do it without cutting the cable but it's difficult and you risk damaging clamping assembly. I also recommend you have a strong magnifying glass, an very good lighting so you can see the ( + )an ( – ) markings to make sure put the cable end in the correct holeRon

Cable looks really good, the pictures dont lie. I got exactly what I was expecting, a thick 3 foot black Ernie Ball speaker cable. Plugged it right in and it works great. And Im not sure if its just in my head but I think the sound coming out of my Marshall cab is better/ louder/ clearer after plugging it in. At first I was using the cable that came with my Marshall cab which is very thin and cheap so I opted for a Livewire balanced cable which was noticable better but this Ernie Ball speaker cable is much better, its a beefy cable, much thicker than the Livewire and for such an afforable price its amazing. I do have to mention though that there were some minor but noticeable scuffs on the cable itself and some of the lettering on "speaker" was rubbed off a little which kind of worried me, no damage though, its just I was expecting a brand spanking new cable and this one looks like it has minor wear. The cable works perfect and thats all that really matters. Im looking to purchase more products from Ernie Ball in the future because Im very impressed so far.Joe

I have just recently switched all my cables over to Speakon connectors and was having problems with my top cabs putting too much strain on the wire. This completely fixed that. The only thing that I have found so far that I dont like is the blue ring that attached to bottom of the 90 degree is in two piece and is a pain to try to put on.All in all, well worth the money and for me it only took 2 days to get here with standard shipping. It's a basic Speakon to Speakon cable, as idiot proof as they come. For my purposes, I would have liked a slightly shorter length, maybe 6 or 10 feet to minimize clutter behind my amp and reduce lost power/clarity over a longer span of wire. It has a 3.5 jack on short lead and is used with raspberry pi 4b ubuntu os and clementine for media player. Surprisingly good amplification, no hum or buzzing at max volume. Nice little kit! Instructions are pretty clear and it's certainly not overly complicated to build. Having some amp repair/building experience helps, but I'd say even a beginner could buy this, build it, and be playing it within a day or so. Once built it sounded pretty good as well. Fun to swap tubes around, substituting the 12AX for a 12AT, AY, or others. The 'effect' changes on the pull switches are pretty subtle, so don't expect anything dramatic there. But, the amp makes a great platform for learning, and even 'expanding' from the original design. I've put an EIA connector in the back of mine so I don't have a cord sticking out. I put some tall 'feet' on it so it would clear a speaker box handle. And, the power transformer is suitable for adding a 6CA4 rectifier, which I plan to do in the future. I'll have to move the filter capacitor section around some to make clearance for the socket, but it's a 6 volt 9-pin rectifier, so will work perfectly in this amp. I might even 'upgrade' the output transformer….or play with some yellow jacket type adapters to try a different output tube. In all, a lot of fun to build, sounds great for what it is, and I'm very glad I made the purchase!! A 'GREAT' value!!!Tom

Man tritt rein – – – und erst im letzten micro millimeter knackst es und dann schaltet "dat Dingen ' .." alles funktioniert – fhlt sich aber komisch an – kann aber Palmer wohl nix dafr – also behaupt ich mal – oder kann man sowas wollen? Der Sound ist gut – wenn man bedenkt was man damit vor hat. Einen Amp! einen Rhren Amp mit entsprechnder Box – Microphonie – usw …und das alles in der kleinen Kiste. Naja mit etwas geschraube werden die Sounds schn bis sehr gut – abstriche gibts natrlich bei der Verzerrung – ist aber auch klar – einen Vox AC30 ( 2×12")angezerrt kann man nicht simulieren – punkt oder einen JCM800(4×12") angezerrt – auch wenn man die Microfone in drei verschiedenen Stellungen simuliert. Es bleibt simuliert. Denkt mal an die Grundschule vierte Klasse – morgens vor der Deutscharbeit. Die simulierten Bauchschmerzen waren nie so erfolgreich bei Mutti wie die echten.
