I bought this thinking it would be really awesome to use as an interface to get some good pedal and amp modeling without all of the gear. I am not an Apple user, but I do have a Macbook I use for work purposes. I tried to find Amplitube to use and it is not able to download the app to Macbook. It has to be either iphone or ipad. I used it with the built in garageband app and there is a lot of feedback and static that comes through the speaker when using the pass through fx. I am a little sad about this as I had high hopes.Scott
I've known about the iRig series for over 10 years, and I wanted something that would simplify recording my guitar, keyboard, and electric violin, so I took a chance and purchased the IK Multimedia iRig 2 audio interface. I expected it to work fine with my iPad Mini (generation 1) and my iPhone 7 (using Apple's Lightning to 3.5mm adapter), though I also assumed that it would not work when I tried connecting it my Lenovo laptop's headset input. To my surprise, it actually did work with my laptop. I have yet to really tap into the iRig 2's fullest potential, and I still need to group all of my audio input apps into one folder on both iPhone and iPad, but so far, I'm very pleased with the IK Multimedia iRig 2.jayoders1986

The Line 6 sonic port is very well built as you'd expect from Line 6 and comes with a lightning connector and a connector for older versions of ipod/iphone/ipads. It's very simple to use, just plug it into your Apple device, plug a guitar in to the input and fire up the app. Output can be to headphones, speakers or any other device with an auxiliary input (including amplifiers, PA's etc). It can also be used in conjunction with any app that uses the core audio bus, so you can record to garageband, use ampkit, amplitube, the name but a few. I am really impressed with this device. So small. And so powerful. You can use it in so many different ways. I use it to stream from my Computer using Garageband directly into my iPhone for Facebook Lives with some fun reverb. It works just great. So fun. I purchased the iRig recently. It was fairly easy to setup, once I downloaded the iRig recorder app on my phone. I use it for DJ livestreaming, and the sound quality is OK. The setup works with RCA inputs. It doesn't sound as good with a microphone input if you are singing. But speaking is OK. For the price, you can do a decent livestream over Instagram or Zoom. Also be careful that your sound input is not too CPU intensive or else the recording will skip.ANNA

On-line support (email only) told me that it was probably the cable and that I should BUY a new one for 30.00 since it was out of warranty (1 year). The person that I corresponded with NEVER mentioned a firmware update, but, one was found at their site and downloading the 1.5 firmware upgrade (released today, 08/25/16, so obviously they know they have a problem) brought it back to life. Not a lot of sound options available other than for individual purchase inside the app (2.99 – 9.99 or so for each amp or stomp box model). Some latency can be heard as well. Probably an "ok" tool for silent practice, but not something that I would ever rely on for anything other than amusement.P90
I bought this mainly for home recording, and for private practice when traveling. The device works great as an audio interface with both Auria and GarageBand on my iPad. Once you register the product, there are a lot of free downloads available from PreSonus for effects and modeling. The previous review was possibly misleading to consumers as he was using the wrong Yamaha wireless adapter. Yamaha makes another adapter called the UD-BT01 which is the correct one for his application with the Novation controller. The MD-BT01 was not getting power from the midi connectors on the Novation, but was getting it from the Axiom rack unit. According to the Midi Solutions website, the Impluse does not supply power to it's midi ports. The Yamaha UD-BT01 however gets power from connecting a USB power supply, so it will work with the Implulse controllers. Also it plugs into the USB midi port of the controller. (Note: The lights on the MB-BT01 should flash when you turn on your keyboard, showing it's getting power.) Use the MD-BT01 with rack synths, modules, synthesizers and pianos keyboards to control from your Apple device. Great item!
Interesting little product. I have a Yamaha Disklavier Mark IV. I have wanted to stream MIDI files to my piano from my cell phone and iPads. It works exactly as suggested. I bought this thinking it would be really awesome to use as an interface to get some good pedal and amp modeling without all of the gear. I am not an Apple user, but I do have a Macbook I use for work purposes. I tried to find Amplitube to use and it is not able to download the app to Macbook. It has to be either iphone or ipad. I used it with the built in garageband app and there is a lot of feedback and static that comes through the speaker when using the pass through fx. I am a little sad about this as I had high hopes.Scott
I've known about the iRig series for over 10 years, and I wanted something that would simplify recording my guitar, keyboard, and electric violin, so I took a chance and purchased the IK Multimedia iRig 2 audio interface. I expected it to work fine with my iPad Mini (generation 1) and my iPhone 7 (using Apple's Lightning to 3.5mm adapter), though I also assumed that it would not work when I tried connecting it my Lenovo laptop's headset input. To my surprise, it actually did work with my laptop. I have yet to really tap into the iRig 2's fullest potential, and I still need to group all of my audio input apps into one folder on both iPhone and iPad, but so far, I'm very pleased with the IK Multimedia iRig 2.jayoders1986

I got one open box so the price was very nice. Cheaper than any effects pedal I could buy. Works perfectly with the Line 6 viper. This one just has the four pedals so you can set up 4 channels for use with the tap of the foot. I don't think the instructions mention it but basically, just hit a pedal, dial in the sound you want on the amp, then hold the channel button for that pedal down on the amp for a few seconds and it programs it in. Move to the next pedal rinse repeat… The Wah is pretty good. More like a Morley than a Dunlop. Maybe too much high end on the wah but you quickly get a feel for it and just don't stomp down all the way like you might on other wahs.Sandfarmer
This is my first line 6 product and I have to say it’s very cool. I bought this to go with the line 6 spider 15 classic. I didn’t need a big amp and figured if I need to upgrade this pedal would work for other line 6 amps. There is a learning curve to this pedal and it will require additional internet research to use it to its full capabilities however out of the box it is worth the money. There are 4 pedals to control the affects of the amp (depending on which one you buy) as well as a way/volume pedal. If you are just starting out this is a great buy until you find a specific sound that you want (like a crybaby way). If you are playing on stage this is also a great buy because it only requires one cable (that reminds me of an Ethernet cable) that comes with it. The cable is very long and provides power as well so don’t freak out when you don’t see a power supply in the box it’s all good.Tim
Sound: Not applicable. Features: Although I own several Line 6 amps, I'm rating the product for its other application, which is to send MIDI to a computer over USB. There are very few alternatives in the way of bus-powered USB pedals that send MIDI to a virtual port. (I've been waiting for years for one, actually.) The good news is that this one works. It's also small and light (while still feeling solid and stable once it's placed) and very inexpensive. If you're running a PC in your live set up, this is just ideal. It can be easily programmed to send Program Change, CC, MIDI Machine Control, Mackie Control… pretty much anything on any channel, etc. The software to configure this is straightforward and works really well. Especially nice for guitarists who are accustomed to a switch at the toe-end of the expression pedal to toggle wah, etc. It's all there and works easily. The only downside is that the pedal isn't expandable at all. It would have been nice, since all the brains are in place, if Line 6 had added a couple of 1/4" jacks for additional switches and or an additional expression pedal, though of course this would have brought the price up a bit. And I'm not sure about reliabilty. As I said the pedal is light-weight, and it won't surprise me if I *eventually* stomp it to death, but at this price I'm sure I will have gotten my money's worth first. (I just hope this product is popular enough that I can find a replacement when the time comes!) Ease of Use: Plugged it in. Downloaded the software. The software was totally intuitive and everything worked perfectly. (This is *not* commonplace with MIDI controllers…) Quality: I really like the feel of the switches, the economy of scale, the choice of features, etc. It's a cool product IMO, and more or less unique. Other players might find the lightweight construction and materials to be a bit "flimsy". Value: $99 bucks for the MIDI controller *and* the MIDI interface, and if you use a Line 6 amp it doubles as your onstage tuner. Size makes it suitable for small gigs and small rigs. It's a good solution for very reasonable money. Manufacturer Support: Line 6 is a big company now, but they've been good to work with in my experience, and their website is pretty comprehensive, so high marks. I haven't had to contact them about this product, and that's a good thing. The Wow Factor: Well, it's sexy to me, but I'm a total geek. 🙂 It made my PC/Ableton/Guitar Rig set up nice and portable. I'm probably the only person on earth who equates that with "sex appeal" LOL. Overall: There is no other single product (that I'm aware of) that would replace this, and yes, it's a big help for me in realizing my musical goals. So, 10 overall.

First of all I have to say that this thing works flawlessly for me. I love it and I'm slightly saddened by the fact that it doesn't have a perfect five star rating. There is ZERO (detectable) latency and the sound quality is as good and/or better than some interfaces that cost much more. But just to be clear, I do run it with an iPhone 13 Pro Max. I wouldn't really recommend running it with anything less. I also use Fl Studio Mobile as my DAW. This setup allows me to record guitar tracks anywhere. Something I've always been interested in. Think about that, recording great sounding guitar tracks anywhere. I can then easily transfer the tracks to Fl Studio on my home computer for further editing if needed. Anyway. The iRig HD 2 does exactly what I need it to do, every time. It's also made in Italy which is a nice little touch.Half
I used this to revive an acoustic/electric guitar that had lost its electronics due to capacitor failure. Could have tried installing new caps, but this rig was the less expensive and less effort solution. It also works, whereas the alternative had a lot of risk for failure, Putting a mic into the sound hole isn't a new idea, but having a product built especially for this purpose is, at least for me. I used mics designed for clipping to your collar before, which was clumsy and could damage the guitar finish. This product eliminates both problems. I also like that it takes standard AA batteries rather than the coin types and works with rechargeable NiMH. The sound from my amp is very true to the acoustic sound once I figured out what setting works the best. That took just a few minutes, since the preamp is easy to understand and adjust. However, the mic does pick up a lot of noise from touching the guitar, so I had to reduce the gain on my amp and have to be careful otherwise. That's just what happens when using mics rather than piezo bridge pickups. Those who slap their guitars for percussion will likely consider this a feature. I'm not very concerned about the wire from the mic to the preamp being too skinny. Like playing the guitar, I just have to be careful with it. It's easier to deal with than a stick-on transducer I've used with a cable that picked up every little knock on it. Plus you get a zippered clam storage box to protect the unit while in the gear bag, so whatever damage that might happen would be on stage while setting up/taking down and actually performing. Excellent piece of kit – for those like me living at close quarters with others, I'd even go so far as to say essential. Eight basic amp sounds (five for electric guitar, plus acoustic, bass and 'flat' response amps), each with three variants accessible via the accompanying amp, and a raft of effects. It's obviously portable and wireless-equipped – handy when I get chucked out of the living room – and serves as a pretty decent bluetooth speaker in its own right. My only quibble is that there are only five storable presets – even a simple punk rocker like myself could have used a few more when the amp has so many sounds to offer! That said, this is a proper game changer for anyone who needs quality tone at domestic volume.Joe
I'll preface this by saying I am just a beginning/novice but I enjoy playing. I didn't think much about an amp until I visited a friend who had this unit and had a blast with it all week making songs that I was already playing sound cooler, and also then stretching to learn some new songs while on vacation where you can think about what "sound" you want. It works well and the wireless part just makes it much easier. You can still use a cord if you like or in a pinch I suppose if you were not charged up on your transmitter, but I like being able to walk around at leisure and strum.

Easy to set up, rugged, and simple to dial in. USB works with practically any software. The only thing I wish it had would be S/PDIF i/O but I knew that when I made the purchase. It may sound a tiny bit dark but thats probably the fact that it isnt hyped to fool the user. YouTube videos reflect that Ive noticed. Ive been recording for 35 years….Remember manufactures have to release new versions of interfaces..theyll say new A/D converters, new specs etc…but they have to stay competitive or sales drop. About $10 too pricey but it does what it says it will do. Most of your tuning problems will be be over, especially if you do what I did on my SG… Tusq XL nut, Grover tuners and a Wilkinson roller bridge. That may seem a bit overboard but if you're frustrated enough by tuning issues, you'll try anything. In the end, it was worth it… Ridiculously playable and stable guitar. I already own a Quilter MicroPro2. I enjoyed recording with it, but was wanting an even easier solution. The Phantom Block is the answer. Just plug your guitar directly (or through your favorite pedals) into the input & output directly to your interface. I use a Tascam Model 12. Fantastic clean tone….the gain did not overdrive as much as I was expecting but not an issue for me.
