Out of a shootout of about 8 klones, i chose this. the only other one i considered was its brother, fhe archer ikon. jrad really knows klons, considering the founder took part in its creation iirc. really amazing drive and boost (used it as both for about 3 years). pairs well with pretty much everything, seriously. i ve tried bluesbreaker style ods, the boss bd-2, tubescreamers, treble boosts, the amp eleven, the timmy, and fuzz faces through this overdrive. they all work if you know how to use this pedal. selling pretty cheap as it is undeniably scratched up a little bit, but has never had a functional issue and is as sturdy and compact as they come. only selling because i have recently started using the fractal fm3 pretty exclusively and consequently cannot justify keeping a lot of my pedals. otherwise this would remain one of my staples as the longest-kept pedal on my board.

I was looking for a boost pedal to drive an old Gibson GA-25 with a Strat. The Archer sounds above and beyond. It has plenty of volume to drive the amp and setting the gain between 10 and 2 and rolling off the treble smooths out the crunch while still maintaining it character. Used it with a Plexi 100 and a Twin Reverb as well as a Rickenbacker, Tele, and Les Paul with the same result. The Archer sounds fantastic and each amp and guitar sounds like that amp or guitar. Worked the same on other pedals. Used it to drive an OCD and it the perfect bump without having to use an amp with complicated switching. No noise from the pedal while toggling on or off. Treble knob is super useful to smooth out or add clarity. It was really easy to dial it in and there's a pretty wide sweet spot. It's super responsive to picking and fingering. I kinda want to buy another to have an Archer drive an Archer. Would that be weird?Nickname
The pedal is small and therefore pedalboard-friendly but is still built like a tank. The knobs and switch feel totally quality stuff, the chassis is rock-solid and good looking. This pedal can be used, just like a Klon Centaur, as a clean boost up to a mild unique sounding overdrive. It gives you plenty of volume and headroom (you generally have to keep the volume knob close to zero if you want to match the bypass volume) and the Gain control is very accurate and allows you to shape your tone just as you desire. It is a great blues or rock pedal and gives its best if put on top of a tube amp that's almost breaking up but you can still use it, as a regular drive pedal, in front of a clean amp and it's guaranteed to sound better than most of the amplifiers' internal gain stages. Not a cheap pedal, in line with its main competitors, but definitely worth the price. If you want a Klon-like quality pedal that really gives you the Klon feeling without destroying your wallet, the Archer is a perfect choice.reptile_breath
I used heavy fuzzes for many years, I decided a few years ago to switch to something different. Been switching between the germanium ocd and the Xotic BB preamp last few years. The Archer does what I was looking for. Sounds great with my guitar volume slightly turned down. I've never used one of those real klons. But I now can understand why everyone likes em. This is the great Ibanez Tube Screamer at its most cost-saving incarnation. Do what you have to do, but I would recommend at least trying this thing out. It's a legend, and if you hate it, at least you will know. Better to at least have a frame of reference on the TS9 because things are going to get compared to it an awful lot.If you are looking for a Distortion/Booster, and you haven't developed a certain pickiness yet, this will be a great buy. The Distortion tone of the TS9 will make for a nice overdriven EL34 lead sound, when used on the clean channel. Also, if you do want to boost the dirty channel of a tube amp, this thing can do wonders. Slide the gain down to zero and max the volume. You will get a huge, loud tube overdrive. Why I like the TS9DX so much is that you can now dial in Four Levels of gain for this booster setting. You should be able to get some serious metal OD out of even the shyest tube amp. TS9+ being my favorite booster setting.If this thing has any drawbacks, it's that it's a little bit midrangey. Of course, that is the exact reason a lot of people prefer it. Also, I wouldn't call it flimsy by any means, but I can't quite give it a perfect score on quality. That's just based on comparison to EHX pedals, which are tanks. If you can't buy this pedal, try one out today. If you end up with a favorite overdrive elsewhere, at least you can compare it to a Tube Screamer, which most people are familiar with.srinivassa
I bought this one on a lark about 5 years ago, even though I already had all their others. This particular model can be a bit tricky to use. For one thing, each setting from Turbo to TS9, requires some tweaking of the other knobs when changing from one to the other, as volume levels change when switched. The payoff comes from the fact that there are truly about a dozen overdrive pedals in there — from an exact copy of the current-issue TS9 to something that is more akin to a booster pedal. I often use this pedal next to another Screamer, so the variety of overdrive sounds at my toe tips is enormous. I can not decide if I like the "Hot" or the "Plus" setting the best, these being the two middle choices of the four. Funny, but the one called "Plus" — marked "TS9+" — should actually be named "TS9 minus." I think of the "Turbo" setting as sort of a specialty rock, booster, or "old" rock setting. You have to play with this box a lot to really find your personal favorite sounds, but once you do, that's it. I should mention that the three other knobs function just like any other Screamer, so if you already know Screamers, you're half-way home already. Of the many, many overdrives I can use, the TS9DX has a couple of sounds that I simply can not copy with any other gadget, including my high-end pro modeling units. Weird, huh? Well there good and bad with this one. I like it overall, decent buy i guess, not exactly what i wanted or expected. The TS9 setting is exactly that, sounds just like the stock reissue ts9. The + setting has more low end response and a little less gain while clearer-ish tone and more volume. the Hot setting is crunchy, with about the same amount of gain and still a little more bass response and a little more volume than +. The last setting has the most bass response and even a little less gain, thus a little clearer-ish tone and again a little more volume than HOT setting.I use the Plus (+) setting for a few reasons. I already have a stock TS9 (soon to be modded to 808 specs) second, the other settings have toooo much bass for my amp (fender deville) even with the bright switch on and bass down, too much. The tone is a little clearer and there is more volume than my ts9 so i use it as rhythm and boost with my ts9. With compression (MXR dyna) sounds great, great great tone, great great sustain, very happy with comp. Overall, good little pedal. Unless you want more bass response than a TS9 i would suggest getting a TS9 and get either an Analogman Mod or Keeley Mod depending on what kind of sound you want. If you want smooth overdrive, more gain, more vol., less mid hump; go with Analogman (silver or brown, silver is better) if you want crunchy/lots of gain, more volume, less mids; go with Keeley (Baked has lots of gain) Hope this helps.Anonymous

The Morning Glory is a must-have pedal, this includes the Moonshine pedal in a compact enclosure that only requires 1 power connection (great for a small board). You can run either of these on its own, both together in either order, and you're got the additional gain stage (switch or red-remote enabled) – you can do so much with just those options, and the sweep of each control gives you so much to work with. It might be a little more expensive than the average pedal, but you get so much control and color to your sound. I know it is fun to buy and try all the OD pedals out there, but you really won't need another once you try this one. Highly Recommended.Todd
This is in my opinion hands down one of the best distortion pedals out there for worship. Grab the red remote like I did and you get three stages of distortion. I love the morning Glory for worship. This pedal is just a no brainier. It sounds excellent and is super easy to dial in great tone. Love it on my board. It will stay there!

This pedal is for users who are very capable at dialling in. Equally this pedal makes for a good starter pedal if you just want to experience overdrive and what that does to your sound. But for everyone else, I think the natural mid boost gives a little too much mud to be a popular pedal board decision over more modern pedals. The main difference in a Tube Screamer and the Boss SD-1 is the type of clipping. SD-1 utilizes asymmetrical clipping, and a Tube Screamer uses symmetrical clipping. They both have a mid-hump as for as the EQ curve. You can use them both as boosts into other pedals or amps. As straight up overdrives, the Tube Screamer often sounds like a layer of dirty and a layer of clean, where as with the SD-1, you get the single layer of dirty because of the circuit's clipping type. Either are great. Some prefer one over the other. I have both the TS and the Boss. Either work great with many configurations, and in some cases you might prefer one to the other with a particular setup. I have more than one tube amp, and I have a variety of pedals that I use on this one or that one.agentsalarm
After watching a few John5 interviews it dawned on me he doesn't use many pedals. But this is one he does use, so got me interested. Did some homework Dagan mentioned it on the pedal review and I thought yeah let's get it. Amazing pedal built like a tank, super tough. Currently I have just this an a NS-2. I only have a cheaper Blackstar Amp but this paired with passive-pickups sounds epic! I have this wired into the send and receive jacks on the NS-2 and it sounds the best.Bradley B.

Boss's most recent overdrive, obviously a 'next-generation' version of the bd-2 blues driver. compared to the bd-2, this has similar tones and similar clean-boost uses, but more gain available and none of the spitty decay that the bd-2 has. imo, this is a really refined-sounding, amp-like pedal, probably the finest overdrive or distortion boss has ever made. extremely understated and underrated. i own several of them. the modification here addresses the most common complaint about this circuit — that it has too much bass for some guitars/pickups (especially neck pickups). when the toggle switch is up, the pedal is stock. when the switch is down, lows are cut before distortion to tighten up the tone and clean up the mud with bassy guitars/pickups. it's a subtle difference but an extremely useful one in many situations.

The Boss OD-3 Overdrive sounds great through my '65 Fender Blackface Deluxe Reverb Re-Issue Ltd. Edition Wine Red with Wheat Grill Cloth. My amplifier has the Jensen P-12Q speaker as opposed to the Jensen C-12K speaker that comes in the stock '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb Re-Issues. My amplifier sounds awesome but does not have a gain or drive channel, so the Boss OD-3 Overdrive gives me a gain/drive channel. It sounds perfect with the reverb turned on to 4. I think this is the sound the Mad Professor #1 Guitar Pedal tries to emulate. Anyway, I experimented with an Ibanez Jet Driver, Pro Co RAT 2, Xotic BB Pre-Amp, Boss DS-1 Distortion, and Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive finally achieving a great tone with the Boss OD-3 Overdrive. I play Gibson Guitars with humbucking pickups (3 Les Pauls & 3 SG's)and can honestly say this pedal is the sound of "classic rock" to my ears. I have been playing guitar for over 34 years. I own a 1979 Marshall JMP 100 watt 2203 single channel head, a Marshall 4×12 slant cabinet, and a Marshall 4×12 straight cabinet which I don't really use that much anymore. The Boss OD-3 Overdrive through my '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb Re-Issue reminds me of the tone of my Marshall stack cranked up. Not the same, but similar enough that I am very happy with my tone.
This overdrive is capable of many things : searing crunch tones, clean boost etc…. Like any other more expansive ones. But it does more, it has its own "vintage" but clear voice, hot, sparkling and powerful! It is easy to use, a toy, very expressive! Don't be afraid to roll drive to max and tone to 1/4 to reach a deep chunk with huge overtones! Or use it more around noon for a "classy-glassy" dream overdrive!
Boss Blues Driver 2 leaves off where this pedal picks up. I love the Blues Driver and I leave the gain set on low and leave it on all the time it gives a sparkle to the sound. It sounds perfect up to half gain. The OD3 picks up where the Blues Driver leaves off. I feel that it is the next step to a higher gain. It does have a bit more mid which us very tube like. As you turn up the gain it maintains a very present output throughout its range. You don't need both pedals but if it's more overdrive range you need this is where you need to 'be. I like them in succession, first the Blues driver at low gain then the OD3 for more drive. A very lively overdrive. This makes a clean solid state amp come to life instantly. The tone is fat and robust. When cranked there is a sustain that is well rounded and full. When rolling down guitar volume knob it cleans up well and still has a great sparkle. Does not get muddy at lower volumes.

The Boss OD-3 Overdrive sounds great through my '65 Fender Blackface Deluxe Reverb Re-Issue Ltd. Edition Wine Red with Wheat Grill Cloth. My amplifier has the Jensen P-12Q speaker as opposed to the Jensen C-12K speaker that comes in the stock '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb Re-Issues. My amplifier sounds awesome but does not have a gain or drive channel, so the Boss OD-3 Overdrive gives me a gain/drive channel. It sounds perfect with the reverb turned on to 4. I think this is the sound the Mad Professor #1 Guitar Pedal tries to emulate. Anyway, I experimented with an Ibanez Jet Driver, Pro Co RAT 2, Xotic BB Pre-Amp, Boss DS-1 Distortion, and Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive finally achieving a great tone with the Boss OD-3 Overdrive. I play Gibson Guitars with humbucking pickups (3 Les Pauls & 3 SG's)and can honestly say this pedal is the sound of "classic rock" to my ears. I have been playing guitar for over 34 years. I own a 1979 Marshall JMP 100 watt 2203 single channel head, a Marshall 4×12 slant cabinet, and a Marshall 4×12 straight cabinet which I don't really use that much anymore. The Boss OD-3 Overdrive through my '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb Re-Issue reminds me of the tone of my Marshall stack cranked up. Not the same, but similar enough that I am very happy with my tone.
This overdrive is capable of many things : searing crunch tones, clean boost etc…. Like any other more expansive ones. But it does more, it has its own "vintage" but clear voice, hot, sparkling and powerful! It is easy to use, a toy, very expressive! Don't be afraid to roll drive to max and tone to 1/4 to reach a deep chunk with huge overtones! Or use it more around noon for a "classy-glassy" dream overdrive!
Boss Blues Driver 2 leaves off where this pedal picks up. I love the Blues Driver and I leave the gain set on low and leave it on all the time it gives a sparkle to the sound. It sounds perfect up to half gain. The OD3 picks up where the Blues Driver leaves off. I feel that it is the next step to a higher gain. It does have a bit more mid which us very tube like. As you turn up the gain it maintains a very present output throughout its range. You don't need both pedals but if it's more overdrive range you need this is where you need to 'be. I like them in succession, first the Blues driver at low gain then the OD3 for more drive. A very lively overdrive. This makes a clean solid state amp come to life instantly. The tone is fat and robust. When cranked there is a sustain that is well rounded and full. When rolling down guitar volume knob it cleans up well and still has a great sparkle. Does not get muddy at lower volumes.

This is a versatile drive and boost, that can play well with most any amp. The Broken Arrow can be most, or all, of the drive options on a pedalboard in one pedal. I particularly use it as an always-on core sound (at the 25% gain setting) and then increase gain or boost as necessary. (this is my very personal opinion/review) I am a big ts808 guy and i have always used ts808 and 808 was on my board all the time. But if you are a guitarist who stacks multiple overdrives and uses heavier sound and also warm overdriven tone going back and forth, you will notice that ts808 won't just cut it. don't get me wrong, ts808 is a great sounding pedal with tube amps and all, but it certainly lacks more dynamics (maybe that's the sound ppl love) and it doesnt really sound great when you stack it with different od pedals. Also, not to mention that if you are a guitarist in 2021, you might wanna upgrade your ts808 sound to little more modern tone. Broken arrow is perfect (At least for me) in terms of tone, versatility, price, and functions. i mean its not a cheap pedal but its got OD and boost in one. OD has 4 different clipping modes and so does the boost. so its like you have 4 ODs and 4 Boosts in one (plus, it looks killer in person!). Some reviews online might say the difference clipping modes between ODs and boosts are very tiny almost not recognizable, but trust me, if you stack ODs, it makes a huge different. 3 band EQ for all OD modes gives you extra versatility. This pedal looks great and sounds great and also very very VERY sturdy (always had issue with ts808 foot switch). I am so glad that i finally found this pedal. It is a problem solver.S. Lee

I was looking for a boost pedal to drive an old Gibson GA-25 with a Strat. The Archer sounds above and beyond. It has plenty of volume to drive the amp and setting the gain between 10 and 2 and rolling off the treble smooths out the crunch while still maintaining it character. Used it with a Plexi 100 and a Twin Reverb as well as a Rickenbacker, Tele, and Les Paul with the same result. The Archer sounds fantastic and each amp and guitar sounds like that amp or guitar. Worked the same on other pedals. Used it to drive an OCD and it the perfect bump without having to use an amp with complicated switching. No noise from the pedal while toggling on or off. Treble knob is super useful to smooth out or add clarity. It was really easy to dial it in and there's a pretty wide sweet spot. It's super responsive to picking and fingering. I kinda want to buy another to have an Archer drive an Archer. Would that be weird?Nickname
The pedal is small and therefore pedalboard-friendly but is still built like a tank. The knobs and switch feel totally quality stuff, the chassis is rock-solid and good looking. This pedal can be used, just like a Klon Centaur, as a clean boost up to a mild unique sounding overdrive. It gives you plenty of volume and headroom (you generally have to keep the volume knob close to zero if you want to match the bypass volume) and the Gain control is very accurate and allows you to shape your tone just as you desire. It is a great blues or rock pedal and gives its best if put on top of a tube amp that's almost breaking up but you can still use it, as a regular drive pedal, in front of a clean amp and it's guaranteed to sound better than most of the amplifiers' internal gain stages. Not a cheap pedal, in line with its main competitors, but definitely worth the price. If you want a Klon-like quality pedal that really gives you the Klon feeling without destroying your wallet, the Archer is a perfect choice.reptile_breath
I used heavy fuzzes for many years, I decided a few years ago to switch to something different. Been switching between the germanium ocd and the Xotic BB preamp last few years. The Archer does what I was looking for. Sounds great with my guitar volume slightly turned down. I've never used one of those real klons. But I now can understand why everyone likes em. I own a number of his pedals going right back to when he was modding other brands many years ago and never had a problem with a single one of them. I'm confident that Robert would be there to fix anything if I did have a problem. The Katana was the first Keeley branded design and sounds as good as it ever did. Super pedal …. has alot of character, and very flexible for complementing one's setup. If this circuit is indeed the closest yet to a true Klon, then I now see what all the hoopla has been about …. though I would never have even considered going after one of those ridiculously priced after-market Klon's. This is the most versatile overdrive I have ever had. Not only does the gain offer a wide – and always clear – range, the tone actually does something! Quite a lot, actually. The video on this v the silver model v an original Klon were very useful. I chose this one as it seemed a tad warmer, better suited to my mainly humbucker sound. This pedal is very versatile drive pedal. I could easily see 2 of these on my board. As a clean boost, it works very well and creates a very smooth creamy tone, but when the drive gets set above 10 oclock, you start to see some crunch added in. Around 12 and above, you hit some serious overdrive/distortion. This replaced a Tumnus Deluxe, which is also a great pedal, but it did pretty much what my tubescreamer did, but this pedal stands out! I've used this for Rhythm and Lead guitar with many different guitars and it works well with gain around 11am-1pm, level around 12, and treble around 12. I get lots of compliments on my tone and I'm glad I purchased this.Eric j

Dr. Robert pedal from Aclam guitars Let me start by saying I am not a gear head or pedal junkie. But ever since I heard this pedal a couple of years ago I wanted one… and I love it. Vox amp lovers know the company missed the boat when it came to giving them the sound from their mid sixties groundbreaking hybrid UL700 series of amps. They were originally made for an exclusive clientele including the Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and only 20 or 30 are know be in existence today in the hands of collectors willing to pay exorbitant prices. Luckily the folks at Aclam guitars in Barcelona, Spain managed to buy a UL730 and reverse engineer the main channel to create their Dr. Robert pedal. If you love the unique guitar sounds from the Beatles Sgt. Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour and even the White Album period as well as The Rolling Stones Between The Buttons, Satanic Majesties and other 66-68 recordings and Jimmy Page’s sound on the first two Led Zepplin records… this is for you. It isn’t a one trick pony or a gimmick by any means though. It is very responsive to individual playing and can be tweaked endlessly to create new sounds. I’ve used it in a few recordings to get a chunky rhythm guitar sound as well as lead tones that easily cut through a mix. By watching some YouTube video demonstrations and using the excellent User Guide, you can dial in sounds that you won’t find with other devices. I suggest having a listen to the guitars on the albums I noted and you’ll see why this pedal isn’t like anything you may have. It will be well worth getting and it’ll be hard to stop playing through it.
It seems like a lot of money for a distortion pedal but it offers something different and it's very well made. You have to remove the back to access the battery compartment, which is time-consuming, but you get to see the very neatly assembled circuitry. The sound is crunchy and refreshingly retro, a bit like a TS9 with the tone control on max, but with even more attack. This pedal isn't "polite" – it's raw and aggressive and rock and roll and I like it!
I play through a DV Mark 'Liittle Jazz' amp which is solid state. This pedal sounds horrific through it. I would describe the sound as akin to listening to music through blown headphone speakers. I've listened to many demos of this pedal and it always sound good. Manufacturer recommends playing through a 'British' amp. I think (hope) the problem is my gear so I will invest in a valve amp at some point as I love "that' sound. Difficult for me to give a fair review but I'm sharing my experience that this pedal will not sound good through an ultra clean solid state amp. Been playing guitar for over 40 years, and this pedal is hands-down the smoothest sounding dirt/overdrive pedal I've ever heard. I use it in front of a Friedman Runt 50 driving a Marshall 1960A 4×12 cab with 4 Celestion Vintage 30's. I play a 2017 PRS CE with 85/15 pickups. This pedal sounds like the Runt does — it boosts and adds gainful dirt of its own that is as smooth and authentic as the Runt itself. It does this in both the clean channel and the dirty channel of the Runt. It's smoother than my TS9, and makes my Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe V2 and Friedman BE-OD pedals sound like harsh toys. And that's saying something — those are fine pedals (and agreed, are of a different breed). I bought a second one of these pedals to have one for edgy dirt in the clean channel, and one for overdriven lead sound in the dirt channel. Love this pedal and would buy again (I already did).desrod
I bought this because I was looking for an equalizer pedal and MF was selling it as part of their deal of the day. I wasn't exactly looking for another overdrive pedal, but it checked all the boxes for me: High quality build, compact design, good tone. I've never had a pedal before that I always left on, but now this is that pedal for me. I'm using it as a slightly overdriven boost and it provides enough control to get a fatter sound at lower volumes. It gives my tube screamer a little more oomph that it's missing. I love the switch – it's not a loud click, but not a silent, cheap feeling click either. I also love that the eq sliders glow when it's on. With all that said, I'm torn on whether I would recommend this at the current retail price. I would guess there are some better options at this price point, and the resale value on Reverb does not seem to hold compared to other pedal makers. I don't plan on selling it, but it's something to be aware of. I'm not usually a boutique pedal guy either though, so take that with a grain of salt.Pete B

Initial plug and play left me with the impression that this pedal adds a lot of volume to your guitar without coloring over the tone. The EQ is very responsive to inputs and really help me dial in the tones I have in my head. Of the Drive Clipping options like the Blue (Timmy/King of Tone) and Amber (Marshall) options best. The Green (tube screamer) and Yellow (treble boost) are to harsh for my liking however paired with the Drive, I like the Boost on Yellow, which has the least body, as it doesn't get in the way of the Drive's EQ. What I like most was being able to alter the Internal Presence Trim Pot, I left the internal tone trim pot alone. From the factory the Presence and Tone are at 12 o'clock buy the Pedal is a little harsh and rolling off the Presence sweetened the Tone and now, it's perfect. I don't MIDI, yet, so only having CC rather than PC does not really affect me. If you want a great Over Drive Pedal with Boost, this Pedal is a must try. Also, the Gain Cycling is very intuitive and I set the gain do I'm on the 3rd cycle, that way I can gain up once and have 2 lower gain options. It cleans up well.David

Sound quality and price are pretty good for the money, but it's not that well thought out logistically. No psu supplied and doesn't work on battery or a powerbank (not mine at least). The jewel is blindingly bright and means it's impossible to read the other controls which are pale writing on gold, so not distinct anyway. The boost operates incrementally so if you only have a bit of break up on the first channel you can't go to a full overdrive on the second channel. I prefer the system on the Blackstar HT Dual where the two channels are completely independent. It may do what you want, and it has it's uses if you already have a good hi gain channel 2 on your amp, but it's also got its limitations. Slightly disappointing.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

This pedal is for users who are very capable at dialling in. Equally this pedal makes for a good starter pedal if you just want to experience overdrive and what that does to your sound. But for everyone else, I think the natural mid boost gives a little too much mud to be a popular pedal board decision over more modern pedals. Like many of you, I can get some good stuff out of this pedal, but unlike some other pedals – I have to put in elbow grease to get there.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
The main difference in a Tube Screamer and the Boss SD-1 is the type of clipping. SD-1 utilizes asymmetrical clipping, and a Tube Screamer uses symmetrical clipping. They both have a mid-hump as for as the EQ curve. You can use them both as boosts into other pedals or amps. As straight up overdrives, the Tube Screamer often sounds like a layer of dirty and a layer of clean, where as with the SD-1, you get the single layer of dirty because of the circuit's clipping type. Either are great. Some prefer one over the other. I have both the TS and the Boss. Either work great with many configurations, and in some cases you might prefer one to the other with a particular setup. I have more than one tube amp, and I have a variety of pedals that I use on this one or that one.agentsalarm
After watching a few John5 interviews it dawned on me he doesn't use many pedals. But this is one he does use, so got me interested. Did some homework Dagan mentioned it on the pedal review and I thought yeah let's get it. Amazing pedal built like a tank, super tough. Currently I have just this an a NS-2. I only have a cheaper Blackstar Amp but this paired with passive-pickups sounds epic! I have this wired into the send and receive jacks on the NS-2 and it sounds the best.Bradley B.

I play at home. I have tried many pedals, ODs and distortions, etc. I have a few nicer guitars with great humbuckers. I have a Peavey 6505 tube amp and a Carvin for clean stuff. From my experience, with my stuff, the Nobels is very nice. It can be used for lots of styles and I really like the looks of it. Looks kinda retro. I got rid of a lot of pedals but this one stayed. Highly recommended.Sam
I was looking for a natural sounding OD that doesnt colour the signal too much. The ODR-1BC does the job perfectly. Exactly what I was looking for . The drive adds anything between almost zero gain to quite significant saturation. As the drive is turned up, there is a boost in some high frequencies and these can be tamed by turning down the "Spectrum" facility. You can match your amp and get great warm and creamy OD sounds in no time.Trefor R.
I have tried several different overdrive pedals including a few that were considerably more expensive than this one. The Nobels OD-1 is the best sounding one yet. The bass switch is also a plus, so make sure the one you buy has it. The three control knobs are the same as others, but seem to be more effective allowing me to get exactly the sound I am looking for. The Nobels OD-1 has been around for a long time, and a favorite for many musicians and now I know why. It's a great pedal at a fair price and is my new #1.stellarview
