I have heard no after market pickup that more faithfully reproduces the tone of an acoustic guitar. Easy install, comes with jig and extra adhesive strips in case you (or your friend), oh I don't know, drop your guitar on the concrete floor of a Masaai church in Kenya and have to send your guitar back to the states for repair, but want to put the pickup into a cheap yahama for the time being. Baggs even sent me and extra jig and adhesives, in Kenya, to install it. And it makes the Yamaha sound very good, even though it doesn't even really sound that good acoustically! An amazing pickup that I will use as long as they are still in production! Easy to use, easy to install, virtually indestructible, lightweight and invisible. Outstanding quality and design. After considerable research I had a Baggs iBeam active installed in my Martin D28 – I'd found the D28 recorded well with a mic, but tended to be boomy when mic'd for live sound reinforcement. An experienced Martin guitar tech installed it for me. I've tried it straight into a mixing board and through a Genz-Benz Shen Pro-LT. It sounds oh so very natural, and gets all the gain I need. It really shines for finger-style. It may not be a good choice in loud environments, as it would probably feedback, but in such situations tonal subtlety is usually less important. It was also important that it was both visually unobtrusive and physically non-invasive. That way it can be replaced – the D28 is likely to outlive the useful life of any pickup system. I am picky about sound quality and am quite happy…price was reasonable too.Return2Normal
Sound: Installed it in a Composite Acoustics Legacy/Dreadnought guitar. The sound is very natural. A lot easier to install. Like one other person said here it is real boomy at your regular settings. I had to back the bass off on my amp. It is real microphone sounding as thats probably what it is. Thus it is feedback prone if you are sitting in front of your speakers. It did well in a solo performance. Not sure how well it will do in a setting where volume is needed. But I would just use a different guitar. I do like it a lot. Features: Has a volume wheel you stick inside the sound hole out of sight. Ease of Use: With the installation jig that comes with it you can position the pickup exactly under the saddle perfectly. I really did not want to get into drilling holes under the saddle for the pickup wires, soldering wires, and sanding down the saddle. Installation is a snap. The Wow Factor: A pretty girl came up and said my guitar sounded real nice.

Hands down! The best sound for an acoustic. I was looking for something that I could hear each string with the same balance. And this pickup was perfect! This pickup works great. It's easy to install yourself if you're brave. It took me about an hour. I recommend several pieces of tape over the end pin hole before you drill the guitar, this helps prevent chipping the finish, I also recommend access to a good belt sander to get the bridge sanded down just right to compensate for the pickup underneath it. This enhances the Graphtech Ghost bridge I installed. Installation was relatively simple since all the wiring is modular and plugs into the pre amp. Minimal soldering was required for the jack and switches. There are a lot of wires so the electronic cavity in my guitar is full but I did not have to enlarge it or modify the cavity.Martin
Absolutely the best acoustic guitar sound from any electric guitar hands down. I've tried and owned aftermarket piezo systems and OEM piezo equipped guitars, the ghost just has that nature sound. It reacts like a "plugged in" acoustic guitar. Soft passages are smooth and even, all the strings have equal output, something the other systems did not have. Step into it and the Ghost just gets dynamic, no piezo "quack" or unnatural thin, sharp distorted tones. Add the fact that string breakage becomes a thing of the past, will pay for its self inside a couple of months. Guitars used: A Martin with minimal electronics, the tone does nothing. Another with LR Baggs more of everything. I have an EQ pedal an Compressor on my acoustic board to begin with. I was interested to see if this pedal basically did the same thing. After switching on and off comparisons I ended up keeping the Rez and taking off my EQ pedal. I could not duplicate what the Rez does with my EQ and Comp pedals. I did back my compressor way down to very light. I could have done without it but I like it. The Rez does kill feedback nicely even when I was sitting directly in front of my amp doing the tests. I got feedback with the pedals when pushing the bass and mids trying to match it but none with the Rez. After running through a bunch of my songs I really liked the new sound and picking dynamics. If you are not a pedal person this is the only pedal you will need at gigs and open mics. It does come with a 9v power supply. Nothing for instructions. It has one dial you turn it till you like it.AZ PICKER
I play a Taylor, and even the Expression System can use some help when you are in a live situation, playing through a PA. Many of the other "preamp" type options out there are great, but cost 200 – 300. This box warms up the sound, adds some compression, and just sounds fantastic! Dead simple to use, as it has one adjustment knob. Footswitch turns the unit off/on, but with a hold can mute the signal for guitar changes. Also has the ability to switch the phase in order to get rid of low-end feedback in some situations. Bottom line, the Body Rez is just another example of the innovative folks at TC Electronics. This undersaddle pickup utilizes a flexible, metal wrapped cable, rather than the hard piezo style pickup. LR Baggs claims this will not only capture the saddle/bridge tones, but will also include and amplify internal resonance due to the microphonic ability of the cable. After installing one for steel strings, and one for nylon strings, I can assure you this is completely correct! Both versions have resulted in phenominal, warm, rich, focused tones – but sharper than LR Baggs I Beam pickup. If you can install a piezo, you can install this. I bought this LR Baggs Element pickup because I wanted one that's specifically voiced for nylon string guitars. There are two versions of the LR Baggs Element, so this review only pertains to the nylon string version. I'm an experienced wood craftsman who's built furniture for my home use, so the installation went quite quickly and without significant complications. There are a variety of YouTube videos available which anyone can watch to assess their own capabilities before deciding to tackle the installation themselves. It should be noted that the LR Baggs warranty does NOT cover do-it-yourself installations, so give that appropriate consideration. Personally, I had no desire to double the cost of the pickup by taking it to a luthier to do the relatively minor work involved. In my case, I find that the use of an external DI box more than makes up for the fact that the LR Baggs Element has no built-in EQ controls — just a simple volume wheel to control output. Once installed in my Orpheus Valley Fiesta classical guitar, the results were outstanding. I play through a Fishman Aura Spectrum DI box and a number of the Fishman microphone images produce fantastically, rich, detailed sound. One of my nylon classical guitars has a Fishman Presys Blend pickup system installed and the LR Baggs Element sounds every bit as good at half the price. I highly recommend it to all who desire reasonably priced, straight-forward nylon string amplification without a lot of bells ad whistles.Dragon Dave

I liked the fun of doing the installation myself. Liked the ability to place the controls where I decided on the guitar. I liked that the components were small and easy to fit into the space available inside the guitar. KIt came with an installation instruction that guided me through the installation just fine. No operators manual was provided. I downloaded from Roland the GK-3 (non-kit version) operators manual which should be applicable except for physical appearance. Regular GK-3 comes with a 1 mm gage to help set gap between each pickup and its corresponding string. The Kit did not provide this gage – a minor point. Pickups adjust to match a range of curvatures on the guitar bridge. A 14" radius was the largest. I had a couple of questions as I worked through the installation, and Roland Support provided answers on the phone. So far, so good. Everything seems to work ok. I have played this through a Roland GR-33 synth board for a total of about 1 hour (just finished the installation). What fun! For my project (installed into a Steinberger Synapse Transcale baritone guitar) this was the best value for my money. My Steinberger has a one-piece aluminum bridge, string height is not adjustable except as a group. For different guitars, with different bridge arrangements, you might find other brands of kits might work better for you. The readily available support from Roland was a bonus I had not expected – a big plus.
The external GK pickup looks like a Borg implant, it doesn't exactly complement the appearance of most guitars. This kit puts all of the electronics inside your axe, with just 3 switches on your pick guard. Professional installation is highly recommended. It's an excellent product, but I gave it 4 stars because it should come in white as well as black.
I bought this kit a little while back after trying unsuccessfully to mount an old external GK2 internally (don't ask). The kit was very easy to install, very little space needed internally and the set up was a breeze. I feel it is a little pricey but as kits go it is well put together and well documents. I've had it install for a year or so now. It works flawlessly. If you are tired of the external GK mounted on you guitar this is the way to go!JDX

Works very well live with a little setup EQ and switching to nickel wound strings: EJ 21 Jazz Light (12-52 with a wound 24 gauge G) for 6 string and for 12 string I use EXL150 10-46 with a substitiute wound low G and octave A @ 17 or 18 (D'Addario makes'em!) to get a nearly perfect string dB balance, with a little pitching of the pickup. Very cool that it only requires loosening/removing the strings, no other mods at all. I'm using one on a Larrivee D03 and another on a Martin J15-12 when miking is not an option, which is most of my gigs. The EQ-7545R Pre-Amp Unit for piezo pick-up is relatively simple to install if you have a regular acoustic, if you are trying to install this in a cigar box guitar, you'll have to deal with the curvature of the frame as well as making sure the hole you cut is an exact fit for it. Otherwise you won't be able to get the frame screwed down flush with the box with extra screws top and bottom. The tone quality is excellent and you have a full range of options to shape the sound with 4 band equalizer and "presence" control. Really gives a piezo pick-up the depth of tone range you could only get with a magnetic pick-up before. Would recommend this, but be aware these units are primarily for acoustic guitars and present problems to install in cigar box guitars and and/or any other instrument having a flat rather than curved surface.99steve99

Graphtech has made installation of the preamp kit as easy as possible. Everything came with pin connectors attached to all of the leads and clear instructions. I was using a different output jack than the one that came with the kit, and their instructions covered that change as well. I rebuilt an Epi Dot installing this system, I run my acoustic sounds out to an acoustic preamp and my electric sounds out to my guitar amp, and it's very very cool. Finally got the guitar sound in my head. If your a strummer like me and an acoustic alone don't do it for you, and neither does an electric, get a semi hollow and install one of these. You'll love it. Put your electric guitar amp on one side of the drums and your acoustic amp on the other and take over the whole rhythm section. Very cool switching between acoustic electric and both. The mid dark switch almost sounds like a phase switch.nobody special
