Graphtech has made installation of the preamp kit as easy as possible. Everything came with pin connectors attached to all of the leads and clear instructions. I was using a different output jack than the one that came with the kit, and their instructions covered that change as well. All that was left was connecting the mag pickup volume output to the Acousti-phonic lead and that was that. Just make sure you have room in your control cavity for all of the wires. As you can see in the attached photo. Mine was a tight squeeze.John D.
I rebuilt an Epi Dot installing this system, I run my acoustic sounds out to an acoustic preamp and my electric sounds out to my guitar amp, and it's very very cool. Finally got the guitar sound in my head. If your a strummer like me and an acoustic alone don't do it for you, and neither does an electric, get a semi hollow and install one of these. You'll love it. Put your electric guitar amp on one side of the drums and your acoustic amp on the other and take over the whole rhythm section. Very cool switching between acoustic electric and both. The mid dark switch almost sounds like a phase switch.nobody special

Hands down! The best sound for an acoustic. I was looking for something that I could hear each string with the same balance. And this pickup was perfect! You dont hear more of one string or less of one. Every string has the same volume and tone. And in the clean channel with no eq, it has natural low end!performanceautoglassandtint
This pickup works great. It's easy to install yourself if you're brave. It took me about an hour. I recommend several pieces of tape over the end pin hole before you drill the guitar, this helps prevent chipping the finish, I also recommend access to a good belt sander to get the bridge sanded down just right to compensate for the pickup underneath it. Despite seeing the one-star review on this item, I decided to try it. Big mistake. When plugging in the cord to power up the pickup, the light would come on when the cord was half-way in and then turn back off when the cord was fully in. So I returned it for another one, figuring I couldn't get two that were faulty, right? Wrong. Big mistake. The second unit did the exact same thing. Basically, this thing is junk in a box. I've had my Taylor 614CE Grand Auditorium with the Taylor Expression pickup in it for almost 14 years now and never was pleased with the EQ options with the pickup. Solo/acoustic, it was fine because it had a nice "warmth" about it and made my sound more "full," but performing with my band and/or other musicians, it would "muddy" up the sound and would never "cut through" like I wanted it to. I tried various pedals and other EQ'ing options, but nothing every worked to get the sound like I wanted it to. Another problem I had was it had ZERO percussive capabilities for my looping shows. A fellow musician recommended the Fishman Matrix Infinity, and after weeks of researching various pickups, I decided to go with it and can't be more happier! I can get a "kick drum" sound out of my acoustic now, if needed, and the blending option allows me to get various effects/sounds I never had an option to get out of my old system. I would HIGHLY recommend this pickup for any guitar!

I have heard no after market pickup that more faithfully reproduces the tone of an acoustic guitar. Easy install, comes with jig and extra adhesive strips in case you (or your friend), oh I don't know, drop your guitar on the concrete floor of a Masaai church in Kenya and have to send your guitar back to the states for repair, but want to put the pickup into a cheap yahama for the time being. Baggs even sent me and extra jig and adhesives, in Kenya, to install it. And it makes the Yamaha sound very good, even though it doesn't even really sound that good acoustically! An amazing pickup that I will use as long as they are still in production! Easy to use, easy to install, virtually indestructible, lightweight and invisible. Outstanding quality and design. After considerable research I had a Baggs iBeam active installed in my Martin D28 – I'd found the D28 recorded well with a mic, but tended to be boomy when mic'd for live sound reinforcement. An experienced Martin guitar tech installed it for me. I've tried it straight into a mixing board and through a Genz-Benz Shen Pro-LT. It sounds oh so very natural, and gets all the gain I need. It really shines for finger-style. It may not be a good choice in loud environments, as it would probably feedback, but in such situations tonal subtlety is usually less important. It was also important that it was both visually unobtrusive and physically non-invasive. That way it can be replaced – the D28 is likely to outlive the useful life of any pickup system. I am picky about sound quality and am quite happy…price was reasonable too.Return2Normal
Sound: Installed it in a Composite Acoustics Legacy/Dreadnought guitar. The sound is very natural. A lot easier to install. Like one other person said here it is real boomy at your regular settings. I had to back the bass off on my amp. It is real microphone sounding as thats probably what it is. Thus it is feedback prone if you are sitting in front of your speakers. It did well in a solo performance. Not sure how well it will do in a setting where volume is needed. But I would just use a different guitar. I do like it a lot. Features: Has a volume wheel you stick inside the sound hole out of sight. Ease of Use: With the installation jig that comes with it you can position the pickup exactly under the saddle perfectly. I really did not want to get into drilling holes under the saddle for the pickup wires, soldering wires, and sanding down the saddle. Installation is a snap. The Wow Factor: A pretty girl came up and said my guitar sounded real nice.

Guitars used: A Martin with minimal electronics, the tone does nothing. Another with LR Baggs more of everything. I have an EQ pedal an Compressor on my acoustic board to begin with. I was interested to see if this pedal basically did the same thing. After switching on and off comparisons I ended up keeping the Rez and taking off my EQ pedal. I could not duplicate what the Rez does with my EQ and Comp pedals. I did back my compressor way down to very light. I could have done without it but I like it. The Rez does kill feedback nicely even when I was sitting directly in front of my amp doing the tests. I got feedback with the pedals when pushing the bass and mids trying to match it but none with the Rez. After running through a bunch of my songs I really liked the new sound and picking dynamics. If you are not a pedal person this is the only pedal you will need at gigs and open mics. It does come with a 9v power supply. Nothing for instructions. I play a Taylor, and even the Expression System can use some help when you are in a live situation, playing through a PA. Many of the other "preamp" type options out there are great, but cost 200 – 300. This box warms up the sound, adds some compression, and just sounds fantastic! Dead simple to use, as it has one adjustment knob. Footswitch turns the unit off/on, but with a hold can mute the signal for guitar changes. Also has the ability to switch the phase in order to get rid of low-end feedback in some situations. Bottom line, the Body Rez is just another example of the innovative folks at TC Electronics. I bought this to mitigate an issue with the TC Helicon harmonizer I own. The Helicon uses guitar signal for pitch correction but has an issue in that there is a signal bleed from the Helicon that causes a distortion in the guitar signal. I use the stereo signal to send the guitar magnetic signal to my amp, and the Fishman piezo signal to the Helicon, totally eliminates the distortion issue. That said, it does make a nice acoustic-like sound which I am experimenting with and may comment on in the future. Adds a new dimension to an already great guitar (American Deluxe Stratocaster). I have experiences with various pickups, mostly the passive kind, that have left me wanting. The last kind, also a Fishman, had a rubber covering for the sound hole that interfered with my finger picking, and then having the cord dribble out from the front of the sound hold left something to be desired too. This unit, though on the pricey side, is just what the doctor ordered. Clear, crisp tone – sounds like your guitar! And you get to play to your heart's content with whether you want the pickups or the mic or both to capture that sound. I can tell you that you can probably spend the rest of your life seeking that "sweet spot" for the position of the condenser mic. This enhances the Graphtech Ghost bridge I installed. Installation was relatively simple since all the wiring is modular and plugs into the pre amp. Minimal soldering was required for the jack and switches. There are a lot of wires so the electronic cavity in my guitar is full but I did not have to enlarge it or modify the cavity.Martin
Absolutely the best acoustic guitar sound from any electric guitar hands down. I've tried and owned aftermarket piezo systems and OEM piezo equipped guitars, the ghost just has that nature sound. It reacts like a "plugged in" acoustic guitar. Soft passages are smooth and even, all the strings have equal output, something the other systems did not have. Step into it and the Ghost just gets dynamic, no piezo "quack" or unnatural thin, sharp distorted tones. Add the fact that string breakage becomes a thing of the past, will pay for its self inside a couple of months. I have had these installed in all my acoustics for many years, and they cant be beat. Not quacky sounding like so many others. Only thing better sounding would be combining with a sound hole mike, but then you have feedback problems. This makes guitar look stock. Get one, you wont regret it!argotdeblooz

This amazingly sensitive under-saddle transducer was developed to transfer the maximum combination of sound elements that exist at the bridge. the real guitar sound with all its natural frequencies and resonances is being transmitted directly at the sound source, the bridge. to meet these requirements, the k&k engineers used a "super-light" construction principle. only ultra-thin material cradles the piezo-crystals, which ensures the unrestrained transfer of the wood vibrations directly to the crystals. this eliminates the need to provide electronic post-processing to improve the sound, as is the case with many other bridge pickups. design – in the fantastick classic pickup, k&k uses selected hand-matched piezo-crystals which specifically complement the mellower sound of the nylon strings. their patented "super-light" construction, along with the selected piezo material for nylon strings, are the main differences between the fantastick and other bridge pickup transducers. construction – during the development k&k discovered that when different classic guitars were tested, the high e-string always transmitted more finger-picking noise than the other strings. the solution to this problem was to fit the fantastick classic with special piezo crystal for the high e-string. this single crystal records less bass frequencies than the other crystals, so that the finger picking impact of all 6 strings is transduced equally. to balance the volumes of each string, k&k measures each crystal separately within the nano-inch range. only six crystals of exactly the same height are combined to create one fantastick.

This thing buzzes worse than a single coil next to a neon light. I got the string ground from Taylor and it helped a little but still had more buzz than my Telecaster. Don't waste your money. In all fairness, if you want a pickup to bang around with a garage band, this will probably work just fine for you, especially if you use a pre-amp or a pedal with a gain control. It is certainly easy to install. You should get a string grounding setup from Taylor before you install the pickup, so you can do the entire installation at one time. If you are looking for a recording pickup, or play in quiet venues, this won't do it! Easy installation, if that what is important. This is a passive single-coil pickup. It is very susceptible to noise and has very little output gain, which make the overall signal-to-noise ratio very poor. Taylor makes an add-on string grounding system which eliminates most of the 60Hz hum that the pickup has in all except the most prestine environments, but the amp gain has to be turned up so high that there is still a bunch of noise produced. The pickup and attached connector seem to be made and assembled well. Noting the comments in the Features rating, I would have expected Taylor to come up with a much better product for their exceptional guitar! As noted above.dockhound

Neat little device! Stereo pan is awesome! Works very well live with a little setup EQ and switching to nickel wound strings: EJ 21 Jazz Light (12-52 with a wound 24 gauge G) for 6 string and for 12 string I use EXL150 10-46 with a substitiute wound low G and octave A @ 17 or 18 (D'Addario makes'em!) to get a nearly perfect string dB balance, with a little pitching of the pickup. Very cool that it only requires loosening/removing the strings, no other mods at all. I'm using one on a Larrivee D03 and another on a Martin J15-12 when miking is not an option, which is most of my gigs. No wireless latency perceptible and no drop outs so far, but I stand right beside my rack most nights…dr_sociable
