I could spend all day yapping about this pedal…In my travels i've tried countless pedals, but got tired of having 'too many' pedals. The weight, the time it took to hook it all up. I also busk, or play where electricity isn't available, and wanted a setup where i could make one trip with everything, and keep the weight down. I've always been a fan of ZOOM products, so trying out the Multistomp series was a no-brainer for me. The 50G met all my requirements, and exceed them all after i got one and started using it. Tones that are as good as any higher priced pedal, the versatility is second to none, and the price is killer for what this pedal can do. I would say the the Bluetooth version was my favorite, then the 70CDR, then the 50G, with the 50G's new 3.0 update, the 50 G is now my favorite pedal…period. The 50G started with maybe 50 patches, now it has 172, and best of all it has the Exciter patch, which to me is required on any pedal board. All i can suggest is watch the countless demo videos of this pedal. I would recommend this pedal for any level of guitarist, i would also recommend the MS-70CDR, watch the demo videos of the 70-CDR vs Strymons…amazing I cant say enough good things about the 50G, i believe it's near the perfect all around pedal. The MS-50G pedal is first class. It is every bit as clean, quiet, and well built as the Boss pedals. It is not a replacement for the Boss line. Zoom pedals have a character of their own. Personally, I like the Zoom tone. But I'm not a guitar player. There is a great ~15 minute YouTube instructional video for the MS-50G. I got over the learning curve for writing and storing effects by watching this video, then I bought pedal. It replaces several pieces of my high quality studio gear when I need fast results that are of high level audio quality. Zoom delivers with this product. After I watched this video I purchased the pedal. I also like my G1X as a companion to this pedal. The G1X has a nice volume/expression pedal.Sean
I needed something for my living room and practicing while watching TV late at night without a full pedal board or multi-effects box. This along with a Boss RC-3 and a mini mixer for my wireless headphones provides everything I have in my studio at a mini level. The sounds are good enough. There are enough options in sound to play most anything. Eventually I'll try this little beast as a sub for my full pedal board and see how it works in a live jam. One pedal to do everything. It's not perfect but it is great. I wish Zoom would provide updates to it and a better manager. It's pretty old by today's standards and if Zoom provided updated files they would sell even more if these great little boxes. Great for saving riffs when you're noodling or coming up with song ideas. Sound quality is excellent and the pedal is small and easy to operate. Fuzz sounds great and phaser sounds great. Its a damn shame though they didn't give you the ability to just use the fuzz. Had I been on that design team I would have insisted on it. Also the volume drop kind of sucks and one more thing that kind of annoys me is the inability to change the speed of the fast phasing. I could also mention the fact that it basically takes almost all the real estate on your board as well as being the heaviest pedal I've ever owned so playing live with it is kind of a no go. They say they don't make them like they used to, and this pedle is to make them. Amazing. The price kinda sucks, but after enough youtube reviews, i oulled the trigger, and this is how it should be. As a fuzz and phaser junkie I was really excited to get this pedal. But after two hours of sorting through the various settings, I have concluded this pedal WOULD be nearly perfect if it had a TONE KNOB. But it doesn't. Using the 'Jet' settings (fuzz) this pedal is insanely bright. Too bright. Using a Marshall DSL1 through a 1×12 cab I first used a Player Series Strat (SSS) and even on the neck pickup with the tone on 0 it was just too bright. Turning down the treble on the amp didn't help. I switched to an HSH Strat and the tone was tamed slightly with humbuckers but it was just still too bright. The two phaser-only settings don't sound bad but the volume drop when the effect is engaged makes it almost inaudible. I'll be returning this and going back to my MXR Phase 95 and Ram's Head Big Muff fuzz. I have to say the pedal appears to be very well made. If it only had a tone knob…

First of all let me say I also have the G1ON and bought the G1X Four for the enhanced features and so I'd have one with the expression pedal. I sold all my tube amps when I was laid off, retired and moved to Mexico. My reference point is tweed and blackface era tube amps. I gotta say, once you learn how to dial in the tones you want, these little plastic boxes do a pretty decent job of amp and effects modeling. Like the G1ON, the G1X 4 does a good job of imitating the touch and volume control dynamics of a cranked tube amp at any volume. I really like the Deluxe Reverb, AC30 and DC30 simulations. The G1ON has more vintage style amp types to choose from, and in that regard it is more useful to e. Two kinds of spring reverb, one eats up a lot of memory but really sounds lush like an external unit along with the other types (room, plate, hall, church, etc.). Tremolo is built into the Fender models that have tremolo along with a couple of very configurable trems and rotating speaker effects. The G1 4 does NOT have the Z Organ effect the G1ON does, boo hoo. Beyond that, there are tons of effects to play with and they all sound good to my ears. I currently have 3 small amp setups. 1. Quilter 101 mini docked in their 10" BlockDock cab. 2. Quilter MicroBlock 45 pedal teamed with a 5E3 pine cab with a Emi Legend 12" and 3. an old Carvin SX50 1×12". I can get all three do to do the Deluxe Reverb,Vox AC15/30, E and F series Tweed tones that don't make me miss my tube amps. Wish I would have had the G1ON and the 17.7lb Quilter 1×10" combo back when I was in a blues band and gigging. Interface improvements from the G1ON… Improved display allows for more descriptive/longer patch names. Four pots act as master vol, bass, middle, treble during performance mode for global tone and volume tweeking. The four pots also make adjusting settings easier. For several years now, my pedalboard has had only ONE guitar "FX" pedal. First it was the G1Xon. Now it's the G1Xfour. I play both acoustic AND electric thru the pedal, and they BOTH sound great! Though I've played for over 40 years, I'm not a professional musician and rarely play out; but I do play a lot at home and IMO this is the best VALUE "name brand" guitar multi-FX pedal on the market. It's super affordable, very easy to use, sounds terrific, and is a total blast to play. In fact, this is the FIRST of TWO guitar pedals I recommend for every novice guitarist. I can't speak to it's use in a live setting , that's not what I bought this for but to have at home to record whether bedroom music or demos it's perfect. The effects are great they're easy to use, the older Zoom models were a bit laborious to set up and get sounding right but this has enough knobs to feel like you are just setting up any stand alone pedal. The distortions, the delays, reverbs etc are all good but it's the amp modelling and the EQ options that make it a great little tool to work with. No amp or no room for one in your apartment where your neighbours will pound the walls if you so much as sneeze too loud? No problem !!! this little guy's got you covered. A little tinkering and your demos sound better, a little more and you can get a reasonably good sound for home recordings. The looper is great, its easy to use. The tuner is good. What's not to love ? Plug this into your computer or your four-track or whatever recording devise you've got on with the earphones and you have a decent sounding pedal board and amp which takes up as much space as a box of chocolates. No one will be any the wiser. I'm sure I sound like an absolute shill for Zoom. I don't care I have a bunch of their gear and I love it all. Is it built to survive the apocalypse? No. Most of the stuff I own is plastic. Is it as warm and distinctive as Electro-harmonix or Boss ? No, but it's cheap and it's solid and it works. Is it going to sound perfect through your huge amp? I don't know but it's probably not the point. Me – I make music at home with cheap gear because I have no money or space. Zoom are a gift to home recorders everywhere. Overall: I've been playing through a Headrush gigboard and needed something different that was just as easy to use, had plenty of tones that were inspiring, that didn't cost as much. I've owned a few Line 6 products over the 30 years of playing music and decided to buy the Pod Go. So worth it! The tones were better than expected, and if you can't afford the Helix series, this is the best choice for a floor unit under $500. The built in expression pedal with toe switch is perfect. You can switch between volume and wah wah or other parameters just by pressing the toe switch in the expression pedal. Basically you don't have to have another expression pedal. The built in pedal can do what you need. I am not tech savvy, I bought the Headrush gigboard last year because of how easy it is to use. I didn't think a floor unit could be. Then comes the Pod Go. It's actually much easier to use than the Headrush. Granted the two have different features but I found making your own sounds easier with the Pod Go. It seems I make them in a shorter time. The color display along with color footswitches make organizing sounds easier than making coffee. If you need a floor unit under 500 the Pod Go is the best choice on the market. If you're a metal head or a traditional Jazz player or love the complexity of Fusion, the Pod Go has your sound.
I was looking at purchasing a Helix LT and upon researching I came across the Pod Go Wireless. It does everything I required from the Helix but at less than half the price, size and weight. You can dial in some great tones, I use it through an 80w Marshall combi straight into the FX return (turning off the cab sim on the Pod) and it sounds very impressive. The amount of effects to choose from is incredible and you can tweak so many variables to get that perfect tone. The wah treadle is very good but it’s not so great when used as a volume pedal as it doesn’t seem to gradually increase/decrease the volume, it’s almost on/off. The wireless feature is very good, I’ve not had any connection issues and don’t have to worry about treading on my cable, which I’m very prone to. Overall, for what I need in a jamming/garage band capacity it is perfect and I’m very, very pleased with the purchase. PMT delivered the next day, it was very well packaged and was the best price I found on the internet.Martin M.
Overall: I wish I could say something positive about this unit. Although it does have some great sounds and features, the fact that it is constantly having to be rebooted because it freezes up or shuts down on its own make it pretty much worthless (Yes I’ve done all the updates and other futile suggestions from the support folks at line 6). Add to that a power supply that is a complete piece of crap. It’s cheap, fragile and generally a bad design. It is almost impossible to find a replacement because line 6 wanted it that way. Simply using a Standard, generic replacement (9v 2500 mA) Is tricky and not guaranteed to work. My review for this product: Look for something else better from a company who is not obsessed with nickel and diming their customers to death over some ridiculous accessory.

I bought a "very used" Boss LS-2 that had a broken red LED. After replacing both LEDs with brighter ones, it works perfectly after a clearly abusive past. I bought it to replace a PSM-5 power supply pedal that was the standard power-distribution Boss pedal of the 1980s. The LS-2 gives far more options than the PSM-5 but it does not fit directly into the older BCB-6 pedal boards – you have to put a spacer under the pedal to raise the input and output jacks so you can connect input and output cables. You really need top-quality cables with right-angled jack plugs to make this work correctly. In many ways, the cable routing of the old PSM-5 is much simpler and easier. Having said that, once you have got the pedal connected, it is a wonderful tool for any pedal board. The separate volume controls on the two effect loops are very useful. There are a lot of options and I can see that I could use two LS-2 in my current rig. Boss should really design a twin pedal version, maybe call it a LS-20? In a twin pedal, they could have stereo options and the second pedal could allow you to toggle through the 6 looping model options on the switch of the LS-2. Note: If you are using the modern BCB-60 and BCB-30 boards, the spacing problem described above is not an issue.emtytler
I purchased this to switch between two amps/effect chains and it will do exactly that with no problem. The issue is that this unit introduced an annoying high frequency whine into my signal chain. I verified it was the LS-2 by removing every other variable and confirming that the noise was only present with the LS-2 in line both on adapter and battery power. This one's going back!GS67
This pedal is very straight forward. You want to output to a couple of amps? This will do it. You want to switch between a couple of instruments into the same amp? This will do it (great for switching between guitar and keys live). Want to switch between a couple of effects pedals at the same time? This will do it. It arrived a few days ago from MF. I want to highlight what I like about it without repeating the contents of its manual. Bottom line, for my usage replacing a Fender black panel Deluxe, a spring reverb, and a Tube Screamer, it is excellent. I am using the Vibro King amp model for most of my tweaking, but I also set up the Twin Reverb (super clean), Super Reverb, and Marshall JCM800 (crunch even with the guitar volume relatively low). The Twin model would not distort without a boost included in the "scene" even with my guitar and the model volumes at 10. That was the one anomaly from my expectations. I like the Vibro King model, amplified by my QSC CP8 (on the floor, on its side, backside EQ set to floor monitor), and do not prefer my now sold Tone Master Deluxe. The first thing I did was download the 2022-10-31 Firmware update and install it. Instructions to put the pedal in "DFU" mode to accept the update were missing. A YouTube video found via Google explained to hold both foot switches while powering up. Next, I installed the main NuX App for my Mac. I disabled the third "scene" such that the "scene foot switch" becomes a "scene" toggle (one cleaner, one with the Tube Screamer engaged, both with spring reverb). I then went through the amp models I planned to use (two "scenes" each, which must be done individually) and set all the controls to 12 o'clock. I tweaked the amp, spring reverb, and Tube Screamer to taste. I now have three ways to boost for an overdriven solo starting with the Vibro King as my clean base: turn up the guitar, foot switch to the Tube Screamer "scene", or foot switch to the JCM800 amp model. I explain all this detail because it took about an hour and without this work the pedal is disappointing. The software was almost easy enough to use without the nonexistent manuals (to do it again it would take much less time). Once done, everything can be adjusted via the knobs and optionally saved with the left foot switch. No menus to navigate at a gig. You can see in the pictures that it is quite small (Tube Screamer for reference), weighs exactly 1 lb. (less than that Tube Screamer), and draws only 3 watts. Leaving it run over night only gets it to room temperature. My old HX Stomp would have been hot to the touch and required a 20-watt power supply. Is it a Universal Audio quality Twin Reverb, Super Reverb, JCM800, or Vibro King modeler? Impossible for me to know. But for what I want, a classic black panel 60s Fender amp tone, spring reverb, and foot switchable Tube Screamer, it is a complete solution in a small package. No aspect of IO is missing (XLR, USB-C, ¼", 3.5mm, MIDI over USB). It also has an effects loop, graphic EQ, all the usual reverb types, 1024 IR loader, a selection of boost/overdrive/compression pedal models, and a noise gate which I've not tried. If one of the amp models is acceptably flat response you could use its 1024 IR loader, reverb collection, and compressor collection for your acoustic guitar too. Wow! What's missing? For my usage a master volume not associated or saved with an amp model "scene" would be nice. It does make a click when switching amp models or "scenes". Bought this as a upgrade from the pod xt. With an effects loop, balanced line in and ability to run two amps at a time is what attracted me to it. I really like the dr z, fender and Mesa models and when it worked recorded well. Works in the front of amps and also 4 cable method. Decent passable tone if you want that. Issue is the line 6 monkey and updates. These include firmware patches that will lock the footboard and delete your stored custom patches. There is a way to do a factory reset and I did 6 times over two months. Now my board can't reset and is stuck on one channel. Line 6 has terrible online support and a number of listed service centers that either went out of business or non longer service line 6 products. I have went back to my pod xt while not as good sounding will still work with my daw.503roofdesign
After much consideration I chose the Boss GT-100 over the HD500. The HD500 dominates the Boss counterpart in the direct in/recording… the I/O on the HD500 is far better than the GT-100. However, i rely on amplitube for preliminary recording and reamping for the real thing. I needed to find a floor unit that could run good sounding amp models out of a tube amplifier. I ran a GT-10 into the return section of my 6505+ for a couple of years. For those who don't know this literally bypasses the amplifiers preamp section and is now fully controlled by the GT-100. This is where the GT-100 shines, my live sound unparalleled, most guys with ENGL and mesa mark series amps are asking where I got my 6505+ modded. I don't bother with the four cable method, but regardless the GT is miles past the HD500 when you add a tube amp to the mix. I almost thought about getting one of the new HD PODS anyway, just to have for when i visit other studios and lay down tracks that I do not have the time to sit there fidgeting with my tone, because it really is that good for direct recording. But now that Fractal Audio has released the AX-8 I think I will do a little more saving.Ricktalyf
Pod HD 500x is an upgrade for me of pod XT live. Id had that for ten years and maybe I had the focus to learn learn learnt. Right now I have teens and life is busy, however tho I haven't out the time in with pod hd500x you can make stereo rigs (one amp on ear panned ear/side of the stage thru PA or two amps) and if you put some slight milliseconds of delay on one side of that it widens the sounds completely. It is loaded with amps, like pod XT was, and effects and more effects in the case of 500x AND it has greater sound quality throughout as well as a looper – a short looper and useful extra, tho definately not a replacement for a real looper AND when you learn how, using the stereo amp setup you can set up two guitars (one needs to be a variax and one a quarter inch input, or an xl mic and guitar, or a variax and guitar AND they can have DIFFERENT rigs each, that is, different amps or preamp plus effects for each instrument. Therefore POD HD 500x is like having 2 pod XT lives AND a looper AND better sound quality and diverse output options. However, if you don't want to read manuals OR tweak much, watch videos on how to make patches and read the manual to see if you want something so complicated and deep. In my opinion it's worth the work, though I am only starting to realise what I can do, but I don't think you need to understand everything in this tool box to get value. This was cheaper new with all the extras and plus shipping than a pod XT was 12 years ago or whenever I bought it. Consider well. Amazing tool. Great value.aidanpoulter

Really loving this, getting back to playing after about 20 years away, got this multi effects pedal and I’m playing every day, plenty amp sims and effects to play with, got about 5 favourites already, not played about enough with the blank slots so can’t say too much about that. Drum beats are good for jamming along with and keepin time. Love the looper, really cool for dual parts ( I play a lot of iron maiden) and for noodling over your own backing track. Went for this one with the expression pedal, not using it much but that’s probably my style more than anything, it works. I’m using a standard mini usb to power, not tried recording yet, busy playing and having fun. Using headphones mostly, sounds great, put it through my 30 year old Marshall when I get the chance, sounds awesome. Bottom line, I’m just messing about in the spare room, having fun. Not a performer or gigging or anything. This has everything I need/want and the rest. Price is pretty good for what your getting. Should actually get a refund on this. Seemed like a good product but tried to connect with Guitar Lab to add effects. I got connected, added a couple of FX but lost some factory effects that were pretty good (Comp). Then, tried to connect again to get these back but can't connect anymore. Tried 2 computers as well, many times. Anyway, the box is stuck with FX it has now so, not good. Poor product if you can't get it to function properly.Zoom Man
It works well, covers a lot of different effects (including amps and cabinets), and the user interface is pretty easy to learn. There are some limitations in its capabilities (for instance, there's little memory available to add effects unless you uninstall some of the defaults, and some combinations of effects can't be used because it doesn't have enough processing power), but at this price you have to expect that. One thing they could improve without adding cost to the device is the documentation; expect to use your favourite search engine a lot while figuring this thing out.Steve

It's a good pedal. I've been modding DS-1's for some time now, finally found a simple formula for taming the harshness, excessive distortion and almost unusable tone stack with only 5 or 6 component changes – but the stock Dyna Drive sounds better in almost every way. As others have noted, it's a bit lacking at the bottom end, but not enough to really bother me. It adds a nice, smooth layer of dirt on a clean amp without altering your basic tone, can get grind, but really shines at the lower drive settings. Stacked with the modded DS-1 and a Fulltone Fat Boost, I'm getting a lot of range out of a Tele on a budget. And, oh yeah, it's pretty quiet. Might get another.johnc115
I think some people turn their noses up at this pedal because it is digital and doesn't come from a trendy boutique company. My advice, as with any piece of equipment, is to try the PH-3 out and decide for yourself. This pedal is capable of producing everything from subtle phase shifting to wild spacey synth-like sounds and everything in between. If you are just looking for a good basic meat-and-potatos phaser, I'd go for an EXH Small Stone or script logo MXR Phase 90. If you want a pedal that will do those sounds (perhaps with a bit less warmth and richness) while covering a great deal more sonic territory, then the PH-3 is well worth the price. The Hardwire SP-7 is also a multi function digital modeling phaser. I would give the SP-7 a slight advantage over the PH-3 in terms of sound quality. It sounds a bit more natural and analog compared to the Boss. If you plan to stick more to vintage and traditional phaser tones, I'd go with the Hardwire. If you want access to more adventurous and progressive sounds, the Boss really is the way to go. By the way, I do hear a moderate volume drop in 4 Stage mode that I wish wasn't there. First of all let me say I also have the G1ON and bought the G1X Four for the enhanced features and so I'd have one with the expression pedal. I sold all my tube amps when I was laid off, retired and moved to Mexico. My reference point is tweed and blackface era tube amps. I gotta say, once you learn how to dial in the tones you want, these little plastic boxes do a pretty decent job of amp and effects modeling. Like the G1ON, the G1X 4 does a good job of imitating the touch and volume control dynamics of a cranked tube amp at any volume. I really like the Deluxe Reverb, AC30 and DC30 simulations. The G1ON has more vintage style amp types to choose from, and in that regard it is more useful to e. Two kinds of spring reverb, one eats up a lot of memory but really sounds lush like an external unit along with the other types (room, plate, hall, church, etc.). Tremolo is built into the Fender models that have tremolo along with a couple of very configurable trems and rotating speaker effects. The G1 4 does NOT have the Z Organ effect the G1ON does, boo hoo. Beyond that, there are tons of effects to play with and they all sound good to my ears. I currently have 3 small amp setups. 1. Quilter 101 mini docked in their 10" BlockDock cab. 2. Quilter MicroBlock 45 pedal teamed with a 5E3 pine cab with a Emi Legend 12" and 3. an old Carvin SX50 1×12". I can get all three do to do the Deluxe Reverb,Vox AC15/30, E and F series Tweed tones that don't make me miss my tube amps. Wish I would have had the G1ON and the 17.7lb Quilter 1×10" combo back when I was in a blues band and gigging. Interface improvements from the G1ON… Improved display allows for more descriptive/longer patch names. Four pots act as master vol, bass, middle, treble during performance mode for global tone and volume tweeking. The four pots also make adjusting settings easier. For several years now, my pedalboard has had only ONE guitar "FX" pedal. First it was the G1Xon. Now it's the G1Xfour. I play both acoustic AND electric thru the pedal, and they BOTH sound great! Though I've played for over 40 years, I'm not a professional musician and rarely play out; but I do play a lot at home and IMO this is the best VALUE "name brand" guitar multi-FX pedal on the market. I can't speak to it's use in a live setting , that's not what I bought this for but to have at home to record whether bedroom music or demos it's perfect. The effects are great they're easy to use, the older Zoom models were a bit laborious to set up and get sounding right but this has enough knobs to feel like you are just setting up any stand alone pedal. The distortions, the delays, reverbs etc are all good but it's the amp modelling and the EQ options that make it a great little tool to work with. No amp or no room for one in your apartment where your neighbours will pound the walls if you so much as sneeze too loud? No problem !!! this little guy's got you covered. A little tinkering and your demos sound better, a little more and you can get a reasonably good sound for home recordings. The looper is great, its easy to use. The tuner is good. What's not to love ? Plug this into your computer or your four-track or whatever recording devise you've got on with the earphones and you have a decent sounding pedal board and amp which takes up as much space as a box of chocolates. No one will be any the wiser. I'm sure I sound like an absolute shill for Zoom. I don't care I have a bunch of their gear and I love it all. Is it built to survive the apocalypse? No. Most of the stuff I own is plastic. Is it as warm and distinctive as Electro-harmonix or Boss ? No, but it's cheap and it's solid and it works. Is it going to sound perfect through your huge amp? I don't know but it's probably not the point. Me – I make music at home with cheap gear because I have no money or space. Zoom are a gift to home recorders everywhere. If you are looking for a good practice amp modeler that is compact and has quite an array of effects and amps than the Pocket Pod should do the trick. I gig regularly and felt the Pocket Pod would be ideal for gigs where I didn't want to haul my tube amp around. Sound wise I'm not disappointed in hooking my pocket pod up to a sound board. However, where this product ultimately fails is there is NO On/Off switch! To activate the pod you plug your guitar directly into the input jack and it comes on. Once on you pretty much have to leave the guitar plugged in for your entire set or risk getting a loud pop through the PA system. And leaving the pod plugged in makes the pod get very warm and drains your batteries. I have a circuit breaker guitar cable so I can switch guitars without getting the dreaded pop in the PA system. I'm sure the people at Line 6 cut out the On/Off feature to save room. But I've never seen any piece of equipment that can't be turned off with a button. Look, if you REALLY have to have a Martin D-45 sound, guess what Of course this pedal will never do that. BUT, if you need something that sounds somewhat acoustic-like in a band mix and don't want to carry an extra (not to mention fragile) instrument, then this will work just fine. Not authentic, not great, not amazingly life-like, just FINE. With realistic expectations this pedal is as good as any for what it intends to do. I use this in an A/B/Y rig. Tha A side goes to my regular pedalboard and amps. The B side goes to this pedal and a volume pedal direct to FOH via a direct box. I get the "acoustic" sound fed back to me through my monitor (or ears if that applies occasionally). I can have straight electric, straight "acoustic", or use the Y option to blend the two to my liking. Works for me, YMMV. I play "for-hire" mostly and my clients love the versatility of my setup. Also, DO NOT run this pedal through a tube amp if you want the best results. It will definitely work best either run straight to FOH or through a clean solid-state amp. Overall: Here's it in a nutshell, if you have a song or two to play onstage it can work but won't be a great sound. Positive features are response time doesn't lag, and it does have a reverb feature. If you like the sound and feel of an acoustic you won't like this. To say you wouldn't bring an acoustic to a gig for fear of it being damaged is kind of lame, maybe keep the expensive acoustic home but take the cheap one, you will get a better sound. I plugged a strat into a clean amps and it sounded better.
Have read many reviews both positive and negative about this pedal. The negatives were not specific but didn't hear their guitar and amp give an acoustic sound with this pedal. The positives were sometimes vague but they liked it. Then some went on to say they liked it not through a tube amp but through an acoustic amp or a PA system. I HOOKED IT up through a very small practice amp set clean and used the emulation out into a mixer then into a low power full range PA type system. Sounded excellent with neck single coil. Didn't try it with the middle single coil nor the bridge humbucker. I am very happy to have this pedal.Kenmorek

GT10 has all the building blocks and a good set of presets of popular guitar tones form the last six decades to further extent to any setup or sound you are after, provided you make the effort to learn to tweak. And yes, you will learn in a matter of few days to a week it is only rocket science, black magic and mystery if you let it be. Like many people comparing BOSS GT10 against L6 POD HD500, I too read all the reviews for about a year, completely torn (and even confused) between these two competing products. I brought both units home and compared them about a month. As I was suspecting, if you have EQ capability, fully parametric effects, and patience you can make either unit sound "approximately" the same. If POD HD500 or GT10 sound noticeably better than each other, you have some more tone shaping (EQ'ing) and effect parameter adjustments remaining — don't let the personal biases and conflicting reviews confuse the technical capability of each unit — they are on par. You can induce bigger differences in the tone by how you play between two successive plays, than you can hear from the equipment. Then it becomes user interface preference, and few unusual effects unique to each unit. Couple of feature I wish BOSS added are the stereo balanced XLR outputs, and stereo effect loop. You can always use external DI(s) for XLR conversion but there is no way around stereo effect loop (only relevant in recording scenario). I also wish POD HD500 had Linux support, better routing flexibility and sheer DSP power that BOSS has. If a patch has elements you dont want to hear, then you can use the equalizer to suppress it and boost the things you want to hear. After all, we hear sound which is expressed as Frequency and amplitude, which a parametric EQ can shape to any degree you like — so no argument on which unit sounds better — they both can be made to sound the same! Ideally you can hook up both units to a spectrum analyzer (Free software on PCs) and adjust sound visually for close match. I also wish any of these multi-effect units had a reference microphone input and built-in spectrum analyzer which allows you to superimpose your ideal tone against the measured tone, so that it can automatically match the two or allow you to manually match them. Taking a deeper look at the tone, within the sound envelope, there are also some dynamic behavior of effect attack and decay level and rate which are modeled in each unit and how multiple such effects in a chain interact with each other in time (Convolution), which depends on the DSP algorithm and power. For example how a Chorus effect interact with an overdrive effect. HD500 and GT10 take completely different approach to the algorithms employed to achieve the final sound output. However, with patience, your ears will guide you to achieve the desired sound — just play with all the parameters till you have a satisfactory tone. As always EQ'ing to match sounds between two different units is time consuming, and you have to evaluate when you have hit the point of diminishing returns. Linux support, user interface preference, live performance ergonomics and overall construction of the unit made me lean toward GT10 over POD HD500 (my own bias, now come up with your own).a_dealer

I have used many effects pedals over the past 20 years of playing and this one is a culmination of all the good ones I have played. 200 individual patches provides an incredible Library of songs to program into it. 2 Control pedals on the bottom allow tap delay and Boost option all "on the fly". The 4 quick change knobs below the screen give the user total control of subtle frequency changes at the touch of a button. The Sub-delay with regular delay allows you to program dotted quarter note with eighth note to duplicate a galloping type of rhythm found in songs like "Run like H***" by Pink Floyd and it is a great sound for Modern Christian Rock. I got this at an incredible deal on eBay at only $204. The factory programmed patches are brilliant on their own, so kudos to Boss for such detail. I simply make subtle adjustments to those they have programmed and I am on my way. I play exclusively at church with the Modern Christian Rock sound with overdrive and Delays and it is perfect for such use. I'm genuinely blown away by this unit… from ease of use to the sounds it produces. My band has recently gone to running a silent stage, and I wanted to try something other than running a line out from my Katana. I figured why lug and amp when I don't need to. I've used units like this before, (PD HD500X and an old Vox Tone Lab) but felt they still sounded artificial. The BOSS GX100 is amazing! The learning curve is hilariously easy, and the touch screen makes editing on the fly a breeze. The other guitar player in the band couldn't believe the sound coming through FOH… and the recording needed no tweaking in the studio. Incredibly happy with this purchase, as with everything I've purchased from Sweetwater. BOSS has outdone themselves again.
Overall: This is a heavy duty pedal with so many different great sounding amps and effects that I don't even know where to start. Well built is an understatement. The build of it screams professional. from the chassis to the knobs and expression pedal this thing feels Pro in every way.The amps are fewer than most companies offer but BOSS went the quality over quantity route here. From crystalline cleans to all out brutal and everything in between. The drives are excellent and so are the modulations, delays, and reverbs. I find them superior to my Helix actually. There's not enough room in this review box for me to go over everything I love. A couple things I do not love..There's no poly pitch in this unit. The assigns can be confusing at times especially when it comes to assigning the expression pedal. It was ok once I wrapped my head around it but it was definitely and obstacle I had to overcome. Overall this unit is well worth the 599 price tag. I have owned many modeling units for many years and this is one of the best I have had.Robert

This stomp box reasonably emulates the classic Binson Echorec rotary plate delay effects unit. Superficially resembling a tape delay, the original Binson Echorec produces its unique sound by pushing the sound through a preamp circuit and what can best be described as a rotary oilcan reverb tank, consisting of spinning plate inside a reverberation drum. The Binson Echorec can be configured anywhere from a subtle slap back or spank to a complex lingering echo trail, and became a mainstay of psychedelic and some progressive music. If youve ever heard A Saucerful of Secrets, thats a Binson Echorec. While not a perfect match, this particular stomp box circuit is remarkably close, even emulating the subtle hiss and ring of the spinning plate with the right adjustment, and it actually has a little more versatility than the original in that the virtual spinning plate has an adjustable angular velocity, while the original Binson did not. I highly recommend this particular effect, and it pairs well with other time effects such as a plate reverb or even a tape echo.yor-jona
Great sounding effect, perfect for that Pink Floyd sound. It worked great for a month or two. Then I started getting an uncontrollable occelating feedback that would not stop even after powering my entire rig down. It just resumed again on powering up, until I disconnected all my pedals patch cables and power. Through a process of elimination I found this to be the one causing it. I haven't tried contacting the manufacturer yet so I can't comment on service. I love the effect even at the price. I've already ordered the Keeley Dark Side & if that works out this one gets traded in along with a few others I will no longer need. I'll update this and review the Keeley after I've had time to try it out. Right now wishing the Keeley had been available earlier.MadCow
Once I got the correct 9v DC adapter this thing fired up awesome. I didn't really get to play with it on my tube amp, I'll do that later, but I played digitally with it and it was so darn good I used it for my show that night. The flexibility of this unit, clarity within the signal chain, and swell functions are so much fun for ambiance. The time function is quite nice, one can really get nice tap delays or other echos. I was comfortable enough with the unit that I just started mixing everything to totally different levels live and it worked sweet. I imagine this thing is great for recording too. This pedal manages to deliver in every application. Vintage mode is my favorite, and the tracking is excellent (but also delightfully glitchy as was the OC-2). Poly mode with the adjustable lower octave is very useful as well. Unlike other octave pedals this thing sounds incredibly fat, with a nice mid-heavy octave sound that really cuts through a mix. Still doing some tweaking since I've only had it a week. The tracking it pretty amazing and the option to dial in how many strings you want to have affected in the Poly mode is a great addition to it's multiple options. So far I've gotten some some very desireable sounds and expect to get many more out of this built like a tank great Boss pedal. If you want a great octave pedal, this is it IMO. I`m using this effect on bass just to have another trick in the bag, to me it sounds better on the D & G strings. It doesn`t come with a power supply and it is very picky about it. I`m using it with rechargeable 9 V batteries in order to avoid another cable on the floor and it will last me for about 10 hours. With batteries pay attention to the LED, the moment you see it dim replace the battery or it will stop sounding in no time.If that happen performing, you can remove the output cable and plug it into the "direct out" jack until you can replace the battery. And yes, it will drain out the battery if you have the cable connected to the pedal even if the pedal is "off" that`s why I replace the battery before a performance or practice with the band.Or you can use a power supply and avoid all this.Made in Malaysia. So I'm now working through their catalogue, an LR Baggs devotee; what they know about the physics of acoustics is equal to what they do about players. I really wanted to like this pedal. I love most of the other LR Baggs pedals. Just too bright, and no matter how I adjust it I can't seem to get a setting I like. It also seems to add feedback at almost any setting. Very "Digital Sounding". I reviewed this pedal before and liked it. But the more time I spend with it, its just not my thing. I did discover while messing around, The MXR M169 Carbon copy works amazing for acoustic guitar. Much more natural sounding and a dark delay that sits in the mix. That is the delay I use now.Big Rand
