Hands down! The best sound for an acoustic. I was looking for something that I could hear each string with the same balance. And this pickup was perfect! You dont hear more of one string or less of one. Every string has the same volume and tone. And in the clean channel with no eq, it has natural low end!performanceautoglassandtint

This pickup works great. It's easy to install yourself if you're brave. It took me about an hour. I recommend several pieces of tape over the end pin hole before you drill the guitar, this helps prevent chipping the finish, I also recommend access to a good belt sander to get the bridge sanded down just right to compensate for the pickup underneath it. I use this pickup with an LR Baggs ParaDI and I always get a great sound with them.ToddAllenHooper

Guitars used: A Martin with minimal electronics, the tone does nothing. Another with LR Baggs more of everything. I have an EQ pedal an Compressor on my acoustic board to begin with. I was interested to see if this pedal basically did the same thing. After switching on and off comparisons I ended up keeping the Rez and taking off my EQ pedal. I could not duplicate what the Rez does with my EQ and Comp pedals. I did back my compressor way down to very light. I could have done without it but I like it. The Rez does kill feedback nicely even when I was sitting directly in front of my amp doing the tests. I got feedback with the pedals when pushing the bass and mids trying to match it but none with the Rez. After running through a bunch of my songs I really liked the new sound and picking dynamics. If you are not a pedal person this is the only pedal you will need at gigs and open mics. It does come with a 9v power supply. Nothing for instructions. I play a Taylor, and even the Expression System can use some help when you are in a live situation, playing through a PA. Many of the other "preamp" type options out there are great, but cost 200 – 300. This box warms up the sound, adds some compression, and just sounds fantastic! Dead simple to use, as it has one adjustment knob. Footswitch turns the unit off/on, but with a hold can mute the signal for guitar changes. Also has the ability to switch the phase in order to get rid of low-end feedback in some situations. Bottom line, the Body Rez is just another example of the innovative folks at TC Electronics. Graphtech has made installation of the preamp kit as easy as possible. Everything came with pin connectors attached to all of the leads and clear instructions. I was using a different output jack than the one that came with the kit, and their instructions covered that change as well. All that was left was connecting the mag pickup volume output to the Acousti-phonic lead and that was that. Just make sure you have room in your control cavity for all of the wires. I rebuilt an Epi Dot installing this system, I run my acoustic sounds out to an acoustic preamp and my electric sounds out to my guitar amp, and it's very very cool. Finally got the guitar sound in my head. If your a strummer like me and an acoustic alone don't do it for you, and neither does an electric, get a semi hollow and install one of these. You'll love it. Put your electric guitar amp on one side of the drums and your acoustic amp on the other and take over the whole rhythm section. Very cool switching between acoustic electric and both. The mid dark switch almost sounds like a phase switch.nobody special

I’m a 54 yr old,pro player & guitar instructor, I’m always interested in budget guitars to suggest to students. I’ve found some feel cheap,or play horribly. This brand is quite the opposite, it has a solid feel, low action, rich bass and sparkling tone. I know those terms are tossed around a lot,listen to the demos on YT, this guitar sparkles like a nice acoustic should. The finish feels wonderful,it came with everything,a tuner, strap, extra strings,and a gig bag. The kit even came with a battery and a wrench to adjust the height of the action. The wrench works well, Ashthorpe has videos showing how to use it, The ELECTRONICS are what makes this instrument much better than the other budget acoustics on Amazon, It has a strong, rich equalizer onboard,u can do or subtract treble, or bass..or midrange..or the super high frequency string noises can be lowered or raised w the presence control. It has a volume control and a battery tester with LED right onboard. This electronics and preamp package is what you’d expect on guitars $300 or higher..It’s not Fishman or a famous brand, but it may as well be, it feels the same. I’ve owned over a hundred guitars, probably closer to 200 and I’ve never seen an acoustic electric with this kind of tone, feel and quality electronics in this price range..ever, if this guitar had no electronics,and was not electric-acoustic at all..it would still sell like crazy at this price. It’s almost hard to believe you get SO much for your hundred bucks. I have had acoustics where the case alone cost more than this guitar. Buy this model if you are considering a few different ones.. the thinline Ashthorpe makes is a smaller body, good for small hands, petite ladies or teens.. but the full size dreadnaught has the rich,thick bass u can feel in your body. The tone is better than the thinline,but a dread body can be big for some smaller people. The thinline was small and comfy,little more sparkly and less bass, but this model has the tone. And the way they laser etched the logo on the navy blue headstock is classy,it gives the whole guitar the expensive,modern vibe I go through guitars fast, I buy, sell, trade.and give some away to students…and I only wind up w the ones I LOVE. And I still have my Ashthorpe Dreadnaught Blue burst,it was a gift from my parents,.and has special meaning to me, Just buy this one,thank me later! forget the budget brands u see on Amazon..Ashthorpe users all leave great reviews, and for good reason.. the customer service is top notch too, a nice lady named Jennifer took great care of me when I had inquiries,and replied to my emails the same day, super quickly.Kevin G.(.I.

I purchased the guitar to play bottle neck slide on . Right out of the box it was easy to set up . Tuned up no issues. Nice action height , and really good sound . I would highly recommend the guitar . A real bargain for the money .Kevin

I’ve been a guitar instructor over 30 years, I’m a pro player with album credits on Warner, Gergen and more.. I’m 54 and playing since I’m 12 I own two Ashthorpe acoustics, this one in a dark butterscotch finish,and a full size dread in blue burst, The thinline has that tone like one of the smaller bodied guitars..bright,sparkly and up front. The body is not as thick as a big acoustic like my dreadnaught, but it is a full scale length adults acoustic.. they just made the body thinner for smaller folks to feel more comfy, The electronic package is superb,get it for that alone,you can plug in delays and effects, phase shifter and compressors, reverbs.. use the PA system or a small amp and play coffee house gigs, without the trouble of putting another Micah the guitar. The EQD section and the onboard controls are well made, useful and the eq points are musical and just right. It’s amazing how intuitive these designers were, they got just about everything right… the feel, the neck, the tone, the electronics..the finish.. it came with a strong gig bag ,not padded but rainproof and strong, like the nylon Tents and backpacks are made from..also a good electric tuner that works nicely,a cable,picks, a strap,extra strings..everything good quality and usable for a pro..maybe investing in a set of more expensive strings will help, the sets they provided sounded ok.but I’m guessing some high end strings would improve sound too,(Martin,Diaddario,Ernie Ball..etc) If u want something light and comfy, yet adult scale length with a pro feel and gorgeous woodwork, they’re out there.. but in this price range? There’s nothing available with the electronics package like this.. It’s so much fun playing with effects through an amp, this company is really awesome,they have instructional videos on YouTube and the customer service was polite,efficient and very pleasant.Kevin G.(.I.

This has to be the best book on how to build an electric guitar, it is very easy to follow and gives really good tips on how to avoid pitfalls, all in all a fantastic book that I would recommend over and over again, the plans are an excellent addition to it.j-s-6065

Kit looks great but : the veneer is very very thin – there were parts missing so if you get the kit – its not a bad kit for the money- but ck for all parts & ck the veneer on the bottom front for lifting of veneer.Charles Freeman

Best kit of the 4 guitars I've built. Everything fit nice and tight. All the components fit well and are of quality. The pickups are hot. Everything plugs together, no soldering. This guitar has a bolt on neck. Gibsons factory guitars are glued in place. The bolt on fit nice and tight and was well finished. The instructions are clear. Best kit. Fun.David Guzman

My experiece with acoustic guitar making was none. The Martin Kit I bought in 1984 gave all the fine parts as advertised. Study all available information on guitar building and use procedures you believe are best. I built my D-28 Sitka top with Rosewood sides and back using very few specialty tools and made do quite well. The result in sound prompted me to sell my factory built Martin and keep my home made instrument.The secrets are, read all you can about construction then go with confidence. You will be amazed at the simple things you can do to make your instrument fit the sound you desire. All the study you do will be more than rewarded when you have accomplished your goal. Do not hurry ! The kit I bought has given me twenty five years of musical pleasure.Grandpa Don

Never built a guitar before and this was great. It wasn't easy but there are many MANAGABLE steps. Some on here claim to be experienced luthiers and then complain about this kit…. Well guess what? It's a kit!!! Don't waste your money if you've built from scratch. You don't have as much flexibility with a kit as you would building scratch. Others complain its too hard. Well as a guy with no wood working experience, it's really not that hard. Can you finish this in a weekend, you ask? NO! This could take a couple months, especially if you're like me and want everything to be perfect, plus no woodworking experience. If you would like to get into wood working and guitar building, do this! Well worth the money! Just take your time and you'll have semi-custom built guitar. Ps. I made lots of mistakes!Dl

Good to exellent value – not for those who give up easily. THere used to be many more choices from the Martin Factory. My first build was a custom 000-18 with a big 1 7/8" nut 14 fret neck (dovetail joint) and I was able to carve the neck to fit my own hand. THis was back in 1995. The Sitka top was unbelievably nice – I haven't seen wood like that since. I was able to carve the braces etc as well. Still my favorite 000 size guitar. I was able to buy heringbone purfling for it as well. Nowadays Martin does just a few standard models. I have also done a D-18 (with the bolt-on style neck) which had an interesting bearclaw i the top wood. That one sounds great (1998 and my daughter still plays it. The neck came pre-carved which was a bit of a disappointment to me. Later did a DMX model when they were still selling laminate back and sides kits. Gave that to my dad and got it back last year after he passed. A bit of tweaking ( he never played) and that one sounds and plays great – and is played by my stepson. I began assembling these things with no experience at all. Read a lot, measured twice before I cut, made a few mistakes and learned from them and always ended up with great sounding and playing guitars. This would be a great way to begin a hobby and a way to build skills if you want to build more than one, but not really the easiest way to get a decent sounding guitar. Decent guitars are o inexpensive these days that the kit would not be a way to save money on a guitar but a way to begin a hobby that can get you a lot of really good guitars in the long run. Not their best wood anymore – at least not cosmetically – but good enough to make the guita sound great. Why would they let someone just ruin a great piece of wood anyway? Any experienced builder could figure out how to get to quality wood once they know what they are doing. The wood is good enough, though. A bit pricey if you are learning and aren't all that patient, but not as pricey as what you'd pay for something from the Stew-Mac catalogueDr Dave-Lfuef
