I must admit to some scepticism sio I only ordered one set, but have since orderd more. These play very well on my Gibson J45. I like the lighter gauge bass strings which give me a good clear tone without straining to fret the string. The relatively heavier treble gauges produce plenty of volume so the sound is more balanced than normal 10 gauge sets.barefootbutch
I bought these to curtail the low frequency boomy sound of a Martin guitar, but found them to be a poor choice as I got them out of the package. They felt porous and slightly unfinished as I was putting them on. After playing a few minutes it became obvious to me that they would tear up my frets and fretboard if I left them on. Overall a good value in playability combined with pricing. As with all D'Addario string sets they come all in one pack and have color coded end balls to tell them apart quickly. I prefer single paper pack PER string, but this is how they save money in packaging. So, not very convenient but saves money for them and us. Really nice set of strings. Good tone and nice feel to the fingers. I will probably use them on all my acoustic guitars except those I play bottleneck on. These flatpick well and fingerpick nicely, very easy on the flesh of both hands. They have only been on for a week so I don't know about durability and how long the tone will sound like new. There is another brand that the Gypsy guitarists use. I haven't tried them and they do cost a little more than the D'Addario. After I get a set of the other brand I will let you know.

I really like these strings. They are warm, and give what I believe to be the best tone on my Stratocaster's and Telecaster. I don't really remember when I first started using Pure Nickel strings (of any brand), but I DO know I have never used anything but Pure Nickel since. The strings got a 4 star rating. I purposely omitted 1 star because, I feel they don't last as long as say a Nickel wound D'Addario would…but then again, I have not found a Pure Nickel D'Addario set of strings. So I forfeit the longevity for the tone. I DID just today order some Fender 150M (medium gauge 11's)…which are also Pure Nickel. I would never order 10 sets of strings if I didn't like them. For years I've played flatwound strings, but when I bought my new Fender American Professional Jaguar I was taken by how lively and expressive the strings were! I left them on. There was a learning curve, with me having to learn a lighter touch, but the more I played them the more I liked them, I went on the Fender website, clicked on the "Chat with us" button, and asked what set came on the Jaguar. A friend of mine bought out a music store so to liquidate he sold me all the strings and drum sticks in stock .. there were mostly Fender strings so I started using them . 20 packs of 9's lasted me well over a year . I have come very close to dropping guitars when the strap "button hole" would become very pliable from years of slipping them on and off the buttons. One tug on the strap the wrong way and it could slip off and I don't move around much while playing. I have used other strap locks in the past but that makes it a "dedicated strap" that can't be used on any other guitar unless it is equipped with the same strap locks. I'm trying these on a Steinberger bass. I reused the screws already in the stock guitar buttons because they were longer than the ones supplied, and they fit through these quite well. So far it seems like a very well thought out yet simple solution. I may be getting another set for my other guitars in the future.pickn4him
After I bought my first set of straplocks about 10 years ago, I thought, "geez, what a lot of hassle for such a minor improvement." THEN, I noted that my bass, already long-scale, no longer fit comfortably in its case. Finally, the extra 1 1/2" that the straplocks added to the overall length of the instrument made the axe somehow less comfortable to wear. This is one of those "why didn't I think of that?" They work perfectly and you can use them with any strap which is a good thing. You have to angle them at right angles to where your strap comes down to your guitar; meaning not necessarily at right angles to the guitar itself. The price is right and I'm glad I got them. The screws are a little short so I used the screws from the original buttons, no biggie. I don't have any guitars that have the jack input at the button. There are nylon string sets and other brands that may fit certain styles of playing or specific player preferences better, but for the price, these Martin hard tension nylon sets are tough to beat. They seem to have pretty good string life and nice tone. I am happier with the wound bass strings than I am the trebles. I do prefer harder tension and some of the more expensive sets that have black or titanium trebles; but again, I come back to the Martins time and time again for the balance of good quality, for a great price. I've started playing Martins on my steel string guitars as well for similar reasons.Marshall
These are a great replacement for classical or nylon string folk guitars. Perhaps not quite as bright and sweet as say Fender Bullet nylon strings, but a much better value for money, longer lasting and resilient guitar string, not prone to breaking. Which is an incredible sound. Complicated chord voicings ring through with clarity (overdrive). I was immediately reminded of Ty Tabor's beautiful 'wall of tone' sound, filling a wide spectrum with rich, tight timbres. Users of short scale guitars– tired of the low E string flapping around like a rubber band and rattling all over the place? Try these strings. The low E is much thinner than most sets but doesn't lose any beef (IMHO).I'm not old, I'm Vintage.
These strings are awesome, not because of Jimi or the Voodoo thing but because for many years Fender stopped making this gauge. They were called 150 silver bullets back then and were my string of choice that became unavailable. Old sets were usually lightly corroded and unusable. Fender fixed that by finally corrosion proofing the packaging. I've been on the lookout for some thicker 12-string sets (not for down-tuning, but just so the thing puts up a bit more fight), and they're getting hard to find (most companies max out at .10's). So I was glad to stumble across these, and the price point seemed right; however, while bringing them up to tension and making requisite truss-rod adjustments, two of the new strings [high A .22w and high G .10] popped, leaving me to go shopping the next day for individual strings. Ernie Ball has long been my go-to for electric strings, and I can't say this experience rules them out for me, but I was disappointed. Will definitely be trying Martin strings the next time my 12 needs changing, as they offer even thicker strings and come recommended from several friends I've talked to since. On a final note, if you haven't tried using sets where the high A is wrapped, I'd recommend you do so; the high A has always been one of the main sources of 12-string tuning frustrations in my experience (if it sounds in tune open, it sounds off when fretted & vice versa), and having it wrapped seemed to clear a lot of that up.czdolphy

What can I say about the Ernie Ball acoustic guitar string set? Ernie Ball makes great strings I've been using them for years mostly on electrics. The string breakage is little or nothing. I don't know, the only guitar strings I've ever owned that lasted and lasted and lasted were those very expensive Optima gold strings. But with those strings I worry about breaking them. so a nice little set of strings like the Ernie Ball acoustics do just fine. I've been playing guitar since 1969, and have used countless brands and varieties of acoustic guitar strings. My first go around with Earthwood strings was less than impressive, as I had the ball end fall off of the high E as I was removing it from the package. This put me off Earthwoods for a while, but when I came across an inexpensive project guitar a while back the only acoustic strings available to me at the time were Earthwoods. I bought that set out of necessity and strung the guitar up. I love the gauge of this set since it's only slightly heavier than the sets I've been using on my electrics for years and very comfortable to play, while not sacrificing much in the bottom end of the tone. I was thoroughly impressed with these strings to the point that they're now my go to acoustic strings. Naturally every guitar is going to sound slightly different and every player will have different taste in the way a set feels and sounds to them, but these are my favorite right now.
