Anyone who has ever played any Guitar Hero title for an extended period of time will invariably come across a song that completely owns them. I'm not talking about a Pat Benatar number, or something from the Killers or Nirvana. They're easy. No, the song that will have you staring in fear at a wall of notes while your rock meter goes into the red faster than ACC will almost certainly be metal, and extremely heavy at that. The reason you never got past hard on Guitar Hero III was because of Slayer, not Santana. Overjoyed as we were with the news last year that Metallica would not only contribute a bunch of their songs for a band-exclusive Guitar Hero title, we were far more interested to see just how developers Neversoft would deal with the difficulty level. World Tour and Aerosmith were noticeably easier than Guitar Hero III, the former going as far as to require much more accurate tracking for hammer-ons and pull-offs, the latter – well, Aerosmith could be described in a lot of ways, but "brutally hard" would not be one of them. Before we get to what it's like to play, it's worth noting just how inclusive this title is when it comes to Metallica lore. The band members were involved in every step of the development, with James Hetfield personally laying down the basic idea for the Career Mode storyline. This is based on a group of fans who followed Metallica around on tour in the early 1990's. It's important to realise that career progression is not done in chorological order like Aerosmith – Metallica vetoed that suggestion, and it's just as well. Imagine starting your career mode off with Motorbreath, or Pulling Teeth; you'd need carpal tunnel surgery before the second set. Speaking of which, you'll no longer have to play gigs to progress, Metallica harks back to the original Guitar Hero set lists style, each requiring you to not only pass songs, but achieve a certain number of stars to progress. There's also no need to perform endless early songs to get to the later stuff, as in Quickplay mode, all set list songs are unlocked by default. We've compiled a list of all the current known songs in this release on page two of this article. There's a good selection of not only Metallica classics, but songs from artists that have inspired Metallica, and those they've either performed with, or produced covers of. Some of the more notable include Bob Seger ("Turn the Page" was covered by Metallica on their 1998 Garage Inc. album), Lynyrd Skynyrd (the first album James Hetfield bought was from Lynyrd Skynyrd, paid for with his lawnmower money) and Motorhead. Motorhead is a recurring theme in Guitar Hero: Metallica, as not only is the Motorhead anthem "The Ace of Spaces" included, frontman, bassist and all-round legend Lemmy features as a playable character. Where Aerosmith dabbled in video featurettes and location-specific gigs to immerse the player, Guitar Hero: Metallica goes way further. Not only will you have access to a comprehensive extras submenu that features unlockable venues, songs, commentary, videos and behind-the-scenes footage, you can also replay completed songs with trivia pop-ups that give information about each track. With guest artist songs, you can learn how each band is tied to Metallica, along with lyrics and history facts. Themed Battle Modes will make an appearance too. We didn't get to sample these, but we've been reliably informed you'll be able to "fade to black" your opponents note track.swordandsparrow

In a game called Guitar Hero Metallica you'd think there'd be well more Metallica songs. Only about half the songs in the game are from Metallica the other from artist "inspired" by Metallica. It's said Metallica hand picked the other artist in this game but who knows. It's just really disappointing the Metallica games in this song be they their greatest hits or just some random ones are really fun to play. It's such a thrill with the music blaring and rocking out with some of your friends to these songs. Even the less famous ones get you going. Say what you will about Metallica but seeing them play live is a thrill. Which in this game you get to be them playing these songs feeling awesome after pulling off some crazy guitar solo or a really hard drum solo. Which is why this game gets so disappointing when you have to play the other songs which have none of the impact that the Metallica songs have. Sadly this is the formula which Guitar Hero follows. They've done it with Guitar Hero Aerosmith with Metallica and most recently Guitar Hero Van Halen. It lessens the experience. Plus most of the other "inspired by" artist songs pale in comparison and cheapen the experience. Hopefully Activision and Neversoft have learned from the dismal sales of Van Halen and Aerosmith and will try to learn from Mtv games and Harmonix success with The Beatles: Rock Band. Every single song is a Beatles song and there are even full albums you can download to add to your collection something none of the previously mentioned guitar hero games have. If you can find Guitar Hero Metallica for about 25 to 30 bucks its definitely worth the price but not for more then that. In the end it hits a great note when playing the Metallica songs then takes a dive when it forces you to play the other songs in career mode.ucnyc21

I am so thankful that I found one at such a cheap price and in this great of a condition. This piece was taken care of as far as dust, rust, wear and tear go. And completeness. It was missing the dongle which did make it a good bit cheaper. Thankfully, I had a copy of the same model. The copy that I had, the dongle worked but not the guitar. Good game with older songs. Not much fun on hard lvls with the sweet songs. Normal mode is do able it reminds me of play Simon says, with some good music and it's own little twist. I would recommend this to players if they doing the same thing over and overchristopher.w

I decided to buy this game because first of all this game was cheap and it game with the guitar which is really amazing and a way better upgrade then the guitar hero 3 guitar. The actual game on the other hand is a different story. The game itself actually has some pretty good songs on the game such as, Crazy Train, B.Y.O.B, Hotel California. It also has a music studio which i must say is pretty pointless unless you want to put your entire life into making something you can listen to. But it is fun to play crazy customs people online make. The graphics are also amazingly good everything is a step up from guitar hero 3 including the full band. The one thing i cannot stand about the game is the charts. Some of the songs are so stupidly charted. Not to mention the annoying purple notes which are supposed to help but indeed mess you up. The slide bar on the guitar was supposed to help but its kind of hard to use when you are in the middle of actually using it then all of a sudden it changes back to regular buttons. Rockband has actually got that part down. The singing on the game is pretty hard to the free form sections in vocals is idiotic. Because you have know idea what to sing and how to sing it. Also another error is you can't get a 100% on the song with vocals, which I have heard they have fixed in future games like Guitar Hero: Metallica, and Guitar Hero: Smash Hits. I have yet to experience the drum set. But i have heard the pads out of the box had problems with it. But this game is an Average to Below Average. I bought the guitar pack also before this. My guitar strum bar doesn't work from that one and the slide bar strums automatically. I bought this set for the drums and guitar, thinking it was just the individual controller's mistake last time. It works fine, but after maybe a half an hour of having it on, the strum bar strums for you in the game. The drums seem to have sensitivity problems, which can be fixed, but is very frustrating. The game is fun, but some songs seem very long and then at the very end, get hard; now, you've wasted about 6 minutes just to fail it. The presentation and songs, in my opinion, are not up to the standard Rock Band 2 set, especially with the abundance of downloadable content which personalizes the game more than fun, yet low quality song creation. The game looks great graphically, but the note track is small and looks less professional. The notes turn all the same color during a star power sequence, and if playing the drums without being used to the set-up, it can be somewhat confusing. I'm not sure about Rock Band 2's controllers compared to these, but my original Rock Band controllers are still functional. Three drums cracked, but hits still register, and the whammy bar is broken, but still can be used. Although the GHWT controllers can be sent in for a replacement, it is much easier just to avoid the game. Overall, the game is fun. Without some of the problems faced, most importantly the lacking hardware, this would be a great game.superunknown9

Warriors of Rock was designed to return to the series' roots (to late), focusing heavily on lead guitar and towards the existing base of skilled players of the series. The game features a remade career mode called "Quest" set to a story influenced by heavy metal and narrated by Gene Simmons. Part of the story is influenced by the lyrics of the song "2112" by Rush, who narrate this portion of the game, while the finale is set to a new song performed by Megadeth and written by Dave Mustaine specifically to challenge Guitar Hero players. The game features 93 songs on disc, and compatibility with existing exportable songs and downloadable content from several previous games in the Guitar Hero series. Highlights the "2112" segment and the game's improved Quickplay+ mode, but a lackluster Quest mode's story and the lack of focus within the soundtrack. There was a tear on the box (which I assume happened during the shipping process), but it was packaged well enough that nothing broke. I was surprised when I found a USB adapter inside the guitar. This game is the best guitar hero game ever, and that's including the new one that have out for the XBOX ONE. The graphics is the best of the series (before the XBOX ONE because of course that game is the best since it's just "live people"), the songs are great also. Absolutely loved the first "No More Heroes" game the first time for the Nintendo Wii. Now, I can have pretty much the same game for the Nintendo Switch. Love it. A trend you're probably seeing with bad reviews would be people complaining that it was too short or easy. I do have to admit, it's easier than any of of the Guitar Hero games or the other Rock Band games. I rented it and it took me less than three hours to beat story mode on hard while getting five stars on all the songs. Sure, they could have added some more songs but I just don't care. The game was just so good that it doesn't really matter to me. Plus, I think the fact that the difficulty level will make this more accessible to a lot more people. Another thing I've seen a few complaints about are the graphics. Seriously? I mean, come on it's no Call of Duty but the graphics are on par with any of these types of games. To be honest I think the visuals are where this game shines. Just look at the outfits, the sets where they play, the instruments, and all the fans. It's all very accurate and I think that's simply awesome. Also, the visual interpretations of the Abby Road sessions were spot on. Now, the audio is great, obviously. Granted, there were a few songs I didn't really like but that's a given for almost anyone. One thing I thought was really cool were some of the small nuances such as the sound bytes in the Abby Road sessions of the actual band members and things like the sound effects of the reel to reel and the audio boards. Very cool. Overall, this was a very fun game to play and I honestly think it was a much better execution than Rock Band 2. There are plenty of songs to choose from for DLC and I that's one thing that will keep people coming back for more. Even if it doesn't take you long to beat it I think there's still a lot of replay value to this game especially of you're a Beatles fan. Think of it this way, you don't listen to a song you like a few times and then never listen to it again do you. I think this game is worth the retail price and is a must for a Beatles fan. I should note that I only played through the guitar portion so the vocals and drums might add quite a bit of difficulty to the game and I personally just bought the kit and can't wait to give them a try.blastmode7

I like the Rock Band Country Track for the playstation 2. The video game is in good shape. This video game is quite expensive so we bought it second handed from Game Stop. It's works just fine for being second handed. This video has 21 Country songs on it. Alot of good songs some of them was hard to play and some of them were easy to play. I was highly anticipating this games after playing the first one. I was definitely not disappointed when I received it in the mail. You play again as Travis Touchdown but this time, instead of just looking to be #1, you're out for revenge. You have to fight your way back to #1 again, but from #51 this time. This sounds long and tedious, but because of certain events in the game, you only end up fighting a small fraction of the # of people you'd think. Mini-games are mostly retro this time around. While this may put off some players, for the ones who grew up in the 8-bit era, it's nice to revel in nostalgia for just a bit. The graphics have improved this time around. Things move more fluidly like they should. It's still cell shaded, though, so don't expect a game that rivals a PS3 or 360 game. This game is also the first time you can play as other characters (I won't spoil who those people are, though. 🙂 ) Free roam has been eliminated from this game, allowing you to quickly jump to the place you want to go via a menu. This majorly cuts down on time spent driving around a virtually empty town going from point A to point B like in the first game. The combat has improved quite a bit over the previous game. With new sword types added to the game, you will actually finding yourself switching out swords in the middle of a fight to better suit your needs, unlike in the first game where you'd never use an older sword because the new ones were better in every way, shape, and form. Boss battles were different and unique, which is always refreshing. The final boss was a complete pill, but other than that, they're challenging, but nothing crazy. All in all, it has a few faults, but things that can be easily overlooked. This game is a must-have for anyone who's a fan of the first game.taekwondogeek

I bought Band Hero to be able to import Guitar Hero 5 & GH Smash Hits into it. For the Wii, Band Hero allows us to do this like other platform users. BH lets more people sing vocals and has Harmonies like Beatles and Green Day Rock Band. I started out with Rock Band 2 and prefer the RB2 instruments and the way the notes are done on RB2. Unfortunately on the Wii RB products do not allow importing of music from other games just DLC. Band Hero lets you import and also lets you buy track packs which is something else you can't do with Rock Band on the Wii. I'm hoping with Rock Band 3 that Wii users will be able to do the things that Band Hero lets you do.blucher28

Ok songs. I knew them. Some sounded off or more hollow (Taylor Swift songs). Some don't sound the the artist ("I Want You to Want Me"). Guitar playing is different than Rock Band as note playing isn't as intuitive or with the music. I got it for a little over $8 with shipping so was great value and we've played more than $8 worth.
