They have gotten expensive over the years (along with everything else) but it's history and reputation speaks for itself. I've had various Boss pedals over the course of 30 years and I have never, ever, not once had one that failed or malfunctioned. I wanted a cheaper alternative but what made me commit to this pedal, once again, was it's true bypass/buffer capabilities. I'm using this one differently than I've customarily have used them in the past. This is to be used in a pedalboard dedicated to an electrified Kalimba (pictured below). I'll be wiring it up soon. Perhaps EQ is not the most exciting of pedals compared to other effects, but this really does make an enormous difference to your sound and help you get the best from the rest of your gear. Boost the mids to stand out from bass. Scoop the mids and boost bass/treble to sound like Metallica. Use the independent Level control as an overall volume boost (or limit – but who wants that?!) Extremely easy to set up and configure, in Boss's usual bullet-proof format. Highly recommended.Steve M.
Brilliant on-the-spot tone-shaping tool. Opens up virtually infinite sound possibilities, very handy when stacking overdrives with some or a lot of overlap in their tonal voicings. Also great for approximating the tones of completely different styles of pickups. Small adjustments tend to work best, a subtle nudge of the slider in the problematic frequency band is often all you need. Equally, you can throw that out and morph the tonal profile to something incredibly different. After my tuner it's hands-down the most indispensable pedal on my board. Allows me to shape the one tone control on the Pro Junior IV into even more harmonic/percussive/airy/creamy/bell-like territory. After long research and a round of tips from pros, I decided an EQ could help me refining the tones and finding the "sweet spot" for my rig. This unit has several advantages over the alternatives, mostly the number of frequency sliders and the 4 slot memory (+ the manual, which allows for 5 EQ setups to be reached quickly). The main use I will initially have for it includes: tweaking the sound of humbuckers (to single coilish) an P90s. To play around, basically… As a booster, with a memory patch adjusted for that purpose. Lastly, it is not exclusive for guitar, as the the spectrum includes lower and higher cuts. So it is a good tool for recording other instruments as bass or piano, and I reckon It could be handy to experiment with voice recording as well.

Bought this equalizer as an experiment to use between my behringer mini mixer and powered monitors. Monitors have no tone control, just volume and sounded a bit harsh in the mid frequencies. Was able to dial in a nice warm tone using this equalizer. No noise. No rack mounted eq to haul around. It was a win win. Perfect for sweetening up a small PA system. Will also use at some point on guitar and electric piano. Although the case is plastic and not metal, the device seems fairly solidly constructed. Have been using with a 9v battery with no issues. I've been playing guitar for several decades, mostly acoustic. I purchased this several weeks ago to add tone shaping through the effects loop of an Orange Micro Dark at home. The equalizer has been great for this application. The 7 sliders provide a near infinite amount of adjustment, allowing you to experiment and fine tune your tone. In addition, it is extremely quiet. The pedal feels heavy enough, but is made of (seemingly tough) plastic. The sliders are effective but I'm not convinced of their ruggedness through live gigs. This is my first Behringer product so have no first hand experience with long term reliability. I am very happy with this equalizer and for the price wonder why I hadn't added it long ago – it really is much more effective than few tone control knobs.C-ville Brent
This is a nice EQ pedal. It worked just fine and was 100% functional when I bought it new. The pedal is relatively quiet when pushing the front end of my Carvin low-gain amp. In the front of my Marshall however it was a little too noisy. The EQ parameters were quite usable and did a nice job shaping my tone. The gain function was less usable, again because of the added noise (hiss). This noise was apparent using the battery or a 9v adapter. The quality of the pedal is fine, but its 100% made of plastic. I had no usability problems with it, but you should be aware that it is in fact all plastic. Overall its worth 4 stars because for $25 its a great deal. However I spent a little more on a used MXR 10-band w a 18 volt power supply that is much more quiet when pushing my Marshall. If you want some EQ shaping and don't want to drop a lot of money, this pedal is probably your best bet. I bought this used through Guitar Center to boost the output of my Eastman 815 acoustic-electric mandolin, which has an internal microphone but was too quiet. I'm a hobbyist but play in worship settings. I was able to EQ the output to sound like the natural mandolin tone and to boost the volume which was important to me, since, on occasion, I play outdoors or in a large church sanctuary. The tuner is a great asset, making clip-on tuners unnecessary. The tone boost gives the mandolin even more volume for those times when you want to play a solo. The unit runs on a 9V battery or a 9v DC adapter. I happened to own already own a 9v DC adapter, and it gave the unit much more power than the battery, which was great. I definitely recommend getting a 9v DC adapter. This was a good buy!Jamie
From the very first moment I plugged in both my Martin D42 guitar with it's Fishman pickup and my five string Stelling Banjo with the KAVANJO pickup system to their respective LR baggs Venue DI preamp's a smile lit up on my face. The sound, the controlled sound, the natural sound that came out of each device was absolutely wonderful. I would have to say that my banjo sounded incredibly smooth… And the guitar tone was the best I've ever gotten from my Martin D 42. It was a pleasure to listen as a strummed or finger picked each instrument. And you could tell that the audience was listening intently… There was no distortion whatsoever. And I've really just started using the device, and haven't fully dialed in the potential. I'd also read a lot about the tuner not being accurate… Well I have two Petersen tuners… Clamp-ons … one on each instrument and I double checked it with the baggs built-in tuner… And so far it has been spot on. The boost switch is fantastic and the mute couldn't be better. I am completely satisfied and delighted that I purchased one LR Baggs Venue DI for each instrument.
I've got 2 LR Baggs Para DI's and have been wanting to try out the Venue DI. I have a Taylor 814 V Deluxe, Taylor 614 and a Taylor 354. I always bring at least one of the 6 strings and the 12 string when I play. All 3 guitars have different tonal qualities, so I wanted separate DI's with EQing abilities for each. The Paras do very well, but I found the Venue to be quicker to dial in a great acoustic tone and it sounds more transparent to me. I love the boost function too!!! Very well built! Like others who have reviewed, the tuner is slow to respond at times and phantom power would have been nice – otherwise this is a 5-plus stars.

I bought this back In 2018, hoping to boost my output tones. I have a Roland electric kit that I run through our PA. The difference is night and day. I don't have to raise the drums main volume or the PA's input level as much to achieve the full sounding drum tones I met get. My bassist even bought one for his rig and has been extremely happy with his pedal as well. It's worth every penny. My only minor complaint is the placement of the AC power input. It's directly alongside the cable input. It's a little crowded there. Placing it top center on back side would be a better location especially if using it in a pedal board. Otherwise, I'd have given it 5 stars.
This pedal is alright. I use it sidechained into my compressor so I can't really comment on the tone. But it is pretty flimsy. I can see it eventually breaking in some way or another. I wish they had maybe used a metal casing instead of plastic. Also there should have been some detents put into the sliders. But for the price I guess I can't complain too much. The results were surprisingly good, after using some acoustic guitars as my samples and then using a cheap single coil guitar to recreate them. It even captured a passable sitar sound. I'm going to build up a good selection of various guitar samples for future use. You can certainly change between generic guitar sounds easily. A start will not sound exactly like a les paul but certainly gets in the ball park and captured tone can be tweaked with the excellent tone controls before saving. Het capturen van een Les Paul met als target een Strat is wel oké. Je krijgt een veel zwaarder geluid dan met de standaard-Fender. Maar de sustain komt niet in de buurt van die van een echte Les Paul. Een Lucille-capture is al veel beter. Met een elektrische gitaar een akoestische capturen is gewoon niet oké. I bought this back In 2018, hoping to boost my output tones. I have a Roland electric kit that I run through our PA. The difference is night and day. I don't have to raise the drums main volume or the PA's input level as much to achieve the full sounding drum tones I met get. My bassist even bought one for his rig and has been extremely happy with his pedal as well. It's worth every penny. My only minor complaint is the placement of the AC power input. It's directly alongside the cable input. It's a little crowded there. Placing it top center on back side would be a better location especially if using it in a pedal board. Otherwise, I'd have given it 5 stars.
This pedal is alright. I use it sidechained into my compressor so I can't really comment on the tone. But it is pretty flimsy. I can see it eventually breaking in some way or another. I wish they had maybe used a metal casing instead of plastic. Also there should have been some detents put into the sliders. But for the price I guess I can't complain too much. If you want that classic Mark series amplifier sound on a budget this is your best bet. Has hi and lo gain channels or modes, yet even the hi gain doesn't really sound all that gainy unless you have some really high output pickups to push the circuits with, like EMG 81s or Duncan Blackouts, so I might get a Duncan pickup booster pedal in future, seeing as I've grown more partial to passive pickups as of late. Another problem is the battery compartment screws must have been torque tightened or something because they will NOT budge an iota. Not sure how I'm ever gonna get the battery out of it. Overall, fantastic tone and features with only the moderate gain of the "hi" mode and the impossible to access battery compartment to complain about.beeryswine

They have gotten expensive over the years (along with everything else) but it's history and reputation speaks for itself. I've had various Boss pedals over the course of 30 years and I have never, ever, not once had one that failed or malfunctioned. I wanted a cheaper alternative but what made me commit to this pedal, once again, was it's true bypass/buffer capabilities. I'm using this one differently than I've customarily have used them in the past. This is to be used in a pedalboard dedicated to an electrified Kalimba (pictured below). I'll be wiring it up soon. Perhaps EQ is not the most exciting of pedals compared to other effects, but this really does make an enormous difference to your sound and help you get the best from the rest of your gear. Boost the mids to stand out from bass. Scoop the mids and boost bass/treble to sound like Metallica. Use the independent Level control as an overall volume boost (or limit – but who wants that?!) Brilliant on-the-spot tone-shaping tool. Opens up virtually infinite sound possibilities, very handy when stacking overdrives with some or a lot of overlap in their tonal voicings. Also great for approximating the tones of completely different styles of pickups. Small adjustments tend to work best, a subtle nudge of the slider in the problematic frequency band is often all you need. Equally, you can throw that out and morph the tonal profile to something incredibly different. After my tuner it's hands-down the most indispensable pedal on my board. Allows me to shape the one tone control on the Pro Junior IV into even more harmonic/percussive/airy/creamy/bell-like territory. Been guitaring more or less 20 years now and i could probably count on one hand the amount of reviews I've been compelled to write, if that's an indicator of how game-changing the GE-7 has been to the fundamental way in which i dial in a tone.Mark

Sounds great. Also surprising versatility with the HP/LP settings. One criticism is that its very loud. Slotting in after 2 boosts and an OD, then before a fuzz has played havoc with my gain structure as, with those other pedals operating within normal vol ranges, I've found the volume on the OCD needs to be most of the way down when using drive greater than 12-o-clock which is even more noticeable on the HP setting. Btw, that's into a highish headroom amp so if you were using the OCD to further drive an already breaking up amp into much more compression then probably not that great an issueReviewed by Andertons Music Co.
I needed something to stack along side of my TS that did not overpower the sound of the other pedal or sound too thick on its own. This pedal sounds fantastic with single coil pickups and pairs extremely well with other OD pedals. I like the fact it can run on either battery, 9V, or 18V AC connections, making this a great choice if you have limited ports on your power supply. On its own, it stands out very well when dialing up the drive settings and it sounds absolutely great coming through a properly dimed tube amplifier. It is no coincidence you see these pedals on the boards of many great professional players… This box just has excellent tone and all their products are handmade in the USA with plenty of care involved–making them a quality purchase. I am looking at collecting a couple of other earlier versions as some have tonal differences that work better with other set ups. Overall very satisfied with this purchase.built_for_speed
I've owned the Fulltone OCD for just over a week now and I can confidently say it's the best overdrive effects pedal I've ever had the pleasure of using. It has a sturdy build, it's versatile, it retains the original tone and colour of your guitar/amp combo and it's LOUD! I wanted a pedal that would fit compliment my '65 Twin Reverb Reissue amp and Telecaster, I love the tone of my setup but I really needed some bite in the shape of a good overdrive. After doing some research and seeing the name Fulltone OCD pop up again and again I started to get very curious about this pedal, the clincher was when I saw it on the pedal board of a guitarist on youtube who was showing off some of my favourite licks! The high pass and low pass filters make this pedal useful for tuning the bass guitar cabinet to the rooms acoustics. Rolling out the frequencies below 30-40 hz solve the boom/definition issues I was having when being recorded in live streams and when playing in either churches or synagogs. I find the eq useful in tailoring a consistent sound across different amps. Its not always needed but for the circumstances listed above it almost essential.Manny

After long research and a round of tips from pros, I decided an EQ could help me refining the tones and finding the "sweet spot" for my rig. This unit has several advantages over the alternatives, mostly the number of frequency sliders and the 4 slot memory (+ the manual, which allows for 5 EQ setups to be reached quickly). It responds perfectly, to every slight change. The LCD screen shows the curve interactively, which is very helpful for the configuration. The main use I will initially have for it includes: tweaking the sound of humbuckers (to single coilish) an P90s. To play around, basically… As a booster, with a memory patch adjusted for that purpose. Lastly, it is not exclusive for guitar, as the the spectrum includes lower and higher cuts. So it is a good tool for recording other instruments as bass or piano, and I reckon It could be handy to experiment with voice recording as well.

I've had mine now for the better part of a year, countless rehearsals and a growing list of gigs. It does everything all the previous reviews have already documented. But I'll add something not yet mentioned… mine was producing very noticeably weird two tone sounds when I had it plugged into the power supply box on my pedalboard, I've heard they draw a lot of power so I instead routed with a Trutone 1 Spot AC adapter to the AC power strip also affixed to my board (see photo) and that seems to have resolved the problem. Hope this helps anyone having that same issue. I like this pedal a lot… it is a very useful tool to have, from practicing and learning songs, to rehearsals and gigs too.
Preface, I use this with an acoustic violin fitted with a BTS pickup (dual piezos/string), OR with a Greek steel stringed laouto to immediately change from standard tuning to a 5th lower (Cretan, Southern Aegean tuning). Pros – This is a mentality saver. You can be a fantastic musician, able to transpose well, yet regardless of the instrument you are using, and still get a little tripped up when you need to switch course and play in some oddball key. Voila! Drop! I learned about this pedal from a class A1 violin player from Greece (composer, lyricist and recording artist who has recorded with just about every big name- this person is no joke, message me for his name if interested). This person can transpose to any weird key you throw at him, why use it? His response? "Because when I'm on stage and I need to switch quickly to an odd key, I can simply hit the button and not have to think about it". So I gave it a try, and have been using it for 2 years now… it's a life saver. I'm just a fiddler, but this saves me from stressing out and I can play free and it sounds GREAT. It tracks so well I can't tell if there is any latency at all. Cons- With my current setup, I find that I need to either play in front of a monitor or near a speaker or use IEM's, as when playing through the pedal with an acoustic instrument, obviously you are going to hear the natural AND the modified sounds and you ARE going to think it sounds like garbage, then attempt to junk it. DONT DO IT! Unless your pedal is defective, your sound from the speakers is clean. This pedal is meant to be used with mainly electric instruments. During sound check, as loud as you can be, you'll still hear the acoustic sound of your instrument, yet once you are playing with the full band (depending on what your band consists of), it will eventually drown out the sound, and you'll be able to focus on your modified tone, but this is not consistent. Just be aware. If you can, I suggest using some sort of IEM system, wired or wireless, or a monitor. My next step is getting an electric violin body to use this tool even more effectively, but moreso in order to truly utilize my pickup. In a nutshell: Do it!pazarinyc
Sound: Unbelievable how well this pedal track's notes and cords with no noticable latency, IMO it sounds better than tuning down. Features: It's a tank ! Sturdy , Solid , Heavy for it's size , no instructions needed , plug and play Ease of Use: This is simple , Standard tuned guitar , twist the knob to earth shaking low's. Quality: As mentioned , it's a tank , solid construction. Value: I hesitated on this purchase because of the price for a one trick pedal , Worth every penny ! Manufacturer Support: I have several DigiTech products , I still have the old RP-1 and it function's like new , I have no doubt this pedal will give me many year's of service.
