Overall: If you are looking to add volume and low end to your 10 inch combo or cabinet, look no further, this is it. The sound is pretty good for either clean or distorted sounds. It may not have the "magic" of some high end Celestions, but it sounds MUCH better than most stock speakers that come in mid to low priced amps and cabinets. In my opinion the best thing about this speaker is that this is the only speaker out there that makes a 10 inch combo sound like a 12 inch combo. (and it really does) I had put this speaker in a Laney Cub 10 and had it sitting on top of a 4X12 cabinet that I keep at my friend's practice space/ home studio. He walked in while I was playing and thought that I had it connected to the 4X12,.. no joke.Lawrence

This 10” speaker is what every speaker should sound like. Tight low end, mids are just right and the high end is smooth. Now I put this in a fender frontman 25R. Yes it’s solid state, but this speaker made it a great practice amp. I would use this at a small gig that’s how much I think this speaker made this amp beyond usable now. I hated the bright tone of my VHT special 6 until I found this speaker and installed it. Now it has a warmer more vintage tone.. like a tube amp is supposed to sound! Excellent replacement speaker for a tube amp!!homesteadhound

Holy smoke! I hear 'ya loud and clear, Electric Lightning 10"s! I stuck a pair in my Fender Custom Vibrolux (basically a hot-rodded '63 Vibroverb) which I have rebuilt to 1963 Vibroverb specs. Very true-sounding speakers. Extremely efficient, hardly any cone breakup, and super-tight with a very balanced EQ spectrum. They added significant weight to my amp compared to the stock Eminence AlNiCo speakers, but I'm glad I made the switch!Michael

Just replaced a mix matched set with a quartet of 10" Electric Lightnings in a Super Reverb. While they sounded tight at first, over several days they broke in like gold, both super clean or heavily preamped. The bass response is more round than ever, and with none of the mushiness I have associated many 10" designs. I'm able to run more low than ever and the low E string just sounds fantastic. They are stong/robust sounding, akin to the tone of 12" speakers. The highs really mellowed out and sing like I had hoped Overall the sound is simply huge, clear, and articulate at any volume. I would think any player will see benefits regardless of musical style. Great improvement and speaker!Brad

This is great for cabinets with four or more speakers. With 32 ohms wiring four in parallel bring it to a eight ohm load. Just do not use a keyboard dropped below rated feq. of about 57hz. This speakers can handle high spl's.Waldens Audio - 31934

Perfect replacement speaker for my classic 1975 Ampeg SVT 8×10 cabinet. Same size, same weight and better baffle than original (none) as it's front loaded. Works sweet for my wall of sound.MarkB

Built a new Tweed Cabinet for my Epiphone Valve Junior, and changed out the 8" to a 10" Celestion. Much more range, obviously, but a little less power as the 5 watt amp is pushing more coil. I would have gotten an Alnico 10 with lower wattage, but the prices on those are out of the park for me. With the new Celestion, however, the amp handles pedals much better. As the new speaker breaks in, this will only improve.Mark O Matic

Received my new speaker, first allowed it to get warm temperature wise. Shipping in North Dakota can get items a little cold. Then installed, and even before this speaker has had time to be properly broken in. It instantly brought a new life to a fairly new amp. A Peavey VYPYR VIP-1. The Peavey original speaker was just an eight inch speaker. I can only believe that as the new speaker is slowly broken in. The quality will continue to be rich, and a full range of tones. I even ran some bass notes thru it. There was a great improvement here too. The over all quality of a small home amp, has been greatly improved.rh_493

Very happy with this choice for my First DIY amp, which is currently a 5W FootNote plate, a pine bee box, 3-ply poplar shelving front. This speaker sounds a lot better than I expected for the price. Comparing with the PEAVY VYPRR VIP1 modeling amp next to it, (also parts express) the clean tone is amazing.. like – the other amp is abandoned until I need fuzz again. I was startled by how detailed, musical, and dynamic it sounded direct from the guitar. Next time I get a chance to build a higher power amp, I'll check out some other celestions. Yep, it sounds better and adds greater volume. Not a life changing event that some of the other reviews claim. Still, it is better to have upgraded from the original speaker. I have a 15" Eminence Legend that I'll drop into a cabinet tonight to see if it can add even more life to the SCXD (Super Champ XD). Glad to put aside the stock Fender speaker. It was weak with not much personality. I read alot about the Rajun'Cajun version but I like to be different so I went with the report of the Patriot's vintage american sound. My custom Tele (Fralin/Adder pickups) sounds fresh, loud and sweet through the clean channel. The modeling channel and effects have come alive with the swap. The overdriven effects are evil. A friend plays out with a Strat through a Blues Jr. and I have always enjoyed hearing that combo. The Copperhead/Superchamp brings out that quality sound.Anonymous

This speaker is light and gives a clear and punchy sound to the old Roland Spirit 25A. I bought two, so I might drop the other one into a Princeton Reverb.Rick

biasing adjustments are needed for the valves (6v6S) yet , but the speaker is perfect. Sounds great with the Fender 15 watt Super Champ X2 Head I am employing the speaker to. The Jensen MOD series really helps Fender amps no matter what models you have . Has a low end thump but it isn't that bad after adjusting the bass control. I need to adjust the biasing so I can get the most out of the speaker . It breaks up in a classic Tyler you would expect with a Jensen , fender match up the sound is beautiful so that it articulates the instrument. Helps with sustain, and the sustain goes on for a long period. If you want a great sounding speaker at a great price the Mod series gives you that, especially in Fender amps I can't say how much I really love them , this is my second Mod speaker purchase and I have not been let down by them yet.mpc1968

I like the punchy lows, even mids and high's. I do not find this speaker muddy, I play a Gretsch 5422 hollow body and the lows stay together very nice. mids and highs will not part your hair.GUITAR 6

Sounds good for a clean channel pushed by an epiphone valve jr. 5 watt head. Beautiful overdrive tones but it can't handle heavy bass alone or heavy distortion. So plan on buying two of them. I play one with the valve jr and I can keep up with a line 6 lowdown 1×12 150 watt bass amp turned up to 1 o'clock. I plan to buy anothersunburst jackson

I've been through many, many 12s for Blackface style speakers. These are my faves. For good 60s tones in country and rock with a BF amp these guys work great. Take pedals well. Not shrill or muddy in my experience. Solid surfy bass. Smooth treble. 120 watts which is triple what I would ever throw at em. For a Deluxe or a Pro in a honkytonk bar, these are just the ticket.edol9871

For me the tones of these are somewhere in between American and British. I use these mainly in a 2×10 cab for a fender vibroverb style amp. Vs the Oxford speakers these have a lil more mid focus and rounded highs that work much better with higher gain tones. I also use these with my Marshall origin 50 set relatively clean to get a slightly bigger bottom end than V30s.RockinJohnson

I bought this speaker in the 16ohm version to replace a v30 in my orange ppc1x12. I love the v30 but I mainly use a 100w Marshall DSL100HR and the v30 by itself couldn't handle all that wattage since it's only 60watts. So I decided to go with the swamp thang cause a little more defined low end sounded like a good idea as I play a 7 string ltd (fishman fluence pups) half the time. But I was worried I would loose the highs that we need for attack in high gain situations as well as playing clean which I do very often also. But now that I've played tgrough this speaker I can say that is not a problem whatsoever. This speaker has twice the highs and twice the lows as my v30. Probably a little less midrange but since it's such a powerful speaker it doesn't feel like it's relying on mids the cut through. Full disclosure I've only had the speaker a few hours and played through it a little over an hour but if it sounds this good outta the box I'm confident things will only get better. It's a great sounding speaker in my opinion that would complement any style/set up. I plan on buying an empty Luke 2x12C cab from seismic audio soon so i can pair the ST and the v30 which im lookong forward to. But in the meantime im in no huge hurry since the ST sounds so good by itself.Michael I.

Sound: Sound I great, i use them i a 5 piece rock/cover band. They sound fantastic! Features: EV did a great job umproving these with a bigger amp. Been using them for nearly 6 months and we havent made them limit yet! Ease of Use: Super easy, basically plug and play. You can controll them with the EV app to. This would be great for a DJ or someone using these without a mixing board. Quality: These seem very reliable so far. Its EV so you know its quality. However, on one of the cabinet's I recieved, the LED light on the front of the speaker didn't work. Not a huge deal, but I sent it back and zZounds sent me a new on in just a couple days! Value: I think its a great value. Nice to know that my speakers won't clip or get to hot. I know $599 is a lot of money, but these are worth it, and with 12 months to pay its not that bad! Manufacturer Support: They were great. The LED on one of the cabs didnt work. They were more than happy to take care of it, but zZounds just replaced it for me. Almost hassle free! The Wow Factor: They look as great as they sound! Also, they are pretty light to! I can easily grab 2 at once and carry them into the club. Overall: I run sound for my rock cover band. I upgraded to these from the ZLX. I am so glad I did! If you are wondering if they are loud enough or if they are louder than the zlx, the answer is yes. However, not a ton louder. What is great though is that at high volumes the dont clip, like ever. I have been using these for almost 6 months now and I havent made them limit once, compared to my Zlx that limited every show a lot. The sound quality at high volume it great also, the highs are nice and crisp but it still has pretty good low end for a 12 inch speaker (I use a sub with mine). I honestly dont have any complaints about them right now. I think they are a high quality EV product and will last a long time.Erik

I had some old speakers from a bar. They needed to be reconed. For about the same cost as a reconing kit, I purchased two Celestion Pulse speakers. Unlike the bar speakers, these are intended for bass guitar. I put together a Baltic Birch speaker box and mounted them. So far they work. Little undue resonance. Good heavy magnets on these speakers.Daniel

I had been looking at a new tube amp and had a couple different amps in mind. My local GC is rather small but on a recent trip to the Chicago area I stumbled across one of these in the wild. I played it for about 15 minutes and new I had to buy it. It sounds incredible. I really like how simple the clean channel is with just a volume control, but allows the true sound of the guitar to shine through. It loves single coils and has really nice breakup at higher volumes. The dirty channels exactly that but you can get everything from creamy overdrive to crunchy distortion. Even at the lower watt settings you have plenty of headroom. I'm a big fan of the twin 10in speakers and the tube buffered effects loop is a great addition. My only wish is that it would come with a foot pedal. Regardless, I could not be happier with this amp.Evan P

Using this amp primarily with a PRS McCarty 594 and it continues to amaze me more the longer I own with it… the natural channel is clear, bright and balanced. I can easily dial the overdrive to the distortion needed to cover Deep Purple, AC/DC stuff and dial it down for classic softer stuff like Allman Bros and. Fleetwood Mac. Haven't even begun to see everything that could be done with the effects loop… wah and delay pedals sound fantastic… very full with the double voice of the world stereo speakers. Both channels are plenty loud for gigging in smaller venues… even with drums. Effects loop in/out could be more accessible as they are tucked up inside the back… just a minor issue though. This amp is beefy, feels like it could take a beating . Weight is not bad considering it's a combo and I haven't had any trouble carrying it up and down stairs when I take it out. Very happy with this amp…. I feel like it's one of the best combos out there right now.John

Just picked this up new. I was swapping back an evh 5150 head and prs stealth 212 cab (god that thing was sweet), because it didn't take my helix line 6 very well in the 4 cable method. I was trying out a mesa solo rectifier 112 combo, a vox AC 30 and this amp. The cleans of an AC30 are my favorite of the three, and the mesa certainly had more chunk on the distortion channel than the other two (although that evh through the prs cab was simply another world better than any of these three amps). The rocker 32 however had a pretty nice clean sound, if inflexible (no tone control at all), and about as much drive as an or15(one of my favorite amps). You can get some serviceable metal tones, although I'm sure a speaker upgrade might do wonders for the tone of the amp. It's just extremely versatile and flexible, I prefer to get my gain from my amp, then maybe throw an 808 in front of the amp, I'm not a huge fan of distortion pedals. NOW onto why this amp was such a must have. This amp will make your effects sound studio quality. No more worrying about mixing in your effects loop or a dropoff in volume. Your delays will sound utterly pristine, without and kinda gunk added on in the fx loop. it will simply bring your effects to life, and the stereo effect really can add quite element to your live playing. The speakers need to be upgraded, but at a pricepoint of 1100, they had to cut corners somewhere on a 30 watt 2×10 amp. This might not be your go to amp for tone when recording, or an absolute thumper for live metal shows, but if you're an effect junkie, this is a loud enough, versatile enough amp that is a must have for you. Dropped this bad boy in my 1977 Peavey Backstage 30 and have started out playing clean and let me say the clean tone of this old amp has TONS OF GLASS AND SPARKLE. High Gain Is starting to sound Great tooAaron K.

Just got the speaker today and normally I wait to write a review, but the improvement this speaker made in my 1976 SF Champ is simply awesome. First, it was super easy to install. Took me all of 15 minutes. The speaker holes lined up perfectly with the lugs coming out of the amp's baffle and the speaker's cable contacts were in exactly the same place as the original. Like it was made specifically for a Champ. The speaker looked very well made, with a nice cone, solid housing and the magnet on this speaker is huge compared to the stock speaker. My ratchet handle got stuck on it as I was installing it. Took some force to free it. Then came the test drive, with the amp volume set to 4. Wow. I used my 1987 Gibson LP Standard with Seymour Duncan SH-59's. I was immediately struck by the fullness across the tonal spectrum. Chimey treble with harshness removed, beautiful full midrange and tight and powerful bass without the flub and muddiness I had before. The guitar just rang and sang. Then I dimed the amp and the natural overdrive was impressive. So much better than the original speaker. No harsh high end anymore, great tight bass and a pleasant roar that makes you want to hit power chords all day. Solo notes were clear and distinct. Plus, the speaker cleaned up great when turning the guitar volume control down; sounding just like it did on lower amp volume levels. And I still have to break this puppy in and try it with my pedalboard!! This is the absolute best thing you can do for your SF Champ if it still has the stock speaker in it. Looking for a 12 inch speaker to go with a custom-made skylark GA-5 amp head. Not having a ton of experience with different speakers I decided it was easier just to stick with one company to limit the overwhelming amount of choices. The G12c/s clean and tight low end smooth mid range and perfect top end that isn’t overly bright very articulate very efficient did add a little volume overall wonderful speaker. Thanks to British audio for The excellent customer service and the detailed knowledge of WGS speakers couldn’t have asked for a better shopping experience.Andre

I picked one of these up used. 5 stars. Really like it. It's warm, not ice picky. Handles overdrive nicely without fizzy sounds. It's not what you want if you're into crystaline highs, but it sounds good clean. I much prefer this to the G10C which is quite fizzy with distortion. Also to service – I bought direct from WGS. I got a bad G10C, but they took it back, refunded the price, and shipping both directions. Good service overall. That was my first experience with them. Based on that, I'm comfortable buying again…may pick up a 2nd G10C/s instead of running the mixed pair in a 2×10. I'm trying a couple other brands as well. An eminence legend 10516, and a Weber 10F150. We'll see what I like and what combinations I like. I like the legend by itself, haven't paired it up yet. Haven't received the Weber just yet. I play mostly blues, blues-rock, and classic rock. Hate ice pick highs, and like warmer tones and maybe a little more midrange, but not a lot of crystal highs. I decided to replace the co-axial speaker in an old enclosed keyboard cab and mate it to a Micro Terror for a portable jam rig. Reviews and pricing led me to the Legend 1058. After hitting the first chord, even before break-in, I knew I made the right choice! The tone is articulate and well defined. This speaker handles cleans as well as overdrive with single coils or humbuckers. After break-in it's sounds even better. This is my first experience with Emminence and would not hesitate considering them as replacements in my gig amps.Duff73

Works great in 4×10 Fender Deville Amp and I'm sure the speaker would also be good for Fender Super Reverb or Vibrolux Reverb. Lots of clean headroom and note clarity. This speaker does sound good when pushed into distortion but the clean tones is where it shines.Airtractorfan

I want to thank the previous reviewers for excellent data. This speaker has balanced the tonal output of my Vox ADVT 30 amp and made it reliable to do set ups on my guitars that still sound consistent when I plug in to my Line 6 AX212 performance rig. The overtones are so even it's a pleasure to listen close and makes the crunch very savory when you "dig in". The 75 watt capacity keeps the speaker accurate at higher volumes so the break up is not mush from the cone of the driver. The stock speaker was decent but thinner and more hifi sounding than the meatier sound of this model. Because it has an even top end you get more depth out of the mids and the detail is superb. Very versatile and makes for a very accurate pallette to dial in set ups. I would gig with this in a heartbeat.KD321

I don't play metal and I've noticed that the metal players have a completely different opinion about a lot of gear than I do, so take that for what it's worth. I don't hate metal but that is not the sound I'm going for I replaced the speaker in my Marshall DSL5 and while it was already a great sounding amp the creamback tightened up and rounded out the sound. It won't break up like the stock speaker so the lead channel doesn't sound as fizzy as with the stock speaker. I tend to mostly use the classic channel with pedals but have been enjoying the sound of the amp with the new speaker plugged straight in. The creamback replaced the ten30 that is a pretty common 10" speaker mid tier amps. A speaker upgrade is the most effective amp upgrade you can do yourself, with regards to expense and ease of installation, and I don't think you'd be unhappy with this speaker; not sure how metal players will feel.Bob

Love it. It was a great upgrade to an already great amp. I use my small, yet powerful, amp for small shows, practice and church. It just needed a little more authentic bottom end because I tend to push the amp hard during shows. I did the research prior to my purchase and found that the "pro joes" recommend this speaker for a dynamic, vintage sound.Scott Free

I like this speaker and I put it in my 72 princeton….sounds great and doesn't fart out like the original. Even play my pedal steel through it. Great speaker for the price. I have the 12" in my Mesa Lonestarr….rmishler2010
