I'm a metal guy at heart, so when I finally put the Metal Zone away and started building a grownup pedal board, a Tube Screamer was high on my list. I was particularly interested in this unit because of the size, since my beginner board probably isn't going to be very big. I plugged this little guy into my regular setup and was immediately blown away. If you've played some metal you know the setup: straight into a high gain amp, drive at 0, level at 10, and tone dialed in to taste. It made my Orange Micro Dark Terror, digital Bias FX rig, and even my sad old Marshall solid state roar, but in a much more defined way that never felt flabby or uncontrollable. I would recommend pairing it with a decent noise gate to trim down the hum, but that's just what electric guitars do when you crank the gain, and not a flaw of this pedal in particular. Okay, sure, it can do metal. I've also run this unit through a bunch of other setups and contexts. Through my Orange I definitely got very usable blues and classic rock tones by pulling the gain and volume back on the amp, and setting everything on the pedal around half way. I can even see potentially using it with the drive all the way up as a lead boost or to slightly break up a clean tone. This little thing is a beast for sure, and is pretty much perfect for my uses. It's not a transform your amp kind of effect, it's meant to compliment what your existing equipment already does. It has some specific things it does well, and it *really* nails them. #sweepstakesDan
Stop what you're doing right now. RIGHT NOW, and get this pedal. This tiny little monster sounds incredible and I am kicking myself for not trying any kind of Tube Screamer for my 20+ years of playing guitar. This literally sounds like a tube amp in a box. You can dial in the perfect amount of boost or drive without really impacting your guitar's true tone. If you push it all the way, it's almost in distortion territory, yet it retains warmth and picking dynamics…on the other hand it compresses nicely – like a tube amp. How does it do that? It's magic. I got this mini version because I'm building a mini pedal board, so it fits perfectly. Don't let the size fool you though, because it sounds incredible. The only drawback is that it needs an external power supply. Oh, and as an added bonus, this is made in Japan, and it shows. The switches, knobs, and inputs feel very high-quality. I collect Tube Screamers, and decided to get this for the collection. Soundwise, it works as a TS808; great transparent overdrive for stand-alone use but excels at boosting gain on an overdriven amp. Not as harsh or "dark" as a TS9, and a decent price. Definitely a TS to consider if you're trying to save some money; you definitely won't be missing out on the sound of the TS808. Also great if you want to add a Tube Screamer to a board, but need to save space. The only negative I can say is the Level and Tone knobs are difficult to see for settings, but that's true with most mini pedals. It doesn't take a battery, but there again, neither do most mini pedals. Construction is more solid than the Mooer Green Mile, and the TSMini is made in Japan (thought for sure it was Chinese). The price is great on these, but I'd also consider checking out the East River Overdrive by EHX; my current favorite Tube Screamer clone. As far as the Ibanez Tube Screamer line-up, this is seemingly the best value.Dave

I should start by telling you all that i play modern metal, not classic rock or anything close. I bought this pedal a few years back hoping to squash out the hiss in my amp due to my use of an overdrive in front of the amp.I used it in front of my amp with a ts9 in its little effects loop. it was very difficult to get the start-stop quick djent style stuff i wanted without a feedback remnant always cutting in. also, there was a noticable amount of cut on any palm-muted notes and really any note played would not sustain naturally. any setting on the decay would not help. but, i had to have the threshold up pretty high to knock out the hiss. you must also know that i am using a horrific amount of gain with a 6505+. I have the post gain maxed out and most other things maxed out as well.After much research and saving, i invested in the isp decimater g-string. this product was on a whole other level. the things that the ns-2 lacked this thing just has. It senses when you are playing, instead of opening a gate when you play loud enough. Even with my extreme gain settings, overdrive in front, booster in the effects loop, and volume all the way up on my guitar, i can start-stop all day long just like periphery and animals as leaders. plus, my palm muted notes fade naturally as do normally fretted notes. Another thing i have recently learned is that the ns-2 manufacturing process uses lead free solder, whereas the ns-1 has lead based solder. This resulted in a big difference in signal integrity, and is very evident if you leave the pedal on bypass and play something, then removeit from the chain, and play something. it darkens the tone alot. In conclusion, if you want play the new styles of metal with all the gain and start-stop, buy the isp decimater g-string or pro rack g.MTloveit
This is a must have if you have a multitude of effects esp. overdrives, distortions at high gains and volume. It's a huge compliment to any pedal board. If your tired of excessive hum, buzzing or just white noise especially when using multiple pedals on a pedal board this is the solution. I mated mine with a BOSS LS-2 Line Selector pedal at the start of my pedal chain so every pedal is covered by it. It allows instant quiet after quick aggressive picking starts and stops while using heavy distortion. It's a "Fire and Forget" pedal for the most part if your running the same gear regularly. Overall: This thing is great. I have been searching for the right pedal to use with my electric violin that is versatile and gives me strange sounds if I need them. This pedal does it all. I use it with a light rock acoustic type band, a gypsy lounge jazz group (from originals to Kashmir by Zep), and an electronic project that I am working on. Its sturdy (I dropped it a couple times) easy to program with almost an infinite amount of possibilities. Totally worth the price! My next pedal of any sort will be an electro harmonix.PS – when I used the Cathedral Pipe Organ with the mandolin it freaked my family right out. Because the kids are older, rarely do they peek in anymore to see what I'm up to. The Pipe Organ did it. So cool. First, I love this pedal. As a keyboardist, organist & guitarist, from the moment I plugged this in and from the first notes, I fell in love with the sonic possibilities of the multi-octave generators right from the start. After all, that's how the organ can grow to such a monstrous cacophony of tones: simply by stacking octaves. But this pedal goes further by allowing you to set the level for each particular octave. Amazing concept. The attack delay, LPF & detune, and their button controls, also round this pedal out as a fantastic tone shaping tool. Simply put, it is an amazing sounding pedal. Polyphonic tracking is dead on, sans audio glitches (except for that with my noise gate, below). The eight preset slots at first don't seem like enough memory for all the different settings this pedal can handle, but the more I use it, the more that eight become more than enough. Very intuitive. The only sonic downside I noticed was when I had this pedal installed after my preamp and Silencer noise gate, the gate seems to mess with the polyphonic tracking of the POG; this was quickly remedied by placing the POG first in the signal chain before the gate. This is a bit on the pricy side for an EHX pedal, but if you have the cash, it is well worth the money for everything it can do. You will love how it makes your guitar sound.JOHN
Primarily bought this unit to substitute for a bass in home recording. Set all the other octaves and the original signal to zero and the -1 octave to full. With my Strat played through my Fender Rumble 150 the bass sound is ideal for home recording. Not suggesting it would replace a bass at live gigs, although it could possibly in a pinch. With the +1 octave at maximum and the original signal at 3/4 and the others all at zero it emulates a twelve string within limits. By that I mean if you use a jangley strum style and emphasize the third and fourth strings you can get a near twelve string sound. The other settings result in some interesting sounds but nothing I have yet found a practical purpose for. It is a bit pricey but appears to be well built and durable. I said it was mostly what I hoped for because it did exactly as I had hoped as a bass substitute but I was hoping for a more realistic twelve string sound.PMc

This thing actually works! I have two of them and I use them on my P bass, my Strat and Wurlitzer keyboard in my home studio. It's a necessity for any single coil pick up instrument, or any device plagued with AC hum/noise. It works on a whole different principal then most 60 cycle hum removers. On the strong setting it might suck out a little high end tone in some circumstances but I rarely notice much difference while playing and the benefits far outweigh that. The one _caution_ that you have to be aware of is that it uses a very specific non-standard power adapter that is crucial for tying it into your AC mains for it to "read" the hum and interference and remove it. If you see these for sale without the power adapter don't buy it. I've spoken to Electro Harmonix on a couple of occasions and although they were very responsive, believe it or not they were unable to sell me a separate power supply. I bought an expensive guitar that has single coil and hum-bucker pick-ups, all of them are noisy in my room. It's decent during day time but in the evening it goes nuts. The hum noise level is as loud as actual guitar signal. I though that guitar is defective but then learned that it is EMI caused by tons of electric devices from my neighbors. I got Hum Debugger and it cuts it out very well. I couldn't believe how good it works. You still can hear some crispy little noise sometimes, but it's playable. At least you can enjoy the sounds in the quiet evening time. People say it affect the sound of guitar a bit, maybe, I can barely notice, if I can at all. In my case the remedy for the hum noise is 99% where potential little change in the tone is 1% of a problem.eugene.genious
Got rid of the hum but DEFINITELY adds a very weird (tin can reverb) effect. Tried it in multiple positions in my effects chain, same effect. Many describe it as "metallic" sounding. It's bad. If you can't hear it, I'd see an audiologist lol. For live situations where you can't live with the hum of single coils or P-90s, it could work and be less noticeable in a band setting. Does exactly what it claims to. The upper fifth and octave sounds a bit synth-like when played clean, but when fed through an overdrive definately delivers the desired effect of a crazy, beefy sound. However, if playing clean and accompanying a distorted guitar, the octave up helps to solidify harmony lines without the synth sound being too noticeable at all. It's very well-engineered in build quality – quieter at high gain than most, but…the LEDs are too bright (on a dark stage you can't see beyond them to the controls), the 4 wiring option cuts out the amp reverb (Fender Supersonic) when the V4 is kicked in, and although Channel 2 is good for solo's the Ch1 is a bit fizzy for crunch. Initially I struggled to find a sound that I liked from this pre-amp, probably because I am not a great Marshall fan but I persevered and by knocking back the mids a bit and playing with the bright switch, I eventually found the sound I was looking for. Very well built. Overall sounds excellent with some issues. Single set of tone controls doesn't work well as the 2 channels are distinctly different. Doesn't do clean well at lower gain; you need plenty of headroom and it then cleans up OK. Will probably need a clean preamp of some sort to switch to for clean. It’s an Ibanez tube screamer, so of course it’s wicked. Easy to use, bombproof, and gives you that extra bit of oomf for a big solo. If you want pure dirty blues then I’d go for the 808, but the TS9 is great for rock, it’s got a slightly brighter more aggressive tone. These things really shine with a Strat, but they sound just as great with whatever guitar you’re using, and they are just loads and loads of fun. The tube screamers are, I think, a foundational building block of getting a good blues tone out of your rig. Obviously, your guitar and amp will have a big impact on your sound, but this pedal can help you find that special sweet spot of tone. Being an overdrive pedal rather than a hard distortion pedal, do not expect the long singing sustains you would get from a traditional distortion pedal, but more of a crunch, an added grit. I think the pedal will interface well with a distortion device like OCD, and spatial pedals like MXR Carbon copy, and TC electronics hall of fame… if you can afford them… they are expensive… the price you pay for quality. If you are into blues, this is the pedal. If you are into hard rock, this pedal is good in front of a layered chain of distortion pedals to over drive some killer tones.Jim in the box

I chose the SL Drive from a huge amount of drives on the market as I wanted something that fit on a small pedalboard, could provide a Marshall style sound at all gain levels as an alternative to amp gain, and which could work well with the BB MB pre-amp also by Xotic. This pedal really delivers. Although it takes time to set up and find the best sounds for personal preference, it provides a variety of useful tones across the spectra of volume, gain, and equalisation. The design is just so thoughtful and I like the possibility of running it at 18v, although at the moment 9v is better to my ears. I've had the SL drive for awhile now and try as I might I can't find anything that can kick it off my board. I've tried numerous other amp in a box pedals(Marshall and otherwise),overdrives and distortions but I keep coming back to this little guy. I guess I keep trying because I find it hard to believe that a pedal this small and this inexpensive(relatively) can't be outdone. I bought two EH pedals at the same time. The other one lasted one week before it broke, this one (Hot Wax) did not work right out of the box. Both had the same issue, no sound output. I called EH and told them the problem, I verified everything in my signal chain worked except their pedal…he said to send it back because it was probably dropped in shipping, he did not sound surprised. You can't have a pedal that breaks that easily, how am I supposed to gig with something that's unreliable & can't leave my house for fear of breaking. I won't be buying EH pedals again.Drum/Bass
I bought this pedal 10 months ago. never left my room. Just jammed on it at home. Now, after a few minutes of playing the volume lowers and sounds like warm poo. I jumped on the EHX forums and as it turns out there are many other people that have reported this same problem. This pedal is fantastic for sound, functionality and versatility. The sound is gritty without sounding too grainy. The left drive circuit is similar to a clean boost on a tube amp, and the right circuit is more like a tube screamer but is fairly transparent. With both pedals on, the drives blend well together to give a big fat sound! With each drive having its own volume and drive control, you have endless combinations of how you can blend the two drives together. Not only that, but there is an additional blend control so you can blend your drive signal with the dry signal. The controls are big making it easy to use, and there are bass & treble controls which affect the bypass signal as well as the overdriven sound. At under £100 this is incredible value, vastly outshining other products at well over £100. Do yourself a favour and get one of these, it's a great pedal for any genre – super versatile!Peter B.

Overall: First off, THIS ISN'T A PEDAL FOR EVERYBODY. The Blue Box is an ancient design – from around 1974. It's glitchy and works best on the A, D & G strings in the upper registers (above the 10th fret or so). And it isn't polyphonic – single notes only.Now, having said that, the sound it produces is truly unique to this pedal. Thick and wooly! I had the Boss OC-3 Super Octave and HATED IT. (It's best function is as a paperweight.) The biggest complaint I have with this pedal is that it isn't very loud, the volume drop when you engage the pedal is quite hard to miss. I solved that problem by running the pedal into an MXR Classic Overdrive. If you want to blow up a small guitar amp, this may be your ticket. I find it's best to palm mute the strings. Any extraneous noises interfere with the signal processing. I would indeed recommend this to a friend but with warnings. It may not work too well in a live setting but it's a great studio toy. Jimmy Page's solo in 'Fool In The Rain' is probably the best known use of this pedal but Wings guitarist Jimmy McCullough put one to good use on 'Wino Junko' from the 'At the Speed of Sound' album.Mark
If you're interested in a fuzz pedal with a lot of range, you should look somewhere else. If you want a pedal that makes fat sounding low-end buzzing noises, than this is the pedal for you. With the blend knob at 0 it has a very bland gentle fuzz that isn't very interesting on it's own. I can definitely say, if you're interested in this for a normal fuzz pedal, don't get it. The blend knob at half will get you a mixture of the normal fuzz with a mixture of the pedal's signature -1 octave buzz. I find having both octaves audible to be a bit distracting because the low end is very unwieldy and usually just sounds like mush underneath the conventional normal fuzz. With the blend knob at full you get the pedal in all it's glory, an 8-bit Nintendo deep bass buzz. Anything you play lower than the 12th fret on this setting will sound like static. Above 12, you can get some fantastic deep sounds that will really raise eyebrows among people who never thought a guitar could achieve those type of sounds. On it's own the volume and fuzz is pretty low, and I would recommend putting it though either an overdrive pedal or a distortion pedal to really make it pop. Don't get me wrong, it's a great pedal to have in your arsenal. It's essentially a bass pedal (something almost akin to the bass-line of Nirvana's "Breed"). It's limitations however make it a one song pedal (hence Jimmy Page's usage of it for one song and then throwing it aside). 70 isn't a whole lot to ask for a great song though. I don't regret buying it, but I'm not exactly overjoyed with it either. I usually bust it out to friends and they get a chuckle when I play the Super Mario Bros. "Underworld" theme. If you're tight on money, you're much better off looking at other fuzz pedals that for 10 extra will get you 10 times as many sounds. If you've got the scratch, I would recommend seeking out the DOD "Buzz Box". It was a custom pedal that DOD made for Buzz from The Melvins that basically takes the Blue Box and mixes it with a nasty distortion. They don't make it anymore and it's expensive, but it's a forgotten classic that blows this pedal away.

I should start by telling you all that i play modern metal, not classic rock or anything close. I bought this pedal a few years back hoping to squash out the hiss in my amp due to my use of an overdrive in front of the amp.I used it in front of my amp with a ts9 in its little effects loop. it was very difficult to get the start-stop quick djent style stuff i wanted without a feedback remnant always cutting in. also, there was a noticable amount of cut on any palm-muted notes and really any note played would not sustain naturally. any setting on the decay would not help. but, i had to have the threshold up pretty high to knock out the hiss. you must also know that i am using a horrific amount of gain with a 6505+. I have the post gain maxed out and most other things maxed out as well.After much research and saving, i invested in the isp decimater g-string. this product was on a whole other level. the things that the ns-2 lacked this thing just has. It senses when you are playing, instead of opening a gate when you play loud enough. Even with my extreme gain settings, overdrive in front, booster in the effects loop, and volume all the way up on my guitar, i can start-stop all day long just like periphery and animals as leaders. plus, my palm muted notes fade naturally as do normally fretted notes. Another thing i have recently learned is that the ns-2 manufacturing process uses lead free solder, whereas the ns-1 has lead based solder. This resulted in a big difference in signal integrity, and is very evident if you leave the pedal on bypass and play something, then removeit from the chain, and play something. it darkens the tone alot. In conclusion, if you want play the new styles of metal with all the gain and start-stop, buy the isp decimater g-string or pro rack g.MTloveit

It's a huge compliment to any pedal board. If your tired of excessive hum, buzzing or just white noise especially when using multiple pedals on a pedal board this is the solution. I mated mine with a BOSS LS-2 Line Selector pedal at the start of my pedal chain so every pedal is covered by it. It allows instant quiet after quick aggressive picking starts and stops while using heavy distortion. It's a "Fire and Forget" pedal for the most part if your running the same gear regularly. How odd. This review was flagged for writing Big Mu** using the two F's 🙂 For the money, this is a really hard pedal to beat. It goes from mild and laid-back to wild and intense. The controls feel great…like as in excellent quality. This is a reissue of the original Big Mu** PI. I tried a Big Mu** PI with Wicker and forget about it. It hissed so loud in Wicker mode that I couldn't even here myself think and it got even worse with the tone switch off. And even in the so-called Big Mu** PI mode, it didn't sound anywhere near as good as this Rams Head does. And, the Rams Head is quiet compared to the BM PI with Wicker. One more thing, The BM PI with Wicker does not say anywhere on it nor in the included paperwork where it's made, whereas the RH BM PI clearly says New York City on the face of it…Vincent
The tone sweep is nice and there are some interesting spots because it is linear while kind of non-linear at 10 to noon and about 1-2 on tone control. I can't say why but usually I had purchased like more expensive versions of ehx pedals. That being said, I think people need to realize that these are quite accurate reissues and circuits, and just because it is an affordable pedal doesn't mean it isn't great.
Overall: Floats like a stone and stings like a nest of angry hornets! This box has the buzzsaw sound down pat. The fuzz is a thick, smooth, and consistent. I like this kind of fuzz in particular because it’s less fuzzy and little more distortion-like. The Tone knob has a really wide sweep from boomy bass to mid-range Hades. It has plenty of gain on tap and even sounds pretty good with the guitar’s volume rolled back a skosh.I’ve never used the original Green Russian Muff and have only heard them compared through videos online, so I can’t speak as to how they’re different/alike. I got it because I didn’t want to haul my vintage Black Russian Muff around from gig to gig anymore because it’s getting valuable and since it was a pretty jenky design to begin with, it’s liable to break with heavy use. That being said, the reissue Green Russian Muff has a different sound than an original V8 Black Russian Muff. It doesn’t sound as good to me, but it’s not so different that I wouldn’t use the Green Russian live in lieu of the Black Russian for the aforementioned reasons. One huge plus for the Green Russian is its pedalboard friendly size. The Black Russian is the size of an 80s metal lunchbox and took up an awkward sized chunk of the pedalboard. Now there’s more room for other unnecessary boxes (gulp)! One noteworthy ding for this pedal is how difficult it is to see the script on the top of the pedal. The words are printed right underneath the knobs, so if it’s kinda dark (which it usually is) and the lights are all in front of you (which they usually are) the words are impossible to see. Overall it’s a nice fuzz especially for the price. It’s noisy, but once the music gets rolling you won’t even notice it.Brad

I used to think that boost pedals were dumb and that I would never use one. But after watching dozens of videos and seeing several big name endorsements, I thought that the Spark might be for real, and it is now EASILY my favorite pedal. Simply put, it just makes your tone better, no matter what kind of guitar or pickups you run through it. The sound quality and versatility are the best features. It gives you a great boost, but it's extremely amp-like, in the same way that clean channels on good tube amps break up if you crank the gain. And the little toggle switch gives you three different "clean channels" with which to work. The middle position has the most clean headroom and is the classic boost, but still breaks up a little if you max the gain. The Mid and Fat sounds add beef to your tone in fantastic ways, and I use those most often. Do you think that single-coils and/or jazz box guitars sound thin compared to solidbodies with humbuckers, like me? The Mid and Fat settings will fix that for ya. I love my Strats and my jazz guitars so much more now. Turn up the gain and the Mid and Fat settings will give you a great overdrive too. The best part about cranking the gain on the Spark is how well it makes your sound hit tube amps. It gives you glorious saturation at any volume level. This is the perfect pedal to put first in your drive section. Your other drive pedals will greatly benefit as well. Worried about tone? This is the most transparent pedal I've ever used, even more so than TC's other drive pedals (which I also love). The two EQ controls are fantastic and give the pedal a huge advantage over nearly every other boost pedal. Whether fully down or cranked, you get usable sounds in great frequency ranges. Simply put, this is the best pedal I've ever heard. Having volume AND gain, plus two great EQ controls, plus THREE voices to choose from puts this pedal above every other boost on the market. Took a bit of a flyer on this as I sort of have an end result in my head and im not entirely sure how to get there. i have a hybrid amp that has a touch of valve harmonics that im trying to exagerate. this is a step in the right direction (and with some fiddling might even be the thing) i think what i was expecting was more like a compressor, but this is more or a transparent drive type effect (at least with my amp). however it is first drive pedal that ive loved without faffing about with the dials for hours. am getting nice bluesy /seventies blues rock tones using the clean setting on the toggle, and the gain about midway. the fat setting starts pushing into proper overdriven sounds, but with a nice natural tone. so despite not being exactly what i was looking for (my fault) im really pleased with this pedal. so much so i might gift one to my kid. theres a tiny bit of noise when the level knob goes up high, but i get much the same from my SD1 so either its just the nature of the beast, or my set upReviewed by guitarguitar custome

I play at home. I have tried many pedals, ODs and distortions, etc. I have a few nicer guitars with great humbuckers. I have a Peavey 6505 tube amp and a Carvin for clean stuff. From my experience, with my stuff, the Nobels is very nice. It can be used for lots of styles and I really like the looks of it. Looks kinda retro. I got rid of a lot of pedals but this one stayed. I was looking for a natural sounding OD that doesnt colour the signal too much. The ODR-1BC does the job perfectly. Exactly what I was looking for . The drive adds anything between almost zero gain to quite significant saturation. As the drive is turned up, there is a boost in some high frequencies and these can be tamed by turning down the "Spectrum" facility. I have tried several different overdrive pedals including a few that were considerably more expensive than this one. The Nobels OD-1 is the best sounding one yet. The bass switch is also a plus, so make sure the one you buy has it. The three control knobs are the same as others, but seem to be more effective allowing me to get exactly the sound I am looking for. Ok lets all remember that this is an overdrive pedal. This is designed to help out your sound and not necessarily be the end all and be all of overdrive tones. There is a reason that amps that have a clean and dirty channel cost more and the better the sound the more they cost. Distortion pedals are relatively cheap and can really help out an amp that is so-so or give a little punch to a lead so that you don't have to fiddle with the knob settings of the amp right before. With that said THIS PEDAL WILL DELIVER. Simple, sleek and with three settings that cover a wide range of sounds. I like the LED that confirms ON-OFF if you are using it as a lead boost. Sometimes you can get carried away and keep using it in the rythm sections, but the light reminds you that you are not Zakk Wylde and that maybe some of the rest of the band might want to be heard. Overall its a great overdrive pedal not over the top and its awesome i Reccomend it to anyone I love the pedal its so simple to use three knobs and it gives great sound it really beefs up the sound on any amp no matter what channel. I read the reviews on how good it and watch so many videos of people using it and the sound was awesome so I knew that I had to buy it. The sound really beefs everything up especially on an overdrive channel. When i played on clean then turn this pedal on it made it sound jump to a crunch settting even though i set it on clean, on overdrive it gives it that extra kick that I was looking for. The main reason I bought this pedal was to have a good overdrive pedal to kick up my overdrive a little more and bring my Zack Wylde Crybaby to life because If you get the crybaby by itself it looses the sound and gets lost in the mix but with the overdrive it cuts through the mix and brings the sound back to life so you won't be disapointed. For the price its a great pedal its really good no matter what channel im playing on im not disappointed and along with my crybaby pedals ( dunlop zack wylde & morley mark tremonti) the overdrive gives them and extra kick
I use this to drive my OD1 channel on my Blackstar series one 100 amp. With all the knobs set at 12 o'clock it gives me the perfect high gain crunch I need. Easy pinch harmonics and sustain. The overall sound is dead on where it doesn't color my original signal. Oh and the gain on the amp is turned all the way up. I have the Blackstar dual overdrive that does not have the right sound and the Hardwire overdrive that also own that i like due to the high gain I want with very little hum or hiss you get when driving an amp however that creamy tube sound is not there like the ZW44.kmclean612

Earthquaker devices, in collaboration with the newly-resurrected park amplification, have faithfully recreated the park fuzz sound so that a new generation may enjoy it. the new park fuzz sound uses a different set of nos germanium transistors, hand-selected for a tonal match. indeed, when a/bd with the original unit, the sounds were strikingly similar. in fact, the staff at pgs was split right down the middle as to which was which. whats more, when doing the test, earthquaker devices had to set the new park fuzz sounds fuzz control at about half, whereas the original was dimed. the reissue has way more range in the fuzz dial than the original. the new park fuzz sound is hand-made, one at a time in exotic akron, ohio. the pedal is wire for true bypass and accepts a standard 9v centre-negative boss-style power adapter. the current draw is low, so its ready for your isolated power supplies.

This is my favorite fuzz pedal. I have a handful too. I have owned several tone bender type pedals and this is by far the best. Its way more versatile than a straight TB clone because of the addition of the tone knob. The tone is fairly bright. Never shrill though. You can dial in a more bass heavy sound, but the high end is never lost. The fuzz is very musical, and not too compressed and muddy with tons of dynamics. I can play everything from classic rock, blues, to doom metal on this thing. It really is an incredible pedal. The sound is one You will love. I have a Gibson SG, 78 Ibanez LP clone and a Gretsch 5122, run through a Blues Deluxe. They all sound great, especially with the BD. It sounds even better if you add a slight amount of overdrive (i use a super hard on), it gains articulation that way. You can hear every note on a chord. The best Overdrive on the market. It gives me several variations in tone while enhancing harmonics. Provides me with way more options than what a Tube Screamer could.
