Reviews:
I was curious about these guitars from the beginning. I played a rs420 at a shop and decided I wanted one. I bought the 502 on a whim . After a few months of playing I can honestly say this is my favorite guitar . It's the best balanced (perfectly)and most versatile. It's a guitar that you don't have to change anything. The styling is all Yamaha and cues taken from Yamaha models in the past 40 years. This guitar has better quality and better sound than any mid line Gibson for 3 times the price. I'm blown away. Only complaint I have is the nut being plastic. Other than that this is my perfect guitar. I love it so much I bought a rs820cr to compliment it.Richard
I wanted a P-90 guitar and considered options, mostly Gibson classics (Special and Special DC P-90 models) or Tele variants. The RevStar got my attention for its aesthetics – a modern DC look but not over-styled, and cool design details like the matte finish hard ware and brushed paint on the body. It's a very cohesive design language that works well. A very handsome guitar that's almost timeless in its look. The guitar is extremely well-assembled, easy to play, and sounds great. I've had it for a year now and still love it.Brooksie
The build quality, tone and style of this guitar are satisfyingly and surprisingly wonderful. Yamaha really outdid themselves with this new line of Revstars. The custom voiced YPG P90 pickups are delicious sounding in every position. The dry switch provides an additional menu of slightly thinner spank and quack tonal options you will definitely use. The design somehow exudes both vintage character and clean modernity at the same time. The solid mahogany of the body and set neck have a weight and sustain that couples that of a late 50s Gibson but with the workhorse reliability of modern fabrication. The matte finish of the maple capped top and hardware set over cream binding are just beautiful to behold, and the finish is designed to wear uniquely to each player (think of it like a pair of high-end denim jeans). The shop black tonehue reads as slate grey, especially against the normal black triple ply pickguard, and in certain lights can give off a slight nuance of a subtle dark grey/blue/green. By the way, Im almost reconsidering selling this as I write the description haha. I just need the funds unfortunately.axeman0509

Die Gitarre ist: -ausgezeichnet Bespielbar -fantastischer Klang -wunderschön, edel
Only disappointment the guitar was placed in a oblong box with a few bits of paper trying to protect it as apposed to it's original triangle box & then placed in the oblong box, it did arrive in one piece surprisingly, with one scratch that I've managed to polish out. Apart from all that, it's a beautiful guitar.Jim S.

Reviews:
This is a seriously awesome guitar! The neck feels great and guitar is well balanced. The pickups have that nice clear P90 attack and sustain for days. Mine arrived by courier from across the country and when I took it out of the case, it was in tune! Struck a chord and felt the resonance through my body. Then I did a few string bends and felt and heard the strings scratching on the frets! Absolutely dismally polished frets! Very disappointing to buy an expensive guitar and end up having to spend a few hours polishing the frets myself. The rest of the setup however, was impeccable. Intonation, action, string height, all really spot on. Overall, I’m really happy with this guitar. I’ll include a photo of the frets where you can see the polished frets next to the dull ones.Yamaha please include locking tuners on the next version! Absolutely love this guitar though!Peter R.
I purchased this Yamaha Professional with P90s and also A Reverend Gristle 90 to compare and the Ergonomics and the neck feel on the Yamaha was nicer and easier to navigate. More tone option for me on the Yamaha. The Jumbo Stainless Steel frets had a familiar and nice feel for me. The only drawback and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the Yamaha did not have silent P90s whitch is not a game changer for sure, nothing a good noise gate wouldn't fix or switch out Pick Ups. Craftsmanship is stellar. Trying it out for the first time at a gig tonight. Chicago Music Exchange did what they promised and put new strings of my preference with a nice set up. Thanks David A.Jim O.

Reviews:
Over the past years I have mostly had Senheiser headphones, then AKG then to KRK 8400s on the last pair. As the headphone served me for quite a few years before going defective I decided to try the Yamaha's Glad i did, it's just made me realise I have been missing a true monitor headphone like these. The flat true response they give and enabling you to hear all the details in your song is just amazing. Based on how good these are I will buying some Yamaha Monitors as well.
Overall: The older you get and the longer you play you come to realize that it's your skills and not that of gear that really matters,i.e Hendrix would have been Hendrix on a Wal-Mart Starcaster, is it nice to have a higher quality instrument? Of course is it necessary? No.This guitar will "get the job done", especially in a recording situation. This guitar is a "bare bones" no frills instrument for working players, once you "make it" go out and buy a 4k Martin or Gibson until then keep it real and work on your technique. I'm not really sure what players get in terms of value when they spend thousands on an instrument a 3k guitar does not sound 15x better than a $250.00 guitar. Some adjustment would be advised on this Yamaha, file down the nut or replace all together, the tuners could be better and the strings meh but this is a fine, professional quality instrument and I highly recommend it.Mike

A premium feel, for not a lot of money, and the P90s roar!John R.
I've had custom shop Strats… Teles… SGs… Les Pauls… Jazzmasters… 335s… Gretchs… and PRS Custom 24s. They were all great – but this Yamaha puts them all to shame. The neck will feel like it was made from a mold of your hand. The fit and finish is flawless. The array of sounds from the 5-way switch in combination with the passive boost (it even works with wireless) is incredible. Simply put – it's the best guitar I've even owned at any price.Steve

I have bought several guitars in the 100 to 300 range. I was surprised on the quality of this guitar and felt it was superior to many other brands in this range. From neck joint to fret polish & leveling and finish this guitar is quality except the tuners, however the guitar stays in tune and rarely goes out. The neck is not a Fender Strat or Tele neck so don't expect it to play like one, Its its own thing. It is not wide at the nut so if you need a wide neck at the nut it may not be for you. I find it fine and would not consider it narrow. The neck is slightly fatter than a Squire neck but it is still a C shape and a bit thicker as you go up the neck to higher frets. It plays great. Its set up well for Rock and Blues playing, neck adjusted with a light bow and strings set low (but not to low to buzz). Bridge saddles are stainless steel and this make the strings ring out bright and loud even when not plugged in. Intonation was spot on. Frets are tall enough to allow for string bending (there not super low). As regards pickups this is a personal thing. Pickups are very basic and do okay, one may want to upgrade them to ones own liking other wise there fine.pchapm
I was hesitant when ordering the guitar, but after I received it worry washed away from a single glance. I'm not good at instruments, I never played anything than doing ukulele club when I was a kid so I didn't expect myself to buy a guitar. It's delicate and beautiful, feels great to hold and sounds just as good. I do not regret buying this guitar at all, in fact I'm greatful that I'm able to own it. I strive to become great at playing it, little by little . Thank you!Nazma B.
It's a beautiful guitar and really well made. I bought it for my 9 year old daughter and she loves it. I don't know anything about guitars as I'm a pianist myself, but her guitar teacher was absolutely delighted with it. It's definitely worth paying the extra for the upgrades. I can definitely see it lasting her as it feels really solid, and the knobs and twiddly bits etc feel really solid. I genuinely can't get over how nice it is. Makes me want to learn the guitar myself!Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Reviews:
I ordered this guitar since I was keen to try a P90 guitar but also didn't want to spend much money in case I decided they weren't for me. I had heard the quality of this guitar was great and it price was great value for money, but I didn't expect that the quality would be indistinguishable from my $2000+ guitars. The fit and finish is (as much as I can tell) flawless, the fretwork is great (no rough fret edges). Even the tuners, while not locking feel like they're great quality and hold tune well. At most I could say that maybe the frets could be polished a little more, and locking tuners would be great (a personal preference), but at this price I'm amazed they can make a guitar of this qualityMathew
I bought it after seeing Chris Buck rave over his several different Revstar models. I was not disappointed. The guitar feels and sounds great, and the "dry switch" has become my favorite guitar feature in a long time. Amp too boomy in the low end? Pop the tone knob up. Problem solved. Great buy. Needed a setup out of the box, but that's a very small complaint.Christopher
Bought this at a local shop. Traded in a Epi LP custom classic. No regrets there. Easily the best guitar under 1K I've ever played. Clear, open pickups. Warm, but not muddy. Bright enough w/o being shrill, brittle or harsh unlike my strats. Expansive and versitile frequencies.. typical of P90's. Has nice 'spank' but can be smooth enough for warmer jazz or high gain distortion. Frets were a tad sharp on side edge but w/ 600 wet dry sand paper, blue tape and patience.. one could fix that over a week. Worth the time and effort. Fret height and width is wonderful. No bottoming out on this fretboard. Radius has a nice slight curve, nothing dramatic either way. Aluminum 'hardware' was something I wasn't sure about , but it actually feels great. Lightweight. Tailpiece creates 'boingyness' of an SG original w/ vibrato but firmer and more stable. Easy as pie to change strings. Bridge feels *solid* and VERY well intonated. Had to do hardly any adjusting. I will get a bone nut for this one. It deserves it. Tone knob is loose due to the 'cheap' push/pull pot. Knob is tight as it can be. Replace pot if you want to. Took me several hours to notice the difference in tone when I pulled out the dry switch. Interesting. I don't hate it. It's a subtle change, but if you don't like bass stomping on things, it can definitely help. I say keep it. I never like seeing any finish on the rosewood fretboard. A bit shiny. I'm going to steel wool it off. I played continuously for almost an hour and a 1/2 on clean channel w/o having to touch the tuners. There is some tiny bit of binding on G string, but it's not an issue. The FUN factor is inspiring. Classic simple looks are boutique. Not too neck heavy. Found some static charge on p90 covers if I touch them too much. Easy fix. Palm muting picking is easy when anchoring pinky behind the bridge pickup cover. How convenient. I want two more of these. Selling some strats, I think. This is a winner!Vikki B.

Supplied with everything you need to start playing electric guitar, which is both convenient and easy. The AMP and guitar sound great, and only a cheap adapter is needed if you want to use standard audio headphones for the stereo sound AMP. All round great beginner guitar set, do note that the AMP uses European plug, so you'll need an adapter if ordering to UK.

For so long I have been looking for something different. Something no one else was playing. Kinda my own guitar. I've been playing for 30 years now and am 41. I've owned all the great guitars at one point or another. In the last couple of years I bought two high end guitars and had to return them both. They were "plekd" if you know what I mean. First one had dead frets 17th – 20th. Paid $2000 for it. I was told that if I went up in price, the value would go up too. Man, what a salesman. If you spend 2 grand you get screwed, but spend a little more and the product will be as advertised. The second guitar's paint job was all messed up. The quality of the new models just isn't there. So I've been looking for same material etc, but with a few enhancements and better price point. You don't have to spend a couple grand if you want to play guitar. The skyrocketing prices are out of control. So, I looked outside the USA and look what I got. The best playing "Paul Killer" I've ever seen. Craftsmanship is perfect. Once I changed the strings to "9"s, all my dreams came true. Please give this a look. You won't be let down. Now I just need a yamaha tshirt -KeithKeith
