Capo For 8 String Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

We usually do a gig that last 4 hours easy, but since I developed arthritis in my left hand, I can't bar all night. Thanks to this Glider Capo, I have no problem playing all night. I use acoustic/electric guitar by the way. One important note: do not buy those imitations from China. They're cheap, but they won't work. I really enjoy mine.mavi.guita

I bought this capo because I need to make mid-song key changes while keeping the same chord voicings, and the traditional capo I have just didn't cut it. Chords rang out of tune or buzzed. I ordered this one and couldn't be happier! I don't think I'll ever go back to my old one again.Ronnie A.

A good solid product but takes a fair bit of effort to attach it to the neck as the springs are quite strong for obvious reasons. I found I needed both hands to attach it but left it on the nut after that ready for further use. Also needs some effort to move it smoothly when playing – I found it difficult to change position with my thumb and often use my strumming hand to accomplish the fret position change. Time will tell as I'm an ageing player, perhaps younger players will find it easier and perhaps different neck depths will have and effect – I use electro acoustic guitars mainly! This is one of my favorite capo's, the other being the G7 Performance. I really appreciate the micrometer adjustment, I can set the EXACT tension necessary to maintain proper tuning and it is very fast and eeasy to move around the neck. Like the Kyser capo, it doesn't get in the way of fretting chords close to the capo, but unlike the Kyser, it doesn't throw the guitar out of tune. It also doesn't weaken over time (As in every couple of years) and require replacement. Overall, a great design and I highly recommend it for folks who are uncomfortable with the G7.PipeRain

I was looking for a better capo as the Kyser and Dunlop capos that I owned weren't cutting it (I was using a capo at the 9th fret for a song) and came across this guy. I wanted a Shubb capo but didn't want to waste time during my performance with adjusting it. This capo was fast and so much easier to grab and move on the neck. I liked that I could adjust it as needed. However, the absolute best thing about this product is the pick holder. I have set a pick down or put it in my pocket (when I play a finger-style song) too many times and got tired of remembering where I put my pick and/or digging in my pocket for it. Having the ability to put it on the capo has been a game changer. 100% recommend this capo.Jess

This capo performs better than any of the others I have tried over the years. It seems to have solved all the capo issues that plague other capos. It is easy to use. It does not pull your strings sharp or flat. It does not deaden your strings like the spring equipt capos that don't have enough pressure to get the job done. It is not bulky and in the way. It just does it's job so you can play. It is adjustable to fit different necks/tensions. You can dial in the tension so your strings ring as if there were no capo at all. Nice. I was even impressed with the finish (antique). Works great on my Taylor and Martin! I would recommend this to any player.MB

Not being able to mount the Schubb C-Series capo on the guitar head (like my old Kysers) and sometimes needing both hands to re-position the capo does take a little getting use to. Keeping capo in my pocket is NOT convenient as the Irish Trad groups I play with SIT to play!. But sewing a small ribbon loop inside my woven guitar strap has solved that problem. It takes two seconds to hook the long bar of the capo thru the loop and I'm off to the next set of tunes. Capo keeps firm equal pressure and my Taylor is sounding just fine, thank you!Grans50

Worse yet, the manufacturer wanted me to return to capo to the UK, at my cost, in order to provide me with a different, less expensive model which he says will work better, as a straight exchange. In other words, spend half the cost of the capo in postage to receive a less expensive capo.Cal

Previous to this purchase, I have been using capos by Kyser and Shubb. Like most products, each of these three capos has things it does well and not so good. The Kyser is the simplest to use. It clamps easily but not so tight that it pulls all the strings sharp and it has a soft pad that seems to wrap over the strings to keep them in place. The down side to the Kyser is it's big and kind of gets in the way, if playing cords close to the capo. For example, if you play Hotel California and capo on the 7th fret, the capo can get in the way when you go to the F7 chord. The Shubb is compact and unobtrusive, but it takes some adjustment to get it tight enough, but not too tight and the rubber pad is pretty hard, so you have to get the tension perfect to avoid lateral sting movement. The nice thing about the Shubb is it has a set screw to adjust tension, so once you get it set, it's pretty consistent IF you get the capo in the same location between the frets and on the same place on the neck. The G7th is very light and compact and looks sleek. The problem that made me downgrade it to 4 stars, is it takes some practice and sometimes multiple attempts to get the capo attached with the perfect amount of tension. This is done by squeezing the G7th on the neck. If you squeeze toohard, you'll push the strings down between the frets and make the guitar sharp. If you don't squeeze hard enough then you can get string buzz. The REAL test of a capo, IMO is when you put it on an electric and they play solos where you bend strings. If the capo isn't tight enough the string will be pushed laterally across the neck and it won't return to the original position, leaving THAT string sharp. To summarize, NONE of the capos I mentioned are perfect. Overall, I'd have to say the Kyser works best, for me. I think it has the softest pad material that clamps on the strings, so it does a good job of keeping the strings in place, while soloing. Just to clarify, I usually put the capo very close to the back side of the fret, rather than in the center between frets, as I find that does the best job of NOT pushing the string down between the frets. On an acoustic where you are only looking to strum open chords in a different key, they all do a good job. Price-wise the G7th is by far the most expensive, so factor that in. To get 5 stars, I think the G7th needs a softer pad to wrap over the strings and keep them in place better laterally. That would allow less tension to securely clamp the strings in place. I think I'd still recommend the Kyser. It performs well, iscost-effective and the only problem is that it's the biggest of the three I mentioned and gets in the way a little.rockingcpa

Overall: Nice capo for 6 string acoustic. Tension is just right and easier to squeeze than other trigger type capos. Nice low profile. Stores on the headstock nicely. Good for quick changes…one hand operation. Not good for 12 strings but GREAT for 6 strings. I like it!Randy

Kyser capos are great. Their reverse style design doesn't contact your hand while playing. They are a more expensive than competitor capos. One downside is that the springs tend to break if you use it alot. And this usually occurs after the warranty expires. Almost impossible to fix. Other than that they are great.njweb60

Having tried Shubb S1 and other KG6B-style capos, I keep coming back to Kyser KG6B capo. It clamps down on the strings at the correct pressure. As the name suggests, it is quick to fit or remove. The protruding 'arms' can get in the way when playing the 'first fret', but rarely. It works well on electric guitars like Strats as well – Shock!! : oRegular J.

I have a nice, custom guitar that I thought was having serious issues with intonation. After getting it professionally setup a couple times, I was still experiencing the issue. Then I realized that it was really only when using a capo. I have a Kyser quick-change that I was using, but it was the standard-issue normal tension capo. It worked great on my acoustics, but applied a bit too much pressure on my electric. Switching to this low-tension capo has solved all of my problems!RONNIE

The C3b is solid brass capo for 12 string guitars or any wide-necked guitars with a gentle radius across their fretboards. Guitar necks differ in thicknesses and shapes so this capo (like all Shubb capos) has an adjuster that enables it to fit any neck size. Once adjusted and clipped into place, it does the job perfectly. I have several other capos, including others by Shubb, but prefer the positive, reliable action of the solid brass or chrome models. You can buy cheaper, wide-fitting capos that are not as effective or durable. I recommend the Shubb C3b capo for wider necked, steel strung guitars.orm_uk2014

I have marked this as good value and whilst I'm not in the habit if recommending stuff, I can say that I have a number of rather expensive flat top guitars , I use those expensive picks but see no reason to use anything but this particular model of Shubb capo. I have a separate capo for each guitar kept in its own pickbox in the case. I answered "enjoyable only because to NOT say yes gets complicated. First of all, this capo doesn't work at all. And that really isn't surprising. I may have just gotten a bad one. Understand that I have two 6 string Shubb capos that I love and would never part with. That's why I was shocked at this 12 string capo. Now let's take a look at what's wrong with it. There are two pads on these capos: one pad goes against the back of the neck of the guitar and the other pad (the big pad) goes over the strings. The two pads should line up reasonably well. This one doesn't, to say the very least. It looks like the arm that holds the neck pad is WAY TOO FAR to the inside of the capo. This looks completely wrong and the capo doesn't work. What happens is that the neck pad digs into the neck and pulls the string pad sideways because of the misalignment. Again, I want to make it clear that the Shubb 6 string capos are the best capos I ever owned and I even bought a second one. What may have happened is that they might have accidentally put a 6 string part (the arm that holds the pad that goes against the back of the neck of the guitar) on this bad 12 string capo that I bought. Also, my 12 string capo doesn't look like the advertised picture at all. The pads line up fairly well on the advertised picture of this 12 string capo. But you can look at the attached picture of the 12 string capo that I bought and they are not the same at all. I'm going to try to get to the bottom of this somehow. I just did a comparison between the 12 string capo and my 6 string capo and I can see that the arms for the neck pads are identical on the two. The arms should probably be considerably longer on the 12 string capo.FlatPicker

No matter how you put this on, next to the fret, in the middle, diagonal one way or the other, either the low string or high string will buzz. I bought 2 of these because they were cheap and both of them did the same things. Looked like a solid capo, but just fell short. You can't play open chords with it and that is the only purpose of a capo really. So…Fail! FYI: My guitar is average neck size using light gauge strings.boogienerdgod

My previous capo broke off in my hand so I went looking for a sturdier one. I found it with this shiny one. The previous one was made of plastic where the spring seats. This one is one piece and more solid.coerf_agile

I play solo fingerstyle guitar and this capo makes it so easy to play the chords and melody at the same time. The key of D is very friendly to playing the melody of a lot of songs over the chords but you need that low root note. You can use drop D tuning but that takes away your normal G chord and kind of messes things up with scales and chords. This capo make it so easy plus it's quick to take off and go back to standard tuning. I love it and I've been using it for years.Josh

I've tried several capos over the years and I like this one the best so far. I notice that I have better control over the tension it exerts upon the smaller strings, thereby keeping them from going too sharp. I have found that it works best on my guitar if I insert it over the guitar neck from the bottom of the neck with the capo's opening pointing upwards. This seems to allow the G7th Newport's adjustable tension knob to favor its pinch force over the E,B & G small strings, which, as you know, are the strings more prone to going sharp when using a capo. Something else that is helpful when using capos (I saw this in a video once) is to position capos nearer to the frets instead of in the middle between the frets. Positioning a capo a little closer to the fret (but not too close) seems to cause a more equalized pressure over the six strings before they touch the fret.Redman

Trouble I had with numerous non adjustable capos is they will shift your tuning in the sharp direction especially closer to the nut. 3 things I like about this G7 capo is 1. Slim design makes it feel like there's no capo at all. 2. The precise adjustment allows you to set the compression pressure the same as your bar finger, keeping you in tune at any fret. 3. Easy to adjust on the fly, great when switching guitars with different neck radius and thicknesses or acoustic to electric. I keep two ready at every gig.Guitarpilot
