I have a Stratocaster that I have been learning chords and following the lessons in a book that is instruction for learning scale. I usually don`t write reviews but I had to for this guitar. After reading a ton of reviews regarding the Squire Classic Vibe 50s and owning a 2018 MiM Stratocaster I was on the verge of buying another MiM due to selling the one I had. I never was really disappointed with the MiM but to me it just lacked that hardcore Fender Strat tone I was looking for. Don`t get me wrong, it did have good tone but it wasn`t great tone (vintage tone). I could afford to buy an American Stratocaster but I could not see spending that kind of money when I am not a professional player. What I did learn from studying up on the Squire 50s is that it has the Alnico pickups instead of the Ceramic pickups like the MiM which is a huge plus. In addition, the tone wood (body) which is pine on the 50s Classic Vibe is the tone wood (body) that they used on some of the earlier Stratocasters. After I had read several of the reviews I rolled the dice and bought me one from Sweetwater. I got the guitar and was really surprised on how well it was set up right out of the box (Thank you Sweetwater). I didn`t have to do anything to it, action was spot on (low) and guitar was in tune. I looked the guitar over and the finish was flawless. I had a good sit down with the guitar on both a Fender tube and a Peavey SS amp and I have to say, I am very very happy with the purchase that I made. The guitar does have that sweet Fender tone that I was looking for. It`s better than MiM tone that I was getting by a good margin (MiM more for playing modern stuff). If you want to take the guitar just a bit further, you can replace the tremolo bridge with a MiM tremolo as an upgrade and you will have guitar that sounds really really close to an American Fender without the large price tag that comes with it. If your looking for a super good guitar, well made, plays fantastic and oozes Fender tone, you can`t go wrong here. Worth every dime and then some. Don`t let that Squire name stop you, you will be rewarded very nicely. Oh, and a shout out to Joe Perrone from Sweetwater, thank you Joe 🙂
I started looking for a “real” Strat with Fender on the headstock. My budget would work with a Player Series Strat so i started doing my research. The first couple I played weren’t overly impressive, the necks didn’t feel great and the switch & pots felt just like the Squier guitars I had. I saw a couple Squier CV models but I was determined to have the name Fender on my next guitar. I finally picked one up and was blown away! I loved it so I checked the specs and tried another CV and came away impressed. That night I placed my order with AMS, used their payment plan and a couple days later had one of my own. Sound: If you're looking for the Strat sound this will obviously work. Features: I'm impressed with the quality of it. It stays in tune and it came perfectly set up right out of the box. Ease of Use: It is not playable at all for me. This guitar would be much better suited for a small guy or a female. Certainly not for somebody with big hands. Quality: I managed to get a good look at the pickguard when I dropped a Seymour Duncan JB Jr pickup in the bridge position. Everything looked good. My only complaint is that the output jack was loose. Value: Yes, but I wouldn't pay more. Manufacturer Support: N/A The Wow Factor: I got it because I wanted to have a lefty Strat. I had planned on painting it and making modifications to it anyway but the neck is too thin and it's unplayable. Overall: The checkout, delivery and everything with the zZounds went fine. But be warned that this has a VERY thin neck and every time I play it, it makes my hand hurt so I have to set it back down after two minutes.Craig

I spent 15-20 minutes on the phone attempting to get info on the correct size Fret Wrap. I didn't. The CS person said this one would work. It's too small and depresses the strings rather that just muffling them. I play Ibanez and Fender electrics – so the necks are already pretty small at the nut. The medium size would have been the correct choice. So I can't NOT recommend them. Just get the right size for your needs.YeahOK
As a bass player, Ive finally gotten around to working on the small, but important, parts of my bass playing: cleaning up my sound. Especially while playing fast notes, high up on my bass and without a floating thumb, Ive had too much clutter coming from strings which were ringing sympathetically. I've been using Fingerease for many years. It works great, as advertised… When used correctly, quiets string chatter, definitely speeds my playing, prolongs string life, helps keep calluses just moist enough so they don't dry and peel off, prevents the long day/gig finger tip pain, makes slides effortless. Works great at outdoor gigs when humidity or sweat cause finger and hand to neck drag. Surprisingly, does not cause your fingers to slip off the string while doing bends. The only complaint I have, be it small is, once you take the cap off the first time it never stays put when you place it back on can. That can cause a problem if stored in a "gig bag". I've resorted to placing a piece of duct tape on the cap to can. Although that may be "nit picky" drives me nuts!Sharkey

This review in which I have observed and feel may not be persuaded to others, but this is not my intention in doing at all. So I want to clarify that it is an ok use for but for some critique reasons. First off, I am still a fan of this product to this day, and yes I have use this quite often. BUT, there are some few things you have to be aware of when you buy this. Most of the times when I change strings it's because they feel stiff and I have no I idea why they keep feeling stiff most of the time, until I come to realize it's the finger ease that's being in use. Here is my tip on buying a product. "ALWAYS READ WHAT'S ON THE BACK!" and yes, I have to learn this the hard way. The 1st line of the 1st paragraph is the crucial evident you have to think about, in which the part is read, "Reduces finger tenderness-stops string talk…" To me, that would mean that it will stiffen the strings to the point where there will be little or no string talk, in which case, you'll be sacrificing string bending. Many songs that are played are highly used for bending strings and such, but if you don't do strings bending at all, you wouldn't care much at all then. Also, this takes away you callous from your fingers! "…residue transfers from strings to fingers and conditions callouses, keeping soft and smooth without snags." I don't know if I am interpreting correctly, but YOU NEED TO HAVE HARD CALLOUSED FINGERS TO PLAY GUITAR OR ANY OTHER STRING INSTRUMENT! I think that this is good for nylon strings but not steel strings at all… I replaced my old elixirs nanoweb .009 over dunlop .009 and it was very good at first when I played to stretch out the strings, but after when I applied the finger ease to the strings, it just started to sound and feel really different. Now, many of you who may read this read this review will not agree with me maybe because most of you have better experience with the this more than me; But this is my experience with the product which is the reason why I'm giving this a 3 stars. It is not a good product, but it is not bad either. For now, this product will be my last can when I finish it. Until the manufacturer improves this product, I will buy it once again. By the way, the guitar that I put my strings on is a Charvel DST-FR1 which is similar to the LTD/ESP Gus-g Random star.

I have been using these pickups, emg-sa , for over 20 years and I have yet to find another pickup that sound as good as emg pickups. I have tried other brands and I can get a good sound out of them but they are always missing something. Then I go back to emg's and they give me the sound other are missing. I hear from other musician's that an emg pickup sounds sterol and they are wrong. Not sterol at all. From sparkling clean sound to nice smooth over-drive to a jazzy sound….they will perform nicely. Bought a set of EMG SA to pair it with a 89R to find those 80s studio guitar tones and to eliminate all the hum from single coils. Nowadays I mainly play thru an interface/pc and with single coils I used to get a lot of noise especially if I played with some med/high gain. EMG's were the perfect solution to get rid of the noise. Sonically they're more flat/balanced and compressed than a single coil wich has a more open sound and a caracteristic scooped eq curve.
Overall: Meh, a lot of people say EMG pickups are sterial and lack their own character. I'm afraid I agree whole heartedly. These sound like a lack luster Telecaster pickup with no life of their own. I'll take a Seymour Duncan JB over these any day. Oh well, 250 bucks down the drain maybe the kid next door will buy them. A few tweeks from your amps EQ, and you might find an aceppable tone. There is an electrical guitar tone and then there is the Fender tone. Wow what amazing pickups these are! Very clear, sharp, but still deep and soulful. And then there is that famous Fender twang.. oh man that is so sweet. These pickups are very versatile. And when split, they actually sound like real single coils with very little volume drop, so funky stuff is very much in question. Rock, blues, funk, jazz you name it. Let's face it, you can get a pot from a lot of places on the internet. It came in handy that Musician's Friend carries these, and DiMarzio makes quality components, so finding this in my search was very convenient for me. I have a Squier strat that I put Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups in the neck and middle, and a DiMarzio Injector at the bridge. The vintage noisless set came with a 1-megohm volume pot. And the sound just wasn't cutting it for me. It seems like kind of a silly thing that something as simple as a volume pot can make a big difference, but it did. I swapped out the pots, transferred over the RC network for the treble-bleed, and soldered all the wires on, and it just breathed new life into my guitar! It feels like there's a little more output, slightly brighter tone, and just feels and sounds great in general. This is one of those things my Squier strat has been needing for a long time! The pot in the picture is not what you get. The pot shown is an older Dimarzio pot made by CGE. CGE is no longer in business. Check out your favorite forums regarding CGE pots. What you receive instead is a CTS pot vintage style pot (dishback) with gold shaft and gold bushing. The Dimarzio p/n is EP1201 and it is an excellent pot. I bought 3 of these and I have one installed in my Gibson '79 ES-347. The new Dimarzio pot serves as the tone pot for my bridge pickup. The other 3 pots in the guitar are original Dimarzio 500K. Rotation is very smooth with very low rotational resistance and a very natural sounding taper. The new Dimarzio feels and responds just like the other (much older) pots in the guitar. I was impressed! The CTS-built Dimarzio pot here is an excellent buy. Compare with the CTS-built Gibson 500k pot . Notice the CTS-stamped baseplate on the Gibson. The Dimarzio pot is stamped exactly like this. The Dimarzio name, pot value, and datecode are stamped on the back. Again, the Dimarzio pot is a premium vintage style CTS pot that looks very similar to the Gibson pot. So, don't get upset that the pot you get doesn't look like the picture. Be thankful that it says Dimarzio and CTS. Top edge of the brass shaft (at the splines) could use a bit of a taper instead of being flat. Some knobs will go on a little easier.
A pot is a pot. This one seems to have a different taper and smoother feel then my stock epiphone pot. However, I also had to enlarge the pot hole on my guitar to get it to fit in my epiphone. Probably just a metric vs imperial thing. If you are wanting to upgrade thinking it will affect your guitars sound or tone. I didn't notice the difference when turned all the way up. However, the slightly different taper does giving you a different range of volume options, so that could be affect the tone or sound, depending on how you position it. If you keep your volume pots all the way up all the time, then I don't see the point. For me, in the future, it would only be worth the hassle if I was replacing a broken pot, but this is a solid choice for a replacement. I originally got it to turn my epiphone les paul into an value version of the Gibson Adam jones signature. They put one of these in the circuit for the bridge pickup. I'm not sure what differences I was expecting, but I really do like the way it feels, and am happy with my purchase.tatcole_0

The Alumitone series has always had my curiosity. I play mainly metal, and i wanted something that would give my guitar a really sick tone and be all there. I knew i wanted a Dimebucker in the neck position.(kinda an experiment really) So i bought the Deathbucker for the bridge and i couldnt be happier. The guitar is an Epiphone goth v with a floyd rose. I really wanted to see how this pickup worked with a trem, and to be honest we all know how well a dimebucker goes with one. All and all my experiment was a success and this guitar is rocking now. Sweet crisp highs, and the lows are nice and chunky but not dirty at all. It doesnt matter too much what you do with this pickup it will meet your needs. work the cash!!!!!!
These pickups are awesome. I installed them in a chapman standard ML2. They look simply fantastic. This is a light guitar to begin with and these took off almost 2 more lbs, making this the lightest most comfortable guitar to play that I own. I installed them so that coils can be split, but I almost never do that, I just play them in full humbucker mode. Still, it's a nice option for more tonality. I did not replace the pots with 250k pots (guitar has 500k pots) and I think they still sound great. The literature that they come with says that they are optimized for 250k pots, I will probably try them like that eventually, but for now I'm really happy with how they sound. They are incredibly noise free, except for the noises that you want to make. They sound sick through all my amps, tube and solid state. They play friendly with all my effects pedals. Sound great clean or dirty. This is the second pair of Lace pickups that I have, and I think Lace is my new brand. I'm in the process of building a new guitar from scratch right now, and I'll bet that Lace pups will end up in that too.MCL
I was excited to receive these pickups. I was playing EMG 81/85s for 14 years but there was always a lack of warmth in those. I have since switched all my guitars to Duncan Blackouts which are amazing. I had one 9v battery start to leak in a guitar (thanks duracell!) so I wanted to try something that would supposedly be similar. Wired as recommended, brand new Bourns 250k tapping pots (250k pots recommended). Their wiring diagram on the site is a 50% wiring diagram and LACE references another 3rd party site for diagrams which show (coil tapping) wiring different from theirs. I had to re-write the recommended 3rd party diagram with theirs to get it to work properly (come on guys…..) These pickups are lacking that overdrive push/output level. I have been playing both side-by-side over the past few days through the same 3 amps and same exact Schecter Custom XXX guitars. They just don't have that compressed "UMPH" that the blackouts have. They have a more MEDIUM output sound when compared to the blackouts. I am returning them unfortunately… They would probably be good if you are coming from vintage humbuckers and want a little more balls but if you are looking for the "tightness" and "compression" of actives you won't get it…Toner

My 5 year old son received this electric guitar for Christmas 2019 and still loves it. Of course we are selective when he uses it because it's an instrument and he gets a little loud.
