Sounds good. very practical tool if you want to cary a small pedal board you can fit in your hand. Great for connecting to your interface to record ideas for demos. The cab sim is good. I find it abit dark sounding but the eq fixes it. Comes in adurable metal shasi you dont have to worry about it breaking and even comes with it's own power supply which is great for this price point. The affects are controlled by a mix level- Agreat solution to saving realestate. Dirt starts with Gilmorish over drive up to hair metal and everything in between. A tap tempo and an aditional overdrive would have made it aperfect pedal but it's great as it is considerring the price point. I would recomend it to any guitar player or producer.tamikere0

Easy to use, nice chorus, nice reverb, delay is a bit touchy and difficult to adjust on the fly. The distortion is pretty good..when you engage the button, I get a lot of noise through my amp. I thought it may be a bad cable, but I have tried several cables including two brand new monster cables.same thing. Other than that, the pedal is fine. First of all let me say I also have the G1ON and bought the G1X Four for the enhanced features and so I'd have one with the expression pedal. I sold all my tube amps when I was laid off, retired and moved to Mexico. My reference point is tweed and blackface era tube amps. I gotta say, once you learn how to dial in the tones you want, these little plastic boxes do a pretty decent job of amp and effects modeling. Like the G1ON, the G1X 4 does a good job of imitating the touch and volume control dynamics of a cranked tube amp at any volume. I really like the Deluxe Reverb, AC30 and DC30 simulations. The G1ON has more vintage style amp types to choose from, and in that regard it is more useful to e. Two kinds of spring reverb, one eats up a lot of memory but really sounds lush like an external unit along with the other types (room, plate, hall, church, etc.). Tremolo is built into the Fender models that have tremolo along with a couple of very configurable trems and rotating speaker effects. The G1 4 does NOT have the Z Organ effect the G1ON does, boo hoo. Beyond that, there are tons of effects to play with and they all sound good to my ears. I currently have 3 small amp setups. 1. Quilter 101 mini docked in their 10" BlockDock cab. 2. Quilter MicroBlock 45 pedal teamed with a 5E3 pine cab with a Emi Legend 12" and 3. an old Carvin SX50 1×12". I can get all three do to do the Deluxe Reverb,Vox AC15/30, E and F series Tweed tones that don't make me miss my tube amps. Wish I would have had the G1ON and the 17.7lb Quilter 1×10" combo back when I was in a blues band and gigging. Interface improvements from the G1ON… Improved display allows for more descriptive/longer patch names. Four pots act as master vol, bass, middle, treble during performance mode for global tone and volume tweeking. The four pots also make adjusting settings easier. For several years now, my pedalboard has had only ONE guitar "FX" pedal. First it was the G1Xon. Now it's the G1Xfour. I play both acoustic AND electric thru the pedal, and they BOTH sound great! Though I've played for over 40 years, I'm not a professional musician and rarely play out; but I do play a lot at home and IMO this is the best VALUE "name brand" guitar multi-FX pedal on the market. This unit is just incredible. I've been playing since the early 70's and with all the equipment that I've owned I really think the GT100 has possibly impressed me more than anything I've bought! There's some wonderful preset sounds in this tone monster and it's easy to edit the one's that you like. If you're already proficient at programming pedals then this one will be a dream for you to manipulate. This isn't my first multi effects pedal but I don't enjoy programming and this is by far the easiest to program of the one's I've owned. I can't say enough about the sound of this thing. It has every tone that you could ever need. It's extremely quiet too. I'm definitely glad that I made this purchase. I can see a lasting relationship building!Alan

Overall: I picked this up knowing it was at the end of it's market life, but I wanted to finally own one. COSM is starting to feel a little old, but it's still an amazing pedalboard. The amp modeling is good, especially the clean tones. The distortion can get a little "digital" sounding, but it's still very usable. The effects are top notch, especially the delay and reverb. What attracted me to this product was the routing options, specifically USB. I do a lot of home recording on my DAW and an underappreciated feature of this board is the ability to record both a dry and wet signal to your DAW at the same time. Reamping (routing the signal out of your DAW back into the device for processing after recording) is a great tool and something that is not found in a lot of boards. It really gives this kit an extended life off the stage and in the studio. 6 years after launch this is still a great product!Allan

Sturdy unit full of good quality effects. This is the first "cheap" unit that has impressed me with its pre amps. It even manages a passable vox sound that others at this price point fail to achieve. My favourite things about this unit are as follows : 1. The amount of usable presets out the box. Even the more whacky ones can generally be quickly tweaked into something usable. Other brands tend to fill their presets with ridiculous over the top high gain, and what I would call low budget sci-fi sound effects. Boss have done a good job with the GT1. 2. Ease of editing. While you can access the effects chain easily through the menu system, the buttons along the top physically represent a typical effects chain. Press and hold for a second on any one and you are straight into the effect behind it for easy editing or changing to a different effect. Negatives: lack of an on/off switch. It switches on by plugging in an instrument cable – minor annoyance but that's just me. Only other thing is no battery indicator, and I seriously doubt the 7hr battery life claim. The supplied ones died after about 2-3 hrs and the duracells I replaced them with haven't fared much better. I do have a power supply but wanted to see how the battery's would hold up if I had to do a gig on them. Probably wouldn't trust them and would carry two sets as backup rather than one.David B.

This is overall a great pedal. This will give you a wide variety of tones and effects that you can personalize for whatever music you play. Other pedals will offer maybe one tone and you may have to try different ones and might not be happy with them or have to buy multiple ones and spend lots of money to have a well set up pedal board. You can literally spend all day picking out distortion pedals and feel lost on where to go. With this you can go through a wide variety and set it up however you want and save the settings. This isn't some plug and play kinda pedal. You will need to spend time with it and get to know it. It is kinda confusing and there are YouTube videos that help as well. The sounds are decent for the price. I downloaded all three pdfs are they are basically useless when it comes to setting up patches, adding an external pedal and the overall operation. I gave up on trying to assign functions to the FS-6 I bought with it. There are no real explications how to use the 6 assignment functions. I think the headphone output is mono as I can only hear in one ear. You can get some decent patches off of tone exchange I'll probably sell it .Kenneth

Delivers six different ways to color tone in a single box, for a rock-bottom price. You can use one at at time, which is really no drawback– just buy another one of these if you want to chain them. Experienced pedal users may have effects that are superior. But I'm a low-rent guy in a high-stress world, with no prior experience in pedals or tone shaping, and for me this is a gem. Instant therapy. A lot of fun, finding sounds that I've heard on songs and always wondered how people made them. I don't find it to be very noisy at the volumes employed in my apartment (duh), and a noise gate in my chain makes it virtually silent. The build quality is not an issue for me, at least so far. I won't be abusing it, and for the price, if I somehow manage to break the case… it's not a tragedy. It's a cool box for people like me who want inexpensive access to the world of effects. This is a very good unit for it's price. I purchased it for my "little" amp when I go to friends place's to jam. My "big" amp has the same effects in it & are better. However, it does do the job I purchased it for. It is well made in China under German supervision. The Germans don't do rubbish products & that's what made me check it out. I'm not complaining about it at all, this is one of those "horses for courses" items. I have another pedal that does what this one does & more but it cost three times what this did. I'd recommend this to anyone that wants those effects but doesn't want to pay close to $200. My last remark is "you can't beat it for the price"Roger R.

Recently downsized my Fractal (Axe-fx) live rig into this little unit. I've had it now for about a month and i'm really happy with it. It does everything i hoped it would and the tones i'm able to pull are great. The built in presets are a really great place to start and you can dial in your 'sound' even more with the many effects available. The touchscreen is an awesome feature but i'm really happy with the computer editing capabilities, as that's what i'm used to. The build quality is actually really strong and the built in exp pedal is super solid too. And it's small, like.. smaller than my keyboard! Perfect for carrying around to shows! I was also able to get this really cheap compared to it's competition. There's even an Ampero gig bag that you can purchase separately that is fantastic. Cheers!Barak B.

I have been VERY impressed with the Hotone Ampero so far. I have no idea how they were able to create such an amazing product for such an unbelievable price. It's like a Helix LT shrunken down for about 1/5 of the price and it has the same dual DSP SHARC chips as Helix! The unboxing is similar to an Apple product. Build quality seems very solid. There are tons of AMPS, EFFECTS, and CAB Sims in here! And so far, they all sound great. I've only been through a small % of all this stuff. But I can't wait to see what I can do with it. P.S. I usually use mics, but this unit sounds good run directly into the mixing board thanks to the better than average amp/cab emulators. The overdrive/distortion and chorus algorithms are particularly noteworthy, and the reverb and delays are also more than adequate. Definitely one of the best overall multi-effects pedals I've used, especially in a direct to board capacity. The interface is easy enough to operate, the menus intuitive and , again, the sound is really good. -Better than most, actually.DAVID

I use this pedal between a Rode microphone and an H2n Zoom recorder to introduce Reverb while recording. I also use two Behringer Equalization pedals (one per channel) to reduce the mid-range, so the recording sounds more natural. With these 3 pedals, the mp3 file is ready for production off the recorder, and (I think) the quality is better than if I added Reverb and equalization in post-processing. I love the good sound/low price of Behringer. **** My reverb pedal eats up 9V rechargeable batteries (250mAh). So I used/custom built larger capacity 9V batteries as follows: 1. Li-Ion 9V .5Ah batteries (actually 7.4V, but it works)last 2 times longer. Initial cost = $21 2 batteries & 2bay charger 2. Tenergy 8x 1.2V 2Ah AA Ni-mh in series last 8 times longer. But when the weakest battery in the chain is fully discharged, the poor thing is reverse polarized by the others 7 in series! Fortuntely, I have not noticed deterioration. Initial cost using Tenergy batteries: $24 batteries + $3 8-batt. holder = $27 + $38 for 12bay Tenergy battery charger = $65 3. 2 Tenergy 18650-2600 3.4V 2.6Ah Li-Ion batteries in paralell feeding a boost up converter to get 7.4V at 90% efficiency. Using these batteries in paralell is a must because Li-Ion do not tolerate reverse polarization. The available current is 2.6Ah x 2 batteries x 3.4V/7.4V x 90% = 2.2Ah (about the same as 2. above.) Initial cost $13 batteries +$5 converter +$2 battery holders = $20 plus $15 2 bay intelligent battery charger = $35vpiotet1

Got this to add ambiance to my 1978 PAiA model 1551 Stringz n Things analog string synthesizer. I needed a compact, affordable reverb that had a wide range of settings and stereo input/output capability, since my PAiA is equipped with the optional 1551 sterero output board. The RV600 was the only option I found meeting all those criteria. It's small enough to fit on the shelf that is in front of the keyboard on the PAiA, has two truly discrete channels and lets one set the unit to provide anything from tight slapback reverb to Grand-Canyon like deeply extended resonance. I also like the fact it lets you tweak the tone of the output, which is critical when using a chorus based instrument like the PAiA. I don't have short battery life issues with the RV600, since I power it with a feed from from a small, 5 output "octopus" style 9v wall wart I got on eBay, which also powers a NADY MM-141 mini mixer that lets me adjust the balance of the two final outputs from the RV600. The worst thing I can say about the RV600 is the interaction between the decay and time adjustments is very complex, so it can take time to learn how set this unit to get the precise type of reverb you are looking for. Tiny changes to the Decay setting have a big impact on the sound; in particular, when setting the RV600 to emulate larger spaces (such as "Hall" or "Space") if you start to get "ringing" or if the repeats are too extended, the way to fix that is not to change the decay but instead slowly tweak the time setting. The only other negative — which is more about my whole rig than the RV600 — is using this item in a two channel system does require a rat's nest of cables: two channels of keyboard out to a stereo Ernie Ball volume pedal, then two out of that to the RV600, then two out of that to the NAD MM-141, which then sends the final mix to two separate amps. I also have two cables that go to another Ernie Ball mono volume pedal, which I use to control the keyboard sustain.Mikeythemars

Playing for about 12 years now, and just starting to explore reverb pedals due to a recent amp of mine not having any built in. This pedal has lots of options, but none of them are particularly good – they're not BAD, per se, but neither are they anything worth writing home about. Yeah, it will add some ambient thickness to your sounds, but it's nothing like a simple reverb build into a decent amp; no amount of tweaking could make this sound like an organic part of my tone. It all sounded like a post-production afterthought to my fundamental tone instead of part of it. A fine option if you're on a very limited budget and can begrudge that kind of sound, though.The Axe Man

Needed a reverb pedal as my recent amp purchase, Marshall Origin 20H does not have onboard reverb. Decent sound from subtle to cavernous. AN expression function on the switch adds more versatility. As a professional recording engineer I've been familiar with TC Electronic for decades. I've used TC Electronic gear for a long time in the studio and have always found it to be the best of the best. However, as a hobbyist guitar player I was not as familiar with TC pedals as I was with pedals by other manufacturers (MXR, Dunlop, Boss, Ibanez, etc…). I've been looking for a good reverb pedal to run in my FX loop because the reverb built into the amp is pre FX Send and since I play with tons of gain I have a gate (TC Sentry – also amazing) in the FX loop and the gate was cutting off the reverb tails. I considered a variety of Reverb pedals but ultimately decided on the TC Hall of Fame 2 for several reasons. First, TC knows reverb, their System 6000 reverb is 13,000 without the remote, 15,000 with the remote. And they are using algorithms from the System 6000 in the Hall of Fame 2 – pretty cool. Additionally, with Tone Print capabilities you get unlimited preset options and the ability to design your own Tone Prints. This is an incredible powerful and amazing sounding pedal. I have been buying and selling multi effects for many years. I loved them all, even the silly ones such as the RP50, 505, ME30..too many. I guess my favorites were the Korg AX3000G(which I thought was ahead of its time) and the Digitech RP500(awesome reverbs, mods and filters),and even some Pods for their amp sims too. Yes yes.. they all had their short comings in different avenues.. Boss reliability is were a part of Ny early playing days since the 80s..and to this day, I use Boss single pedals almost exclusively as my main rig. I just love the simplicity of their individual pedals and this unit is the only one that comes close in terms of the logic of its settings. I love KNOBS, and the ME80 has plenty to go around with. SIMPLICITY is the key . No more scrolling up n down a screen on the floor which I can hardly see. Now is the ME80 the best sounding multi-effect out there? No sir! With all the current technologies which can produce units such as The Kemper, Fractals, Boss GT1000, and other high res IR capable units from Zoom and Line 6(including some very capable Chinese newcomers), the ME80 can be seen as kind of outdated to some, The ME80 is certainly not what the top guns use these days, especially when occupying an arena concert stages I'm sure(but I bet they still use one or two boss pedals in their rig lol)..Also, Let's not forget that the ME80 initial introduction day to the world was just about eight years ago.. shall we? But guess what, it's still alive and kicking! And that is exactly why you still see it here for sake in 2022 ar least until Boss comes out with some new monster that can handle the GT1000 chipsets and adding more KNOBS to its chassis. The ME80 is gorgeous, it sounds good, and it has a personality. It also has more to offer than its predecessors such as the ME50/70..I mean, the addition of a separate footswitch for reverb,EQ and a simple patch recall?? I would recommend this unit for any small club or a tight rehearsal space for a quick setup and a speedy wrap-up after a show, when it's finally time to go home, no patch cables required.I AM KEEPING THIS ONE FOR MYSELF! Till I get to warm up for Bruno Mars(not happening soon lol),My main Boss rig is staying home, and that goes to my crybaby and the Budda volume pedal with all them patch cables entourage.James

I don't want to program guitar effects. I don't want to read cheesy names for effects that I can't immediately recognize or understand. The young people like that stuff but I am old and old school. The ME-80 gives me my old stomp boxes but grouped on a modern platform. It is basically foot pedal controlled with a very nice expression pedal and 8 on-off pedals. The foot pedals work flawlessly. But the thing that makes this unit awesome is the knobs. You can turn a knob, set a value and get instant feedback on what you did and look at it anytime to see what it is set at. If you know stomp boxes then you know exactly how this thing works. It has by my estimation about $4K worth of stomp box effects and amp emulations. Whether you want an old Tube Screamer or a Big Muff Fuzz. This thing has it. And it has many new stomp box effects like the amazing Tera Echo, Harmonist, Freeze and a Looper. It has just about every effect you could want and you can play multiple effects at the same time. As far as I am concerned this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I am an original POD user. I still plug into the POD now and then. But the POD is history. The ME-80 is what I like today. I even commissioned a guy to build me an angled stand to boost up the knobs and pedal to make it easier for me to dial in changes. I had it painted orange to match my Orange Crush 35RT amp where I port the ME-80 output. Lastly, if you insist on being a programmer, they let you do that as well and offer a ton of presets online. You can hook up by USB to your computer and program away. Brilliant. The one down side… you have to buy an AC/DC adaptor for $30 or use up a lot of batteries. Well since I figure that I saved over $3,600 compared to the cost of all these effects bought stand-alone, I happily coughed up the $30.Brianne

Helix is fantastic for all studio musicians. You can construct so many different sounds with it. Since 3.0, the Helix is a complete package as far as guitar processors go: you have all different amps, cabs, effects, acoustic sim, synths, polyphonic transposition, harmonization, oversampling. Lots of in/outs, lots of ways to route it. The workflow is great: you have the computer editor. You can back up/restore your Helix, email the backup to yourself, etc. The Helix can absolutely replace your entire signal chain and be used as the only piece of gear to process your guitar sounds. The same could not be said about the Helix when it was on earlier firmware versions. Now, the Helix itself is very cheaply made. I thought I'd purchase one and never need to use anything ever again– wrong! After about a year of light use, the buttons stopped working reliably, then an LED stopped working. Helix is assembled using cheap Chinese parts that are tiny! For example, the footswitches are not what they appear to be–there are tiny tactile microswitches underneath. The Helix will not withstand nonstop gigging for more than a year, unless it's regularly serviced/cleaned, etc. It's a real shame because it can sound great, but something is always failing, or about to fail.Dimitri

Overall: I just received the Helix Rack yesterday so I only have a few hours in the drivers seat but that's enough to learn how truly awesome this thing is. I've owned a lot of Line 6 products over the last 20 years, in fact I still have a spider V240 and a POD HD Pro X but the Helix is so far out of their league they will probably never get used again in my studio. The design is sleek, easy to navigate, user friendly and just all around beautifully designed. The large full color screen is not only eye catching but makes navigating the menus effortless. Even though I'm modeler savvy, I've had no previous experience with Impulse Responses, in fact, I hadn't even heard of them until I started researching the Helix Rack and quite honestly I didn't think that I would care to use them… Well… I was wrong. It's amazing what these things do for the quality and authenticity of my tones when recording. As I mentioned earlier I only have 2 days under my belt at this point but most of that has been recording scratch tracks just to hear the result of these I.R's. I also love the fact that Line 6 still adds all of the necessary physical knobs and controls to their equipment in the days of everything being digital. The idea that I can play almost uninterrupted while tweaking many different parameters on the unit itself without a pedal is always a selling point for me. Not taking anything away from the foot controller but when I'm seated in front of my rack, using my hands to adjust the unit itself is just somewhat more convenient at times. Next, the user space… I thought that my POD HD Pro X had a lot of space for user presets but It has nothing on the Helix. I will probably never fill all of the user List's or even come close to it but It's always better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it. Also, let me jump back to the large screen again, I have a laptop on which I keep all of my editing software for my studio equipment. I always plug in my Spider V240 and POD and use the Spider V Remote and POD HD Pro X edit software respectfully because in most cases sitting behind my recording console and tweaking my sound is just much easier to do with the computer apps than the equipment. The Helix is the first and only piece of equipment I've owned where the display is laid out and organized in a way that is very similar to a computer or tablet app and so even though I have the Helix Edit app running on my computer right next to me, making adjustments on the front of the Helix Rack in many cases is actually easier and faster than grabbing a mouse and using the comp app. I could write much more describing my total satisfaction thus far but I will wait 'till I have used it for another month or so and update my review at that time. I will leave you with this thought. While conveying my total happiness to my brother last night regarding the Helix Rack, I went so far as to say that I feel that this could be the last guitar processer I ever buy and if not it's pretty close.Fred

Overall: After purchasing – and being mostly disappointed with – modelers from other brands I was hesitant to spend the considerable sum on the GT 1000 core. But after extensive review of specs and sounds on Youtube and a good deal from zZounds I went for it. I purchased it solely for the presets because my past ventures into programming haven't been good. I haven't gotten through all of them yet but unlike all the other units I've tried that have only a very few actually useful preset patches, the GT-1000 has a considerable number of them, going straight into my studio console, flat EQ, no additional processing or effects. The verdict so far: I don't think I'll ever again have to use a microphone to record most guitar parts. Additionally, Boss has kept the noise levels surprisingly down on the hard overdriven patches, also unlike the other units I've mentioned. The only drawback I've found – and it isn't major – is that there is a dearth of straightforward Fender clean sounds without effects. I'm sure there's a way in the internal programming to deal with that but I haven't found it necessary yet. The effects are pristine – very well done. All-in-all, worth the money.Jerry

I sold my Line6 HD500X multi fx board and bought this because there were some effects I wanted, like autoswell and some other aspects of this that I preferred, like the smaller size and the ability to add 2 extra expression pedals was great (the inexpensive Nektar pedals=great). I was able to get sounds I liked, but was frustrated by some limitations to how many duplicate effects I could stack, and there were times when I got frustrated with it. I had an instance when trying to record with a friend when it just wouldn't pair with my MacBook Pro for recording through Logic. And other times when working with effects there would be some non-intuitive things I'd have to relearn how to do. I've been working with similar units like this from back in the day with rack effects, and owned many models of DOD, Digitech, LIne6, Rockman, and Zoom but this was my first Boss multi-effect unit. I tried to love it, and the form factor and size is great, but ultimately moved to the Headrush Pedalboard full size unit. It was between that and the Helix, but the Headrush got me. It's got the best user interface of anything out there, with the touch screen and custom naming for each of the footswitches, and the hands-free editing mode (so easy!). If I could give the Boss GT-1000 3.5 stars, I'd do that, but ultimately, I can't recommend it because for the money, the Headrush blows it away for usability: speed of creating presets, adjusting on the fly when performing, and ability to name the footswitch so you know what each one on a given preset does. The Boss has the advantage only for size and weight and the double external expression pedal jacks. As far as effects, I guess that comes down to personal preference on the specifics, but I'd say they are more similar than they are different. No effects unit out there can compete with the software plugins I use for recording and mixing, so for me, it came down to the best for live, spontaneous control, and that's where the GT-1000 lacked.Matt F

I originally tried the Headrush portable effects unit, and although it was simple to use, the sounds were not as close to the original petals as I was hoping for. I then switched to the HX stop, and although it had great amp emulations, again, most of the pedals did not sound that close to the originals to my ears. Upon switching to the GT 1000 core, the user interface was not as simple, but the tones were by far the closest to the original pedals that I had found. I do not use it for the amp emulations much, although those sound good too. But where this pedal shines for me is saving space on my pedalboard, by being all of the modulation pedals that I could ever want in one box, and they sound very close to the original pedals to my ears. I use it for the Boss chorus CE-2, the tape delay, Space Echo, plate reverb, phaser, flanger, harmonizer, pedal bend, and pitch shift. For all of those it is fantastic and sounds much closer to the originals than the others I tried did. It does have a slightly bigger learning curve to get everything set as compared to some of the others out there, but once you have it dialed in it is super simple to switch back-and-forth. I've had this pedal for about maybe 5 months, great pedal. The best thing to do is to always read your manual because this particular pedal shuts off. That feature is to save you battery power, or just being on too long when you walk away. I hadn't gotten use to that at first. It pays to read the manual to figure out how to do it. But the Selections in where the layout is for the different tones, for rock and roll, blues, heavy metal, and R&B is it great pedal.astringmusic

It' easy to blow an afternoon exploring the wide variety of sounds this pedal can produce. While many of the effects are great there are quite a few duds mixed in there. You just have to play. There doesn't seem to be that much logic as to how the effects are grouped. You really need to write down your favorites. Out of 100 effects I think almost anyone can find 20 that they really like. The looper, even with updated firmware, is way to short to use practically…I use my 75.00 dollar pedal with 3 hrs of loop time. The volume on mine does wonky things, starts out pretty good…then jumps loud…tried it in recording situation….good god no….sounds like a diesel truck… worth about 1/4 the cost….scott monthony

It has been really fun to try the different presets. The harmonies are very nice and clean. To my ear they sound great. I haven't played a gig with it yet….so we will see. There are some basic things that I wish i had known about the interface. Some fundamental orientation videos would be good. I had the most basic problem with not understanding that the buttons were so sensitive. It is almost comical! I would PRESS the button and nothing would happen! But i finally discovered just to TAP the button and everything worked fine. Seriously. Holding the button firmly down did nothing. Just tapping it though… .and it worked as it should. 🙂 Really weird to me! But overall, I think the guitar effects and voice are very good. i'll enjoy this thing I am sure.mhs9417

Really loving this, getting back to playing after about 20 years away, got this multi effects pedal and I’m playing every day, plenty amp sims and effects to play with, got about 5 favourites already, not played about enough with the blank slots so can’t say too much about that. Drum beats are good for jamming along with and keepin time. Love the looper, really cool for dual parts ( I play a lot of iron maiden) and for noodling over your own backing track. Went for this one with the expression pedal, not using it much but that’s probably my style more than anything, it works. I’m using a standard mini usb to power, not tried recording yet, busy playing and having fun. Using headphones mostly, sounds great, put it through my 30 year old Marshall when I get the chance, sounds awesome. Bottom line, I’m just messing about in the spare room, having fun. Not a performer or gigging or anything. This has everything I need/want and the rest. Price is pretty good for what your getting. Should actually get a refund on this. Seemed like a good product but tried to connect with Guitar Lab to add effects. I got connected, added a couple of FX but lost some factory effects that were pretty good (Comp). Then, tried to connect again to get these back but can't connect anymore. Tried 2 computers as well, many times. Anyway, the box is stuck with FX it has now so, not good. Poor product if you can't get it to function properly.Zoom Man

It works well, covers a lot of different effects (including amps and cabinets), and the user interface is pretty easy to learn. There are some limitations in its capabilities (for instance, there's little memory available to add effects unless you uninstall some of the defaults, and some combinations of effects can't be used because it doesn't have enough processing power), but at this price you have to expect that. One thing they could improve without adding cost to the device is the documentation; expect to use your favourite search engine a lot while figuring this thing out.Steve

This is a fine unit that has tremendous functionality and given some time and effort there is almost no tone that cannot be extracted from this unit. Unfortunately Line 6 goes out of their way to make it an unpleasant experience. Unless of course your willing to fork over more money for software that other companies would give you for free, or at least substantially less than Line 6 charges. You shouldn't have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a unit followed by hundreds more for some software to get the most out of it. Line 6 is the worst, but the POD Pro XT is a good unit.recnepsterb

For a nine year old effects floorboard, this is a great value for someone (like me) who wants several effects without spending $100-200 per pedal. Line 6 is generous with this one, Ive only had it two weeks and theres still plenty of sonic discoveries to be had. Cant compare it to Line 6s new units, but this one looks cool, sounds even better. Couldnt care less that it happens to be all modeling, I can plug a bass in, then in the blink of an eye pick up the guitar without unplugging from the bass amp and still get a huge stellar amp tone for ultimate chunder. This is a pretty good bag. The quality is excellent and it looks/feels like it will last quite a while. I bought this for my Line 6 Pod hd500x and it works "ok" for it. The bag could be a bit more snug so the Pod does not flop back and forth when you carry it. Length wise there is extra room and a spacer which allows you to carry some extra cables or a power strip, but I am talking about the snugness on the top and bottom. I may try adding an extra foam pad to see if this helps. I know this bag was not specifically made for the Pod so I can't fault it too much for not fitting 100%. For someone who has recently started learning guitar and not in a position to own a classic or boutique tube amp yet, HX Stomp has transformed my learning experience. While not a cheap pedal to buy its much cheaper that its direct competition but with equal sound quality and flexibility. Its also much cheaper than buying a proper tube amp. Being a new player, it allows me to explore all manner of different amps to find a sound I like so when I eventually do buy a tube amp I’ll know exactly what I like. The size of the unit is just perfect for fitting onto a pedalboard and sounds amazing along with my existing pedals before it in the chain or in the Stomps FX Loop. Matching the tones of the songs I’m leaning is both fun and just amazing how close I can get in a few simple steps. It also lets me experiences how different the guitar feels to play through different style amps. With just simple fretting techniques I’m sounding like I’m an 80’s rock star which is something my small practice amp couldn’t even begin to reproduce. The sound quality and variety of tones available from sweet and clean to pure filth is a complete joy to use. My wife also loves it as she can no longer hear my daily practicing as now playing through headphones is so simple.GARETH W.

This unit is amazing value for money, so many tones available through the choices of effects amps and cabs it is almost overwhelming! There is however an amazing online community of HX Stomp users who share a huge amount of expertise so it was very easy to get up and running with the pedal. Brilliant. Only thing you should be aware of is that sticking it on a pedalboard isn’t the easiest thing in the world, it’s quite highly powered and the connector is non standard so you would need an adaptor to run it on a pedalboard. But again a quick search online will provide all the information you need.Michael H.

This pedal is incredible!! Definitely exceeds my expectations. I have had this pedal almost a month and am still having fun discovering all the different ways it can manipulate the guitar signal! Very compact, in fact, that may be its only downfall. It comes with a power supply so you never have to worry about batteries (unless you want to)! Simple to use – one selector knob for the 11 effects and 3 adjustment knobs for Level, Time, and Tone. If you are looking for a GREAT Reverb pedal, this should be your Number 1 choice!! I've been searching for the right reverb pedal for months now. I was using an audio interface and Ableton and a MIDI pedalboard to control reverb before and I wanted something more compact that wouldn't require me to pull out my laptop every time I want to play. After all this time I came to the determination that I needed a Strymon Big Sky, however the close to $500 price tag kept me looking at other pedals for the time being until I could save up for this. In steps this amazing pedal. I've been a fan of Electro-Harmonix for a while now, having their Canyon, Freeze, and Superego pedal, I have found them to be superb in every way. I had tried the slightly lower cost Holy Grail a while ago, and even though it sounded great, the lack of choice made it a little lackluster. I was pretty certain I should go with the Hall of Fame by TC Electronic, and was actually in the store to purchase that, when I saw the Oceans 11, and thought "I need to try that." The design of it was gorgeous. Strong metal build, with an amazing ocean-esqe image on it. I pull it out, plug it into the test rig they have set up, and immediately was blown away. The sound is as close to a Big Sky as I have seen from any other pedal. With 11 different styles of reverb, including a mix of delay and reverb in some cases, this pedal is just as versatile in my opinion. The reverse reverb is stellar, while the shimmer and poly effect give this big beautiful heavenly sound. On top of having your standard Hall/Plate/Spring settings. This thing really crosses from basic reverb to a shoegaze dream. This is THE BEST reverb pedal at this price point. If you've been wandering aimlessly like I was, wander no further my friend.College Try

Overall: Looking at the G5n as ONLY a guitar multi-effects pedal still makes it well worth the price, but that would be selling it WAY short in terms of what this self-contained digital beast can do. For those of us who also play keyboards, synths, drum machines, and bass, think of this as an entire rack of beautiful effects processing options that open up a whole world of pro tone sculpting possibility. Yes, these effects by themselves do sound digital (because they ARE), but if you start with a good analog sound source and finish with a mic’d up tube amp or quality tube DI, you can capture some serious pro quality sounds with beautifully complex depth and texture. Line6 and Boss both charge significantly more for products that do absolutely NOTHING better than the G5n. So why dump any more money than absolutely necessary into a digital effects unit that you know will become a doorstop eventually anyway? The Zoom G5n delivers every last nuance of the best effects units available on the market today, and it does it all at a price you can afford to replace in a few years. PROS * Equal or better sound quality than competing products from Line6 and Boss, all at a much lower price. * Better and more intuitive user interface than Line6 and Boss competition. * The “ZNR” noise reduction effect performs amazingly well, and can be tweaked perfectly for any application. Especially for those of us who hate unnecessary pickup and amp noise in our recordings, this is worth the price of the entire unit alone. I’ve actually paid the same price as this unit for a Waves noise reduction plugin that I don’t like as much as the one inside the G5n. * No wimpy 12AX7 tube output that everybody knows won't make much difference, and which just becomes a maintenance liability over time. The old G5 had one of these, and Zoom should be applauded for ditching the gimmick. * Takes a huge load off of your DAW in terms of effects plugins. Also, unlike your DAW, you can monitor any instrument through the G5n without any noticeable latency. * The two tone booster dials are great for when you’ve been crafting new patches through headphones, but then you want to plug the G5n into your amp and you’re frustrated because you don’t hear the same frequency balance out of your amp that you did in your headphones (coming directly out of the G5n headphone jack). The two tone booster dials let you tweak the EQ of your frequency response (in a pleasant and natural/analog sounding way) so that your amp sounds accurate tonally to what you were hearing in the headphones. This keeps you from having to save two differently tweaked patches of the same effects chain just so you can hear the correct frequency balance through either your headphones or your amp. CONS * USB recording interface is convenient for recording rough ideas, but not realistic as a pro DI/converter. Luckily the stereo ¼” analog out jacks do a good job of letting you use your tube preamps for DI recording anyway, but it would be nice not to have to pass through an extra layer of D/A conversion if not absolutely necessary. * Amp & cabinet models are excellent tools for tone shaping, but no they don’t sound like the real deal (and no digital emulation ever will if you're listening back through quality DAC). Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean running reasonable gain settings on these amps and cabs into the clean channel of your tube amp can’t still create very impressively detailed recording tones. * Some people have reported that too many effects in a chain causes the DSP chip in the G5n to overload, but I’ve found the only time that happens is when you’re trying to chain multiple amps and cabinet models altogether, and it’s not something you (sonically) should want to attempt anyway. With one amp and one cabinet selected, you can still add a compressor, delay, reverb, and chorus, etc. There's plenty of DSP here to get you into trouble (in a good way). TIP: The modeled amp "heads" ften don’t sound as good as simply running one of the distortion pedals directly into a modeled cabinet. Requires less DSP too.Christopher

When i started looking for a replacement to many analogue fx processors I didn't expect to find anything asa a combo that had good clean output. I tested the GT100,GS80, Line-6 and a few lower level competitors to calibrate usefulness and reliability versus audio clarity using a set of AE-1 Studio Monitors routed through a Fender 100 Series Tube Amp. The results came down to either the Gt100 (which I found a little shallow) versus this Zoom G5n (btw -the G3xn is identical but doesnt have capacity). The thing that sold me on the G5n is its user interface. Simply the best and easiest to program on the fly. It is a lot of fun but you have to discipline what you want to achieve. It comes with a stack of patches but I suggest buyers to check and do the firmware update and get the latest patches (released monthly plus there is an Artist list of User Patches) = 1000's but you'll make your own. It isn't hard. The audio output on this G5n is a lot deeper and if you run the Boost you can get rich warm tone from a digital amp like the Vox 30 I tested. When using a digital combo amp you need turn off all the FX and use the default Amp or find an amp that doesn't distort the clarity from G5n. The Amp FX on the G5n are better through a clean digital setup. Analogues need to make sure head is also clean setup except where you just use G5n for FX and remove Amps from bank. Either way the device is very user friendly for harmony with getting the job done quickly and move on to playing guitar as this is a tool not an instrument.3times3times

The Zoom G5n is an excellent choice for those seeking a multi effect platform or even those wishing to add pedal effects to their guitar tone and who are on a tight budget. Your pedal chain is easily customisable with all parameters visible and tweekable at the turn of a knob. With 5 descent amp Sims which already sound fairly authentic, when edited you can get pretty close to the amps which they are emulating. Purists, or gear snobs will always argue that "you can't beat a real tube amp" or " Kemper, Helix, Axe fx are better" they may offer more but I doubt if they sound 5, 10 or even 20 times better in line with there cost!! For the price of a "boutique" pedal you can have nearly every pedal your ever likely to need, without the need for a bucket load of patch cables!! Several talented guitarists have posted customised patches on YouTube, covering every genre and the most popular/sought after artists tones. Sure I fancied some of its more expensive competitors but I really don't need the ability, nor do I have the time to deep edit such things as individual components within a particular amp or pedal. I simply wanted something which offered the range of tones and could replicate the sounds of my favourite guitarists, then just plug in and play and the G5n does thatand does it very well!! Overall: Finally got another Whammy V after missing my prior one in a "stupid-sell all-great new multi unit dumb idea". Not sure what to say about this pedal as it would seem of the many vids I have seen on it, I cast doubt if anyone really can understand how to use it without having one for a time. I constantly hear this "weeeeoooo" thing and really that might be of use now and then but what nails this pedal for me is the harmonizer mode section. 8va's and 4ths,5ths, utterly amazing. This is not so much a moving the pedal thing as everyone seems to want to do. Most of th etime mine is parked up or dwn for a specific harmony or maybe a sweep of low to high octave, play a version of Dazed and Confused using this and you may just never be the same. The lowered 5th harmonizer mode on this puppy is probably one of the best all time tones I have ever had the pleasure of playing. A harmonizer, with no set key or scale restriction, polyphonic tracking, true bypass, I'd pay more just for that. The DT model is cool but I am not really doing step tuning variants. Anyway, this pedal is sooooo much better than what you will hear being done on typical vids. Mastering this puppy will afford you a range of really cool tone possibilities nothing else can muster. Those who hate this pedal suffer from the terrible videos of it or the old models that glitch and burble from only being monophonic tracking. The buffer has been removed and this is improved poly tracking tech! Full bandwidth 1M ohm and out. Simply no comparison tech wise to the previous models.Whambam

I love how certain players use this pedal. Bucketed is the absolute master of the Digitech Whammy. I like Buckethead and got a whammy to try for myself. The only time I actually use it during performance as a ad-lib bit. The problem is that when its engaged it sucks the life out of your tone. Its like going from an all tube amp to using an iRig to play your guitar through your cell phones speakers. The effects are crazy awesome though. People that don't know gear that hear you play, bug out when they are trying to figure out how in the world you are getting those crazy sounds. The pedal needs recalibrate all the time. For no reason, even when you have the pedal on heel down, when you engage the unit the pitch will shift. The dive bomb effects are crazy for weird rumbling effects. All in all, typical of my experience with Digitech, they aren the best effects tonally. But if you want to go weeeee-ooohhhhh, weed-ohhhhhh a bunch for the fun of it, this is your pedalSpaceman Spiff

Bought this in a heartbeat to replace my Digitech Whammy IV, which is a fantastic pedal but lacks the sound quality and additional features of this latest version: the Whammy V. For the uninitiated: The Digitech Whammy is a versatile pitch-shifting, harmonizer, octave, drop-tune, and chorus pedal used extensively by at least one of your favorite pro guitarists: Johnny Greenwood, Tom Morello, Jack White, Matt Bellamy, Buckethead, and countless others. I use it not just to replicate parts of their songs–Johnny's +2-octave riff in "Just", the solo in "Like a Stone", the "bass" line in "Seven Nation Army"–but in plenty of my own songs, both live and in the studio. The construction is solid and designed for both touring and in-studio use–durable but not too heavy, big but not obnoxious. Next, the upgrades: This new Whammy comes with two huge improvements. The first is true-bypass switching. Previous models are well known for being tone-sucking beasts, and although there is still a noticeable change in your sound when this latest version is on, when it's off it's off. The other massive upgrade is polyphonic tracking while pitch-shifting, which means it can shift entire chords up or down without sounding glitchy or garbled (e.g., "My Iron Lung"). For people who like that glitchy Whammy IV sound and want the option to use it, there's now a Classic/Chords switch which lets you do just that. On the cosmetic side, Digitech renamed a few modes, reorganized the layout, and brought back the Whammy logo on the expression pedal. All of these upgrades are godsends for long-time users. Finally, the drawbacks: First, as always, there is no "intelligent" harmonizer setting, so you're still limited to choosing an interval–4th, 5th, 7th–and not a key–Bb, C#, E–for your harmonies. Also, this latest version keeps the MIDI jack but ditches the dry output, which is a bummer.
