Great little stand for the money. I use it for guitar amps, but also as a desk mic stand, which works great because it has a smaller footprint than the tripod-type models, so your desk real estate doesn't get totally cluttered. The metal foot is heavy enough to balance out even bulky microphones, unless you turn the arm too far sideways. Important: The clasp is strong and holds tight without having to force it. This never works right in flimsy cheapo stands. It's endlessly frustrating when your mic starts wandering downward in the middle of a take. I'm using this on my desk to support an Audio-Technica AT3035 condenser mic for vocal and acoustic guitar recording. It's a nice and stable stand with a very heavy base that prevents it from tipping. The bottom is covered with a rubber anti-slip coating that grips the desk well, but left some black marks on a table it was sitting on. It might be a good idea to wipe the base with a damp cloth before using. The only other minor issue is that the boom tilt-lock could be a bit more positive. You have to tighten it a fair bit to get it locked securely. Not crazy-tight, but more than I'd like. I'm concerned in time the threads could strip. Otherwise, it's an attractive and stable stand for studio applications. It does well supporting a fairly heavy condenser mic, so it should work well with most microphones.Bobbo

Al eens eerder een standaard gekocht voor mijn Peavey Classic 410, maar die was bij nader inzien niet compatibel met mijn versterker. I have a sizable collection of combo amps. I mostly play at home, sitting down and needed a stand to get the amp just off the ground, angled at my head and remove the bass resonance from the floor. It also had to be able to handle both open-back and closed-back amps of widely varying sizes. The K&M has fully adjustable height and tilt making it perfect for anything I see fit to put on it. This is an extremely innovative purpose-built device for micing amps. Very stable. No more unwieldy mic stands taking up too much space and sticking out in weird ways. The space savings are a god-send for home/amateur recording setups, and for micing smaller amps e.g. mini-stacks. I have an HT-5 mini stack from Blackstar, and a Fender Rumble 200. It works great for both… except it really doesn't fit between the cabinets/head on my Blackstar. The device is intended to tuck itself under the carrying handle, and is quite a bit thicker than the clearance between my mini stack components, so I just put the speakers side-by-side for stereo guitar recording and voila problem solved. Was considering knocking a star off for that (since there are promo shots of the device tucked between stack components) but I couldn't bring myself to do it because of how happy I am about the positive aspects of this product. I never got to try it out. It has a solid foot that the stand sits in and it has a tightening bolt go thru the foot eith the stand in the center. Foot does not bend to grip the stand at all so the stand just falls over. Redesign it with a base that will actually tighten to the stand and you would have something. Unfortunately, this mic stand was not functional when it arrived. The bottom portion was stuck and could not be adjusted, even after completely unscrewing the adjustment screw on the bottom. As a result, it can't stand up properly, rendering it basically unusable. I attached images to show what I mean. It seems to arrive in decent to good condition for some other people here, but not for others. It's probably best to just avoid this mic stand. I ordered this mic stand online and had to pick it up at a local Guitar Center store. I am so used to having online orders delivered to my house so, picking it up at the store was kind of a pain. I hoped to get an adapter so that I could mount my Rode shotgun mike to this stand. It took a looooong time to find someone to help me find the adapter. After much looking around the guy, who was very friendly, finally looked it up on google. When he saw a picture of what I needed he said, oh that, we don't have that. When I got home and opened the box I discovered that the screw to tighten the boom extension was broken. I decided that it was much easier to just repair it myself because I certainly didn't want to go back to the store. I've bought plenty of MG branded products over the years – because they've been cheap and decent and I can skimp in non-critical areas. These Stupid Deal mic stands arrived and I was embarrassed for MF. Plastic where there used to be (and should be) metal, parts that don't fit together or stay together, a "MG" sticker slapped on so haphazardly that it was half-peeled and bubbled. I understand that it's a cheap microphone stand. most cost 60 to 250 dollars. With that understood I was slightly shocked at how cheap it was. little to no weight, the threads are actually not made for standard size microphone clips. I've never seen this before, lol. But it did come with one that fits the boom arm. the boom arm has just the one pole, there is no second inner extension so be aware of that. it's a very cheap solution if you only need to have a stand for a microphone. no condenser microphone will work with this stand, its too light, has no counter balance and your mic will fall. so only standard dynamic microphones with this one. all in all it works for the purpose of my cheap mic and will have to purchase a much better stand for my condenser when I get it.David
I do not recommend this. The boom arm will not stay up and you will need to get some wire (perhaps from an old clothes hanger) to wrap around it to make it stay put. I even tried tightening the bolt with a rubber jar gripper…but to no avail. I cannot get it tight enough to hold the boom arm in the position I need it to sing and play the piano. AND put a weight or sand bag at the bottom to keep it from falling over. (I prefer a boom mic stand behind my keyboard piano. My piano is next to a wall and doesn't have enough space to position the tripod legs appropriately so I need to use a weight for that reason). So it you don't mind making those adjustments with wire and possible a weight…go for it. I give it 2 stars since it does fine with the adjustments. The other adjustable parts and mic holder are in fine working order.Kimberly
It is basic and looks like other brands with a few exceptions. Many microphone stands including some between $30-100 are made cheap and don’t last which is why I bought this but the cables clips on this are very cheap hard plastic and broke when I removed them to put a cable in them. I had to tighten it down more than other brands to hold a MXL 990 condenser microphone with floating mount. I will switch to my Shure SM57 on this stand so if it drops I know the Shure will work and buy another stronger stand for the MXL 990. But so far no other issues but microphone stands that are more expensive are 50/50 and if I spend more money I want something that is reliable and last so I’m not sure what to get since I’ve experienced many name brands fail on me.Musician

Started doing 6 months in Florida this year. I am an acoustic Singer-Songwriter. I don't gig that often, but I left my PA up north so I needed something down here. Didn't want to spend a lot, so I went with this stand. I like it, but my roadie, aka wife, loves it because it's very light weight! It's still reasonably stable, though, even with a fully extended boom and an SM-58. It looks good and comes with several cable clips to keep the spaghetti under control. If you are like me and only play a few times a month, this is perfect. If you are gigging every weekend you will want probably want something more heavy duty. I have heavy duty stands that I have had for decades that have not had an easy life and still look and work well. I suspect that this stand might not tolerate that kind of abuse. But, for the money you can't beat it!TB
Stand arrived broken inside a perfectly intact product box and shipping box. The plastic bit that holds the boom was sheared right off. Repaired it myself as it wasn't worth the life energy to get it replaced. I wasn't expecting to get any heavy-duty use out of it, just needed an extra stand for a jam session and was hoping to save a few dollars. I am a home hobbiest. I have often said that no one will ever pay a dime to hear me play music. I did notice when I was given a mixer that I could not play a guitar and hold a microphone at the same time. How lucky to find that Guitar Center had a daily special on these for a pair at a reasonable price. And I happened to already own two microphones. These stands have an adjustable boom. Three legs. This stand is a sturdy stand but lacks ANY adjustment. I use it with a Fishman Loud Box mini and the amps feet sit right on the rails and the power cord is right at the back support, so it fits a little funny but works. Purchased for the Fender Mustang LT50, stand was too small, amp wanted to fall backwards into the rear opening, potentially damaging the speaker cone. Upper arms are not long enough to catch the closing back-plate at the top of the amp. Went with the gator combo amp stand. Solid build on the fender, would work great with an 8 or 10 inch speaker amp. Prefer the gator stand build quality, thats why I gave the Fender stand 4 stars, five star stand are available. They stand up to everything…. from jerks, to falling off stages, to falling off vans and getting hit by cars. They are indestructible. Also I really like the air suspension feature. It helps so that when you have a really heavy mic on there, for instance the Blue Bottle or the Neumann U87, when you adjust the height, the mic doesn't come crashing down as soon as you loosen the clutch. The mic is supported by a hydraulic-like pocket of air that allows the mic to fall slowly and more carefully. Also, the 14" base (which weighs a ton) adds to the stability. The three piece clutch is outstanding!I have a hard time getting off sometimes because it grips so tight. Unlike my other $30 Sam Ash mic stands, the clutch and the entire stand is metal. The clutch on the cheaper mic stand broke when I even remotely touched it. Atlas stands are well worth the price and are BY FAR the best, best looking, most durable mic stands on the market. These stands(MS20) are definitely worth the price over the MS10 and MS12. These are the way to go.
I have had an Atlas stand for almost 40 years that still works. I bought four of these after selling off a slew of the thin tube tripods that suck and take up too much floor space. Everything on these units are very heavy duty, including the clutches for height adjustments. I also bought four of the Atlas PB21X for each stand because having the booms makes the stands the most versatile they can be. These are NOT inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. They are very weighty, but that is not a negative. It is why I bought them. I bought the chrome ones and they look great and are very well plated. If you want only the best, get the M20's. Quality is about what you would expect given the price. Fairly stable if you don't plan to put it through a great deal of abuse. At the same time I bought this one, I also bought the model with the telescoping boom…not a good idea. The mechanism that "locks" in the telescoping portion doesn't hold tight enough, and your mic will rotate on its own. This model however serves its purpose much better.Racer X
Great Short Stand!!! It does work for the regular mic use. It's not as great as the K&M's but it does work the way I want it to. After I purchased this from American Musical, I found these same stands for $21.99 near my area. So in other words, I think I paid extra money at American Musical. Overall, these boom stands do work and they are decent but little overpriced, especially when I found it cheaper near by my area. I would recommend this. The reason I gave this one star less is because of the price as I mentioned above.Alex
Bought two to mic kick and snare. Better quality than what I was expecting for the price! Perfect for my snare, but I had to buy an extra boom arm to put on the end of this to get a mic well into my kick because the port hole is low, like at 4:00. The stand had no problem dealing with the extra weight. So far I've had good luck with OnStage stands.Rob

I've had two of these for several years now, and they've always worked great, both in the studio and on stage. I'm sure there are some fat speaker cabs the "regular" CG won't fit (which is why they make the XL) but so far I've used them on a wide variety of amps and haven't had an issue yet. One review mentioned they won't fit a standard Marshal 4×12 cab. I don't know what's up with his setup, but I've used one on a Marshal for years now. And a little 1×12 Blues Jr. And tons of in-between combos. Here's another GREAT use for them: I use one on my cajon all the time. Like, every gig I play. Once you get it adjusted right, it puts the mic (usually an Audix D2, but it also works fine with a 57 or whatever) in the perfect spot, at the perfect angle. And if you lean back when you play (as many of us do) the mic moves with the cajon so the sound doesn't change. Same if you scoot the cajon forward or backward on the stage or whatever. Nothing is perfect, but for 90% of all amps (and – so far – every cajon I've tried it on), they work GREAT.Mark
I wish thins thing worked properly…it WOULD be an excellent product! It's very hard to tighten or loosen, and even when fully tightened it doesn't stay in place well… sagging down, which forces you to loosen and tighten it again, which is very difficult. If you're going for precise mic placement, forget it! To top it off, it's too short to use properly with an SM57 (THE most popular guitar cab mic! Really Audix?!!) and you can't adjust the length, which I don't get at all. If you're going to make one of these, make it adjustable, like a mic stand! These things are great; I used it on my Peavey 6505/5150 2×12 combo amp. IT also fits my Peavey 4×12 Straight Cabinet, and my Line6 4×12 slant cab. Any standard size 4×12 it should fit, as well as most 2×12 combos. It mics the bottom speakers, but I guess you could mount it on top and mic the top speakers. IMPORTANT: It is thin enough that it will fit in the gap between 2 stacked cabinets. I actually have my 2×12 Peavey combo sitting on top of a straight 4×12 cabinet, and it fits perfectly. The threads fit a standard mic clip, I used a SHURE copy plastic clip and it fits fine. There is a locking nut so you can angle the clip and lock it firm once you have it in position. The grabber part is on a spring, it does not lock down (or I did not try, it might), but the spring tension is strong enough I don't think it will move. I think there are also cable clips, but I am not routing my mic wire through the cabinet. Overall, I love mine. I will get a 2nd soon. My only grip is that I wish they offered a 2 pack for $50 or $60. At $50 apiece, I considered making one myself for a fraction of the cost out of a pipe clamp and some Home Depot supplies. I have owned one of these for nearly 20 years. It has traveled most of the continent of North America, and the Caribbean. It has held everything from a tiny, orange Roland Cube 60, to an old Ampeg VT22 with EVM12L's. Never once did it complain, strain, or break down! I see that the current model folds down to about 18 in. …. I guess they've redesigned it a bit, because mine folds to 15 in. But, heck…..nitpicking! Great, great product. This is amp stand's design is great. It folds up and doesn't take much up room at all. I could actually store it in the bottom of my speaker cabinet on my amp. THE PROBLEM: it's very cheaply made. I've only had it for 2 months and it's broke in two different places. The parts that broke were plastic DUHH! If these pieces had been metal… I wouldn't be writing this negative review. Instead I would be writing a 5 star review. If you're looking for an adjustable desktop stand, this is the one to get. It is affordable, sturdy, and does not take up much space. It will attach to an AT2035 with the stock AT shock mount out of the box and is nowhere near tipping over. Easily able to attach any typical pop filter as well. No reason to spend more for this same category.
There's not much to say about a microphone stand, especially one that isn't a piece of garbage. This one does exactly what the BINGO group that uses my community center needs it to do. I attached On-stage brand flanges to the bottom of the speakers and screwed them on these microphone stands. As a result, I have placed speakers on the same level with my ears and uncluttered the desk surface. It improved sound perception especially when I work with height-adjustable standing desk. This stand is designed to be adjusted with only one hand. It allows you to protect your instrument while you adjust the stand "quickly" and "easily" to suit your preference. The average time required to make an "extreme" adjustment to this stand is about two seconds. Conventional stands frequently require using both hands to adjust. I first used this Hercules Tilt Microphone Stand whist performing in Vegas. I really love the simplicity of it, and the expedience in which it can be adjusted. I'm a 5'2" female vocalist, and often perform as a "special guest", so having to adjust someone else's mic from 'normal' to what my bandmates and I call "Frodo Baggins" height can be tedious. With the 'grip' height adjustment and the tilt option, I can easily set it to my height, and re-adjust it when I've finished. This stand was great right out of the box. Setup took mere seconds. The vertical post is held between friction pads on the base, no tools needed, just set it and forget it. The stand comes with a mic clip, so no need to buy one unless you prefer a different style of clip. You can use the stand set to 90 degrees to the floor like a standard mic stand, or tilt it towards you at an angle, and that is the really cool feature. It has plenty of reach and height to clear your guitar and present the mic at a comfortable height without a boom. I would not recommend this stand for vocalist who like to swing their mic stand around or use it like a dancer's pole.
