I traced it to the jack on the bottom of the unit where the line from the input jack plugged in. I can't move my guitar without the noise. I’ve been searching for multi effects/DI pedal to compliment my Weissenborn style acoustic guitar. My sound hole passive pickup does a great job except for a somewhat weak output. Enter The Zoom AC-3 to the rescue. Now I have output headroom to spare. Everything about it is top shelf. Extremely flexible effects (kudos to ZOOM for using knobs rather than menu driven). And, it’s build quality is terrific. Very solid unit. I’m very glad I decided to try the ZOOM AC-3. BTW, the AMS payment options are unbeatable!SC n NC
I needed a DI box that could also boost the signal to the PA for solos and the Zoom does that well; the stage tuner is helpful, though I still use headstock tuners from habit and have accidentally muted my guitar stepping on the tuner switch when I wanted the boost switch. Providing presets for guitar body style should be useful, but once an effect is chosen I'll likely stick with it and use the equalizer knobs instead. Rarely use reverb playing with other instruments through the PA. The anti-feedback function and lift button haven't been needed though that was a big problem with my old DI box. Not using batteries, but two AA ones probably wouldn't last long.Mike

The other effects sound amazing too, but I love the tape delay. What is amazing about this pedal is that it gets your little nuances and fixes them by smoothing them over. The Mooer Acoustikar does pretty good. Take little tweaks to get it to do what it will do. Use it with my Gretsch hollow body electric g5122. I use the Acoustikar for rhythm and use the bridge pickup to help clarity and set the Acoustikar flat with the selector switch to normal or jumbo. Look, if you REALLY have to have a Martin D-45 sound, guess what Of course this pedal will never do that. BUT, if you need something that sounds somewhat acoustic-like in a band mix and don't want to carry an extra (not to mention fragile) instrument, then this will work just fine. Not authentic, not great, not amazingly life-like, just FINE. With realistic expectations this pedal is as good as any for what it intends to do. I use this in an A/B/Y rig. Tha A side goes to my regular pedalboard and amps. The B side goes to this pedal and a volume pedal direct to FOH via a direct box. I get the "acoustic" sound fed back to me through my monitor (or ears if that applies occasionally). I can have straight electric, straight "acoustic", or use the Y option to blend the two to my liking. Works for me, YMMV. I play "for-hire" mostly and my clients love the versatility of my setup. Also, DO NOT run this pedal through a tube amp if you want the best results. It will definitely work best either run straight to FOH or through a clean solid-state amp. Overall: Here's it in a nutshell, if you have a song or two to play onstage it can work but won't be a great sound. Positive features are response time doesn't lag, and it does have a reverb feature. If you like the sound and feel of an acoustic you won't like this. To say you wouldn't bring an acoustic to a gig for fear of it being damaged is kind of lame, maybe keep the expensive acoustic home but take the cheap one, you will get a better sound. I plugged a strat into a clean amps and it sounded better.
Have read many reviews both positive and negative about this pedal. The negatives were not specific but didn't hear their guitar and amp give an acoustic sound with this pedal. The positives were sometimes vague but they liked it. Then some went on to say they liked it not through a tube amp but through an acoustic amp or a PA system. I HOOKED IT up through a very small practice amp set clean and used the emulation out into a mixer then into a low power full range PA type system. Sounded excellent with neck single coil. Didn't try it with the middle single coil nor the bridge humbucker. I am very happy to have this pedal.Kenmorek

Guitars used: A Martin with minimal electronics, the tone does nothing. Another with LR Baggs more of everything. I have an EQ pedal an Compressor on my acoustic board to begin with. I was interested to see if this pedal basically did the same thing. After switching on and off comparisons I ended up keeping the Rez and taking off my EQ pedal. I could not duplicate what the Rez does with my EQ and Comp pedals. I did back my compressor way down to very light. I could have done without it but I like it. The Rez does kill feedback nicely even when I was sitting directly in front of my amp doing the tests. I got feedback with the pedals when pushing the bass and mids trying to match it but none with the Rez. After running through a bunch of my songs I really liked the new sound and picking dynamics. If you are not a pedal person this is the only pedal you will need at gigs and open mics. It does come with a 9v power supply. Nothing for instructions. I play a Taylor, and even the Expression System can use some help when you are in a live situation, playing through a PA. Many of the other "preamp" type options out there are great, but cost 200 – 300. This box warms up the sound, adds some compression, and just sounds fantastic! Dead simple to use, as it has one adjustment knob. Footswitch turns the unit off/on, but with a hold can mute the signal for guitar changes. Also has the ability to switch the phase in order to get rid of low-end feedback in some situations. Bottom line, the Body Rez is just another example of the innovative folks at TC Electronics. Just after Christmas 2012 I had this installed in my Epiphone EJ200. I usually obsess over things like this for a while, reading review after review of the choices and looking at vids on YouTube. Finally I pulled the trigger on this one, and I must say it's pretty darn impressive. It gives a really really close to true acoustic sound, but where it totally shines is when you throw in a bit of chorus or some other effect. Five minutes ago I was playing along with some bluesy backing tracks through a Vox AD30VT modeling amp. I dialed in a nice jazzy tone, added some delay and I am VERY happy with the sound. I had expected the original batteries to have fizzled by now, but 11 months and hundreds of hours later, they are still good. I do need to mention that they had the price for the passive pickup on the stack of these active ones, which we discovered after it was in my guitar, so I got the deal of the year! I have had an Epiphone EJ200 for a few years now, great guitar, great sound BUT the Shadow e-sonic pickups were not. The under-saddle became very noisy and finally gave up. Been looking for a pick up to amplify my Gibson J45. Love the natural sound of that guitar and wanted something that would stay true to the acoustic tone. Tried the rare earth HB after reading the other reviews and was not disappointed. Absolutely great pu. Keeps as true to the natural sound as anything I've heard. I actually like this better than the factory expression system in my Taylor and I thought that was really good until I heard the Fishman. It's dead quiet too. No hum or feedback due to the humbucking features. You get volume control only with this but I prefer to use the amp to control everything else anyway, so no down side for me as is. I knew the minute I heard this, it was going to stay with the Gibson for good, so I permanently mounted it. Very easy to do if you're handy with tools but not for the faint of heart. You will need to drill out the end pin hole on your guitar to accommodate the end jack and will also need to shorten the lead that's supplied and do some soldering. Take it to a professional if any of this makes you nervous. Was so thrilled, I bought a second one within a week for another acoustic I have and permanently mounted that one too. Just be sure to leave enough lead wire slack to allow you to take the pu out of the hole for battery changes. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to amplify a straight acoustic and wants to stay as true to its original tone as possible.

They said the MojoTone Quiet Coil NC-1 Acoustic Soundhole Pickup sounds natural. I was very surprised to find that it really sounds great. I do not detect that typical soundhole pickup "electric guitar" sound. Very feedback resistant as well. It looks good for what it is also. I like it so much that I decided on a permanent installation on my 000-15SM. Highly recomended. Would I record with it? Probably not on solo guitar, or maybe mixed with mic signal…but in a group setting, yes
Overall: I play regular acoustic gigs, and for the past 10+ years I've used an LR Baggs M1 Active. It's a great pickup. But recently I've been been playing more lead parts than usual, and I found the Baggs to be a little lacking somehow…just not as responsive and balanced as I'd like. I tried several preamp pedals to compensate, but wasn't really happy. On a whim, I decided to try the Mojotone NC-1. Holy cow! It was night and day difference. I mean a HUGE difference. Compared to the Baggs, the NC-1 just sounds bigger, more realistic, more alive and more balanced. It makes the Baggs sound like a piezo in comparison. There is so much more of the sonic spectrum covered. It's absolutely huge and rich. I'll be buying a second one shortly for my other acoustic.
Overall: I put this in my Martin HD-28 and it sounds very much like my guitar. It's really sensitive and I can hear when I tap the top or pickup coming through which I guess is part of the natural tone. I was worried about feedback but cranked through my Bose L1 it was completely silent with absolutely no feedback. This replaced an M-80 because it was unusable at high volumes with feedback and didn't sound nearly as good. I'm very happy with this purchase!

I purchased the Zoom A3 to be used with a Martin HD-28 and a Fishman Loudbox Artist. My desire was to thicken up my sound as I'm the only guitarist in my band. I went looking for a delay/reverb/compression and came home with this on the advice of the store attendant. It was not what I was looking for. BUT it did thicken up my sound. The piezo pickups do a good job of capturing the sound in the Martin, but the A3 really enhances and gives tonal control of what actually goes out to the amp. In addition the onboard effects, while difficult to set up, and nearly impossible to smoothly change during a gig, they offer a great enhancement of sound when used with discretion. Essentially, I use this pedal to sculpt my sound – and then I just leave it on. It's not the same as a multi effect and while they may market it that way, I don't think that should be the intention of the buyer. I have a couple of presets that I cycle through, and then have a Bypass set up. Overall, the A3 is not smooth or easy to use, but the sound is great.Fred
I've been using a Zoom MS-50G for a few months and know the basics of the UI for the A3. Even so it took a little work to figure the A3 out. The manual is written in a way that is really confusing if you don't have the A3 powered up and in your hands at the same time. The A3 gives you two effect slots and one guitar model per patch memory. You control the guitar model target in the patch and you control the description of the source instrument through a knob and switch. Compared to a Fishman Aura, it sounds best at 100% processed mix, which would sound horribly chorus-ie for the Aura. It does a really nice job making my solid body Traveler MkII (LRBaggs Active Element) sound good (it normally sounds mediocre — but for travel you make some compromises) and it takes my RainSong S-OM1000N2 up a notch to (near?) perfection. For the solid body Traveler I went with a D-28 target, and a Yamaha Silent Guitar plus Piezo source. For the RainSong I used the Taylor 314c target and the single cutaway plus Piezo source. A touch of tiled room reverb and the Neumann U87 microphone model (set pointed at the sound hole) nicely fatten up the amplified tone. Now at this point (target guitar model + reverb + microphone model) I've completely consumed all three simultaneous effects, which means no added chorus, delays, etc. without dropping the mic model or the reverb. I am looking for a nice clean signal and don't see that as a limitation for me. I did turn off the auto save feature to make sure I did not trash my saved patches by mistake. There are knobs for equalization and I found a little treble roll-off was good for both of my guitars. The Traveler through the Zoom A3 gives my Telecaster Acoustasonic (Fishman Aura Image Casting equipped "solid body acoustic") a decent run for the money. This little unit is jam packed with features, compressors, delays, reverbs. flangers. chorus, etc and guitar body selection to enhance the sound of the guitar your using, Jumbo, dreadnought. etc. If your an accoustic guitar player wanting to add something special to your performance go no further. It is a very good pedal and at a great price. Is it as good as the competition? Honestly I am not sure as I have yet to make my own IR but the loaded 24 bit IR's sound pretty good and the preamp is very malleable plus it has a very decent reverb. I am glad I gave the NUX Optima a go before I spent two to three times more on the others. This pedal exceeded my expectations for sure. Blending is essential to get the most of of the pedal's offerings. Only thing I did notice is it did not really work well with my Godin A6 Ultra but worked great with my Martin and my Art and Luthier 12 string. For best results use the XLR out. I look forward to creating my own IR's in the near future but even without this feature it is a good buy.chsh_5693
Overall: Before I bought this pedal, my amplified Taylor 224ce Koa Grand Auditorium sounded like cardboard through an acoustic amp. The annoying shrill sounded nothing like my guitar unplugged. I bought the NUX Optima Air on zZounds at a discount because it was used and "blemished." When I received it, it looked new to me. I am super happy with the condition of the unit. I did not notice any scratches or blemishes. The Optima Air made a huge difference. The preamp with an IR loaded (Martin D-45 piezo) made my guitar pleasant on the ears again. I didn't have to spend a lot of time dialing it in. Most of my dials are near 12 o'clock. The E chord sounds beefy and the D chord doesn't grate your brain. I will not amplify my guitar without this pedal!
I’ve only had the pedal a few days and have only cracked the surface of what the pedal is capable of. So far so good. I’ve run an Epiphone, Gretsch and a Martin through the pedal and it adds a whole new sound to each one. I’m very happy with the pedal. It’s fun to hear all the different sounds….! Thanks to AMS for helping out as they always do. They are my “Go To” online music store and have been since I started to playing again after my retirement in 2017….Rock on…!
