I tried these strings on copy of an ES-335 style guitar. The pickups are not as alive as I would like. The strings appeared to add energy to the pickup and resonate well. The best sounding and feeling strings I have ever used. Most of my guitars have vintage powered pickups and these strings are extremely clear sounding. They sound great on my Strats and Teles. They sound fantastic on my '61 RI SG and LTD PB 500 (Duncan Alnico II pickups). They still have the "slinky" feel of regular Ernie Ball strings. They seem to last a little longer too. These are great strings. The feel like Slinkys to me, but are a little more slippery. Sustain is fantastic. I wore out a set of DR DDT (11 bottom) so, I put them on my Ibanez GRG121. This guitar has dinky weak humbuckers, but a pinch holds way longer with the strings…to the point that it feels more like upgrading the pickups. Maybe it's placebo, but I could swear they have a tighter swing too. I went thinner than the DDTs (obviously) putting these on and some of the first moment fret butt I got above fret 15 went away. I hardly ever review stuff. Also, it is hard to write a review like this without sounding like a bit of an ass, but here goes: I've been playing for 20+ years. Lots and lots of time spent playing on and off stages in all manner of venues. These strings are hands down and without question absolutely, positively the best strings I have ever played. I have been playing .10-.52's for years and the Stringjoy set just kills. If it wasn't true that I will NEVER buy another brand of strings again, I would say that Stringjoy strings are too good to be good business. I change strings about three times LESS than I used to. And while I used to blow my b or e strings off my guitar routinely during shows, I (almost) never breaks strings now. These things have unparalleled life and longevity and sound snappy gig after gig after gig (well, back when we used to do that sort of thing). We've all played all the major brands. Frankly, I considered them interchangeable and just had dogmatic loyalty to certain brands for no particular reason that would change from time to time (availability?). If you don't have a lot of playing time under your belt bending strings and playing hard, you may not notice how good Stringjoy strings are. If you are a serious player, do yourself a favor and get a set (Hell, get 10 sets). You might not notice the difference immediately, but you'll notice the following month when you haven't broken a string and they sound just as good as they did when you strapped 'em on. Silk ans Steel strings seen to have less tension a smoother feel and sound mellow. I use them on my parlor guitar and they are plenty loud. I fell back in love with my parlor guitar after putting silk and steel strings on. I still use EXP17's on my dreadnought and different sizes on my electrics like heavy tops on my 335 and 10's on the tele and about to try 7's on my strat. I think guitars are all different and need strings that match the guitar and the style of your playing. I have no problem going from one gauge to another. Most of my practice is on the acoustic with the 13-56 tuned Eb, then when I pick up another guitar It seems to be faster and easier along with being more fun if that's possible. I love D'Addario strings sorry now spending so much money on trying other brands. I recommend trying D'Addario silk and steel on any folk/acoustic guitar first!Lewis
I'm no professional. I like to play around the house and I often do solo music in church. I tend to only play acoustic guitar because I love the sound. However, the 80/20's make me want to vomit both in sound and feel. These strings take anything you play and transform it into a smooth and beautiful piece of art. They feel wonderful, very soft but still very present. They sound so warm, but also articulate every sound. I play finger style and bought the strings to cut down on or eliminate finger scraping noise; the packaging states "virtually no finger noise." The claim is not accurate. Whether with my fretting hand (left) or plucking hand (right), the strings are only slightly less noisy than any other round-wound strings I've ever played. The finger scrapes were louder than the finger scrape noise I'm still getting from D'Addario flat tops. I am replacing these strings with flat wound strings. The manufacturer's claim of "virtually no finger noise" was misleading and I wasted my time and money. I do not recommend these strings for fingerstyle play. For any other style of play, the strings are like any others and it is a matter of the tone you are looking for. These are mellow and easy to bend.

This is the 3rd action gauge I've purchased, after returning the first two because they were inaccurate. This gauge is accurate and feels solid. My only gripe is what appears to be a typo on the back of the gauge, 'guitar' is spelt 'giutar' three times. The measurements are also etched into the steel, unlike the other gauges where they were printed on. 10 seems steep for a bit it steel with some measurements etched into it, but after trying to cheap out and getting a faulty gauge twice I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this.axdx9x

I’ve been playing guitar for over 40 years, performing in several bands on rhythm and lead electric guitar. I currently mostly play a PRS Custom 24, a Fender Strat Elite and a couple ESP’s I’m fond of. I have always used the ‘big name, low cost’ strings until I decided to give Stringjoy a try and see if there is really any difference. I was blown away. The strings are smooth as silk, feel consistent up and down the neck and from low E to high E, and they stay in tune much better than any of my previous strings. I usually use my fingernail to run along the underside of the thinnest E string, to feel for bumps in the string caused by the frets. It’s a quick way to check to see if it’s time to change strings. After 2+ weeks of daily play, I feel very little fret indentation on the Stringjoy strings, much longer than I am used to. I find myself picking up the guitar more often, getting more creative, and figuring out leads I hadn’t pulled off before. first thing you notice upon opening the package is the ball end and wrap of the string. the wrap goes right up to the ball end with NO slack (if you look at commercial grade brands the ball is loose and the wraps look weak) the length is extra long so you have plenty of sting for any scale neck the balance of the light 10’s is different in that the 48 on the low E looks like it would be heavy at first however, when you string ur ax up you notice a FULL rich tone and the stings feel very strong under your fingers. They bend with ease and the 48 does NOT feel heavy at all! although they are not “coated†the very tight wrap of the winding gives a smooth and fast feel similar to a coated sting. a HUGE plus for a guy that likes coated strings and is converting over! after giving them a proper stretch I tried to intentionally knock them out of tune with a heavy hand while playing both rhythm and lead playing….they stayed perfectly in tune put my freshly strung ax in my gig bag and headed out to my gig (hour away)..took it out once arrived, was still in tune…played the gig…stayed in tune… woke up the next morning and grabbed my guitar for my morning strum and some coffee…you guessed it…STILL in tune! Extremely musical and beefy tone from StringJoy! Everyone should really try these, its tricky to describe with words but no doubt, any guitar player would feel and hear the difference IMMEDIATELY! I have used various D'Addario strings since the early 80s. I was 'aware' of them in the 70s but I typically used Fender strings on electrics and Martin on acoustics. I have always maintained that D'Addario strings are cheap, plentiful, and get the job done. The argument could be made that there are better strings out there ("boutique" strings) but D'Addarios are available in any music store and they are consistently good. I think I only had one or two sets where the unwound strings were nasty…. they looked 'kinked' and didn't sound right. One or two sets out of how many hundreds of sets?? As to these particular strings, I have a 1947 Gibson L-5 and it just feels more 'right' with caveman strings. I'm not one of those 30s rhythm players that go runka chunka all day long, I play it like any other guitar, and it begs for heavy strings. D'Addario has them available….not everyone does, ya know. I'm happy with the company's products, across the board.ksdaddy
I bought these for a Little Martin, which was recommended to me as the best way to introduce Nashville tuning to my repertoire, as the smaller scale takes better to high-string tunings. Nashville tuning is sort of a studio trick most often used as a doubling of a standard guitar in order to achieve a 12-string or natural chorusing effect with less playing effort, more mixing possibilities, and no worries about having to down-tune to D to avoid neck or bridge issues due to the tension of most 12-strings (other than Guild models). There aren't many choices for pre-configured Nashville sets (many people put theirs together from individual strings), but this set seems the best balanced of what's available, and is especially designed to work well on short-scale guitars like the Little Martin series. I just wish they also made this in an 80/20 formulation, as I am starting to prefer how that metal combination blends with other instruments in the mix vs. the more modern phosphor bronze formulation. But one could always use 80/20 on the main guitar and get an even richer sound when blended with this phosphor bronze set.

This is a nice package set of guitar strings. You get ten sets in one box. that makes it so nice to not have to keep buying them so often. I really like how they packaged these guitar strings. the outer box is smaller than you would think for ten sets of guitar strings. But instead of having each set of guitar strings in another box individually, they have each set of guitar strings in its own bag, that is sealed. These D'Addario EXL110-3D strings are great! They are bit heavier than the 'slinkys' that my son usually uses, but he really likes these too. They go on easy, and seem strong. They sound amazing! My son has 1 of the 3 sets on his strat, I have one set on my vintage 80's Ibanez, and the third set is a spare in case we break any strings. They give a rich on the lows and bright on the highs tone. They feel good on the fingers, and have the right amount of give. The intonation is excellent and these, apparently D'Addario's best selling strings, will possibly last a long time. I read that the core of these strings is hexagonal in shape, which helps the way the wrap sounds, feels and behaves. These strings have a really nice sustain too, and seem to stay in tune better than other brands we've used. I think these would make a great gift, as they come in a set of 3, but also these are good to stock up on for yourself. We'll definitely be getting more!Kedst123
Bought a 10 pack in 1992. Still have a couple sets left. My main Warmoth partscaster wears the strings out in about 5 years. You read that correctly, i leave those strings on until the winding on the D string wears off. Not that they break. I gig regularly and I use stainless steel frets on my partscasters. Better than expected. Solid tone. Easy to play. Just right. Not too bright, just clean and tight, as a well made set should sound. Lows still great, even at the slightly lighter gauge. Don't get me wrong, they can get plenty bright if you want that. Just that they didn't seem as extra bright as some kinds try to be because they can with all the "super nano ultra special coated infused …but still hand crafted somehow" type stuff. Was never happy with previous sets on my 5 string. With these, I was able to set up with slightly lower action. This alone is worth it on my instrument. Finally, it's the bass it should've always been. Waited way too long to find these. I hope they keep making them. Probably going to order a few extra sets and try to keep a few on hand. Overall: Don't pay any attention to the low price these are great strings. Have used Fender 7250's on all kinds of bass guitars they always sound great and feel good. Been using the 8250-5M set for awhile. Wanted to try a lighter gauge. I get more guitar tones out of these. I was concerned I might overpower them since I'd used medium gauge for a couple of years. These are literally perfect on my Modern Player Jazz Bass V and 2 1993 Jazz Plus Vs. I bought the Modern Player new from Musiciansfriend. I think this light set is the set that it had on it. I use a pick, single and double thumb as well as two finger picking techniques. The E and B strings give a nice low end. I would consider myself a heavy user. Play everyday, perform every weekend. I use to change a set of strings every 3 to 4 days. These last me 4 to 5 months. I said they were expensive, but changing as often as I do, they are actually cheaper (obviously) over time! I love the stringy sound of new strings. These maintain that for a month, sometime two. Last set was on for about six months and were still good, I just didn't trust them to not break after so long, so I changed them.jamrcat

I was surprised to fine this heavy of a guage of strings. I didn't know they existed. The thing about heavy strings is that you have much more ability to play with dynamic resonance – something you can't really get with light guage strings. With these strings, you can play as softly as you wish but when you really want it to "come out" they don't disappoint. I also only play with the fleshy tip of my fingers which melds into the subtle nuances of chord and solo performance.garycgrieve
The package is for C standard, not Drop C as some people mistakenly think…well, I guess you could use them for Drop C if you like veeeery stiff strings. If you want strings for Drop C, I'd suggest a skinny top/heavy bottom set of strings with an 11 up top and a 54 or so on the bottom so the bottom E tuned to C doesn't get floppy and knocked out of tune easily. Anyway, I've been using these for a long time on my USA core line PRS Custom 24 in C standard. They seem fine for going down a half step to B standard and feel fine even up half a step to C# standard. That's as high as I'd tune these strings up, though. I couldn't recommend these strings more!Josh
I have these strings on my schecter c-1 SLS blackjack tuned all the way down to drop A#, and let me tell you, despite being labeled as optimized for drop C, I don't recommend them for that tuning. 11-52s, 12-54s and 11-56s are better for Drop C, but for Drop B and Drop A#, you will not find a better gauge than these on a 25.5 scale length guitar or a 26.5 baritone. The tension is absolutely perfect! It feels like a 10-52 set in E standard with the E string tuned to D! Like with all D'addarios, they are bright, long lasting, they feel smooth and they absolutely love locking tremolos. I can yank my floyd rose all I want and it still will not go out of tune. Since D'addarios are bright as I stated before, they also remain clear under high gain, which I use my marshall JVM on the red channel with a maxon OD as a boost and a peavey 5150. Between the tuning stability, the tension, the reliability, the playability and the string life, you cannot go wrong with these for baritone tunings!Daniel

A colleague of mine turned me on to these, and in particular to this strange gauge of 9.5 – 44. I had struggled in the past with standard 9s on a guitar with high output pickups and a warble-happy whammy bar. I find these strings to handle really nicely, a perfect amount of slick and grip (finger contact) and they positively scream in my current configuration. I've put them on a guitar that I don't play live often, and I find that the strings don't deteriorate over time with the guitar being left in the case. This is very subjective and a question of personal chemistry. I mean, I've seen players go through a pack of the best "long-lasting" string on the market in one night, so it'll always come down to which material lends itself to your handling. I have been using these strings for about a year now, when I had to drop down to 8 gauge strings due to carpal tunnel in my left hand. I wanted to go with a higher quality string since I would be using such a light gauge. The NYXL series does not disappoint. They are extremely flexible, stay in tune, last a really long time and they sound incredible. I had concerns that I would be sacrificing tone, but this has not been the case. This is the first time I tried these D'Addario NYXL strings. I got the nickel wound electric strings, regular light. I think these strings are one of the best I've used. I started playing guitar when I was very young so I've been playing for a lot of years. These nickel wound electric guitar strings are easy to play. The strings are nice on the fingers. Some strings make my finger tips get tuff, but tuff to the point that it affects the preasure I use on the strings. These nickel wound strings don't do that. I have had them on for some time now and none of them broke. I like the tone of the strings. It made tuning the guitar very easy after I strung it. There is something to say about having strings that are easy to string, tune, and have a great tone. If you are playing out some where and a string breaks you need to work kind of fast to get up and playing again. These strings do the trick.penny

I was surprised by the lackluster brightness of the 80/20 strings. Nowhere near what I’m accustomed to with other brands. I realize in production at times an inferior batch can pass through. I may give them another shot someday. I already put the second set on my Gibson maple advanced jumbo and it was the same as the first set. I have no idea what happened unless the strings were improperly packaged as 80/20 when in fact they might have been recorded lain phosphor bronze? In all fairness I only played my guitar maybe 3 times in the first week after putting them on and I keep it on a stand in my home. But the strings I had used in the same way had stayed tuned for weeks. Even in the same playing I found myself constantly retuning between songs and key changes, capo use and the like. OK, since you asked, I'll be candid. I had high hopes for handmade-in-America strings, but honestly I didn't like their sound at all. It's hard to describe, but I thought they sounded lifeless. Maybe too tinny, with weak bass. Didn't seem to have much depth. I played them at a rehearsal right after putting them on, and I didn't like the sound. In fact, a woman commented out of the blue that my guitar didn't sound very good. I play a 1971 Martin D-28. By the time we played the next night, I had taken them off and put on a new set of my usual Martin strings, and she commented, again unprompted, that my guitar sounded a lot better, which was just what I was thinking. I try out lots of guitar strings – phosphor, 80/20, monel, hexagon, octagon, coated, uncoated, famous brands, not famous, and I usually go back to Martin 80/20 uncoated between trying new ones. I like a bright sound, but I also want depth and rich bass. I'm sorry to be so negative about these, but I didn't like the sound. I had been reading about these strings in forums etc and was intrigued. Decided to try a set or two and see what was up. I bought the 10-52 Signatures. Well, I have been using them for a month and a half and all I can say is, believe the hype. The feel great, nice on the fingers, and it seems like the difference in quality of the metal is noticeable. I mean, it feels that way. Maybe it's something else. I don't know but they feel good, hold tune very well and settle in easy right after they're strung up. In six weeks of home playing they have not diminished in tone or tuning stability at all. I have been using Stingjoy string on my 3 Ibanez electric guitars and a 5 string Fender Jazz bass bass for a couple years now. I really cannot comment on the bass strings- I just do not change them often enough. The electric guitars on the other hand I change quite frequently. I have found that the Strinjoy strings make more and a broader sound 'acoustically'- that is with the guitar unplugged, and as I use low to medium output PUPS that 'acoustic' sound translates when plugged in. Over the years I have managed to get a handle on Floyd Rose double locking systems which can offer really solid tuning stability once you do learn how to manage them. With the Stringjoy strings the tuning stability on my FR guitars went from very good to ridiculously solid. Once the a new set of strings are settled in, If I stick to whole tone bends or < and nothing environmental intervenes, I can play 6 plus hours a day and be not need to tune, or if I do it is just to sharpen the high E and perhaps B string occasionally. The tuning stability coupled with the great sound and extended time the strings sound good has made Stringjoy strings my electric guitar strings of choice.Shaun F

Plus they’ve lasted 3 months- a LONG for all the bending I do. This may be partly because I also decided to use the StringJoy string conditioner, a product Ive always stayed away from. (Guitar there were placed on is a Tom Murphy Painted and Aged Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard w/ Brazilian Fretboard) Back in the day, Ernie Ball strings weren't packaged well; they weren't even sealed. If you haven't tried them since their packaging was reinvented, they're definitely worth a look now. Tried D'Addario pure nickel strings, found the wound three to be too low output. I swear the core wire looked like it belonged in acoustic strings. Maybe I got a factory defect, who knows. Gibson strings sound great initially but the 'G' starts to sound dead after a week and the wound strings sound dead and filthy in three weeks. These on the other hand sound marvelous. I have recently come back to playing the guitar, Sax is my primary instrument but I have had my Gibson RD Standard since 1978. I have since increased my heard of guitars to 10 electric guitars and 3 bass guitars. I have come to favor the Ernie Ball lights and super lights on almost all my guitars. I play the 9's on all of my Stratocaster copies and the super lights on the 3/4 size guitars. I have been using the Power Slinkys (11s) for a few years now. I had switched from another brand because the Slinkys made my Strat sound more Straty. After watching a few videos on YouTube about string gauge, I thought I would buy the Regular Slinkys (10s) and see what difference that would make. When I got online to buy I saw that Guitar Center had a sale on 12 packs and since there is a pandemic, I thought it prudent to hoard strings. My logic was that while I may run out of TP, I would never run out of strings for my guitars. Long story short, you cannot go wrong with the tone of 10s. I do like them better than the 11s. They are much clearer in the low end and you get more definition. I have to do less EQing when recording and they just seem to pop better in a mix. The only downside is that they are taking me time to get used to, I play very heavy handed and these are much easier to bend. But I can already see that I have less hand fatigue.Richard

They give a rich on the lows and bright on the highs tone. They feel good on the fingers, and have the right amount of give. The intonation is excellent and these, apparently D'Addario's best selling strings, will possibly last a long time. I read that the core of these strings is hexagonal in shape, which helps the way the wrap sounds, feels and behaves. These strings have a really nice sustain too, and seem to stay in tune better than other brands we've used. I think these would make a great gift, as they come in a set of 3, but also these are good to stock up on for yourself. We'll definitely be getting more!Kedst123
Bought a 10 pack in 1992. Still have a couple sets left. My main Warmoth partscaster wears the strings out in about 5 years. You read that correctly, i leave those strings on until the winding on the D string wears off. Not that they break. I gig regularly and I use stainless steel frets on my partscasters. Daddario not a better string on the market.Spooky
