Although the antique olive was not necessarily my first color choice, it looks amazing in person. The finish is much thinner than the finish on my MIM Standard telecaster or strat – I can very faintly see the join lines and grain through the finish, and the instrument itself is very resonant unplugged. Out of the box, the action was basically perfect – I set intonation and tuning and have not had to adjust saddles or tweak the truss rod at all. The neck profile is very comfortable for me – far more than either the 2002 "American Fat Strat Texas Special" or 2012 American Standard I had previously – hand-filling and substantial without sacrificing easy chording and bending. In terms of tones – it really nails all of the bell-like tones strats have become famous for. I am definitely more a fan of the three pickups individually than the 'in-between' settings, but it also has the 'quack' you want if you are an aficionado of those tones as well. The vibrato is light and easy – I don't do a lot of dive-bombing, but it's perfect for adding a bit of shimmer here and there. I know I'm still in the 'honeymoon' period, but I believe it's going to be a long and happy marriage!Robert
I'm a Gibson player usually – I have a Les Paul Standard Faded from 2005, which has been rewired with a '59 harness, Alnico 2 PU mags and PIO caps (it's an absolute tone monster), and is the yardstick by which I judge all other guitars. 99.9% of the time, nothing comes close. I've never really found a Stratocaster that I felt completely at ease with, or that sounded right to my Gibbo ears. But the American Pro is different. I don't know what they've done with the pickups, but there's loads of soul in them, with tons of dynamics on offer. I never thought I'd say this, but the Strat is fast becoming my favourite guitar. This guitar just sings in all PU positions. It's got a cool '60s vibe to it, but with with higher output – not too high that it loses it's classic tones, but high enough to cut through lots of high gain (if that's your thing). The neck is the new tapered C shape, which is very similar in feel to my '60s LP neck (my hands are too small for the '50s necks), so I felt right at home with it. This guitar will be a lifer for me. I've owned a couple of Stratocaster's over the years and they've never really just felt like me. They're nice enough, just not my thing. I decided to give Fender another shot as I've heard good things about the new ranges and the specs on the American Professional sounded like they were right up my alley. But I was trying to justify that vs the new Mexico made Player series which, on paper, was close enough for several hundred dollars less. Then I stumbled on this deal and my decision was made. Once I got it in hand, the differences were very apparent, the neck feel being the biggest. I love the satin finished back with the gloss finger board. And the new carve is wonderful, not too thick, fits the hand very well…comfort city! The new Tim Shaw designed V Mod pickups sound great, every position is useable from my perspective and Lake Placid blue is spectacular. I never knew I wanted a guitar in Lake Placid blue! It's quickly becoming my favorite behind my Gibson ES-339.Patrick

I've been fasting and praying for years, waiting with the patience of a saint (no pun intended), that this axe would go on clearance. And would you believe it? God has answered my prayers! I immediately placed my order and even payed the extra for 1 day shipping. Figured for once in my life, I'd splurge for expediency. I wanted it fast so that I could play it for Wednesday night service last week. I chose Wednesday night service because it's usually a smaller crowd. I wanted to make sure it was a worthy instrument before wielding it on packed Sunday morning gathering. After the first strum, (ironically it was an open G), nothing will never be the same again here at our church. I felt fiery, electric bolts of energy rush through my wrist, into my hands, and subsequently my fingers. The Spirit was moving to say the least. Sinners began to repent. Droves of backsliders began streaming through the doors. All kinds of people were baptized in the spiritual fire that this guitar produced. I can only imagine that this is the closest thing the the Day of Pentecost since the Day of Pentecost. Please refer to Acts chapter 2, verse 3 in your King James Bible if you need a reference point. Suddenly, after only one song, the pastor told me that he was resigning his position and wanted me to "lead the flock" from now on. Needless to say I accepted his offer. Who am I to argue with a man of God? Unfortunately, I won't be able to play this guitar anymore because of my new pastoral responsibilities. Overall: Beautiful tones, feel abs look. The standard Tele sound, plus the standard Stratocaster tone and more. They truly broke the mold with this guitar. Great pickups(Tele & Strat Noiseless pickups). I can get Clapton tones. Waylon Jennings tones. You name it, this BMF will do it. Stays in tune even after heavy bends and hard playing. It exceeded my expectations plus some. Guess that’s why they call it a Fender Player Plus Nashville Telecaster. I’m almost 41 years old and this is by far the best electric guitar I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning. You will never ever regret purchasing this guitar. All I had to do was put a little tension on the neck and put a set of 10-46 daddario NYXL balanced tension strings. Thinking of moving up to a balanced set of 11-50 NYXL XT’s. Anyway you go, you can’t go wrong. Intonation is still good(don’t know how because I’ve changed the strings trying to find a better sweet spot). I’ll send saying this, this guitar is a steal. Grab one one before there are none left. I’m about to install a drop D tuner like Waylon Jennings had. This guitar is a well kept secret. Soon there won’t be anymore left, I’m glad I have one. Great buying experience! CME does a tremendous job checking the guitar over and making sure it’s totally right. This Fender short run exclusive was exactly what I was looking for! It does what a Jazzmaster is supposed to do … once you take the time to dial in your setup! The setup is a bit tricky for sure because everything has to be balanced and intonated just so to prevent the strings from buzzing on the adjustment screws OR on the bridge itself. It also helps to have the absolute tiniest amount of relief possible in the neck and to raise the bridge and angle it to the sweet spot for ideal string vibration and a high enough break angle to anchor the strings within the slots. Once you do these things and set the pickup height, the guitar truly sings, rocks, plays great, and stays completely in tune, even with serious tremolo arm use! My pickups are set to spec: 3.5 mm on the bass side and 3.2 mm on the treble side. If you aren’t comfortable doing a detailed setup, be prepared to locate a professional. I have set up MANY Fenders so I was able to do it myself in a couple hours of tinkering. The 65 pickups sound amazing! Cleans are shimmery and huge. Dirty sounds are fat and ringing. Perfect for indie and shoegaze styles. You can also roll off the tone for a darker, blues or jazz lead tone and, unlike the original jazzmaster bridge, the strings will stay PUT and allow you to pick hard and bend as much as you like even with 9 gauge. No need for a rhythm circuit in my opinion. This wiring setup keeps it simple, lowers the cost, and still gives you the full Jazzmaster experience. Buy one before they are gone! Love it!Joseph
Liked in the store – on the second day home after purchase I started hearing "scratchy" extraneous noise, which was eliminated when I switched guitars. long story short – took guitar back, the store tech couldn't find the problem so I picked up another one just like the original. Same deal. After second day the scratchiness surfaced. Took the guitar to my usual luthier, who fixed the problem- a lack of shielding under the scratch plate. He also did a pro setup; something I noticed in the store- was needed. Why didn't I get GC tech to set it up? Because I don't trust them anymore. It's set up great now and the manufacturing problem has been repaired, but these MIM models have that defect. I was 2 for 2 on having that issue. Now that am pro has touched it and I paid another $100, I really like the guitar. But way too much trouble to get to this point.Mike

For over 10 years, I've been casually searching for just the right Telecaster. I've tested out many over the years (new and used), and with the wide variety of neck styles on different models and series, I just never found the right one. When Fender announced this 70th Anniversary Broadcaster earlier this year, something told me this might finally be the one. So I decided to roll the dice and order one from MF without first playing one and I'm thrilled to report that it not only met but also exceeded all of my expectations. I was most concerned about the U-shaped neck – not being a fan of so-called "baseball bats" of the early 1950s. It's just slightly more chunky than a modern Tele, but it's extremely comfortable and it only took me about a day to get completely comfortable with it. Now I absolutely love it. The action is perfect and there's no buzzing whatsoever up and down the neck. The Custom Shop Blackguard pick-ups sound fantastic. They are super-hot and give that classic Tele tone. Before playing it, I was a little disappointed that Fender decided to include the wiring kit to duplicate the original Broadcaster blending-mode as a user-installed option instead of wiring it this way at the factory, but after hearing these pick-ups the way they are, I won't be re-wiring it anytime soon. I had mixed emotions about the lacquer finish with the see-through wood grain when looking at the photos online, but in person the guitar looks fantastic. My only reservation is that the lacquer makes the back of the neck a little tacky but over time this should work itself out. I've already noticed that after a week of playing it has already improved. One other thing about this guitar that still amazes me is the weight. It is perfect – not too light and also not a boat anchor hanging around your neck. I also love the custom American-made G&G deluxe tweed case. Do yourself a favor and order this guitar while you still can!Lou Z.
I bought this in order to not duplicate what I left behind during a 3000 mile move last month, after doing enough research to learn that an Esquire is significantly different from a Telecaster. Indeed, this guitars sounds quite different, and in my view can stand in for a Gretsch but with better feel. The chunky neck is vintage and not 70's style as some have stated. I have tiny hands so was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it feels up and down the neck. Not slippery at all either. The natural finish is darker than in the photos, but it's still nice to see pine grain. Heavier shellac than I expected, but it sounds great. Not as much tonal range as other Fenders, but I didn't buy it for that. I'm going to try all-nickel strings when I get it set up, for an even more vintage sound, but it's great with the Fender nickel plated steel strings.mhschmieder

I absolutely LOVE the color scheme (though I wouldn't mind a slightly lighter colored fret board – rosewood or pau ferro)! Everything about this guitar screams quality and attention to detail. It plays well and sounds fantastic! I have a Gibson SG, Epiphone Sheraton, Fender Jazzmaster, and now this Tele Ultra and so far, I think this is the best sounding guitar out of the bunch. It's certainly the best playing and best feeling out of all of them. The Jazzmaster is close, but this Tele simply kills it! Don't sleep on this one, folks.Devin R.

The pickups have everything an electric guitar player could want. They can be warm, or crunchy. The tone is amazing and I am liking the 60s retro C shaped neck. I had mixed emotions about the lacquer finish with the see-through wood grain when looking at the photos online, but in person the guitar looks fantastic. My only reservation is that the lacquer makes the back of the neck a little tacky but over time this should work itself out. I've already noticed that after a week of playing it has already improved. One other thing about this guitar that still amazes me is the weight. It is perfect – not too light and also not a boat anchor hanging around your neck. I also love the custom American-made G&G deluxe tweed case. Do yourself a favor and order this guitar while you still can!Lou Z.

11. Fender Custom Shop Bob Bain Son Of The Gunn Telecaster Butterscotch Blonde

Perhaps the most-heard, yet unmentioned guitarist in history is bob bain. with his trusty telecaster, he created the soundtrack to american pop culture in the latter half of the 20th century, playing on sessions with legendary artists ranging from frank sinatra to quincy jones, and on tv show themes such as “peter gunn” and “mission impossible”. still gigging and swingin’ at 91 years young, even after a 22-year stint in doc severinsen’s renowned tonight show band, bain’s work has influenced almost every guitarist who came along after him, whether they realize it or not. heavily modified to meet the demands of playing every musical style imaginable, bain’s modified telecaster was often imitated, but never recreated—until now. like many session musicians, bain modified his instrument in the name of flexibility and to meet his personal needs. not content with the wealth of stock sounds available, he added a bigsby b-16 tremolo system and placed a humbucking pickup in the neck position. the added sonic flexibility afforded by these mods allowed bain to stretch across genres ranging from rock to jazz to country to pop, in the process rewriting the vocabulary of modern music. other features are stock for a guitar from that era, including the ultra-stable riftsawn maple neck with a ‘53” soft v”-shaped profile, 7.25”-radius fingerboard, black phenolic pickguard, vintage-style tuning machines with fender logo, round string tree and bone nut. includes a hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.

One other thing about this guitar that still amazes me is the weight. It is perfect – not too light and also not a boat anchor hanging around your neck. I bought this in order to not duplicate what I left behind during a 3000 mile move last month, after doing enough research to learn that an Esquire is significantly different from a Telecaster. Indeed, this guitars sounds quite different, and in my view can stand in for a Gretsch but with better feel. The chunky neck is vintage and not 70's style as some have stated. I have tiny hands so was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it feels up and down the neck. Not slippery at all either. The natural finish is darker than in the photos, but it's still nice to see pine grain. Heavier shellac than I expected, but it sounds great. Not as much tonal range as other Fenders, but I didn't buy it for that. I'm going to try all-nickel strings when I get it set up, for an even more vintage sound, but it's great with the Fender nickel plated steel strings.mhschmieder
I finally have a Telecaster, and not just any Tele, but possibly the nicest one I've come across. I absolutely LOVE the color scheme (though I wouldn't mind a slightly lighter colored fret board – rosewood or pau ferro)! Everything about this guitar screams quality and attention to detail. It plays well and sounds fantastic! I have a Gibson SG, Epiphone Sheraton, Fender Jazzmaster, and now this Tele Ultra and so far, I think this is the best sounding guitar out of the bunch. I already own an Am Std Strat and Tele and a G&L Tele all single coil. I wanted to try a humbucker sound and being loyal to Fender, I purchased this guitar. The high quality feel, looks and sound of this guitar were immediately apparent. The sound has a distinct "bite" which is perfect for certain uses with the typical humbucker "growl". The Pearly Gates can get dirty, clean and somewhere in between depending on my settings. Though not made in America, this guitar is not "cheap", corners were not cut. Rock, blues, jazz all sound great. I use to be an "American Made", single coils only snob, but this purchase changed my opinions.GM
Overall: This guitar is a real surprise. It looks absolutely gorgeous. The pictures do not do it justice. It's comfortable to play and the weight is fine even for long gigs. The neck is very comfortable to play and easy to get to the high notes. You can do most any style of music with it. I use it with Fender, Marshall and Boss Katana Amps and it complements them all like they were made for each other. I definitely recommend this guitar to anyone wanting to have a Tele sound and Les Paul style sound all in one great guitar. You get the best of both worlds without paying a fortune for it. I have a Peavey (Steve)Cropper Classic guitar as my daily driver, now sadly discontinued. This Fender HHFMT is perfect as a replacement. It is very light. It looks great. The pickups are powerful and very smooth. It sounds like a tele, it punches shred like my 1960 model, LP Classic. I always wanted the Fender Robben Ford guitar to get that “Talk To Your Daughter” tone which this guitar delivers on brilliantly. It covers the Stevie Ray Vaughn sound and feel, I also think it could handle a set of 12 gauge strings without dropping tuning as the action and play-ability is excellent right out of the box. Sound: The vintage tone noiseless pickups are perfect for what I wanna play on this guitar. All my other are humbuckers, high gain passive and active humbuckers at that, so the vintage tone single coils give me that sound I simply cannot get from my other guitars. Granted, my other guitars have split coil options, but there is a noticeable difference between a split humbucker and a noiseless single coil. Features: The S1 switch serves me no purpose, just turns the tone into mud. Ease of Use: It's not rocket science, but I'm used to 3way pickup selectors, and an all or almost nothing attitude when it comes to my other guitars volume controls, and never touch the tone controls, so for me personally there is a learning curve when it comes to all the tonal possibilities that come with a typical Strat setup.If I could change one thing on the guitar, it would be using 6100 jumbo frets, but generally speaking the guitar is a breeze to play, after a day or so… It's very stiff out of the box.The tremolo has a very nice feel to it, and the pop in arm should be standard on all trems at this point. Quality: The guitar is very well made. This is a professional guitar! Value: This is where my issue is… I just can't see how this guitar is worth $400 more than the Professional series. With everything being made on CNC machines, that little contour on the cutaway and the compound radius fingerboard seem like an unjustified mark up, the only thing on this guitar that should be a logical price mark up are the locking tuners and the pickups, neither of which equate to $400 in parts… But I liked the finishes more, and didn't feel like swapping out tuners and bridge saddles. About 3 weeks ago I bought the Plus Top Stratocaster and I loved the guitar but wanted to upgrade to the Ultra so I started shopping around for one and found one at a different music store down the street for a significantly lower price than what was advertised at the local Guitar Center. So I figured I would have to return my guitar to the store. When I got there I asked about the price match guarantee that Guitar Center provides and I brought it up to them that I found the Cobra Blue Ultra guitar at a lower price at another store and after a few minutes and the manager doing some research he pretty much told me " if you're are going to buy this guitar, I would rather you buy it from us " I was very surprised. In my mind I thinking that he was going to come up with some sort of excuse to not match the price. That is what customer service is all about!!!! Middle finger to other stores! From here on out I am a lifelong customer of Guitar Center. Oh and this guitar is the best of the best!! It's like being handed the keys to a brand new Corvette ( or a Ford Cobra, whichever you prefer). So, hands down the best guitar and the best customer service you could ask for!! This is my third Fender. I previously owned an "standard" Ultra that I traded towards another guitar, and I also currently own a Lincoln Brewster model strat. While those guitars are very good, the Ultra Luxe is next level. The craftsmanship, feel and sound of this guitar truly deserves the "Luxe" name. Before ordering, my biggest concerns were how the stainless steel frets would affect the tone and how the new neck shape would feel. But I have ordered from Musicians Friend off and on since the late 90's and have always had excellent service, so I figured I could return the guitar it I didn't like it. Both concerns were put to rest within moments after plugging in. The tone is definitely that unmistakable Fender strat sound and I had no trouble dialing a nice funk and a very serviceable SRV tone. You can also get a pretty good variety of other tones thanks to the switching. I was kind of expecting a thin neck shape based on reviews/descriptions that I read, but it is pleasantly thick without being too chunky. I can't stand thin Ibanez style necks and thankfully the neck on the Luxe is not like that. It fits the hand nicely. Not a chunky as the Lincoln Brewster model (which I also really like) but feels a little thicker than the neck on the standard Ultra. I believe it has the same bridge found on the standard Ultra model which is the push-in style. So no thread to wear out over time. Overall, I am so happy that I bought this and it has already become my new #1 guitar.Matt

Although the antique olive was not necessarily my first color choice, it looks amazing in person. The finish is much thinner than the finish on my MIM Standard telecaster or strat – I can very faintly see the join lines and grain through the finish, and the instrument itself is very resonant unplugged. Out of the box, the action was basically perfect – I set intonation and tuning and have not had to adjust saddles or tweak the truss rod at all. The neck profile is very comfortable for me – far more than either the 2002 "American Fat Strat Texas Special" or 2012 American Standard I had previously – hand-filling and substantial without sacrificing easy chording and bending. In terms of tones – it really nails all of the bell-like tones strats have become famous for. I am definitely more a fan of the three pickups individually than the 'in-between' settings, but it also has the 'quack' you want if you are an aficionado of those tones as well. The vibrato is light and easy – I don't do a lot of dive-bombing, but it's perfect for adding a bit of shimmer here and there. I know I'm still in the 'honeymoon' period, but I believe it's going to be a long and happy marriage!Robert
I'm a Gibson player usually – I have a Les Paul Standard Faded from 2005, which has been rewired with a '59 harness, Alnico 2 PU mags and PIO caps (it's an absolute tone monster), and is the yardstick by which I judge all other guitars. 99.9% of the time, nothing comes close. I've never really found a Stratocaster that I felt completely at ease with, or that sounded right to my Gibbo ears. But the American Pro is different. I don't know what they've done with the pickups, but there's loads of soul in them, with tons of dynamics on offer. I never thought I'd say this, but the Strat is fast becoming my favourite guitar. This guitar just sings in all PU positions. It's got a cool '60s vibe to it, but with with higher output – not too high that it loses it's classic tones, but high enough to cut through lots of high gain (if that's your thing). The neck is the new tapered C shape, which is very similar in feel to my '60s LP neck (my hands are too small for the '50s necks), so I felt right at home with it. This guitar will be a lifer for me. I decided to give Fender another shot as I've heard good things about the new ranges and the specs on the American Professional sounded like they were right up my alley. But I was trying to justify that vs the new Mexico made Player series which, on paper, was close enough for several hundred dollars less. Then I stumbled on this deal and my decision was made. Once I got it in hand, the differences were very apparent, the neck feel being the biggest. I love the satin finished back with the gloss finger board. And the new carve is wonderful, not too thick, fits the hand very well…comfort city! The new Tim Shaw designed V Mod pickups sound great, every position is useable from my perspective and Lake Placid blue is spectacular. I never knew I wanted a guitar in Lake Placid blue! It's quickly becoming my favorite behind my Gibson ES-339.Patrick

As an avowed stratocaster fanatic, jimi hendrix had many examples pass through his hands. one in particular stood out to him, eventually being graced with a name izabella inspiring the song of the same title. this guitar s most famous appearance was during his august 18th, 1969 performance at woodstock, which featured his incendiary rendition of star spangled banner. fender is proud to present the result: the limited edition jimi hendrix stratocaster, a representation of the way the olympic white stratocaster looked when he strapped it on that monday morning at yasgur s farm and serenaded the rising sun, backed by gypsy sun and the rainbows, bringing his brand of electric church music to the masses. purchased at manny s music in nyc in 68, this guitar (serial number 240981) was slightly modified to reflect hendrix needs as a left-handed player, including being drilled for a strap button on the lower horn a modification reproduced here. this model is period-correct, from the stripeless 60s oval c -shaped maple neck with a 7.25 -radius round-lam maple fingerboard, bearing 21 vintage-style frets. the period-accurate 3-ply parchment pickguard is loaded with a trio of hand-wound 69 strat pickups tied together with vintage-style wiring and a 3-way pickup switch. other features include vintage-style f tuning machines, bone nut and wing string tree. includes deluxe hardshell case, custom strap, custom headband, coiled cable, commemorative booklet and certificate of authenticity.

First the good. Neck is straight, properly fitted, and I really like a set radius as opposed to compound. The D profile feels "right" to me. Set bridge (screws vs pivot) is also a huge plus. Trem bar is a flat profile, where its closer to the body, instead of 2 inches too far out. The bad. Tuning machines are slotted too high, and a little wonky/loose. Fret ends are smooth , but not the cut, if that makes sense. So when you run your fretting hand up or down it'll catch on the burr from not smoothing out the neck side(s). The trem springs are way too loose/springy for an off the shelf guitar. Annnd it's really noisy. I expected some hum from vintage pickups but good god. This is something I'll have to deal with straight away. The gnarly. The sound and playability is simply ok out of the box. Not near enough "quack" for what its designed for. Namely doing Hendrix tunes. Barely there, really. All in all. I kinda knew it was going to take around 3-500 to get it where I wanted it. But it is a great starting point for hot-rodding/customization purposes. The headstock does take some getting used to!Bob
Sweetwater did right by me, setting up my Hendrix signature guitar with loaded pickguard with Seymour Duncan signature Hendrix pickups, bone nut, and pleking. Delivered double boxed, and in tune! Wow! Service was above and beyond at Sweetwater. The tones out of this guitar are killer, that is without any boxes! They have made themselves a lifetime customer! I highly recommend Sweetwater to anyone buying the guitar of your dreams! Thank you Sweetwater! You knocked it out of the park on this one!
Overall: This guitar is modeled after the "Jimi at Woodstock" white Strat, and is a great looking guitar that captures that vibe. But, I also needed something I could gig with. The reverse headstock is great because the longer wound strings have a little more tension, and the shorter G,B, and highE have less tension for great, smooth bends. The C shaped neck isn't super fat, but very comfortable. It gets a lot of attention in a live setting. I actually took mine to Bethel NY and stood on the original Woodstock field, and played "The Star Spangled Banner" on the spot of the original stage with a little battery powered amp. Talk about Bucket List things to do. 😉 A great guitar with vintage tone, easy playability, trem holds tune surprisingly well, not too heavy, and captures that 1969 vibe while being a true gig-worthy guitar. I've only played the guitar a few hours thus far. I think this is a very high quality, well constructed, finished guitar – as good or better than any other guitar I've ever owned (including many other top USA-made guitars). "Out of the Box" the guitar was set up, in tune and played great – l liked it right away. Of course, the new strings quickly went out of tune (stretching), so I re-tuned and reset the Floyd Rose tremolo and it's remained fully in tune. While the pickups probably lack some of the vintage single coil spank, they still possess a wide range vintage and hard rock tones with zero noise. It's not just an Iron Maiden shredder's guitar – it's far more versatile. Personally, I'm not a fan of locking tremolo systems, but could not find a guitar that put together this package of tone / pickups, playability, and price with a non-locking system. That's a personal preference thing I suppose – not a complaint. What I do have a complaint about is that Fender did not include a hard case with this guitar. This is a 'hard case' caliber guitar, even if it's not 'USA Made'. If you're like me and will want to have case, plan on that additional expenditure (Yes, it has a lightly padded gig bag). It also does not have Schaller strap lock compatible strap buttons, like most of the Fenders I have owned in the past. Overall – a great instrument. If you're looking for a Superstrat or even a Stratocaster with fuller humbucking tonal capability, this is a great option that covers a lot of ground – vintage / classic / hard rock.Ron
This guitar has really impressed me, price to performance is amazing. Handling from the logistics company worried me when I saw a whole in the side of the box when it arrived but the box the guitar was in was undamaged and the guitar arrived in perfect condition. The guitar has a very high build quality, better than other Mexican strats I 've seen and played.and the guitar itself plays amazingly. Negative, the flloyd was set to a floating position which is not how it's meant to be set on this guitar, it should be resting on the body like Dave has it. After fixing that though the guitar tuning stability was perfect! Positives: for anyone who loves maiden this guitar won't disappoint, the sounds this guitar makes from cleans to overdrive are spot on and the playability is fantastic, I own a few guitars in various price and tone catagories and this one is the most versatile and is is to play. And as a big fan of Dave and iron maiden this guitar will never leave my collection. EnjoyRichard
Overall: First off I'd like to start by saying I've owned a few $1000 strats over the years,sadly they all had to be sold ! To be honest I had kinda stopped playing for a few years and only owned an acoustic, but was really getting the itch for another electric! I'm not a huge fan of the single coil tone so I was sold on the Dave Murray strat because of the stacked mini humbuckers! I had installed the JB in another strat years ago and lived it! I recieved the guitar in great condition gave it a tuning and started to play it! I was happy with the set of 10's that came installed and knew the Floyd rose would take some time so I didn't change the strings until 40 days after I recieved the guitar! When I did i noticed that instead of the normal 6 screw holes to hold the back plate down there was 12! 6 in use and 6 abandoned and not filled,just ignored! The abandoned holes were the original holes drilled. 1 of those holes was way to close to the edge of the cavity and it blew out into the cavity! Noticing this the installer repositioned the back plate,drilled 6 new holes and installed the screws in the 6 new holes! Quality control should have picked up on this error regardless of anything! After all this is a $1000 strat! I contacted zZounds and they had me return the guitar and quickly refunded the purchase total! I just wish quality inspectors could be trusted! Overall it was a beast of a guitar! I was enjoying it very much,but for the cost it should have been perfect!David

Beautiful guitar. I thought I wanted a Fender Player until I tried the 60s Vintera. Once I tried it I knew it was the one for me! I have small hands and thought on paper that the neck would be too big but I found it way more comfortable for my hands to the slim modern c neck of the player. I also sounds great. This version of Fenders latest incarnation of Stratocaster is simply superb. It feels great, brilliantly built and finished and plays like a dream. I have an American Strat (1980s) which is amazing, and this particular Strat is as good. The action is excellent and the fretboard feels great. I just got a grey aerodyne SSH strat. I've never gelled with a fender before. After playing my first gig with this thing I'm so impressed. The neck is amazing. Looks are a amazing. The weight is perfect. That top contouring is so comfortable. The controls… I thought I would want to swap the metal knobs out for traditional plastic knobs because they were smooth, however I had no issues making adjustments to the volume and tone mid song… and they look amazing. The knobs are staying. The pickups. wow. just wow. The traditional strat sounds are here, but they offer more to my ears. More aggression when I needed it. The neck and middle pickups worked perfectly with that bridge humbucker. Switching to the bridge for leads was so satisfying. The sound guy came over after we finished and complimented my tone. He asked me what pedals I was using, and was surprised when I told him I just used delay and reverb. Everything else was the amp and adjusting the controls. These pickups… even when I roll off the tone they somehow still retain clarity. The right kind of clarity. I've played other strats, even American strats (but never custom shop), and these aerodyne pickups are in a league of their own. Bottom line… I've never bought a guitar and wanted to immediately go out and buy another if the same guitar "just in case" something happens to the first one. This guitar is THAT good.Sam
