Reviews:
For many years, I've heard how great the Kemper is, but the price was a bit daunting. So, I went through different rigs, looking for specific tones. When I needed a different tone, I needed to change my rig. So, I decided to try the modeling rigs. The problem with the modeling rigs is that they are software representations of how the developers/programmers "think" the amp is going to react. For the most part, they do a pretty good job. The downside is that when the modeler gets older, and the development stops, you no longer have any updates, or any new amp models. This is NOT the case with the Kemper. The Kemper is not a modeler, it's a profiler. You profile an amp, and you have the sound in your Kemper. The sound is generated from the Kemper's profiling, which means that it is NOT guitar specific. It comes with a ton of built in effects, so that you can get any sound you are looking for. You basically have a unit that is "future-proof". If an amp comes out in a couple of years, you can profile that amp, and have it in your arsenal. If you think about it, it's pretty much the cheapest amp head on the market, because it's essentially EVERY head on the market. The 3rd party vendors, selling profiles is amazing. You can find any amp that you could ever want. This is the best choice I've ever made. The sound quality blows away anything I have played through before. Simply amazing. I wish I had taken the plunge sooner.lespauled
I played with a $3k pedalboard and a $1200 amp that equaled about 120 lbs of gear. Now I play with $900 worth of pedals (the remote, mission pedal, and a wireless), a $1800 amp at about 35 lbs. The difference now, besides the $$$ saved and weight, is the tone has way more versatility. I am able to play profiles of amps that are worth way more than the kemper and switch guitars without having to tweak much. Its a stellar piece of gear out of the box. I play semi-professional. Its a second job and hobby as well as playing at church.stephentietjen
Recently purchased the Kemper after owning the Axe Fx basic model. Although there are a lot of features the layout is so simple and intuitive that I was able to make adjustments, firmware updates and amp favorites sections in seconds. literally that easy. These types of steps were much more cumbersome if not downright difficult with the Axe Fx. On to the Amp Profiles- well they're not models- each title feels like a breathing reacting amplifier- you literally get 300 to play with right out of the box- but to my amazement, I downloaded the rig manager and was able load into my Kemper another 15 dream amps that the kemper community had posted. By the way, this was 15 out of over 5,500 other amp choices to load! The tones I was able to create in a very short time had me shaking my head. Each amp can be tweaked and the range of tone is amazing. I was able to adjust any amp to a point where i was capturing a great sound and then of course could save that snapshot immediately. I feel that the technology in the Kemper finally has captured what many others have attempted in the amp modeling field. The Kemper is in a class of it's own. This is a no brainer purchase- why buy an amp when you can own this and own every amp exactly as they originally sound, and capture any others with the profiling feature. they say to primitives advanced technology will seem as magic- well, kemper is pure magic to this primitive…Yeszenknow

Reviews:
I bought this used through Guitar Center to boost the output of my Eastman 815 acoustic-electric mandolin, which has an internal microphone but was too quiet. I'm a hobbyist but play in worship settings. I was able to EQ the output to sound like the natural mandolin tone and to boost the volume which was important to me, since, on occasion, I play outdoors or in a large church sanctuary. The tuner is a great asset, making clip-on tuners unnecessary. The tone boost gives the mandolin even more volume for those times when you want to play a solo. The unit runs on a 9V battery or a 9v DC adapter. I happened to own already own a 9v DC adapter, and it gave the unit much more power than the battery, which was great. I definitely recommend getting a 9v DC adapter. This was a good buy!Jamie
From the very first moment I plugged in both my Martin D42 guitar with it's Fishman pickup and my five string Stelling Banjo with the KAVANJO pickup system to their respective LR baggs Venue DI preamp's a smile lit up on my face. The sound, the controlled sound, the natural sound that came out of each device was absolutely wonderful. I would have to say that my banjo sounded incredibly smooth… And the guitar tone was the best I've ever gotten from my Martin D 42. It was a pleasure to listen as a strummed or finger picked each instrument. And you could tell that the audience was listening intently… There was no distortion whatsoever. And I've really just started using the device, and haven't fully dialed in the potential. I'd also read a lot about the tuner not being accurate… Well I have two Petersen tuners… Clamp-ons … one on each instrument and I double checked it with the baggs built-in tuner… And so far it has been spot on. The boost switch is fantastic and the mute couldn't be better. I am completely satisfied and delighted that I purchased one LR Baggs Venue DI for each instrument.
I've got 2 LR Baggs Para DI's and have been wanting to try out the Venue DI. I have a Taylor 814 V Deluxe, Taylor 614 and a Taylor 354. I always bring at least one of the 6 strings and the 12 string when I play. All 3 guitars have different tonal qualities, so I wanted separate DI's with EQing abilities for each. The Paras do very well, but I found the Venue to be quicker to dial in a great acoustic tone and it sounds more transparent to me. I love the boost function too!!! Very well built! Like others who have reviewed, the tuner is slow to respond at times and phantom power would have been nice – otherwise this is a 5-plus stars.

Reviews:
Very helpful staff even while very busy with other customers. Was able to try both the Fender Downtown Express and the Fly Rig V2. Yes the Fly Rig was more expensive but it also had more features. Plus the Downton Express produced a nasty pop when switching the compression in/out and it didn’t have a tuner. Very happy with my Fly Rig purchase and the price match. Thanks!Poida B.
I've had the Liverpool character pedal for a long time. It sounds like a Vox. I've had both versions of the RK5 Fly Rig (still have and gig v2) and the dUg DP3X (gig this one, too). I hadn't heard about this until I got my latest issue of Guitar Player magazine in the mail and these guys are al over the outside back cover ad. I ordered it immediately through Sweetwater. It sounds great! I have the UAFX Ruby, a Quilter Superblock US (shoulda been the UK, I know) and a Mooer GE 300 Lite: all trying to solve the "silent stage" conundrum when I can't bring out my Top Hat or Dr Z or Fender TRRI. But this is the pedal I was waiting YEARS for: XLR and 1/4" outputs for FOH and monitor amp, respectively. Voxy Voxness that's Voxtastic for the convenient, silent stage live application. While the other products are fine in their own capacities (and, to be fair, the Ruby sounds slightly better though digitally noisy in live situations), I would've saved about a thousand bucks had I known this existed. But, um, no built-in tuner. That'll cost ya a star, particularly since the RK5 and the dUg have built-in tuners. (Really, Tech 21?) Totally a keeper!!
I bought this because I'm a huge fan of the RK5 Fly Rig, but I wanted something that was programmable and MIDI controllable, to integrate with my pedalboard. The PSA2 does all that perfectly but it's the sounds that have blown me away. It sounds incredible. Every Marshall tone is achievable and authentic, so are Fender and Mesa tones, and anything in between. And it really responds well to picking dynamics, and when you back off the volume on the guitar it cleans up perfectly. And…it just feels and sounds better than digital – my HX Stomp is now for effects only. I couldn't be happier, it's exactly what I needed. Thoroughly recommended!rossmacrae777

Just get it, its amazing. I have this in a SYN 2 looped into a Helix rack then I push it to a MAC via USB for MIKKO IRs. Absolutely amazing!Mike
I will first start out and say I own the real Uber Rev Blue. That amp has a unique poweramp voicing and is very difficult to dial in. The Synergy Module is much tighter and has more useable gain. You will need to possibly run the treble control at or below noon, which is not a big deal. The Pre EQ (bright cap switches) is very useful and the schizo switches for more tonal options. This module can be used for a variety of tones, from hard rock to molten metal. It's just not only a full blown metal machine but a good overall low to high gain preamp. The XTC amp is my desert island amp, but this module is a close second. It sounds great with 6L6 and EL34 based power amps.Dave
5. Synergy Syn-2 Dual Module Tube Preamp
Product Details:
The synergy rack preamp accommodates 2 modules for a total of 4 channels all controlled with the included midi foot switch (although you can program any midi switch if desired) and access all 4 channels or bypass the system. the best feature is the stereo effects loop. if you ever wanted to run a friedman be or slo in a stereo setup, this is the way to do it! it also features a volume control and a sag control that offers that stiffer or squishier feeling depending on your personal preference.this unit is very clean, from a smoke-free home and was only used at home. the foot switch has a couple of small nicks and the preamp has a couple of marks from when it was installed/removed from the rack case. the front looks new and it functions perfectly. truly a quality piece, built in usa and very flexible for building the "dream rig" you always wanted.

Reviews:
I love this system. It's opened up a world of top quality amps and is inspirational to play. I'm driving and switching via my Helix LT and power amp through a PS2 – superb system.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
I ordered this unit a few months ago to add channels to my Syn-30. I wanted to live with it a bit to assess reliability, tone, interface, etc. Like the reviewer before me, I agree this thing really does live up to the hype. Seamlessly works with EVH 5150III or Sny-30, 50 or any head with a SERIAL effects loop. The tone and feel is unbelievable, like to the extent that I am seriously considering selling a Mesa Triple Rectifier to further my synergy collection. Why? Tone and Feel aside, the cab simulator on this thing is better than I can ever get with a mic in front of a real cab to a PA system, it's quicker to set up, it's quicker to dial in my tone, less peripherals needed (i.e. tons of cables and stompboxes), I really think Synergy changes the game entirely for guitar players. Why get 1 boutique amp and have to hit it with all manner of effects to dial in the tone you hear on albums when this thing gives you all that and more in minutes, saves your back at gigs, and has absolutely inspirational tone? I have had zero problems with reliability so far. Because I run it with a POD HD Rack, I also have one -1- cable on the ground now when I play. So, that's 3 channels on the head, 4 channels in the rack, and seemless channel and FX switching with only one cable required on the floor (in the rack you need 4 cables plus a midi cable to get that switching) to my footswitch and NO CAB needed at gigs. I will also add that I have used Voodoo labs and a Boss ES-8 midi switching system. No programing required with this rig, you press the store button and you are done. That's right, no CC changes, programing etc., which is a major inconvenience of traditional midi switching rigs. I LOVE Synergy.Guitar Nerd Bryan
WOW!! No modeling here and real sustain….Very impressed from the moment I plugged the Syn-2 in. I really like the fact that you can get a tone of different sounds out of the preamp modules. I would highly recommend for guitarists looking for a great live sound without lugging speakers and heavy amps. I use with a Headrush for effects and midi switch the channels and I have everything I need in one small rack and setup time is a couple of minutes. This thing is awesome, try one you will see.Garrett V

I needed an affordable analog stereo pre-amp for a really old 125-watt (RMS) per channel AB-class power amp that's been packed away for a while. These days not only are preamps rare, they are ridiculously expensive, too. Searching around on the web I found a basic component that had all the necessary functions for under $100. Regretfully, it was hideously ugly with a purple and blue paint job on the front panel. Continuing to search I found its functional twin, the OSD Pre-1, with a conservative black front panel in the style of the great audiophile brands. Even better, it had a lower price. Because I live near the company in Brea, CA, I was able to pick it up and save any shipping charges. It's now hooked up and doing exactly what I need it to, i.e., input several sound sources, modify the tone of incoming signals, and regulate volume. It does all of these things without any quirks or audible flaws. As someone, who has owned a number of golden-ear-quality components, I was amazed by the build quality at this price point. The RCA terminals are gold plated and all of the knobs are real electromechanical potentiometers with detents. Plus, there is a turntable input that handles moving magnet phono cartridges, the most common variety. The flexibility to modify tones to the power amp is outstanding. In addition to simple bass and treble knobs, there are midrange and rotary loudness controls. Granted, these are not the same as a graphic equalizer. However, these features make it possible to subtly "sweeten" the output of any speaker in any listening environment when needed. I'm sure someone will grumble that there is no remote control. However, for a sophisticated, aspiring audiophile looking for maximum performance at a rock-bottom price, this is a non-issue. I noticed on the "Questions" page that there were concerns regarding the output voltage from the preamp to the power amp. In my set up it is not a problem. The preamp's output signal is adequately strong so that the overall system performance can be paint-peeling if the volume is really cranked up.BB3
In an era of few budget preamps this one shines. Necessary inputs and controls, nice quality, at a great price. Just wish it had a headphone jack. Ordered directly from OSD–excellent service-fast shipping.Dr. M
I got the Preamp-1 to keep a system going while my Carver preamp is in the shop for repairs. If I were comparing to it, this puts out a third of the volume and more harmonic distortion… not that you're likely to notice. The sound is good, and the controls let you dial in your system the way you like. I've not heard anything close to it in it's price range. If you're on a budget, or just don't want to spend a fortune on a preamp – it's a great deal. There is no sub out on this pre… a set of "Y" cables took care of that. I will keep it even after I get the Carver back as a backup for all of my systems.Moose

The preamp was phasing in and out, the sound was very harsh, the sound engineers ended up disconnecting it and did their own EQ to produce an excellent sound from the k&k pure preamp. An unfortunate experience, I shall be returning it for another, maybe it's just a faulty preamp?Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
pure pre amp was just what i needed to get the best out of my pure pickup and dreadnaught guitar it also improves on the sigma preamp on the 00015 e i bought from andertons a perfect matchReviewed by Andertons Music Co.
I purchased the Preamp for use with my Cello and couldn't be happier. The preamp gives the boost I needed for my own sound system and gives me greater control when I'm connected to other's systems.mtbrend

I'm using the phantom block with my takamine gn93ce and a zedi 10fx mixer… woah it's shaping the and warming the tone beautifully! Thank you AMS… you make the buying process so simple and cost effective I can't afford not to buy my gear with you!!Amy B
I already own a Quilter MicroPro2. I enjoyed recording with it, but was wanting an even easier solution. The Phantom Block is the answer. Just plug your guitar directly (or through your favorite pedals) into the input & output directly to your interface. I use a Tascam Model 12. Fantastic clean tone….the gain did not overdrive as much as I was expecting but not an issue for me.

Brilliant bit of kit ,but if you buy from usa like I did you need to get the transformer changed to uk , it's different voltage. Or use a step down converter. Getting it changed is much better . I did!.damiehughe_98
I've had and played threw alot of gtr processor and pre amps. I know all the hype these days is all about the Kemper profiler amp and the Fractal Audio Axe-fx 11 preamp which are great and sound amazing! But not everyone has that kind of $$$. The Digitech gsp1101 may seem somewhat obsolete to some but it is still a great sounding unit especially for the price! And it is easy to use and configure to any setup. Weather your running it in front of your amp, effects loop, using the gsp1101 preamp threw your amps EFX Rtrn or a P.A. I've always liked digitech and have had many of their smaller gtr processors mainly for practicing so I'm familiar with there layout. Even if you've never used a digitech it is still very easy to use and navigate threw to get great tones very quickly. I absolutely love it and in my opinion it is def one of the best units out there! And the Control 2 foot controler , which is a must have with this unit, is very simple to hook up. You just connect it to the GSP1101 with the ethernet cable and your ready to go! No midi programming is needed. It does have midi capabilities as well if you decide to go that route. Bottom line is its a great unit and you won't find a better unit in that price range.donus-fnnms
Awesome little unit! Fits into a 1u rack space, and a lot of the models are very close sonically to the originals. My personal favorite right now if the Mark IV model, and it doesn't disappoint. If updated to the C63 firmware (www.mustbebeta.com) the unit is excellent, and you get additional models such as a 5150II, Mark IV, Randall RG100, Orange thunderverb and others. While it might seem a little complicated at first, after a few hours you get used to the interface and are easily scrolling the through menus and editing presets. This unit oozes tone and its price/performance ratio is OUTSTANDING! Oh, and did I mention that it works well as a DAW interface? One of my best gear purchases ever!mythraswow16

Reviews:
This module accurately captures the IIc+ tones in a module. It is more accurate than the iic+ mode on my mark v amp. Easily dials in for hard rock or classic old school metal ie Metallica master of puppets. You do need to know how to dial in this type of amp as the tone knobs are pregain but a quick YouTube video should fix that. The only downside is that the tone controls are shared so you probably won’t be able to get the cleanest clean and a super heavy iic rhythm or lead tone simultaneously. On the flips side I have dialed in a great lighter crunch tone and tight metal tone at the same time and then just used a different module for cleans. Highly recommend this one!Howie
The Synergy IICP module exceeded my expectations with its tone and flexibility recreating the famous Mesa MKIIC+. Outstanding quality build and attention to logical panel design for maximum performance.Keep your Iceman cool!
This one sounds amazing. I’m an avid Synergy user, and this one is amazing. The more they release, the better these get.Greg

I've been running solid state amps for 30+ years now. Tried tube amps back in the day (Marshalls, Randalls, Carvins, Fenders, Peaveys, etc…) but it seemed as though they always needed to be in the shop for one reason or another. Solid State was my choice for decades… Well, now here's this single rack space, all-tube power amp – I had to try it. Love it!!! Had the first rehearsal with the band last week and everybody could hear the difference. At first I thought it was just me being happy about a new amp; but, no… I heard it too, and they all said how great the entire room sounded! The SYN5050 has way more dynamic response than any other SS or older Tube amp that I have ever played through. Clean, clear, ballsy – every nuance of my picking comes through. I gave it 4 and a half stars because I need to use it more. Really happy with my set-up at the first 3-hour practice. This weekend I will gig it for 4+hours – more on that later! Try it, you'll like it!
This is one of the best tube power amp if not the best!mammb4234

This pre amp is a beast. I use this with the Syn-1 as an extra channel to my MTS 3200 Head. The gain goes from crunch to beyond Dual recto territory without problem. I use it with an overdrive in front of the pre amp to focus the low end the pre-amp can generate. the blue channel can do a somewhat clean to heavy crunch and the red channel goes from crunch to completely insane with the high gain mode engaged. The amount of territory this module can cover can't be described. I pair it with a Boss Super Overdrive to focus the lows for a high gain tight thrash tone. I love this module and intend to purchase others.Jose
