Overall the product is great. Collapses easily for transport to a gig or rehearsal. Issue I had was the yoke size. I have a hollow body electric bass almost 3" thick so ordered the acoustic version of this product first. But the yoke was too wide and the guitar tipped back and was unstable. I read that this electric guitar version would hold guitars up to 3.5" thick so bought it, but my guitar did not fit. I was able to bend the prongs back in my vise so my guitar now just fits. This stand looks really good, but more importantly it is safe. There are plenty of videos out there with people testing the sturdiness of the stand, and having two younger boys as well as two dogs, I appreciate this. The stand itself is actually pretty simple, which means less too break or fail. But I can tell there was thought put into the safety of the stand with the before mentioned circus level balancing act this thing does. The only thing you might be able to knock it on is the price. But that's what you get when a bigger company slaps there name on it. I do believe this is a lifetime stand, that is on the level of what you might want to see sitting around your house.

I've used one of these before, when a former bandmate of mine had it on stage and let me use one of the holders. I finally bought one for myself, and have only used it at one gig so far. Overall, I'm satisfied with it. However, it seems like it requires some TLC, as the pivoting arms are plastic and feel like they might be a bit on the fragile side. Packing it up also calls for extra care; I transport mine in the box it came in (which includes a handle) because having all my other gear bumping into those plastic arms seems like a bad idea. On the plus side, it does what you want: holds instruments on stage without falling over, and allows you to quickly change instruments. I put a mandolin and a guitar on it. It comes with a pair of cylindrical foam attachments that narrow the holder for smaller instruments like mandolin, and those worked great.Steve D.
A very good product over all, could it be improved, yes, but it's already the best, imho, on the market so. Secure grasping mechanism, worry no more. Stable footprint although orientation of leg in relation to guitar body is apparently to maximize stability but compromises comfort lowering a guitar straight on top of a kicker leg, don't miss. Body support foam covered back braces are nice, functional adjustability is minimum, not allowing for placement directly behind the set neck/ body intersection construction of many guitars, perhaps an additional set up for the upper section of the stand which is exactly where the neck/ body connect is on my guitar. Is this important you ask? It happened to me, came home from work and found my guitar broken in half, still on the, sounds like alexander hamilton, stand. That stand was a neck hang only, very bottom of the guitar body support, nothing in the middle. Problem solved with this stand. 3 in 1 works for me, less stands as I gig with multiple guitars, also saves space in the studio. Feels sturdy and secure, I might have shortened the shaft on the upper hanging device to create a little backward leaning slant, more weight resting against the lower support, wonder if they'll blow around in a stiff breeze. Good looking, quality feeling actuating mechanisms, love the "home shop" beads at the hanger shaft to top nut, hey, it's welded, fine with me. Bought 2 of these when they were the Stupid Deal of the Day. I figured even if they were a little flimsy, they would do an adequate job of holding three guitars in my studio or living room, or maybe even serve for a gig. I am very disappointed in this product. As stated in other customer reviews, no matter what guitars you put on the stands, the headstocks will touch. There is no simple adjustment you can make to the stand to avoid this. If you have the right sized guitars, you may be able to angle them just so to avoid touching, but this level of thought should not be necessary for such a critical piece of kit. It's clunky, poorly designed, and wobbly: the little rubber arm that prevents your guitar from falling out is, sadly, a necessary precaution when leaving your guitar in the stand. At this price point (yes, I mean cheap), I guess it's meant to be disposable. I recommend spending more and getting a Hercules or something more reliable and worthy of your instruments. This last recommendation should also be applied when considering the purchase of any Musician's Gear product.Chordtone
I purchased one of these previously and it was fine. My second unit had the vertical bar mounted to the base so crooked that would nearly fall over backward when a guitar was placed on it. Customer service was super friendly and helpful and sent me another unit at no cost. Unfortunately the replacement was almost as bad, with the vertical bar now leaning to the left. At this point I just gave up. Some say "you get what you pay for" but I would expect any item sold to at the very least fulfill it's primary function to some degree, but these don't. Again, Musicians Friend has good customer service, but this stand is not usable.Clint
Once setting this up out of the box, an issue was obvious. Apparently when this was constructed and welded/soldered at the factory, the connection of the vertical section to the tripod base was done so crookedly, and leaning to one side. there was no way to correct this as it's either soldered or welded at the bottom section, and I wouldn't trust a guitar on this stand. This was a few bucks cheaper than the Chromecast brand so I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately even at $10, it was a waste of time needing to process a return/refund. I’m using it for a very long and heavy bass. Was a bit difficult to adjust for height when first setting up as I had the bass in one hand with nowhere convenient to put it whilst sliding the stand into the correct height. Don’t adjust it whilst the instrument is sitting in the yoke. Once in action, it’s pretty damn good, with the AGS lock being fast and sure. I’m now thinking of getting more for my other guitars.
I have owned quite a few guitar stands and this one is absolutely the best. It is the sturdiest stand I have ever owned. The auto lock feature is incredible. I now own 2 and will never buy another companies stands. If you are worried because you have a nitrocellulose finish, hopefully this works out for you. A great little stand that I can easily fit into my gig bag thereby helping me to reduce still further the weight load of what I take to gigs. I can only say that it works well with a Fender Jaguar. The quality seems pretty good. Not K&M good, but still. I did notice some scratches here and there on the stand out of the box, but nothing too crazy. Besides, it doesn't have to look pretty. It just has to work. And the stability is great.
If you own a BC Rich guitar or bass, or a flying V or other guitar or bass with an oddly-shaped body, you need this stand for gigging and/or breaks during rehearsals. I'd like to address the criticisms of this stand that I've read in other reviews: first, yes, it would be more convenient for setup purposes if the support arms were designed to slide up and down and lock in place with setscrews. On the other hand, the remove-and-reinsert design Fender has employed here means that, once you get this stand set up, THE SUPPORTS CAN'T SLIP OUT OF ALIGNMENT. That's a net plus, in my book, and properly setting the stand up really doesn't take that long in my experience. Secondly, it's true that this stand is not as stable as I'd like it to be. That's principally because the unit's stance is too narrow. If the legs opened wider than they do, it would be at least as solid as any other body-support-style stand. So that's an issue. However, the complaint about it not being stable enough for a bass guitar is off-base. The solution is to LOWER THE BOTTOM-MOST SUPPORT ARM to the lowest hole in the leg on that side, rather than to leave it in place at the third or fourth hole up. It's a pretty simple issue of geometry and physics: the lower the center of gravity, the more stable your instrument will be. If you're foolish enough to leave the lowest support arm in its default position, OF COURSE it won't be stable enough to reliably support a bass guitar. Heck, I wouldn't trust it to support my Mockingbird without that mod. Finally, the little support arm is kind of useful to provide additional lateral stability for your instrument's upper body. Not REAL useful, but still … I'm happy with mine.

There are 2 locking mechanisms on this "foldable" stand that I find are terrible. 1) the top section where the guitar neck should rest, and 2) the bottom holder where the guitar body should rest. The 1 section is supposed to fold and latch with the spring-loaded 'bullet in the hole' mechanism, but it is so loose and misaligned that it doesn't work. The 2 section just tilts up and down almost 180 degrees and does not stay put at the right angle to hold a guitar in fact, if you attempt to rest the guitar, it just slides away and fall out! This is dangerous!! This stand does not give me any assurance that it will safely hold my guitar. Even if I were to get this repaired or replaced, it seems obvious to me that based on its design the stand will fail sooner than later. I question the construction and obviously-absent quality-control of this product. To sum up: The item should be recalled! PROS: Inexpensive. At the very least, it does look like a guitar stand. I bought 3 of these. At first glance these seem well built (the tubing is of heavier gauge than some of my other less expensive stands) but they do suffer from a few drawbacks. The most serious is that the "yoke" that holds up the guitar body naturally wants to flip upside down. That can happy with most of these stands, but typically I have found with my other stands that it only happens occasionally but I have found with these it almost always happens. And, if you don't notice it, the guitar slides out and falls to the floor… so it's a fairly serious design flaw. You have to be really careful. Also, on one or two of mine, the plastic caps that hole the retraining strap have split, so the retaining strap no longer works properly. PROS: Price Reasonably heavy gauge tubing CONS: The "yoke" that holds up the body of the guitar always wants to flip upside down. I’m using it for a very long and heavy bass. Was a bit difficult to adjust for height when first setting up as I had the bass in one hand with nowhere convenient to put it whilst sliding the stand into the correct height. Don’t adjust it whilst the instrument is sitting in the yoke. Once in action, it’s pretty damn good, with the AGS lock being fast and sure. I’m now thinking of getting more for my other guitars.
I have owned quite a few guitar stands and this one is absolutely the best. It is the sturdiest stand I have ever owned. The auto lock feature is incredible. I now own 2 and will never buy another companies stands. If you are worried because you have a nitrocellulose finish, hopefully this works out for you. As far as I know, Fender and Gibson are the only ones who still use that inferior finish.Travis

In my opinion the design of this particular Hercules stand is not good. The stand I received was faulty on arrival. The joints at the bottom of the stand were bent, which prevented the stand legs from opening out correctly. If you like Hercules stands then do yourself a favour and get one of the other Hercules stands that do not use the same mechanism for the legs.James
This is the only stand I could find that will work with my Steinberger bass. It works well with my other basses too. It is more compact than my other stands. Even though it doesn't have a moveable yoke design the design of this stand assures your bass or guitar will not slip.toolmannc11

Wobbly and unstable, especially on carpeted surfaces, but also on a bare floor. At a recent session my banjo took a header off the stand flat onto the studio floor and the neck snapped clean off. Cooperstand's customer relations people were shockingly snarky and combative, it was either my fault for purchasing the wrong stand (nope, it's a Pro-B not a Pro-G) or for not seating it properly (nope, I always make sure its securely on the stand before walking away), or because I didn't contact them first before posting this photo on my social media page (like most working musicians I do product reviews on the side). Seriously easy to use and really stable. It doesn’t quite sit against the wall or your machine heads touch the wall. With a typical acoustic the outer edge of the guitar is 25” from the wall. With a bass it could be more – it’s the head clearance! Even so, it takes a lot less space than individual stands. It’s also good at keeping your guitars from clonking against each other once they’re sat in place. As with any rack, care is needed when lifting a guitar into or out of position. It says room for five Guitars. That’s true but it forgets to say there’s loads of room left. Even with five acoustics I reckon I could squeeze in a couple or three electric ones. The Hercules guitar rack is a well designed and solid piece of equipment. I have owned several racks in the past that were flimsy, warped, and just plain unreliable to trust with my beloved guitars. When it comes to purchasing a guitar rack, the age-old saying of "you get what you pay for" certainly comes into play. The Hercules stands are a bit more pricey, but I believed to be worth every bit of the price. The main thing is that it is solid. There is very little wobble even when loaded with heavy electric guitars. Even though I will not be using it for acoustic guitars, I put 5 of my acoustic guitars on it just to see if it would accommodate them, and of course, it did. The rack comes pre-assembled, and you simply have to unfold it. The rack is also fully adjustable so you can tweak it to maximize the efficiency of how it holds your guitars. The padding is sufficient to protect both the body and neck of your guitars. While I cannot speak of its longevity, I feel confident in saying that it will be around a long time. I own several single Hercules guitar stands, and they have lasted a long time. All in all, I believe the Hercules guitar stand does Homage to the legendary hero it's named after.Profdave
Not the worlds most exciting purchase but there are a few things i appreciate about buying this. Firstly, zero installation, you literally just fold it open. And second I like all my guitars being out. I used to just have my acoustic out and the rest were in cases/gig bags ready to take out for gigs or rehearsals. As gigs and rehearsals dried up I didn’t play anything but my acoustic… for years, now I’ve got the stand I’m playing more guitars, more often. There’s that and I just like the look of it, I like a room with five guitars in it. I reckon I’ll most likely end playing two of these guitars regularly once the novelty has worn off but they’ll always look good. I ordered one, liked it so much, I ordered two more. For my needs this worked perfectly for my classical, as well as my 12-string and 6-striing acoustic guitars. I like the weight and the balance of this stand. The padding that touches the instrument surface, I feel, is quite adequate. Had also hoped to "kill two birds" by using one as a tabletop music holder; it seems to do the job, in my case only by placing a ruler along either the top front of the stand (behind the book), and possibly other methods I haven't tried yet. Am used to standard guitar stands, so if I had small kids or pets of concern I Might be a little more cautious with type of stand, though, as with any free-standing instrument.Pat
Not the best stand I have, but for the low cost, you simply can't beat it. The build quality is excellent, and the welds (a common quality concern) are exceptional on this product. I've used this for stage and home use, and it's very solid. In fact it's sturdy enough to hold a five and four string jazz bass at the same time. This makes for an incredibly small footprint on small stages or tight rehearsal spaces. It folds for storage, with the only issue being the arms that hold the guitars don't fold, or cannot be taken off for even a smaller load. Regardless, this stand is such a deal for the price, it's hard to find any flaws. Due to space, this is the only stand I'm using at my home right now, and it's holding a 1400.00 bass. Another solid stand from Hercules. Over the last 10 years I've owned their single and also triple hanging guitar stands with no issues whatsoever. Strong, stable, balanced, even if you only hang one instrument and don't have others on the opposite side balancing it. As I acquired more guitars over the years and space was limited, I bought this one and so far I'm not disappointed. It's bigger/taller than it looks, like having a guitar-xmas-tree inside your house. I always needed hanging stands because of my Oddly shaped guitars (see picture). The only disadvantage is that these stands used to be quite pricey… USED to be. The stand works great as intended but I had some issues. I had to exchanged the first one i ordered because 2 of the arms didn't function as intended. The replacement also doesn't function as intended. One of the little arms that come up when you set the guitar in is broken. I'll just leave it since it doesn't really do anything to hold the guitar. I rate a 3 because it's a really nice stand but at the price it should not come broken or out of alignment.Marcus
