My boss blues driver sounds great with most amps, but makes a horrible noise through an AC15. The Mooer blues mood sounds very similar, perhaps slightly fatter , but does not have the high treble frequencies that over excite the AC15. Problem solved! Well made. Boss's most recent overdrive, obviously a 'next-generation' version of the bd-2 blues driver. compared to the bd-2, this has similar tones and similar clean-boost uses, but more gain available and none of the spitty decay that the bd-2 has. imo, this is a really refined-sounding, amp-like pedal, probably the finest overdrive or distortion boss has ever made. extremely understated and underrated. i own several of them. the modification here addresses the most common complaint about this circuit — that it has too much bass for some guitars/pickups (especially neck pickups). when the toggle switch is up, the pedal is stock. when the switch is down, lows are cut before distortion to tighten up the tone and clean up the mud with bassy guitars/pickups. it's a subtle difference but an extremely useful one in many situations.

The Boss OD-3 Overdrive sounds great through my '65 Fender Blackface Deluxe Reverb Re-Issue Ltd. Edition Wine Red with Wheat Grill Cloth. My amplifier has the Jensen P-12Q speaker as opposed to the Jensen C-12K speaker that comes in the stock '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb Re-Issues. My amplifier sounds awesome but does not have a gain or drive channel, so the Boss OD-3 Overdrive gives me a gain/drive channel. It sounds perfect with the reverb turned on to 4. I think this is the sound the Mad Professor #1 Guitar Pedal tries to emulate. Anyway, I experimented with an Ibanez Jet Driver, Pro Co RAT 2, Xotic BB Pre-Amp, Boss DS-1 Distortion, and Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive finally achieving a great tone with the Boss OD-3 Overdrive. I play Gibson Guitars with humbucking pickups (3 Les Pauls & 3 SG's)and can honestly say this pedal is the sound of "classic rock" to my ears. I have been playing guitar for over 34 years. I own a 1979 Marshall JMP 100 watt 2203 single channel head, a Marshall 4×12 slant cabinet, and a Marshall 4×12 straight cabinet which I don't really use that much anymore. The Boss OD-3 Overdrive through my '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb Re-Issue reminds me of the tone of my Marshall stack cranked up. Not the same, but similar enough that I am very happy with my tone.
This overdrive is capable of many things : searing crunch tones, clean boost etc…. Like any other more expansive ones. But it does more, it has its own "vintage" but clear voice, hot, sparkling and powerful! It is easy to use, a toy, very expressive! Don't be afraid to roll drive to max and tone to 1/4 to reach a deep chunk with huge overtones! Or use it more around noon for a "classy-glassy" dream overdrive!
Boss Blues Driver 2 leaves off where this pedal picks up. I love the Blues Driver and I leave the gain set on low and leave it on all the time it gives a sparkle to the sound. It sounds perfect up to half gain. The OD3 picks up where the Blues Driver leaves off. I feel that it is the next step to a higher gain. It does have a bit more mid which us very tube like. As you turn up the gain it maintains a very present output throughout its range. You don't need both pedals but if it's more overdrive range you need this is where you need to 'be. I like them in succession, first the Blues driver at low gain then the OD3 for more drive. A very lively overdrive. This makes a clean solid state amp come to life instantly. The tone is fat and robust. When cranked there is a sustain that is well rounded and full. When rolling down guitar volume knob it cleans up well and still has a great sparkle. Does not get muddy at lower volumes.

I could spend all day yapping about this pedal…In my travels i've tried countless pedals, but got tired of having 'too many' pedals. The weight, the time it took to hook it all up. I also busk, or play where electricity isn't available, and wanted a setup where i could make one trip with everything, and keep the weight down. I've always been a fan of ZOOM products, so trying out the Multistomp series was a no-brainer for me. The 50G met all my requirements, and exceed them all after i got one and started using it. Tones that are as good as any higher priced pedal, the versatility is second to none, and the price is killer for what this pedal can do. I would say the the Bluetooth version was my favorite, then the 70CDR, then the 50G, with the 50G's new 3.0 update, the 50 G is now my favorite pedal…period. The 50G started with maybe 50 patches, now it has 172, and best of all it has the Exciter patch, which to me is required on any pedal board. All i can suggest is watch the countless demo videos of this pedal. I would recommend this pedal for any level of guitarist, i would also recommend the MS-70CDR, watch the demo videos of the 70-CDR vs Strymons…amazing I cant say enough good things about the 50G, i believe it's near the perfect all around pedal. The MS-50G pedal is first class. It is every bit as clean, quiet, and well built as the Boss pedals. It is not a replacement for the Boss line. Zoom pedals have a character of their own. Personally, I like the Zoom tone. But I'm not a guitar player. There is a great ~15 minute YouTube instructional video for the MS-50G. I got over the learning curve for writing and storing effects by watching this video, then I bought pedal. It replaces several pieces of my high quality studio gear when I need fast results that are of high level audio quality. Zoom delivers with this product. After I watched this video I purchased the pedal. I also like my G1X as a companion to this pedal. The G1X has a nice volume/expression pedal.Sean
I needed something for my living room and practicing while watching TV late at night without a full pedal board or multi-effects box. This along with a Boss RC-3 and a mini mixer for my wireless headphones provides everything I have in my studio at a mini level. The sounds are good enough. There are enough options in sound to play most anything. Eventually I'll try this little beast as a sub for my full pedal board and see how it works in a live jam. One pedal to do everything. It's not perfect but it is great. I wish Zoom would provide updates to it and a better manager. It's pretty old by today's standards and if Zoom provided updated files they would sell even more if these great little boxes. The jhs morning glory overdrive pedal is their most popular pedal and one of the most highly regarded transparent overdrives available. the version 4 adds greater flexibility with a gain switch for a higher gain setting and improved volume control to give twice as much available headroom for a clean boost. the morning glory is designed to retain the tone and dynamics of your amp while introducing overdrive, it can be used to add some mid to low level grit to your crystal clean tone, boost a crunchy tone into thicker sustain or add tube like touch response to a less than ideal amp. the new gain switch adds a higher gain mode that can be controlled by the jhs red remote footswitch (sold separately), this plugs in to the new remote input jack on the side of the pedal turning it in to a two channel overdrive pedal with the gain boost easily accessible mid song via the extra footswitch. the bright cut switch has been moved to the side of the pedal in v4, turning up the drive knob adds brightness to the tone and so the bright cut switch compensates for this if required. the control knob layout remains the same with volume, drive and tone knobs but the volume sweep has been redesigned to give twice the amount of headroom and increased output for use as a full frequency clean boost. with these new additions the jhs morning glory v4 adds greater flexibility and usability to an already very popular overdrive pedal.

I wanted a high-quality transparent OD and have tried a few different varieties. I had seen a ton of good reviews and watched Josh's YouTube vids about this many times, so I decided to try it out. I tested this with some random Tele + Marshall combo amp in the store and I thought it was pretty nice. I got it home and tested with my own Tele and Fender Bassbreaker 007 (my main recording amp, which they did not have in the store) and it was…awful. It had gritty, annoying tone, even with the high-cut filter on. I tried tweaking the controls for a what seemed like hours and simply could not get a good tone out of it. I A/B'd this with my current favorite OD, an old (vintage?) Danelectro Daddy-O, and much preferred the Daddy-O. So while this pedal has great features, looks cool, and is built well, what matters is the tone, and that tone might not fit your guitar/amp combo. Sorry Josh!Seth
The morning glory itself as an audio product is phenomenal. It's become a nearly always on effect in my rig, providing just that little bit of razzle to thicken and saturate my sound. Frankly, I never use it for anything other than very low gain grit, because it's all I ever really need from it. And although the higher gain settings sound perfectly palatable, I would usually rather use another overdrive with more effective tone sculpting and keep the morning glory on underneath. So I love the thing. It's great, but it appears that JHS may have a slight quality assurance consistency issue with their powder coating process – or whatever is used for the finish of this pedal enclosure. In photos, the morning glory looks like it be a rather brilliant, almost flaky gold. And on my pedal, the backplate is, but the bulk of the enclosure is a more disappointing, somewhat muddy brown color. Which wouldn't be so bad if at least the two pieces were consistent with each other. At least then, I wouldn't have to know that the front could have looked cleaner. But it's just aesthetic and I can't imagine every pedal is like this. Otherwise, it sounds fantastic and that's what's important.
Believe the hype. This is the first gain stage in my chain and gives the wonderful chime and sparkle transparency it's known for regardless of what amp I'm using. I more or less have the MG's controls all set at 12 o'clock and I always like to have my amps set of the edge of breakup. I stack the pedal into my RYRA Klone (set as a clean boost) and the tone is amazing, and the MG is especially versatile when I use the red remote to switch between it's two gain settings. It can achieve some searing lead tones/nice saturated heft for chords while still retaining definition and clarity in this context – ideal for my uses. I'm currently waiting on an EQD Plumes to arrive and I can't wait to stack it with the MG and see what tones I can dial in, but I image the MG will work extremely well with any drive/distortion/fuzz you care to mention. 10/10Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Strymon pedals are very well made with sturdy enclosures and wonderfully smooth controls with excellent gradation. I also have Strymon Sunset overdrive, Flint tremolo and DiG delay. Those are 5 star boxes for me. To my ears the Blue Sky is a very good bit of kit – but on this occasion is it worth the extra £80 or so above reverb pedals around the £200 point? This pedal sounds really nice. It's very bassy. But it's not muddy at all. It's got more gain than most overdrives but it's not really high gain. It's a hair less from being a high gain distortion pedal. I has driving mids and sounds very robust. The tone control is very useful. U can color the tone from a smooth overdrive to a cranked distortion pedal kind of cutting high gain for leads. I'd say it's pretty versatile compared to a super overdrive perhaps. This is the only overdrive pedal I have so don't have a point of comparison. I chose this over the Tube Screamer for my Telecaster based on YouTube sound comparisons, and certainly don't regret it. While I bought it to use with a Blues Junior, which is currently on backorder from MF, I've been using it on a Champion 40 modeling amp. Through the clean channel, you get a range of overdrive sounds, from crunch, though British into super distorted metal, particularly with the guitar volume cranked up. Switching from clean to modeling channels shows this pedal generates a smooth balanced overdrive sound that you just cannot reproduce with the amp's gain and voice options, which sound thin and tinny. The only minor negative is the power supply – expect to replace the 9v battery immediately, and understand that whenever an input cable is connected the unit is on. I noticed the power light had dimmed from leaving a cable plugged in for a day, even though everything else was off. Can't wait to hear this through a tube amp!Mike

I am an avid pedal enthusiast, as my 42 pedal pedalboard will attest; and I have had a few flangers before, but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING compares to Josh's flanger. I can get this pedal to do three things: a very subtle reverb that adds a touch of space, a room-like reverb, and a super long-tailed ambient reverb that's so expansive it almost sounds like it's mixed with delay. There are other reverb pedals for a bit more money that have more options built into them-spring, plate, hall, room, shimmer, modulated reverb, and so on. With this pedal I find it difficult to switch between the different sounds since it's a lot of knob fiddling. It does sound absolutely killer, which is why I gave it 4 stars, but I don't recommend it if you want to easily switch between different types of reverb. For me it will be more of a "set and forget" pedal for long ambient reverbs.Andrew
I was recently using one pedal board for all my guitars, and the chorus I had was mainly designed for use with acoustic guitar. Now I'm rearranging things to have one board just for my electric guitars and all I needed was a basic chorus pedal of quality build and tone. I knew from reviews the JHS 3 series was perfect for me. At a point several years back I only owned Active Basses, but in the space of two months proceeded to acquire several High-End Basses with Passive Electronics, I was in need for something in my signal chain to raise the output of the Passives to the level of my Active Basses. I took the advice of a close friend who's a true "Professional Bassist" who also knows a great deal about the technical issues of Pedalboards, Large-Scale Amplification and such and picked up the Xotic Bass RC Booster which was the highest-quality he could recommend (I'd rather spend the money once rather than upgrade from a "Beginner's Pedal" to a "Midrange Model" and so on…) That was once of the best pieces of advice I've been given in terms of gear, as to this day the Bass RC Booster is a main piece of equipment on my Pedalboard. Between the 2-Band EQ, Gain & Volume controls I'm able to raise the level of my own Passive Basses or a Bass that I'm using at a Jam or Open Mic to the levels of my Active Bass, which I have all adjusted to Unity Gain as to cause as little issues as possible. Two surprising use of note: with a minimal increase in Volume the Pedal becomes just as useful as a Volume Boost to both Passive & Active Basses for solos, drum 'n bass breakdowns and other times where it's necessary to step out into the spotlight a bit more. Secondly, when the Gain is pushed towards the higher registers you can even can a quite useable "SVT"-type Overdrive. Even players who play with a clean tone will certainly find this added bonus helpful in both live and studio situations. To sum up the Xotic RC Bass Booster, it's an extremely high build-and sonic quality, low noise & versatile Boost effect. Its additional use as a light Overdrive effects is just as effective in its field. I use this often on my Pedalboard, and would replace it immediately if it were lost or stolen. A bit pricey when initially purchasing, it makes up for that as you're buying a Professional Quality effect, and would not have any need to replace with a "better one" a year or so down the road. This is all one would need to cover this area of effects!
I have an Xotic AC Booster and it is one of my fav pedals. At the start of my chain – after the buffer – I have a Compressor, then an old DOD Preamp 250, followed by my AC. I like the sound, but had this setup for a while and was just looking to shake things up. I thought the RC ver 2 would be a great replacement for the DOD as what could be better than 2 xotics in series? Well, not this! The Comp (Wampler Ego; another pedal I like alot) did not play well with the RC. The sound was muddy and lost all definition. The RC alone was OK, but not great. Found the effect of Gain 1 to be pretty darn subtle and really not much better than my old DOD gain pedal. Had to crank RC Gain 1 to full CW to hear much – a very different pedal from the AC which is super responsive. I also found the adjustment for the RC Gain 2 pot to be very awkward for a quick adjustment onstage as is occasionally necessary between songs. So, I was pretty bummed out as I love the AC and I use an Xotic EP booster for regular lead boosts. Just did not work out for me. Hard to decide if I would recommend the RC. Personally, I am very picky about effects, usually use only 2 at most at one time (e.g. Comp + AC; EQ + Delay, etc.) . So I think i would say that I do not recommend…but you may like it.BCY123
I'm surprised at how much I use this pedal. I bought it to boost the signal of passive basses and it does that and a lot more. The EQ points are right where you need them. And because you can preset those as well as the volume, when you switch to a passive bass in the middle of a live performance there is no time wasted fiddling with knobs trying to match the sound of your active bass. Also it's useful as a clean boost on active basses for those times when your hands are busy and you can't adjust your amp in the middle of a song. Just pre-set the pedal to a little boost and any time you need it, you've got it with a quick stomp of the foot. The third use I find for this pedal is with effects. You can use it to put a little boost before any overdrive/distortion pedal it will increase the gain. I love this because I like the sound of the Morning Glory pedal, but it doesn't get quite dirty enough. Most pedals that get as dirty as I want don't sound the way the Morning Glory does so this is perfect for me. And the other way it's useful is to add bottom end to distortion pedals (which are famous for not supporting the low end very well). Preset a little bass boost and when you stomp the overdrive/distortion pedal also click on the Xotic RC.PDGood

Always heard a lot about the Holy Grail and the Soul Food pedals, and wondered what the fuss was all about. Found out.I have a half dozen od pedals ( Ts-808, BD,DOD) and they all have there place on the board, but this one has a different growl than the others. Not as brittle as the BD, yet not as smooth as the TS. Not overpowering, just the "right " amount. Needed a reverb pedal too.The Defender amp I use has Dark Vader spring reverb, but not on a foot switch. There is a switch that let's you choose between spring, hall, and plate reverbs, as well as a reverse reverb. The first three sound very good. Can't really find a use for the reverse though. Maybe it sounds different to me mites in Austrrrralia , since everything is supposed to be backwards down under. If I was stranded on a desert island and could only take one pedal, this would be it. expensive pedals but i never had something like this. this pedals is just unique it's not just a regular drive pedal. this circuit is based on vintage amps circuits and it does it really well. you can get marshall plexi / vox ac30 and fender like tones easy! its also a heavier pedal and somewhat larger than common but this is quality. maybe i'll buy his big brother next thanks Musicstore.
It's big, it's heavy, it has a lot of knobs, and it the most amp-like drive pedal I've ever used. Unlike many amp in a box type pedals, this pedal attempts to recreate amps at a circuit level rather than producing a polished, idealized amp tone. As such, it can be a little trebly and harsh depending on the settings. Like the amps it endeavors to recreate, it will allow you to dial in terrible tones. It may take a little work to dial it in but it's worth the effort. I recommend taking a few minutes to read the manual. All the knobs and switches may seem complicated at first but they're really not. Some are dedicated to dialing in amp tones and some are dedicated to tweaking EQ to match whatever you're plugging into. It didn't take me long to get good tones using my Fender '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb. I'm an old school kind of player in that I like to use the guitar volume and pick dynamics to control grit and this pedal delivers in that respect. Pick softly and it cleans up nicely. Slam it and it gets gnarly — just like a tube amp. However, if you want hotrodded, super high gain tones you may need to hit the front end with an overdrive or boost. My only gripe is having to use the external switch if I want the mid controls engaged on both channels. I've found that I prefer it that way but it's not a big deal. I understand that there's only so much functionality that can be squeezed in without having to go to a bigger enclosure. It's amazing how much they managed to squeeze in. Overall, I find the the Custom Revival Drive, like the Cali76, to be a great piece of gear.Todd

This pedal sounds really nice. It's very bassy. But it's not muddy at all. It's got more gain than most overdrives but it's not really high gain. It's a hair less from being a high gain distortion pedal. I has driving mids and sounds very robust. The tone control is very useful. U can color the tone from a smooth overdrive to a cranked distortion pedal kind of cutting high gain for leads. I'd say it's pretty versatile compared to a super overdrive perhaps. This is the only overdrive pedal I have so don't have a point of comparison. I chose this over the Tube Screamer for my Telecaster based on YouTube sound comparisons, and certainly don't regret it. While I bought it to use with a Blues Junior, which is currently on backorder from MF, I've been using it on a Champion 40 modeling amp. Through the clean channel, you get a range of overdrive sounds, from crunch, though British into super distorted metal, particularly with the guitar volume cranked up. Switching from clean to modeling channels shows this pedal generates a smooth balanced overdrive sound that you just cannot reproduce with the amp's gain and voice options, which sound thin and tinny. The only minor negative is the power supply – expect to replace the 9v battery immediately, and understand that whenever an input cable is connected the unit is on. I noticed the power light had dimmed from leaving a cable plugged in for a day, even though everything else was off. Can't wait to hear this through a tube amp!Mike

How odd. This review was flagged for writing Big Mu** using the two F's 🙂 For the money, this is a really hard pedal to beat. It goes from mild and laid-back to wild and intense. The controls feel great…like as in excellent quality. This is a reissue of the original Big Mu** PI. I tried a Big Mu** PI with Wicker and forget about it. It hissed so loud in Wicker mode that I couldn't even here myself think and it got even worse with the tone switch off. And even in the so-called Big Mu** PI mode, it didn't sound anywhere near as good as this Rams Head does. And, the Rams Head is quiet compared to the BM PI with Wicker. One more thing, The BM PI with Wicker does not say anywhere on it nor in the included paperwork where it's made, whereas the RH BM PI clearly says New York City on the face of it…Vincent
The tone sweep is nice and there are some interesting spots because it is linear while kind of non-linear at 10 to noon and about 1-2 on tone control. I can't say why but usually I had purchased like more expensive versions of ehx pedals. That being said, I think people need to realize that these are quite accurate reissues and circuits, and just because it is an affordable pedal doesn't mean it isn't great.
Overall: Floats like a stone and stings like a nest of angry hornets! This box has the buzzsaw sound down pat. The fuzz is a thick, smooth, and consistent. I like this kind of fuzz in particular because it’s less fuzzy and little more distortion-like. The Tone knob has a really wide sweep from boomy bass to mid-range Hades. It has plenty of gain on tap and even sounds pretty good with the guitar’s volume rolled back a skosh.I’ve never used the original Green Russian Muff and have only heard them compared through videos online, so I can’t speak as to how they’re different/alike. I got it because I didn’t want to haul my vintage Black Russian Muff around from gig to gig anymore because it’s getting valuable and since it was a pretty jenky design to begin with, it’s liable to break with heavy use. That being said, the reissue Green Russian Muff has a different sound than an original V8 Black Russian Muff. It doesn’t sound as good to me, but it’s not so different that I wouldn’t use the Green Russian live in lieu of the Black Russian for the aforementioned reasons. One huge plus for the Green Russian is its pedalboard friendly size. The Black Russian is the size of an 80s metal lunchbox and took up an awkward sized chunk of the pedalboard. Now there’s more room for other unnecessary boxes (gulp)! One noteworthy ding for this pedal is how difficult it is to see the script on the top of the pedal. The words are printed right underneath the knobs, so if it’s kinda dark (which it usually is) and the lights are all in front of you (which they usually are) the words are impossible to see. Overall it’s a nice fuzz especially for the price. It’s noisy, but once the music gets rolling you won’t even notice it.Brad

From my experience, with my stuff, the Nobels is very nice. It can be used for lots of styles and I really like the looks of it. Looks kinda retro. I got rid of a lot of pedals but this one stayed. I was looking for a natural sounding OD that doesnt colour the signal too much. The ODR-1BC does the job perfectly. Exactly what I was looking for . The drive adds anything between almost zero gain to quite significant saturation. As the drive is turned up, there is a boost in some high frequencies and these can be tamed by turning down the "Spectrum" facility. I have tried several different overdrive pedals including a few that were considerably more expensive than this one. The Nobels OD-1 is the best sounding one yet. The bass switch is also a plus, so make sure the one you buy has it. I chose the SL Drive from a huge amount of drives on the market as I wanted something that fit on a small pedalboard, could provide a Marshall style sound at all gain levels as an alternative to amp gain, and which could work well with the BB MB pre-amp also by Xotic. This pedal really delivers. Although it takes time to set up and find the best sounds for personal preference, it provides a variety of useful tones across the spectra of volume, gain, and equalisation. The design is just so thoughtful and I like the possibility of running it at 18v, although at the moment 9v is better to my ears. I've had the SL drive for awhile now and try as I might I can't find anything that can kick it off my board. I've tried numerous other amp in a box pedals(Marshall and otherwise),overdrives and distortions but I keep coming back to this little guy. I guess I keep trying because I find it hard to believe that a pedal this small and this inexpensive(relatively) can't be outdone. I use this in conjunction with a standard Tumnus and the 2 together just can't be beat for me and I'm done spending $ trying.mike smith

This is a really cool and unique pedal that adds a doubling effect to your sound with varying degrees of tightness depending on how you set it so it can sound like a chorus, delay, or it can just thicken up your sound. with 1,2, or 3 dubs it can really add a minor or very noticeable effect depending on how you set it and it can really sound fantastic while being very versatile. only letting this go because i'm changing to a multi fx pedal. not looking for trades. don't have the original box.

I track usually 4 rhythm tracks, two of the exact same then two more of the same but with accents or harmonies etc as my main rhythm and I like it to be tight and sound like one guitar performance, the variations and accents and harmonies blend and widen the sound, also I use hard panning and other panning to make the guitar sound huge. With the guitar sound very close performance wise and tone/distortion quality wise, I find that it just sounds like one massive performance and the listener perceived it as a Randy Rhoads kind of singular performance. I'm the only guitarist and I play complex chords, this also let's be play parts of the chord separately for more even intonation and harmonics definition. It goes towards the big sound, I kind of learned from Alex Lifeson, Rhoads, and Hatfield and Wolf of Accept this approach as they all do the main rhythms and it sounds tight and huge. Mimiq helps me get the 4 tracks with only two performances and it adds natural sounding random variations that do what the multitrack stacking of individual performances does, it doesn't just uniformly cancel out all the interesting variations, which can happen if you just copy the same track and reamp. It does what I wanted to do, with less than half the effort.Mindcage
This replaced the signal splitter on my board with the added benefit of actually making my stereo sound better. I have it right after my tuner and it splits into an HM-2 LHP on the dry side and a Blackened Fuzz on the wet "double" side. Makes my stereo rig sound better. I only use the 1 dub mode, so Dry and 1 Double L/R and I use it pretty tight, just enough to make it sound "different" but not sloppy. Does exactly what I had hoped it would do.
Bought to run a slight delay to a second amp more so than the "double track" thing. But actually this effect seems pretty decent. Did i immediately notice you can get phase issues? Yes of course. Did i get some of that notorious left right jump thing? Yes. But it seems to relate to using the pedal at the limits of what its happy with. For the price this thing is a keeper…because otherwise im having to spend big dosh on either the 30ms or the Deco. Buy this but be prepared to accept some limitations and bug bears. Super cool and versatile distortion. the noise gate, extremely powerful mid control, and weight knob features allow you to dial in a range of high gain sounds from van halen to meshuggah – it even is very useful in less heavy styles of music. it's a double barrel pedal (the same circuit twice), so you can have two drastically different distortions on tap with ease. also a great tool in the studio. definitely worth the hype and price.i bought it mint and used it on maybe 3 gigs. i'm selling because the band i was using it for broke up so i no longer have a use for it. listing as "excellent" instead of "mint" because i removed the rubber feet to more easily mount to a pedal board and then promptly misplaced them. there is also a small amount of velcro residue (see picture). comes with original box, foam padding, users manual, and empress sticker.

Have still to explore all the tonal possibilities of this aptly-named dual distortion pedal but first impressions have been very positive. The unit is smaller and lighter than I expected but the two foot switches are well separated. With six controls for each channel plus shared 'hi' and 'lo' EQ there are plenty of tone-shaping options. The user manual helpfully suggests some settings to get you started. The internal noise gate has so far proved very effective left on the 'natural' setting. You can adjust the threshold to suit your guitar's output, but having used the pedal with guitars loaded with vintage, medium output and hot humbuckers, I've found no need to alter the default factory setting. If you're in the market for a versatile high-gain distortion pedal I would strongly recommend taking a look at this one.Christopher D.
