I am a drummer. My son needed strings. He took a few lessons years ago, and recently decided to try again. Guitar needed strings. I put on a full set and tuned it up. Seem to be functional. Fairly flexible. I didn't want really heavy strings. I know they would wreak havoc on un-callused fingertips!Scott W.
I use the power slinky's on my Ibanez 1070pbz and love them. I love their tone and and they're a very flexible string for medium gauges. I use the regular slinky's on my strat. I was using black diamonds, which are very hard to find around here and are almost 30 a pack and they're not very flexible and break easy during bends but I stuck with them for years just because I liked the tone. But I tried the EB's because of the good reviews and they're cheap and everyone sells them. Surprisingly the tone I liked from the black diamonds was VERY similar to the EB's but the EB's are SO much more flexible. I usually change my strings at least once a month maybe more because I like the fresh tone, but at 5 a pack you can afford to change them often. I play daily at least a couple hours and it's usually blues and rock so I'm hard on the strings. The 30 set didn't seem to hold their fresh out of the pack sounds any longer. You can buy the EB's in bulk and get a great discount from MF.Oilfieldman

Unfortunately, I do not have a 7-string axe but if I did, it would be strung out with these babies! I buy them for the 28, 38 & 58 strings for my SRV Strat to get that Texas tone. They play just as smooth & good as any of the other Ernie Ball strings I use. I love the heavy, warm-end tone & the strings do not disappoint AND they're easy on the fingers meaning they're smooth. If you bend strings up a whole step like I do, these strings will toughen you up real fast.. These strings last and never have I experienced any corrosion. I was looking for a perfect set to stay super tight in Eb but also retain enough tension in lower tunings. I had been using the Not Even Slinky set and found the higher strings for be a little too thick and the lower a little too thin. So, I decided to give these a shot. I remove the .28 (Normally the 4th string) and that way, I have regular 11s at the top but super heavy strings at the bottom. When tuned to my signature Eb, they retain a lot of tension and are good for a nice chugging sound. When tuned any lower than Drop C, they start to lose a little tension, but still stay manageable. I'd say the lowest comfortable tuning is Drop A before they get too floppy. Overall great strings, EB is the best!Ryan
Ernie Ball Strings are great. They have a lovely "twang" to them when brand new. However, I DO like their Paradigm Strings the most, as they last for 6 months or more before I need to change them. Those Ernie Ball Paradigm Strings are the best, longest lasting strings that I have ever used. I wish Artist Guitars stocked the EB Paradigms (I'd have given a 5* Rating instead of 4* if they had Paradigm Strings). If/when they DO start to stock them and if their price is right, I'll purchase them for ALL my 7 or 8 guitars! Overall: Have been using these stings on my Basses for almost 12 years now.Both my Basses are 4 string Ibanez Soundgears.One is a vintage SR400FL fretless, & the other is an SR540ZWBBT, with Bart. These were my first set of flats. Put them on my dual pickup active bass. Took some getting used to, but have come to the conclusion that I prefer them. These strings are quite a bit stiffer than rounds, but that seems to suit my style OK. The price is a bit high, but again, considering how long flats typically last, it's not a huge deal. They are brighter than I thought they would be. You can still get highs from the G string to sing out nicely. Have just purchased a second set to put on my passive jazz bass. Will post a review for them once I've installed them and tried them for a while.Larry
Although there is a break-in period for these strings, I am aware of how they perform. I use them in all three of my bass guitars. In comparison to what I had in my basses, these strings give you that deep, smooth, full sound that I enjoy hearing. I've only had my 6 string for about a year (ibanez BTB686SC terra firma) i didn't notice any rattle or anything after a small adjustment to my bridge. I just started playing 6 string bass guitar. I do care about tension and sound of low B string since I have played 5 string bass. It sounds wonderful. The "new string sound" lasts very long.(I tried DR, but its "new string sound" went off quickly.) I do have fast and agressive slap style, and It has nice mid on string itself. These strings do sound great and easy to play but the one set I bought had a dead A string. I followed same protocol as always putting a sharp bend in the string just before cutting as you would do on any round core string to keep the core from slipping. I do this on my DR strings and never have a problem but this A string is dead from this set of La Bellas. Such a shame as the other strings sound awesome. I took the string off and made sure it wasn't twisted as this will also cause a dead string sound sometimes. Still no joy. Great strings but if you also find a dead string in your set, I wouldn't buy them anymore. I will try another couple of sets and be sure before I decide whether I will use these long term.Winston W.
I got lucky and won a pack of these, at some F bass event. I didn't think they would be that great, was expecting them to be average… After putting them on, I was surprised at how amazing they sounded, they have this top end to them I've never noticed on other strings. I remember the only guy who endorsed La Bella's was Jason Newstead. I would say these are similar to D'addarios xl nickel imho. But they felt a little slinkier to me. I got a set of the medium blue strings for free about six months ago and put them on my 74 P-bass. These strings have great feel and tone. I play for at least two hours a day and these strings still feel and sound like I just put them on. I had a set of the black strings on my 2004 jazz bass and they also sounded felt and sounded great. The only problem with the black ones is that they are really hard to see on a poorly lit stage. I replaced the black with the red. I can't imagine going back to using E. Balls or GHS Boomers again. what can i say, i have been using Ernie Ball Slinky's for almost twenty years.and would not think of any other string. they are so flexible, i think i am using regular guitar strings. it doesn't take a Hercules to pull the strings down to the frets. and they always have the sound i am looking for. look, i am going to shoot straight. most musicians are not rich.and struggle until that day(if it ever comes) we get discovered or finally break through. most of us don't. so, if i can get a string that allows me to do what i can with a bass, and sound like the most expensive bass ever made, at a price where i can eat dinner that night,that's a win-win. so whether i am playing for a bunch of my friends, or playing in some major concert venue.i will continue to use Ernie Ball products.david

Nice, lightweight strings with a good feel and excellent durability. The Slinky series give a great bright sound to the player, which is great for overall sound of the instrument. This lighter gauge I recommend for some of my beginner and/or younger students, especially while developing grip and finger strength. Postage from Artist was of course, super fast. Service is generally excellent, and while I have had some issues with their own brand products in the past, they've always played straight and fairly.

I initially bought these strings because my daughter thought they were "cool" and would look good on my solid black bass. And yes, they do really "pop" on stage and can really be seen from a good distance. What I have found is that the quality of the tone these strings produce is excellent! Great quality tone from top to bottom. Our sound guy had to completely EQ my bass on the board because of the richness of the tone. They react well when I want them to, and provide a long and steady tone when I need them to sustain. DR NEON HiDef green bass SuperStrings medium 4-string review: ACTIVATE! These strings grab a LOT of attention from the peanut gallery, so prepare to get plenty of compliments (I was quite surprised to not get jeered by the old war horses; EVERYBODY loves these things). They glow quite well under a black light, but you'll need a lot of it to work; during one show, a single 20w bulb on my mic stand just couldn't compete with the relatively low stage lights it was up against. The strings don't sound particularly different from anything I've used in the past, and feel pretty good to the touch, but I had quite a bit of experience with Elixir bass and acoustic strings before hand, which have a similar texture. Just be warned that these don't feel like metal at all. I had my first set of these for about 8 months before my E string (really?!) broke, right down at the bridge over the saddle. I was miffed, but I was impressed enough with the strings to order a second set. The wear and tear on the coating wasn't really that bad, and I use a pick 80% of the time. I just purchased the DR Neon Green strings and installed them on my Fender P-Bass. I have never used DR's before so I didn't know what to expect.They are very bright and seem to be wound well. I'm still stretching them out so I haven't played too much with them, yet. From what I can tell, they sound very good and bright- haven't plugged into my Ampeg yet. As for the reviews that say that they are hard on the fingers- maybe people who haven't developed caluses on their fingers (who don't play often) think that. They don't feel any worse than anything else. Actually, I think they feel even slicker than the Ernie Ball strings I usually use, but I have always applied Fast Fret to my strings. I guess time (and many gigs) will be the ultimate decision maker for me on these. From what I can tell, these should work-out very well. I use the power slinky's on my Ibanez 1070pbz and love them. I love their tone and and they're a very flexible string for medium gauges. I use the regular slinky's on my strat. I was using black diamonds, which are very hard to find around here and are almost 30 a pack and they're not very flexible and break easy during bends but I stuck with them for years just because I liked the tone. But I tried the EB's because of the good reviews and they're cheap and everyone sells them. Surprisingly the tone I liked from the black diamonds was VERY similar to the EB's but the EB's are SO much more flexible. I usually change my strings at least once a month maybe more because I like the fresh tone, but at 5 a pack you can afford to change them often. I play daily at least a couple hours and it's usually blues and rock so I'm hard on the strings. The 30 set didn't seem to hold their fresh out of the pack sounds any longer. Played Rotosound roundwound standard gauged for my near entirety of bass playing. Eventually switched over to their flatwounds and was able to get a much more classic "motown" like vibe on my precision bass. I always felt that my bass strings were always a little stiff and thought maybe I'd try a lighter gauge. While some of that nice thump that I loved is not nearly as prominent, these bass strings are ridiculous. Never thought I'd be able to bend a whole step on my bass guitar with ease. With having two projects going, and one using d-g-c-f tuning, thought I would try the heavy gauge strings on a recent pawnshop purchased 1993 mim fender jazz. I don't know what gauge the old strings were, but I knew they were too light. After putting the new strings on, a few cranks on the truss rod, and setting the intonation it sounds amazing 😉 Always did like GHS strings anyway.Hoffy
I recently bought these, and while I do think they have bright, booming tone, I believe I may have gotten a dud in the mix. I've got about 2-3 hours on them, and while the rest of the strings still sound very bright and full, the .115 is now dull and dead. Unplugged, it is barely audible, and plugged in, it doesn't keep up at all with the rest of the strings. I don't think these are bad strings, though. And all the good reviews seem to suggest I just got a bad set. The tapered ends and the wraps around them make them much easier to string, especially on smaller tuning pegs. Would buy again if I could be guaranteed better QC.

I have been playing these strings for over a year now, and I love them. My band plays tuned down with multiple alternate tunings, and these strings have never let me down. I always had a problem with string flutter, and could never get rid of the muddiness in my tone. These strings have totaly erased those problems. They are very stable, stay in tune, and are durable. Would never play anything else
This is my 7th set of DR brand strings and the first time a string has snapped from supposedly being to tightly wound, even though with all the strings on it wasn't even close to being up to tune. Although all the other strings made it there with out any issues. The string that snapped on mine was the 4th or "E" string. None the less DR makes the best strings you will EVER play.
Hi I'm a solo musician … i use a lot of looping during my set and there times when i like to tune my 4 string down to a B on the E strings when i create a bass line for looping and these strings can handle totally IT! they stay in pitch even when tuned down NO SLIPPING out of pitch, great for tuning down and using a synth effect pedal to get really FAT BASS tone.

Nice, lightweight strings with a good feel and excellent durability. The Slinky series give a great bright sound to the player, which is great for overall sound of the instrument. This lighter gauge I recommend for some of my beginner and/or younger students, especially while developing grip and finger strength. Postage from Artist was of course, super fast. Service is generally excellent, and while I have had some issues with their own brand products in the past, they've always played straight and fairly.

I am really satisfied with these strings, I used to put Thomastik flats on my basses, but these chromes are my newest favorites. Nice and easy to play, more defined high's and lows, smooth like a baby's buttock and a real joy to hear in the mix! I've been using thomastik jazz set and while they are a great string with great tone I wanted to try something heavier with a little bit more tension/resistance. I was familiar with chromes I was hesitant…pleasantly surprised with the tone, gauge and overall responsiveness of the string. Now the thomastik strings feel like floppy rubber bands (great for solos) but for grooves and holding down the bottom the chromes are the way to go…on a side note…while not impossible, if you like tapping These strings are not for you….Janep

Can't say enough good things about these strings. The flat wounds allow your fingers to slide smoothly up and doen the string, making your playing more legato and connected. The sound they produce is great and I've actually received compliments on how good they sound. Highly recommend, they're the only bass string I'lll use!
Plus points: low tension. Upright bass sort of sound. Nice sound a little bit brighter than flats. Negatives: thicker than normal strings makes action feel higher than it actually is. A bit rattley – you'll probably need to raise at the bridge. They don't have the same conducting effect as steel/nickel strings so you can get some earthing noises when you contact the strings.block.inlays
