When I ordered this amp I expected to change out the tubes for JJs because if recommendations in the reviews I read. The stock tubes in this particular amp didn't produce any rattle and also provided plenty of clarity and bass. I don't sense the need to change out the tubes. This amp has more head room than my 1×10 2013 '65 Princeton Reverb Reissue Amp and I'll say its louder. The Vox Ac10c1 doesn't have a footswitch input installed onto it, if you want to switch from reverb to gain you will have to do it by hand as youre playing. The gain is rich, its a decent factory built in, the gain effect on my 4×10 2003 Fender Concert Reverb Amp doesnt sound nearly this good, if you buy the newer Marshall 20 watt tube amp or their MG solid state series amps their gain effects have a thinner, more static sounding than gritty sound to them. Vox amps have that more lush grit sound, akin to the sound we hear in the songs Ripcord and Vegetable by Radiohead (though Thom Yorke uses a turbo rat pedal) Haven't tried the Ac10c1 with a drummer, setting the Ac10c1 on an amp stand to project the speaker upward or placing this amp on a table should work just fine. The portability and light 27 pound weight are a huge plus if you decide on taking this amp anywhere. With this amp in one hand and a guitar stand and your guitar in a case in the other hand- you will be able to comfortably enter to set up and exit to load up in single trips. I originally expected to change the amp handle out for a leather handle but this vinyl handle is pretty thick. While playing through this amp, you can really feel and hear the nuances of its tube sensitivity while strumming and if you dig in with a pick, you can go from soft to really loud. Turn up the gain and your tone breaks up but still retains clarity. Having the gain wide open and master volume down means you can still have the saturated crunch but not disturb others . Perfect for home use but would not be out of place in a small pub gig. Takes pedals will and with a multi-fix like a GT 100, if you disable the amp sim and use like a conventional pedal board, you don’t lose any quality of the AC10’s natural tone. Its loud for its size. Seems built well. Have had no bad issues. Cons- clean isnt near as loud as w the gain cranked up. No reverb. Every guitar player on God's green earth should have one. The different tones offered with the app inspire you to play differently. It allows you to play along with the songs you love, and download the tone. It also tells you the chord progression to the song. It's an amazing Amp, and if nothing else the GREATEST speaker in the world. I could absolutely ruin my neighborhoods night with the most absurdly clear version of my favorite songs. But I could Also practice at midnight with out waking up my roommates using my headphones.

As a practice amp, you will soon lose interest if the tone is thin, boxy and generally sounds like crap. The Spark is none of this. An incredibly wide range of tones are available via the app with sounds that you just don't expect to come from such a small package. The sound is loud, rich without the boxiness that you seem to get with amps loaded with small speakers. If you've used PG's Bias software, you'll be in very familiar territory – great emulations that have a depth that rivals some of the serious modelers available now. The effects, while not giving you a massive selection, supplies pretty well every type of effect you would ever need. The reverbs and delays are particularly good and while more than good enough for noodling at home, are more than up to the task of recording. The unit is quite sturdy with a timber cabinet and looks great – very traditional with an "English" type of styling. Using the Spark as a Bluetooth player for music is more than up to the task – good bass, clean mids and treble and loads of volume. The app overall is very good with some truly inspiring practice opportunities, though the function where the app analyses your playing and constructs a suitable backing track is hit and miss and is probably the weakest part of the app. Bluetooth connection for both control functions and audio playback is stable and very quick to pair with your device. Overall, I don't think you will find and amp sounding this good with the flexibility and functions available, from anywhere else and that is before taking into consideration, the extra functions the app gives you.Mick G.
I bought this amp on the back of all the rave reviews on YouTube etc. For me, it's just not a finished product yet. It feels very "beta". The hardware seems robust and of good quality. The modelled sounds are very good, albeit very bass heavy. But most of that can be EQ'd out. There are several problems I couldn't live with, and had to sell it on. The hum problem which is due to the supplied, un-earthed PSU was very apparent in my example. I contacted Positive Grid support about the issue in December 20, and as of selling the amp at the start of March 21, I had not yet received the replacement PSU. There are temporary workarounds, but I wanted the problem sorted permanently. As said above, the sound is very bass heavy. The amp models' EQ can be used to deal with the guitar tone, but music playback through the unit via Bluetooth has no EQ control, so the sound quality is very poor. In addition to this, the playback level is far too high. When using as a Bluetooth speaker it is very difficult to get the volume low enough using the tiny trim pot volume control for comfortable listening when sat in close proximity to the unit. The Auto Chords feature is a gimmick and needs serious work. It only works for E standard guitar tuning. For example, when listening to a song in dropped standard tuning such as "Yesterday" (guitar tuned down one whole step) Auto Chords will show fingerings for F, Em, A7 etc instead of the G,. F#m, B7 shapes that are required. At the very least, a "transpose" button is required to allow for dropped standard tunings that are very common. When using the tuner, you have to look at the lights on top of the amp. The app should have a screen that displays the tuner on your connected device when in use. The app metronome tempo can only be set by tap. It should have the ability for the user to enter the exact required BPM by inputting the figure required, or selecting the tempo with up and down or + and – controls. All of these niggles were too much for me to live with. Hopefully Positive Grid implement the changes in future releases, but I won't be buying Spark again until they do.Paul

This amp is fantastic. For someone that is so used to having different modellers, tube amps, multi fx and stompboxes this is now all I need. I've been meddling with allsorts kf gear for 17 years in my search for tone. I feel I am now at the end. Managed to dial in 4 very usable great sounding patches in minutes just using the front panel, something I've not been able to do with any amp or modeller in a while. It djents, it can do blues crunch, it can do straight rock grit, chimey clean, and just big standard chuggy metal very well. It's quite light, but when you turn up the volume you can feel air moving, like you can with a much bigger cab or with a valve amp. For a 1×12 it isn't boxy at all, very open sounding. The Waza speaker is very harsh in the top and highs to begin with when you first switch it on, but after a few hours use the speaker breaks in and the harsh highs all disappear. For someone that has always used Celestion V30's this Waza speaker is just amazing and I'm definitely leaving it as is! The dynamic response to picking and rolling your volume knob down is just how a valve amp responds – light picking = cleaner tones. Dig in with your pick and the amp comes alive. Fantastic all round amp, Boss really have nailed it with this one.
Just picked one of these and it's been a joy to play. Pretty easy to use with quite a few options. Was able to dial in some tones that sound like my $800-1k tube amps. Honestly this amp is the best bang for your buck amp available imo. I really love the Waza Craft Greenback speaker. I love the .5, 50,100 watt options. Haven't even explored the software yet but I'm confident enough in this amp to give it a 5 star already. This of course is keeping in mind the fact it's essentially a budget amp price. Sound: Right out of the box? I didn’t even adjust EQs. Set volume and gain, and started playing. Took 0 effort to get 98% of the way to my live tone that is an Orange Rockerverb 100W MK2 and Marshall 212 with V30s. Features: I love the Tone Studio. I did have to pull a star from Ease Of Use because it may be confusing if you’re not good with computers. Ease of Use: If you can’t get a good sound out of this amp, return it, sell your guitars, and find a new hobby. That’s how easy getting a good sound out of this is. Quality: Seems pretty decent. I wouldn’t call it robust, but it doesn’t FEEL as cheap as the price would suggest. Value: 100% worth the price. I’d have paid $100 more for it if I’d have known how good it would sound. Manufacturer Support: I’ve dealt with Roland/Boss in the past, and they’ve always been wonderful. The Wow Factor: Looks good, sounds good, price is good. A perfect practice amp, that could stand in for a small venue in a pinch. Naturally my live rig is a bit much for my apartment, but this is just what the doctor ordered. Overall: Solid state amps have come a long way. A REALLY long way. I’ll be honest, being a tube snob, I had very low expectations. Going back and forth between the LT25 and LT40s to compare identifical presets, both sounded good and similar even with the differences in cabinet and speaker size. A subjective impression is that the LT25 sounded a bit more distant or maybe dispersed. The LT40s sounded a bit more focused. It was a tough call as the LT25 is less expensive but I walked out of there with the LT40S. For desktop placement and low volume practice, the LT40s sounds great and with plenty of low end. I don't need loud volume but this amp can fill a 16'x24' loft with sound. The USB connection to my laptop was initially a no go. After deleting and then reinstalling the application, it has sinced worked great!Wally
I wanted an amp for practicing that gave me a massive range of options for a reasonable amount of money. I have to say that I am very impressed with the 30 included presets and I've not even branched out into the additional ones you can add. The quality of the LT25 is fantastic, not super heavy and all the switches feel robust. I've found the sound can vary depending on the preset you choose though that is to be expected with those that have high gain. I mostly play clean and blues and this amp is fantastic for both of those. If you want a more classic rock sound there is a preset for this which I think needs a bit of tweaking. All in all very impressed and as this is my first Fender amp, I will definitely be getting another in the future.Alex G.

The built in presets all sound amazing and are easy to switch between, if you arent super techy and dont want to fiddle with the online fender tone aspect of it all the provided presets are enough to give you just about any tone you could want. It gets pretty loud for its size I dont think Ive cranked it higher than 1/2 way in respect for my neighbors. The headphone jack is also great because it always me to play silently into the night without disturbing those around me. Its super light as well and has a handle on the top of the amp so its easy to move around. It seems pretty durable, I obviously havent gone kicking it off a stage or anything but it should withstand a curious puppy or rambunctious child tripping over it a few times. Overall its a great option that doesnt break the bank if you just need something a little more travel friendly or are a first time player like me. My favorite thing about it is how many sound options it has laid out built in or online because I didn't immediately have to dump $1000 on pedals to get the sound that I wanted. (For reference I've been playing my Ibanez Gio GRX70QA with this amp just attached by a Fender original series 10ft cable)

I am very happy with this practice amp. Newer bassists will want something with more punch to jam with in the garage. Those of us that either have a separate gigging amp or a simple need for portability and in-home use will find that this is a great buy. The tone is great and the rhythms are essential for practice. If you play slap or with a full range or bright sound, this is an amazing practice amp. It will provide plenty of bedroom level volume, with amazing effects and amp emulations. In the Roland tradition, it is solidly built without a single rattle or vibration. It is all you need to practice bass. However, it is NOT for the deep, no treble player. If this is you, go elsewhere. You simply cannot produce a deep, bass-heavy sound (at any usable volume) with 5 watts, without the kind of high end processing that is used on studio mastered recordings. If you doubt this, try playing your bass through the MP3 input on a portable or bookshelf audio system that you think has killer bass. You'll see my point as soon as you boost the bass. Great little amp. I like to go dry camping in my RV, and I like to practice my bass lines when I am out like this. Perfect for practicing. It is battery powered and the batteries last about 10 hours. Perfect for low volume, high quality sound, of my bass. It comes with effects (reverb, etc) and a drum machine. The problem I have is the crunch, lead, the dirty tones to me sounded very tinny. I played around with it for an extended time and when I cut the treble back to 0 it sounded slightly better. But then I realized it would never sound as good as my Bugera does. I guess they call it tube emulation but IMO it's not quite there yet or at least Boss hasn't mastered it yet. Based on a friend's recommendation, I purchased a new Boss Katana 100 MK 2 in June 2021. The first thing that impressed me was it's power…it seemed to be a real 100 watts in a portable and lightweight package. I was able to dial in some useful tube-like tones right from the start with the clean channel. The Katana warmed up quickly to single coil or hum bucking pickups. The tone "variations" are also very useful for dialing in the right sounds to your liking. The delay adds the right amount of sparkle to your overall sound…very cool! Unfortunately, I was not able to get much help from the Boss Tone Studio when I downloaded it to the amp. (The response was: "Amp not connected"). Another disappointment is no Boss Tone Studio for iOS users…really guys? The required Boss foot switch is another issue…look online to see pedal "hacks" that use standard one-button or two-button formats. (Save a few bucks with a regular pedal). All in all: I'm very pleased with the amp. The line-in is a great feature to use with backing tracks along with the headphone jack for late night practicing. The basic amp tones has a realistic tube texture that reminds me of Marshall, Fender or Vox models.Scotty, M.
I have had the 50 watt for several months which is a great amp, but decided I wanted more foot switching options provided by the GA-FC controller. I figured if I was to buy the 100 watt it might as well be a 2X12. The 100 2X12 sounds awesome. And it is really loud to play at home even on the .5 watt setting. I'm tired of messing with tube amps and effect pedals so the Boss Katana series is just what I need. I have not dived in to the software and deep settings on either amp yet. These are apparently had to get. SAM Ash had it on backorder from Boss. The web and phone support at SAM Ash is great. Chris from phone support helped me complete the order and was super knowledgeable and helpful throughout. He even called me back a couple of times to update status and follow up once it was delivered. Oh… And the 2X12 is way heavier and bigger than the 1X12.Pupster

I bought this amp at a local Sam Ash store. I actually kept it for 46 days, but they let me return it anyway – excellent service. I had an old Vypyr 15 that I liked, and I wanted to step up to a bigger amp. The Vypyr 3 is 100 watts, and has an LCD readout, so I got it. At first, I thought it sounded pretty good, except for a few things. However, after playing it for some time, and acquiring a Jackson guitar with a Duncan JB bridge pickup, I began noticing that the distortions, while smooth, didn't have much in the way of clarity. They sound fine with run-of-the-mill power chords, but anything more complex than that got kind of muddy. The reverb and delay sounded pretty good, but the other effects were just sort of OK, except for the pitch-shift effects such as 7-string, baritone and bass, were just lousy. The 7 string was almost acceptable, with only a little latency, but it had a strange warbling sound. The baritone, and especially the bass models had way too much latency, and with the bass model, the strings need to be hit pretty hard, or there is just not much sound. Do not expect to make your guitar sound like a bass with this amp. The high-gain amp models have a strange decay, almost as if they have a noise gate set very high. Either you get feedback (which sounds fine), or the sound just drops off. I think that as I'm becoming more serious about the guitar (I'm actually a bass player who has played guitar off-and-on throughout the years), I'm realizing that maybe I don't like modeling amps. After I returned this one, I picked up an Orange Crush 35RT (also from Sam Ash) which is pretty cool. No built in effects, except for reverb, but a great sound.Stelth
It's a Great Unit the software is lacking bad. Also they took about a dozen amps from 1st gen & gave us a bunch of nonsense toy like special Fx you'll never use. I wish they would kept the old amp models & left the Electric Violin & Synth model & the Resonator Gtr 12 string…no body's going to use that stuff that what I expect from Zoom old processors they were full of Useless Patches big WOW Factor but useless in creating music. I love the Vypyr series this was a let down but some great stuff like the Bass Amps sound Great & the Acoustic well….they can pass. The Power Sponge does a cool thing to the sound you need the Sanperea Foot controller to unlock this Amp w/out it you would have no Looper Wah or Vol….It's still got some solid tones in there, the construction is not up to Peavey's former USA built Gear RIP Peavey USA. PV could take this Amp so much further they would be on AXE FX back if they kept the momentum going in R&D they should stack those SHARC chips for more Processing power & more Loop time , there's 24 bit loopers for under a bill that record 6 Hours!!!Watchman
I own the Vypyr 75 the VIP 2 and now the VIP 3. I am particular about sound and feel. I own tube amps. I have more than 7 modeling amps. I have a home studio and band practice at my home. Nobody brings an amp. This is the best tube sound of any amp I own except my tube amps but the tone is better on the VIP 3. If you like metal such as Pink Floyd, Satriani, Steve Vai,Van Halen Toto, Boston, Gary Moore, all of 80s Metal, this is the amp for you. The included Triple x amp is the best articulate and balanced metal sound I have used. The 6534 is the fattest lead tone I have ever used. The Twin is darn good and with chorus and compression it does a fabulous 12 string. The Acoustic amps are great and the acoustic SIM is exceptional. Most metal factory presets are set too hot in gain. Back down the gain. The Power Sponge is the most improved from the original Vypyr series.It really sounds like a top of the line tube amp cranked except that the sweet spot stays sweet and the bass stays tight. TUBE AMPS GET FLUBBY BASS WHEN CRANKED. This amp has booming power and it is hard to believe how light it is. The best for smooth distortion and cutting edge tube response. Better than tubes in my opinion. Tubes fluctuate with room temperature and overheat when cranked then clearity becomes compressed. I have been approached repeatedly about my onstage sound. I have a Mustang 3 and a VIP 3, one above the other. It is an incredible combo. Best of two worlds. One doing awesome Classic Rock cleans and classic rock rythns, the other doing phenomenal metal but both do all very well.

I have bought and sold several amps over the past few years, and I think this one's the keeper. It reminds me a bit of the katana 50 in that it has lots of features – but it is far easier to figure out how to use. I wish it had a slightly smaller footprint, for portability's sake, but the sound and usability make up for it. I also wish manufacturers would provide more useful documentation, but there are lots of helpful videos on the web. From clean, to crunch, to filthy – and some Fender Vibratone if you like – this amp can do just about anything.CR

I used the acoustic channel for jazz ukulele and it sounds great as well.James

Not only does this 5 watt lil' monster have enough power to rattle the windows, it also has class! At only 9 lbs. the Bugera T5 Infinium has enough "UMFF" to push your favorite 4X12" cabinet into the stratosphere! It's better having this reverb built into this lil' madman than not having any at all. Just like 9/10 of the other amp heads in its class. The 1 channel, "all tube" head has warm cleans. Push in the PHAT switch and crank the volume and gain and you get saturated distortion that will blow you away! All of that in a 9 lb metal cage like package for only $200! You won't find another 5 W head with all of that for this price. I love my T5 Infinium from Bugera!brmul-8207
Bought this head for 162 ChF and combined with the Vox BC108 (85,-) it is a fantastic value. I should say, it is my first all-valve amp so I can't make many comparisons, but here is my general review. The amp reacts very nicely to changes in my guitar's output. Turning down the guitar volume or playing very softly gives me a clean sound even with lots of gain. The distortion is generally very harmonic and fuzzy. You can absolutely get a metal tone from this with a set of (higher output) humbuckers. You will need the "Phat" switch for anything high-gain, which will bypass the EQ, but to me it sounds great. The reverb sounds quite good and is very useful. The build quality and looks seem top-notch. There are three minor drawbacks. Firstly, even at 0,1 Watt it's fairly loud. Absolutely fine for lower gain tones, but late night metal in an apartment will be tough. Secondly, with headphones plugged in, the attenuator (wattage setting) is bypassed, so depending on the headphones high gain tones might deafen you. Thirdly (and this is a very minor nitpick), the Bass and Treble knobs don't have as much range as I'm used to. TLDR: Overall if you're looking for a simple old-school head with a fantastic value, this surely has to be it. All of my (admittedly nitpicky) issues with it can be fixed with an overdrive pedal.
First impression: On unboxing, the T5 did not make a great first impression. I thought it was B stock! It was literally covered in fingerprints! That greasy fingerprint look just doesn’t go well on black and chrome. It also had what looked like a tape glue mark near the logo. I got a good clean with a dry cloth. What a beautiful looking piece of gear this is, a vintage look that is to die for. The Bugera T5 Infinium Tube Amplifier is well built. It is heavy, certainly but well supported by a sturdy leather vintage style handle that makes it super portable. Tall rubber feet gave the T5 plenty of clearance to avoid cab handles. The front panel: The front panel sports a standard input jack socket, 5 Knobs, a “Phat” switch, a jeweled power light and a power switch. There is no “standby” switch. A matching chrome and black Bugera logo fronts the chrome cage. The controls: The Gain control increasingly pushes the amp into saturation as it is rotated clockwise producing a very usable overdrive. The treble and bass controls work as one expects – nothing unexpected there. The reverb was something of a surprise. Sounding rather “springy”, especially when added tastefully. A super reverberant wash is available beyond the 12 O’clock position. The Volume knob, perversely, does not seem to add volume. There is hardly and noticeable difference at all between the 11 o’clock position and when fully clockwise. Where the REAL volume push lies, is with the Phat switch. The Phat switch boosts the volume while bypassing the EQ. It certainly does make a huge difference – when engaged, one never wants to switch it off! The Back Panel: Power is via 3 pin IEC “kettle” plug. Also here are two quarter inch jacks. The first is for a 4 ohm speaker, although this is labeled as a minimum load, you can use 8 or 16 ohm cabs. The second jack is for headphones. Extra points to Bugera for not using a mini jack here! Bugera eliminate bias issues using what they call their “infinium” system. LED indicators show when a tube needs replacing. The T5’s is next to the phones jack socket. Inside: Under the hood things also look great but you will only really get to see this if you are curious or wish to swop out or replace tubes. Removing the cage reveals the transformers, tubes and a screen printed Bugera logo – it’s like an art piece! The tubes are very secure and it takes some determination to remove them – a good thing as secure is better. The inside of a T5 chassis reveals considerable digital circuitry – probably the reverb. Performance: For 5 Watts the T5 is certainly much louder than one expects. If your personal history is primarily solid state amps, this amplifier will be a wake up call as to why guitarists everywhere have refused to abandon tubes for so long. Blues tones from the T5 are beautiful – everything from almost clean to great crunch – everything a blues player looks for. Let down: I REALLY wanted this amp but it was let down by one thing. The amp I was using had an unpleasant "fuzzyness" when trying to get the cleanest possible sound out of it. This "fuzzyness" hung in the dying tail of a note and sounded exactly like a crossover problem in a push pull amp – but this is a Class A amp so how could that be?! When playing power chords it sounded like intermodulation – something didn’t sound right to me. Ironically, "digital noise" in my digital practice amp is WHY I wanted a tube amp in the first place! This was a different type of noise but just as distracting. I had no EL84’s so couldn't test that – but I did have a lower gain 12AU7 tube so was able to swop that with the 12AX7 hoping like crazy that it was a tube issue and that the problem would vanish (because I really DID like this amp) but it did not help. In the end, I reluctantly packed up the T5 and returned it. If you do get a chance, try one, I recommend this simply because if I just got a dud or damaged B stoc

I'm a Fender fan to the core. I love their electric guitars and amps but their Amps aren't even affordable anymore. They've completely out priced themselves and either you are going to pay for a severely overpriced bare bones amp or a severely overpriced amp with far more electronics than a lot of us care to deal with. This is a great sized combo amp that's easy to use and has a great sound and plenty of power and all at a great price!!! There is no reason Fender couldn't do more of this…combo's that aren't easy to use with plenty of effects and a fair price for blue collar musicians. I used a Fender Princeton Chorus combo this same size mic'd through a sound system for over two decades and it started having issues. This was the closest amp I could get (and afford). The 100 has everything you need in a combo amp and at a fraction of the price of everything else Fender makes. Buy it! You won't be disappointed!Josh
I bought this amp because my gig amp died a cyber twin 2-12s 100 watts that was about 16 years old. I have had many Fender amps they were great. I do country and 50s and 60s rock and roll. I figured 100 watts would put it out there and it does. At performing volume, the distortion is a pure heavy metal on the clean channel. Mine is not much good for high volume for my type of music. I have an old champion 110 75 watt that I will be using It has worked for me when the others were down. Not sure what to do.stev_majo
Sound: With the second channel .First it had the twin reverb and super sonic voicing with a chain loop for pedals I was set on that alone. When it got to the house and realized I didn't need my pedal chain and it sounds amazing even though ill still use my pedals here and there. The bassman, tweeds , Princeton all clean or dirty are amazing to play . again to get those sounds with out the tubes and speakers is amazing.. You get volumes that punch against you that are clear without any nasty whitenoise or unwanted sounds. the dirty settings added with the compression build in make all that possible. Outta all my guitars I enjoy to plug into this amp .My 63 firebird , g400 s.g. and my jaguar Ease of Use: Its real easy for me to get the sounds I need .I'm well aware of all the amps they used for the voicing.For new players it might take a little to understand but with no time you'll understand how to dial it in and add the right effects to the amp models to get those amazing fender amps . Quality: Only had it for a week but as for holding it up and down 3 flights of stairs at the studio in Philadelphia id say the strap is well build . Speakers have not blown but I have not had to dial all the way up amps loud as it is half way . Value: yes it is im surprised its not another $100 more.Wish more companies would do this. Manufacturer Support: No problems yet . But in the past fender has always been amazing to me. Overall: (DON'T LET THE $399 TRICK YOU)When dialed up there are so many different fender amps you have here. First off the blackface style clean channel is just amazing. id say that its a twin or deluxe especially when you dial in the spring reverb only thing missing to call it that are the speakers/tubes but fender has made it very clear they can accumulate that sound with out the tubes . I know the tubes will make a difference but not much to this amp unless you have the trained ear for tubes you can't tell.The 2nd channel with all the voice modeling Id say every setting is 99.7 spot on with the models . I love this amp .After watching a few videos online of the 100 I decided to go with it .My friend has the champion 50 so I have already played through this style of amp. When I saw the 2×12 combo version with a double channel pedal it was set in stone . I love combos more than any kind of amp . I came on zZounds looking for an amp to hit the road to the higher states of the new England area of the states in November and December and a long ride from New Jersey to Chicago and Milwaukee in January . the amazing price for a well build and sounding amp there was no way i wasn't gonna leave the website with out another toy.So after adding to the card I headed over to guitars and ordered the squier 70s classic vibe jaguar .One of my favorite things about this amp is I don't have to change out the speakers to get that sound I want. its easy for me to use because I know how to dial in the right sounds to get the sound of the amps in amp unit.Mike

This is a remarkable little amplifier. The positive reviews are all justified. Very diminutive, even senior management, who tends to frown when black boxes arrive, approves. And it produces a variety of great tones in remarkable amounts bearing in mind its small size. I use it for practice. Although it has a bass setting you can program via the phone kit, the speaker is not as good as a basic bass amp like a fender rumble. The default presets sound the best, and if you need a different sound, it's probably best to use pedals on the clean setting. The effects aren't as good as I hoped for. The chorus effect is nice; but delay, reverb, and spring could be loads better. It gets the job done and I wasn't needing the other effects to be there at all so a good purchase for me, but if you need all the features to be awesome, look elsewhere.Waukegan

It's not the greatest amp ever but the sound is absolutely amazing and, most importantly, versatile. You can get so many sounds out of this thing that you realistically wouldn't need any other amp for gigs or recording unless you're an audiophile/perfectionist. Almost any band sound that you'd like is just a community created patch away, it's truly incredible, as long as you have a PC/Mac/Android device plugged into it. The sounds that are built in are still amazing, just a little limited and require some learning to use the effects. Still, you won't find anything near this price that gets you the same quality sound, volume, or variety of uses. The learning curve is nothing compared to the thought and cost of trying/buying dozens of guitar effect pedals – which you can still do, or even use this as an amplified cab for your preamp of choice. If you have a few hundred dollars to try something new then it's worth it. Also worth it if you're looking to upgrade from a practice amp, or need an amp to gig, or don't have the money for pedals, or need to record on your computer, or many other situations. It's worth trying. At worst you'll lose $100 buying it new and reselling it on the off chance you don't like any of the MANY tones you can get from this beast.l_burnett87
BOSS created the product like a boss, and confirms it's the boss on this market. I own the old 50 watt Katana and the Katana Mini. Both are great. Just bought the Katana 100 mk2, and yes, after whole day spent on setting and playing – I love it. Whatever you need – crispy or warm cleans, crunch or hi-gain sounds you will get it from this amp. Plus – lot of BOSS stomp boxes available as plugins (7 at a time, where 5 manageable by additional GA-FC foot switch). Bit ugly, but fully working BOSS Tone Studio software for setting each aspect of this amp and available effects). Total 9 presets (channel Ax4, channel Bx4 plus "Panel"). Combined with switchable effects quite ok to play a gig. Considering the price/value ratio this amp is an unbeatable champion on the market. I bought a week ago KATAlist from some multi-Line company, and I am sending it back. That thing is good only for couch, while Katana is great for practicing, recording and life shows (assuming you will buy the foot controller). To summarize: – great sounding – very flexible – very nicely priced – relatively small and lightweight You can't go wrong buying it.
Paired this head with my Zilla Cabs 2 x 12 and the sound quality and versatility is excellent. I have 4 well known valve amps, but I find that the Katana is more useful for home playing and practice, mainly because it's easier to get good tones from it at home volumes. It's handy having the Boss effects built in, certainly some of my dedicated pedals sound better but for home practice and recording, the Katana is a simpler plug and play solution. This is a great example of something that conforms to the 80/20 rule, if it does 80% of what I need, why waste time chasing down that other 20%? In fact, I'd say it's more like 90/10 in this case, the Katana MkII is a a great Swiss Army Knife of an amp.

I bought a Fender Champion XL 50 for a small light weight amp to bring to local jam sessions. I have to say I am not disappointed. I know there's no comparing solid state to tubesl when it comes to filling up a room with sound but this little amp cranks. It's closest competition is the Boss Katana and those are really nice. I like the ones I've played, but I'm really into that clean Fender sound and this amp has it in spades. You get the full range of cleans, from black or silver faces to tweeds. There's overdrive and high gain models in there too but as I said it's the cleans that sold me. It is a two channel amp, but I'm not sure why anyone would use the first channel as tall the digital goodies are on the second. That being said, the digital reverb in this amp has a bit of a whistle I don't like. Instead I used the chorus on the amp and a Boss Fender Reverb pedal. If your playing on a stage lugging around a forty pound tube amp may be the thing to do, but for sitting around a garage with friends this amp will save your back and please your ears.ADarkBard
I usually don't leave comments, but feel I must let the frustrated AMP user know, yes Jessica there IS a Santa Claus! Was looking for an AMP that was "SIMPLE" – On channel 1 ONLY the volume is usable, I didn't check but probably the Bass & treble too! On Channel 1 the gain control is set and turning the knob does nothing, and none of the FX are accessible! I was so busy checking out Channel 2 that I didn't check to see if Treble & Bass could be adjusted. You have 12 "Voice Settings" and 13 FX Selections. So I checked out all 12 Voice Settings combined with all 13FX settings – add this to checking these out with a single coil Strat and a Jazz/Full Shred Charvel DK24. I feel this is one of the BEST choices I have made in electric guitar choices! The AMP sound CLEAN!!!! I Imagine Channel 1 would be great with an Accoustic as well! Don't have one though! Channel 2 is GREAT and I don't need any more than it has to offer. It is so uncomplicated & stress free! If you are an expert guitar player and can concentrate more on AMP settings, rather than playing, then go for the Katana 50 MKII, or the VOX Cambridge. I was thinking hard on all three. When I got to GC I had pretty much decided on the Fender Champion 50XL. The VOX Cambridge is $150 to $160 more, with only $10 between the Fender & Katana. Since what is on the AMP is all my mind can handle, I decided to go with the Fender 50XL. It has to be on of the simplest AMPS to operate. I do have an Ibanez Tube Screamer, and if I have a need I can look at other pedals down the road. I do plan on getting a Cry Baby! Latter down the road I might get more pedals, but for right now this AMP has all I need. The Celestion Speaker sound GREAT! I couldn't be happier – it is as loud as I need – It's EASY to learn – NONE of the settings sounded muddy, muffled, or shrill. If I was going to get an AMP that needs a lot of downloading, I would have gone with the VOX Cambride. Glad I traded in my old AMP!Karl, M
Great overall amp. The obvious comparison is the Boss Katana 50. I tried both and I found I could dial in a sound I like from the Champion easier than the Katana. The Katana has way more features and the connect-ability. I prefer just plug in and playing which was far easier with the Champion. One of the largest selling points for me was the headphone jack feature for silent playing. The Champion has it right in front of the control panel and it's a 3.5mm jack. The Katana has one but its on the back and it's a 1/4inch jack which would require an adapter to 3.5mm. The location and the fact that it's 1/4in jack gave the Champion the edge. I also preferred that taller design of the Champion. It made it more comfortable to reach and adjust. Some of the cons are the knobs. especially for the "voice" and the "fx-select". A rotary knob would make it far easier to select the presets. Fender does provide a 3 color LED light that changes when you reach the next model or effect. However, a rotary knob that stops at the preset would be a better. Another con is that the reverb effect is combined with chorus and delay. I would much prefer it to be on it's own rather than combined. This is something that the Katana has. Overall the Champion is great for home use and I would recommend it to someone that wants a good amp that is easy to just plug and play. If you want more effects and enjoy experimenting then the Boss Katana would be a better choice.E. Bran

I don't understand all these raving reviews. I bought this amp without trying it first….my mistake. I have a Orange Crush 35w guitar amp and love it. Sounds great and plenty of power for a practice amp. So I thought based on that and all the great reviews that I would go for the Orange 50 bass amp. I have a Fender Rumble 25 and an Acoustic B30. So I wanted something with some more power. So I went for the 50w. Very anxious to hear it when it arrived, I plugged in my bass fired the amp up and thought something was wrong. I already had the volume half way up and it was still quiet. If I turn either the Rumble or the Acoustic half way up I can feel the volume. I was able to turn in all the way up! Which I really can't do with my other amps. The Acoustic B30 matched the Orange's volume (but with a much deeper feeling to it) while the Orange was all the way up and the B30 was only turned up to 1/4 volume. (9:00 position) So a 30 watt amp is more than twice as loud. And killed the Orange in the tone department also. Never thought the Acoustic sounded great, until last night. The Orange sounds like it's got a wet blanket covering it in comparison. Just totally weak volume and uninspiring tone that I was blown away by. Too bad in a negative way. I really thought I was going to love this amp based on reviews. The strange thing is that the only way to get more volume is to turn the gain up (it's not a guitar amp, Orange) and there goes your clean tone. The slightest amount of gain makes it growl. Which I admit isn't a bad sound with a little gain, but it should be an option to have the distortion or have it sound clean without needing the gain to boost the weak volume. I went back and forth between the Orange, Rumble 25, and B30, comparing tone and volume. Let's just say I have a new and appreciation for the Rumble and the B30. They both sound amazing in comparison. Orange makes great guitar amps, but I would call this bass combo a Lemon.Uncle T
This amp made me realise using a guitar amp for a bass wasn't nearly as good, the sound is very different. The quality and volume of the amp is much better than my old one, wven though its smaller. The tuner on the amp is a lot of help and tuning the bass much quicker. Its not too heavy and doesn't take up as much space as other amps I've had. Its is aesthetically pleasing, I love orange, the colour, and the logo on the front is a nice touch. There are 2 types of cables to plug this in, a uk and European cable so no need for an adapter. I dont normally write reviews but…. This amp is amazing! After my son played it for a few minutes his first comment was what I thought about him selling his tube combo. To me that spoke volumes. I bought the foot switch , a must have because it opened up the versatility of the amp, and now plan on purchasing an FV500L volume pedal to complete the package. Affordable / flexible / portable / (hopefully) reliable – no need to lug a pedal board around, just a tuner – less stress about whether modern flaky valves are going to pack up mid gig (several outdoor gigs with generators have turned me against using my valve amps for those). I have previously borrowed and gigged a friend's Katana 100 head and GA/FC, so knew what to expect. Really needs an external 8 / 16 Ohm speaker jack socket (c.f. I just played a club that holds about 300 using this amp and was very satisfied. After putting it through the paces in a live situation I would easily recommend this for the gigging guitarist. I ran the 100 watt full volume mode and kept it around 3 with the master volume up full in the clean mode. As I was using pedals, (The usual selection of overdrives and delays) I kept it in the default clean setting that comes right out of the box. The amp was mic'd with an sm57 and the speaker sounded great. Upon further inspection the variable output and full array of effects makes this a good choice for the home studio. Lightweight, loud and pretty inexpensive, I give it 5 stars.DrJ

Purchased the Orange Crush RT35 through Musicians Friend. The amp on its own is a joy. However, the send and return used with a pedal board loaded w/o overdrive properly transports this amp on the Clean channel to an extreme I've experienced on a tube amp level. I used a Walrus EB 10 parametric pedal then a reverb, delay and slight echo at the end of the chain. The amp incredibly warmed, thickened and boosted the tone to one that competes with any of the high end tube amps I have ever used. Totally shocked! I will experiment with the overdrive on the dirty channel and an OD on the front end very soon. I expect good results. For the money and it's being a solid state, it is super impressive and a great value. I did do a lot of research and comparison, took the plunge, and the payoff was more than I could expect. I just A/B'd it with a 40 watt Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (with this set-up) in a studio and it definitely held its own and, I feel, it sounded better. That's what I know.My customer service rep, Conner at ext 3119, chewed over Bugera V5, Boss Katana MK2, and the Orange RT 35. It's a budget amp so you can't expect it to do the same as an expensive one. With that said it just doesn't punch above it's weight, it's punching well above it's weight. I have a pre tube amp that has some tubes in it's pre amp, that isn't quite a full tube amp and this isn't quite a full tube amp either or on the face of i an any tube amp, being it's solid state, but it does sound as warm as the pre tube I have, so that's a bonus for me, I prefer warmer tones. So that means not only heavy rock/metal but some very nice bluesy soft rock tones as well. Bult in reverb sounds really nice. The tuner is perfect, no faffing around trying to dial in the tuning. Best tuner on a lower end amp yet and better than my clip on one I have. It has 4 stages of gain, if you will. So pretty versitile. The amp is loud. I never run it in the house over 3 on the volume. It has one volume for clean but the dirty dial is for the gain volume. And it's adjusting this and the gain knob that gets you all your tones for the not clean sounds Two seperate channels with a simple EQ to use for both. Amp is sturdy as you like, well built. And the clincher is the return and send loop on the back., which works very well, a lovely clean loop. The most surprising thing was you associate orange with rockier sounds but this is a nice clean amp too. I might even prefer the clean channel actually. My advice is see reviews for it. There is one thats 20 or so mins long and shows you all the settings and the tones you can find. No brainer for the price and probably worth 100 quid more if you ask me but don't say I told you so or they will put up the price.R O.
I admit I've cycled through several practice amps – a couple of Fender Champions, Marshall MG, Orange Crush Mini, Strymon Iridium, a bunch of headphone amps, etc. This one is a winner. I've always heard good things about Orange quality and longevity. I like the Orange clean sound but I admit it's not for everyone. I play ambient guitar, mostly clean, with some overdrive from pedals. You'd think Fender would be my thing, right? Nope, the Champions just don't sound good compared to the Orange Crush amps. Plus, this combo amp is built like a tank. At the moment I'm running a stereo rig with the Orange Crush 35 and a Marshall MG15 (modded with speaker out pushing a Marshall 1×12), both on clean channels only, and it sounds really good. I have a Super Crush 100 head on order and can't wait for that!Rob

I recently purchased an Orange rocker 15 from AMS after returning another brand. The one I returned was a highly rated hand wired tube amp. All reviews said said it was unbelievable and the holy grail of small tube amps. Well I am no expert but to me it wasn't worth the $ 1000.0 price tag. I saw a you-tube video on The Orange rocker 15 and thought Id give it a try. Everybody says get a good clean amp and use a pedal for distortion. No pedal can sound as good as this amp when it breaks up. And man it can break up. From classic rock thud to heavy saturation it does it all. You know that feel you get from that thick distortion. This amp can get LOUD at full power but can still sound great on the headroom/bedroom settings. Sorry no Fender can sound like this. The rocker 15 has a really good full sounding clean channel that isn't over the top sparkly, but I don't use that sound anyway. Give it a try, It grows on you really quick. I'm a mediocre musician, my gear is much better than I am. We have a jam night a couple of times a month for crappy errr aspiring musicians. People bring all kinds of amps and instruments. This little guy has great tone and keeps up with everyone else's gear for these practice sessions. Keys, drums, other amps, this amp hangs with the rest. I keep thinking it's 25 or 30 watts. I even run it at half power at times. True, no one is bringing big stacks or high powered amps. Still it will hold its own with a room full of other musicians. The clean channel has a real nice tone and you can crank up the dirt if you want. I use an Orange getaway Driver for extra dirt or as a boost. We play everything from amazing grace to Black Sabbath. This amp covers the whole spectrum. As always Sweetwater delivers good service great deals.
First I'll start with the Pro's of this amp 1. Fantastic Clean Tone. It is very dynamic and sensitive to pick attack. It really lets the sound of your guitar shine through, and with the tone knob and pickup selector I have not found any more EQ on the clean channel necessary. Turn it up and pick hard, you get a very nice break up, lay low and it shimmers. 2. Built solid. Birch plywood, heavy duty tolex, heavy duty chassis, good components, ceramic tube sockets, JJ tubes. A lot of places other amps cheap out, the Orange does not. 3. Adjustable power levels. Very bedroom and apartment friendly on .5 and 1 watt settings. 4. Volume and Portability. Enough volume to gig (I always mic my amps, but if needed it could still stay pretty clean over a drummer),easy to transport, and great weight and size. 5. Classic Rock and Modern Sounds. While I would not consider this a metal amp, it will still do a pretty good high gain modern sound and also classic rock crunch. 6. Tube effects loop. It sounds amazing with some chorus and delay in the loop. Now for the Cons 1. Mine arrived with tube rattle. I thought about sending it back but had an extra set of JJ EL84's and fixed the issue. I think it had more to do with the fact the UPS man threw the amp on my porch like a sack of potatoes. There was even a hole in the box from it hitting my rocking chair. It gave me chance to inspect the amps components and guts though. I also got a good deal on it, so it didn't bother me that much. 2. Low power modes (.5 and 1 watt) sound fizzy. It's nice being able to crank it up and play quietly, but the break up can sound fizzy. This goes away on the 7.5 and 15 watt modes. Honestly I think a headphone jack would have been a better idea. 3. Price. I think this amp may get looked over because you can get other 15 watt tube amps for less that even have reverb and some other desirable features 4. No footswitch. I will probably re review after 6 months of gigging abuse. But happy with my purchase.schwebel
