Best 10 Inch Guitar Speakers (2024 Update)

I hated the bright tone of my VHT special 6 until I found this speaker and installed it. Now it has a warmer more vintage tone.. like a tube amp is supposed to sound! Excellent replacement speaker for a tube amp!!homesteadhound

Holy smoke! I hear 'ya loud and clear, Electric Lightning 10"s! I stuck a pair in my Fender Custom Vibrolux (basically a hot-rodded '63 Vibroverb) which I have rebuilt to 1963 Vibroverb specs. Very true-sounding speakers. Extremely efficient, hardly any cone breakup, and super-tight with a very balanced EQ spectrum. They added significant weight to my amp compared to the stock Eminence AlNiCo speakers, but I'm glad I made the switch!Michael

Just replaced a mix matched set with a quartet of 10" Electric Lightnings in a Super Reverb. While they sounded tight at first, over several days they broke in like gold, both super clean or heavily preamped. The bass response is more round than ever, and with none of the mushiness I have associated many 10" designs. I'm able to run more low than ever and the low E string just sounds fantastic. They are stong/robust sounding, akin to the tone of 12" speakers. The highs really mellowed out and sing like I had hoped Overall the sound is simply huge, clear, and articulate at any volume. I would think any player will see benefits regardless of musical style. Great improvement and speaker!Brad

I've been through many, many 12s for Blackface style speakers. These are my faves. For good 60s tones in country and rock with a BF amp these guys work great. Take pedals well. Not shrill or muddy in my experience. Solid surfy bass. Smooth treble. 120 watts which is triple what I would ever throw at em. For a Deluxe or a Pro in a honkytonk bar, these are just the ticket.edol9871

For me the tones of these are somewhere in between American and British. I use these mainly in a 2×10 cab for a fender vibroverb style amp. Vs the Oxford speakers these have a lil more mid focus and rounded highs that work much better with higher gain tones. I also use these with my Marshall origin 50 set relatively clean to get a slightly bigger bottom end than V30s.RockinJohnson

I bought this speaker in the 16ohm version to replace a v30 in my orange ppc1x12. I love the v30 but I mainly use a 100w Marshall DSL100HR and the v30 by itself couldn't handle all that wattage since it's only 60watts. So I decided to go with the swamp thang cause a little more defined low end sounded like a good idea as I play a 7 string ltd (fishman fluence pups) half the time. But I was worried I would loose the highs that we need for attack in high gain situations as well as playing clean which I do very often also. But now that I've played tgrough this speaker I can say that is not a problem whatsoever. This speaker has twice the highs and twice the lows as my v30. Probably a little less midrange but since it's such a powerful speaker it doesn't feel like it's relying on mids the cut through. Full disclosure I've only had the speaker a few hours and played through it a little over an hour but if it sounds this good outta the box I'm confident things will only get better. It's a great sounding speaker in my opinion that would complement any style/set up. I plan on buying an empty Luke 2x12C cab from seismic audio soon so i can pair the ST and the v30 which im lookong forward to. But in the meantime im in no huge hurry since the ST sounds so good by itself.Michael I.

I wanted to try my hand at building my own bass cab to complement my amp head and because I wanted a quality sound I decided to go with Eminence, since you can find them in a lot of high end bass cabs like Ampeg and Basson. I didn't buy these at first, I bought the B102's instead and was disappointed with the end product. There wasn't enough clean low-end, and, I tuned the cab too low to compensate for that and it was a muddy tone that came out of an expensive set of speakers. So a year later I tried it again, but, I bought these on sale (BP 102's) and also bought the Eminence compression driver; Horn; Cabinet ready crossover. I now have a 210 bass cab that sounds better than any cab I've ever heard. I recently purchased a new bass amp (Markbass Big Bang) and together they are a match made in BASS HEAVEN. In fact without the purchase of the new amp, I may have never written this review, I've had theses speakers for over 2 yrs. So if you need to replace a 10" driver or you want to custom build a cab, this is the best driver for the money you can buy. But remember, without a tweeter or compression driver you'll be disappointed.Jmac

Searching for something better in my current upgraded ESS AMT3's, I took a change on these after modeling them in BassBoxPro. All I can say is wow!! These speakers totally kick some tail. Clean deep, and don't loose their composure under high volumes. However the biggest thing is detail. What better to produce bass guitar/drums like a live performance then a real bass guitar speaker?!?! Luckily these go lower then most, pretty amazing for the price. I have 2 of these in the AMT3 stock, but braced enclosure. 2.76 liter. Heavily damped with 1 1/2" foam on walls, and 2 sheets of Auralux 2" wedge foam directly behind the woofers. 2x 3" ports, 6" length. That tunes the box to 36 hz. Don't be afraid to tune low, the lower the better. They still can handle a ton of power, xlimit is 10 mm. Never cam close because the bass is tight, clean and deep. Well controlled, but oh so sensitive!! Wow the detail of these woofers just blows my mind!! Nothing even comes close in normal "audio" woofers. Be aware however to cross over to the mid around 250hz, these don't do mids well. But who cares in a 3-way? A Alpha 6A, or larger mid woofer would be ideal. Enjoy while these are still a still!! Who needs expensive audio woofers that kill all the detail anyway?Mojo

I replaced the dead speaker in my old practice bass amp with this speaker and was quite surprised how good it sounded and was surprised that it was better than the original in sound quality. gave new life to that old amp and saved me the cost of new amp. Yep, it sounds better and adds greater volume. Not a life changing event that some of the other reviews claim. Still, it is better to have upgraded from the original speaker. I have a 15" Eminence Legend that I'll drop into a cabinet tonight to see if it can add even more life to the SCXD (Super Champ XD). Glad to put aside the stock Fender speaker. It was weak with not much personality. I read alot about the Rajun'Cajun version but I like to be different so I went with the report of the Patriot's vintage american sound. My custom Tele (Fralin/Adder pickups) sounds fresh, loud and sweet through the clean channel. The modeling channel and effects have come alive with the swap. The overdriven effects are evil. A friend plays out with a Strat through a Blues Jr. and I have always enjoyed hearing that combo. The Copperhead/Superchamp brings out that quality sound.Anonymous

I decided to replace the co-axial speaker in an old enclosed keyboard cab and mate it to a Micro Terror for a portable jam rig. Reviews and pricing led me to the Legend 1058. After hitting the first chord, even before break-in, I knew I made the right choice! The tone is articulate and well defined. This speaker handles cleans as well as overdrive with single coils or humbuckers. After break-in it's sounds even better. This is my first experience with Emminence and would not hesitate considering them as replacements in my gig amps.Duff73

Works great in 4×10 Fender Deville Amp and I'm sure the speaker would also be good for Fender Super Reverb or Vibrolux Reverb. Lots of clean headroom and note clarity. This speaker does sound good when pushed into distortion but the clean tones is where it shines.Airtractorfan

I want to thank the previous reviewers for excellent data. This speaker has balanced the tonal output of my Vox ADVT 30 amp and made it reliable to do set ups on my guitars that still sound consistent when I plug in to my Line 6 AX212 performance rig. The overtones are so even it's a pleasure to listen close and makes the crunch very savory when you "dig in". The 75 watt capacity keeps the speaker accurate at higher volumes so the break up is not mush from the cone of the driver. The stock speaker was decent but thinner and more hifi sounding than the meatier sound of this model. Because it has an even top end you get more depth out of the mids and the detail is superb. Very versatile and makes for a very accurate pallette to dial in set ups. I would gig with this in a heartbeat.KD321

OK this is the deal with this speaker. It's part of an excellent line of 10 inch speakers made by Eminence. Each one is voiced differently. I do have most of them in one amp or another because I build small amps. Just SE 5-10 watt Champ type amps. I bought this speaker specifically for one amp I built, it's for slide guitar. This speaker did exactly what I expected. The highs were slightly attenuated which was what I wanted and the mids were thick and kind of barked at you, which was also what I wanted. For lack of a better description it's almost like a 12" speaker, similar to a more British sound (Celesetion)than American. The Brit sound is more of that midrange bark as opposed to the more American (Jensen)smooth highs and scooped mids. I'm guessing but usually you get that with a heavier paper material for the cone, hence the hemp cone's effect and the larger 1.75 inch voice coil. I guess Eminence was after the Tone Tubby sound, whether they achieved that or not, I don't know I never used a Tone Tubby. This will thicken up a bright midrange deficient amp and would probably work well in a multi mixed speaker cabinet maybe with a Red Fang. Like all speakers it has a voice, if not used in the right amp I can see people not appreciating the Lil' Buddy. It is what it is, it will add midrange and attenuate highs in whatever amp you put it in.Big Daddy - 24664

Overall an excellent product with tasteful packaging.(they even threw in a couple of picks!) Amazing what changing a speaker can to for an amp. Must try some of their other products. One never knows, I might find something I like even better. 3 cheers for Eminence guitar speakers!gowest

I bought two of these several weeks ago to replace the very old drivers in my SWR series II 2-10 cab. Perfect fit. They have an inner seal ring that seals the speaker cutout. I think these must be direct replacements. They look identical. But sound even better. To my ears there is a bit more low end, but the midrange clarity is still there, something I missed when I tried the BP 102 in the same cab. I also tried Faital Pro 10PR300, but not nearly enough low end. The CA-10's passed the test so I purchased 2 more for the other cab. I've been waiting a long time for these. I've used them in live gigs and I'm totally happy with them. Can't beat the price, either.Bassman62

Big fan of Eminence to begin with and these speakers did not disappoint. I have a Hartke 2×10 and bought an empty Hartke 2×10 cabinet. I wanted a more traditional tone to complement the aluminum speakers. I bought the CA10's simply because they seemed to match my desired specs. After purchase I read several posts on various sites that they are NOT recommended for sealed cabinets. Well, mine are sealed and I think they sound great. Not sure what they would sound like in a ported cab but I don't really care. Yes I would recommend these speakers.GEORGE

Installed on 5F2 cabinet. The circuit is 6V6 PP based on 6G3. This speaker does great job as expected. Sufficient power with warmth. Keeping richness of the sound, the clarity of chords is amazing. So, I ordered again for my another customer's amplifier. Excellent alnico speaker.Yasuhiro

I installed 4 of these in my Fender Hotrod Deville 410 and they really brought the amp to life The clarity and sparkle in the clean channel was like someone took a cover off the amp I know everyone has different taste in the sound but they work for me, I have always like Alnico speakers betterastroden

I installed this in a Fender Frontman 25 and it really brought my amp to life i cant believe what a difference it made crystal clear on the clean channel and the overdrive channel sounds like a finely tuned muscle car.tjh61170

I like the punchy lows, even mids and high's. I do not find this speaker muddy, I play a Gretsch 5422 hollow body and the lows stay together very nice. mids and highs will not part your hair.GUITAR 6

Sounds good for a clean channel pushed by an epiphone valve jr. 5 watt head. Beautiful overdrive tones but it can't handle heavy bass alone or heavy distortion. So plan on buying two of them. I play one with the valve jr and I can keep up with a line 6 lowdown 1×12 150 watt bass amp turned up to 1 o'clock. I plan to buy anothersunburst jackson

This is great for cabinets with four or more speakers. With 32 ohms wiring four in parallel bring it to a eight ohm load. Just do not use a keyboard dropped below rated feq. of about 57hz. This speakers can handle high spl's.Waldens Audio - 31934

Perfect replacement speaker for my classic 1975 Ampeg SVT 8×10 cabinet. Same size, same weight and better baffle than original (none) as it's front loaded. Works sweet for my wall of sound.MarkB

Sound: Sound I great, i use them i a 5 piece rock/cover band. They sound fantastic! Features: EV did a great job umproving these with a bigger amp. Been using them for nearly 6 months and we havent made them limit yet! Ease of Use: Super easy, basically plug and play. You can controll them with the EV app to. This would be great for a DJ or someone using these without a mixing board. Quality: These seem very reliable so far. Its EV so you know its quality. However, on one of the cabinet's I recieved, the LED light on the front of the speaker didn't work. Not a huge deal, but I sent it back and zZounds sent me a new on in just a couple days! Value: I think its a great value. Nice to know that my speakers won't clip or get to hot. I know $599 is a lot of money, but these are worth it, and with 12 months to pay its not that bad! Manufacturer Support: They were great. The LED on one of the cabs didnt work. They were more than happy to take care of it, but zZounds just replaced it for me. Almost hassle free! The Wow Factor: They look as great as they sound! Also, they are pretty light to! I can easily grab 2 at once and carry them into the club. Overall: I run sound for my rock cover band. I upgraded to these from the ZLX. I am so glad I did! If you are wondering if they are loud enough or if they are louder than the zlx, the answer is yes. However, not a ton louder. What is great though is that at high volumes the dont clip, like ever. I have been using these for almost 6 months now and I havent made them limit once, compared to my Zlx that limited every show a lot. The sound quality at high volume it great also, the highs are nice and crisp but it still has pretty good low end for a 12 inch speaker (I use a sub with mine). I honestly dont have any complaints about them right now. I think they are a high quality EV product and will last a long time.Erik

For the price, this speaker is a great choice. The DBR10 has very bright & clear mid range when using the FOH/main DSP setting. This setting also has has some low end boost. I would recommend using the DBR10 paired with a Yamaha sub bass for a complete full range system The speaker cab is plastic and not as robust as DXR range. However, this is not a deal breaker. In reality it is lightweight , looks tidy and a low cost cover will stop scratches. I bought 6 of the DBR10 to use for background music at weddings. They do the job and more . The high pass filters were great for this purpose as it reduces unwanted low rumble and they performed brilliantly for vocal mic when used for speaches / ceremony. Would I recommend ? Yes . DBR10 is perfect for people wanting quality clear sound but working within a budget .paul l.

I currently own a set of Mackie SRM 350 V3's, and I'm very happy with them. I'm a dj and I'm trying to downsize my system and make it more compact, but loud and not compromise the sound. So I've been using my Mackie's with my Yamaha DXS12 MKII sub, and it works great, but the spl's on the Mackie's we're insufficient for some of my larger venues. I decided to go with the DBR10's cause I've noticed the specs for the frequency response were close enough, but what caught my attention was the 129db max spl! So I bought a pair, great job on shipping time B&H, and once I hooked them up and began to crank them, I was blown away by the sound quality, but especially how loud and transparent they sounded! Very pristine and accurate sound like my RCF's, but not at RCF prices, lol! I've been djing 40 years and I've been thru many brands of speakers, these Yamaha DBR10's are now my favorite! Compact, loud, but very clear! They can be used without a sub for small venues and rock them! With my Yamaha sub, forget about it! They are a perfect match, and they all fit in my trunk! I highly recommend them!Javier

Overall: If you are looking to add volume and low end to your 10 inch combo or cabinet, look no further, this is it. The sound is pretty good for either clean or distorted sounds. It may not have the "magic" of some high end Celestions, but it sounds MUCH better than most stock speakers that come in mid to low priced amps and cabinets. In my opinion the best thing about this speaker is that this is the only speaker out there that makes a 10 inch combo sound like a 12 inch combo. (and it really does) I had put this speaker in a Laney Cub 10 and had it sitting on top of a 4X12 cabinet that I keep at my friend's practice space/ home studio. He walked in while I was playing and thought that I had it connected to the 4X12,.. no joke.Lawrence

This 10” speaker is what every speaker should sound like. Tight low end, mids are just right and the high end is smooth. Now I put this in a fender frontman 25R. Yes it’s solid state, but this speaker made it a great practice amp. I would use this at a small gig that’s how much I think this speaker made this amp beyond usable now. I brought this as I don't want want to lug my amp all over the place so I can leave the speaker at the rehearsal room and use my Boss multi effects unit. My fx unit plugs straight into the speaker or into the mixing desk and then the speaker is used a wedge. It's a really good sound and very light weight. The only feedback is that the packaging is not recyclable as there is a lot of polystyrene glued to cardboard. Alto need to get rid the the polystyrene!MATTHEW B.

Can’t fault these as an upgrade from my previous units. Sound quality has a very noticeable difference to cheaper made speakers around the same price. The 12s I had previously had no bass without rattling the plastic moulded units and the high frequencies were far too much. The Altos have a more Punchier bass, highs that don’t overpower the bass and mid otherwise your constantly battling the sound quality through earphones while mixing. All the people that come to the studio love these monitors. Used in conjunction with a active 12inch sub just makes it more enjoyable.Micky B.

Bought these for a second site as a church so budget was limited, smaller room catering to about 60-80 people. Sound quality has been great, really nice low noise floor which could have been a real problem if you're in a more intimate setting. Absolutey get what you pay for and, to be honest, would have liked to have a bit more to spend, but temper your expectations and you won't be dissapointed. Running these alongside a Behringer XENYX X1832USB and has been great. Portability wasn't a concern for us but if you're looking for something light these are ridiclously easy to carry!Phil L.

I don't play metal and I've noticed that the metal players have a completely different opinion about a lot of gear than I do, so take that for what it's worth. I don't hate metal but that is not the sound I'm going for I replaced the speaker in my Marshall DSL5 and while it was already a great sounding amp the creamback tightened up and rounded out the sound. It won't break up like the stock speaker so the lead channel doesn't sound as fizzy as with the stock speaker. I tend to mostly use the classic channel with pedals but have been enjoying the sound of the amp with the new speaker plugged straight in. The creamback replaced the ten30 that is a pretty common 10" speaker mid tier amps. A speaker upgrade is the most effective amp upgrade you can do yourself, with regards to expense and ease of installation, and I don't think you'd be unhappy with this speaker; not sure how metal players will feel.Bob

I bought these for less than two hundred bucks! Wow. They are great. We gig with them, and did a show. 3 singers in the group. They carried the sound perfectly. If you have a powered head or mixer, they will do you a great job!!redstar1951

Dropped this bad boy in my 1977 Peavey Backstage 30 and have started out playing clean and let me say the clean tone of this old amp has TONS OF GLASS AND SPARKLE. High Gain Is starting to sound Great tooAaron K.

I bought this monitor because of the specs and the layout of the back panel. It sounded great at low levels, but then I turned the Master volume to about "11:00" on the dial and the input volume to the halfway mark while playing an old Yamaha P-120 turned up less than halfway… There should have been no distortion whatsoever with such an application, and yet there it was, clipping, glitching, and distorting. I thought, "What will this thing sound like if I pumped Bass and or Drums with the Piano?"… That was when I put it back in the box, called MF, got a return label and sent it back. I am not sure if the one that I got was defective or if these powered monitors are just useless, gutless pieces of junk, but I have been a composer for over 40 years, and the old adage is true… "You get what you pay for" Stick with EV, JBL, QSC, Yamaha, and you can't go wrong.NoteJunkie

Purchased at a very decent price…..Very Solid Build…Very versatile with 3 possible inputs….We do professional sound for bands and we are always looking for a light-weight monitor for certain applications (e.g., Vocal or Keyboard or Horn/Sax Monitor). If the input signal is set correctly, there is plenty of good clear sound (and also decent bass from the solid wood cabinet). High Pass filter switch allows speaker to be pushed further when adding an external subwoofer….I did not have any distortion problems. We own plenty of QSC K10.2 and K8.2 but for the price point the Fender Fighter 10 can fill many less demanding audio requirements….It also has BLUETOOTH capability for quick music playback.Dennis the Menace

This Fender Fighter 10 is an excellent speaker. It has great sound and plenty of power. I am pleased with the purchase. However, the 1st one that I ordered was defective. It powered up, but only played for a few minutes before shutting itself off. Apparently it was overheating. I contacted Musician's Friend and they immediately replaced it. They made the replacement process real easy. The replacement speaker works as it should. It's an excellent speaker. Great sound and lots of power.Chadwellw

Built a new Tweed Cabinet for my Epiphone Valve Junior, and changed out the 8" to a 10" Celestion. Much more range, obviously, but a little less power as the 5 watt amp is pushing more coil. I would have gotten an Alnico 10 with lower wattage, but the prices on those are out of the park for me. With the new Celestion, however, the amp handles pedals much better. As the new speaker breaks in, this will only improve.Mark O Matic

Received my new speaker, first allowed it to get warm temperature wise. Shipping in North Dakota can get items a little cold. Then installed, and even before this speaker has had time to be properly broken in. It instantly brought a new life to a fairly new amp. A Peavey VYPYR VIP-1. The Peavey original speaker was just an eight inch speaker. I can only believe that as the new speaker is slowly broken in. The quality will continue to be rich, and a full range of tones. I even ran some bass notes thru it. There was a great improvement here too. The over all quality of a small home amp, has been greatly improved.rh_493

Very happy with this choice for my First DIY amp, which is currently a 5W FootNote plate, a pine bee box, 3-ply poplar shelving front. This speaker sounds a lot better than I expected for the price. Comparing with the PEAVY VYPRR VIP1 modeling amp next to it, (also parts express) the clean tone is amazing.. like – the other amp is abandoned until I need fuzz again. I was startled by how detailed, musical, and dynamic it sounded direct from the guitar. Next time I get a chance to build a higher power amp, I'll check out some other celestions. Maybe a blue someday…Jay
