I bought this because it was on sale at a great price. Was not expecting it to sound this good, esp after reading a review somewhere that said it was a really "dry-sounding" amp. I don't find that at all. Of all the amps I have owned — Aguilar Tone Hammer, Mark Bass Big Bang, Hartke 5500, Hartke TA600, Mark Bass Little Tube, and Fender Rumble — this one has to best tone to me. When the amp was backordered I almost canceled the order but am really glad I didn't. The only amp I have that sounds better is a Hartke LH1000, which is a Class A tube amp and very very heavy. The Acoustic is a fantastic amp! Great EQ possibilities, lots of tone-shaping options. The low end is much clearer than the Aguilar Tone Hammer, which tends to distort at low frequencies. More than anything, I just love the sound of this amp. Kind of odd that they are not more popularSuperman
I believe this amp is way above average with any style that you play . But as far as hard rock/metal ? Its got to be the best I've ever experienced ! I've been playing since the mid eighties but I bought this head for my son . I also bought two B410C Acoustic bass cabinets to go with the B600HD head . A perfect match ! Unbelievable hard rock tone and the overdrive is awesome ! I used to use effect processors for overdrive and compression . Not with this head! The compressor does a great job and I don't see having to use anything else other than flange or some kind of delay if he chooses. Its extremely loud and you can get those cool sounds as Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath and Scott Reeder from Kyuss . You can turn overdrive off and it has great clear bass tones also with a great eq . I wasn't sure what a Notch filter was , but it does make a noticeable difference that is adjustable . Again the overdrive is so good , you wouldn't ever think about using the Tech 21 Sansamp bass driver . Sounds so much better!! Another great and puzzling thing is the price . How can it be so good and so inexpensive? I think Acoustic's marketing program is dropping the ball . More people should know about this company! Why anyone would by Ampeg or Harke is beyond me !! Acoustic blows them away !!! only con is that its so light and powerful it vibrates off the cabinet . I've got to find a solution to that . This amp is stylish and well-made and has just enough volume for practice with a small uke group. At full volume and with the gain on half, it is equivalent to my Vox Pathfinder Bass (10W) on 4. The gain at 3/4 gives it more volume but the sound starts getting a bit bright and jangly for the passive pickup u-bass. I'm using with it. Might be ok for a bass guitar. I attached an old guitar strap to the screw-in side buttons which works really well for carrying it.danners17

I use a Korg Pandora Mini multi effects processing unit to achieve a large spectrum of sounds. That is another unit that I recommend guitar players to use to compliment the sound and functionality of this Pignose Hog 20 amplifier. The Hog handles pedals very well, as I also unit a Biyang Compressor Unit and an Electro Harmonix Linear Boost Unit (both seperately). I have not tried a Distortion or High Gain pedal unit to achieve METAL-esk sounds but I am very sure (almost to a certainty) that this amplifier can handle it. The Pignose Hog 20 is a RECHARGEABLE amplification unit that does what it is supposed to do; produces a clean sound. This sound is very clear and articulate. I will be yet another reviewer that mentions this amp's strong suit is it's CLEAN setting. The amplifier also has a TONE knob to adjust the brightness of the sound, as well as a SQUEAL knob to add an OVERDRIVE voice to the sound. This SQUEAL knob IS NOT a distortion knob. It is best used as a clean boost or to add a small amount of GRIT to the sound. If you are looking for a GAIN suited amplifier, this unit is NOT for you. If you are looking for an amplifier that inspires you to create and play than look no further. This amp is for you! This amplifier is 100% portable. Once the unit is fully charged one can easily take it to a park, garden, school, play ground, lake, beach, or ANY place that does not have an electrically input. Be warned; the juice on this unit only lasts for 8 hours so plan accordingly. The amplifier is very sturdy. Though it is small and compact, and can easily fit into the trunk of a car, it is somewhat heavy (weighing at about 15-20 pounds; maybe less). I can not attest to it's long term functionality for I have only owned it for a week. This amplifier is a STEAL! Its value and practical use far exceeds its cost. This product does exactly what I wanted it to. I have to play a wedding with my acoustic at an outdoor event this week where there is no electricity. With an acoustic guitar, you do have to watch where you place it because it will feedback if you're not positioned correctly, but that's no problem because I'm outside. The squeal knob is pretty much worthless to me, but maybe it's better with a solid body electric. I purchased a battery operated ZOOM MS-50G pedal, just to add some eq, compression, chorus, delay and reverb to the Pignose and I couldn't be happier with the results — especially when you consider that this is a battery operated amp.inthesticks53
Don't think this amps 20 watts will be loud. My Jca22h 20w will bury this amp on less than 1. Most 15w and some 10w amps will out do the pig by a long shot[even a 5 watt tube amp] The pig does'nt have a lot of clean headroom either but it's enough for what it's for. It has a decent crunch and distorts easily with humbuckers at higher volume. I don't personally care for the "squeal" knob.Too much "odd" harmonics. What its good for is that it's rechargeable, super portable, and the charge lasts a good bit with the dual beefy battery packs in the back. You can take this anywhere and play. No electric….no problem. And that's a good thing. The best feature is the built in battery packs that can be recharged. Lasts quite a while on a charge too. Well built. Feels and looks solid. You can buy a Fender champion 600 tube amp for the same money or a Fender frontman 25 for less but they're either much larger and you have to have juice to run them. I bought this little amp after reading the previous customer reviews so I decided to take a chance on it. I must admit that I am quite pleased with the amp. Great tone and balance and it will provide ample sound and clarity for a practice amp. Perfect for an apartment or a person to use in a smaller space. It was well worth the price.
Ordered this along with a 5 string gib bass. The items were supposedly shipped at the same time, but I received the bass guitar 8/10 with no clear tracking on where the bass amp is or when it will come in. If I would have known it wasn't going to come in at the same time I would've bought an amp from somewhere else. The guitar is amazing for the price even the though the packaging was beat up and ripped with tape all over like it had been a return. Very skeptic about this and I've sent an email which I haven't received a response.
UPDATE. I received a message from Glarry stating that the Amp shipped separately from the Bass I ordered, and with a different carrier service then the one who brought the Bass Guitar. I give a 4 out of 5 stars, it creates a great sound for being a 20w Amp, it's compact and light. The only thing that I don't like is the fact that the volume nob is vary sensitive. Other than that, it's great.

I picked this up for my son so he could practice around the house. Killer stocking stuffer! When the son is away the dad will now play. Took a chance on this and purchased it without every playing it. Watched video reviews on it and gave it a shot. Yes, I know that it's small in size, smaller than a kids lunchbox but I hoped it'd produce quality sound and what I got was muddy sounds at increased volumes. What a fantastic amplifier this is. Worth every penny. The High and Low power settings both give different sounds and are equally usable. For more gain I use a Korg Nu:Tekt Over Drive pedal, they go very well together. I use beyerdynamic DT770 Pro headphones with the cab sim output every day! Have not stopped playing this amp since it arrived and I would say to anyone looking for an amplifier like this that if they are in a position to do so, then buy it without hesitation. My Shergold guitar and my Gordon Smith guitar go so well with this amp- both guitars have Humbucker pick ups and definitely give me the kind of tone that I have been looking for since I first heard JoyDivision more than 40 years ago. The amp works well with my Gibson ES330 guitar too which has P90 pick ups and is sort of an upmarket Casino. If anyone knows the sounds of Bernard Sumner with both the Shergold Masquerader and the ES330 then this amp sounds a lot like his setup without the punishing volume of his Vox. I have also been able to get the Neil Young Cortez the Killer tone pretty convincingly too. No regret at all in buying this amplifier and if it breaks would buy another without hesitation. I ordered a positive grid 600W head it arrived defective and I returned it the next day I then ordered and paid for a second one because I didn't want to miss out on the deal. Well today I called them because the second head was not being shipped and I was told that I would not be getting the second amp because they were out. They are refunding all my money that's not the problem the problem is I was told they had another to sell me which I was find with even though they should have set one aside because they knew the first one was being shipped back. I was not even offered a deal a a rack one which they have in stock I think I should have been offered a deal on one of the other positive grid. I guess I won't be coming back terrible customer service.carl2-82833
This amp is incredible. Having pretty much any sound at my fingertips, in a unit which can go from whisper quiet (but still great sounding) to stage volume is awesome. The knobs/switches etc all feel like very high quality, and the added software licence is a nice bonus. It may seem pricey, but it is way, way cheaper than buying all those classic amps, and the sounds are indistinguishable. Can't recommend highly enough.malediction99
I was very excited to get the Bias head after many reviews online. To my disappointment, it seems that this amounts to a midi controller for the Bias Amp software and pretty much nothing else. Unfortunately, I was not able to get any kind of usable tone out of this (possibly due to my own lack of understanding or maybe it needs to be run out of a cab) but, the thing that made me give it a two star rating is that I found out the Bias FX software cannot also be used with this head. There is so much more that could have been done with this thing. I am very disappointed with the execution of this product and had hoped for something more than the bare minimum amount of functionality.NICK
