So it's not a terrible pedal, but it's not great for anything more than practice. Solid construction of chassis. The octave up feature is a faint signal modification and is basically non-existent once you engage the fuzz. The tone knob sounds best turned down to almost off, it has too much high frequency. The fuzz knob functions normally unless played on bass where increased fuzz sucks away your low end fast. It is important to note that this pedal does not add a DB level gain and flattens your signal.joeytwogeez

Received this pedal the day following my order. Great service. Wanted a Fenderish sound to practise after selling my Laney tube amp to a blues harp player, without all the bells and whistles of a multi effects processor . This pedal really works for me. I use it with a stereo amp and analogue chorus pedal. Knobs are quite sensitive but I can get clean through to distortion. Also works well as overdrive into clean amp. If you want to get the amp sounds without the weight and cost this can do it. After getting a Yamaha THR I have become a fan of using stereo monitors rather than combos/cabinets for practising.Hobbyist
Having never been a huge user of pedals, I was somewhat surprised when I listened to the demo's of this little marvel. The demo's were done very simply, with just a little reverb added on some. I promptly placed an order, and the pedal arrived very quickly in the mail, as per usual from this company, Artist Guitars. Using several different, but very basic amps for the test, I was blown away by the range of tones available, and a simple push on the foot switch left no doubt that this pedal is a game changer. It really shows it's potential when using through an interface into a DAW. This area has long been lacking when using electric guitars to record via a computer. Now, no need to use a ''noisy'' guitar amp to get ''that tone'', it is all in this little, very well constructed pedal. You would think for the price it would be a lightly constructed case, but no, all cast metal, and a good foot switch. Well done Joyo, you have a winner here, and at a bargain price. There are other amp sim units out there, but if menus and buttons and digital sound don't excite you, for the price of a decent meal, this unit is sure to do it.Geoff
I bought this pedal a couple of years ago wanting to see if I could fully make the move to DI at gigs, and not have to mess around with amps. I toyed around with it briefly, thought it didn't sound that great, and never used it again, just chucking it in my gig bag to use as a backup if I ever had to. Recently I've pulled it out again and spent some time really dialing it in, and wow, it really is great. I'd say it can get about 90% of a Deluxe Reverb tone. The main difference is that it's a little more compressed than the real deal, and doesn't sound quite as natural when moving from soft playing to hard playing (which is what makes a tube amp sound so good). I think the reason it works well for me is because I'm running humbuckers into it which are already quite compressed. I suspect running single coils might not yield as good results. For a good DR sound try level 4 oclock, voice 9 oclock, drive 9 oclock (or to taste), bass and treble about 3 oclock, mids about 10 oclock, with the PA EQ flat – YMMV depending on your PA speakers. The trick for high gain sounds on top of this is to use a distortion pedal (before the Joyo) which has its own 3 band EQ. Have a play around with it and push the EQ to its extreme. The Joyo will compress the signal going into it, so you might have to push the level on your distortion pedal significantly to get much of a volume boost when you kick it on. I spent 30 minutes or so finding a setup that worked for me and I am extremely happy with it, I'm now considering just going DI full time with this in live situations.Matt M

Reviews:
First off, it's clear the earlier reviewer is doubling up on the his preamps by running this into the front end of his tube amp. This almost always results in shrillness, because of the duplication of the preamp phase. The fact that this (and similar Joyo pedals) has a preamp built in is not spelled out in the marketing of these pedals, but it makes a huge difference in how it should be used. Use this (or any similar Joyo "sound series" or Tech 21 character pedal) as your only preamp and bypass the preamp on your amp by going to the "effects return". With that said, this pedal sounds great. It does what it claims (Vox tone) and gives you plenty of control over the amount of gain and tone eq. The built-in cabinet simulator is sorta weak. It's good enough for clean tones, but it doesn't quite remove the upper-midrange fizz and harshness that you always get with high-gain tones going direct. If you plan to use this for direct recording, add some IR's to in in your VST plugins on the track. If you're planing to use it to go direct-to-board in a live setting, I'd recommend an additional cab simulator. I personally use the Donner DI for this. It finishes the job that the pedals built-in cab sim isn't quite pulling off. But otherwise, if you're using it as a preamp into apower amp and cabs, it sounds great.swmorgan515
So far this is my favorite pedal…I was initially skeptical as I had purchased a JOYO product in the past and recall that I was unimpressed. I am still marginally dissatisfied with the "quality" of these budget pedals. But HEY…! it is just that, a budget product yet given what this thing does, it really does not matter. It sounds fantastic. In fact, if it does not last for more than a couple of years and ultimately craters (which I seriously doubt) I'll just buy another one or two… perhaps I ought to stock up now as I suspect these may become legendary and ahem… pricey.fo_538729
This AC Tone Amp Simulator does everything it's advertised to do. I am a solo guitar/vocalist with self-played and recorded backing tracks and on my larger gigs I take my Vox AC15, miccing it through my PA for a bit of extra presence. On my smaller gigs I have found that the AC Tone directly through the PA gives me the Vox sound I love – with saturation that would have me believe I am playing through the AC15. Very pleased with this pedal and very pleased with the service I have received from Artist Guitars.Trevor Judge

Reviews:
Being a preamp and an "amp simulator", it is a great solution to having a cost-effective and high quality sounding base-tone for your electric setup. Keep in mind I am only talking about using it on clean setting, I do not use it on high gain distortion. I can plug in the British Sound direct to front-of-house into a d.i. box or straight into a guitar amp, preferably into a preamp in/return input, but plugging into a regular input is fine. You will get a beautiful, tube-like clean tone- consistent and reliable and super easy to use. And it works great on bass, too. Seriously, a pedal this good for under $40.00, it makes my cheap electric guitar sound much better than it would sound without the British Sound, especially having the ability to adjust the pedal's 3 band EQ and it's Voice knob. And seriously don't worry about the British Sound being a clone of a much more expensive pedal. The Joyo British Sound will justify itself the moment you plug it in and find your ideal tone!benjve-24
If you like rock and or metal this pedal is perfect. The clean sound is shiny and glassy with lots of tight low end and singing mids and highs. Then crank the drive and your in rock town. ACDC sounds are easy to get and so are more grittier metal sounds. Perfect for recording (as are the American and California pedals I own also). And goes great into a loud stereo of a PA system. beats lugging an amp around too. It takes to other pedals really well. Gain and wah pedals before it in the chain, and chorus after it works awesome! I do kinda wish it wasn't pink.. but it goes well next to a purple and blue pedal I own, and least it is obvious what it is if you have 12 other pedals like me.Ross
I am relly impressed with this pedal. It gives you a real bluesy feel through to hard edged distortion. It is sturdy, and so easy to use. I wish they were available or maybe I had found them sooner. 5 stars for the pedal and Artist Guitars. Unbelievable prompt service. Thank you.Robert

I first bought the JOYO American sound pedal and was pleasantly surprised at the build quality and sound quality. I figured would take a chance on the Ultimate Drive as I was looking for a Klon clone that would not break the bank. One of the cheapest I could find was Electro Harmonix Soul Food and it was still 3 times what they were charging for the Ultimate Drive. This is a well built pedal. Would take a tank to break it. The overdrive is very good. Big and fat with lots of control over every aspect of the tone. I read a review once that said only a guitar player would pay $2000 for 7 dollars worth of parts and I believe that to be true. So far I am sold on JOYO.kcole8
This is one versatile pedal. Why do I make this claim? Firstly, with the gain control at minimum you get a nice, slightly fatter clean boost. By the time you turn it to the 9 o'clock position smooth grit shows up. Between 9 and 11 or 12 o'clock is where most of the OD tones reside. I rarely go very far past high noon because my tone tastes tend to gravitate to overdrive sounds. Past 12 o'clock is distorto-world. I'm talking square waves here. This review was done with a Strat loaded with Texas Specials at around 6.5 K ohms. So humbuckers will push even further into distortion. Touch sensitivity is present throughout the first half of the gain control's travel. This unit also cleans up nicely by rolling the guitar's volume back. The circuit board is sturdy enough with through hole construction. This pedal would be easy to mod but I can't see why anyone would want to do that. I did try this thing out at 18 volts but didn't hear an appreciable difference. Bottom line: if you are looking for a box that will clean boost, OD and distort then buy this pedal. I don't care if you can afford the latest boutique gizmo out there. This OD stands on it's own. And it's NOT just another TS clone.rlhheadrricha
This pedal was suggested to me by an EquipBoard article as a great overdrive pedal for the budget. Not so sure how it compares in terms of sound to the OCD Fulltone it supposedly copies (according to article), but it looks and feels great. I had only one tiny problem with the design of enclosure – the 9V battery compartment isn't isolated from the PCB, thus the paint from the battery gets scratched off every time you remove it – and at first I had problems removing the battery. Other than that – the white knobs on the black and red enclosure look nice and the switch and in/out jacks look way better than your every day standard stuff you can buy at the electronics parts store – so that's a nice touch. I like this pedal a lot and at the moment can't think of a reason to get anything else for my overdrive needs.rumblerredeemer

Reviews:
Among the best pedals I have used. Incredibly flexible, if you have the time to play with it, any sound may probably be reproduced. Even the simple presets as suggested in several places are good enough and probably more than one needs. The controls interplay and therefore small differences may be produced with different setups. I love it. This is the 2nd time I buy one, I was stupid enough to sell the 1st one. Its the safe pedal to keep in the gig bag to make sure you have a good starting point at any gig situation, with unknoun amplifiction. If it had a Reverb and a Delay, even basic ones, it would be the perfect multieffect (for me at least)microvios
This is a good little pedal and built like a tank. You could probably throw this off a roof and it would survive. Within the parameters of the pedal and what is was designed for, the variations of sounds available are almost infinite, and if I had more patience I'm sure I could take this pedal to the absolute limit of sound that American amps can produce. Great little pedal and well worth having.traffic-cone
Clone of Sansamp Tech 21 and what an excellent product. I have 2 Joyo models and they each have a different character. Both really satisfying in the pursuit of audio excellence. I run live into a Mackie 1202 VLZ USA mixer. With delay, reverb, tremolo, phaser, flanger and light compression at lower volumes all these (mainly Joyo) pedals REALLY WORK. It's 'my amp' like it used to be when I had my Fender Deluxe Reverb 40w valve or my Mesa Boogie 1 x12". Without the Joyo AC (VOX) & the Joyo American I would be lost. Mike S. Melb. Aust.mikey1au

Very effective overdrive/distortion pedal. It seems to be able to stand between a smooth overdrive & a snarly distortion that very few pedals can manage – they are usually one or the other. Solid construction of the case, looks like it will last a while. Silly graphics but the sound is there – plenty of variation when the guitar's cotrols are used in conjunction with the pedal's controls. Great low price for what you get. *Gerry, Wollongong*Gerard
Hi I have already done a review of this pedal which I found to be a remarkable pedal. Yesterday I put the Joyo British pedal then the ultimate drive and into my Blackstar HT-5R tube combo guitar amp and what a sound from strong sparkling lows through to British Plexi (aka Angus Young) tones. I was totally blown away by the sounds I can get out of these two pedals both brought from Artist Guitars of course. Don't think that just because this gear is cheap it is cheap in quality, I find the quality to be up there with pedals that are 6-8 times the price of one Joyo pedal. Grab one of these now whilst you can. Great service too. Thanks Mick HMichael
I’m very happy with this pedal. A quality build, what I really like about this pedal is when you increase the gain it doesn’t change the level volume much and it’s very easy to control with your guitar volume. It makes everything sound better and I leave it on all the time. Just increasing the gain if I want it dirtier. I always have the tone set about 1 or 2 o’clock. It can get a bit muddy before 12 o’clock. Everything works fine and I’ll never need any more overdrive or distortion pedals.. and yes I’ve had quite a few very expensive ones over the years.

Reviews:
This is a clone of the Tech21 California pedal, but it is way more scooped and tight than the original. In reviewing, I found that Joyo got the value of one of the capacitors in the speaker sim wrong. I changed mine & then it sounded much closer to the original. It's usable in stock form, but is extremely tight. The mod simply adds a lot more upper mids. If you want a very tight scooped agressive sound, this will nail it. It sounds like a heavily processed Mesa Dual Rec. It's such a deal that I've bought a few & modified them for friends to use as a backup high-gain rig. Personally, I much prefer to use the Joyo American with a more dynamic pedal like a MI Audio Tube Zone in front as a high-gain "rig in a box".hephaestus-1
When I bought the Joyo California amp simulator pedal, I was sceptical yet curious as I had never used anything from Joyo before. It all boils down to what it is you're going for, but if you're wanting ultra high gain trebly distortion sounds you hear on a lot of modern rock and metal albums, think of the California as a guitar amp which would then require a seperate distortion pedal to achieve this. Some may find the low-end on this pedal to a bit muddy. If you like pedals like The Big Muff, you might find the bass controls to be up your alley. However, I find the sound is more controlled when the bass is pulled back to 9-10 o'clock. All in all, where the California Mesa simulator shines on its own is that crunchy half-gain sound which gets fuller and more refined as you layer your guitar parts in a recording scenario. This makes for a great tool for direct injection in the studio if you like to simply collect pedals and fx for the sake of having a particular sound when needed. In my opinion, the half gain setting is the true "sweet spot" of this particular pedal. To me, when used properly, this pedal has a rock sound reminicent to a lot of Foo Fighters records. I look forward to collecting more from the Joyo range.Michael

13. Joyo Jf-11 6 Band Eq Guitar Pedal, White
Product Details:
Eq pedals are a really underappreciated way to shape your guitar signal. highs can be boosted for more articulation in overdrive. mids frequencies can be boosted to stand out in the mix. lows can be cut to make things less muddy. it's really endless the amount of tone shaping that can be done, as eqing effects all the other added effects in a chain. the joyo 6 band eq pedal provides a range of 18db to help you find your favorite tone.

Having bought Joyo pedals from AG previously, I didn't have too much hesitation about giving this unit a try. Let's start with the basics ….. To my eye, it's pretty much a Chinese-made copy of the Dunlop/MXR-6 — same layout, same specs e.g. +/- 18db range, same frequency ranges etc., although this Joyo has True Bypass, whereas I don't believe the MXR-6 does, so that's a small plus for the "copy"! The metal casing is built like a tank, so you're not going to break that — perhaps the only vulnerability is in the sliders themselves, so best not to stand on top of the thing! 🙂 As with most pedals, power is via a 9-volt battery (supplied) or transformer (not supplied), and the tops of the sliders have a nice red glow to show you their position on a darkened stage. The "manual" supplied is just one tiny A5 page, with one side in Chinese, and the other pretty much useless in terms of instructions — doesn't really matter, because an EQ is something you're just going to play with until you get the sound you want from your instrument. Talking of sound, how does it work? Well, surprisingly well. I've used it with both my Ovation 1178LX guitar, and my Fender Mandostrat mandolin, through a Mesa Boogie 5.25 amp, and have been pleased with the range of the settings. Each frequency slider can make a noticeable difference, so I doubt you'll have much trouble EQ'ing your particular instrument. Although I'll use the JF11 primarily to enhance my rhythm sound on both instruments, I guess another use would be to set it up specifically for a lead break, and then engage the new settings when it's your turn in the spotlight! (I emphasise that I've used it only with clean sounds — haven't tried distortion etc.) The box appears to be fairly noiseless — whether engaged or not — so there's no adverse impact on sound that I can detect. Overall, this is an effective addition to my small pedal line-up and, at less than half the price of an MXR-6, I can't see why I'd need to spend more. In short, another good-value AG product.Alan
I purchased this pedal with the idea to use it as a boost for solos and for fine tuning my tone. When the pedal first arrived it has been damaged in transit but I rang Artist Guitars and they immediately sent me a return label and within a week I had a replacement one that worked perfectly. This pedal exceeds all my expectations and fits perfectly to what I bought it for. Whether you're fine tuning your sound or using it as a boost occasionally as I do it is perfect. I highly recommend this pedal.Graham
Excellent product, it gives me exactly the sound I was hearing in my head and longing to come out of my amp. I have an older setup, my guitar is an ESP LTD H-51 and my amp is a roughly 1960’s maton EP V202. I love the sound it makes when cranked and the valves crunch and are overdriven but it is too loud for when I play live (I’m in a church band with a very mixed congregation) so I wanted a pedal that helped get that driven sound but quieter volume for the oldies. I tried a blues overdrive and a tube screamer but didn’t find what I wanted. The JF11 lets me increase the low end without distorting the higher frequencies and hits the mark perfectly!! The only VERY TINY negative I found is that the 9V input socket sits too deep into the housing and my multi lead has only 1 plug in it that will fit in the hold. As I said tiny issue that was resolved with finding the right plug Very happy customerMatt

This thing delivered a lot more than I expected. The switch is a little noisy, but not so much that it will be heard at stage volumes with full band. I've owned several phase pedals over the last 30 plus years. This one is in the top 3 easy, but by far the best quality for price.gonearyeagain
16. Joyo Jf-03 Crunch Distortion Pedal
Product Details:
The crunch distortion features true bypass wiring & quality components. truly it is a tone monster/arena rock pedal. designed to replicate the sound of a marshall cranked way up, the pedal delivers in spades. with plenty of gain and volume on tap as well as being massively touch responsive this pedal truly is a hidden secret within the joyo ranks. never judge a pedal by its cover. lower gain settings produce some brilliant acdc style tones, mid gain settings and you’re in guns n’ roses territory and maxing the gain knob you’re happily hitting classic ozzy osbourne, iron maiden and metallica levels of gain.

The first Joyo pedal I bought was the California mesa amp simulator at the beginning of this year (check out my review on this website). Since then, I've collected more from this brand and have incorporated Joyo pedals heavily into my studio work. The Crunch Distortion pedal is a great edition to place in front of the Joyo amp simulators for when the gain on the amp simulator is set to either low or half gain. Because the Joyo range of amp simulators don't always have really high gain (it depends on the specific amp sound being emulated obviously), I find its best to focus on getting a good "clean-ish" amp sound, and then let the Crunch distortion do all the "dirty work". In many respects, it's very similar to the Boss DS-1 in terms of operation. However, I find that the Crunch Distortion pedal has a much crisper high gain setting which surpasses the DS-1. With this pedal, you won't be tempted to take out much of the midrange because the mids on this are really well-rounded and controlled. If you're into bands like Helmet (particularly their album "Aftertaste") and are looking to achieve a similar distorted guitar sound, then Joyo's Crunch Distortion pedal will put you on the right track.Michael
Pedal sounds great and is well built. Definitely great value for the priceTim

Product Details:
Joyo jf 34 us dream distortion pedal for guitar the joyo jf 34 us dream is a high gain distortion pedal in the same vein as the well known riot distortion and overdrive pedal. perfect for obtaining that real usa, californian and la type of rock sound used by many of the hair metal guitar bands from the 80 s and 90 s. big, wide and loud sound that can be used for solo s or rhythm guitar parts. volume, tone and distortion control the jf 34 has three controls that can be configured to go from high gain, to an immensely high gain sound without losing control of the tone. using the distortion pedal to control the amount of distortion, and the tone knob to produce the slightly higher or lower mid frequency is the best way to orchestrate the desired sound. by turning both the distortion and the tone all the way to the right the pedal is set for some serious solo action, whilst backing both these controls off will facilitate a stomping rhythm tone rivaling anything from the usa. the volume control is used to adjust output volume once the desired sound is achieved. true bypass switching the jf 34 has true bypass switching that eliminates any signal interference when switching the pedal on or off. the us dream can be used with an ac adapter (optional) or 9v battery. features velvet pink with black knobs silver true bypass switch volume, tone and distortion control 1 4 jack input and outputs aluminum alloy casing with stoving varnish finish specifications input impedance 1m output impedance 1k running current 10ma power 9v dc adapter or 9v battery weight 200g dimensions 118mm (l) x 64mm (w) x 50mm inc switch (h) note power supply not included. please use the 9v power adapter whose polarity is negative center otherwise, the product may not work properly.

This looked ideal at first glance, mistake!I have many JOYO products and not one single bad one until this arrived.Very fiddly to mount and turn on and off,and if your strings are more than 1 cent out,it won't register.Leaving the player to get it pretty much perfect before using the tuner to confirm! It's a shame as it can be mounted pretty much out of sight of your audience but sadly,as a tuner? it's a turkey.wasmcjo.ul98cbual

Product Details:
Joyo jf-10 dynamic compresso surprising hi fidelity at modest cost. this low noise floor compressor provides clean, natural sustain that sounds very nice with minimum imposition of its own tone upon your guitar's original signal. it has a full metal case, and is gig worthy. not as pronounced sounding as some compressors. therefore more subtle and not squashed too much. sweetly sustained rounder sound adds presence to playing, from chords to leads. i ve tried many of the best compressors at far higher prices, and find this one perfectly pleasing for pristine recording. plus, i dig the scorpion graphic on the garish green metal box!

Having read rave reviews I purchased a Joyo JF10 for use with my fiddle. Together with a echo FX through a TC-Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT Voice Tone GXT Live Vocal/Guitar Multi-Effects foot pedal it produces an incredibly full, warm sound. I've been playing Irish, R&B, bluegrass fiddle for around 40 years and this is the best ever sound. The pedal is easy to set-up and simple to dial up best setting to suit. As always, prompt delivery to Newcastle from Artist Guitars.Martin
This is a very sweet pedal. The amount of compression it adds is just right to add a sweet sustain which is what I was looking for. Very easy to use and the controls respond as you hope they would. I'm really impressed with the tone and sustain it has added to my guitar rig. Some compressor pedals add a lot of noise and the Attack function can be hard to control but this Joyo works beautifully. Very happy. Thank you Joyo and thank you Artist guitars.
Very good for boosting a distortion. Also sounds pretty sexy on its own. I use it more as a clean boost and to boost my distortion pedal. This really enhances the sound of your guitar more than providing its own sound, so I wouldn't recommend it to those using a practice guitar. Very nice clean boost with single coil pickups. I'm not a huge fan of how it sounds paired with humbuckers (when used on its own). Seller is good. Pedal arrived on time and in perfect working condition.nichilto_0
