Reviews:
I had been hesitant to buy this product, but the most recent sale swayed me. Now keep in mind that this style subwoofer will not outperform a similar sized sub with a corresponding box. However, for those with limited space (two seater convertibles such as my Toyota MR2 Spyder), it fills that low-end void that the two 6.5 speakers and two 1 tweeters lacked. The JBL BassPro SL2 gives full and robust bass without overpowering the mid and high frequencies.Eric
This JBL subwoofer is very well built with plenty of adjustments. Keep in mind that it may not fit under your seat and it really will not replace a dedicated subwoofer box with a high powered amp. I needed to still have a usable trunk in my Mustang GT convertible and the solution was to create a small port to have some of the woofer inside the boot area. I don;t need a big booming bass box, just some bottom end to fill in on some songs and send some waves to be felt in my seat. This also allowed the installer to adjust cutoffs for the interior JBL speakers because some songs were really pushing those speakers too hard with distortion. Now the Sony/JBL system plays much louder and distortion free with the top down and I can hear more bass details on many songs. RCA inputs and very adjustable . Get a qulaity amp install kit because the power is going to the battery and you don't want hum, noise or issues .Sparky
After running my power wire, ground wire, and remote wire, this subwoofer did not turn on. The led power indicator flickered a couple times, but that’s it. I realize a bad unit can happen occasionally. JBL has authorized a replacement and I’m waiting for my warranty replacement. I’m looking forward to hearing what this sub can do…after I receive a working unit. I appreciate JBL honoring their warrantee, although I’m waiting on the replacement.ScoopedMids

I have two pair of Allison IV's that needed woofers, since Allison has been out of business for some time, replacements are not easy to come by. These matched the OEM woofers pretty well, in size and performance. Rubber surrounds instead of treated cloth o the OEM's, but sonic-ally they seem to be a very good match. Heavy magnets, seem to be very well made (in China). Four stars instead of five because the binding posts don't accept the speaker push clips (they do banana plugs), I needed to remove those and use bare wire. Would have been nice to have posts for those as well.Mike
Bought two of these two replace some old foam-rotten Realistic woofers my dad had used when he installed them. First I bought one that was brand new and one was refurbished. The refurbished one was bunk and made some internal rattling at high amplitudes. They refunded it and i replaced it with a new one and now it sounds great. Can't fault the speaker because it was damaged. I can only fault PE for not testing it, but they refunded me quickly. These speakers can take a ton of power, 4/5
I was looking to replace a blown woofer from a JBL set of bookshelf speakers. The look almost matched perfectly and installed into the existing screw holes of the cabinet. The sound of the speaker was good, but did not completely match the other speaker. This woofer takes much more power, but it it a little less efficient than the factory JBL. Overall, I am happy with the purchase and would do it again. I would recommend replacing both woofers so they would match better sound wise.LYLE

I purchased this speaker to replace the blown subwoofer speaker in my 05 Jeep's center console. Other speakers were too big and would have needed major modifications to fit. The only needed minor trimming to fit, and after installation the sound is great. The radio puts out 80 watts per channel, and the small amp in the console work great together.2013papa1951
Saw the low price, and thought I would add a little bass to my setup. Did not expect much. When I received the speakers, I hooked them up to a stereo on my bench with a Kicker 125.2 amp, and was very disappointed – at first. They LOOKED like they were pumping out sound, moving in and out hard, but were almost quiet. Not much sound. Then I read that these must be enclosed to work, so I took an hour and built one out of 3/4" plywood, with a 1.25" piped port that was 16" long, to delay the sound from the box. The difference was unbelievable!!! Like one of the earlier reviews says, if you aren't careful, you will literally shake your rear view mirror off! I have two now, one connected to the Kicker DX125.2 amp in my boat, and a Pyle PLAM1000 amp in my truck. It's about a draw – they both sound great! Clean, solid, boomy bass. I might even give the nod to the little Kicker amp, but it might be the Sony head unit with a dedicated subW outlet that makes the difference. With the gain and the bass boost controls set just under mid-way, this setup is amazing. I turn down the subW control when my wife is in the car, as she can't take much bass. But when she's gone, I crank it up. Makes everything sound good at all volumes! I especially like how it sounds when the music is down low, but you can still hear the mids and lows. Anyway, that's my review. I think I'm going to buy another pair, just to have extras. THANKS PYLE!!!THill
Well there not bad at all for the price but they do have there limits. I noticed after owning this product for about a year, one of the speakers started sounding like it was somewhat blown when the bass was heavy. I have replaced them with some Sony speakers I had. The speakers were about 20 years old and we're disintegrating. I did have to sand out the whole slightly bigger as they seem to be like 6.6 in or maybe even 6.7, actually sold the bookshelf speakers about a year ago for 80 bucks. Speaker cases themselves came out of the garbage so I actually made some profit on it haha. They did sound awesome when I used them, better than I expected for cheap speakers. But I had them wired to run at 2 ohms which Most house stereos don't like so much. So I ended up buying two 8-in 300 watt single coil legacies which sound awesome for cheap speakers also. Replace them with some old realistic speakers I had from 1975. Wouldn't say they actually handle 600 watts, as my 125 watt Yamaha stereo was thumping and flexing them quite well. I wouldn't try pushing more than 2 or 300 watts through them. The bass itself seem to be rather responsive even the low bass. I don't know if I would want to call them subwoofers though. Probably better off replacing most woofers like I had.. bookshelf speakers or something.BigThirst

using greenbacks for years I wanted a somewhat similar speaker for a small DIY 1/2 watt transistor, ruby amp.. and the price was very ok here. still waiting for a 5F1 pine champ cab to arrive for it.
Used to replace the OEM speaker in my Blackstar HT1, and as many have claimed, does provide a much better bottom end — deep, tight, focused. Excellent highs — one of the "small speaker" spikiness. My only quibble is that in my application, there is a drop-off in the mids, creating an odd high/low over-emphasis. I can dial it in by adjusting my amp, but out of the box it was tight in the mids. Bigger magnet than the OEM unit; construction standard seems very high, to the extent you can "see" it. At the Parts Express price (not list) it's an almost unbeiievable value.
I put this in an old Vox VT15 Pawn shop find. It worked well for a few years but it konked out, and I didn't want to spend a ton on a little practice amp. This little speaker did the trick. I really think I'm getting better tones out of this speaker than the speaker that it came with. I only replaced the speaker a little over a month ago, but so far, I feel like I gave my amp an upgrade. I did not expect that.DeadWeasel

I bought a Bugera V 5 5 watt tube amp. From most everything I read on the Internet the original speaker just sounded "too dark" And looking around for any 8 inch speaker with 4 ohms was not too easy. Not too many choices to choose from. The Jensen MOD 20 was available (locally) and the price was real good.I bought the MOD 8-20 for a replacement, I made a GOOD CHOICE it seems to be louder and brighter than the Bugera speaker. Before I had to run my tone knob maxed out on 10…still was too muddy. But the Jensen I can run my tone knob at 4 or 5 if I wanted to. How awesome is that . I replaced both tubes in the amp and did not really notice a difference , but now the speaker…that was different. Thank you Jensen for making such a good speaker replacement.Electric John
Fender Mustang I Speaker Upgrade: The little Fender Mustang I is a great little amp for practice and low volume rehearsals, however, the stock speaker cuts nearly an octave off your lows and highs are tinny, and mids are farty. Again, great little amp for what it is and how low-cost it is. By swapping the stock speaker for the Mod 8-20 it is not only affordable, easy to do, it makes a BIG difference in overall tone and note articulation. I only use this little amp for practice and low volume rehearsals and have been using it for close to 5 years specifically for that purpose and did not want to spend half or more of what the amp costs or is worth. When I first purchased the amp it was obvious the stock speaker was the weak link. The Mod 8-20 will make you happy, or should I say happier. Great little speaker at a great price. Note: make sure that when you do the swap that you connect the RED speaker wire to the PLUS connector and BLACK speaker wire to the MINUS connector tabs on the Mod 8-20 (they are marked on the Mod 8-20). You will also need to ground the Mod 8-20 by snipping the ground wired soldered to the stock speaker and attaching it to the Mod 8-20's metal outer rim (cage) by scratching or sanding a little of the paint off around one of the screw holes that secures the speaker to the soundboard and attaching under the screw. It's easy.5254TeleStratMan
I have a Roland Streetcube Ex that I obtained for busking without AC power. The low end frequency was not satisfactory. I saw on YouTube where someone replaced the stock speakers with these. In my opinion, these did not work for me. The bottom end decreased further with the low mid being magnified far more than acceptable. I use the amp for electric guitar and backing tracks. With these speakers the bass decreased further and out of the blue the kick drum was extremely pronounced. Perhaps as guitar only these would be good. According to the Youtube poster, his backing tracks had a better bass response. My experience did not yield such results. When I reinstalled the stock speakers the backing tracks were back at acceptable EQ levels.Crazystrings

Reviews:
For around $20 you could hardly go wrong with these woofers. I used them to replace the woofers in an old pair of Bose book shelf speakers. I can't really tell if their sound quality is as good as the originals, but it's certainly OK and they didn't cost something like $200. In my case, though, I had to do quite a bit of modifying to make the replacements work with the more complex Bose originals. I feel that the Goldwoods have close to the same range as the Bose originals, but I think maybe they aren't quite as rich and warm. Still, overall they seem to have a good sound and are well built.Jack
My comments about gold wood, well one thing , is Goldwood a part of infinity? I think they are on the same street in Chatsworth Ca. Incredible sounding woofer for my infinity rs6001. When i purchased them they came with Goldwoods as replacements , one woofer was blown along with a ribbon. After replacement I test on a tube dynakit setup , I won’t talk about the high end of the RS6001s but the low end was quite impressive, these Goldwood woofers will play well below 32hz , the tightest of drum sound or a bass from an guitar these drivers are highly recommended with plenty of power handling. Thanks Parts express , as always you guys come through.Emerson
I was given a pair of Bose 601 with all the woofers blown. I replaced them with the 8028s. They were a tiny bit smaller so the screws had to go in at a bit of an angle to fit the previous holes. When I cranked these things up they sounded great. They had much bigger magnets than the originals that were in there before. I am very happy with the purchase. It is not often you something of value for your money.Rusty

Reviews:
I have EPI 100's. Had new foam on the woofers maybe 20+ years ago. The rubber was starting to crack again. I saw a review for these speakers from a guy replacing woofers on his EPI 100's. He said, the bass wouldn't run you out, but was clear. I also like bass that is clear, not the ghetto ride thump, thump! I bought two woofers to replace both. However, one EPI woofer still looked pretty good, so I left it alone. The new woofer was plug and play. The rubber looks more durable than the old foam rubber of the EPI's. Nice heavy magnet. The writer of the other review called it. The bass is rather clear, without being muddy. However, since I only changed one, I was able to compare the new woofer to the EPI at the same time. I think wine connoisseurs sometimes refer to wine as having complexity. The EPI woofer still sounds better, in my opinion. There is a nuance to the sound that I am not hearing with the Dayton. If I didn't have the EPI speaker to compare the Dayton to, I might not notice the subtle quality difference. So, I will probably get my EPI woofers repaired again. But, in the meantime, I will not be unhappy with these speakers. It is almost worth $50 to have speakers that are functional while I get the others repaired.Skyrocket
Given the external constraints from my cabinets etc, these drivers sound incredible! I purchased a pair of these as part of a complete driver and cross-over replacement for a pair of 17 liter cabinets, which used now ancient Philips drivers. Of the drivers that would near enough fit the countersunk driver mount these DC200-8 woofers seemed optimal. I used an approximately 2kHz crossover point which is perhaps two octaves too high for these drivers but I was also constrained by the available tweeters to also fit these cabinets. I achieved a simple cross-over circuit that controlled the peaks and troughs to within +/-4dB while being critically damped. I really am exceedingly pleasantly surprised how good the result sounds given the highly variant theoretical frequency response! To my ear, these woofers have low distortion through most of the band and are enjoyable to listen to. I like these woofers so much that I plan to use more of them in an old three-way set of cabinets.Roger
A friend at my work had an old set of AR93Q's he wanted to replace and he said I could have them if I hauled them away. All the original drivers were crapped out and had been poorly re-surrounded. I mean the glue jobs were a mess. I didn't care about restoring original parts, I just wanted good sound. First I replaced the tweeters and mid-bass units with Parts Express Part # 292-554 and Part # 264-330 respectively. I knew I had done well when the new drivers sounded exactly like the ones I had replaced. I wasn't going so much for an improvement in sound as I was the same sound, but newer components. The side firing woofers were next on the list, and I needed 4, so I chose these babies, and WOW!!! The difference in bass from the old woofers to these new Dayton Audio's was phenomenal. I was wondering if I had accidentally bumped my subwoofer's volume control after I had finished installing these and gave a listen test. It seemed like I gained another octave deeper in response, and this was with no extensive break-in period, like some woofers need. I can only expect better performance as these finally DO get broken in. Here you see my speakers in their semi-finished state. I have installed metal grills over the side firing units and plan on making grills to cover the front firing speakers. I was not fond of AR's original "Pillow Case" speaker grills, so I trashed those immediately. Once I complete these I will post a review with finished pictures of the grills installed. These woofers are awesome, glad I got them. Thanks again Parts Express.hammytechnoid

Reviews:
I bought a pair of these along with the GT-25 tweeters and crossover 260-174 to place into some inherited TDC two-way speakers. I wanted to have some fun. Reading other reviews I expected them to sound horrible out of the box. Indeed, once installed, they sounded harsh and just terrible. I persevered with some new Minus the Bear. After about 20 minutes of the album it still sounded bad but was getting better. I decided it needed more bass and paired it with my BIC F12 subwoofer. After connected with speakers in appropriate positions on stands and at ear level, I set the crossover to 80 Hz for the sub (with the sub set wide open). It sounded out of place, but showed promise. I then tried 100 Hz and was a little closer. Finally, I set it to 120 Hz and was rewarded with a nice and smooth sound. Then I tried some harder rock music with Senses Fail. After that, transitioned to a few rap songs with the new Drake and Future stuff. It sounded Excellent. Next up was some EDM where I play a Gettr remix. Again, excellent. Finally I ended with Jesus of Suburbia where I was inspired to write this review. For each of these songs I tried a few listening levels. Even cranked loud they still sounded smooth. At lower levels, still very pleasing. This was all tested with an Onkyo TX-SR503 receiver that I also inherited. In short, if you pair them with a decent sub, they are rewarding. On their own, they lack a little bass (possibly because my enclosure is a little big for the specs, 1.1 cu ft3).
I have a pair of EPI 100v bought with rotten surround..I found out the woofers are not original. I figured it will cost me 130 $ from Human speakers plus shipping..I decided to try these speakers. I have another pair that I re foamed the surrounds before with the original drivers. The difference? Get the original! or try to get old ones and re foam. The original bass I am looking for cannot be replicated by these speakers.EDGAR
I am very happy with these woofers. They sound great! I used them in my 40+year old Sony speakers and they sound better then ever with much stronger bass then the originals. I would also like to thank parts express for a great price, and excellent customer service, the packaging was very good and both speakers arrived in perfect condition.Scott

I wanted to try my hand at building my own bass cab to complement my amp head and because I wanted a quality sound I decided to go with Eminence, since you can find them in a lot of high end bass cabs like Ampeg and Basson. I didn't buy these at first, I bought the B102's instead and was disappointed with the end product. There wasn't enough clean low-end, and, I tuned the cab too low to compensate for that and it was a muddy tone that came out of an expensive set of speakers. So a year later I tried it again, but, I bought these on sale (BP 102's) and also bought the Eminence compression driver; Horn; Cabinet ready crossover. I now have a 210 bass cab that sounds better than any cab I've ever heard. I recently purchased a new bass amp (Markbass Big Bang) and together they are a match made in BASS HEAVEN. In fact without the purchase of the new amp, I may have never written this review, I've had theses speakers for over 2 yrs. So if you need to replace a 10" driver or you want to custom build a cab, this is the best driver for the money you can buy. But remember, without a tweeter or compression driver you'll be disappointed.Jmac
Searching for something better in my current upgraded ESS AMT3's, I took a change on these after modeling them in BassBoxPro. All I can say is wow!! These speakers totally kick some tail. Clean deep, and don't loose their composure under high volumes. However the biggest thing is detail. What better to produce bass guitar/drums like a live performance then a real bass guitar speaker?!?! Luckily these go lower then most, pretty amazing for the price. I have 2 of these in the AMT3 stock, but braced enclosure. 2.76 liter. Heavily damped with 1 1/2" foam on walls, and 2 sheets of Auralux 2" wedge foam directly behind the woofers. 2x 3" ports, 6" length. That tunes the box to 36 hz. Don't be afraid to tune low, the lower the better. They still can handle a ton of power, xlimit is 10 mm. Never cam close because the bass is tight, clean and deep. Well controlled, but oh so sensitive!! Wow the detail of these woofers just blows my mind!! Nothing even comes close in normal "audio" woofers. Be aware however to cross over to the mid around 250hz, these don't do mids well. But who cares in a 3-way? A Alpha 6A, or larger mid woofer would be ideal. Enjoy while these are still a still!! Who needs expensive audio woofers that kill all the detail anyway?Mojo
I replaced the dead speaker in my old practice bass amp with this speaker and was quite surprised how good it sounded and was surprised that it was better than the original in sound quality. gave new life to that old amp and saved me the cost of new amp. Good solid output in a sealed cabinet down to the low E on my 4 string fender bass.hotshoetom

Sounded great in a 1973 Bronco I installed it in. 4 ohm version.keithb7
I was a little hesitant that this speaker would work for my unique application. I'm not using it for a guitar amp but as a replacement speaker for a 1948 AM/FM/Phono radio that the original 10" speaker was missing. It turns out this speaker works great. I went with the 8" version instead of a bigger one to get a greater frequency range and am glad I did. This thing rocks even though the tube amp is only putting out 5w.Chad
I used two of these speakers (8 ohm in parallel) in a clone of the Magnatone Melodier 109 that I built. They turned out to be a perfect match for the self-split push-pull circuit. They have a rich sound when played clean, and they handle the output-tube distortion that the amp produces beautifully. Absolutely perfect for blues. And the price is right! My go-to 8" speaker.Jason

Reviews:
This is a very good sub-woofer for a music system in your home. It will go loud enough to make a very pleasant base, Do not expect it to loud enough to annoy the neighbors 🙂 You will need a bigger speaker for that. It works very well for me. I have bought 3 of them.Garry
I needed to replace a pair of very old built in full range speakers in our kitchen. I started with custom shaped foam panels with exciters, but found them lacking at the low end. Fitting these subwoofers into the old wall enclosures after stuffing the enclosures with poly and rigging a more airtight seal for the speaker mount ensured a decent (but undersized) enclosure that gave me just enough low end for my tastes. I've already started thinking about other parts of the house that might benefit from a passive subwoofer boost from another pair of these!Connor
This is a very decent subwoofer for the money. I believe I ended up only paying like $8 for this driver, can't really beat that. Sounds good for that money for sure. Only complaint is spl before distortion is too low. Holding up well though a year in.Taylor

I mated a pair of these to the Morel CAT378 (same sensitivity)and shifted the woofer forward 3/4" for better time alignment with 2kHz. 24 db LR crossover. These are by far my best sounding speakers to date. They do not go very deep so you will need a separate sub. My design was intended to allow me to use mine as Stage monitors or stand mount. I prefer the sound of these monitors using this driver over my churches older and long ago discontinued RCF ART300A's. I recently used this setup at and outdoor wedding and an coffee shop gig. Using this set up with a Sub using the B&C 12PS100 I'd say is the best small venue sound system I've heard to date. I credit this 8" driver for the very smooth midrange I've not had in other speakers and setups. The efficiency is less than most Pro stuff but the quality I got from this exceeds that of any pro stuff I've been able to use to date. I look forward to building more with these drivers.Persistence - 31569
I call this driver "Scan Speak on steroids." It is a very clean and neutral driver with high sensitivity and decent xmax. Unlike many pro drivers, it doesn't have an ugly front gasket that needs to be hidden, although the octagonal shape adds some difficulty in flush mounting, and with a thick 11mm face plate it does need flush mounting. Provided you have a tweeter that can handle a crossover around 1.5 – 2k, this is an excellent driver for a 2 way covering upwards of 80 Hz.The casting is a little rough on the mounting face plate. That means if you have a nice neat flush mount arrangement, you will have to allow a small gap. The paint finish is also not as robust as it could be. Despite being well packaged, some of the paint had come off in transit. It isn't bad enough for me to be concerned, but I haven't had this problem with typical hifi drivers.I will be using this driver for some on-wall surrounds, but I'm impressed enough with the sound that I could be happy with this as a main speaker.
These are the drivers used in the QSC I H28 speakers. I bought a pair three months ago and have been amazed and delighted ever since. They handle 200 watts at 8 ohms without a hint of distortion. In conjunction with the compression drivers they make a fantastic combination. Detailed, flat, nuanced, smooth, clear, LOUD! In this price range, it is unlikely you could get a better woofer.Geo C - 10239

I am using this driver as a center channel in my HT system. No tweeter incorporated yet, but the voices are reproduced very accurately. The enclosure is a short transmission line tuned to ~70Hz, for use as a "small" (bass limited) speaker. The efficiency is very high and should be considered when matching with other speakers. Was concerned about the small Xmax, but haven't had any problems thus far. Unit is beefy and of the highest quality. High frequency roll of is very natural sounding.SKarr - 17863
B&C was thinking outside the box on this one. I designed and built a straight horn using this driver, the response goes out to 3kHz! The magnetic force vs cone weight is very high allowing excellent horn mid freqs.richjoh - 00230
I've just completed a pair of Dallas II horns loaded with these drivers. I'm crossing them on the low end at 80hz with a 48db/octave roll-off. On the high end, I'm rolling them off at 1K, 24db/octave.At low volume, they purr right along as one would expect. After a few minutes of break-in I cranked the volume control–it was like opening a soundproof door and walking into a party! They carried their load with stunning realism, acting as if they had endured no stress what-so-ever.Smooth, sweet, and powerful, that's how I'd describe the sound.I can't see myself using any other driver for this portion of the audio spectrum. Wow!John Inlow - 27092

19. Seismic Audio 4×8 Bass Speaker Cabinet New 350 Watts 4 8 Pa/dj
Product Details:
Yes, these are 8 " speakers, but don't fooled. the sa-4×8 4×8 bass guitar speaker cabinet provides ample low end punch with a very clear mid range and high frequency response ! equipped with four quake 8" speakers and our very own super bullet tweeter, the sa-4×8 can hang with bass cabs much larger while still giving you plenty of full range articulation and attack. at 350 watts rms, its smaller profile makes it an excellent cab for the gigging musician who doesn't have the room for a bigger cab but doesn't want to sacrifice their sound for the real estate. great bass speaker cabinets are very hard to find, especially at a decent price. the seismic audio brand was designed to make the professional musician, as well as the musician low on cash, sound great. so, put it in your cart today and get ready for years of trouble-free, crystal clear sound!
Reviews:
Had to fix the horn when it arrived. Not a big deal, but not what you’d expect from a brand new cabinet. Sounds good now.Thomas D.
I have always been on the fence about SA. I was initially hesitant about quality in sound and build. However, once I unboxed my SA 4×8 and rigged up my SWR 350x and 1×15 Kustom cab with this beautiful cab at my thrash metal practice I was instantly sold. This cab has so much punch and all the cut that I was craving. Sad to hear that this cabinet is discontinued. By the time I decide to purchase a second one I fear it will be no longer available. I have not had the cab more than a week so I can't comment on the long term durability. I am a little worried about how it will hold up over the years if it is constructed from MDF. I plan to have a padded vinyl cover made for the cab to keep it safe from weather, spills, and load in/out wear. Overall I am extremely pleased with SA and their gear selection. I am already planning to replace my kustom 1×15 with a SA cab in the future.
Nice punch, crisp & responsive horn is a nice feature for a Great Price !!so far I’m digging itJohn G.
