Been a drummer all my life and a studio producer over the last decade. I recently dove into learning guitar; electric, bass, acoustic, and classical. I wanted to explore the special sound you get from a 12 string. I have a Taylor 214 CE Dlx which sounds fantastic, so I base my acoustic ears off what I get from that guitar. I played everything I could get my hands on up to $1000. I was simply blown away with this Mitchell guitar's sound and playability. I have found that less expensive 12 strings can be pretty glassy sounding and typically lack low end. Not this guitar. It has a very pleasing airy sound that is warm and articulate. It is well balanced across all the frequencies to my ears. Most tops are sitka spruce, this is mahagony and seems to be what really helps set it apart. I had to ignore the "brand" name and just go with my ears and instinct The strings were broken in and it stays in tune very well. It was set up very nicely with low action and just easy to play and inspiring. The bridge was still fairly flat and not pulling up much at all, as can be typical with cheaper guitars that use young wood that still needs to dry out and settle. If it sounds, feels and plays good and inspires you to play more, than you can never go wrong with your choice. Sold…Drum Dood
I have tried this guitar in 2 Guitar Centers (Manchester, CT and New London, CT) when shopping for other reasons but I like to try the goods while I'm there. Point being, I keep going back to it. I've been thinking about adding a 12string to my arsenal. After trying other brands in higher price ranges I find myself enjoying the playability and sound more while in disbelief if its price point. As I read other people's reviews I have come to the conclusion that it's a must have. There is a sale right now on the thing so I'll be owning it within a couple hours. For practice, trying something new, playing out… I believe we have a winner. Nice job, Mitchell. P.s. I couldn't bring myself to add an official Con, honestly. If anything, the appearance could be a setback if one finds value in such a thing. I plan on throwing cool stickers on here from traveling to add rock n'roll character to it so to heck with image.Ian
This is my first 12 string after 36 yrs of playing. There are no issues to speak of with the guitar I received. Sounds and plays excellent. Looks are better in person. Honestly couldn't be more happy about this guitar. I mainly playing electric guitar, rock to metal, and not that big into acoustic. If you get one, I sincerely hope it's as nice as mine. The Fender CD-60 sce is a quality guitar for the money. Whether you are a beginner or an intermediate player the guitar seems to be built to last. The solid spruce top and the internal build of the guitar creates a good sound that allows the treble tones to ring out, as well as keep the mellow low tones of a Fender guitar. The narrow neck, and thin profile allows for somebody with smaller hands to play it a little easier. As any new guitar especially at this price point, you can make some adjustments to help with the action and minor fret BuZz, but overall out of the packaging the guitar comes ready to play and sounds very good. Fishman and Fender partnering up in the pickup make a quality sound out of the PA. Remember there is better quality gear and guitars out there, but this guitar does exceed it's price point in the quality it produces.
First of all, this is a gorgeous guitar. It looks just great. It has a big, rich sound even moreso than other larger bodied guitars I've seen. The tuner works great. I love playing it. A few minor issues. First, I find the action high, & the bridge is not adjustable. 2nd, the complaints others have offered about the fret edges being VERY rough are entirely true: you can practically leave your hand bloody, I'm sure, if you play long enough, just from being roughed up by the fret edges. I'll try filing them down & refinishing them, as some have suggested. Finally, you'll want to get rid of the strings & go with a lighter gauge, partly to alleviate the high action issue. I'd get this guitar again. I think it is a $500 – $600 guitar lurking for only a little more than half that price. But before recommending it to a friend, I'd point out these couple issues.DET
Poor quality control! Neck is a mess with all of the fret ends protruding and sharp. One fret is noticeably higher causing all kinds of issues. Inside edge of the sound hole is poorly finished and some of the ribs look rough, like they weren't sanded smooth. This one's going back!Bill

Loved the look, price, sound, and feel of this guitar. Tried it out in the store and was ready to buy the floor model, but luckily I asked for a 9V battery to test the electronics at the counter. Oddly the battery port fits fine into the guitar when empty, but the moment you put a battery in it it will not stay shut and pops open rendering your electronics useless. Me and the sales rep at the front figured this was had to be a fluke and he ordered a new one to be delivered to my house. Four days later it arrived. I played it for about an hour out of the box without issue (set up was great, sounded great acoustic) and then I decied to check the electronics. Sure enough, the exact same issue occured when I tried to fit a 9V in the battery port. When a battery was actually in it, it would not stay shut. No tuner, no electronics. Ten minutes later I was back at my local GC. The tech inspected it an came to the same conclusion as I did after trying 5 different brand batteries to see if that made a difference- it's defective. He recommended I return it and try another product. In short it plays nice, sounds nice, and looks nice but if it happened on 2 guitars it has to be happening on more of them. I'm sure you could duck tape it or find a way to keep it closed but this should not be an issue on a $350+ guitar. 3 stars.Ryan

Overall, I'd say that I'm very happy with the guitar. It plays well, and it sounds great. I had to tweak it a bit, though. It had a respectable amount of bow in the neck when I received it. I've torqued most of it out, but I have the truss rod tightened as far as I dare to. The action is still a bit high at the 12th fret, but I'll take care of that when I change out the strings. It sounds very chimey and bright with no bottom end at all, hopefully a beefier set of strings will help with that. Skinny frets, I wish they were a bit more robust. String spacing (between pairs) isn't consistent between the nut and the bridge, I may notch the bridge a bit to eliminate that. Otherwise, it's a beautifully built guitar and a great value for the price. You won't be disappointed.

Well, after I got it, I could play all the solos I couldn't really play clean. I guess the other guitar really was bad, or this one is great. Funny thing, I had a really good player tell me to not buy this model but the more expensive one. Well, I'm glad I decided to go with this one. This guitar sounds great and it's extremely easy to play. The guitar stays in tune fairly well for a 12 string guitar. The action is low. I haven't tried it the electronics aside from the tuner which works fairly well compared to my snark. I do have a Taylor and Martin guitar, and the tone on this guitar is pretty clean.Juan

In 1962, eko decided to produce a series of folk guitars, upon popular demand by italian and foreign markets. after a thorough market research, the dreadnought shape was chosen, very much in fashion in the u.s. at the time. initially the 6-string j54 was produced. it was an immediate success due to style, playability and price. it wasn't long until there was a demand for a 12-string version, especially in us and uk, which led to the j56, as it was named until ‘67. after just a short time, the j56 became the best-selling 12-string guitar on the market. in 1967, both the 6-string and 12-string went through a restyle and the new versions were showcased under the names of ranger vi and ranger xii. eko is continuing the tradition of the ranger with a vintage reissue version as 6 and 12-string. the ranger is the guitar that very well represents the history of eko. a guitar that has been very important in the past, continues to be very important today and will surely become more important in the future of eko. it now brings new life the most beautiful and interesting features used in the past, all combined together in this stylish instrument. case sold separately.

Just got this guy….interesting guitar. some of the stock description is incorrect, the nut is steel or stainless steel and sits in a weird half fret area above the first fret (I have an old meazzi guitar with the same arrangement. the saddle is plastic and sits in a metal u shaped holder that you can adjust the height with the supplied alan key, handy, don't have to remove the saddle to lower the action. overall the thing is heavy and well built. had some work getting it playable though, it tuned up easy enough but there was that weird twang on the B string, usually tweeking the truss rod cures that, but it didn't, raising and lowering the saddle didn't fix it, changing the straight plastic saddle to a compensated plastic saddle didn't help either…..maybe one of the upper frets? got a little frustrating, then I decided to just change the strings, usually the first thing to do with a 300.00 guitar and that was that, no twang, weird, but this is an Italian guitar company (not to be racist, I'm Italian) so anyway, the fishman electronics are adequate, not a big fan of sound hole mounted controls but fortunately the 9 volt battery is located at the bottom of the lower bout next to the 1/4" jack as apposed to some guitars with a velcroed holder buried inside the guitar. this guitar is a strummer for sure and after I beat it up at home for awhile I'll do a gig with it.Nick
I took a chance and purchased it sight unseen because it was on sale and the most interesting (to me) in its price range. Color isn't as solidly orange-looking as in the photo. The grain is still visible. Logo on the headstock is a three-d decal, not inlay. Guitar is pretty heavy, too. The bridge is easy to adjust, which was useful, considering there was some fret buzz in the set up. After some tweaking and new strings, it's turned out to be a nice guitar.Manuel

The CC 60sce has a more cheery upper range, great for folk or country songs. The tuner is accurate and easy to read. The colors of the guitar really shine in good lighting. I'm not sure if it's the strings being new or if it's just the guitar but they seem to need some frequent tuning. Other than that, this is a great guitar for beginners hoping to play for a small audience or jamming with friends at home. Great feel and sound. But the little $1.99 door that holds the battery for the Fishman electronics is or will break, and it's a non-repairable part. You have to return the guitar to repair it. Disregarding the battery, the guitar is great. And I would buy it again. It's not a top of the line $1000 guitar, but it is a top of the line $200 guitar (with an extra $150 added on for broken electronics). The overall size is good, and the neck and frets are a good size for my 12 year old daughter. The action feels good with little fret buzz and it seems to stay in tune all day. I've had 2 of these now. My first one had a broken batt door when opening the box. Per Fender's rules, I returned the whole guitar for a replacement. Great! Except on the 2nd one the little door is too wimpy to stay clipped shut. So the battery just falls out. Maybe I'll have to resort to a big strip of duct tape to hold the door shut. Yeah. That sounds like a good idea. Or just rely on the clip-on tuner I already have and use a Mic to amplify it.Ben (again)
Great guitar for a beginner like me. Shame that the plastic battery cover didn't fit properly and I broke it trying to install the battery on the first day. That said, this is a really nice guitar for any level player. Good quality guitar but Fender should spend a few more pennies on that battery cover. The second I grazed my first chord this guitar captured my heart. The warm, airy, haunting tone brought a tear to my eye when I ran the intro to I Stay Away by Alice In Chains. Upon inspection this is a well put together piece of equipment that performs as it should, and at a price that brings quality to all budgets. I will admit that I am a guitar snob. I would never imagine that a guitar of this price could look, feel, and sound so good. It definitely looks like a more expensive guitar than it is, but it also feels that way. There was only one sharp fret end. The action is consistent up the neck. The tuners are smooth and stay in tune. I did change the strings when I brought it home, and here is a weak spot. The bridge pin holes are too big for the pins, so they all are riding very low. They are secure, but it is definitely a quality control issue. The on board electronics are entry level, as you would expect. Overall, I am very pleased with this guitar, and I remain impressed that they can build a guitar with a solid spruce top, that looks and sounds like it does for this price.Fredd
It's a beautifully made guitar with a solid spruce top. Very solid feeling, and looks great! It plays easily, the neck is comfortable and straight, and the action is low; I may raise the action a little when I change strings. The sound is incredibly rich, full, and clear. It is a joy to listen to as you play it. I will keep it tuned a whole tone down, and use a capo if necessary, so as not to stress the neck, bridge, etc. I believe Mitchell guitars are made in Indonesia, not China. I am learning to find the open type chords that sound so good on a 12-string guitar. It will increase my acoustic versatility and skill. I’ve owned a EF381SC-LH since the early 90s. My being left handed had a lot to do with my decision to purchase it, as up to that point it was the only 12 string I’d ever seen in person, never mind Getting to play one. I was able to tune it by ear and it plays as easily as an electric guitar, so buying it was a no brainer. But over the years I’ve come to appreciated it more for it’s acoustic and amplified tone. It sounds great plugged into my guitar amp, it doesn’t need to go through a PA. It takes the dry New England fall/winter less than 20% humidity while never protruding a fret or needing a truss rod adjustment. I do use two Dampits less than diligently. This 12 string Is one of the best values in the guitar universe, if you have ever wanted one this is the one to get.Stan
I use this guitar as a requinto. (Mexican Guitar) It's just beautiful. I'm at a loss of words with this one the beautiful Gloss Black Finish and the mahogany Takamine logo and Fret markers are just flawless. I would purchase this guitar time after time if i had the money. Oh, and not to mention the electronic pickup that comes factory with it. This guitar was sold as "blemished." I haven't found any blemishes on the guitar. When it arrived it still had the plastic scratch guard on the pickguard, and the strings were still stretching the way brand new strings do. I tried the lower range Takamine 12 string, the GD 30CE, and wasn't happy with the feel of the the neck, string height, or the over all sound of the guitar. So I ordered this one. I know this range of Takamine guitars well because I own an EF 341SC. So far, this guitar has delighted me at every turn. I've not yet played the guitar through a PA system, but plugged into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface and recording it sounds great: well balanced and rich. The same if not better recording off of a live mic. The neck feels good, the string height is perfect.Ron

I purchased this guitar for a different sound. I have had a dozen guitars before and currently have a Cort Gold O6 and Fender Vintera Modified 50s Tele which I love for different reasons. After trying a Taylor Academy 12e-N, which had a great sound but I didn't life the feel of the shorter 12 fret neck, I picked up my first one of these. Build and sound was great, but I had a lifted fret (#12) which buzzed. I tried to press it back in myself, but no luck so I'm guessing something swelled in the neck after the frets were leveled, crowned, and polished. I sent it back for an exchange.Jay

Sound: In regards to “sound” “presence” this pretty girl has enough for the price; in fact, it rings most crisp at the high end with nice low end presence for it’s size. Plugged in, it is actually expectable for strumming and picking! It’s size is just awesome for living room small studio or patio sessions (actually, I have laid down some sweet tracks using this well rounded acoustic) The electronics are acceptable enough- though I am going to upgrade mine because I do use it constantly. The Soft case is very nice and durable. My ONLY knock, the string holes/bridge assembly, cedar non-pin; the eyes of the strings are beginning to stress the inlets “widening them” due to the steel recessing the wood; the eyelets literally seated against it. This is a miner issue and a commonly used one. It makes stringing the the Breedlove most easy and quick, no pins popping with sting winding- This is definitely a most awesome beginners acoustic-it is definitely far more guitar for the money; however. If it’s a impulse thing-all of a sudden wanting to learn and play guitar- or young beginners- wrong guitar! There are far better values in the 150.00 to 200.00 dollar range, decent and not as much of an investment if the “fire” “urge” burns out becoming closet/attic clutter or family room/bedroom decor! I made this mistake years ago before I got serious and completely committed to the passion playing easily two hours or more a day- if the passion sets in getting “GAS” (Gear Acquisition Syndrome), this IS a perfect acoustic to move up to. If you want larger gear, the Fender California Series is very tight, most sweet for $429.00, I have a Redondo that shreds! Entirely different guitar though and do not recommend for beginners because of its fret length, width and strength required to ring out the chords- especially bar chords. I bought a Luna wabi Sabi folk in January 2022, after looking for a cheap Yamaha to keep at work. The Luna was a bit more expensive but it felt and sounded great and I liked that it had electronics and a tuner. After 3 weeks the frets grew sharp to a point where it became unplayable, slicing my index finger. I humidified and filed the frets down. Then frets 1 and 12 started to buzz. Looking down the fingerboard, I can see frets have begun to rise out of their slots. My local shop said the guitar was not worth the repair, understandable. I decided it was unplayable, so I raised the nut to use it for slide and Dobro playing but when I changed the strings, I noticed that all of the tuners had a lot of play, I tightened the ring nuts on 5 out of 6 tuners. I pulled it out of it's case this morning to see the top has cracked clean through, from the sound hole along where the top meets the fret board. It wasn't dropped or damaged and it lived in a humidified guitar room.
I own several vintage acoustics and high end guitars and I treated this guitar as I would any other instrument I own. Very poor quality that could be excused if it was a $100 guitar but it's not.Gregory Tellier
In the words of Mark Knopfler, "Loving guitars means you've got to love the cheap ones as well," and so, in that spirit, on the hunt for a cheap, fun acoustic to add to the collection, and with Musician's Friend reward points to spend, Wabi Sabi, the concept of finding beauty in imperfection just made this kinda irresistible. The whole point of this guitar I guess is that the solid spruce top is classified as "B-stock" thus making a solid top acoustic available in a price range where laminated tops are far and away the norm. But why are these solid spruce tops regarded as lesser? Apparently because, well, cosmetic imperfections. In other words the grain is irregularly spaced, and there are a couple of wavy, knotty patterns that have no impact on the guitar's sonic quality. But it's a solid spruce top nonetheless. Mahogany neck, very smooth and has a nice feel. Laminated mahogany sides and back. The fit and finish are actually very good. Satin finish, a bone nut. Nothing earth-shattering, but all very attractive and, best of all, straight out of the box, this guitar required very little effort to get dialed in. The intonation was spot on across the fret board, and the action was lovely, 2mm on the low E side and about 1.5mm on the high E side. Unlike many acoustics at this price point, playability is a non-issue. It's a joy to play. Tone-wise, this is basically a folk or orchestra model, and so it's simply not designed to project like a dreadnaught, but what it does offer is very good. I would describe its tone as warm, woody, with a rather mid-rangey voice, definitely not boomy at all on the low end, nor brash or harsh on the treble end, but nicely articulated and very well balanced across the fingerboard. The lone notable flaw was a slightly high 4th fret which caused some very minor buzzing at about four different touch points on the neck. Depending on your comfort level with such things as dressing a fret, this is either a big deal or not. For me, it's not a huge issue, but I buy inexpensive guitars with the idea that they will require at least some tweaking, and for me at least, this one required much less than most. I have only tested out the electronics briefly but was able to dial in very musical, highly usable tones with little effort through a cheap acoustic DI and amp with a touch of reverb. Overall, this guitar feels like a keeper. It's a player. It sounds good. The setup was far better than expected, it required very little effort to optimize and, unlike many similarly-priced guitars, it holds tune very nicely. First of all, the Wabi Sabi Grand Concert Acoustic Electric Guitar is a cutaway. The photos on the Musician's Friend page shows the Wabi Sabi dreadnought (I have uploaded a photo of the guitar I received from MF and perhaps they will post the proper photos after reading this). The design around the sound hole, the color, neck and headstock are all the same as the dreadnought. That being said, this guitar exceeded my expectations right out of the box. It is solid, maybe a bit heavier than similar guitars in this size. Also, I would not know that the top is made from "B-grade" wood- the finish is tip-top and it feels good in hands. Appearances aside, this guitar plays comfortably and sounds as good or better than most solid tops I have played. The spruce is perhaps a bit brighter than my past acoustics (usually mahogany-topped) but it handles the low end like a dreadnought and strums with a full, rich sound. The neck is fast and smooth, the tuners are quality and the action, on arrival, was low without any detectable fret buzz. Plugged in, the guitar sounded balanced but overloaded my Behringer practice amp unless I kept the pre-amp leveIs lower than what I was used to (the equalizer on the preamp offers 4 level controls and volume). Perhaps pre-amp volume should be kept lower than similar acoustic-electrics but I will defer that one to more experienced opinions. Been a drummer all my life and a studio producer over the last decade. I recently dove into learning guitar; electric, bass, acoustic, and classical. I wanted to explore the special sound you get from a 12 string. I have a Taylor 214 CE Dlx which sounds fantastic, so I base my acoustic ears off what I get from that guitar. I played everything I could get my hands on up to $1000. I was simply blown away with this Mitchell guitar's sound and playability. I have found that less expensive 12 strings can be pretty glassy sounding and typically lack low end. Not this guitar. It has a very pleasing airy sound that is warm and articulate. It is well balanced across all the frequencies to my ears. Most tops are sitka spruce, this is mahagony and seems to be what really helps set it apart. I had to ignore the "brand" name and just go with my ears and instinct The strings were broken in and it stays in tune very well. It was set up very nicely with low action and just easy to play and inspiring. The bridge was still fairly flat and not pulling up much at all, as can be typical with cheaper guitars that use young wood that still needs to dry out and settle. I have tried this guitar in 2 Guitar Centers (Manchester, CT and New London, CT) when shopping for other reasons but I like to try the goods while I'm there. Point being, I keep going back to it. I've been thinking about adding a 12string to my arsenal. After trying other brands in higher price ranges I find myself enjoying the playability and sound more while in disbelief if its price point. As I read other people's reviews I have come to the conclusion that it's a must have. There is a sale right now on the thing so I'll be owning it within a couple hours. This is my first 12 string after 36 yrs of playing. There are no issues to speak of with the guitar I received. Sounds and plays excellent. Looks are better in person. Honestly couldn't be more happy about this guitar. I mainly playing electric guitar, rock to metal, and not that big into acoustic. If you get one, I sincerely hope it's as nice as mine. I ordered this instrument as I was curious as to how I'd get along with 12 strings, and to see if it would be worth future investment. I've ordered and played an Epiphone EJ-200 before and was surprised by the brilliant quality I was getting for such a low cost, so on this occasion I followed Epiphone again for my foray into 12 string playing. The instrument is well crafted for the price point with only a few small QC issues slipping through, but nothing I can't live with. I was hoping for a larger sound as the small dreadnought body doesn't quite articulate as well as a bigger instrument would. It's got that jangle sound you want, although it feels like it's a little suppressed with the mahogany build and body shape & size. That being said, the instrument handles very well, and for me it was an easy adaption to play with the much thicker and wider neck. It holds tuning well and was set up pretty nicely – I didn't have to make any adjustments out of the box. For a first 12 string I'd recommend this above most others at the price point.
This is my Long Term Review. I have had this guitar for a bit over two years now and can give a more complete picture of it. First, the good. This is a very well made guitar. Under the pros, you will notice I mentioned Good Construction. This is particularly important in a 12 string. The biggest issue with all 12's is that they tend to come apart very quickly. You will have bowing, warping, separation of glueing, etc. All this is because of the tremendous extra pressure 12's suffer. After 2+ years, this guitar is still solid as a rock, and I leave it strung all the time. So I would say construction and bracing are very good on this instrument. Along with this is the fact that it Stays In Tune. This is another major issue with all 12's. Again, that extra force tends to make them go out of tune quickly. This one holds tune very well, and that is important as tuning a 12 takes some time. As for sound, I would say Not too Bad overall, and Really Good for an budget level guitar. It is a little thin for my taste, but there are ways around that. First, throw on a set of decent strings. I prefer Martin Marquise on mine, but personal choice. Second, I like to play through an acoustic amp, and I put a Seymour Ducan Woody on mine. When adjusted correctly, I can get a really decent, full bass sound, lots of body and still keep a nice jangle expected from a 12. Will it sound like a Martin or Gibson, no, but it gives a really nice sound for such a low price. As for the negatives, very few. First, keep in mind when Epiphone says "Select Spruce Top," they really mean laminated, not solid. But I suppose there varying qualities of laminated woods as well, and this one is great – really good resonance and sustain. It could maybe do with a better set of tuners, but as said before, it holds tune exceptionally well. Overall, for the price, Epiphone makes a really nice and playable guitar. Now am just praying they come out with a Masterbilt version of it.kdw
As usual with AMS, my order process was very easy,. The order arrived exactly when it was supposed to. However that’s when it all went South….! Exited to see and play my new 12 string, I unboxed it’s and sat down to play it. There was a single string in tune, not a one. A first I might add from AMS. I spent the rest of the day attempting to tune the guitar, although I never did. The tuners were difficult to turn, as if there was a bind of some type. I would get the note close only to have it go flat or sharp. I never was able to get it right. I called a friend of mine who’s been playing over 50 years and he was unable to get it in tune as well. Unfortunately I did return it to AMS, without issue. I must add, I have 2 other Epiphone guitar, electric and acoustic and they both came out of the box nearly perfect. I have never had a negative issue with AMS, and even the call to Customer Service was very positive and the agent could not have been nicer and even apologetic. I’m guessing this was just a lemon, but for now I’m going to do a little more research before I decide which 12 string I order, at this particular price point.

I have owned a number of high-end 12 Strings. This Fender can hang with them and some Twice as expensive and more! It was perfectly set-up right out of the box. Great action and play-ability.I am still Impressed with this guitar especially at it's price point. The strings it came strung with were not for me. It is The one thing that I changed and it just made the sound POP, the voice INCREDIBLE and made the guitar even more impressive. The strings I used are the Martin Retro Monel Custom Lights. It opened a whole new sound for this guitar. I have owned this now over 4 months and am still awed. For a twelve string it holds its Tuning even when I am wailing and using my Dunlop Brass slide. You really cannot go wrong with this well built and great sounding Guitar! Don't wait if your looking, pull the trigger and BUY IT NOW! Things I like: -Noiseless pickups sound pretty close to regular single coils but without the annoying hum. They may not sound 100% as glassy as my Tele single coils, but if we're honest, very few people will notice the difference and the trade-off for quiet pickups is well worth it. -One volume and one master tone is user friendly like a Telecaster -Comfortable body and neck -Rotary switch adds a nice boost to get closer to Tele or p90 when needed Comments: -First time I tried out the rotary switch I thought it was kinda of dumb, but after setting it up, I think it is most valuable to add some thickness when the thinner Strat sounds needs a bit more. I like it now but still think the lower settings aren't truly necessary. Makes the neck pickup more suitable for jazz and gets the bridge close to a Tele. -After received, we tweaked it but adjusting the truss rod, filing the nut a bit for a couple strings, raising the pickups to the Fender specs (3.2mm), adjusting the rotary switch so when you turned it the knob would stop and not just keep spinning when you got to the end of the options. -Make sure you unplug the guitar from the amp or the battery will run down very quickly -Never owned a Pau Ferro fretboard before but it's very close to Rosewood. If you're on the fence, I wouldn't let it put you off. In the end, we've got a very usable, comfortable, versatile Strat that sounds great! If you are looking for a Stratocaster that can do Strat tones and can get close to Tele or even Les Paul (maybe a bit far on the Les Paul but again, close is the operative word–there is no ONE guitar) when needed, all with noise-free pickups, then this is a great choice.Steve

I’m a huge fan of 12-string guitars. I have two others, as well as a 12-string banjo (banjitar). My other instruments are usually kept at the performance venue where I work, and I wanted a guitar to keep at home and write with. Ordering online without playing first is always risky, but the Takamine GJ72-CE was ready to go almost right out of the box,” not to mention visually appealing. After tuning up, it was wonderful. The action is very nice, very good for faster playing, and the overall sound is well balanced. It’s quite a bright sound, but there is plenty of bass tone and good mid-range to match. The intonation is also exceptional. Chords and notes voiced in the upper frets are in tune across all strings. The electronics are very good, especially for the price. There is a great deal of control over the sound, and it sounds very natural. And oddly enough (to my ears, anyway), it sounds the best and most natural with “EQ Bypass” turned on. The only complaint I have is the sticker on the back of the headstock is difficult to remove and left some adhesive residue, but I don’t think it’s worth knocking off a star for something trivial like that. Overall, for the price, this is a fantastic guitar. It sounds great and looks great. Five stars.
