1. Yamaha Slg200nw Nylon-String Silent Guitar
Product Details:
Slg200nw offers real classical guitar experience with conventional classical guitar neck construction. warm and rich plugged-in sound by the srt powered system, ebony fingerboard for tight and clear acoustic sound, gold baseplates on the tuning machines for the taste of high-end. with the slg, yamaha set out to bring a modern feel to the classic contours of a conventional guitar. the distinctive design that emerged is the result of a collaborative effort between the project team and the yamaha design laboratory, and combines traditional guitar lines with an innovative new form unlike that of any guitar before it.srt powered is a new system designed to recreate the body resonance of an acoustic guitar in a bodiless guitar. yamaha developed srt powered, collaborating with recording artists to create a system tailored to the unique properties of the new slg body and modelled after the tones of a high-end yamaha acoustic guitar captured using a carefully selected microphone in a professional recording studio environment. by actually reproducing the sound of an acoustic guitar-right down to its natural sustain and decay-yamaha lets guitarists experience the genuine body resonance, body tone and ambience of an acoustic guitar. srt powered sound can even be mixed with the sound from the instrument's piezo pickups, allowing guitarists to be even more flexible in their creative endeavors. because the slg can virtually reproduce the sound of a guitar recorded with a microphone, players are free from complicated procedures involved in mic-ing up a guitar when recording at home or in other settings.

Reviews:
Bought this mainly as a travel guitar. My go too guitars are a Taylor 12en and a Córdoba orchestra CE nylons along with a selection of steel stringed instruments. Compared to all those guitars the Yamaha is a disappointment and it serves me right for buying a guitar on line I'd never played. The action is high, even for a nylon, and makes playing tiring. Try to lower the action and there is buzz from the D string. The sound, either through quality headphones or an acoustasonic amplifier is really "synthetic". It is difficult to really pick out the ring of individual strings when playing relatively fast. So it doesn't help much during practice – the sound is just too "blurred". The much talked about STR electronics are not very useful in improving the sound. I'm debating taking it back to guitar center and trading it in. But it has its uses when I need to be quiet like in a hotel while traveling. But that's all it will be used for, because I never enjoy the sound it makes compared to a real nylon acoustic. It's really expensive too, worth $300 at best.Graeme A
I've played classical guitar for 40 yrs and fingerstyle jazz/blues for 25 yrs. Most of the guitars in my collection are expensive collector's instruments: Taylors, Gibsons, and a handmade classical guitar by the Spanish Luthier Ricardo Sanchis, to name a few. While I don't play publicly much anymore, I have performed classical guitar in concert. I'm no pro, by any means, but a good Saturday still includes at least 4 hours of playing. As for the SLG200NW, I am ALWAYS amazed at how great this guitar sounds. I run it through a Fishman Aura (get one), and the sound is nothing short of SPECTACULAR. When run through a good pre-amp (or imaging), it sounds like a VERY expensive instrument. This guitar is super responsive to touch, producing both delicate nuance and big sound without a hint of string buzz or hiss. Most remarkable for me is how playable it is. The fingerboard, action, and frets gives me the feeling of "glide" that I do not get with any other guitar. The machine heads are also very responsive, and the guitar stays perfectly in tune. Clearly one of the most obvious benefits (aside from the above) is the ability to play silently without disturbing anyone nearby. This is ESPECIALLY helpful when practicing scales or repeating passages hundreds of times; we all know how irritating this is to others. Slip on headphones and get lost, undisturbed and without disturbing others. This aspect (even without great sound) would've been enough for me. For true classical purists, get the wide neck. The feel is exactly like a good classical guitar. The version with the smaller neck is just too cramped for classical playing. Again I suggest using it with a good pre-amp. It's worth it. Final note on Yamaha classical guitars: Many years ago, I was in a master class at the Royal Academy of Music in Madrid. I had Yamaha classical (my first guitar). EVERYONE else had a Ramirez. My teacher, a pupil of Segovia, heard my Yamaha and could NOT believe his ears!Indigo
Two design flaws: The strap buttons screw in and out to attach the top of the "body." They loosen over time as the strap moves making it easy for them to fall out and the guitar to fall on the floor. Also the upper part of the "body" is very "sharp" and digs into my forearm much more than any other guitar leaving a lot of red creases. Aside from these flaws the quality is good but I just don't enjoy playing it possibly due to the action or the lack of tone/authentic feel. I also dislike it when I see people perform with this guitar. People should play real guitars in performance IMO.Christopher
2. Yamaha Slg200n Nylon String Silent Guitar (Crimson Red Burst)

Yamaha slg200n in great condition! a more rare crimson finish version. this guitar has been gigged with for a short period of time before the covid hit, and became a closet queen ever since. it does show minor signs of use here and there, but nothing major and the structure is rigid and sound! the electronics work perfectly, too.the action is low and easy to play. no fret wear. the sound and feel will blow you away for a guitar as slim as this. and its silent quality will double if not triple your practice time, especially if you share room with others or live in a crowded area and want to play late at night.comes with the original gigbag, earphones, allen wrench, new batteries.

Beautiful and quirky. Great concept and excellent implementation. Pros * SRT sound is eerily good * For the price it is well put together. Nice wood and finish. TBS blends wood and plastics well. * Reverb settings are addictive. * Time just evaporates when plucking away with cans on. Cons * Frame can be a bit uncomfortable over time. Digs into my ribs. (I play it seated) * Not so sold on the piezo alone sound. * Factory setup has quite a high action. I am told by my local luthier that 3mm at 12th fret is typical. (I have not played a classical for decades so perhaps I am expecting too much) I love it.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
Lightweight travel guitar will proper width neck that sounds better than it should on paper. You can mix between piezo pick-up and mic emulator for a realistic full sound, also has two types of reverb and a chorus effect built-in. The headphone socket doesn’t mute the unbalanced line out is great for monitoring onstage, also has an auxiliary 3.5mm jack socket for playing along to music on any device (with separate volume control).Reviewed by guitarguitar custome
Plays beatifically. Really nice sound through headphone or output jack. Not quite like a classical guitar – sustain is longer, a bit more like an electric guitar, so sometimes a need to dampen strings when you wouldn't need to on a 'real' guitar. Easy to play – I was pleasantly surprised I did not have to adapt my position in any way. Really nice reverb (chorus is there as well, but I don't ever use chorus – seems OK though) Nice gig bag..Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

So, what is it? Acoustic or electric? Wanting to re-learn the guitar I started to look for acoustic guitars. I’ve had Yamaha in the past, so a safe place to start now. The ‘silent’ guitar fitted the bill perfectly. I don’t annoy anyone but can play for hours. But… You will see below the ‘would I recommend it' is NO, and 'is it comfortable to play' is OKAY. Why? The NO is because you must understand what it is. I didn’t know and you can’t quite tell from the photos and videos. I thought I was buying an acoustic guitar (PMT have it in the electro-acoustic and acoustic sections). But it is not. The designer has flubbed it for the desperately simple reason of the body width. Because you create the sound with the body of an acoustic they are wide, deep. Not so here. With no need for a body it is a shallow, electric guitar depth. So when I set up in a classical guitar position, I was all wrong; far too close. The designer should have made the outer body shell deeper, AS IF it were a classic guitar depth. So, what is it? It is an electric guitar you can play 'silently’. Hence the reason why the recommendation is NO, If you want a ‘silent’ acoustic, this is not really it, unless you are happy with the electric guitar body depth. And the OKAY recommendation is there because if you are expecting a classic acoustic depth, as I was, you will be disappointed, despite the excellence of the kit. This then brings along another annoyance. Luckily, I decided upon getting a strap. Handy really, but now the lack of body means a lack of good balance. In an electric guitar the body weight ‘holds’ the guitar down, here the neck is the heaviest item and it just feels a little odd as, sometimes, I get the feeling the my left arm isn’t so free because it is forming the chords/riffs AND ALSO supporting the guitar. That is probably just me being finicky, though. Or, at least, it is my excuse why I can’t form the chords/riffs quickly enough whilst re-learning. So I am now going to get some Ernie Ball electric guitar strings, as I had on the Gibson twin, and work it as a ‘silent’ electric guitar. As noted on PMT, it has been on stage and I would be happy doing so later, if that is where I intend to go. To end on some positives, the ability to dismantle it saves some great space when transporting it in the half-size bag. The electronics in the guitar completely fool the mind into believing you have a real, live acoustic guitar in your hands. The action is superb. Overall, do I like this kit? Am I pleased? Would I change? Yes, I do like it. Yes, I am pleased. No, I wouldn’t change. I now know what it is, what I am doing with it, and where we can go together.Mr R.
Plays great straight out of the box. A comfortable design with great features. Doesn’t react the same as a normal acoustic but the lack of physical body means it’s much less prone to feedback (I like a full bottom end on my acoustic sound) Great value for money and the intonation is great for multiple tunings.L C.
As I live in an apartment complex and practice at night, this silent guitar is perfect for me. The sound is much dimmer than a full bodied acoustic guitar. When played with headphones or amplifiers, the sound is a great replica of a full body acoustic guitar. One thing to note however, the guitar had very high string action that made it hard to play. I had to have it adjusted but apart from that it's a great guitar.

Reviews:
It has a few design flaws. Firstly, don't freak out when you test the sound by plugging your good headphones into it like I did. You'll be greeted by an awful muddy mess. I almost panicked, but don't fall for it. Yamaha seem to have "tailored" the "Phones" output for the truly nasty plastic headphones they supply, which have no bass and are generally yuk, so when you hear too much bass in decent cans, that's why. Don't be surprised if you have to turn the pickup up/mic balance all the way to mic, drop all the bass and boost all the treble to compensate. Took me a while to work it out. However, the feed to your amp hasn't been fiddled with, and sounds great! The screws that hold the detachable part of the body on also act as your strap holders, which means they unwind themselves all the time – VERY annoying. It's a little uncomfortable because the frame is so thin, so I added a pad to the top. Sound-wise, I just can't fault it – it's excellent. It's not silent, perhaps twice a loud as my un-amplified Strat is, but it's far less noisy than any other acoustic, which really helps to not upset the neighbours. The build quality is superb. The on-delivery set up was equally excellent, no high and dodgy action to fix here, it was spot on right out of the box. One personal hate is the material they've used for the finger rest (pick guard) as it's horrible scratchy plastic, but really these are all minor things. It plays and sounds brilliantly (far better than I know how to play it to be honest.) The on board tuner is accurate, and the effects are entirely useable. It's not like playing an electric, and it's not entirely like paying a full acoustic either, its… well it's just what you'd expect. Unusual, but in no way unpleasant, just different. I'm very pleased overall, just watch out for the headphones thing, it really threw me until I worked out what was going on.
I've had the previous model before and sold it (not by choice). I am isolated away from home and needed a guitar to play. This fit the bill nicely. It's an improvement over the previous model. Plays and sounds nice. The neck is chunky (like an acoustic). I would like the neck a little thinner much like an Ovation. Sounds great through a tiny speaker out of the headphone jack and also sounds great from the 1/4". VersitileDon
This guitar will work miracles for you: your parents will let you live in their basement one more year; your spouse will decide not to get an apartment downtown after all, and your neighbors won't burglarize your apartment to destroy your guitar. It operates on a 9V battery, sounds good through headphones, and you can plug into an amp if you want. It has chorus, echo and reverb built in, as well as volume and tone controls. All in all, an excellent practice guitar.hoovetho.n1bj6

Since I was a teenager I wanted a guitar just like this one and I'm thrilled, it was even cooler than I expected. It arrived a bit earlier than expected in perfect condition. It's a wooden beauty, with excellent sound, it has a tuner built in, one treble knob, another one to adjust the heaviness of the lower sounds, another one to set an echo (3 modes), another one for the volume, another one for blend control, and volumes both for audio in and the guitar itself. It included a strap, the manual, some batteries and headphones as well. Oh, and a soft case, where it can be stored disassembled and it occupies less space than a regular-sized guitar. Thoroughly enjoying the purchase. I can play as loud as I want without disturbing anybody 🙂sebastipinznmendoz_0

Mine was set up great right out of the box (I did upgrade strings once I played the stock ones). The guitar plays better than my acoustic that was twice as much (open F chord and Dm are easy to finger on this guitar)-the more expensive guitar sounds better for sure, but this Yamaha FD01S is easy on the fingers and sounds decent. Overall, it's a no-frills guitar. Nice finish, very basic ornamentation. Things that matter, like action and sound, are fantastic at this price point. Treble is really gorgeous-very pure, resonation between B and High E is spectacular. Bass is adequate. Barre chords are easy-neck looks really cheap but plays fast. Basic guitar but with a solid top. Good choice-Martman
I compared the Yamaha FD01S, the guitar in the gigmaker deluxe package, with the acclaimed FG-700S. All I can tell is, Yamaha cut corners on bridge pins, pick guard, and headstock. The rest of the guitar is identical. Maybe the FD01S has a lower grade solid spruce top, but even that is a cosmetic difference and does not impact sound. I bought the FD01S outside of the gigmaker deluxe kit: I have all the accessories already. My recommendation is trash the accessories and keep the guitar. Upgrade accessories and strings on the guitar, and for $250-$300 you'll have a nice solid top guitar with a nice strap and strap button, a quality clip on tuner, and a nice hard shell case (go generic on the case and save some money there). For the price, this is a fine guitar. You'll want to change the bridge pins, but even the saddle is great for Yamaha: compensated saddle-nice touch (same as on FG720s). Sound is good: great treble, good bass for nato laminate. Fingerboard is fine-frets nicely on open F chord, strings easy on the fingers, no fret buzz.
Great guitar!! a real Gig maker…. Deluxe!! By Yamaha!! The Standard is good too. I have been playing for most of my life, I have played with some very famous people. I teach, and damn it most students dont get honest advice about what guitar they should choose. This guitar is perfect for a student. I have one I teach with and Yamaha makes a good product. Ok, its no high end guitar, but it will play well when tuned right and sound real good after a few years. If the student decides to move up and improve there instrument, well they can put this puppy on craigs list and get most of there cash back. If it stays with them for a lifetime, well with care it could just get passed down to the grand kids… Besides its not the guitar makeing the music, its the person playin it… I think this guitar will be loved by the person who owns it regardless of how it plays or how it sounds.. In my pro opinion, its good!!!!!! Good choice and I would be willing to record with it just to put the nay sayers to bed… The Yamaha Gig maker Delux!!!! again good quality… The Gig maker Delux, by Yamaha a value for the price this Gig make Deluxr by Yamaha…

I wanted a classical guitar that was easy to transport and could be played without disturbing others. This is perfect. It is well made, with good intonation and action. The on board fx are great. It means I can really enjoy long trips away from home and not miss out on my favourite hobby of playing the classical guitar.

Nice guitar, I used it in recording its impressive. I love it.cjqatar
The 3.5 mm headphone jack doesn't always make contact correctly and sometimes requires a slight twist to make proper contact for headphones to work. The sound is very good but the controls are small and sometimes hard to read. Ideally it would be great to have the volume, tone, and effect controls on the pick guard. I do really enjoy this instrument and find I am playing this guitar more than any of my other guitars because of its convenience and playability.sconlan55
The guitar looked interesting so I figured Id give it a shot. Its well made and looks pretty cool but what niche does it fill? Its far from silent on its own. With Bose headphones it sounds nice. The ear buds they give you are crap but older iPhone buds are better. I wound up returning it because I couldnt quite figure out the purpose of having it. Very well made but I dont understand the point of having it.rsf81359
