Using Stereo Speakers For Guitar Amp For Sale (2024 Update)

I bought this for an upcoming camping trip and I am very happy with the tone and volume when using AmpliTube. I usually use an AXE-FX III through 4000w of FRFR speakers so I am really spoiled tone wise. I wasnt expecting much but at the price point it was worth a try and I must say I am quite pleased.galacticore

I didn't have huge hopes for this, but the second I turned it on the hissing white noise sound that came out made it clear that this amp was not for me. Even without anything plugged in and all of the knobs turned to zero, as much as I turned up the volume, that's how much noise I got. This DID not work at all for me with the Amplitube phone app, but did with the Amplitube computer app – with some significant drawbacks. The audio level was low, and when I turned it up to get some usable volume, that ever-present background noise just killed the tone. Sorry, but I cannot recommend this.B.G.

Where do I start? Well, how about, this is the best tube amp I have ever played! 62 years with many guitars and many amps, some owned, some borrowed, and some tested in music shops, might give me a little credibility. I have loved a Fender Twin Reverb, made in the 50s that my uncle Keith, and my guitar mentor, loaned me for a while. It just sounded so good. Never could seem to find cash, or justification to buy a tube amp, but have owned a hal a dozen solid states. THEN THIS LITTLE BEAUTY! Having played the Twin for a couple of years, and others such as a Mesa Boogie, VOX's, and too many others to recall, THIS monster sounds like most of them with just little tweaks of the knobs and my guitar switches. I have played country, 60s and 70s rock, blues, finger-style instrumentals, gospel, etc. I believe this is the PERFECT combo, with the correct (JJ) tubes, a sweet (and dirty when desired) Seventy/80 speaker, and an amazing diversity of sounds, which works in every genre I play! I do not know how anyone can find reason to bad mouth this. I had it for 2 weeks, was asked to fill an absent, guitarist's spot at an outdoor venue, I took this little amp. We played to an area the size of a football field. I set the amp on 1 Watt, until I could hear it cleanly (behind me on stage), let the sound man mic and mix me in. Never had to turn it above about 4, with gain between 1 and 4, and many complemented me on my sound, and musicians asked me WHAT IS THAT LITTLE AMP? Those are the good points. I can only think of two piddly things I would like to see changed, and one would be a standby switch, and the second being a way to run the external speaker WITHOUT cutting off the amp speaker. Until then, I will just keep playing this sweetheart amp, and enjoy the statements about "my sound," and the question of WHAT IS THAT LITTLE AMP? Keep playing everybody…and maybe buy one of these. These amps are fantastic, and at these bargain prices you simply can't go wrong. I upgraded the reverb tank in mine to a Mod and changed the speaker for a Warehouse GC12. OMG, this thing is a beast! Another WGS option I've seen people use is the ET65 for a more British tone, also with good results. The stock speaker is not too bad, but this one simple upgrade of swapping the speaker takes the amp to the next level. It just sounds awesome. The upgraded reverb tank is also an improvement, but not as much as I thought it would be. If I had to do it over again I would just take out the stock tank and use a pedal for reverb and make the amp even lighter to haul around. The more important upgrade imo is the speaker. It really makes a world of difference. Grab one reasonably while you still can, the price keeps creeping up and up and up… !Jeff

After a number of FEDEX issues, I received my amp about 5 days later than estimated. It did arrive in excellent condition and was worth the wait. The Stage Right 611815 has a really sweet tone that sounds particularly good with the single coil pickups on my Fender Sratocaster Player. It breaks up nicely! The reverb works perfectly, and is fine for most playing but you might want an external reverb unit if you are playing Dick Dale tunes. A really nice feature for home playing is the 15W/1W switch, where you can limit the amp to 1 W (be aware that with sound, you have to increase the wattage by 10 times to double the perceived volume, so the 1W setting is a lot more than 1/15th as loud as the 15W setting). It is a bit unusual to have a tone control along with the more common bass, middle and treble controls. Personally, I would have labeled the Tone control as Presence, because that is what it seems to be. I have mostly been playing in the 1W mode with all the controls (including reverb) at 12 o clock, and that is working out great. As far as construction, the amp looks fantastic and gives a vintage look that hints at its tone! The dark grill cloth provides a nice contrast with the blonde tolex, giving a true vintage appearance. The retro red, jeweled pilot light and metal toggle switch complement the vintage styling Keeping with the vintage look, the control panel is chrome with retro chicken head knobs. As others have mentioned, the control names are a little bit difficult to read on the chrome panel. After you use the controls once, you know where they are, so does it really matter (I noticed the blonde version of the Fender Blues Jr also uses a chrome control panel…probably where Monoprice got the idea)? The tolex is neatly installed and glued, at least the parts that are exposed. The leather handle is also reminiscent of old school amps. And I really like the metal corner protectors…very nice. As proudly announced by a badge on the front panel, the amp is equipped with a Celestion speaker…a Seventy 80 The only criticism of the construction, and it is minor, is that the 8 external screws are not chamfered properly to mesh with the finishing washers, which result in the screw heads protruding above the washers. The amp has a jack for an external speaker. When you plug in an external speaker, the internal speaker is shut off, as is common with guitar amps. The reason is if you plug in an external 8 ohm speaker and the internal speaker would still be on, a (combined) 4 ohm load would be presented to the amplifier, which it is not designed to handle. The back is open. The line cord is not detachable, but can be conveniently stowed in the back of the amp. The amp has an effects loop, which I have not tried yet. The amp is now equipped with JJ brand tubes and a metal, two spring, reverb tank, which are upgrades from the original issue I wish I could find a nice, economical (i.e. $20) dust cover for the amp. The only ones I can find are priced at $50 or more, a bit much for protecting an inexpensive amp. In conclusion, the Stage Right 611815 amp looks great and sounds great, and I highly recommend it.Chris

I had been looking at a new tube amp and had a couple different amps in mind. My local GC is rather small but on a recent trip to the Chicago area I stumbled across one of these in the wild. I played it for about 15 minutes and new I had to buy it. It sounds incredible. I really like how simple the clean channel is with just a volume control, but allows the true sound of the guitar to shine through. It loves single coils and has really nice breakup at higher volumes. The dirty channels exactly that but you can get everything from creamy overdrive to crunchy distortion. Even at the lower watt settings you have plenty of headroom. I'm a big fan of the twin 10in speakers and the tube buffered effects loop is a great addition. My only wish is that it would come with a foot pedal. Regardless, I could not be happier with this amp.Evan P

Using this amp primarily with a PRS McCarty 594 and it continues to amaze me more the longer I own with it… the natural channel is clear, bright and balanced. I can easily dial the overdrive to the distortion needed to cover Deep Purple, AC/DC stuff and dial it down for classic softer stuff like Allman Bros and. Fleetwood Mac. Haven't even begun to see everything that could be done with the effects loop… wah and delay pedals sound fantastic… very full with the double voice of the world stereo speakers. Both channels are plenty loud for gigging in smaller venues… even with drums. Effects loop in/out could be more accessible as they are tucked up inside the back… just a minor issue though. This amp is beefy, feels like it could take a beating . Weight is not bad considering it's a combo and I haven't had any trouble carrying it up and down stairs when I take it out. Very happy with this amp…. I feel like it's one of the best combos out there right now.John

Just picked this up new. I was swapping back an evh 5150 head and prs stealth 212 cab (god that thing was sweet), because it didn't take my helix line 6 very well in the 4 cable method. I was trying out a mesa solo rectifier 112 combo, a vox AC 30 and this amp. The cleans of an AC30 are my favorite of the three, and the mesa certainly had more chunk on the distortion channel than the other two (although that evh through the prs cab was simply another world better than any of these three amps). The rocker 32 however had a pretty nice clean sound, if inflexible (no tone control at all), and about as much drive as an or15(one of my favorite amps). You can get some serviceable metal tones, although I'm sure a speaker upgrade might do wonders for the tone of the amp. It's just extremely versatile and flexible, I prefer to get my gain from my amp, then maybe throw an 808 in front of the amp, I'm not a huge fan of distortion pedals. NOW onto why this amp was such a must have. This amp will make your effects sound studio quality. No more worrying about mixing in your effects loop or a dropoff in volume. Your delays will sound utterly pristine, without and kinda gunk added on in the fx loop. it will simply bring your effects to life, and the stereo effect really can add quite element to your live playing. The speakers need to be upgraded, but at a pricepoint of 1100, they had to cut corners somewhere on a 30 watt 2×10 amp. This might not be your go to amp for tone when recording, or an absolute thumper for live metal shows, but if you're an effect junkie, this is a loud enough, versatile enough amp that is a must have for you. I use a Marshall DSL20HR through a Blackstar cab with a Celestion Seventy 80 in it. I could only get a usable sound by turning the presence all the way down and the treble most of the way down. It was too ice-picky otherwise. I replaced the Seventy 80 with this Greenback, and what a difference. It warmed up the sound considerably without muddying it in the least.Bates

Overall this is my favorite Celestion speaker. I am running through a boutique Swart MOD 84 VOX inspired 15-watt amp and this speaker works perfectly! It sounds great clean with chimey and sparkling highs. Very articulate and touch sensitive. When overdriven it has the characteristic velvety smooth mids and tight bass. This is the sound of mid 60s through the 70s Rock and British Blues. AMS has great deals and payment plans to help musicians of all kinds. AMS shipped quickly. This is a great speaker. I have them in a 2×12 and use it with a Marshall JCM 800 50 W head and a Orange OR 15 head. The vintage tones are great. Really, off the map great. I see why Hendrix, ACDC, EVH and others rave about this speaker. I've experimented with lots of speakers, mixing different speakers and the Greenbacks give me a wow moment everytime. The cleans are crisp and clear. The distorted tone is vintage, very natural, and pure magic. Glorious! Sounds great with my les paul and strat — any guitar and any head. Best for classic rock vintage tones, blues, country or jazz. Metal players should look at something else. The only thing is they are rated 25W which can limit how you use it. Still, well worth the trade-0ff. If you like your amp but are struggling finding that tone we all search for, look at trying these speakers before you buy a new amp. The impact to your tone by adding these speakers is huge. This will upgrade any rig. Highly recommended.Ron

This is great. I bought the amp amp shim some month ago, and really liked it, but the press fit was a bit fiddly. This amp with just attaches firmly on the gpio header and plays perfectly out of the box. Sound quality is above expectations, so highly recommended.Henrik S

It's a lovely looking thing (screen is gorgeous) but the method chosen to connect speakers is unfortunately (for me at least) a disaster. Expanding a tiny hole to take the tinned wires took me about 30 minutes. Pressing down on the plastic meant I was deforming it and with each attempt it became harder and harder to get a usable gap. My strong suggestion is that a future revision uses small grub screws instead. I managed in the end but ended up taping the wires to minimise the risk of pulling them back out again.M B

This is a cool little everything-on-it HAT for simple, no-solder audio projects. Perfect for a mini radio – 3W per channel is more than enough most of the time. Personally, I would have preferred a couple more buttons (especially on GPIO3 for shutdown/wake-up) but I saw on a forum somewhere that this was to keep costs down and you could always add an OnOff shim. I'll just glue on an extra button, and add one to all my own PCBs. Anyway, apart from my wee rant, please don't hesitate – it's a super amp+button+display HAT to get your projects going!Michael C

This unit sounds great, works great and makes the workflow jump to the next level. I'm running 4 amps through it, 3 cabs and a UA OX and it's just made a world of difference. Switching is clean, I can't tell any tone changes, amps are protected if using properly, it's dead quiet, is simple to use and is very clear for what amp/cab you've selected. With my rig now, I feel similar to how it does with modelers with the benefit of the analog amps/tones I love. Change flavors and sounds on the fly and make decisions best for the moment without losing your creative flow. I highly recommend it.JMontoya

Nice little amp, nice sound, loud. However, the speaker is small. I would recommend holding it to about 1/2 power for it to last. If you want to crank it up to full 30 watts and whale away, I would find a heavier duty, bigger external speaker for that. It has a jack for that purpose. As an aside, it does not have the VAMP emblem as shown, no biggie…see photo, still a good looking amp! Also, as others have stated, no ser.# or date, but, I went on the Pyle site…legit, got the 1 year warranty without any problem. And minimal hum, no worse than any others…picture of those other amps incuded…we'll see it it lasts like those…I don't see any reason it shouldn't…will be used for guitar…and grandkids on vocals.nitty0

Good small amp the only problem with it is the speakers keep playing when you plug in the head phones so the jack is not that useful unless you want it just as a headphone amp.cmsnyderc

Very good and price effective little unit. I use it for two sets of two small ceiling mounted speakers and it powers all four from my MP3 collection on my PC just fine. the sound is clear and loud enough with enough tone and volume range for my tastes. If you are looking for an acoustic amp on a budget, look no further. The Acoustic A1000 is well made, sounds great and has the bells and epistles of a much more expensive amp. I have compared this to the Fender Acoustasonic 40 and there is no contest. I even play my Strat on a few songs in Channel 2 and use a Behringer DI to the PA. It doesnt sound like a Twin Reverb but it is also very acceptable. However, it makes my Martin GPCPA1 sound fantastic! I added a Boss Acoustic pre-amp pedal and the sound is so authentic! Cant beat the price at Guitar Center either. Do yourself a favor and try it out. It deserves recognition!!!!csman1951

I've had this amp for just about a year now and the sound of this amp is amazing. I originally went in to buy another brand (Fender Acoustasonic) but when I tried it out, I just didn't like the sound so I plugged into this model. Man, what I difference. Two inputs per channel, two channels, each with it's own effects bank. The effects sound great, and you can program up to 20 of your own presets. That takes a bit to understand how to do it though. I ended up buying the floor model since they didn't have any in stock, with a discount. When I got home, and after a few days of playing, I noticed a rattle that was coming from the head unit. I moved the amp to different rooms and tried different settings but it didn't clear it up. I brought it back to CG and they ordered me a new one, at the regular price of course. Had the new one within a few days. I've used it with the Bluetooth at an event and it worked flawlessly. Plenty of volume too. I've also recorded direct out to a Tascam recorder and it sounded great. The only thing I would've liked if it had a foot switch to turn off effects but that's about my only complaint. I even got a price match not long after I bought it when it went on sale. The auto-feedback killer is nice and it doesn't effect the tone, in my opinion. I play a Godin A6 Ultra and a Gibson J-180EC through it, both sound amazing.Freditor

This all-in-one acoustic guitar amp is a good fit for a singer-songwriter needing a reliable, portable rig to amplify voice and guitar in small & medium venues or small outdoor spaces (e.g., farmers markets). The amp has 2 separate channels, each with 2 inputs (accommodating either 1/4" instrument or XLR mic cables). Each of these channels has distinct dedicated EQ, FX, and line out (for recording or running to a bigger board). This is ideal for a single performer who wants to treat their voice and acoustic guitar separately (picture a reverb on voice, delay on guitar, separate EQ, and both running in dedicated lines to a recorder for live recording mixdown). But the additional two "passenger" inputs allow some flexibility for special guests or secondary instruments which can get their own level but piggyback on either channel 1/2 EQ/FX/output (e.g., a backup vocalist or keyboard). For many small venues hosting mostly solo/duo acoustic performers (coffee shops, farmers markets, etc.), this would be an adequate house PA, and would likely also suffice for open mic hosts in most situations. With 100W, this unit can project in mid-size venues or larger open air situations (music in the square, "gazebo series," etc), but would understandably not cover the requirements of a large club, theater, or festival stage. The sound quality is clear and easy to dial in. Good sound can be achieved with minimal effort and intuitive adjustment. For a unit of this size and power, it is comparatively lightweight, but obviously heavier (roughly 40lbs) than its smaller cousins. The wedge shape also can make it slightly awkward to carry at this size. Still, at the end of the day, this is something that one person can carry with one hand, and would fit pretty neatly in the back of a tour van.Cody

This little box is absolutely what I was looking for in a small practice amp. Amazingly loud and clear with excellent tone and sound from such a small package. I bought this thinking I'd probably just play through the headphones, but the speakers actually sound great at low to middle volume. You'll probably just leave the 'wide' setting on all the time like I do. Not sure how they do it, but it's a pretty cool trick how it expands the sound. The effects are fantastic as well. My favorite is the stereo chorus with a little overdrive, but the flanger and phazer are also awesome. Tons of preprogrammed options that let me sound any way I want even though it's such a small package. Bonus added with the Bluetooth ability. I can now play along with my favorite tunes because both the stream and my guitar can play through it simultaneously. Only thing I'm not crazy about is the look of the unit. My wife says it looks like a purse with the pretty colors and the big gold logo.jake1017

I really wanted to like this amp. Really I did! But unfortunately it fell way way short. It does NOT sound like 50w. In fact, Vox should be embarrassed to claim this is 50W. I typically play through a Fender Rumble 30(W) and the Vox was not half as loud on a side by side comparison (using P-bass). BIG strike 1. The Vox was well more than double the cost of my Fender Rumble 30. Strike 2. The Vox had no DI out nor an external speaker output. Strike three. If the Vox would have had a DI out or a Ext Speaker out, I probably would have kept it. The built in modeling were great, but just under powered. Instead the Vox enginers decided that a USB port was more important than a Ext Speaker out. Swing and a miss here. Again, I really wanted to like this amp, but it's destined to be just an overpriced practice amp. I guess I'll just stick with my Fender 30 W.ESharp Harp

Fantastic amp for the price! The clean channel is great, and has time delay effects that is unexpected for an amp in this range. The overdrive is excellent too, and you can control different frequencies as well. It also has two inputs for guitars, and a microphone input! So you can jam with friends and sing along. Overall: Overall: These speakers are an amazing value! They sounds just as good as any other FRFR speakers I've seen, and at the price, they're an absolute no-brainer. Designed for guitar multi-fx, but literally everything I've thrown at them sounds incredible. I've got two, and I run them in my backyard to play music. They are very loud, and have no problem filling a large space with sound.Features: They're a speaker in a box. Not a ton of features to be expected, although there are 2 volume-controllable XLR-1/4'' inputs, which is pretty nice. They've also got an output for daisy-chaining, but I have them running stereo, so I have no need for this.Quality: Pretty decent, especially for the price! The plastic casing seems sturdy enough to trust at gigs, although I haven't had the chance to yet. The metal grill is sturdy aswell, and has yet to dent, even after I've gotten my hands on a pair.Manufacturer Support: I've never had to contact the Manufacturer.Sound: Amazing! For a $300 speaker, these things really sound incredible. The day I got them, I literally sat there listening to my guitar's reverb tail off for what seemed like forever. Overall: I shopped for months comparing the Alto, Headrush, EV, and several other options. I actually purchased the Line 6 cabinet and was tremendously disappointed in it's output and tone. I tried a headrush 112 and absolutely loved it. People will say its really bassy but I prefer it, here's why. In the age of the new modelers taking over, some of us are still used to hearing that "amp like" air moving behind us and the headrush 12 makes me feel like there's still an amp on stage with me. Tip: if you have an issue with the bass, clean up your presets a tad: there are several ways to mitigate it (low cut on the amp models, low cut in the eq chain, low cut block in the chain, low cut on effects, and so on). Some will even say that adding low cut will screw your front-of-house sound, but thats not true either for the Helix, you just need to split your signal paths so that you can enjoy the speaker as a monitor and let the sound tech also do his job. I have used it all weekend as a monitor and also as my main stage amp, PLENTY of power. Im going to buy another just to run a stereo setup. Couldnt be happier. I do wish they made a speaker cover for it though.Johnathan

( DISCLAIMER) Let me start off by saying that maybe it was just my unit that I had, or that I possibly never figured out how to dial the modeler I was using properly. Everyone is different and perhaps the settings I was using was not correct for the cabinet's character. But that being said, I found this cabinet to be a total let down. I bought one of these to go with my Kemper because I wanted a budget friendly solution and I had heard great things about this unit over the web. I kept the Headrush for about 2 weeks before returning it. I never once got a usable sound out of it. It's built really well, and I like what they were going for, but the unit just sounds bad in my opinion. It's Way too bassy, all the clean sounds sound like they have a towel over the speaker, or it has a cold, and there's no way to get rid of it either by using the contour feature or through adjusting EQs through the modeler. The high gain sounds were the worst. It really lacked any real definition and it was hard to tell the difference between a 5150 profile, and a Plexi. IT also has a weird shrill sound out of it at louder gain volumes which was odd. The last thing that killed it for me was that it had an annoying hiss sound, which could of just been my unit but it was super unpleasant. To conclude. I can't recommend this unit out there to anyone. It's not a terrible unit, but I just feel like there are better options out there. IF you are on a really tight budget and can't afford anything else, its okay, but I would recommend getting the 108 model of this. It's a little smaller, but it has the same sound quality, plenty loud, it's cheaper, and I feel like that would be a better purchase. That way you wont be spending an extra $100 on this to see if you like it or not. If you can save up a little more cash I would HIGHLY!! recommend the Laney LFR 112 Powered Cab. It's a much better cabinet, and is in that same more budget friendly price range, and just sounds fantastic!ToneMage

I have always wanted a stereo amp but they were crazy heavy and expensive. After getting my HX Stomp I had to have a stereo amp so I figured why not keep it in the fmaily? This amp is great for my aoustic and my electric guitars. The stereo effect is HUGE. I have a room full of classic amps but I'm starting to wonder why when the PC 212 can sound like all of the…times 2! Also, I don't have to worry about tubes. If you want a big sound this is it. It is a little large but I can carry it one handed and I'm not a kid. I love this thing.BillyHell

I really wanted to love this cab. All the reviews are stellar but yet the forums have rumblings of some folks complaining that they sound like they have a blanket over them. Unfortunately I now fall into the latter category. This cab is inherently dark and has no "air" even with a post amp EQ. I've been using modeling since the POD Bean so I know how to achieve a good tone with them, but for some reason this one isn't letting me. Perhaps I just got a dud. I may just get another Laney FR112 and use them for stereo. For the positives, the cab is sturdy and the enhanced stereo imaging is really cool. I don't know how useful it would be live, but it does a great job. It's also plenty loud enough to keep up with just about any drummer/bass player. I love Line6 and will continue to support and buy their products, but this one just isn't for me.AJB
