I have never offered a product review for any product but I had to make an exception for this one. I am 69 years old, have been playing music for over 50 years, and I have just begun learning the harmonica. This amp is perfect for me for a number of reasons. First of all, it's portable. I can take it anywhere – from my living room – to that picnic table at the park – to my guitar player's front porch. I've had it for a while and I'm still on the batteries that came with it. (You can get an optional power supply for it if you want.) Second – it sounds great and has plenty of volume for personal practice and for use in small settings. With the GAIN and VOLUME controls, you can easily get the response you want. The EQ control only makes a subtle difference in frequency response but nothing dramatic. The DELAY function, however, is very effective and fun to use. Next – a variety of additional input and output jacks make it very flexible. I can plug in my MP3 player and play along with a backing track, for example. It also has a headphone jack, an extension speaker jack, and a DC power jack. Finally – and most importantly – It's fun to use and, because of that, I find myself practicing longer and enjoying it more. I'm new at holding a mic and at first it felt awkward. Now, because the FLY 3W is so much fun to use, holding the mic has become second nature. OK – now you're waiting for the downside. Well, other than the EQ control comments I made earlier, I don't have any. At first, I thought it could benefit from a handle but, upon closer inspection, I discovered the recessed finger grip on the top of the case. (Very clever Blackstar.) This is a well designed portable practice amp. (It even looks aesthetically pleasing.)Bill
First things first; this combo pack DOES include the power supply but batteries are NOT included in the combo pack. Despite the great reviews, don't expect this to sound like a full-size amp; the small speaker mean this amp lacks low end. The pair does sound OK playing in stereo music through the aux input; good detail and sound quality except for the missing bass. As a practice amp, especially through headphones, this thing rocks; with the ISF control you can make it sound like a Fender or a Marshall Amp. Cleans are good but the high gain channel can sound a bit messy if you crank it to 11. The amplifier is more than loud enough for home practice even without doubling the power to 6 watts by adding the second speaker. I don't own a full-size electric amp but I've found out that running the cab-simulated headphone output into my acoustic amp's aux input gives an excellent equivalent so I probably won't bother with a 'real' electric guitar amp; this setup sounds sooo good.Dave W
I was very pleasantly surprised and the range of EQ and the control of compression the Fly 3Bass gives me, not only a great practice amp but mic it up through a PA and it sounds amazing. Great running on batteries (last about 12 hours) or mains. I did a back garden set with couple of friends on acoustic guitars me on electric bass via Fly 3 and it sounded really good so i am very pleased with my purchase. Only thing i had to do was back off tone and bass enhancer on my active bass as it slightly overpowered the amp but i get that on my stage rig as well so expected that.Barry J.

Just got this Vox Amplug2 in the mail. Brought it in, unboxed it, tore open the package, oh nice-comes with batteries! Stuck them in. Got my 5string, my phone, an aux cord, and headphones. Plugged everything up, turn on the little amp, turn up the volume, punch up a song on YouTube, adjust volumes to suit. I've been playing with Willie Dixon and Black Sabbath all night now 🙂 I've turned all the little knobs. Tone is basic, down is thick, up is brighter. Tried the drums, very cool, but i haven't gone through the different settings, just the first couple drum sounds. I'm happy with it. But for the past three hours I've just had everything on the amp all the way up, and adjust tone and volume on the guitar, then adjust the aux volume on the phone. Works just fine. Perfect for practice and unbeatable for the price. Be a bit careful with it, the plastic won't take a lot of abuse, but it's plenty durable to sit on the chair and practice.
I've been looking for a way to practice without having the hassle of amplifiers. I've always practiced my electric bass unamplified. I considered an acoustic bass but ultimately decided on this product. It works great for practice. Some other reviews complained about noise. There is some noise, but not enough to keep me from practicing. I wouldn't record with it, but hey, it runs on 2 AAA batteries, what do you expect? I have been very excited with this wee amplifier. It plugs directly into the bass' output jack. There are dial-controlled volume and tone controls which work perfectly and provide well-designed volume and tone sweeps The sound has 3 press-button activated gain levels, and a small colored light which changes color to show which is switched on. Two options, with orange or red colors in the single lamp, are quite low in volume (too low I think) but the third, when the green light is on is excellent, potent with a bit of growl – think Jack Casady, I say! There is an output jack for headphones – plenty of volume available – and an input jack to run, for example, an iPad into the Vox. So, you can privately play along with any music you have stored on an iPad! Powered by 2 AAA batteries, which come with it. Absolutely amazing device. A beginner can buy a bass, use this amp without even needing to purchase a guitar cable, and be ready to begin. The "headphone" output can be plugged into an amplifier's auxiliary socket (my small Ampeg amps are wired to "center" a stereo input signal) or a home sound system using a mini-plug- to- 1/4" stereo converter jack and perhaps a mini-plug-ended extension cable, sold everywhere in various lengths. So one could practice and have the combined sound of iPad and one's instrument sent to an amp. Sound: I bought the Ampeg Microvr Head originaly with one Ampeg 2-10" cabinet as a part of matched set, as most people do – about three months a later I bought another cabinet – so now I'm often running two of the same cabinets and the head together. When you plug in the second cabinet the rig gets noticeably louder in this set up, and also appears to have a much more deeper bass tone(if you want it). Adding the second cabinet added $300 to my rig – but if you can afford it, the sound is far superior to just the single cabinet, and gives you a lot of flexiblity. For smaller indoor venues like playing bass behind people with pugged in acoustic guitars, I run the head with just one cabinet and it sounds fine – both tone and volume wise. When I playing along with a drummer most of the time I opt for using two cabinets rather than just one. At higher volumes – like playing with a drummer it just sound stronger and fuller in every respect than by using just the single 2 10" cabinet. I'm either running a recent custom C.F. Martin Acoustic/ Electric Bass guitar, or a Fender Precession Bass, through the rig – depending on who and what I'm playing on music wise. It works excellent with either instrument and I am very happy with the set up. Even with just one cabinet you won't be dissapointed. Features: Happy with everything that it came with feature wise. Didn't like the stock power cord that came with because it was very stiff and hard to wind up – Ampeg should switch vendors and get a power cord supllier that could offer them a more felxible cord of the same quality that you cound wind up easier. Ease of Use: Tone controls are easy to figure out and use. Rear connections on the amp are simple, straight forward and easy to use, and hook things up. I often use a Martin acoustic bass guitar with this rig – so I use a Fishman DI preamp in between my bass and the amp – this being done basically to help control feedback at higher volumes (especially when playing out door gigs) and to fine tune the tone on the acoustic bass a bit more. My Fender bass sounds fine with out the Fishman preamp and the controls on the amp head work well with it – giving you many mutiple tone combinations depending on how you set them. Also my Fender fretless bass sounds really good through the amp and the matched speaker that you will most likely buy with the head. Quality: Quality seems very high. After about two years of owning and active giging – it is holding up extremely well. Over the last year or so I have taken it out on local gigs about twice a week, So it's been out of my house more than a hundred times so far, and there haven't been any issues so far – all this in all kinds of weather and temperatures. I had black vinyl covers made for the head (from a custom amp cover innernet company)and for both speaker cabinets as soon as I bought everything – so even aften trucking the units all over the place for quite awhile now they still all look fresh and brand new. The power cord that came with it was very stiff and always hard to roll up – so I bought an after market cord on a website cord supplier that was more flexible and easier to wind up. I've used the after market power cord every since. The head has a fan in the back that runs whever the unit is powered up, that when you first get the amp drives you crazy – because it appears to sound so loud. Truth is though while you may hear it running in your house when practing – you never do at gigs. At any gig the room and enviroment background noise easily drown it out right away – you just never hear the fan running at all. When I first got it I though something was wrong with the fan – there wasn't. Its an Ampeg thing – that is the low fan noise in a quiet background setting. Keeps everything cool inside the head – so you can certainly live with it. I got used to it after awhile and don't even notice it anymore. No one has ever commented to me anywhere about any fan noise coming from my amp. So don't think something is wrong with the fan when you first get the head. Value: The original outlay (about $600 for the head and one matching cabinet) is a bit steep compared to several other small bass amps on the market out there – but you get what you pay for I guess. Due to the price saddly – alot of bass players might not be able to buy one and will go with something cheaper out there. Before buying this I looked around for about two months at other rigs on the innernet, at music stores, and at othet musicians' bass rigs when watching them perform. This unit was replacing a Hartke Kickback 12 – which I used for about three years for the same type of smaller gigs – which is for more low volume type of dealsthat I play at – where you don't have to worry about shaking the room and making the paint peel of the walls when you hit your low E string on something like Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac". Sound: I own the Microvr amp and 2 210svtav cabs. I bought the second cab after I got the Mircovr set up. The sound sound you get from this things for the money blows anything else out their out of the water. To get the rated 200watts performance you need a 2nd cab as the load with one cab is 8 ohms at 150 watts. Light weight portability and small footprint size are a plus especially if your space chanllenged. This thing rocks. Features: This is a no frills set up. Has what you need to have great sound with a headphone jack to play practice in a low noise enviroment. Ease of Use: It has a 3 band eq section that you can dial in easy to find a sound you like. Its no svtpro 7 but for the money you will not find a better amp in its class. Quality: This amp is made solid. Mimics the old school look of the 70s svt lineup. After 40 years as a guitar player, I just started to learn the Bass guitar. I love it. I needed a small amp to practice with during times I needed a more quiet practice session and read about this in Bass Player. For a small 2w amp this is amazing. The sound quality is amazing, warm and rich, not brittle and harsh like some small amps in this price range. It does get picky about pickups and likes some pick up systems better then others. for passive and piezeo systems it dials in easy and quick with full rich bass sounds, on some of my pre amp basses though it got quirky depending on the way the bass was set up and the controls set on the bass, so you will need to take the time to dial it in like any other amp. Great little piece of kit though not without a minor flaw. Play4 string bass in regular tuning? It deals with this with no hassle at all and has a clarity and smoothness that you wouldn't expect from a 3w amplifier with a 3" speaker! The only thing I could find to say something negative about it is that it really struggles to deal with a detuned 5 string low G, that said, it's a 3w amp and a 3" speaker, it's asking a lot of many full size rigs to deal with those kind of notes flawlessly! Pros: Surprisingly good bass response for such a small speaker (including on the low B of a 5-string). At 50-60% volume, it can keep up with a drummer and several unplugged acoustic guitars. Cons: the tone's OK, but not as good as what you'd get from a regular amp. It's better at lower volumes and gets grainy if you turn up the volume up past 80% or so. Really good amp for practice. Plenty loud enough for me as someone who is primarily a guitar player, but also plays bass now and then. I was surprised by how good it sounds for just an 8" speaker. Its a sealed back design, but there's no port. Too bad. I think a port in front would make it almost perfect. I removed the back panel and use it open-back. At modest volumes it doesn't really seem to affect the sound much. With the back on and the cab sealed, there was air whizzing out of the tiny gap in front between the speaker baffle and the electronics chassis. Otherwise, its all good.topa303515
This amp comes with a single "Middle" knob (not separate "mid-low" and "mid-high" knobs). This amp does not have a line out, and it does not have dual inputs like the photo. Why is the product so different from the photo? Why are you not showing the consumer what they are really buying and instead displaying a misrepresentation … an old photo of a an amp with more features? I bought this amp to use in a limited space and at a low volume for very low cost. It obviously doesn't compare to a normal size amp in quality but for being a practice amp it is perfect. Many reviews across the web say it loses power or sounds bad after a short time, but its literally as simple as changing the battery in my case. The manual even says to change the battery if there is an issue with sound, and the battery that comes with it isn't really the best and doesn't last long. It has great sound at a low and mid range volume for the little power it actually has but when you ramp it up it does sound a little distorted but not bad at all for $23-$29. mini-amp works great as a travel amp, or playing early in the am when ppl are sleeping lol it fits perfectly inside my hardcase, along with my electric guitar, headphones, tuner, cables, etc. performs as expected.. dont look to be amazed at its performance lol but for practice/travel its the perfect amp. has a heavy grind for chunky metal riffs. doesnt pick up the p[inch harmonics that great, but they do come through. the clean setting is great, too, and for a tiny little fkr it really kicks pretty good! had my finacee yelling at me to "turn that fkn thing down!" so, lol, it hits pretty hard for a small little guy.. but like i said, dont expect it to put out the tones of a line 6 spider IV or a Marsall half-stack cuz it aint capable for that. it isnt designed for gigs lol so dont expect that kinda sound. but, i love this mini-amp; its my new best friend!da.davc.mcoumykeiu

I purchased This Gnome for my 110 Custom SSB studio cab to help keep the load light, I love it! It has a smaller footprint than my Stomplab2b and has more than enough headroom. The cab is loaded with an eminence b102 8 ohm. So I'm getting about 120watts from it and it's plenty to jam at home with or in a Practice Session/studio time.Isaac
Just been using it in my house. I have a Hardke Hy-Drive 12 inch cab and it sounds great.I have not played with a drummer yet so I cant say how it holds up to gig levels of sound. It feels like it will be fine. I bought it mainly to go direct to computer and to have a small amp for portability. I wish these were available back in the eighties when I turned pro. I was impressed from the moment I hooked this small tabletop amp up. It’s got big sound for such a small package. The app is decent too, but could use some more songs to jam with. I think that overall this is a fun way to work on your music late at night or when the mood and inspiration hits. It’s loud, but not so much as it would bug any neighbors or house guests. Um im Wohnzimmer auf der Couch ein wenig zu klimpern ist dieser Amp geradezu genial . Vom Gewicht her sehr leicht und auch von der Größe ist es ideal den Amp direkt neben sich zu haben . Der Clean-Sound kann richtig laut sein ohne zu zerren . Mit dem Overdrive Regler kann man schon recht schöne Crunch-Sounds erreichen . Ist natürlich nicht vergleichbar mit einem großen Röhrenverstärker , aber das darf man bei einem Preis von unter 50 € auch nicht erwarten . Mit externen Effekt Geräten die man zwischen Gitarre und Amp hängt kann man noch viel mehr Sounds rausholen . Ist alles möglich . Als Übungs-Amp für zu Hause ideal .

Sound: If you're coming in looking for a distinctive amp character sound… this ain't it. This is for clean headroom that allows you to sculpt your sound with pedals if you need to or with modeling… or for seriously hearing what your bass actually sounds like. For me personally, I've really come to enjoy it (and I lusted after the SVT grit sound forever) and I can't believe this does good of a job for the price. Features: The power section on this is just unreal – I'm sure the wattage measure for volume is probably a little relative (then again, so is 1-10 or 11, right?), but I don't ever take it much over the "40W" marker going into a 2 x 12 cab (yeah, you read that right) and I've never had a problem keeping up with two guitarists and a drummer, either on stage or in our practice space. The EQ is a little weird if you're coming from a low/mid/high setup like just about every piece of equipment out there has, but it honestly ends up being more intuitive for adjusting to a room or different bass in front of it. I took a gamble on the line out, which I understand isn't "true DI" in the sense that it isn't an independent signal from the rest of the amp (so if you mess with EQ or volume, your FOH has to adjust on their end), but in the end I ended up pairing this with an MXR Bass DI+ for a FOH signal and to get another distortion sound, so it sort of renders that point moot. I also wish they'd put 2 Speakon jacks instead of 1 Speakon and 2 1/4" outs, but not the end of the world for me. Ease of Use: I think the biggest learning curve on this is the EQ, but as I mentioned, once you understand it, it makes much more sense than your standard 3-band. Quality: For as light as it is, it feels like a tank! The only thing I'd even be a little nervous about is the small mute switch – which just feels light because, well, it's a tiny plastic switch that you just tap, no need for a big ol' mechanical clunker, right? And as silly as it seems, just the basic case is still a great touch. Value: I was very much on the fence between this and the Mesa/Boogie Subway series, and I think if they had been the same price (and both available from zZounds with pay as you play) I would have probably ended up going with the Mesa ONLY because of the name… but I don't at all regret going with this instead. It's done everything I've asked of it. Manufacturer Support: Haven't had to deal with them directly but a big reason I purchased was that it seems like they're extremely good about direct support (including from Pat himself!) The Wow Factor: Would this blow me away as a gotta-have if I had the funds and the means? I mean, tonally, no – alone, it's not tickling my ears, but it does rumble the rump in a rather pleasing way (hey, this is a safe space, don't judge my kinks.) But as someone who needed (fine, WANTED) a physically-smaller bass amp that did the job so I could keep spending my money on rebuilding crappy guitars instead, this 100% does the trick. Overall: I'm not a bassist, I'm a guitarist who just plays one on stage. One of my favorite amps and amp concepts was the Crate Powerblock (which I still use as a travel/audition amp sometimes) – and the Bass Block is what happens if you make the Powerblock 1000 times better an at least 5.33333333 times louder (that's science, baby, I wouldn't lie to you.) Simply put – if you want stellar, clean power that you can put just about anything in front of but also carry around IN A BACKPACK, this is where it's at.Matthew
This amp is a real winner. The power, as with many Class D amps isn't quite as much as the stated wattage, but it is loud and punchy. The amount of grind and kick may seem restrained because I am playing an upright, though I did test her with one of my 5 string electrics with a larger speaker cabinet, and I ran more pre gain on that run. With the upright, all knobs are at 12 0'clock, because uprights love flat sound waves. It is set up to do a great job as a double threat if I ever go back to gigs that require both upright and electric. She's gigged with me a few times and seems to have an intuitive set up with the Active and Passive inputs, Mute button, and the Depth and Contour knobs. I enjoy playing around with my electric because in conjunction with the throttling up or down of Master Volume vs. Gain and varying EQ via Depth and Contour knobs allows for a lot of very handy tone colouring.bill
I have a mixed review. I originally bought this amp because of the great reputation QSC products have had over the years under Pat Quilter's leadership – well-designed, highly-regarded products at a reasonable price, especially in the amplifier category. In the months I've used the Bass Block, it's been reliable and works without strain when I connect two cabinets, one at 4 Ohm and one at 8. That's a load of at least 2.67 Ohm, which is impressive. It never heats up, never shuts down. Bottom line: this amp has been bulletproof. The amp is light – about 15 pounds lighter than the class AB amp Eden Highwayman 500 I'd been using. Before purchasing, I spoke with Pat at the Quilter booth at the 2019 NAMM Show. He explained the tone controls, which are quite different than the usual 4-band passive or semi-parametrics you find on other units. In over 20 gigs with a number of different cab configurations with and without horn tweeters, and both active and passive basses, it has been a challenge to get the tone I need from this amp – it seems skewed toward a bassy/midrangey tone with no ability to juice up the treble. (I play classic rock in a club band, use my fingers mostly, and a pick on a few tunes) For example, when I play my Rick 4003, I can only get that clanky Rick tone if I bypass the amp's preamp section and use an outboard preamp that has more traditional tone controls. With that said, the roundish tones I can get from this unit are good; I'm just disappointed that either the unit is unable to provide the treble definition I want, or I'm unable to figure out how to get it with this amp. On the industrial design side: the amp chassis feels one step from finished – sharp folded edges stick out (versus, say, the smooth packaging you find in a GK or Genzler head.) From a marketing perspective, I wouldn't have applied the graphic of a caution sign (red stripes) to the top of the amp, and the word "block" in the product name, think "verb.Countbassy

I have never offered a product review for any product but I had to make an exception for this one. I am 69 years old, have been playing music for over 50 years, and I have just begun learning the harmonica. This amp is perfect for me for a number of reasons. First of all, it's portable. I can take it anywhere – from my living room – to that picnic table at the park – to my guitar player's front porch. I've had it for a while and I'm still on the batteries that came with it. (You can get an optional power supply for it if you want.) Second – it sounds great and has plenty of volume for personal practice and for use in small settings. With the GAIN and VOLUME controls, you can easily get the response you want. The EQ control only makes a subtle difference in frequency response but nothing dramatic. The DELAY function, however, is very effective and fun to use. Next – a variety of additional input and output jacks make it very flexible. I can plug in my MP3 player and play along with a backing track, for example. It also has a headphone jack, an extension speaker jack, and a DC power jack. Finally – and most importantly – It's fun to use and, because of that, I find myself practicing longer and enjoying it more. I'm new at holding a mic and at first it felt awkward. Now, because the FLY 3W is so much fun to use, holding the mic has become second nature. OK – now you're waiting for the downside. Well, other than the EQ control comments I made earlier, I don't have any. At first, I thought it could benefit from a handle but, upon closer inspection, I discovered the recessed finger grip on the top of the case. (Very clever Blackstar.) This is a well designed portable practice amp. (It even looks aesthetically pleasing.)Bill
First things first; this combo pack DOES include the power supply but batteries are NOT included in the combo pack. Despite the great reviews, don't expect this to sound like a full-size amp; the small speaker mean this amp lacks low end. The pair does sound OK playing in stereo music through the aux input; good detail and sound quality except for the missing bass. As a practice amp, especially through headphones, this thing rocks; with the ISF control you can make it sound like a Fender or a Marshall Amp. Cleans are good but the high gain channel can sound a bit messy if you crank it to 11. The amplifier is more than loud enough for home practice even without doubling the power to 6 watts by adding the second speaker. I don't own a full-size electric amp but I've found out that running the cab-simulated headphone output into my acoustic amp's aux input gives an excellent equivalent so I probably won't bother with a 'real' electric guitar amp; this setup sounds sooo good.Dave W
I was very pleasantly surprised and the range of EQ and the control of compression the Fly 3Bass gives me, not only a great practice amp but mic it up through a PA and it sounds amazing. Great running on batteries (last about 12 hours) or mains. I did a back garden set with couple of friends on acoustic guitars me on electric bass via Fly 3 and it sounded really good so i am very pleased with my purchase. Only thing i had to do was back off tone and bass enhancer on my active bass as it slightly overpowered the amp but i get that on my stage rig as well so expected that.Barry J.

Got this on sale. Best practice combo thus far. I didn't even try it out since I've had other practice amps (Peavey, Crate) before and feared I'd just suffer with poor sound. Not so with this one. Tone is amazing. Hit's fundamental E string with no issues. Won't shake your room but tone is really solid. I tested using a spectrum analyzer (just for fun) and the crazy little 8 hits the lows no problem and with nice flat harmonics too. Remarkably loud. Have not tested but assume this could be used in a small room. I've been running the EQ's on flat. Dunno, maybe the technology has caught up with itself – better Xmax on the speaker, switcher power supplies, anyway, this is a great deal for a small combo and I'm redeemed from all the hard cone, no bottom end amp I suffered with back in the day..John
I got this amp to play along with Christian songs on You Tube. It has a very clean and clear sound to it. I once had a Fender 40-watt guitar amp that was quite louder than this amp, so don't expect it to blow you out of the room. It does what I want it to, and I can hear it well enough when playing along with the music. I bought a B25C when my main amp had to go into the shop for repair. I had been considering getting a smaller amp for practice or playing with a friend who does acoustic music. I compared this with the Fender Rumble 25. What sold me on the Acoustic is the wedge shape and the flexible tone options. Both amps sounded great, but the B25C had a wider range of tones. The 25 watts is perfect for practice and it has enough body to sound like a bigger amp. You can't beat it for the price.G.W

I was really surprised at how good this amp sounds. Years ago I tried Line 6 and was not at all happy with the tone; but this is another story. It does take me awhile to dial in a specific classic rock tone, but when I do, it sounds better than any other amp that I've tried. I have tried the Marshall Code, Blackstar id Core, Vox Valvetronix, Boss Katana; as well as some all tube amps. The only other amp that is a close 2nd is the Fender Mustang GTX; also a great amp. The Spider V is fairly easy to operate. It offers lots of choices for amp models and cabinets. I like that it has variations of a mic'd cabinet. The parametric eq is a plus. I haven't played around too much with the effects yet, so I can't comment on that. The only negative thing I could say is that when you're editing a preset and want to hear how it sounds before you save it, you only have a short time before it goes back to the Home Screen. This really is a small price to pay for the quality of the amp and all the versatility it has. I like the App too. Musicians Friend got me a great on this as well; and their agent is following up making sure that I'm satisfied. The funny thing is that I came across this by accident. I placed an order for a Peavey amp that was on back order. I called Peavey multiple times, but they never returned my call. I also emailed them, but they didn't respond to that either. As far as I'm concerned, Peavey doesn't have any customer support.crrkr

The things I like- Lots of presets, mobile app functions, computer interface, and loads of user created effects available. Nice and loud, but no real basis of comparison to say if clarity is better or worse than other comparable amps. Don't likes- The micro-usb interface. I had to get an adapter and it's just not as good a connection as nearly anything else would be. IMHO, micro-usb is far too flimsy. Connecting to PC is far more problematic than just using the spider mobile app. It's probably a little more complicated than it should be for a beginner, but it's feature rich for the money.Nic T
I had a Line 6 120w amp for years that I regrettably sold a while ago and was looking for another amp. I looked at all the amp reviews I could find and decided that the new Katana was the way to go. I got the Katana home and absolutely loved it but the second day I had it it started a really loud buzzing that I couldn't stop. It probably was an easy fix but the fact is the amp was way too powerful for my purposes and their software wasn't compatible with the new Catalina OS. I returned and started looking again. I saw the 60w Spider V and the price was excellent so I made an on the spot decision to buy another Line 6 and I'm really glad I did. The tones this amp can get are incredible. There are so many amp models and cabs that you can dial in pretty much any tone you want from a crispy snapback country clean to the most vicious heavy metal and everything in between. You can use the presets as they are or you can use them as a baseline and tweak to your own liking or you can start from scratch and build your own rig from the ground up. The controls are intuitive and easy to use but there are some features where you'd have to be a professional to really know how to use or even care to use. The software and the mobile app are so easy to use and give you all the options at your fingertips. The amp comes with a lot of presets that I find are completely useless but there are a lot that are excellent as I already talked about. There are only four empty slots for your own custom presets and I wish there were more but if you use the mobile app you can have your own tone library on there. I bought the FBV3 foot controller so that gives me a lot of flexibility to have various effects. One of the limitations is the lack of good effects though. There's enough that if you work at it you can get a decent sound but there could be some better ones. Overall I would recommend the amp. Don't listen to the naysayers or the amp snobs, it's a quality amp and extremely versatile.Just Plain Joe

I use one of these for my nylon string Godin Multiac. I blend the nylon with a GR33 synth and run both signals into this amp on the clean channel. The issue I've always had with amplified nylon string guitars is the 'plucky' or 'plasticy' sound of them through guitar amps. This bass amp solved the problem for me. With the amp's treble and bass rolled off completely I can get a very round clear tone by using the guitar's eq to provide the brightness. Very light and powerful, and an unexpected solution to a long-standing problem I've experienced. The electric violinist in the band tried his setup through my amp with almost identical settings and he bought one also! Works very well for bass also, in a small setting.Jan-Mikael
TLDR: BUY IT! I ordered this amp when I bought my very first bass. For years I was stuck with a school Ampeg Little Stud bass from 1973. The bass itself was 40 pounds, and for all of its vintage appeal, I was not impressed by its condition or playability. The amp was even worse. It was a Backline 112 that weighed 50 pounds, and when I performed with it in a school gymnasium with a capacity of a mere 400 people, nobody heard me playing. When I bought my bass I knew that I needed a new amp. Enter the Rumble 100. If this is your first amp, you might think this is a little pricey, but trust me, it is beyond worth it. I'm only 5'1", and while I could carry the heavy Ampeg bass and amp, it was starting to hurt my back. But this amp is incredibly light. I almost expected it to have zero bottom end. But when I played it, I was shocked. The sound was very well-supported, even if it's played with the bass, low, and mid down and treble all the way up (which I wouldn't recommend… I mean, it's a bass amp…) I've loved this amp ever since. But I'm not a "pro" yet, so let me tell you what some professional musicians thought when they saw my amp. I performed with a popular local brass band that has been together since 1980. Altogether they have 50+ years of touring and gigging experience. They're used to lugging some pretty heavy equipment. When I walked in to the auditorium, I had my bass case slung over my shoulder, my amp in my hands, and all my music nestled under my arm. Of course the stage crew at the door all thought that the tiny chick (me) was about to drop everything, so they rushed over to help me by picking up my amp. They went, "What? We're wondering where the inside went, Is this it?" They thought it would sound awful. But that night, in front of 2,000 people (and there was a bass solo), everybody said they could hear me perfectly. Like the rest of the bass players out there I've used all of the major brands. From old-school Acoustic Control heads and cabs from the '70's, to Ampegs etc etc etc…Well I've reached the point where that level of stage volume isn't needed for what I'm doing now; I shopped around, and despite some of the amazing combos available, I landed on this one. Actually the guitar player in our band mentioned that he had bought the 50watt version of this. I played through it and was impressed. For me it's the ideal unit for what I'm doing now – I still play some heavy rock (Mountain, Cream, Cactus, Trower), but when volume is required we of course use the FOH and good monitors for stage support. Having the onboard direct out is the best as it allows me to go direct into whatever board is being used, whether live or recording. Don't be fooled by the small size; the size is a real asset in terms of portability. The head is where it all starts, and the tonal range is wide so you can dial in your sound. In a live situation there's plenty of lows, highs and depth of tone. Playing in various size venues is no problem – this will carry without going through FOH in churches, smaller bars & clubs (50-100 capacity). Larger venues or live situations where stage volume is needed for impact or performance, then my personal recommendation is to use this as a personal monitoring device and go through the PA & stage monitor as a direct through the board. One last thing; the amp sounds as good on 3 as it does on 7. Any more than than 7 and it starts pushing the speaker, and not in a good way. But I've had this for several months now, use it gigging and recording regularly and overall am simply satisfied with the purchase. Like everything, this amp has limitations. You're not going to get the punch or volume of a high powered rig, and you really shouldn't be using a combo for something like that. But whether you're a beginner, novice, or weekend warrior or pro this amp, as well as the rest of this product line, is a tremendous option.jb

I bought this amp to have a small, cheap portable amp to play harmonica through. For that, it is decent enough. I use a Shure bullet mic and the amp produces good enough tone and is plenty loud for practice or small gigs. When I plug my tele into it the clean channel is decent and clear, but the overdrive channel is junk and hurts my ears. I would rather run the clean channel and use a fuzz or distortion pedal. So that being said it is decent enough to practice licks on and it is tiny so it tucks away easy. If you look around you can find a bigger amp with more features used for the same price but if you want a new amp, this one is probably worth what they charge for it. I would only buy it if you have a specific purpose for it though.Roy
It's small, and pretty portable. However, the sound quality is trash, given the speaker is tiny, but the overdrive is just horrible. If you buy this, try returning it. If you can't return it, just get a fuzz pedal and leave it on clean. Imo, just buy the mustang lt25-50Hotdog Games
I actually bought it 4 years ago, but realized I never wrote a review. It's surprising how light it is, almost felt like a toy. That being said, it's sturdily built, just very, very lightweight which is quite nice. I do mostly clean channel playing, not really much into heavy rocking much anymore. For clean channel playing, this little amp has a great sound. It puts out quite a bit of volume. I have used it playing for church and was more than enough volume to be heard with folks singing. The distortion is just okay, which is what kept me from giving the amp a 5-star review. But, most folks who want to rock out, probably aren't going for a 10-watt amp anyway. The distortion is decent enough for use in practice or playing along to your own music collection.

Just got this Vox Amplug2 in the mail. Brought it in, unboxed it, tore open the package, oh nice-comes with batteries! Stuck them in. Got my 5string, my phone, an aux cord, and headphones. Plugged everything up, turn on the little amp, turn up the volume, punch up a song on YouTube, adjust volumes to suit. I've been playing with Willie Dixon and Black Sabbath all night now 🙂 I've turned all the little knobs. Tone is basic, down is thick, up is brighter. Tried the drums, very cool, but i haven't gone through the different settings, just the first couple drum sounds. I'm happy with it. But for the past three hours I've just had everything on the amp all the way up, and adjust tone and volume on the guitar, then adjust the aux volume on the phone. Works just fine. Perfect for practice and unbeatable for the price. Be a bit careful with it, the plastic won't take a lot of abuse, but it's plenty durable to sit on the chair and practice.
I've been looking for a way to practice without having the hassle of amplifiers. I've always practiced my electric bass unamplified. I considered an acoustic bass but ultimately decided on this product. It works great for practice. Some other reviews complained about noise. There is some noise, but not enough to keep me from practicing. I wouldn't record with it, but hey, it runs on 2 AAA batteries, what do you expect? For the money I'd expect it to be made of better plastic. The case has a somewhat lightweight and textured feel. It would also be nice if it was Bluetooth capable for aux/headphone connections.Pete
I have been very excited with this wee amplifier. It plugs directly into the bass' output jack. There are dial-controlled volume and tone controls which work perfectly and provide well-designed volume and tone sweeps The sound has 3 press-button activated gain levels, and a small colored light which changes color to show which is switched on. Two options, with orange or red colors in the single lamp, are quite low in volume (too low I think) but the third, when the green light is on is excellent, potent with a bit of growl – think Jack Casady, I say! There is an output jack for headphones – plenty of volume available – and an input jack to run, for example, an iPad into the Vox. So, you can privately play along with any music you have stored on an iPad! Powered by 2 AAA batteries, which come with it. Absolutely amazing device. A beginner can buy a bass, use this amp without even needing to purchase a guitar cable, and be ready to begin. The "headphone" output can be plugged into an amplifier's auxiliary socket (my small Ampeg amps are wired to "center" a stereo input signal) or a home sound system using a mini-plug- to- 1/4" stereo converter jack and perhaps a mini-plug-ended extension cable, sold everywhere in various lengths. So one could practice and have the combined sound of iPad and one's instrument sent to an amp. First off I'm an old school Sound Engineer. This little Amp does it all. It has so many uses even though it is so simple. It will teach you to learn to use the controls on your guitar better. Unlike several modeling amps this little piggy takes most stomp boxes GREAT!! Maybe he best feature is its Pre Amp Out which allows you a line into the PA or it will blow you away going into the input of your tube amp giving you a realist boost over any stomp box. At low volumes using the proper guitars pickups sparkling cleans. and this Piggy was made to be dirty. Best tool to have as a back up. Great traveling amp. Battery Life is goes a long way just get rechargeable and carry a small battery recharger in its little closed stash compartment. I don't recommend using the power cord. I'm sure there are some youngsters that differ with me but the old schoolers that like it raw and understand how to dial in their tone without playing with mods will dig this amp/fuzz box. If you have a nice clean tube amp but want some growl and extra volume pre amp this baby into your amp. I have several pedals and over drives and most all become thin bringing up the volume compared to this. it just gets thicker and more meaty as you increase the vol. My buddy are blown away with what comes out of the PA with this little Piggy and just a couple of effects my 86 RAT with this work well together.Cool mixes
I have the tweed covered version of the legendary 7-100, so it sounds the same as the leatherette covered version. I was very surprised at the rich tone of this amp. I am using it with 6 AA's not the power supply (dont know what difference that makes tonally) and it sounds like a tweed champ. You can get clean tones that have just a touch of twang with single coils or weaker humbuckers (gretsch) at a lower volume and form 1/4 of the way up you get progressively more and more tweedish ( let's face it-tweed breakup is basically distortion that fuzzes up as the gain increases) type distortion. With a tele you are in rolling stones territory, and with a humbucker equipped guitar you are in Neil Young land. It is awesome for recording, just stick your mic in front and go! It takes pedals well also. I love the simplicity-no time spent tweaking controls, plug in and rock. That said; this is not an ideal amp for a young beginner guitar player. A young kid will not appreciate what this amp gives. But for experienced players who like a "tweed' tone at a dirt cheap price this cannot be beat. Also, dont listen to the nonsense from guys who own one of the "original" ones that these new ones are no good-that's crap. The circuit has not changed regardless of who constructs it.padraic9143
Mr. Chatter is a great. The Pignose sounds line a vintage amp that gives you vintage guitar sounds from the 60s and 70s. This is a real analog amplifier not digital modeling The. Pignose is hand made and a quality piece of gear that will give many years of enjoyment with its rugged construction and quality components. The Pignose is surprisingly loud and versatile. The output jack allows you to send the Pignose to an amp or power amp/PA. I recommend getting the wall wart to save battery usage for outside use. Even the adapter fits inside of the Pignose. I got the original brown and it goes with home decor very easily. The Pignose can do cleans, overdrive and fuzz tones and does well with single coil pickups. The Pignose is very dynamic and you need to use your volume knob and hand to control the amp, like a real tube amp. Inwish I got a Pignose years ago. It is not a gimmick … its a real quality amp for children, adults and recording professionals.tnak4528
