Don't buy this amp expecting to gig with it at anything more than very low volume levels. Matched with sensitive speakers and master volume set at full, you might be happy with the volume you can get with maybe an acoustic set. The BAM 200 would be fine for practicing and jamming with a friend in the basement, but add drums and an amped guitarist and I think you will struggle to be heard. It's output sounds closer to 30 or 40 watts RMS, rather than the mystery 200 watts TC Electronics rates this mini. Tone was OK, a little fat if you over do the bass control and the preamp sections seems to overload easily, even with low output basses. I really don't have a good use for it after buying it, but it is easy to transport!airtow
The perfect no frills small unit. Haven't really road tested due to virus shutdowns but home bound sound is fantastic. I originally bought for a backup type amp but am quickly becoming enamored by its tonal qualities. Over the past few years I have been trying to reduce my equipment footprint and lugging around effort. I have another TC Electronics amp (BH250) along with a 2×12 cab and a 2×10 cab. These have been fantastic in small and medium venues – larger venues all seem to have their own sound systems which tap into my setup. Now, with the addition of this unit, I can even run my Rickenbacker in stereo without breaking my back hauling around a lot of equipment. The sound coming out of the BAM is smooth and even. It can get very very thin or very very fat and everything in between controls are solid and even. The only thing I would say that might be missing is an 'auxiliary in' but that can be side stepped with a small mixer. All in all a great buy for a very big sounding little D amp that can almost fit in a jacket pocket.2991tom

Sound: I bought the Ampeg Microvr Head originaly with one Ampeg 2-10" cabinet as a part of matched set, as most people do – about three months a later I bought another cabinet – so now I'm often running two of the same cabinets and the head together. When you plug in the second cabinet the rig gets noticeably louder in this set up, and also appears to have a much more deeper bass tone(if you want it). Adding the second cabinet added $300 to my rig – but if you can afford it, the sound is far superior to just the single cabinet, and gives you a lot of flexiblity. For smaller indoor venues like playing bass behind people with pugged in acoustic guitars, I run the head with just one cabinet and it sounds fine – both tone and volume wise. When I playing along with a drummer most of the time I opt for using two cabinets rather than just one. At higher volumes – like playing with a drummer it just sound stronger and fuller in every respect than by using just the single 2 10" cabinet. I'm either running a recent custom C.F. Martin Acoustic/ Electric Bass guitar, or a Fender Precession Bass, through the rig – depending on who and what I'm playing on music wise. It works excellent with either instrument and I am very happy with the set up. Even with just one cabinet you won't be dissapointed. Features: Happy with everything that it came with feature wise. Didn't like the stock power cord that came with because it was very stiff and hard to wind up – Ampeg should switch vendors and get a power cord supllier that could offer them a more felxible cord of the same quality that you cound wind up easier. Ease of Use: Tone controls are easy to figure out and use. Rear connections on the amp are simple, straight forward and easy to use, and hook things up. I often use a Martin acoustic bass guitar with this rig – so I use a Fishman DI preamp in between my bass and the amp – this being done basically to help control feedback at higher volumes (especially when playing out door gigs) and to fine tune the tone on the acoustic bass a bit more. My Fender bass sounds fine with out the Fishman preamp and the controls on the amp head work well with it – giving you many mutiple tone combinations depending on how you set them. Also my Fender fretless bass sounds really good through the amp and the matched speaker that you will most likely buy with the head. Quality: Quality seems very high. After about two years of owning and active giging – it is holding up extremely well. Over the last year or so I have taken it out on local gigs about twice a week, So it's been out of my house more than a hundred times so far, and there haven't been any issues so far – all this in all kinds of weather and temperatures. I had black vinyl covers made for the head (from a custom amp cover innernet company)and for both speaker cabinets as soon as I bought everything – so even aften trucking the units all over the place for quite awhile now they still all look fresh and brand new. The power cord that came with it was very stiff and always hard to roll up – so I bought an after market cord on a website cord supplier that was more flexible and easier to wind up. I've used the after market power cord every since. The head has a fan in the back that runs whever the unit is powered up, that when you first get the amp drives you crazy – because it appears to sound so loud. Truth is though while you may hear it running in your house when practing – you never do at gigs. At any gig the room and enviroment background noise easily drown it out right away – you just never hear the fan running at all. When I first got it I though something was wrong with the fan – there wasn't. Its an Ampeg thing – that is the low fan noise in a quiet background setting. Keeps everything cool inside the head – so you can certainly live with it. I got used to it after awhile and don't even notice it anymore. No one has ever commented to me anywhere about any fan noise coming from my amp. So don't think something is wrong with the fan when you first get the head. Value: The original outlay (about $600 for the head and one matching cabinet) is a bit steep compared to several other small bass amps on the market out there – but you get what you pay for I guess. Due to the price saddly – alot of bass players might not be able to buy one and will go with something cheaper out there. Before buying this I looked around for about two months at other rigs on the innernet, at music stores, and at othet musicians' bass rigs when watching them perform. This unit was replacing a Hartke Kickback 12 – which I used for about three years for the same type of smaller gigs – which is for more low volume type of dealsthat I play at – where you don't have to worry about shaking the room and making the paint peel of the walls when you hit your low E string on something like Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac". Sound: I own the Microvr amp and 2 210svtav cabs. I bought the second cab after I got the Mircovr set up. The sound sound you get from this things for the money blows anything else out their out of the water. To get the rated 200watts performance you need a 2nd cab as the load with one cab is 8 ohms at 150 watts. Light weight portability and small footprint size are a plus especially if your space chanllenged. This thing rocks. Features: This is a no frills set up. Has what you need to have great sound with a headphone jack to play practice in a low noise enviroment. Ease of Use: It has a 3 band eq section that you can dial in easy to find a sound you like. Its no svtpro 7 but for the money you will not find a better amp in its class. Quality: This amp is made solid. Mimics the old school look of the 70s svt lineup. Value: With anything you purchase you wish you could get it for less thats just the way it is. But for the money you will not find a better sounding and well made rig in this class. This amp is stylish and well-made and has just enough volume for practice with a small uke group. At full volume and with the gain on half, it is equivalent to my Vox Pathfinder Bass (10W) on 4. The gain at 3/4 gives it more volume but the sound starts getting a bit bright and jangly for the passive pickup u-bass. I'm using with it. Might be ok for a bass guitar. I attached an old guitar strap to the screw-in side buttons which works really well for carrying it.danners17

I picked this up for my son so he could practice around the house. Killer stocking stuffer! When the son is away the dad will now play. Took a chance on this and purchased it without every playing it. Watched video reviews on it and gave it a shot. Yes, I know that it's small in size, smaller than a kids lunchbox but I hoped it'd produce quality sound and what I got was muddy sounds at increased volumes. It's not clear sounding and my goal to play through an amp is to sound good and I felt if I actually played this in front of people, the muddyness would make me sound amateurish. So, for what you pay for this, yes, you get amplified but it's not real great quality, unless you're a metal player because you don't get a clean sound from this. I am one of those guitarists who does not use distortion; mainly playing 50's, 60's, and country. Having done my research the '59 Bassman seemed to be the ideal amp for me with it's clean and full-sounding tones when used with my Fender and Gretsch guitars. Previously, I had used modern-spec amps and simply ignored the high-gain options, but they usually sound too mellow and a bit muddy when used clean, presumably so that when switched to distortion mode, they aren't too "fizzy" sounding. This amp is hands down the best amp I have ever used; no frills, just Normal and Bright channels with common bass, mid, treble and presence controls. Good for humbucker-equipped guitars, too: simply add pedals if you must, but your starting point will always be good tone, which puts this amp ahead of most others. This is well known as a preferred amp for Lap Steel and Pedal Steel players, and that's why I bought it primarily. Also for Baritone Guitar (B to B tuning). SO no surprise that it excels on those duties. The big surprise was that this is now my preferred amp for P-Bass with Flatwound strings, vs. my modern Mesa bass amp. Perfect tonal balance, versatile across all playing styles, warm, and plenty of headroom (I only turn it up to 3 at small club gigs). It also excels on Hollow Body Guitars and Telecasters, giving a very even sound across the registers, with warmth, depth, openness, and room for expression. Sound: If you're coming in looking for a distinctive amp character sound… this ain't it. This is for clean headroom that allows you to sculpt your sound with pedals if you need to or with modeling… or for seriously hearing what your bass actually sounds like. For me personally, I've really come to enjoy it (and I lusted after the SVT grit sound forever) and I can't believe this does good of a job for the price. Features: The power section on this is just unreal – I'm sure the wattage measure for volume is probably a little relative (then again, so is 1-10 or 11, right?), but I don't ever take it much over the "40W" marker going into a 2 x 12 cab (yeah, you read that right) and I've never had a problem keeping up with two guitarists and a drummer, either on stage or in our practice space. The EQ is a little weird if you're coming from a low/mid/high setup like just about every piece of equipment out there has, but it honestly ends up being more intuitive for adjusting to a room or different bass in front of it. I took a gamble on the line out, which I understand isn't "true DI" in the sense that it isn't an independent signal from the rest of the amp (so if you mess with EQ or volume, your FOH has to adjust on their end), but in the end I ended up pairing this with an MXR Bass DI+ for a FOH signal and to get another distortion sound, so it sort of renders that point moot. I also wish they'd put 2 Speakon jacks instead of 1 Speakon and 2 1/4" outs, but not the end of the world for me. Ease of Use: I think the biggest learning curve on this is the EQ, but as I mentioned, once you understand it, it makes much more sense than your standard 3-band. Quality: For as light as it is, it feels like a tank! The only thing I'd even be a little nervous about is the small mute switch – which just feels light because, well, it's a tiny plastic switch that you just tap, no need for a big ol' mechanical clunker, right? And as silly as it seems, just the basic case is still a great touch. Value: I was very much on the fence between this and the Mesa/Boogie Subway series, and I think if they had been the same price (and both available from zZounds with pay as you play) I would have probably ended up going with the Mesa ONLY because of the name… but I don't at all regret going with this instead. It's done everything I've asked of it. Manufacturer Support: Haven't had to deal with them directly but a big reason I purchased was that it seems like they're extremely good about direct support (including from Pat himself!) The Wow Factor: Would this blow me away as a gotta-have if I had the funds and the means? I mean, tonally, no – alone, it's not tickling my ears, but it does rumble the rump in a rather pleasing way (hey, this is a safe space, don't judge my kinks.) But as someone who needed (fine, WANTED) a physically-smaller bass amp that did the job so I could keep spending my money on rebuilding crappy guitars instead, this 100% does the trick. Overall: I'm not a bassist, I'm a guitarist who just plays one on stage. One of my favorite amps and amp concepts was the Crate Powerblock (which I still use as a travel/audition amp sometimes) – and the Bass Block is what happens if you make the Powerblock 1000 times better an at least 5.33333333 times louder (that's science, baby, I wouldn't lie to you.) This amp is a real winner. The power, as with many Class D amps isn't quite as much as the stated wattage, but it is loud and punchy. The amount of grind and kick may seem restrained because I am playing an upright, though I did test her with one of my 5 string electrics with a larger speaker cabinet, and I ran more pre gain on that run. With the upright, all knobs are at 12 0'clock, because uprights love flat sound waves. It is set up to do a great job as a double threat if I ever go back to gigs that require both upright and electric. She's gigged with me a few times and seems to have an intuitive set up with the Active and Passive inputs, Mute button, and the Depth and Contour knobs. I enjoy playing around with my electric because in conjunction with the throttling up or down of Master Volume vs. Gain and varying EQ via Depth and Contour knobs allows for a lot of very handy tone colouring.bill
I have a mixed review. I originally bought this amp because of the great reputation QSC products have had over the years under Pat Quilter's leadership – well-designed, highly-regarded products at a reasonable price, especially in the amplifier category. In the months I've used the Bass Block, it's been reliable and works without strain when I connect two cabinets, one at 4 Ohm and one at 8. That's a load of at least 2.67 Ohm, which is impressive. It never heats up, never shuts down. Bottom line: this amp has been bulletproof. The amp is light – about 15 pounds lighter than the class AB amp Eden Highwayman 500 I'd been using. Before purchasing, I spoke with Pat at the Quilter booth at the 2019 NAMM Show. He explained the tone controls, which are quite different than the usual 4-band passive or semi-parametrics you find on other units. In over 20 gigs with a number of different cab configurations with and without horn tweeters, and both active and passive basses, it has been a challenge to get the tone I need from this amp – it seems skewed toward a bassy/midrangey tone with no ability to juice up the treble. (I play classic rock in a club band, use my fingers mostly, and a pick on a few tunes) For example, when I play my Rick 4003, I can only get that clanky Rick tone if I bypass the amp's preamp section and use an outboard preamp that has more traditional tone controls. With that said, the roundish tones I can get from this unit are good; I'm just disappointed that either the unit is unable to provide the treble definition I want, or I'm unable to figure out how to get it with this amp. On the industrial design side: the amp chassis feels one step from finished – sharp folded edges stick out (versus, say, the smooth packaging you find in a GK or Genzler head.) From a marketing perspective, I wouldn't have applied the graphic of a caution sign (red stripes) to the top of the amp, and the word "block" in the product name, think "verb.Countbassy

Pairing this with a foot controller, unlocks a lot of features and/or makes them easier to use while playing. There are a lot of tips online, but the major tip is with setting the overall input gain into the unit. When set properly, this thing behaves as it should. For my purposes (generally practice, jamming by myself), it's a great unit. Other uses I would recommend this preamp for are cover bands, studio/session bassists, anything where a variety of tones is necessary. This unit differs from a lot of other preamps, in that you can model different amps with different cabs, or turn that feature completely off, making this a bit less static than other similar preamps. The user interface is a bit of a learning curve, but once you start getting it down, you realize it's pretty intuitive and well thought out.monti2889

Overall: Let me start off by saying that I am a pick player. I only ever play a precision bass with a pick, and I have been on a quest to find the best bass head that would get me that punchy mix I need. I have quite literally tried every high end head available. Ampeg Svt Classic, Ampeg Vintage Reissue, Orange AD200B, even the Aguilar DB751. Each one of these were great and they had something distinct about them but they had me missing something. The Fender Super Bassman 300 fills all gaps. It is powerful like an Ampeg, ballsy like the Orange, and has that ability to cut right through the mix like an Aguilar. The two channels allow this head to be the most versatile amp on the market for a bassist. I gave the ease of use factor just under a perfect score as I am not too accustomed to EQ'ing the passive tone stack of the Vintage channel. The overdrive channel is active tone stack and it is so incredibly simple to dial in any tone you want. Speaking of the overdrive channel- the built in overdrive on this head is better than ANY overdrive pedal. You will lose ZERO low end when the drive is engaged. It's a beautiful thing. When I purchased a brand new Ampeg SVT Classic the tubes blew after 5 months. I take incredible care of my amps (always warming and cooling tubes, making sure things are biased). This amp literally takes care of itself with the auto-biasing feature. It gives me an incredibly piece of mind knowing the amp is always biased and ready to play. It comes with a footswitch AND a speaker cable which I think was awesome of Fender to include. THE ONLY PROBLEM with this amp is that everything else you do in your life will suck because you'll wish you were playing it while you're at work. Please buy this head.David
Overall: I received this head about a week ago and just played through it today. The reason for the delay was I was waiting on a Fender Neo 410 to connect this head into that just arrived today via FedEx……I am getting a second Fender Neo 410 as well and should have the second cab in about a week.I cannot even comprehend how ridiculously awesome this head is.I plugged my '75 Jazz reissue into it with PJ pickups and steel strings. With a pick or with fingers I can get instant Squire, Geezer, and 70's Wetton tones from it. It can cop an SVT tone easily plus much more. Both channels are brilliant.I'm thankful to now have this rig. Again, I can't even imagine what this will be like with the second Neo 410. When I say "it almost made me cry" I am not joking…..I haven't even plugged my beloved Precision into it yet (my main bass) and I am already completely blown away. Floored. The GK head and Ampeg 810e I had was great….but this is an entirely new tonal realm. I will update this review when the second cab arrives and when I have had a chance to play through the whole rig loud with my band and see how everything sits in the mix…..But let it be known ….that from the initial plug-in…..this amp…..IT ALMOST MADE ME CRY…..Barnabas
Overall: First impression – this is a big, well made tube amp with huge, warm, room filling tone. It is about 20lbs lighter than an SVT, so an easy schlep for me up two flights of stairs to my apartment. As long as you understand how the Fender passive tone stack works, dialing in a nice clean tone on the vintage channel is really easy. It is clearly a bigger, thicker and more powerful tone than the Mesa Walkabout Hybrid it was replacing. I was able to cop a reasonable SVT tone with it almost immediately, which was great. Pulling out the bass knob acts like a deep switch, which I found more usable than I would have expected, though would likely keep that feature off in a gig at volume. The thing has plenty of lows without it (and I have no use for the treble boost at all). I liked the idea of being able to switch over to a mildly overdriven and more mid-forward tone for cutting through on the more rock-oriented stuff we do. I've been able to get close to that on the overdrive channel, but there is still quite a bit more tweaking I think I need to do to get it where I want it. getting that tone has been a bit more elusive than I would like, but I'll get there. The Super Bassman has all of the features I would want on an amp. The DI is nice to have. There is an 8,4 and 2 ohm switch on the back, so you can match with different cab setups (using a small 8ohm 115 for example for smaller gigs then switch over and power two 810s on the other extreme). The auto biasing system is cool and (having dealt with cranky tube amps in the past) this brings about a certain peace of mind. On the other hand, I wonder how reliable the system itself is as well – in my experience, simpler things are sometimes more reliable. Another feature that is available on the Bassman 100T is the ability to step down the power section to lower wattages – this is really nice, but not part of the Super Bassman design. Not sure why. This amp is designed for big stages, but I suspect most hobbyists use them in clubs and smaller rehearsal venues also, so having the reduced power mode would be nice. Would be great to push the power section a bit without blowing everyone else off the stage. Finally, it's a pricey amp – but you get what you pay for I suppose. This is the kind of amp I could see holding onto for a lifetime and I think its a good investment.Dave

I was in the store two days ago and played through this amp. The B300HD model is great. It's not too heavy and sonically, it'ss quite versatile for a budget amp. Unfortunately, this specific head unit is fried. After around 5 minutes of playing through it, the sound got distorted and started fading until nothing was pushing through to the cabinet. After a short break, it would work for about another 5 minutes and then started acting up again. I plugged it into 3 different cabs and used 3 different bases just to make sure that it was the head unit. I brought it to the counter and told the salesman what had happened. He said that he would take care of it, but apparently it's still on the sales floor. I'm giving 2 stars only because of how it sounded before it blew up.Butch Bobcat
Very excited to reduce the lugging weight from my previous amp which was about 40 pounds down to 7.5 pounds. Nice features. Nice EQ. 300watts in a small package. I put mine on a laptop shelf on a mic stand. Easy to reach all the controls. All in all very nice. However the amp started cutting out after about 20 minutes. After the third try I called Musicians Friend to return it. Musicians Friends customer service was excellent. No muss, no fuss. I had to wait for the replacement because it was on backorder, but it still came in pretty fast. The new one has been working no issues for several hours (2 hours at a time). All in all I'm happy but it will take a little time to gain confidence in this one. I gave it 4 stars, but Musicians Friend should get 5 stars for the service.Bassman
Bought used from a local GC. Didn't test it in the store, but plugged it in immediately when I got home. Sounded great with all tone controls at 12, super lo off, super hi off, notch filter off, and gains set to 9:30. I haven't had time to really tweak tones, but it has the flexibility for me. I ordered a positive grid 600W head it arrived defective and I returned it the next day I then ordered and paid for a second one because I didn't want to miss out on the deal. Well today I called them because the second head was not being shipped and I was told that I would not be getting the second amp because they were out. They are refunding all my money that's not the problem the problem is I was told they had another to sell me which I was find with even though they should have set one aside because they knew the first one was being shipped back. I was not even offered a deal a a rack one which they have in stock I think I should have been offered a deal on one of the other positive grid. I guess I won't be coming back terrible customer service.carl2-82833
This amp is incredible. Having pretty much any sound at my fingertips, in a unit which can go from whisper quiet (but still great sounding) to stage volume is awesome. The knobs/switches etc all feel like very high quality, and the added software licence is a nice bonus. It may seem pricey, but it is way, way cheaper than buying all those classic amps, and the sounds are indistinguishable. Can't recommend highly enough.malediction99
I was very excited to get the Bias head after many reviews online. To my disappointment, it seems that this amounts to a midi controller for the Bias Amp software and pretty much nothing else. Unfortunately, I was not able to get any kind of usable tone out of this (possibly due to my own lack of understanding or maybe it needs to be run out of a cab) but, the thing that made me give it a two star rating is that I found out the Bias FX software cannot also be used with this head. There is so much more that could have been done with this thing. I am very disappointed with the execution of this product and had hoped for something more than the bare minimum amount of functionality.NICK

I bought this because it was on sale at a great price. Was not expecting it to sound this good, esp after reading a review somewhere that said it was a really "dry-sounding" amp. I don't find that at all. Of all the amps I have owned — Aguilar Tone Hammer, Mark Bass Big Bang, Hartke 5500, Hartke TA600, Mark Bass Little Tube, and Fender Rumble — this one has to best tone to me. When the amp was backordered I almost canceled the order but am really glad I didn't. The only amp I have that sounds better is a Hartke LH1000, which is a Class A tube amp and very very heavy. The Acoustic is a fantastic amp! Great EQ possibilities, lots of tone-shaping options. The low end is much clearer than the Aguilar Tone Hammer, which tends to distort at low frequencies. More than anything, I just love the sound of this amp. Kind of odd that they are not more popularSuperman
I believe this amp is way above average with any style that you play . But as far as hard rock/metal ? Its got to be the best I've ever experienced ! I've been playing since the mid eighties but I bought this head for my son . I also bought two B410C Acoustic bass cabinets to go with the B600HD head . A perfect match ! Unbelievable hard rock tone and the overdrive is awesome ! I used to use effect processors for overdrive and compression . Not with this head! The compressor does a great job and I don't see having to use anything else other than flange or some kind of delay if he chooses. Its extremely loud and you can get those cool sounds as Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath and Scott Reeder from Kyuss . You can turn overdrive off and it has great clear bass tones also with a great eq . I wasn't sure what a Notch filter was , but it does make a noticeable difference that is adjustable . Again the overdrive is so good , you wouldn't ever think about using the Tech 21 Sansamp bass driver . Sounds so much better!! Another great and puzzling thing is the price . How can it be so good and so inexpensive? I think Acoustic's marketing program is dropping the ball . More people should know about this company! Why anyone would by Ampeg or Harke is beyond me !! Acoustic blows them away !!! only con is that its so light and powerful it vibrates off the cabinet . I've got to find a solution to that . Huge sounding and a lot of power for such a small amp. The Spark Control App gives you loads of choices from classic sounds to the most modern of amps out there today. You also have tons of effects to use in conjunction with all of these modeled amp choices. All of these possibilities can be saved as your own personal presets which can endlessly be tweaked to make you sound and play your best. You can also use the Jam Along feature which syncs to iTunes, Spotify, etc. while also displaying the chord changes as you play. The Spark amp also connects easily to any DAW for professional sounding quality recordings. This amp does it all for a fraction of the price.Javier
Used it only for practice. Unusable for live performance. Every update was a fiasco and after 11 months, it only works as a Bluetooth speaker as the Amp section gave up. Google that issue and found it happens to many other users. Defective chip and Positive Grid helpdesk is not responding.Cory
The amp is awesome. Well built and solid, very pleasant to look at, easy to use and the sound! Oh man, the sound of that little amp is just beyond belief. Full and rich, it fills the room as though it were five times the size. With the app on my android phone, fine tuning the sound is easy and intuitive, and you can save your sounds as presets if you wish. But even without using the app, the presets that ship with the amp are simply stellar. In my opinion, the amp is well worth the price.Richard L.
