Distortion/overdrive/fuzz pedals are difficult to get right. There are different "flavors" of dirt, differing amounts available, and there's the issues around EQ coloration and loss of low end. The Aguilar Agro has a nice flavor (kind of retro tube instead of overly modern), a wide range of amount (from none to pretty fuzzy), but best of all what it does and does not do to your overall tone shape. I find that it does not lose my fundamental low frequency and it does not impose a baked-in EQ (such as a mid-scoop) for me to struggle against. It's just my bass, sounding just as it always does, but with a really nice crunch added to it. Simple. But hard to get right. Nice job, Aguilar.scottfeldstein
Minus one star because it's frankly overpriced. Otherwise this pedal is excellent and the best use of 4 knobs in any current envelope filter. You can get a little more out of some of the filters with 6 or 8 controls. But for effective simplicity this pedal is fantastic. You can get a modest variety of albeit similar sounds, but nearly every setting is usable. This alone is more rare than it should be in pedals. The twin filter is incredibly well tuned. And generally easy and pleasurable to use. The only issue I have is with its price. I design audio electronics professionally and can guess at the cost to produce. And the main circuit they sadly chose to pot. Someone looking to "steal" this non-patentable design could still do so but it makes modification and repair near impossible. They should ditch the potting and set a lower price because they should be selling more of these very good pedals.Marty McFlurr

I don't review every product I buy but this one I think deserves more kudos than I think it gets credit for. It's an analog delay so that means it's going to have characteristics that will seem strange if you are coming directly from something like a Boss Digital Delay and don't have experience with Analog Delays. But compared to something like a Carbon Copy, the repeats are brighter and much more pristine and precise. It doesn't get nearly as hissy and "swirly" as the Carbon Copy and the repeats don't saturate nearly as quickly. It's a good medium between the Carbon copy and something super bright and chorus-ey as the Deluxe Memory Man. It also quite a character to the sound, not too dark, and not too bright. It's not nearly as sterile sounding as things like the Way Huge Supa Puss, Memory Lane, and the JHS panther. But yeah, let's just say I have no limit to what I can spend on delays. I have a pair of Magnepan 0.7 speakers and tried to limit the lowest bass frequencies by using this passive crossover. Since this crossover must be placed in series with the entire speaker, there were some very audible side effects. Most notably was that 1) a lot more amplifier power was needed with the crossover installed and 2) the overall sound quality worsened. Note that the crossover did exactly what it was supposed to do – limit the lowest frequencies. But this was definitely not the correct application for it. The crossover is well made and should work fine when used to only limit the lowest frequencies going only to a 4 ohm woofer. Still recommended!John
Nice piece. Works as advertised. A little on the larger side but understandable for the wattage rating. Speaking of W rating, these took all my tpro L4Z-4002 could throw at them like champs. Installed in .78 cubic foot, slot ported 8" enclosures with Goldwood Delmar series heavy duty woofers. The idea was to build a dedicated mid-bass set. Unfortunately they sounded better wide open, letting the box do the roll off. Will probably use the LPF's on the Dayton 15's I just bought for a 3 way project I'm planning.Jason

There's a lot to love about this pedal – great sound quality, a ton of useful effects, expression pedal input, 6 storable presets, and so much user control. While I love it, I'm not all that thrilled about the build quality. The case is a high-grade plastic, and not metal like most stomp boxes. The faceplate is stuck on with some kind of PSA adhesive, and when I got mine, the whole lower right corner was "lifting" off. I pressed it down to get it to re-stick, which it did for about 10 minutes, and then simply lifted up again. The left plastic button that controls the left EQ cursor movement contacts this faceplate when pressed, so some of the time it doesn't return back up completely, and requires some special attention…. The 6 user presets are stored in 2 banks of 3, and to toggle between the banks, you have to press a small plastic button. This button could have been made larger for better access on stage. In a studio, it's not an issue, but on stage it's not easy to access or actuate. There are a ton of user controlled parameters, but the ones on the "back page" aren't entirely easily accessible, and the little abbrebiations they give you at the top of the setting "band" aren't easily read. Then there's the whole varaible led indicator selection light issue. Both with the effect selection dial, and the eq/parameters band readout, it isn't really easy to tell what "value" you have set because there aren't enough lights to correspoond with the values. They use what I think is a silly double light, and variable brightness way to kinda tell you where these values are set. In the case of the effect selection dial, some of the effects are indicated by a single LED, but then the values in-between are indicated by a double light that spans 2 selections, and there's no way to tell what value is actually set unless you "rock" the wheel back an forth to see what the surrounding settings are. This can be problematic as well on the eq band readout when accessing the back page. When assigning a value to an input, they refer to values as numbers, but you have to carefully count how many clicks you've turned the dial. I don't know – it's a great pedal, sounds fantastic, but the user interface is horrible. A couple easy things that would make it better: 1.) a sensativity knob that would set the pedal to trip the envelope to playing dynamics. It seems that the harder you play, the louder the effect, BUT the envelope responds the same, just louder or softer. Maybe I'm missing where this can be set somewhere? I don't think so. 2.) An output volume knob that isn't buried on the "back page." Give me a knob on the front, and don't have me select through parameters (nor require me to remember which one it is) on the back page to set the output level. There are a ton of envelope filters out there, and this one is really nice with a host of configurable options, but due to what I think is a poor user interface, and build construction, it would not be my first choice to use live. I will never retire my MXR envelope filter, and although it may not be anywhere near as sonically flexible, I know if I drop it, it'll still keep working. I'm sure Harrison did the best they could with passive units, so I'm not faulting them. The hardware was so cheap it was worth taking a chance on it. If you're installing a car stereo, HL pass filters are probably the way to go. But if these things have a 12dB slope, I'm Carey Mulligan. Way too shallow. I actually had to engage the integrated crossover on my sub to partly compensate for the HL performance deficiency. After experimenting with my HL units for a while with desktop audio gear, I bought an active crossover with balanced jacks and an honest-to-God 24dB slope, and I like it a LOT better. (Parts Express doesn't carry it, BTW.)
I've been highpassing my satellites with a single capacitor at line level with a diy splitter, sending full range RCA signal to a diy sub as well. Revisiting these FMOD highpass plugs, they provide a little more than the recommended 250hz 2 slope highpass for a pair of BG Neo10 planar based two way satellites. My small class A amplifier maintains the power savings from a prior diy cap/splitter on its inputs, and again it sounds much more lifelike than using a cap at speaker level for highpass protection. It also has better sound than using my active 4th order crossover. Since both my sub and satellites are sealed, the electrical 2 slope of the satellites and their sealed 2 slope acoustic bass rolloff sums audibly perfectly with the subwoofer output, which uses a Dayton SPA 1000 plate amplifier. Using its 3 band parametric equalizer with a fairly narrow Q, 4db cut centred at 80 hertz knocks down a room mode. Clarifying things even further, its 2 Scanspeak supplied buyout 10 inch drivers lower harmonic distortion with a sealed heavily stuffed push pull bipole arrangement. Finally my audible torture test is passed in flying full colours. Like A Rolling Stone, Bob Dylan, almost no distortion or weird phasey effects, the multi tracks are easily heard, especially Bob's sibilant free hoarse vocals. For Your Love, The Yardbirds. Clean and punchy, finally the harpsichord sounds just like a harpsichord, and the artificial reverb is obviously artificial. Kicks, Paul Revere And the Raiders. Clean clean clean, plenty of undistorted non splashy treble throughout. A lot of natural room ambience, more than before is easily heard now. Less gain riding with movies now than before for late night. Keeping the loudest parts neighbour friendly doesn't lose quiet vocals intelligibility. Relieving my amplifier of deep bass current demands not only protects the midranges, it allows the amplifier to controll the more audible parts of the spectrum better.Mitchell
I used a pair of these high-pass filters in a classroom PA system installation for our local Oasis — Continuing Education For Seniors 50+ for which I'm the volunteer tech person. The PA system is designed for speech intelligibility, not for wide frequency response, since many of the seniors have hearing loss, typically a loss of high-frequency hearing (so-called ski-slope hearing loss). A couple of the presenters bring in music tracks with extremely loud bass. The PA system with its small speakers distributed around the classroom ceiling cannot handle the artificially louder low bass, and simply distort. Inclusion of one or more of these high-pass filters eliminates the loud bass problem and also eliminates any hum that a presenter's equipment may make. Result? The size caught me by surprise but the quality for the role has made up for it. With a little worrying weather it will fit behind the speakers in the my Transporter, I removed the speakers and low and behold massive void. My Speakers no longer flat when I turn the volume of the and role off matches nicely with the recently installed sub.mr_cf
So, being new to speaker building, I made the misstake of ordering these for a small pair of mini monitors to increase power handling in my small 2" drivers. For $15 these things are heavy duty. I haven't tried them in my design yet, but I feel they may be a little more than i was looking for, but I will find a project for them if I don't put them in the minis. Great little crossover for non-audiophile projects. It always so easy to just order these pre-assembled crossovers for misc projects and they mount clean. They do their job and accept 16awg wire with no issues, easy to solder and easy to mount. For high end applications or for high power applications you will probably have to assemble one on your own.BSav
GM Van with factory head unit, 6.5" Infinity Kappa front door speakers and powered 100W/ 6" Bazooka sub behind passenger seat. Sub crossed at 85hz/18db. These crossovers (100hz/12db) on the 6.5's cover the gap nicely with no spike or dip in midbass and improve overall clarity greatly. I did this on my last van. Total cost with DIY installation… $350.00 (Cappas, Bazooka, Crossovers). Van has a carpeted partition behind seats. Sound quality is unbelievable for $350 bucks. These quality crossovers are the magic ingredient in such a budget system. Plenty of volume but this is clearly not a high spl system for head bangers.GREGG

Ive been using the triple envelope filter by IQ for about 3 years now. I love the thing. I can get some real nasty synth sounds by combing it with a pitch shifter at one or two octaves above. I know own the EBS BassIQ Triple Envelope Filter Pedal and must say that I have long seached for a pedal with full pumping bass sound with that funky Bootsy shwoop. I have a Bass POD live and an Agent 00Funk Mark2, but neither really captures the funk. I have tried the E.H.Auto Q and Micro Q tron, the Otto line 6 filter, the DigiTech Bass Synth Wah X-Series, Ashdown Bass Envelope Filter Pedal, and the Line 6 FM4 Filter Stompbox Modeler Pedal. They all fell short of what I wanted in in a funkifying basstronic electomodulification!! The EBS seems to have been desinged by and built for BASS players. The up mode has a classic funk sound but lets uses the full thick bass sound going in and does not change it into some thin guitar sound. The down mode has the expected shorter percussive drop off. Then the Hi-Q adds a whole new dimension to the classic sound which is quite fun. I have not had the chance to acquire a Mu-tron, but I think this comes close to matching the Iconic Funikiness that I searched for over the years!
