Im really digging this guitar. I needed a travel guitar for some upcoming trips and went through the rungs. Tried the martin backpacker and traveler rm sp, but neither met my needs. The martin limits you to 15 frets and the rm sp wasnt that much smaller than my Taylor GS mini. Weve got a young one and traveling with him brings a whole slew of extra things that have to be included in a trip. My wife was not having us give up one of our carry-ons for a guitar and case. The ultra-light is perfect, and I can throw it in my back pack (in its case) with just a little of the neck hanging out. Thus, not having to give up a carry-on. Its perfect. Went with the electric too over the acoustic/electric version because of the tune-o-matic type bridge and saddles. Stellar product. Lastly, the size and sound unplugged are perfection for playing around on with others in the room and not bothering them. It actually makes me play more now.
I never knew why some guitarists have a favorite guitar and even name them. (I own several higher-end guitars and to me, they're just tools.) I purchased a black Traveler Ultra-Light some time in 2019 thinking it was a "cheapie" but good enough to stuff in an overhead bin of an airliner whenever I traveled. I was certainly impressed at how the guitar played and how well it was made, despite the low price. Since then it's been with me everywhere. But that's not how it came to be my favorite guitar. Last November I was hospitalized for 4 days. Because of Covid going around, I couldn't have visitors so I asked my wife to bring me my Traveler so I wouldn't be bored to death. That's when I fell in love with this little guitar. Because I had my own room and because my vitals were checked every hour, I spent a LOT of time playing. And because of its size and how light it was, I could play it in bed. AND it kept my mind off of what I was going through… a big plus for the road to recovery. Today, I purchased my second one in Torino Red and ordered some blacked-out locking tuners so I can keep it at my other place out of state. As for the black one, I'm not leaving that anywhere…. it's staying here with me!
I love this little guitar. I bought mine from the GC store. I have Taylor GS mini for my RV, but it's still too big and too loud in a small rv with others. I saw the Traveller guitars and thought I'd go to a GC and try it out. I'm too new at this so got the GC sales person to play so I could hear the difference using a big amp. The ones with the pickups were hot and a little bitey for me as I only really play acoustic. The Piezo pickup acoustic sounded mellow and it was on the guitarathon sale for 100 dollars off. That tipped it for me. It's small, extremely light and when unplugged, extremely quite quiet. It's so small, I'm finding that I pick up this one more than the regular guitars. Bear in mind, it's not acoustic or electric, so it's not going to sound like anything else. I bought a headphone amp and also use a regular amp when I can be loud. When practicing unplugged at night, it's loud enough for me, but nobody else can hear it. Also, I've found that if I press it tightly to my side, the lower notes reverberate in my chest. With the acoustic pickup there is no tone or volume controls, so everything has to be done through the amp. I'm getting used to that. With no body and only the wire bottom, it takes a little time before it begins to feel normal. The only negative is if I don't hit the notes perfect, I can get some fret buzz. All in all, it's so different from any other guitar, I would suggest trying it in person first. You will either love it or hate it. And remember it's a small travel guitar you can also use regularly. Play it both amplified and unplugged and see if you think it will work for you.Mike

This is a "better than nothing" guitar that will help maintain your callouses but not do much to help your playing beyond that. It's weighted incorrectly, it doesn't stay in tune, it has an awkward playing position etc. etc. It's a great concept, but poorly executed. It's easier to play with a strap. Size-wize, it does not fit inside a carry-on luggage bag, so you'd still have to carry it on your back like a backpack. I haven't attempted to bring it on a flight yet, so we shall see. I got it on-sale for just under two hundred, and I have brought it on short weekend getaway trips several times. I probably spent more time tuning it and re-tuning it than enjoying playing it. Still, like I mentioned, it's better than nothing. And, I am still happy to have bought it- though I wish it were better. I would recommend it only marginally. Pickier players will NOT like it.Detrich
I bought this not so much as a traveler , but as a guitar that was easy to always be within reach. Take to the park, beach and backyard. Maybe muted sports on tv and Traveler Guitar in hand. And B-stock? Really? I looked and looked, found one small spot that may be reason for B stock designation. I have seen new top name guitars with more “issues”. While you wont get a full blown acoustic experience, the build and playable quality is pretty solid enough to warrant not being bored or frustrated with, no sharp edges, no horrible not staying in tune, or sticky frets and excessive buzz. The portability of this is astounding, and works great as a practice guitar for when you cant play a full one is a real plus. You have a full scale neck, and when you plug in, you can really put the guitar to recording or amplification use via modeling or effects. It's shipped with extra light 10s and I think heavier gauges would not be ideal for this. But in contrast the light strings make for a bit of a fast play, electric like in feel and will definitely keep you engaged. The cons are just what you sacrifice to have easy access to a guitar to play on and transport. Not comfortable back bracing, a diving neck (but then it's not heavy really), a metal attachment that digs in a bit. Get a simple strap hook up and your problems are solved. Also as a tip, it's a simple guitar, if you find a blemished one or a sale at a good price it's a stupid good deal, and are you going to really care if something like this is banged up to begin with? Makes for a lot of fun, and a chance to play/practice anywhere.GuitarJunkie

Going into buying this, I was looking for a travel/mini guitar for a project idea I have, and also because I have muscle weakness from an autoimmune condition. So a lightweight guitar would be ideal for me, especially to have around on the couch and stuff for daily use. I almost bought Squier Minis, a purple Hofner Shorty, and a Fernandes ZO-3 before finding this beauty. I was stunned when I saw it only weighs 1.2 pounds and it's acoustic/electric, something I really didn't expect to find in the guitars I was looking at. I gotta admit, I almost got misty-eyed thinking about what it'd be like to have a 1 pound acoustic/electric guitar and all of the possibilities that would open up for me compared to heavier guitars. Especially playing standing up, which is hard for me with even smaller or 3/4 size guitars much of the time. I had no intention of selling my full size electric guitar going into this purchase, but it's nearly the same color, needs amplification, and it weighs the same as like, six of these! So it seemed redundant and I sold it, which funded the purchase of this one in the end. Some folks may only like traditional instrument materials and designs, but I think this design is incredible and such an excellent example of "universal design." This product is usable by so many people who might struggle to use traditional acoustic and electric guitars both. Bravo for designing this amazing guitar, I love it so much and now I can play music more before I get tired out 🙂

I have owned the traveler molten lava edge guitar now for about three weeks. I must say I cannot take it out of my hands. Truly love playing it. I really thought it would be a gimmick that wouldn’t work for me and I would be sending it back. Now that I have been playing it, I want to order me a custom edge. And I will probably get a few more. Having relatively recently started learning guitar on an electric stratocaster-style guitar this was a great transition to the acoustic segment. The thinner body makes it much more comfortable to play than say a dreadnought and the neck is comfortable to transition too, yet the guitar doesn't seem to sacrifice as much sound as you'd expect from a thinner guitar. The finish of the guitar is that of a more expensive guitar for example the rosewood finger board. On arrival I actually thought the guitar looked better than the pictures on the website suggest but do note that because of the finish it is prone to showing finger marks which would need cleaning time to time. After suffering a permanent back injury I could no longer play my elictric guitar as it was too heavy or my acoustic electric guitar because it felt like it was twice it's normal size because I could no longer find a comfortable position for myself to play it. I bought a keyboard thinking that I could still play music. Afterv two weeks of playing around with the keyboard I gave up pllaying. Then I saw on the internet one night an advertisement for a 3/4 size Yamaha acoustic electric guitar guitar with a slimline bosy which looked like a nice guitar so I checked out males and females playing it and sounded very nice so I bought one. Man am I'm so glad I did. I got the sunburst like this one on sale. I was excited as l took it out of the box and went straight to my mancave and started playing it. It was perfecty in tune and for a guitar of this size it's got such a beautiful tone playing ACOUSTIC. So I plugged it in and it's as good as it sounded on YouTube. As an 67 yesr old man who started playing guitar when I was 16 years old, this is a beauty. The only thing I'm not entirely happy with is the action. It's just a little too high. Other than that, I love it. It's a very nice looking acoustic for the money. It stays in tune extremely well and I was shocked at how full the sound was even with such a thin body. Sounds even better plugged in. The thinner body is super comfortable to handle and hold. It makes the transition from electric to acoustic very easy. The built in tuner is one of my favorite features. It works great and seems to be as accurate as any other tuner I've ever used. Overall, I would recommend this acoustic to anyone on a budget looking for a great sounding and feeling acoustic who doesn't mind the action a little on the higher side. (Side Note – I might be too critical on the action since I'm used to my electrics set up for such low action.)

I’ve been playing a Taylor 310 for 25 years and was looking for something smaller and lighter to transport. Having read a lot of reviews and listened to the videos I thought I would try the GS Mini Koa and see what all the fuzz was about. This guitar sounds amazing! The Koa gives it a depth AND sparkle that you don’t expect from a small guitar. I keep asking myself does it lack depth compared to my dreadnought, technically it does but actually I don’t miss it because the sound is so full. The volume too is quite exceptional, I tend to strum a lot with a pick and don’t mind digging in hard….. this guitar just sings under those circumstances. It get’s louder and louder without noticeably going out of tune. At the other end there is such clarity and sustain that quiet finger picking also sounds great. You can easily hear a single note melody within a chord. Are there any downsides? Well if you have big hands then the reduced neck length may feel too cramped…. For me this is actually more comfortable than a full size neck but you wouldn’t want it any smaller. In summary I’m blown away, just amazing.David
Wow… what a stunner! Opening the case for the first time was quite an experience. This is a seriously beautiful guitar with beautiful craftsmanship. As a beginner with small hands (even for a lady) I have found acoustic guitars in the past to be very uncomfortable to play, the size of the body, the width of the neck, the high action, and after struggling with a Lorenzo Flame Series for the past year I decided enough was enough, electrics aren't almost impossible to play so why should I have to struggle with acoustic? I did some research and everything was pointing me towards the Taylor GS Mini-E series. Holding this guitar in my hands for the first time felt like a revelation. It felt like Taylor had made a guitar specifically for me – wearing a strap the body fits easily under my arm and my fingers just know exactly where they're meant to go. The sound of the guitar is rich and vibrant with a bright top tone – quite a feat in a parlour size guitar. After watching reviews it seems that this is due to the Koa body. The guitar also comes with soft, well-padded case that feels like it'll protect well from bumps and bruises whilst travelling. It has some nice shoulder straps so it feels like you're wearing a large (but light!) backpack. The best thing about this guitar though is that it's such a joy to hold and play that I can't put it down; my playing ability has increased so much in the past few weeks since buying it. As a beginner I absolutely recommend this guitar as an introduction to acoustic guitars. Taylor is my dream acoustic guitar brand. And I always like the versatility and sound of a GS Mini in all versions: Mahogany, Spruce and also, Koa. Mine is Spruce 100% acoustic. It is worth to mention some details about how to extract the best sound of it: 1. The recommended string gauge is .13. Pay attention to all demos and YouTube video reviews. All of them use .13 string gauge. I recommend Elixir 16182 Phosphor Bronze Nanoweb HD Light Acoustic Strings 13-53. This guitar plays very nicely and sounds great when lightly amplified. If you don't amplify it it sounds nice, but its not super bright or loud as can be expected. So for a traveler guitar (which is probably why you got it), it's great. The tuners works really well and the electric tuner is accurate. Weight balance is also very nice.
Got the Dreadknought in exchange for the Concert Koa, though the Koa was a beautiful instrument itself. The Dreadknought has great depth in unplugged sound quality and is great sounding plugged in also. Fit and finish appears to be top notch. It's gone a few places already and has impressed the people that have seen it.
Just received my Redlands Dreadnought today. I’ve been separated from my instruments for three weeks and was going a little crazy when I came across an ad goths Redlands. There was one B for sale at an attractive price, I can’t find a blemish of any kind, and figured it would at least give me something to play in the meantime. I haven’t been able to put it down all day. It’s a very cool little guitar, easy to play, sounds better acoustic than I hoped for. After playing it for awhile it became very comfy. My other instruments are high end vintage guitars, I’m lovin this one. Can’t wait to plug it in and see what happens. I’d reccomend buying one if you have a need for something like this.

I really liked this little guitar, BUT…I read the reviews and decided to buy in-store so I could play the guitar before buying, and I'm SO glad I did. I went into my local Guitar Center and played THREE of these Martin LX1E guitars, including one that had been specially unboxed so I could try it after two others failed my examination. All three guitars had a very pronounced buzz in the frets. It was not that noticeable when I played them acoustically, but the buzz was very noticeable when I plugged them in to an amp. I even tested the amp with other guitars, to make sure it wasn't the amp. It wasn't. Its a great little guitar, great tone and very playable, BUT my advice would be not to buy this one on-line. Play it first. Play up and down the whole fretboard, and plug it into an amplifier and play again. I have been playing for more than fifty years and have never experienced playing three brand new Martins that were simply not up to snuff. Weird!Tele Playr
The guitar itself can have five stars. Nothing wrong with it. The problem I have is that it is not the old LX1E lefty that Martin used to make and I used to own. It is advertised incorrectly here as containing the Fishman I-sys electronics that contained a volume, base/treble controls and a phasing button for feedback. It also no longer contains the tuner. This is basically the LX1 Little Martin with a Sonitone pickup under the bridge and tone/volume control in the sound hole, which I despise. I prefer the old version where the tuner and controls were on top side (as shown in the picture variety). This needs to be updated!!! I now have no tuner on this guitar when I fully expected one. I would recommend the Little Martin guitar but it needs to be advertised correctly.Jules
I bought this guitar for my son so he can have a smaller guitar to lug around in school. We were surprised when we received the product that the pickup that was installed is a Sonitone pickup instead of what's advertised – an Isys T preamp. The Isys preamp has a tuner, phase and tone control whereas the Sonitone is built into the sound hole and only has the volume and tone control. I brought this up with customer support saying I only wanted the product that I thought we were buying. I received excuses and a repeated offer to return the guitar. We chose to keep it because we need it and like the Martin sound. However MF does not stand up to what they advertise and could not provide a reasonable explanation why the product was switched. Even as I write this review, the description still says it has the Isys pickup. Good luck to future buyers and know that you are buying a different product.Pasigenyo

I had initially ordered a PR150 at a screaming deal and was notified that it was on backorder (expected at the very low price). I then decided to step up and talked to Amber (CS) and she walked me through the whole process seamlessly and offered another screaming deal. The guitar arrived and upon inspection I saw that it was very attractive with no physical flaws. The next thing I noticed was that the strings had once been used to hold up the Golden Gate Bridge (expected and I have 3 different setsa to try). I tuned it and hit the strings—-WOW, despite the lousy strings this guitar had some very long sustain with a nice sound. I then checked the intonation—perfect up and down the fretboard. Having said all this YMMV. I will be playing it a bit and letting it acclimatize to this Central Ar. environ. I will then remove a very slight bow in the neck, dress the frets and install a lowered TUSQ saddle (I am not a guitar repairman, only a parts changer who likes to use his hands). The 5 stars is for the whole experience with customer service and the value/price point ratio of this guitar—once again YMMV. This is going to be a present to a luck graduate
I've never owned a full size acoustic but I've played on many, so I was looking at quite a few when I came to the Epiphone J-15. Obviously the price jumps right off the screen, so I figured why not pull the trigger, how bad could it be? Well surprise, it's not too bad at all! Upon unboxing the guitar I was immediately impressed with it's simple, yet elegant look. It's definitely a classic style you've seen a million times, but it looks much better in person than online. Mine came with no finish flaws or imperfections. Next it was to inspect the setup, and once tuned up I was pleasantly surprised to find the action was very close to the way I like it, and it has a comfortable, very playable neck. Now I'm not saying every one of these will come setup properly out of the box, but it's always nice when you get one that is. BUT all is not perfect, as to be expected at this entry level cost. Right about then is when I noticed that the fretboard is very raw and not too pleasant feeling to say the least. It's fine for chord strumming, but once you get into some more technical playing it can get a little "sticky" feeling moving up and down the fretboard. Fortunately that is an easy enough fix with a little sanding and finishing oil. Interestingly enough this acoustic guitar came packaged with a 1/4 inch TS cable from Epiphone, which is just plain odd considering it's in no way an electric instrument LOL! I'll take the freebie though, you can never have too many cables. All in all, if you're looking for a quality sounding dreadnought acoustic and don't want to pay too much, I think this Epiphone definitely hits the mark. Just be aware that you might need to put in a little work on the fretboard to bring it up to par.
Plays really well, and has a nice warm tone, and good volume and projection. Has binding around the edges and a Gibson style truss rod cover on the headstock. I don't like that stylized 'E' on the pickguard but I imagine the it will wear off over time. The neck feels really nice and plays well, has good action and smooth fret ends. The angled headstock keeps the guitar in tune well and looks nice too. The guitar sounds good plugged in, so if you're going to play gigs it works for that. I do wish that it had a built in EQ and volume, but it has none of that, just a peizo pickup and an output jack. I don't play plugged in very often so it's not a big factor for me. The output jack is built into the Strap pin, which I like, and there is a strap pin on the heel of the guitar neck. I definitely recommend this guitar, especially if you're on a budget, or want a guitar that you don't want to worry about getting beat up.SirJackalope

For the money, I couldn't find a better acoustic guitar (A new one anyways). I've owned many high end Martins, but I wanted something that was easy to travel with and I wouldn't worry about if it got scratched/dented. Out of the box the action and intonation were very close to perfect. I adjusted the truss rod myself to fit my playing preference, and the intonation was so close I doubt anyone will notice when playing further up the neck. The building materials are not great, but once again, "for the money"… My only con is they don't have a hard shell case for this particular model. The included soft shell case is still convenient, but I kind of wish they'd make a HSC like they did for the dreadnaught model.Garrett G.
This guitar is good for the money. Neck straight. All workmanship is precise. Light and not overly heavy from clear coat gunk. Neck is short but wide. Strings that came on it went in trash in 5 min. Use Lixrs on these small guitars. Nuff said…Not too small like Martin mini where you fight it not to be a uke and it really is. Quality is near perfect. Case is the good one like the minis. Doesnt feel like a GS mini which feels too small. This guitar feels good but smaller that normal. Set up fine out of box (which is more than I can say for the USA models). Ready to play. I will prob change out stock pickup for DTar syemour duncan wavelength solo later. Not that the stock pickup is bad; just like seymour better for acoustic under saddle "non-quack" pickup. If you know how to use an eq then dnot need that extra tone button anyway, plus fihsman is kind of not great stuff. After about 10yrs needed something better. Overall: I purchased this guitar for practice, and to record licks for quick pre-production ideas. My Taylor GS Mini does not have electronics and I wanted to add a Martin to my collection anyway. When plugged in the Martin sounds very rich and there is almost no sound degradation between plugged and mic’d, very impressive! The fingerboard is wider than the one on my Taylor GS and as a result is much easier to play for me. This guitar is not as rich sounding or as comfortable as my Washburn 55 Comfort Series but the sound, the cut-away, and the small size makes this my choice for those quick pre-productions or gigs.Installation of an onboard tuner would make this guitar perfect in my opinion.

This little traveler plays like a bigger guitar. Compaq when broken down and travels very well. This is my second purchase of a traveler guitar because I wanted the acoustic version. The gimmicky stethoscope works very well, surprisingly so! Also, the pick ups work much better than I would expect from a little guitar like this. Its rugged, and gets very interesting looks from the TSA. If youre traveling, this is worth the purchase.
This is the second of these that I have owned. The first one was unfortunately stolen. It's got great playability, and good tones, especially with all the pickup configurations on this model. I have had people come up to me and ask about it, specifically so that they can have a portable guitar that won't produce much sound acoustically. The only thing I wish it had (and it's not enough of an issue to dock it a star, just a small preference) would be a built in preamp. I have to get an external unit in order to use my headphones, and I wish that Traveler Guitar made the preamp standard.
Looks and feels slick. Light at around 2Kg with bag. Plays with a low action with minimal buzz. A bit concerned at the amplification, having interfaced to two amps and got muted and stunted sound. But want audio to be good in headphones, so will be buying a headphone amplifier. Currently tossing up between a plug-in (that can be bought to desired sound e.g. Lead, Blues etc..) that interfaces to earplugs; or earphones with built-in sound amplification and synthesis (around twice as expensive). I don't know how the Traveler guitar pick-ups will behave, so I'll have to take the guitar into a music shop.

Great little guitar for grabbing on the fly, and playing without disturbing anyone, anytime, anyplace. Has enough adjustment to set up for good playability, and the build quality is good. The 4 internal amp modes are good enough to practice a variety of styles, albeit without any gain adjustment (only volume and tone). The only drawback so far is that it doesn't seem to allow for bypass of the amplifier to get a natural analog signal out to a separate amp or other interface. It seems to require the powered internal amp at all times, even in the "bypass/clean" setting. Removing the batteries kills the output signal altogether, even in the "bypass/clean" setting, which I expected to default to passive electronics. This is majorly disappointing since the noise picked up through the small internal amp is always injected into the signal no matter what. They need to add a bypass switch which allows for passive operation when desired or necessary. Don't run out of batteries at your gig!
I wanted something small, not so much for travel but for playing around the house. My main requirements were that it was comfortable to play seated, well balanced without a strap, and small enough to play on the couch. The headphone preamp was the main feature that made me decide on this model over the others. Turns out it's actually comfortable to play seated, and an unexpected bonus is not having the headstock, I can set it down pretty much anywhere without worrying about knocking it out of tune. I also find the tuners to be more convenient than the normal arrangement, since I can pluck a string with my right hand then turn the tuning peg without going anywhere. The frets all look good, no cosmetic issues anywhere. I seem to be getting just a bit of fret buzz on the 4th string around 5, but I'll wait a few weeks to see if that changes with the environment. Oh, and when playing on the overdrive or distortion settings, the sustain is just unreal, I wasn't expecting much for the size. Bonus is it's small enough I think I may be able to play it in the passenger seat on road trips when the wife takes turns driving!
Bought an EG-1 custom at Guitar Center. Got it home, plugged the headphones in and was pleasantly surprised. Then… plugged in the Amp and though WOW!! This little guy is on point. The fit & finish, tone, features & initial setup were impressive. It's PERFECT for what I needed. I'll enjoy being able to tote this around & also put in carry-on with me. Excellent Job Traveler, It's evident… ya'll take pride in your build quality.

My mahogany Traveler Escape arrived yesterday from Musician's Friend. Looking at the label on the inside box it is fresh inventory just delivered to MF a few weeks ago. The build quality is quite nice. It tunes well, it intonates well, sounds like solid body guitar acoustically (loud enough for practice in a quiet room), and can sound quite good amplified. I played one 5 years ago and at the time was not able to get a decent portable amplified tone, but today's amplification options have really broadened. Into a Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb (also from MF) set with bass/treble on 5 and some reverb, all I had to do was slightly tweak back the treble and bass on the guitar for a very good acoustic guitar like tone. Maybe not exactly a mic'd D28 but musical and pleasant. I can get to the same place with a Mustang Micro (also from MF) headphone amp into a Bluetooth speaker AUX input. I've found two Bluetooth speakers where the AUX inputs work well with the Mustang Micro. Not all Bluetooth speakers sound good at all so try a few. Now I've got the same great tone to go. The bottom line is the magic of a Fender Deluxe Reverb really does great stuff to the Piezo UST in this guitar (and probably many other guitars with similar pickups) and would not likely be your first thought on how to sweeten the amplified tone.Jon F.
I bought this to replace my usual travel guitar, an old Gibson acoustic. The top split on my last trip. I don't want to travel with my L-00 or any of my other guitars so I got this to replace my usual travel guitar which is now my beach guitar. This B-stock Escape Mark III is just so convenient. Small, lightweight, full scale, it's just so easy to pick up and practice on. With headphones I can practice all the time without disturbing the entire house. Just a great instrument. The piezo pickup was a little too brittle for me played directly to headphones. But a Fender Mustang Micro headphone amp into a clean Fender Black Face Deluxe amp model and some spring reverb does wonders. Another good option is going directly or even better through the Mustang Micro into the Aux input of a Bluetooth speaker. Not all Bluetooth speakers handle this well and are compact enough to fit in the Escape's gig bag pouch. Two good option I've found are the Klipsch Groove II and the Bose Soundlink Revolve+. The MKIII is nicely built for its price point. The top binding is a bit sharp and with a little carpet tape I attached an arm rest I made from cherry. It gives the guitar a slightly bigger feel. In my lap it’s as comfortable to play as my PRS McCarty Thinline. It tunes smoothly and stays in tune. It came perfectly set up for action, intonation, and neck relief. I did swap out the factory strings and suggest changing strings three at a time to keep the hardware in-place. Changing strings takes some practice to get right. Just a perfect companion for modern air travel with jammed overhead compartments. Even with priority boarding you can't be sure you can make your connections on-time to count on carrying-on anything larger.

I've owned an Ultra-Lite for many years and all the comments are spot on — these guys are fun to play, and an excellent road (and studio) companion, for sure; they also stay in tune, have excellent neck and hardware, and stand the test of time and trekking. I recently had an opportunity to handle the Travel-caster model, and it was a real pleasure to play and would definitely recommend it. The value of all of these guitars is their absolute lightness and compactness and the quality of products in general seem very reliable as far as i can tell. The travelcaster deluxe is everything I wanted it to be. It's a Strat, plain and simple. It has a proper maple fretboard and correct scale length. I was able to play it everyday in the hotel and it performed wonderfully. Sounded great acoustic or through a headphone amp. Went through airport security without a problem and fit easily in the overhead compartment.I don't know what else to say. I love it!!
I'm about 15 minutes into this guitar, and after going it with a fine tooth comb, I have it adjusted and it sounds great. The shape is a little adjustment, but I plan to take it on vacation with me. I've been winding my own pickups for 11 years, and I thought I would want to do a pickup swap with it. Well, that's not needed. These pickups are loud and strong. Neck feels good too. I'll probably need to polish the frets because they feel a little rough, but initially this has exceeded my expectations.

This is another addition to my earlier post I still like the guitar as I mentioned before but when I just now went to record using the pickup system I was not pleased. At least to my ears it sounds like a very low end piezo under the bridge like the earliest kinds in the 80's buzzy and thick lacking in any of the subtle sounds I get playing it acoustically.Petros
Up front I like brighter sounding acoustics (and electrics) and this model Martin was a real revelation. It feels like an electric neck to me so easy to play and the workmanship is outstanding. I was a little thrown by the bolt in neck but I get it now, it allows for owner adjustments (though I would still take it to a luthier) but what floored me was how singing this guitar is all the way up, even chords up at the 12+ frets sound full and loud. This is a pretty darn loud guitar. It has a nice deep penetrating low end but not a fat low end like a more traditional expensive Martins it has bite but a very appealing musical bite. (Think P90 as opposed to Humbuckers) (I'm speaking only played acoustic have not plugged it in yet) again I like it because it sings with a great sustain but not too much low end which can be difficult to record and sing against. Notes just seem to push tone out I was able to push this guitar until it seemed like the strings were rubber bands but it never quit it just kept the tone clear and ringing. Love the design of the bouts feels great to have on your lap. It sounded great flat picked finger picked nail picked strummed hammered pulled nothing did not sound excellent to my ears. I also tried a Taylor 214 CE K which I thought sounded great on videos but wow it sounded choked in many ways and chords that barked out and shouted on the Martin sounded muffled and pretty weak on the Taylor. That's when I decided this Martin was it. (In some ways this guitar sounds like a 12 string because of the bell like clarity and definition just what I was looking for).Petros

I started taking lessons again after a long break. I bought this to take with me on my trips, as an airline pilot I'm on the road constantly. It's perfect to sit in my hotel and play, and the size makes it easy to travel with. The neck is a great size and the action right out of the box was perfect. I can plug in the headphone amp and play no matter what time of the day or night it is. I'm glad I picked this up.
I have always wanted a guitar small enough and rugged enough to take on deployments and military exercise. It is quiet enough to play in open bay barracks while others sleep, or I can tune out the clowns and play in my rack using the stethophone headset. This Pro-series Traveler Guitar is everything I was looking for. As a bonus it has already stood up to the beatings of my 3 year old son who broke my last guitar within 24 hours of purchase. I don't think I will ever need another guitar; but you know how it goes.
Ordered this because I do a lot of traveling for work and play. Hated taking my main guitars on any trip due to theft and damage risk. This beauty is just what the doctor ordered. I originally had Sweetwater put heavier electric strings on it to toughen up the sound. Big mistake. Changed the strings to light acoustic bronze ones from Elixir, and that made it nearly perfect! The stethophone is my favorite method of playing. The true acoustic sound is as huge as my Ovation Celebrity Elite, without the volume to disturb others. When I plug in a VOX headphone amp or other headphone, the pickup cranks out like a Strat on bridge position. When plugged into a serious amp, all doubts about this guitar's capabilities disappear immediately. The sound is everything any of my Strats or SGs can pump out, period. I would gladly play this axe in any situation. The quality is excellent. I have had it for about 4 years now, and I never travel without it. Even on a motorcycle trip, it can be easily carried in backpack mode or strapped to saddlebags. When strapped to the saddlebags, it does not interfere with riding in any way. Would give 10 stars if I could!

For this amount of money I had great expectations and would not settle for almost great. This guitar did met my great hopes and is sonic perfection to my ears. The guitar is extremely articulate so exact finger positions are imperative. The nuances of this articulation also seem to translate well when plugged in. The guitar itself is not loud when played acoustically. The line driver is really fascinating. I have tried over a dozen pick ups in many guitars. None sound better or even as good as this one. Takamine is really building great guitars. I suspect that the thermal process has something to do with the incredible articulation with this guitar. I realize that there is a much cheaper substitute for this guitar however I would be willing to bet it does not perform like this model. Unfortunately the cost is high which likely means that some great players will not be able to own one of these. Although I have had the fortune to own hundred of acoustic guitars, none have sounded better. I have had a few that cost more and most have cost considerably less. I have zero regrets paying this much money for this guitar. I am a light flat picker but I suspect that finger style players would also love this guitar. The action was set a bit low for my tastes but that seems to be the current trend. The low action would be my only criticism and is very nitpicky for this great package. I am 53 years old and have played guitar most every day for around 35 years. Very few people have bought and sold more acoustic guitars then me. This guitar is an absolute GEM.seanerbeaner

Do yourself a favor and pass on this very strange instrument. You are much better off with a standard acoustic bass that has far better tone, is easier to set up, stays in tune better, and is easier to play. Changing strings is a royal pain and it's not particularly well balanced. A fair price for this Asian bass would be about $100 max. Dull looking wood as well.kraigster414
Okay, as the title says, this is my first left handed bass. I've only messed around with right handed equipment & I've always felt discouraged to play but when this came in yesterday & I took it out of the box, it felt right. I still have to tune it right, no complaint, every instrument needs to be tuned but still, I hooked it up & it sounded beautiful to me. She's a wonder. Great little guitar for grabbing on the fly, and playing without disturbing anyone, anytime, anyplace. Has enough adjustment to set up for good playability, and the build quality is good. The 4 internal amp modes are good enough to practice a variety of styles, albeit without any gain adjustment (only volume and tone). The only drawback so far is that it doesn't seem to allow for bypass of the amplifier to get a natural analog signal out to a separate amp or other interface. It seems to require the powered internal amp at all times, even in the "bypass/clean" setting. Removing the batteries kills the output signal altogether, even in the "bypass/clean" setting, which I expected to default to passive electronics. This is majorly disappointing since the noise picked up through the small internal amp is always injected into the signal no matter what. They need to add a bypass switch which allows for passive operation when desired or necessary. Don't run out of batteries at your gig!
I wanted something small, not so much for travel but for playing around the house. My main requirements were that it was comfortable to play seated, well balanced without a strap, and small enough to play on the couch. The headphone preamp was the main feature that made me decide on this model over the others. Turns out it's actually comfortable to play seated, and an unexpected bonus is not having the headstock, I can set it down pretty much anywhere without worrying about knocking it out of tune. I also find the tuners to be more convenient than the normal arrangement, since I can pluck a string with my right hand then turn the tuning peg without going anywhere. The frets all look good, no cosmetic issues anywhere. I seem to be getting just a bit of fret buzz on the 4th string around 5, but I'll wait a few weeks to see if that changes with the environment. Oh, and when playing on the overdrive or distortion settings, the sustain is just unreal, I wasn't expecting much for the size. Bonus is it's small enough I think I may be able to play it in the passenger seat on road trips when the wife takes turns driving!
I have really enjoyed my EG-1 so far. It is well-built and I think it will last a long time. My only minor suggestion is that the volume and tone knobs could feel a little more solid. The knobs on the guitar now feel a little too light and plasticky. However, I would recommend this guitar without hesitation!
