Don't buy this amp expecting to gig with it at anything more than very low volume levels. Matched with sensitive speakers and master volume set at full, you might be happy with the volume you can get with maybe an acoustic set. The BAM 200 would be fine for practicing and jamming with a friend in the basement, but add drums and an amped guitarist and I think you will struggle to be heard. It's output sounds closer to 30 or 40 watts RMS, rather than the mystery 200 watts TC Electronics rates this mini. Tone was OK, a little fat if you over do the bass control and the preamp sections seems to overload easily, even with low output basses. I really don't have a good use for it after buying it, but it is easy to transport!airtow
The perfect no frills small unit. Haven't really road tested due to virus shutdowns but home bound sound is fantastic. I originally bought for a backup type amp but am quickly becoming enamored by its tonal qualities. Over the past few years I have been trying to reduce my equipment footprint and lugging around effort. I have another TC Electronics amp (BH250) along with a 2×12 cab and a 2×10 cab. These have been fantastic in small and medium venues – larger venues all seem to have their own sound systems which tap into my setup. Now, with the addition of this unit, I can even run my Rickenbacker in stereo without breaking my back hauling around a lot of equipment. The sound coming out of the BAM is smooth and even. It can get very very thin or very very fat and everything in between controls are solid and even. The only thing I would say that might be missing is an 'auxiliary in' but that can be side stepped with a small mixer. All in all a great buy for a very big sounding little D amp that can almost fit in a jacket pocket.2991tom

This little work horse has it all in one handy unit. It weighs next to nothing, yet has so much packed into it. I have been using the RH-450 for roughly 5 years now and I couldn't be more pleased with it's performance. I play everything from rock to country to blues to polka. I can get a great sound for any musical situation. I did a lot of research before I bought it and nothing came close to it when you consider all the available features including built in tuner, compressor, tube tone, EQ, 3 separate pre-sets, built in DI, audio input for practicing with headphones, and enough power for pretty much any gig (power 3 RS cabinets off one unit). When you add up the cost of all those extras you could buy for a conventional rig, THIS IS A STEAL! I liked it so much I bought a second one so I could keep one in the band trailer and another for home & side gigs. Wow, I already expected a great amp from using the BH250 but this monster totally impressed me. It has way more power than you would expect and the tone is awesome. From very clean and articulate to down right nasty. As much as I like GK and Markbass, TC Electronic is now my favorite. I have owned this amp for several months now and it still impresses me each time I play it at practice or on a gig. When a sound guy says it is the best DI he has heard, that is saying something. I picked this head up as a back for my gig rig based on the price and weight. I put it through a 3-4 hour break in at moderate volume as I do with all my equipment. I used it as my primary amplification for bass at a 4 hour gig last week paired with a Hartke AK410 cab. The unit performed very well and exceeded my expectations for volume and clarity. You cannot buy more power (500w rms at 4ohms and 300w at 8ohms) for less money. The controls are very basic, and the "thrust" compressor doesn't do a whole lot, but there's more than enough power, and it so far has been very reliable. It is also dead quiet when idle, and the fan is not annoying like on some of my other gear. I highly recommend this amp head, and it will become my primary workhorse because of how well it performed.superjaay

Klar, Metal ist nicht damit machbar, aber das Teil liefert gerade die korrekte Menge Crunch, wobei der Klang immer transparent bleibt. Für Humbucker die Normaleinstellung, für Single Coils die Fat-Stellung und wenn das nicht reicht, muss man halt Gain am Amp aufdrehen. Ich werde das Teil nicht mehr von meinem Pedalbrett entfernen.
Look… this pedal is great. Even without the “fat” switch on it still has the kind of bottom end that most overdrives and distortions lack which makes it a great crossover pedal between guitar, bass, double bass, vocals, a contact mic’d plate of nachos or ukulele. But the real reason I bought this pedal was anti psychotic medication and it has the same name as my cat. Zeus is a ginger bengal x ragdoll. He’s eight years old and exceptionally funny and weird. You never know if you’re getting a nose boomp or a face bite. Though he’s really good with the kids on my street and he’s become somewhat of a local Tempe icon. Ein weiterer Klon im weiten Feld der Klone. Ich glaube die Wenigsten von uns hatten schon einmal die Möglichkeit einen RICHTIGEN Klon zu testen. Ich gehöre nicht zu den Glücklichen. Was dieses Pedal aber kann ist den Grundklang der Gitarre und des Verstärkers noch etwas aufzuhübschen. Drive ganz runter, Tone je nach Gitarre/Tonabnehmer um die Mittelstellung herum und dann mit Volume den Sound andicken. Funktioniert hervorragend! Besonders zum Tragen kommt das Pedal meines Erachtens nach bei Single-Coils, aber macht euch selbst ein Bild – bei dem Preis kann man wirklich nichts falsch machen.

This pedal has gotta be one of the most underrated OD pedals out there…. especially given its price point. I have A,B'd this thing against modded BD-2s, modded OD-3's, and the SD-1W and the Mojomojo is just bigger and less tinty. I dont want it to be, but it is. It is a wonderful sounding OD and is great for OD rhythm sounds. It is in the cranked Marshall class of OD's so not to be confused with the green OD pedal. The only area that some of my modded ODs beat it in is sustain. It does tail off on lead stuff sooner than some more expensive pedals. That is the only area that it doesn't win though. You can also use this as an always on boost as well. All in all this thing always seems to knock more expensive pedals off my board time and time again. Highly recommend this pedal and at it's price point it should be in all OD aficionados collection.KL
I use the MojoMojo on my Fender G-DEC Junior and it helps to make the amp sound warmer, richer and fuller. The MojoMojo when dialed in right adds a very slight and suttle low mid thickness, hard to explain. I find its not a "set it and forget it" type of pedal (i.e. Tube screamer), for each amp setting I have to dial it in or it will sound muddy but with a little tweaking between the amp settings and the pedal settings (usually level settings rather than tone knobs) I can get them matched tonally and sonically, bass tone knob is usually set pretty low. I use low output humbuckers and it works great with these. I can get nice overdrive without changing the amps overall characteristic sound.

I was really surprised at how good this amp sounds. Years ago I tried Line 6 and was not at all happy with the tone; but this is another story. It does take me awhile to dial in a specific classic rock tone, but when I do, it sounds better than any other amp that I've tried. I have tried the Marshall Code, Blackstar id Core, Vox Valvetronix, Boss Katana; as well as some all tube amps. The only other amp that is a close 2nd is the Fender Mustang GTX; also a great amp. The Spider V is fairly easy to operate. It offers lots of choices for amp models and cabinets. I like that it has variations of a mic'd cabinet. The parametric eq is a plus. I haven't played around too much with the effects yet, so I can't comment on that. The only negative thing I could say is that when you're editing a preset and want to hear how it sounds before you save it, you only have a short time before it goes back to the Home Screen. This really is a small price to pay for the quality of the amp and all the versatility it has. I like the App too. Musicians Friend got me a great on this as well; and their agent is following up making sure that I'm satisfied. The funny thing is that I came across this by accident. I placed an order for a Peavey amp that was on back order. I called Peavey multiple times, but they never returned my call. I also emailed them, but they didn't respond to that either. As far as I'm concerned, Peavey doesn't have any customer support.crrkr
Been playing about a year, so my review is from the perspective of a complete newbie. The things I like- Lots of presets, mobile app functions, computer interface, and loads of user created effects available. Nice and loud, but no real basis of comparison to say if clarity is better or worse than other comparable amps. Don't likes- The micro-usb interface. I had to get an adapter and it's just not as good a connection as nearly anything else would be. IMHO, micro-usb is far too flimsy. Connecting to PC is far more problematic than just using the spider mobile app. It's probably a little more complicated than it should be for a beginner, but it's feature rich for the money.Nic T
I had a Line 6 120w amp for years that I regrettably sold a while ago and was looking for another amp. I looked at all the amp reviews I could find and decided that the new Katana was the way to go. I got the Katana home and absolutely loved it but the second day I had it it started a really loud buzzing that I couldn't stop. It probably was an easy fix but the fact is the amp was way too powerful for my purposes and their software wasn't compatible with the new Catalina OS. I returned and started looking again. I saw the 60w Spider V and the price was excellent so I made an on the spot decision to buy another Line 6 and I'm really glad I did. The tones this amp can get are incredible. There are so many amp models and cabs that you can dial in pretty much any tone you want from a crispy snapback country clean to the most vicious heavy metal and everything in between. You can use the presets as they are or you can use them as a baseline and tweak to your own liking or you can start from scratch and build your own rig from the ground up. The controls are intuitive and easy to use but there are some features where you'd have to be a professional to really know how to use or even care to use. The software and the mobile app are so easy to use and give you all the options at your fingertips. The amp comes with a lot of presets that I find are completely useless but there are a lot that are excellent as I already talked about. There are only four empty slots for your own custom presets and I wish there were more but if you use the mobile app you can have your own tone library on there. I bought the FBV3 foot controller so that gives me a lot of flexibility to have various effects. One of the limitations is the lack of good effects though. Great for saving riffs when you're noodling or coming up with song ideas. Sound quality is excellent and the pedal is small and easy to operate. I like the fact that I can transfer riffs back to my computer and use them in Garageband. The app is disappointing ,however, does not function as stated. Editing clips just doesn't work. Used an old midi control pedal I had along with my ancient G-Major effects. Decided to upgrade the rig and go back to the G-System. This new G-System is a 3rd Generation unit with superior input buffering. This item was returned in mint condition. it is free of any performance issues, and has no scratches, blemishes, or other cosmetic flaws. eyemaster metal distortion brings back the original metal credo of “loud and brutal” with its “simpler-than thou” 2-knob operation. just set the volume (all the way up, right?) and adjust the gain (anything less than all-the-gain is sacrilege) and start riffing. eyemaster was specifically designed to channel the swedish death metal tone, endearingly nicknamed the "swedish buzzsaw." as that term implies, eyemaster is not a subtle overdrive. it is not transparent and it does not “sit well in a mix”. rather, it burns an unholy path straight through the mix.

This pedal is becoming harder and harder to find. Not many places carry it. Just happened to check Sweetwater and they finally had em. This pedal is so worth $. It's not an exact HM-2 but it's brilliant in its own way. Fantastic with low tunings. Just out right addicting to play. This pedal is so heavy and solid, you could end a dinosaur with it. Love the Entombed tribute. Grab one as soon as you can before they disappear for months again.
The cheaper way to go if you love the guitar tone from the original Boss HM-2. This Eyemaster pedal is named after an Entombed song off of Wolverine Blues, this pedal was specifically designed to achieve that identical tone. Build quality is solid, the metal frame around it is bare metal so it will get worn over time if you move things around often. We all know the cult status of the Boss HM-2 pedal, used for terrible war crimes in the 90's. Known to be used by bands like Entombed and Bloodbath, the HM-2 was dimed in front of an already overdriven amp. That sound is the sound we've had a love/hate relationship with. Since then the Boss HM-2 has risen in price and is currently a very expensive way to achieve such sounds. Enter the Eyemaster, which sounds almost exactly like a dimed HM-2. For 1/5th of the price no less. The sound is untweakable, it's always dimed, and you can only control Gain and Volume. If you're into the old school death metal sound, this is a great reproduction. If you want more options, for example to sound like the other users of the HM-2 (Eric Clapton for example), then this is not your pedal.

I was really surprised at how good this amp sounds. Years ago I tried Line 6 and was not at all happy with the tone; but this is another story. It does take me awhile to dial in a specific classic rock tone, but when I do, it sounds better than any other amp that I've tried. I have tried the Marshall Code, Blackstar id Core, Vox Valvetronix, Boss Katana; as well as some all tube amps. The only other amp that is a close 2nd is the Fender Mustang GTX; also a great amp. The Spider V is fairly easy to operate. It offers lots of choices for amp models and cabinets. I like that it has variations of a mic'd cabinet. The parametric eq is a plus. I haven't played around too much with the effects yet, so I can't comment on that. The only negative thing I could say is that when you're editing a preset and want to hear how it sounds before you save it, you only have a short time before it goes back to the Home Screen. This really is a small price to pay for the quality of the amp and all the versatility it has. I like the App too. Musicians Friend got me a great on this as well; and their agent is following up making sure that I'm satisfied. The funny thing is that I came across this by accident. I placed an order for a Peavey amp that was on back order. I called Peavey multiple times, but they never returned my call. I also emailed them, but they didn't respond to that either. As far as I'm concerned, Peavey doesn't have any customer support.crrkr

Nice and loud, but no real basis of comparison to say if clarity is better or worse than other comparable amps. Don't likes- The micro-usb interface. I had to get an adapter and it's just not as good a connection as nearly anything else would be. IMHO, micro-usb is far too flimsy. Connecting to PC is far more problematic than just using the spider mobile app. It's probably a little more complicated than it should be for a beginner, but it's feature rich for the money.Nic T
I had a Line 6 120w amp for years that I regrettably sold a while ago and was looking for another amp. I looked at all the amp reviews I could find and decided that the new Katana was the way to go. I got the Katana home and absolutely loved it but the second day I had it it started a really loud buzzing that I couldn't stop. It probably was an easy fix but the fact is the amp was way too powerful for my purposes and their software wasn't compatible with the new Catalina OS. I returned and started looking again. I saw the 60w Spider V and the price was excellent so I made an on the spot decision to buy another Line 6 and I'm really glad I did. The tones this amp can get are incredible. There are so many amp models and cabs that you can dial in pretty much any tone you want from a crispy snapback country clean to the most vicious heavy metal and everything in between. You can use the presets as they are or you can use them as a baseline and tweak to your own liking or you can start from scratch and build your own rig from the ground up. The controls are intuitive and easy to use but there are some features where you'd have to be a professional to really know how to use or even care to use. The software and the mobile app are so easy to use and give you all the options at your fingertips. The amp comes with a lot of presets that I find are completely useless but there are a lot that are excellent as I already talked about. There are only four empty slots for your own custom presets and I wish there were more but if you use the mobile app you can have your own tone library on there. I bought the FBV3 foot controller so that gives me a lot of flexibility to have various effects. One of the limitations is the lack of good effects though. There's enough that if you work at it you can get a decent sound but there could be some better ones. Overall I would recommend the amp. Love this amp. I got it for a portable grab and go that's loud enough to be heard over drums. It's a million times easier to move than my head and cab, and it's plenty loud when you crank it. It was easy dialing in tones in both channels. The clean channel is good, but not spectacular. The reverb choices help a lot. I'm not a reverb guy, but I actually love the reverb on this amp. If sparkling cleans are your priority get a JC120. The dirty channel is a monster. Add some hall reverb and you have a killer Van Halen tone. Turn off the reverb and you have Pantera up the wazoo. The voice of the world speaker sounds pretty decent. As you turn up the amp the tone stays generally the same, and doesn't get muddy. I put a Celestion 75 watt creamback, and a heavy gauge speaker cable in mine and it's phenomenal sounding now. Fat and full at low volumes, and when you crank it the punch and clarity get better the louder you go. Get this amp. Sounds great straight out of the box. Upgrade the speaker and you'll have a pro grade sounding amp that will destroy anything in its path.Lank Dangle
This is stellar I had no idea just how good it would be. Looks great in black – I was so close to an orange Orange but a just preferred the understated looks of this… The clean channel is punchy and I've had no trouble dialling in a great bright clean sound with my Les Paul on 10 its just before break up my Tele sounds sublime through it. The dirty channel can go crazy, but that's not my thing. I've got a nicely screaming tone available but tend to roll the guitar volume back to 7/8 sounds good… cleans up around 6 and is very useable. It's a keeper the reverbs are good I'm running around 2 maybe just 3 using plate. The master volume is good dosen't suck the tone when low so very useful for playing at home. I've push some drive pedals into the front but I love the dirty channel so have been using that on its own. With my looper I'm using the dirty channel creating a loop with the guitar vol backed off and then pushing the amp with the guitars vol control for lead. it's so much fun sounds ace.Nicholas C.

I've played for 44 years on stage, recorded, collected guitars and amplifiers, I am a guitar tech, sound engineer, touring musician, also I have one set of ears! I have played almost every giggable amp made, and every guitar sound from humbuckers to single coils. I love this amp because in one beautiful box at 60w I can get almost any sound that I want, I dont care if I can plug into a toaster through a 4×12 cab, if it sounds great, it is. If your guitar is set up, your cables are good, your amp is properly grounded, and your strings are clean, you do not have to get into the I need 21 pedals thing, just plug in, maybe have a few pedals, and turn it up!!!! Tubes sound great, but with all the pcb problems a lot of amps do not have the mojo that they did back in the days of craftmanship. This amp is the modern choice for me, at a great price, It sounds fantastic, no tube swap, failure, pcb burn through, or babying. This amp reminds me of old tube amps I played in the 70s that were made in the 60s get one, I got mine price reduced. It's not the greatest amp ever but the sound is absolutely amazing and, most importantly, versatile. You can get so many sounds out of this thing that you realistically wouldn't need any other amp for gigs or recording unless you're an audiophile/perfectionist. Almost any band sound that you'd like is just a community created patch away, it's truly incredible, as long as you have a PC/Mac/Android device plugged into it. The sounds that are built in are still amazing, just a little limited and require some learning to use the effects. Still, you won't find anything near this price that gets you the same quality sound, volume, or variety of uses. The learning curve is nothing compared to the thought and cost of trying/buying dozens of guitar effect pedals – which you can still do, or even use this as an amplified cab for your preamp of choice. If you have a few hundred dollars to try something new then it's worth it. Also worth it if you're looking to upgrade from a practice amp, or need an amp to gig, or don't have the money for pedals, or need to record on your computer, or many other situations. BOSS created the product like a boss, and confirms it's the boss on this market. I own the old 50 watt Katana and the Katana Mini. Both are great. Just bought the Katana 100 mk2, and yes, after whole day spent on setting and playing – I love it. Whatever you need – crispy or warm cleans, crunch or hi-gain sounds you will get it from this amp. Bit ugly, but fully working BOSS Tone Studio software for setting each aspect of this amp and available effects). Total 9 presets (channel Ax4, channel Bx4 plus "Panel"). Combined with switchable effects quite ok to play a gig. Considering the price/value ratio this amp is an unbeatable champion on the market. I bought a week ago KATAlist from some multi-Line company, and I am sending it back. That thing is good only for couch, while Katana is great for practicing, recording and life shows (assuming you will buy the foot controller). To summarize: – great sounding – very flexible – very nicely priced – relatively small and lightweight You can't go wrong buying it.
Paired this head with my Zilla Cabs 2 x 12 and the sound quality and versatility is excellent. I have 4 well known valve amps, but I find that the Katana is more useful for home playing and practice, mainly because it's easier to get good tones from it at home volumes. It's handy having the Boss effects built in, certainly some of my dedicated pedals sound better but for home practice and recording, the Katana is a simpler plug and play solution. This is a great example of something that conforms to the 80/20 rule, if it does 80% of what I need, why waste time chasing down that other 20%? In fact, I'd say it's more like 90/10 in this case, the Katana MkII is a a great Swiss Army Knife of an amp.

I’ve known about these for years but never pulled the trigger until now, I wished I would’ve gotten it sooner. I ordered the Yamaha on Saturday afternoon and it arrived on Tuesday morning, great job AMS! I opened it and immediately plugged in my SG. I was very pleased with the sounds from this amp. After watching many reviews I thought I’d skip the clean, crunch and lead channels, I went straight to the Brit hi and Modern channels and I wasn’t disappointed! Studio quality tone and very responsive to volume controls on the guitar. Most importantly, this little amp makes you want to play – highly recommend it!

Overall: I have been wanting to leave a review of the THR5 for awhile now. Prior to purchasing it, I had used a 10-15 watt Orange Crush Amp & a Blackstar Debut amp. Neither of those 2 amps were exactly what I wanted but for the price, served a purpose. I was hesitant on purchasing the THR5 because it was twice as much. I have no regrets. If you have not had the chance to try the THR5 in person, video reviews will not do it justice. What I was looking for was a small amp that had sufficient effects built in so that I didn't need to hook up any pedals during an impromptu practice session. The Hall reverb is my favorite and was worth the price alone if it was the only reverb included. All of the amp models sound great, although I tend to only use the clean channel or crunch. Crunch can be toned down to remain clean but adds saturation without becoming distorted. Another bonus was that with the included software, additional compression and gate effects can be adjusted via a computer. These can be set as defaults for when after the amp is unplugged from the computer. I have used it with pedals and loopers as well. Its built well, metal casing. Aesthetically pleasing to sit on a shelf. Extremely lightweight and portable. Honestly this is the best practice/bedroom/portable amp that I have ever owned. I have always appreciated TC Electronic for the great effect boxes that they make. Each one is built like a brick house, and this Hall of Fame 2 is no exception. Anything from gated reverbs to reverse are available in this easy to use package. I use mine primarily for my Moog Subsequent37 to enhance the sounds on it even further and I'm always pleased with the results. I also have the smaller Hall of Fame that I use with my Marshall top, but I think you can expand even deeper with this one. The other thing that I love about their products is the availability of the TonePrints, and there are many to chose from. There just seems to be no end of what type of sound you are looking for when you use the Hall of Fame 2 in your arsenal of effects. I am very pleased with this purchase and, as always, I'll be looking forward to more in the future. Sweetwater always treats me right when I order anything from them and I kind of like the candy too. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking to expand their horizons and, of course, if you have any questions about anything, contact your Sweetwater Sales rep, because they have the answers you need.
Needed a reverb pedal as my recent amp purchase, Marshall Origin 20H does not have onboard reverb. Decent sound from subtle to cavernous. AN expression function on the switch adds more versatility. As a professional recording engineer I've been familiar with TC Electronic for decades. I've used TC Electronic gear for a long time in the studio and have always found it to be the best of the best. However, as a hobbyist guitar player I was not as familiar with TC pedals as I was with pedals by other manufacturers (MXR, Dunlop, Boss, Ibanez, etc…). I've been looking for a good reverb pedal to run in my FX loop because the reverb built into the amp is pre FX Send and since I play with tons of gain I have a gate (TC Sentry – also amazing) in the FX loop and the gate was cutting off the reverb tails. I considered a variety of Reverb pedals but ultimately decided on the TC Hall of Fame 2 for several reasons. First, TC knows reverb, their System 6000 reverb is 13,000 without the remote, 15,000 with the remote. And they are using algorithms from the System 6000 in the Hall of Fame 2 – pretty cool. Additionally, with Tone Print capabilities you get unlimited preset options and the ability to design your own Tone Prints. This is an incredible powerful and amazing sounding pedal. I have played through the almost decade old THR10c, which is a fantastic little amp. Through a SM57 in front of it and out to the PA and you can sound great. But I thought that by now, with Yamaha buying Line 6 about 5 years ago, the newest version of this little amp would have some state of the art effects. Wrong! The effects, and the apps that control it are seriously out of date. I mean, the reverb, tremolo and chorus are fine. But they remain exactly as they did ten years ago. No upgrades and nothing fancy. The app is poorly designed and not that easy to use. and there is no way that I have found access the THR10C classic blues models all in one place. So its actually hard to get the classic blues and country sounds that I need all in one place. I went back to my THR10c and sold the new one.Bruce
dial in your sound in seconds not minutes, I look at it and then I want to play my best, those amp lights man, wow, dim the lights you will see. No instructions needed. if you need to move some Air for clubs shows or band practice this is not the one for you. What it does is creates a killer vibe for personal guitar growth, very organic and the tones? Man, you have got to play through it to believe it. It will cover any genre and crash most all the competition in the personal practice amp catagory. its about quality tones at lower DBI, it's not a marshal and it doesn't want to be. You can boot this sting up 3 at night and sound like your at an arena in your bedroom without waking up the neighbors and your flat-mates. No getting up or leaning over the amp to adjust setting like a marshal. No LCD's to mess with with or crummy menu diving. Traditional Bluetooth audio is pretty decent for using the amp speaker for guitar youtube vids and playing along instrumental tracks. Someone else said terrible sound, what??? you have got to be kidding me, id call that person an amateur guitarist. the biggest stars have these in the studio, tour buss and green room, hotel room. amazing for writing sounds, its the sound you have always wanted without going deaf sounds good anywhere. saves your hearing from the ringing. if you want to expand this sound on stage get the 30 which has proper outs for studio and stage, and re-amp it. leave it on a partially cleanish tone for your genre, then output to normal amp setup, the smiles will come. Of course many are still going to need their volume pedals but in a lot of situations, if you know how to gain control and then crank it for a lead/ chorus, (id drive it out to the mains / monitors for ramp) but it sounds amazing as you turn it up, the character truly changes, for the better. it's pretty wild. its pretty good about feedback. iv heard people hook these up on tour or use them in the greenroom preshow, it's that good. stick with the new models that are lighter and sound better. these are industry standard personal practice amps. again, if you are gigging you will need some sound reinforcement, but I would find a way myself, it's just not that hard to figure out. it's never fed back at me once and I'm jamming right infant of the cab on me desk. no surprise loud feedback sounds like other amps. small, light goes anywhere. probably need that case if you travel a lot. metal, country, hard rock, pop, blues jazz, hip hop, it nails it. the 30 could drive your current big amp. whatever magic is going on with the sound, full gain w guitar at full gain, is something that has to be heard not seen.J
Upgraded from the original cream colored THR10 after finding out that all three of the original THR10 amps (boutique, classic, and high gain) were consolidated in one amp and that the speakers underwent an upgrade (10W->20W). Sonically, the tones in this amp are superior to those of the original THR10, which makes practicing and playing very satisfying and inspiring. Note: Boutique and high gain amps can only be accessed through the desktop or mobile THR remote app. This isn't the case with the larger THR30 amp. All amp models can be access through the unit. The remote app also allows the user to change cabinets to further tweak tone. Here is why I rated this product 4 stars. * Mobile THR remote app crashes all the time. I've been using the remote app on my laptop exclusively. Yamaha rep informed me that this tends to be the case with iPhone users. Doesn't seem like they plan on fixing this anytime soon. * Setting the unit up as an audio interface was not clear at all. The original THR amps required downloading the yamaha steinberg usb driver and selecting this as your driver in your DAW. After configuring your MIDI and audio source in the DAW, you would then get sound. Well, that's not how it works on this amp. I reached out to yamaha after repeatedly getting errors from my DAW about the yamaha steinberg usb driver. Long story short, tech service couldn't figure out the issue and told me to request an exchange for a new unit at GC. After hooking up the new replacement, I got the same error. Turns out you have to download the ASIO THR10ii/30 driver on yamaha's site, not the most current yamaha steinberg usb driver. Select this driver in your DAW. Then you have to go into the app's settings and check the box for "record dry." Now you can configure your MIDI and audio source. I'm baffled about how yamaha's own techs did not know that the steinberg usb driver is not compatible with the THR10ii/30 amp.Ben G.

I just bought this amp with the Line 6 FBV short board; they work well together of course. The amp is a lot of fun with the looper and presets and the endless ways you can tweak your tone. I love the amp but there are a few things which could be better. You must use a 2 gig or smaller SD card or it reboots if you try to save to a bigger card. So just get a bunch of small Sd cards before they are unavailable–only a few places still have them–which is kind of a pain. It does record nice but I haven't figured out how to record the mic input and the guitar input at the same time, so I always have to do two tracks. There is a switch which switches the input for recording back and forth from mic input to guitar jack. With the short board you can turn the looper and presets on on the fly, but you must put the foot pedal in the recording mode, and when the FBV is in the record mode you have to switch it back to channel mode to switch different guitar tones. So to switch to a different guitar tone you have to do another track to reset it. Anyway, I just thought these few drawbacks could have been easily figured out and fixed. Hopefully the next generation can take the more available SD cards, record more than one track at a time, and make the FVB do all the functions in one mode. However, it's nice having all the gimmicks for having fun in one package. Even thought I give it four stars instead of five, it "is" worth the low price, and I would buy it again knowing what I know now.Songwritunfool
The Line 6 spider jam changed my life in many ways. First and foremost you can save every idea that you come up with! 2nd it helped me to become a songwriter, it has everything you need so you dont have to rely on other people showing up to practice. Its allowed me to put the time into writing that I never could before, because face it most people dont want to rehearse 7 days a week, or even 5 for that matter! If you are looking for a versatile and fun practice amp that you can record and gig with, this thing Rocks. I am primarily a bassist and just learning how to do leads on guitar and this amp fit the bill perfect. It does not have the warmth of a top of the line tube amp, but I did not need that as an intermidiate player. This thing has pretty awesome effects and tone varieties for about a couple hundred varieties and most I will never use. You can record, you can plug in a mic or a bass, you can jam tithe rhythm tracks, it has headphones so you play without waking the wife or neighbors, and a built-in tuner! That is just what I have discovered so far! The price makes this the perfect amp for practice, recording, and even small venue performances (half way up on the master and it is loud!) the only thing is it takes time to figure out and discover all the tones and capabilities, but that is also half the fun! Also the clean tones are good but not great. The distortions are fantastic! Not that the cleans are not useable, but they are bit thin for me. HIGHLY recommend!! Have fun!DFW_Bassman65
