I get a variety of good, useable tones out of this one box. In fact, this has replaced the distortion patches I was using on my trusty DOD Bass 30 entirely. To say that I am happy with any stock stompbox is a big deal, because I have only a few left in my collection that I haven't modified the circuitry in to better suit me. This is one of the few originals, and that says volumes. I step on mine regularly, and haven't had any issues with it. I'm not a bass player, but I play one on my records. I've been playing lead guitar for 20 years, and I know good sounds. I say this to inform you that my credentials are in good order. You can get any sort of growl you want, thick or thin- and as much or little of the clean as you need to retain the punch at the same time. The only thing I would change is the color of the box… Since that has absolutely nothing to do with the sound it makes, I'm fine with it. Seriously, I was skeptical too when I saw the price. I got this a while back to add a some gain to play a bit of metal with a bit of overdrive on top as well as fattening the sound of the bass. Unfortunately this will never give you a "smooth" gain sound like having a guitar amp's gain around 2. Having gain down all the way shuts off all sound to the amp, and having it around 2/10 puts on a harsh brittle overdrive no matter the EQ. Sounds a little better with flatwound strings. This pedal goes all out or nothing. If a "Hysteria" sound is what you're going for, this will do it but not a true amp low/med-gain sound.Fear

Really solid preamp with three programmable channels. in good working order and fair aesthetic condition — i'd put it at 6/10 there. there are scratches on all sides of the casing, hook velcro on the back, and i removed the rear battery compartment door so that the pedal sits flat on a pedalboard. the #1 footswitch sticks occasionally, but it was nothing problematic for me during the two years i had it on the road. comes with the original box, though the box has definitely seen better days.

I was recommended this bass preamp almost 20 years ago. I've been through a TON of boutique equipment since then, trying to find 'my sound' and figured..what the heck, let me give this pedal a try. It makes EVERYTHING sound better! If you play on other peoples rigs from time to time, bring this!!! You'll be so much happier you did! You can find 'your sound' on almost any rig with this little guy. I'm a gear snob, I like 'my sound', which is clear, clean, and with a little bit of tube breakup while grinding in on my jazz. My sound is a cross between Flea and Marcus Miller. My boutique equipment gives me this on its own. When I'm forced to play a Behringer single 15" cab with no tweeter and no usable EQ because its the backline, the Sans Amp will be definitely utilized that night! Do yourself a favor and grab one of these pedals! Even if you keep it in you bag as a backup DI. Here's why I love this thing. First, I prefer passive basses. Second, when gigging I need fast access to three basic tone signatures — a mid-boosted one for a balanced mix with the band, a bottom-heavy grindy one for heavy lifting, and a scooped one for funk and solos. Program those in, and good to go, with the option to tweak them a bit for conditions without permanently altering the setting. Third, after years of lugging heavy, bulky head units I now feed the Sansamp into a 1000W ultralite power amp and have all the headroom I need, without the pain. Fourth, whenever I meet a new sound man at gigs the first thing I hear is "Sweet, a Sansamp DI." Fifth, hand-built like a tank in NYC. I'm sure I can list more, but you get the idea. I've got both the GT-1 and the GT-1B units and they are so different. I don't know why, but I find the bass unit much easier to use. The effects shapes that you want are so much easier to dial in. Maybe it's something to do with the distortion types that each unit tries to emulate – you get loads on the GT-1 and only a few on the GT-1B. And the amp emulations too – you get maybe 1/2 – 2/3 on the bass unit. What I would say is that it is well worth spending some time doing a deep-dive of the sounds you can get out of this unit. There's not much help here, you will have to grind to get the sound you want, but it probably will be there somewhere. The Boss Tone sounds lab will only get you so far and there really aren't any shortcuts that I've found to the sort of tone I want for any specific patch. It's worth spending the time noodling around with the unit and at least you can set up a load of blank presets by whatever category you want (I set up amp emulators in 10-set batches). Would I buy it again? Yep, absolutely. If you asked me that about the GT-1, I might not be so sure.Cat F.
The BOSS GT-1B is a really great piece of kit. Was obsessing with synth pedals but couldn't decide which one and then would require an expression pedal etc. The Boss SY-1 doesn't offer presets. I'm pleased with the GT-1B – many many possibilities for designing patches, built in expression pedal & 99 presets. Loads of PROS – Great value. The potential options for combining effects is vast. The build is great, knobs & buttons work easily. I dont use it as a standalone but combine with some analogue pedals, which is a good set up. Still saves plenty of space on pedalboard. CONS – you have to put some graft to get familiar with the software and best usage. There are instructions for the basic operation, using the buttons/dials on the unit but to get the full hang of the software for assigning parameters within patches, BOSS do not supply much info. There are some useful vids online though and chat on talkbass etc – Octave fx doesn't always track brilliantly. Is OK and perfectly usable, but not long sustain. – The Synth fx can be a bit OTT & erratic, if up too high. But great synth type sounds achieved with combining envelope, fuzz, octave, wave etc I haven't used any other effects processor so can't directly compare, but the unit has more than surpassed my main reasons for buying it. This is my favorite piece of equipment in the studio and Live. It is the greatest for mastering recordings to CD. When finalizing a mix you need to hear the mix at loud volumes on loud hi fidelity speakers to see if the hi end is not too harsh and the lows are not to muddy. The included Ultramizer Fx is a sonicmaximizer 2 band compressor that keeps the mix contained and averaged. Best I ever used and I've used a lot. You can set an average RMS signal which keeps peaks from jumping into red DB range and distorting. This thing really polishes the mix. A one time setting tuned to your speakers is all you will need. I use it live and it doubles the volume of the pa by keeping the average RMS signal intelligently and transparently containing a full sound. Our ears hate harsh hi end at loud volumes and the Ultramizer contains them while pumping up bass which our ears love as per the Munson Fletcher Loudness Contour Curve effect. It also protects speakers by stopping abrupt dynamic bursts that can blow up your speakers. After setting up your speakers with the virtualizer just pushing the in out button will blow you away at the thickness and polish of the mix. Set the crossover freq at 2.5 k. Djs use sonic maximizers to get that pumped up sound. This is 10 times more effective. Also the Delay Reverb multi is smooth and articulate. I have 3 in my home studio. I can say you have to hear it to appreciate what it does. Best mastering tool ever. Best PA tune up sound maximizer. You can shove the master Faders into the red and even at maxed levels in the red it stays Crystal clean. So many nice stereo fx you will be using it all the time. Even as a delay reverb it is perfect for a fine tuned live mixer and you will love it. It is a pitch transposed and can really beef up the love end if the bass. I might be a bit late in writing this review, I've had this thing for 20 yrs. now and it hasn't changed much in design much at all. After 20 yrs. I'm still finding new combinations of effects I hadn't used before. One of my favorite effects is vinyl which makes a scratchy vinyl record sound, it's a nice recording effect to start or end (or both) a recording with. I also like running a drum machine (when i use one) through the enhanced effect give a nice, clear, sharp sound. Although this would be my first effects processor ive bought and dont have anything to compare to it, Im really happy with the purchase. After opening the package I noticed its very light weighted, and easy to carry around. I plugged it into my Behringer mixer and it worked great. The interface is designed nicely, and the knobs turn smooth. I mostly just bought it for the reverb effects and they have some pretty nice reverb presets that ive been using, but it only comes with about 12 or so. I will say there is a ton of effects ill never use on this device. If you are looking for a cheaper way to get live effects, I dont think youll be disappointed with this unit.jaki-6278

I have used the Digitech BP200 for several years as a practice tool in my bass playing. The BP200 is a great value for the money. Many multi effects pedal do not have several of the features that the BP200 has , like access to add cd player and a headphone option. I also found more usable effects than many higher priced models, along with a drum machine and built in tuner. I was lucky enough to purchase one in excellent condition for $45 with free shipping. This is a fine unit that has tremendous functionality and given some time and effort there is almost no tone that cannot be extracted from this unit. Unfortunately Line 6 goes out of their way to make it an unpleasant experience. Unless of course your willing to fork over more money for software that other companies would give you for free, or at least substantially less than Line 6 charges. You shouldn't have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a unit followed by hundreds more for some software to get the most out of it. For a nine year old effects floorboard, this is a great value for someone (like me) who wants several effects without spending $100-200 per pedal. Line 6 is generous with this one, Ive only had it two weeks and theres still plenty of sonic discoveries to be had. Cant compare it to Line 6s new units, but this one looks cool, sounds even better. Couldnt care less that it happens to be all modeling, I can plug a bass in, then in the blink of an eye pick up the guitar without unplugging from the bass amp and still get a huge stellar amp tone for ultimate chunder. This is a pretty good bag. The quality is excellent and it looks/feels like it will last quite a while. I bought this for my Line 6 Pod hd500x and it works "ok" for it. The bag could be a bit more snug so the Pod does not flop back and forth when you carry it. Length wise there is extra room and a spacer which allows you to carry some extra cables or a power strip, but I am talking about the snugness on the top and bottom. I may try adding an extra foam pad to see if this helps. I know this bag was not specifically made for the Pod so I can't fault it too much for not fitting 100%. Best price in town on a great little piece of equipment. Honestly, it's amazing what tech is doing these days. This unit is fully staged worthy and has nearly everything anyone could want. There is a learning curve to the unit but it isn't too bad. It isn't perfect out of the box but can be tweaked to preference. Many of the presets are great and as good launch point for sounds you are looking for. As for delivery, my unit came very fast. I think i waited 4 days for my order (which was 5 days earlier than initially estimated).Jeffrey
The GP-200 is a very flexible multi-effects/modeler whose price may suggest something of lower quality, but it's actually a great-sounding and fun unit. I play acoustic and electric guitar with an Acoustasonic Telecaster, and the GP-200 works great for both sounds. You get what's probably hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of amps, effects, and cabinets for a fraction of the cost. The factory presets probably aren't for most people, but the fun is in creating your own anyway. I definitely recommend using the PC/Mac software for this, as it's a little easier on the eyes and a bit more intuitive as far as the interface goes, but working with the unit itself just takes a little time and experimenting to get used to as the documentation isn't as detailed as it could be for the depth of options available. The acoustic guitar IRs are helpful for buffing up a standard piezo pickup; they won't fill anyone into thinking that your $200 guitar is a vintage Martin or whatnot, but they do bring a bit more depth to the sound. I find them a bit brittle-sounding, but perhaps with more EQ tweaking I could minimize that. I highly recommend this unit for people who want a good, flexible modeling solution without paying thousands. I haven't had the opportunity to play with big-name modelers, but this will definitely do the trick for most.Josh

As a bass player in a covers band, different tones and effects at needed for different artists. Really great fun researching a players sound and putting the effects into a patch. I found it easiest to hook up to a laptop using the free software, lining up all the effects, labelling it and adjusting some parameters. Then playing and rehearsing to adjust the sounds by ear. I got some great chorus sound for Guns n Roses, a decent Motrhead sound, and even some tricky Muse effects. Not to mention various mildly overdriven sounds and a really nice Classic Fender Precision tone. I purchased the Zoom B3n from MusiciansFriend when they showed up back in stock recently. I hoping that the 2.0 firmware upgrade from 2 months ago would be applied to current shipments of the product, but I received the B3n with 1.0 firmware. It was easy to install the device driver (although time patience is key), and the firmware upgrade went smoothly. The unit's basic sound performance seemed like an improvement from the base firmware, and more effects were included with the new firmware. I was also pleasantly surprised that the patch manager software was a breeze to download and use (Win7). In order to have everything available from Zoom to date, you have to use the patch manager to install the patches that have been made available over the past year or so. Patches are .zptc files, so custom patches can be shared and dragged and dropped into the software, and then onto your B3n. You can also use the patch manager software to backup or restore your complete unit, and the editing is a breeze. Swapping patch locations to organize for convenience can also be done more sanely in the software. I now have over 100 effects from Zoom, and 96 patches, all from Zoom, compared to the almost 70 effects and 75 patches initially received. I don't see myself needing to custom design that many patches, so having 150 available patch slots with up to 7 effects chained is great for me. I think Zoom did a great job considering the price point, but there is a learning curve, and you will spend several hours getting it together, so caveat emptor for sure! The snags are (1) the USB connector was a Micro-B, so luckily my son had a cable from his Samsung phone. Most equipment I have uses USB Mini-B. (2) The output impedance is 10K, so an output buffer may be necessary when inputting into lower impedances to avoid 'sound' changes from the B3n. (3) The 6 available pedal effects won't be accessible on the B3n unless you plug in and configure the Zoom Exp pedal. (4) HW/SW Learning Curve!StringBender
This unit has a great collection or really useable effects and simulators and the ability to chain seven 'effects' together is a huge plus. If you've ever struggled to get a chain of analogue effects to replicate the Muse 'Hysteria' sound, then worry no longer- a simple patch/preset on here will get you most of the way there. The interface is slightly confusing for accessing each of these in the chain, however, and takes a while to get used to. It is a metal body, with quality switches that work well and it feels solid and well made. The omission of a DI out is a bit annoying but not a deal breaker. The PC/Mac software isn't great either – you can basically just arrange the banks and patches on the device. Other applications for other multi effects allow you to alter the effects parameters and then save these to patched on the pedals. I hope Zoom look to enhance this software. All in all, if you want a single, portable box solution (with headphone out and aux in!) then this is a very good piece of kit.

Easy to work with, has a great soundstage to it and to my ears sounds better than Radial DI and plug-ins. Does have a little ‘woofy’ sound to it that a little post eq cut ( in the box) would help. But a great product to get that vintage bass sound. My go to bass sound for recordings! Recommend!
In my opinion, as a bass player since 1967, and a luthier/tube amp tech since 1973 Simon Keats at Origin Effects designs the best sounding pedals (reproductions of vintage amps & compressors) and are the highest quality pedals on the planet. I bought both Bassrig versions which duplicate their respective amps ( the '64, a Fender blackface Showman and the Super Vintage, an Ampeg SVT) which reproduce very accurately these amps from the input to the output jack, and both even have a cab sim on the XLR output. Used this through a JP bass cub bg120 amp and found the overdrive was noisy. Didn’t find the tone to my liking. The compressor just knocks back the volume way too much. Lots of effects, but doesn’t perform very well. Sent back for a refund as I knew I wasn’t going to get on with it.

Build quality on this pedal is great, tone control is super. Paired up with a big muff bass pi and you've got a great sound. The crossover switch is a great addition but not one I use as I'm running a clean amp and a dirty one, so the more effects the better on the latter! Worth noting, there's no battery. This probably won't be a problem as if you are considering it you probably have a power bank or some other wired power already. I have to say that I have owned & giged with the BP50… I used it for mostly the Amp mods (which are pretty versital for such a little guy), the Tuner (not great for outdoor gigs), and that I could use an EXP pedal (although parameters are kinda limited, they are very cool). The 4 band EQ and the fretless effect are the only other effects that I thought we're worth the price. Lots of useless stuff, slim-if-no parameter settings on most functions, make it a bummer. But overall little work to figure out, and pretty easy to use. Sturdy case for Plastic, the buttons are a bit cheezy though (one look inside will tell all. key work here is plastic… booo. Since this review is about the BP80 not BP50, I have to tell you that there is little difference. Not like I expected too much, just maybe a little more versatility in parameters or something. Nope, pretty much a let down. The aforementioned stuff and the fact this has a built in expression pedal (this does have some pretty cool functions of its own varing from the BP50, does increase the cool quotient) make it a sightly better choice than the BP50. Both are awsome practice tools, with built in drum machine and good tuning (pitch) control make this pedal ideal for the practice room only. Not super gig-worthy. The Battalion is great. Spent a long time trying to find the best distorted signal for my playing and finally found the right thing for me. Has plenty of options and a variety of other really useful features. The noise gate, although simple and the envelope being a bit too long is still really useful for it's intention. The Compressor is again basic but works as intended and gives the sound way more punch. The EQ is true and allows for a greater deal of control over the signal. Overall: I loved this pedal when I first got it. The tone was great, the distortion was decent, and the compression was nice. This being a DI was one of the main selling points for me as I run direct into a set of Bose systems for gigs. I rarely used the distortion, but always tone and compression.After about 5-6 months the distortion stopped working, it would just pop and cut in and out. Around 6 months after that the DI slot stopped working all together, which rendered the pedal useless to me outside of practice. Figured it would last longer for the price.

Sound: OK, so the pre-set programs are hit and miss for me. But that had to be expected, as I am not plugging a guitar into it, but rather a Korg RK100-S2 keytar. For obvious reasons, the cleaner patches, and patches designed around arpeggios sound decent, while the shredding metal patches sound like ass. I'm sure they would both sound good if I was hooked up with an actual 6 string. Features: The most useful feature as far as I'm concerned, are all of those knobs all over the front of the unit. They make it so easy to dial in the sound. Especially when compared to the all digital products like the GT-1. I had a GT-1B last year, and it was aggravating to modify sounds on the fly. The other most useful feature is the Tone Central app. OMG!!! Last month, I trashed Korg's design decision in their app for modifying the keytar's sounds. The window can't be resized, the lines of text are nearly microscopic, it isn't REMOTELY intuitive to figure out how to re-write the patches. Boss' Tone Central app is the EXACT OPPOSITE of all of that. Full screen, each effect section is on screen alone and has 3 different ways to modify the settings. Get things the way you want, name your patch, and click "write," then choose where you want it saved, and click "OK." It couldn't be simpler. Ease of Use: If the preset patches are hit and miss, the "manual mode" is why I bought this board. The keytar really needs some effects to come alive. This board is simply a placeholder until I can build a quality keytar/synth specific pedal board. Compression, delay, and/or phasers can add a lot of depth to my sound depending on what I'm currently using. Those dials make it super easy to get the sound right quickly. It does sort of suck that they are on the floor, but how could that have been avoided without bluetooth and a phone app? And, if that was the case, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place! Quality: I bought this "blemished." My guess, based on the condition of the box that the factory shipped to zZounds, is that this took a fall off of a shelf in the warehouse. One end of the box was mangled badly! Thanks to Boss' attention to detail in packaging, and legendary build quality, I got this product without a scuff, scratch, or dent for 20% off. I like that build quality. (Feel free to play football with some of those synth specific stomp boxes guys! *wink-wink*) Value: Before my fretting hand got too badly damaged to play bass anymore, I wanted the bass version of this product. I believe that it was discontinued, and I missed my chance. I got the GT-1B but didn't like working with it. When I saw that this was available, I didn't hesitate to put it into my cart. Only then, after the fact, did I realize that it was in "blemished" condition. I almost went back and put a new, full priced one in my cart simply because I didn't want the hassle of potentially returning a broken product. So, yes, I do believe this is worth the normal retail price. Manufacturer Support: In the 12 years I've been playing, I've owned several Boss products from tuners to metronomes to multi effects pedals and I have NEVER had to reach out for support. In my estimation, that's the BEST form of customer service! The Wow Factor: G.A.S.! I can't play guitar a lick. But I've bought guitars in the past simply to hang them on the wall. I can't say that I would ever buy THIS product if I didn't need it. But I'm sure that it will still find some place in my home studio, even after the actual pedal board is complete Overall: An easy recommendation for the guitarist on a budget. Depending on one's needs, stomp boxes and pedal boards can become quite pricey. Between this, the Tone Central app, and the hundreds of additional patches available there, if you can't get the sound you're looking for, the problem lies mostly with you.
I have been buying and selling multi effects for many years. I loved them all, even the silly ones such as the RP50, 505, ME30..too many. I guess my favorites were the Korg AX3000G(which I thought was ahead of its time) and the Digitech RP500(awesome reverbs, mods and filters),and even some Pods for their amp sims too. Yes yes.. they all had their short comings in different avenues.. Boss reliability is were a part of Ny early playing days since the 80s..and to this day, I use Boss single pedals almost exclusively as my main rig. I just love the simplicity of their individual pedals and this unit is the only one that comes close in terms of the logic of its settings. I love KNOBS, and the ME80 has plenty to go around with. SIMPLICITY is the key . No more scrolling up n down a screen on the floor which I can hardly see. Now is the ME80 the best sounding multi-effect out there? No sir! With all the current technologies which can produce units such as The Kemper, Fractals, Boss GT1000, and other high res IR capable units from Zoom and Line 6(including some very capable Chinese newcomers), the ME80 can be seen as kind of outdated to some, The ME80 is certainly not what the top guns use these days, especially when occupying an arena concert stages I'm sure(but I bet they still use one or two boss pedals in their rig lol)..Also, Let's not forget that the ME80 initial introduction day to the world was just about eight years ago.. shall we? But guess what, it's still alive and kicking! And that is exactly why you still see it here for sake in 2022 ar least until Boss comes out with some new monster that can handle the GT1000 chipsets and adding more KNOBS to its chassis. The ME80 is gorgeous, it sounds good, and it has a personality. It also has more to offer than its predecessors such as the ME50/70..I mean, the addition of a separate footswitch for reverb,EQ and a simple patch recall?? I would recommend this unit for any small club or a tight rehearsal space for a quick setup and a speedy wrap-up after a show, when it's finally time to go home, no patch cables required.I AM KEEPING THIS ONE FOR MYSELF! I don't want to program guitar effects. I don't want to read cheesy names for effects that I can't immediately recognize or understand. The young people like that stuff but I am old and old school. The ME-80 gives me my old stomp boxes but grouped on a modern platform. It is basically foot pedal controlled with a very nice expression pedal and 8 on-off pedals. The foot pedals work flawlessly. But the thing that makes this unit awesome is the knobs. You can turn a knob, set a value and get instant feedback on what you did and look at it anytime to see what it is set at. If you know stomp boxes then you know exactly how this thing works. It has by my estimation about $4K worth of stomp box effects and amp emulations. Whether you want an old Tube Screamer or a Big Muff Fuzz. This thing has it. And it has many new stomp box effects like the amazing Tera Echo, Harmonist, Freeze and a Looper. It has just about every effect you could want and you can play multiple effects at the same time. As far as I am concerned this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I am an original POD user. I still plug into the POD now and then. But the POD is history. The ME-80 is what I like today. I even commissioned a guy to build me an angled stand to boost up the knobs and pedal to make it easier for me to dial in changes. I had it painted orange to match my Orange Crush 35RT amp where I port the ME-80 output. Lastly, if you insist on being a programmer, they let you do that as well and offer a ton of presets online. You can hook up by USB to your computer and program away. Brilliant. The one down side… you have to buy an AC/DC adaptor for $30 or use up a lot of batteries. This has just brought new life to the bass for me. i've had the pleasure of jamming on it and it just dialed in tones i was able to get with previous gear. first, the bass scrambler nuances went from subtle all the way distortion of the bass in a way that can keep the tone of your gear transparent or (by dialing in different settings) saturate it for new sonic colors and complexities. it has been a game changer for me. the ultra low setting is one of my favorites as it hits just right out of speakers. ultra high can get a completely different tone that worked for songs i wasn't sure how else to get the sound i needed. condition shows little to almost no light marks, but want to be transparent for you all. i just found this pedal to be one that gave me a little extra grit and gave new tones i didn't have before to work with. overall, pedal is wonderful and i love it. feel free to message with any questions.

This box is terrific. My basses sound great through it and there is a wide range of tones available. The scrambler circuit is a real hayride. Im running an instrument, a mic and an iPod through it and it all works great. My cheap electric guitar even sounds worth keeping now. My issue is power. The battery is buried behind the back plate. Overall: I recently picked up an inexpensive Bugera rig for live gigs, which was great "oomf" for the price, but it didn't quite have the tone or character I wanted. Very flat sound, but affordable! Enter the SCR-DI! I wanted something with some crunch built in, that also had DI out. But the headphone out and AUX in on this definitely peaked my interest, as its always nice to have after-hour practice options. I plugged it into my head, and as soon as I switched it on I was in tone heaven. Even with the EQ settings all set flat, this box gave my bass tone that color and chunk I was looking for. Then of course with the Ultra Hi/Lo settings there's even more flexibility on how round, snappy, or smooth you want. The scrambler sounds great. I prefer the drive and blend both set to 12-o'clock, just to give some crunch on the top end, that gets more dirty the harder you play. Cranked all the way is almost fuzz territory. The paint job makes it look plastic but it's a rugged all metal chassis so I'm sure this'll be part of my rig for a while. Overall I'm super pleased with this. Highly recommended if you're in need of a DI box or just looking for an all-in-one solution to make your rig sound more Ampeg-ish.Alexander
Sound: The pedal has a buffered sound. When not using the preamp, you'll need to use another pedal to boost volume levels. That said, I love the tone stack. The SVT sound really comes through. I really like the way my bass sounds through it. Can't really say if the tone stack "colors" the bass tone. For my style and my current bass set up in praise and worship (Yamaha TRBX305 with Aguilar Super Doubles and a Seymour Duncan STC-3P), I begin with my EQ set to noon. If I'm using a lot of finger style that day, I'll boost the mids to about 1 or 2 o clock, and sometimes the bass to about 1 o clock. For slap and funk tones, I like to set the bass and treble to 1 o clock. and mids at noon. Features: I love that I can use it as a practice amp. We went through some struggles recently and had to get rid of a fender halfstack and found myself with nothing to practice with. This pedal made practice possible. I'm not really a fan of the overdrive circuit, and currently have a love/hate relationship with it. The ultra-hi and lo settings are interesting. I don't use the ultra hi boost, but the ultra low I'll use with overdrive to help make up for any bottom end I lose. Sometimes I'll use it too if I need thick bass for something slow but epic. My only wish is that I could have slightly better EQ controls, specifically with the mids, maybe a parametric sweep, or even a switch with preset frequencies. Ease of Use: Very easy to use. Beware, if you put a battery into it, it will buffer your signal even if it's off. I really like that I can unscrew the back pack without the use of tools of any kinds. The rubber pads underneath are designed to also function as thumb screws, very easy to take off and replace, which makes replacing batteries on the fly a very simple task. Quality: The pedal feels heavy and tough, but I cannot yet speak on it's reliability although it hasn't failed yet. Value: It's expensive but worth it. The Wow Factor: No real wow factor. It is a nice solid pedal but nothing crazy or particularly special about it. Overall: I love this pedal. My purpose for purchasing this pedal was to improve my bass tone. I figured the best way was to look for something I could use to split my signal between the stage amp and the house system at my church. I'm not a fan of the stage rig we use, so this pedal allows me to bypass the rig. The best part was the added unexpected bonus of total ground noise elimination! For some reason, utilizing the XLR output from the amp head to the house resulted in ungodly amounts of noise. I now get a cleaner signal to the house and can better control my volume (the stage rig is very old and has sensitive volume controls).Christian

I could spend all day yapping about this pedal…In my travels i've tried countless pedals, but got tired of having 'too many' pedals. The weight, the time it took to hook it all up. I also busk, or play where electricity isn't available, and wanted a setup where i could make one trip with everything, and keep the weight down. I've always been a fan of ZOOM products, so trying out the Multistomp series was a no-brainer for me. The 50G met all my requirements, and exceed them all after i got one and started using it. Tones that are as good as any higher priced pedal, the versatility is second to none, and the price is killer for what this pedal can do. I would say the the Bluetooth version was my favorite, then the 70CDR, then the 50G, with the 50G's new 3.0 update, the 50 G is now my favorite pedal…period. The 50G started with maybe 50 patches, now it has 172, and best of all it has the Exciter patch, which to me is required on any pedal board. All i can suggest is watch the countless demo videos of this pedal. I would recommend this pedal for any level of guitarist, i would also recommend the MS-70CDR, watch the demo videos of the 70-CDR vs Strymons…amazing I cant say enough good things about the 50G, i believe it's near the perfect all around pedal. The MS-50G pedal is first class. It is every bit as clean, quiet, and well built as the Boss pedals. It is not a replacement for the Boss line. Zoom pedals have a character of their own. Personally, I like the Zoom tone. But I'm not a guitar player. There is a great ~15 minute YouTube instructional video for the MS-50G. I got over the learning curve for writing and storing effects by watching this video, then I bought pedal. It replaces several pieces of my high quality studio gear when I need fast results that are of high level audio quality. Zoom delivers with this product. After I watched this video I purchased the pedal. I also like my G1X as a companion to this pedal. The G1X has a nice volume/expression pedal.Sean
I needed something for my living room and practicing while watching TV late at night without a full pedal board or multi-effects box. This along with a Boss RC-3 and a mini mixer for my wireless headphones provides everything I have in my studio at a mini level. The sounds are good enough. There are enough options in sound to play most anything. Eventually I'll try this little beast as a sub for my full pedal board and see how it works in a live jam. One pedal to do everything. It's not perfect but it is great. I wish Zoom would provide updates to it and a better manager. It's pretty old by today's standards and if Zoom provided updated files they would sell even more if these great little boxes.
