Overall: I bought mine from another seller that does not accept reviews, so I'm writing here because I've been a happy customer of zz on other purchases…When I first got the bass in January 2018, I thought it sounded like a harpsichord! I hated it. It took a while to appreciate the sounds that this thing is capable of. It's very bright and punchy- not dead and muffled like the other basses I was used to. It's unforgiving of sloppy technique. It has forced me to improve my playing. I think it is louder than other acoustic basses- but acoustic basses are not very loud relative to 6-string guitars.The construction of the body is amazing- the way they internally braced the beautiful outer skin oozes with quality and attention to detail. The construction of the instrument makes it a very good value for the money.I play it almost every day. It hangs on the wall in our living room and I bust it out to play along with the music and tv shows in the house whenever the urge strikes- which is often. This thing is high quality, durable and has no issues at all after nearly three years of frequent use. I deducted 1/2 a star on quality because the decorative white band where the body meets the neck has an amateurish craftsmanship- it's a minor point… The finish of the wood is still in perfect condition. The tuning hardware doesn't rattle at all and the guitar stays in tune for days. The electronics have performed perfectly and I really wanted that on-board tuner. When it's plugged in, the sound is just like it is unplugged, only louder. I'm totally impressed with the plugged in sound. It's hard to express how much I've come to cherish this beautiful looking and sounding bass. (I have the sunburst color and the finish is mesmerizing.)
There is no Quality Control whatsoever on these Chinese made Takamine’s…. The first Bass they sent me came out with the electronics not working correctly…the tuner didn’t work correctly… AMS with their great customer service sent me out another Bass right away…fantastic job Preston….but unfortunately it had the same problems as the first one…tuner wasn’t working the same way the first one wasn’t working… I own three other Takamine’s,including a 20-year-old Japanese six string …it is a wonderful guitar….save your money for a Japanese made Takamine…. don’t be afraid to buy a used Japanese made Takamine…much ,much better quality than this crap they’re sending over from China…Kraz Keith Ka$h

I wanted an electric bass that I could play on a whim without having to deal with an amp. Sure amping it is great but it's really a joy to just pick it up and go. I can sit in my backyard. I can sit in my front yard. I can take it down the street to the acoustical jam amp and worry free. I choose this Takamine for my fretted version for three reasons; the length, the reputation of the manufacturer and the reviews. It has a nice deep sound in the lows and a bright yet mellow sound all over. The action is just fun to navigate. And with that retro sunburst finish, it just looks good! I holds a tune better than I thought it would and the built in tuner is quite a convenience. This is a good choice for the backyard party or the stage.T

I bought this guitar about 7 years ago and haven't played anything that I like better. It tunes easy, plays good with very low strings, and holds tune for weeks. I play the crap out of it and rarely have to tune it with Elixir strings. I play two or three gigs a month and have only had trouble with the DSP electronics. They are great when it comes to features, but they shot themselves in the foot when they converted the 9 volt system to two AAs. They last about 6 hours and crap out (Energizer, Duracell, rechargeable, doesn't matter). Also, when using a Boss pedal tuner in line, the pedal tuner has trouble picking up the output and refuses to ever pick up the drop D tuning on the low E string. May be the guitar, may be the tuner. I also have the matching JJ signature 12 string that is an exact copy of the 6 string. I love this guitar as well. If you order it, don't order the DSP. You'll love the guitar, but hate the electronics.4x4Dually

The Takamine GB30CE is a performance level instrument. Good sustain, solid electronics, vibrant amped lows, acoustic feel and sound. It has reasonable projection unplugged. First used on a very active stage (in front of uncaged drums, near sub-woofer, front pointing hung speakers running hot) without any feedback problem. I wanted it to fill a niche with my 6 string bass, electric upright, and Ubass, and it fits perfectly in the mix. Like any full-bodied acoustic electric I've ever played, it must be played with a little bit more finesse than a solid body (slap is too harsh for it, in my opinion). Built in tuner is just okay; I prefer a pedal tuner. EQ, mid-shift and bass boost are all very solid. The neck is good, with no fret buzz anywhere out of the box. No noticable bridge-lift. Holds it's tuning well. It will be one of my workhorse basses.steverc999

I could not afford a Takamine Santa Fe model but I have 2 anyway. I love them both and the electronics are great sounding (Acoustic DSP AD-1). I do builds and repairs and have added a little to one of them that being turquoise I tumbled and polished then embedded around the soundhole. These are guitars you keep for your lifetime. I always advise players to leave a guitar in their stand so you will pick it up and play it a lot. Taylor guitar guys are crazy and leave them in cases in closets, that is no way to get better at playing and Taylors have thin tops that crack. Takamine (talk-uh-mee-nay) are built solid and worth every penny. NEVER leave weak batteries in the pre-amp and never leave them plugged in when not in use. Battery leaks will destroy the pre-amp.cravinbob
This guitar was set-up perfectly right out of the box. That has never happened before. I was fully expecting to have to do a little saddle and nut work, but nope. The action is perfect! Low and fast. The electronics are awesome. I play mainly through a PA system. Currently using a JBL PRX712 system through an Allen & Heath mixer through a TC Helicon VoiceLive3. The electronics allow you to tweak endlessly to achieve the sound you are looking for. Much more versatile than the Taylor Expression System (I have a Taylor 414CE). Unplugged, I give the edge to the Taylor…….plugged in….no comparison, the TSF48C kills it, and the action is better on the Takamine than the Taylor. I also have a Breedlove American C25/CRe-H fitted with the LR Baggs Anthem system. The Takamine provides much more control, and a more natural sound. There is nothing I can fault about this guitar. O.K. I have had the TSF48C for over six years now and I have no plans to depart from it. I play this Santa Fe mostly at Church for single songs on my Fender Acoustasonic Jr amp which sounds much better than the Church PA. The set-up remains low and smooth. Between this and my daily beater GJ72CE Tak I am set. The difference is that the Santa Fe is a milder tone and projection. The G body GJ72ce jumps out more and almost overrides the voice when playing alone, but in a group it holds it's own with anything out there.Dirt Dog

I recently acquired one of these. In both user experience and sound, its got a wonderfully upright vibe. Not loud on its own; it needs to be amplified. You can use the onboard piezo and cool tube preamp, they are waaay cool and sound great. I mic mine, because that sounds even better. It cannot really be bowed in a useful fashion as the body shape gets in the way, so dont expect that. And it plays like an upright, not like a guitar (even when youre holding it like a guitar, which works fine). So be prepared for that. Then again if you are looking at this listing you probably already are aware of those things. It also sounds better when played in upright fashion. I typically play steel string acoustics. I wanted a quality nylon string guitar without the wide flat neck of a standard classical guitar. This is it. Extremely well made with quality woods (no laminates) that has a great sound (both amplified and unplugged). It does not have a large body and projection is somewhat limited when playing unplugged but has incredible sound both amplified and not amplified. Can be played quietly when everyone else has gone to sleep, or can flood the house with music if they're awake. The action and intonation on this guitar was fabulous right out of the box and I didn't have to make any setup adjustments. In 1981 I had three guitars, two of them acoustics, and one of those was an Ovation Country Artist–a nylon-string guitar with a 14 fret, comparatively narrow neck. It was my first good guitar, but when I left for grad school, I kept only a Martin OO-18, and sold the Ovation. In the 30 years since, I have been trying to find a replacement, I tried various Ibanez and Yamaha guitars, but they didn't have what it took. Then, a couple of months ago, needing a brain break, I left work and took myself to the acoustic room at Sam Ash. There was another guy in there playing, so I looked for a quiet instrument, and took this one down off the wall. Immediately, I knew that it was special. The clarity of the tone, and the richness of the bass, it was all there. The other guy liked the sound too, and soon we were jamming and telling stories. Both of us tried other neoclassical guitars, and agreed that this one was best. I loved the guitar at first note, but when I looked at the price tag, I knew I could never own it. So I bought (online) a similar guitar, but it lacked the feel and sound of this one. My wife heard me playing, asked what I thought about the similar guitar I'd bought, and I explained that it wasn't the same. Then she told me to buy this one. So I did, And I have been playing it daily since then. The OO-18 is still with me and still gets some time, but right now my fingers itch to play and hear this one. Did it replace my long-gone Country Artist? Not exactly–this Takamine is significantly superiod to the Country Artist in all respects. Even if I don't play it plugged in 🙂Andy M_S

Overall, I'd say that I'm very happy with the guitar. It plays well, and it sounds great. I had to tweak it a bit, though. It had a respectable amount of bow in the neck when I received it. I've torqued most of it out, but I have the truss rod tightened as far as I dare to. The action is still a bit high at the 12th fret, but I'll take care of that when I change out the strings. It sounds very chimey and bright with no bottom end at all, hopefully a beefier set of strings will help with that. Skinny frets, I wish they were a bit more robust. String spacing (between pairs) isn't consistent between the nut and the bridge, I may notch the bridge a bit to eliminate that. Otherwise, it's a beautifully built guitar and a great value for the price. You won't be disappointed.
I had a cheap 12 string guitar for about almost two years. I had been playing corridos during this time. However, I had played guitar for several years. Mainly rock and other stuff. Well, after I got it, I could play all the solos I couldn't really play clean. I guess the other guitar really was bad, or this one is great. Funny thing, I had a really good player tell me to not buy this model but the more expensive one. Well, I'm glad I decided to go with this one. This guitar sounds great and it's extremely easy to play. The guitar stays in tune fairly well for a 12 string guitar. The action is low. I haven't tried it the electronics aside from the tuner which works fairly well compared to my snark. I do have a Taylor and Martin guitar, and the tone on this guitar is pretty clean.Juan

I was able to get this out of layaway for $240 less. I am very happy with this guitar. I have not played in a band for a while, but getting back into practice and plan to start back with some solo acoustic gigs. I typically play steel string acoustics. I wanted a quality nylon string guitar without the wide flat neck of a standard classical guitar. This is it. Extremely well made with quality woods (no laminates) that has a great sound (both amplified and unplugged). It does not have a large body and projection is somewhat limited when playing unplugged but has incredible sound both amplified and not amplified. Can be played quietly when everyone else has gone to sleep, or can flood the house with music if they're awake. The action and intonation on this guitar was fabulous right out of the box and I didn't have to make any setup adjustments. The moment I picked up this guitar and strummed a chord, I thought, "This is IT. It's the ONE I've been searching for…". It plays beautifully – just the richest, cleanest and crisp rich sound imaginable. It's perfect for strumming and finger-picking and even now, weeks later – every time I pick it up to play it, it still delivers that same "wow" factor that sold me in the store.
I record at home for my own entertainment. I used to be in a band when I was younger but I get a lot of pleasure doing my own thing. This guitar while not expensive sounds exceptional. This guitar has crispy sound right out of the box, I enjoy using it, it's a really fun guitar to use. At gigs this guitar will not fail you, it has great sound acoustically and connected I have no issue with this guitar at all no imperfections whatsoever. This guitar is pretty light not heavy at all, the inlays and really just the all around design and paint of the guitar is beautiful, this guitar is really elegant. before I brag on the EF341D , I want to brag on the staff at the las Vegas Sam Ash store. I purchased a Martin DC-13E Road series and decided the sound and quality was not to my liking. It had a strange resonation during strumming chords and plugged in to amp seemed worse. Maybe the type of wood it is made of or just me, and personnel likes. Anyway called the Sam Ash store and told them my dilemma, and honestly thought I would get the same Runa round I've gotten from other retail stores. I was wrong, I was treated with the utmost respect and understanding and exchanged the Martin for the EF341D without any Hassel whatsoever. The Senior Manager, Tony Giuffre was GREAT, he let me play every guitar hanging on the wall until I found the one I liked. Which turned out to be the Takamine EF341D. It sounds great through my old Fender Acoustasonic amp. I don't consider myself a professional guitarist , more like a hacker at best, but I perform at small venues and occasional wedding or Church service and Takamine makes me sound better than I am, and is a great quality instrument for my budget. So highest praise for Sam Ash, Tony Giuffre and Takamine. And please don't think I'm knocking Martin Guitars, I played on them many times and loved them, just didn't bond with the DC-13E this time .Anyway I would be hard pressed to go to any other music store ever again. When I'm sitting at home, my go to guitar is my Martin 000-28. If that guitar is not in my hands then I have my gn75ce in my lap. This guitar was playable and set up well right out of the box. Good enough that it's not worth the money to take to luthier to have it dialed in. I don't use the electronics on this guitar so I can't comment on that. As far as everything else , this is a well-constructed durable mid-range priced guitar. I'm quite pleased that I purchased it. it makes a wonderful addition my collection. It's a beautiful looking axe. I would highly recommend this guitar to anybody just starting to learn how to play or somebody wanting to add to their collection without spending thousands of dollars.Matthew Topp

This is an amazing guitar for the money. I've owned Martin D18's that didn't sound this good! I used to play Bluegrass at one time and at any given point owned 4 or 5 Martins. This guitar could sell for $1000 and it would still be a good deal. This guitar is loud and has great tone with a good punch, but can be mellow as well. I'm blown away with the workmanship, quality and sound. I defy you to find a better guitar for the money.Mike S.

I have always thought that the best low end guitars on the market, the most guitar for the dollar, etc. are Takemine's. This GD30 is a prime example of that. The quality in finish, tone and the playability are typical of an instrument one would pay a lot more for in other brands. For someone who doesn't want to pay a whole lot of money for a guitar but still wants one that is playable, looks good, sounds decent and will last a while, you really can't beat the Takemine.beau900

On the guitar, it feels and plays very high end. Upgrading from a budget beginner the difference is night and day. Very low action makes this easy to play. Solid top, D'Addario strings, built in tuner. Wow, I am beyond impressed. Worth every penny. On Walmart online, again awesome. This guitar was flawless and they actually sent the guitar foam wrapped in the hard case within a thick cardboard box. This is a precision musical instrument and it was packaged and handled as such.coben
