Seagull 12 String Acoustic Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

I had it for close to three years now, never once regretting buying it as I have with other 12-strings. It is very easy to do the barre chords, especially for an acoustic 12-string. Rather easy to go up and down the fretboard. It was set up fairly nice, I did have the bridge milled down a small amount last year. Another surprise to me was the bass end of it is not as passive as others seem to be. A person can clearly hear the bass notes when picked. The treble end does not seem to be as high pitched as some others I have had either. So the whole tonal ability is rather uniform, not favoring either the highs or lows. It certainly is not the quietest one I have had either, it can project the sound too. I have not played in a band for decades now, but have played at partys, and the local VFW a few times lately. The guitar seems to be my conversation piece. I never imagined WIld Cherry as a guitar wood, the Seagull co. knows what they are doing.Jack Flash

Bought it in London about 9 months ago and have bonded to it like no other guitar I have owned in the past 40 years. Incredibly easy to play for a 12 string. Fingers glide along the frets though it took my wrist a little time to adjust to the width of the neck. Rich, clean tone favors picking, but also fun to strum out a tune. I perform with it, and chill out with it quiet evenings at home. Equally good for both. Great value.Coop

I've looked long and hard at a lot of Guitars….Solid Tops…All Solid…All Laminated…Dreads..Jumbo's..Grand this and that.. And I had given up! .. I mean I decided maybe Acoustic wasn't my thing, But then this back order came in that I had total forgot about..The Seagull CH …."WOW" For a Concert it has a big voice, maybe not Jumbo bassy but a big balanced tone that has a special..tonal quality to it that just brings a smile to my face, This is one! and I don't even pay attention to the headstock lol Build is just perfect….I'm a Seagull convertCASD57

The single piece of fiberboard supporting the neck had totally given away and the headstock was the main support when the guitar was flopping from side to side. It was OK in spite of poor packaging. Next issue was the setup. Had a significant dip in the neck and action on high E string was over 8/64th. Loosened strings and truss rod, let it set in humidified room for over 1 day. Adjusted truss rod and got out my file to have a pretty flat fretboard and low action. Now it plays great. QIT pickup is better than most piezo systems. A Seymour Duncan Woody with Fishnan PlatinunPro EQ works better. Wish they offered it without electronics. If you haven't got the tools and setup experience, a local dealer can do it for you. All said and done, good guitar for the money if you have a little expertise and patience.Bob

Great, great sounding guitar for the money. Very well balanced and warm sound, perfectly responding to any dynamic, which is stunning considering the guitar still has to age properly. A pleasure to play and listen to. Aesthetically it's even more, absolutely gorgeous, especially the wild cherry back and sides, which they look spectacular. The satin finish is kind of sexy. That means Richard is maintaining is promises on selecting the best sounding/looking models. We had some trouble/delay on the shipment caused by the express courier and Richard has been kind enough to send me a free gift (which he was not obliged to do), to kind of compensate for a problem he didn't cause! That's service and customer care. I'll definitely consider buying from Richard again.Stefano m.

Overall: First of all this guitar is beautiful. It is unique and striking. It stays in tune. It sustains for days. The action is like an solid body electric. It has low action all the way down the neck. It was shipped impeccably. The chords ring out like a bell. The price is phenomenal. There is a reason I only buy from zZounds. Its because they let play while you pay. This is a company that cares about musicians because they are musicians. Anyway I digress. The neck is a satin finish that rivals my $2000 PRS CE. It is like butter. The nut which governs tuning (& staying in tune) is a Tusq nut, which is what I use to replace stock nuts on a lot of my guitars. ThIs guitar is made in North America, Canada specifically, not in an asian factory 7000 miles away. The body is slightly smaller than a dreadnought. I love it. Maybe hand sits directly over the sound hole because ts in the same position as in my electrics. I looked many times at similarly priced Taylors which are fine guitars, but I believed eve I made the best choice for me.Tony

Overall: It arrived in a slightly banged up box due to the neglegence of a federal shipping company whom i won't name. Luckily for me Godin ships their guitars in the most solid air bubble armor that I've ever encountered. Right out of the box this guitar was ready to sing, and sing it did. Without tuning I played an Emajor and to my surprise it was in tune. About 3 minutes later, after the previously mentioned chord finally stopped ringing, I plugged her into the soundboard and the tone was impeccable and clear. It's a solid guitar as well. it doesn't feel thin or cheap. The action is low and the neck is smooth. I had my worries from blindly purchasing this unique masterpiece but I am very glad I trusted the reviews and description of this angelic bird. It truly is as described, if not better. I don't think you'll find a better acoustic electric in this price range.Derek

I left a comment a few years ago. Now, after playing this guitar in many venues and different genres I will add to my earlier praise; this guitar sounds better and better, and now that is has some age in the wood the tone is more gorgeous. I've found that with a "back buster" sound hole cover I get a very soulful tone. I prefer it and leave the cover on all the time — especially with slide, the tone is really smooth. Again, you simply cannot find a better guitar in this price range and as I said before it stands up to all guitars in higher range. Plus I really like the autumn burst, matte finish. It really stands out in a crowd.Brian

I buy guitars based on two criteria: 1) Playability – low action, feel of the neck and easy to play sitting or standing. 2) SOUND!! – equal in priority to playability… tone, resonance, intonation and it sounds good both amplified and unplugged. This Seagull met those criteria for me and it also looks great! For reference, I own a Taylor 214e, Taylor Big Baby, Taylor GS Mini, Martin HD28 and several Yamahas, Fenders, etc. I love them all for different reasons. My daughter (who's also a musician) and I visited Guitar Center and I went around the acoustic room picking up various guitars and strumming them + playing some fingerstyle tunes. I kept going back to the Entourage and my daughter even commented about how great it sounded compared to the others. At the risk of my wife divorcing me for bringing another guitar home, I had to have one. The Entourage has quickly become one of my favorites and it sounds great, both acoustic or amplified. The tone is very well balanced – enough depth/bass on the lower notes and the high notes ring through clear with great projection and resonance on both. It really is an enjoyable guitar to play and I highly recommend it.Andy

There is nothing not great about me selecting the Entourage CW. After much research on the brand and a few "lap dances" at the local GC (dreaming on it, Youtube also), it was an easy choice for me AND for what I'm doing musically at this point in my life (60 years old, between any further band project that will doubtfully arise), she has the perfect tone for the 60-70's rock, 80-90's country, open chord creations, all that I lean towards. This guitar sounds awesome to me unplugged. I can feel the vibratory hum next to my torso. It is soft and whispering to my soul to "play me more often, Pops!" But plugged into my Roland Street Cube, with little adjustment, or my ancient PA, is when she comes alive. It is truly like no other sound from other guitars I've owned or researched online. For me, we are a lifelong match. Nuts and bolts? I have nothing bad to say about this acoustic guitar choice at all. I've been playing guitar and piano since the late 60's as a novice and intermediate performer, owned the $2300 Gibson J45 Standard a few years back, the Martin DX1RAE after that, many fine Yamahas, but my new guitar is the one I've fallen in love with. Good luck on your choice but choose wisely. These instruments of fine wood and steel need their rightful owner to come along and stay forever. Trust me on that. You will not find a guitar equal to sound or playability unless your ready to dish out around $2500 and this one is still better than those . I have a HD -35 and others but this one is just straight out said easy and fun to play . Plenty loud and a good mellow base and very balance sound making it ideal for your vocals . My vocal s have improve with this instrument due to it also clarity . Rosewood or mahogany their both super guitars . Not just by my ear but 17 others I jam with and each one as over 30 years playing experience . I have the straight acoustic of both models . When I need to plug in I use a seymour Duncan woody HC center hole pickup . Can't beat this pickup for loud true acoustic sound .Jeff

I had sent back a couple guitars with lesser sound and specs to more than one company, so this guitar is nice in rich tone and has characteristic lacking in some ones I didn't like as much. Rosewood Spruce is a nice combination so that's why I chose it. I also got an Cordoba Acero D10 also from Musicians Friend, also in rosewood spruce- two birds of a feather to hear these two guitars together in a duet. On The Seagull I put a Seymour Duncan Magnetic Pick-up which opens a whole other can of (good) spaghetti in terms of amplified sound pastabilities. A very good choice said to get better with time in the modest year and a half I've had it, I don't disagree, and we'll see after a longer time what will happen, it looks to be the case.Rick

After weeks of research, I landed on this guitar. There is not a Seagull dealer in my neck of the woods so I bought it without having played it first. I could not be more pleased with the sound. It has good solid bass but it doesn't overpower the mids and highs. It is exactly what I wanted. The action on the guitar, however, was so high out of the box that it was almost unplayable. Consulting the owner's manual, I read where one should not adjust a guitar unless one is a professional tech. This meant I had to get the guitar set up. I emailed Seagull informing them of the situation hoping to get some suggestion/explanation. The fact that they never replied tells me all I need to know about how they could deliver a product with such a bad setup. Bottom line: by the time you pay to have the guitar set up and purchase a hard shell case, you're very near the same cost of a Martin Custom D. The Martin comes with a case and is playable out of the box. That stated, having owned both,I can honestly say that I would not trade this guitar for the Martin.Roger270

Not on sound alone, but playability and tuning stability, it was more comfortable to play and it's all wood. This guitar has its own voice that I am getting like more and more, meaning it's bright, but the quality and tone reflect the all wood construction. It is best for fingerpicking, which sold me since at is mostly how I play. Great mids and high notes. Lastly, it's the best looking guitar in its class hands down, with very good build quality.Fingerpicking Good.

Vor kurzem habe ich diese Gitarre beim Musikhaus Kirstein bestellt und bin über alle Maßen begeistert! Versand/Verpackung Trotz Feiertag war die Gitarre innerhalb von vier Tagen bei mir zuhause. Sehr schnelle Bearbeitung und zügiger Versand seitens Kirstein und wie gewohnt pünktliche Zustellung durch DPD. die Gitarre kam im Originalkarton, in dem sie auch von Seagull (Kanada) an die internationalen Vertriebspartner versendet wird. Dementsprechend war sie so verpackt, dass im Karton nichts verrutschen konnte, aber noch genug Knautschzone durch die Polsterung vorhanden war, um die Gitarre zu keinem Opfer von Versandschäden zu machen. Aussehen und Verarbeitung Besonders auffällig ist der vergleichsweise kleine Kopf bei der mächtigen Dreadnought-Bauweise. Grund für die Wahl dieser Kopfplatte ist, dass die Saiten einen nahezu komplett geraden Weg vom Steg zu den Stimmmechaniken zurücklegen können. Dadurch bildet sich durch die "Wegunterbrechung" am Sattel kein allzu starker Winkel, was sich wiederum positiv auf Klang und Saitenhaltbarkeit auswirkt. Der Korpus ist hochglanzlackiert, was die Gitarre nochmal edler wirken lässt. Nachteil hierbei ist jedoch, dass man auf diesem Lack sofort jedes Staubkorn, jeden Fingerabdruck und jeden Kratzer sieht… Für den Klang der Gitarre selbst ist der Hochglanzlack jedoch nur von Vorteil. Insgesamt ist die Gitarre sehr hochwertig verarbeitet, es sitzt alles da, wo es sein soll: – die Buchse für den Tonabnehmer wackelt nicht und wirkt trotz des verwendeten Plastiks durchaus wertig und stabil – die Stimmmechaniken bieten nicht zu viel Widerstand und halten die Stimmung sehr gut – der Hals sitzt stabil und wackelt nicht – die Saitenlage ist optimal, sowohl für Zupf- als auch für Schlagbegleitung Klang Der Klang der Gitarre ist der Hauptgrund, warum ich mir diese Gitarre gekauft habe. Durch die massive Zederndecke (übrigens wie alle von Seagull verwendeten Hölzer aus nachhaltigem, unternehmenseigenem Anbau!) in Verbindung mit der Dreadnoughtbauweise sorgt dafür, dass die Gitarre mit einem insgesamt sehr warmen und weichen Klang daherkommt und die Töne schön lange nachschwingen können. Durch den großen Resonanzraum hat die Gitarre auch kein Problem damit, größere Räume mit spielener Leichtigkeit, jedoch vollkommen unaufdringlich beschallen zu können. Sie bietet damit schöne, satte Bässe und klare Höhen, schwächelt meiner Meinung nach aber etwas in den mittleren Frequenzen. Letzteres finde ich persönlich jetzt aber nicht so schlimm. Über den verbauten Fishman Sonitone kann ich leider (noch) keine Aussage treffen, weil ich die Gitarre hauptsächlich unplugged verwende. Sofern ich aber einmal die Gelegenheit finde, auf einer Bühne und mit Verstärker zu spielen, wird die entsprechende Beurteilung nachgereicht. Insgesamt ein wunderschönes Instrument, bei dem für mich einfach alles stimmt! Dazu noch die zügige Bearbeitung durch das Musikhaus Kirstein, die schnelle Lieferung durch DPD und die nützlichen Tips zur Gitarrenpflege, die zum Service von Kirstein dazugehören (und mir als "altem Hasen" doch auch wieder einiges ins Gedächtnis gerufen haben…) lassen mich als Neukunden definitiv wieder hier einkaufen!Andreas

This guitar sings great through its spruce top – sound as good as my old Martin, but at $650.00, I don't have to be paranoid and watch it every minute! Sounds great on a small amp for those coffee shop gigs. With light strings the upper register is as easy to play (on the comfortable cut-way) as the lower. What took me so long to get a Seagull! Says right on their website, "dedicated to bringing musicians great sounding instruments at an affordable price." – no lie!Dr. Ron

This is my 2nd Seagull. I bought an Entourage a few years ago and it has become my "go to" guitar. I have a Martin DCX1RE I've been using in my studio and while I loved its tone I was never crazy about the way it played. I've had some problems with my lft. hand strength and decided to try a Seagull S6 cutaway to see if it might work better for me. Right out of the box it played great and when I took it into the studio the sound was wonderful. While I still love the tone of my Martin, I equally love the tone of this guitar. It is full, rich and round with a nice "punch" thanks to it's tight grained spruce top and bracing. The electronics are straight forward and do a great job-the built in tuner is a bonus I'm growing to love. Cosmetically the guitar is beautiful-nothing fancy but the workmanship and finish are top notch. Truthfully there is nothing I don't love about this guitar.Ric

Awful, action too high so needed luthier to adjust truss rod. Strings cheap, frets not finished / rounded so they cut hands. Sound is like that of a cheap guitar. Very disappointing and cost $$$ just to get it playable.jaguarv120

Girlfriend bought me a Seagull Entourage Rustic for my birthday and I loved the sound and build quality of the instrument. I've since purchased several for family members and friends as as first instrument or a "step-up". Every site said the S6 was the perfect starter…meh! Only problem with the Entourage Rustic was the nut width made finger picking a chore. I decided to purchase an S6. Playing it in store…rusty strings and all…I could tell it was perfect for my purpose. It has enough space between the strings to allow my fingers to pluck away. I'm finally getting it to the point where the top is aging and the sound is becoming resonant, harmonically rich, and almost three-dimensional. The Entourage Rustic is a great Strummer but mine is now my permanent DADGAD guitar. I tuned it down a whole step (CGCFGC… right?) and have put the capo on the second fret. This allows me a heavier set of strings and the spacing at the second fret is wide enough for my fingers. I may replace the second fret with a stainless steel fret in the near future…as my version of a "zero" fret. Incredible guitars made to impeccable standards…yeah, they've won a fanboi. I've also purchased a Taylor that's nice enough. I just seem to gravitate towards the Seagulls. Leaving the Taylor in the corner.JohnnyScottish

I had a teacher who owned the old S6 model and I always loved the feel and sound of that guitar, it stuck in my head for years. I couldn't ever find one locally and I used to not trust buying guitars sight unseen online, until recently. I got a few less expensive instruments to test it out and was impressed w/ how perfect they showed up ready to play and matching the reviews in every regard, even the flaws. So I waited for the right coupon and bought the new and improved version of the dream guitar I always wanted and I'm so glad I waited and ended up w/ the new one because it's even better! The look is outstanding, mine is just like every picture you can find of one they are all perfect and uniform in appearance, some natural woods will have a lot of variance in grain and color, these all look the exact same. The sound is heavenly, this is where I feel this guitar beats it's predecessor and many other fine instruments like Taylors, Yamahas, and some Martins I've played. It has a very rich full tone and a shimmering quality to it's sustain that makes me think it just creates more natural harmonics and resonance than any other acoustic guitar I've ever played. I've been playing just over 15 years and have fooled around w/ at least 20-25 different acoustic guitars alone, I own 4 others aside from this one- and none of those can compare to this sound of this guitar. It can almost run you out of a small room if you're playing hard it projects so loud, and the resonance/sustain is unbelievable- as long as you can hold a note fretted it will keep ringing, when it starts to fade add vibrato and the sound comes back like it's hooked up to a amp w/ a lot of feedback. The most excellent tone and string spacing I've ever found for finger picking. It's just the right sound for an acoustic lead part w/ melodies and Travis picking because it's highs are higher than others. It feels perfect too w/ the semi gloss finish and that contoured neck, best acoustic guitar ever for the $.John

After new strings and a setup which all new acoustic guitars require depending on playing style. It's perfect. Sound and playability is great.phifan_24
