Its a little by chance what you get from mex. fenders in terms of craftsmanship and details. Mine has a little dent and a little gap between neck and body but it is sturdy. Fret work is not like americans. Tone wise and playability is good. I like the look of pau ferro wood. Neck shape is comfy not like 70s baseball bat p bass more like 70s j bass. The orange color is the reason i pick this one, fender changing colors every two three years so if you have this color in mind go for it. Much much better in real than pictures. Overall, if you need a good practice/little jamming bass its a good alternative. Instead of squiers go for this. I have sire as well, if you dont like/need active preamp simple is the best. Also, this new pickups are good, have good bass and midrange not scooped like some american pickups. One final thing, I've tried couple of player series before ordering this, some of them is not well at all in build quality. So, it is a little surprise what you get, check after you buy it and then decide to keep it or not. Have fun..
Purchased the Fender Player Jazz bass. Overall great looks and sound, but some quality issues from the Fender Mexico factory (not Andertons' fault): – First bass had very clear weird uneven blemish under the varnish on the sunburst body. Not awful, but if I was in-store I would never have chosen that particular item. Returned and swapped by Andertons, no quibbles. Second bass arrived. Overall happy, sounds great, but still a few issues with quality control and design. – Control plate was missing 2 screws and was moving around – how does that get through Fender quality control? Replacement screws sent free of charge by Andertons. – Nut has not been slotted correctly – high G must have been passed through a machine and slipped, string is clearly a couple of mm too close to fretboard edge and you can see the failed first pass. Doesn't really affect playability, but is annoying and I will get it corrected at some point. Again, points to poor quality control. – Fretboard (Pau Ferro) is really thin – on the Player series, at least. Neck fret dot markers in white are half over the mid-dark fretboard, half over the light maple neck. Very hard to see in low light levels. OK, so they're just an indicator for position, but the design isn't great. So overall, the bass sounds great and Andertons service was very good. …and falls in love. Let me start by saying I actually have owned one other P-Bass. I had a 50s reissue Precision, but honestly the neck was just too thick for my liking after years of playing Jazz basses. Honestly, it felt thicker than the neck on my Yamaha 5-string. So, I picked this bass up after always dancing around getting what would be considered a more standard P-Bass. I have a 70s Jazz with a ton of modifications, I've had quite a few other brands of basses, but I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I ordered this a few weeks ago, and have been very pleasantly surprised. The action was pretty good out of the box. I adjusted it a bit, made a few tiny tweaks to the intonation, and now it's super smooth. And, on the pickups, let me say it's a great sounding bass. Pickups are clear, bass sounds great. I play through a little Ampeg Micro cabinet. Earlier this week, I bought some Flats to throw on it (because that's what you do with a P-bass, right?) and now it's quickly becoming one of my favorite instruments to jam with. It really cuts through the mix when playing in a group. I see why folks really love the sound of a precision. My Jazz still has it's place, but man, I really like the sound of this bass. The Player P is a great value for what you get. I've never owned an older MIM, but I research the heck out of pretty much any purchase I make, and it looks like Fender really stepped it up with this rendition of their MIM Precision basses. Good tone out of the box, no discernible pickup noise, good action, a beautiful neck, and a Tidepool Blue finish that just shines and shines.Dennis F

It is amazing how a MIM can sound like thunder. You can get amazing tonal possibilities from this bass; full of punch and with a clean and crisp tone. The neck is very soft for fast playing; and the pickups are incredible. I also have a Yamaha TRB 1005, and a Spector Classic Legend 5 but this MIM stands among the others with power and authority. You can take it to church and tear down the walls, or take it to the local venue and crush the other band mates. You will never find a bass like this, with this features for that price. If you find one: buy it! I'm thinking about buying one more to convert it to fretless it. You will not get wrong with the Deluxe P series!mrfunkh

If you are tired of searching for a professional sound buy this bass. I hated the mim fender deluxe model, but fender did something special with this bass. It has a clear piano like quality to it. My two sire basses sound like toys up against it. I have wasted so much money on lesser basses. I'm just trying to help my fellow bass players out there. Everyone says that I sound good playing my other basses, but there are certain ugly overtones that I don't want to hear in my bass. This bass doesn't have those unwanted frequencies, it is voiced beautifully. I know that most of tone is in the fingers, but at the end of the day you know what you want to hear. If you are an audiophile this is the bass for you. I have spent weeks demoing this bass and no matter what amp you run it through it sounds good. I played it at a church last week and all I can say is it was nasty. My wife ordered mine yesterday for my birthday and it's suppose to arrive today, fingers crossed.Eric
I've owned and played bass guitars for 30 years now and I've owned several fender basses and the myriad clones out there of the J and P basses. That history and background left me with a bias against fender and an eye for other "better" production guitars like the Stingray which is my other go-to bass. That being said, I am blown away by this bass. It is a SOLID instrument with no flaws or blemishes that I can detect. It came from the factory with an almost perfect setup. I had to make a minor intonation adjustment on the low B and E strings but the string height, pickup height, and neck position were perfect. Fender's Ultra Noiseless pickups (a stacked humbucker really) sound great in passive mode emphasizing a fat bottom end and the tone nob adds a good bit of mids. The highs are kinda meh for me but the active switch takes care of that and I can get as bright as I want. The 18v active preamp provides a lot of room to boost or cut low, mid, and high frequencies to get just about any sounds I want (I still prefer my Sting Ray if I want to get real funky). This is about the best sounding 5-string I've had. Most 5-strings sounds great as 4-strings and SUPER muddy when you work the low-b string but this bass brings it out without too much mud.T. DeWees
I bought this base back in April 2022. It sounds great and plays great. However, the front pickup recently quit all together. After a tech looked at it, it was discovered that it was a bad front pickup. It was beyond the store warranty, so I took it up with fender. After 2 weeks of going back and forth between them and the store that I bought it at, it was determined that fender would send the pickup to the technician if my choice and they would fix it. But it would take 30 days because they send it directly from the manufacturer. Which still boggles my mind, because the slowest mail would be less than a week? So my opinion of fender customer service has dropped considerably. A working musician doesn't have 30 days to do without their instrument. This is unacceptable. I decided to purchase the pickup myself. I can get it in the mail in 2 days, and put it in myself. However this is a great base if you happen to get one with good parts in itJerry

As the headline says…it's very enjoyable to play. I've even made several recordings using it instead of my Fender USA Pro 2 Precision. It does a decent job on the P pickup; the J has lower output. To my surprise I'm really digging the "raw" feel of the neck; it's bare, tho sanded well. Another surprise: neck profile width and taper is like a J bass, yet the depth/shape feels more like a P! Huh!? Hey, works for me! With its black body and pickguard and the maple fingerboard it looks like it means BUSINESS! Point removed for the too-stiff tuner action. And then…I've managed to get the action very low, just where I like it. (FWIW, even on my USA Pro 2 I had to shim the neck to be able to get the level of low action that I prefer.) Yes, ladies n gentleman, I really appreciate this Affinity PJ. I am considering using it for punk and classic rock parts of the band's gigs; not out of the question at all!Leo
This bass looks, feels, and sounds great! Did they nail the bodywork and neck lines? No, not completely. But that's about as much as I've got for negatives. This is one of the best 5 string necks I've felt. Less pizza shaped than the EHB but almost that good. Could have been nice to see a heavier finish on the fretboard but the edges are rolled with no sharp frets at all – unlike my cv 70s P. Sound on this Destroys the EHB and my sr505. Can't say how road worthy the pots and tuners are but I don't want to change anything and mess with this mojo. Unless you need silent pickups and can live with the tradeoffs. I don't know what you would need other than maybe a beefier jack. Setup was mind blowing. Literally took it out of the box in store. Got home, string height was dialed, haven't checked intonation yet but sounds fine. Was hardly even out of tune. Strings feel quality, I will probably even hold off changing those. This bass is making a lot of basses look and sound like questionable decisions. If you are worried about durability, honesty, get a good hard case. This thing feels plenty solid. Make sure the tuners and string trees are greased up and jam away.Arturo
I got mine in Black body, black pickguard, maple neck with maple fingerboard, It came with good setup right out of the box, I like the headstock's face with large "Precision Bass" 70's style logo, with gloss tint on it. The maple neck is one piece neck. I have other Affinities basses but this one sounds terrific, a lot of growl sound on P pickups , I like the P sound but also the J pickup is welcome. I always like this combination: black on black with maple fingerboard. I recommend this bass, Squier is getting better and better with the years. The only complain with this is that the Jazz Pickup is less sounding than the P bass pickup, I needed to rise the Jazz pickup to get better output but not the same output than the Precision pickup.Garedot

Purchased the Fender Player Jazz bass. Overall great looks and sound, but some quality issues from the Fender Mexico factory (not Andertons' fault): – First bass had very clear weird uneven blemish under the varnish on the sunburst body. Not awful, but if I was in-store I would never have chosen that particular item. Returned and swapped by Andertons, no quibbles. Second bass arrived. Overall happy, sounds great, but still a few issues with quality control and design. – Control plate was missing 2 screws and was moving around – how does that get through Fender quality control? Replacement screws sent free of charge by Andertons. – Nut has not been slotted correctly – high G must have been passed through a machine and slipped, string is clearly a couple of mm too close to fretboard edge and you can see the failed first pass. Doesn't really affect playability, but is annoying and I will get it corrected at some point. Again, points to poor quality control. – Fretboard (Pau Ferro) is really thin – on the Player series, at least. Neck fret dot markers in white are half over the mid-dark fretboard, half over the light maple neck. Very hard to see in low light levels. OK, so they're just an indicator for position, but the design isn't great. So overall, the bass sounds great and Andertons service was very good. …and falls in love. Let me start by saying I actually have owned one other P-Bass. I had a 50s reissue Precision, but honestly the neck was just too thick for my liking after years of playing Jazz basses. Honestly, it felt thicker than the neck on my Yamaha 5-string. So, I picked this bass up after always dancing around getting what would be considered a more standard P-Bass. I have a 70s Jazz with a ton of modifications, I've had quite a few other brands of basses, but I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I ordered this a few weeks ago, and have been very pleasantly surprised. The action was pretty good out of the box. I adjusted it a bit, made a few tiny tweaks to the intonation, and now it's super smooth. And, on the pickups, let me say it's a great sounding bass. Pickups are clear, bass sounds great. I play through a little Ampeg Micro cabinet. Earlier this week, I bought some Flats to throw on it (because that's what you do with a P-bass, right?) and now it's quickly becoming one of my favorite instruments to jam with. It really cuts through the mix when playing in a group. I see why folks really love the sound of a precision. My Jazz still has it's place, but man, I really like the sound of this bass. The Player P is a great value for what you get. I've never owned an older MIM, but I research the heck out of pretty much any purchase I make, and it looks like Fender really stepped it up with this rendition of their MIM Precision basses. Good tone out of the box, no discernible pickup noise, good action, a beautiful neck, and a Tidepool Blue finish that just shines and shines.Dennis F

As the headline says…it's very enjoyable to play. I've even made several recordings using it instead of my Fender USA Pro 2 Precision. It does a decent job on the P pickup; the J has lower output. To my surprise I'm really digging the "raw" feel of the neck; it's bare, tho sanded well. Another surprise: neck profile width and taper is like a J bass, yet the depth/shape feels more like a P! Huh!? Hey, works for me! With its black body and pickguard and the maple fingerboard it looks like it means BUSINESS! Point removed for the too-stiff tuner action. And then…I've managed to get the action very low, just where I like it. (FWIW, even on my USA Pro 2 I had to shim the neck to be able to get the level of low action that I prefer.) Yes, ladies n gentleman, I really appreciate this Affinity PJ. I am considering using it for punk and classic rock parts of the band's gigs; not out of the question at all!Leo
This bass looks, feels, and sounds great! Did they nail the bodywork and neck lines? No, not completely. But that's about as much as I've got for negatives. This is one of the best 5 string necks I've felt. Less pizza shaped than the EHB but almost that good. Could have been nice to see a heavier finish on the fretboard but the edges are rolled with no sharp frets at all – unlike my cv 70s P. Sound on this Destroys the EHB and my sr505. Can't say how road worthy the pots and tuners are but I don't want to change anything and mess with this mojo. Unless you need silent pickups and can live with the tradeoffs. I don't know what you would need other than maybe a beefier jack. Setup was mind blowing. Literally took it out of the box in store. Got home, string height was dialed, haven't checked intonation yet but sounds fine. Was hardly even out of tune. Strings feel quality, I will probably even hold off changing those. This bass is making a lot of basses look and sound like questionable decisions. If you are worried about durability, honesty, get a good hard case. This thing feels plenty solid. Make sure the tuners and string trees are greased up and jam away.Arturo
I got mine in Black body, black pickguard, maple neck with maple fingerboard, It came with good setup right out of the box, I like the headstock's face with large "Precision Bass" 70's style logo, with gloss tint on it. The maple neck is one piece neck. I have other Affinities basses but this one sounds terrific, a lot of growl sound on P pickups , I like the P sound but also the J pickup is welcome. I always like this combination: black on black with maple fingerboard. I recommend this bass, Squier is getting better and better with the years. The only complain with this is that the Jazz Pickup is less sounding than the P bass pickup, I needed to rise the Jazz pickup to get better output but not the same output than the Precision pickup.Garedot

For a budget bass, the Squier VM Jaguer SS is surprisingly good. Mine was good right out of the box. The action was good, just needed tuning, and I was good to go. Even with the "cheaper", non-Duncan designed pickups that are available on the full-scale model, the sound is surprinsingly good. I really like the P&J p/u configuration. Much better than it's muddy-sounding main competitor, the Epiphone EBO (I had one). If the EB-3 was available in a SS model, the Epi would give the Jag SS a real run for it's money. Both SS's are an absolute blast to play. If you like a thin neck, this bass is for you. It's much more like a guitar then a bass. For me, there is no easier playing bass. But if you love the neck on a big old Fender P, then it probably won't be. Quality is very good too, considering the price. Don't let the Squier name scare you away. It's much better than an Affinity I played quite awhile ago. I'd say it's closer in quality to a MIM model, but not quite as good (a bass 3x the price!). Don't get me wrong, if you are a "serious" player who is gigging every weekend, and have the money for a more expensive bass, this would not be your main axe, that's for sure. For example, I had the MIJ Fender Deluxe Jaguar, and you can certainly feel and hear the difference in quality. Too bad that model isn't offered in a SS. However, if you happen to be low on cash, are a novice, have small hands, or are a converted guitar player, the VM Jag SS is a very capable gigging bass.Hardrockn
Squier has come a long way of real lame feeling, poor quality, and cheap pickups. The first thing I noticed right off the bat out of the box is that it was perfectly set up. Maybe toward the 12th fret down the frets might have a little bit of an edge but unless your a cry baby, this wouldnt bother you haha. Next, the pickups are pretty good considering you just bought a squier. It sounds pretty good with both on, and the bridge pickup is very musicman like when it comes to treble. The pbass pickup it'snt amazing but it sounds like a traditional pbass but without much body. The eletronics are what make or break this instrument. You have a volume for each pickup and a master tone. But the Bass Boost knob makes any "thin" sound you might experience into the house shaking from a full tone bass. Adjusting your eq as needed to have the mids stand out a little more and everyone can hear you loud and clear with the best tone you can get from this instrument. The Body is basswood, and coming from only using mahogany, it sounds kinda "brighter" as opposed to the dark sounding mahogany instruments. It's also not as heavy as other 5 string IMO. I personally replaced the pbass style pickup and added a delano one (required filing the pickguard) and play at Eb standard. My only complaint is that the human ear can only hear a note so much, so an open B string will have the note kinda "fall out". I use the B string at the 5th fret to have more notes to play in a given time. I recommend this bassradicalsurge
I'll never see 70 again, and I finally got me a bass. When I was giggin' back in the stone age with a three piece band i jumped back and forth between lead and bass lines on my 6 string with the aid of a bass booster pedal. My dream was a bass/6 string double neck ax, but at the time I could buy a new car for the price of one of those. Then I managed to get the index finger on my left hand shattered. Only cure was to fuse all the joints so it wouldn't bend at all, and now the only thing it's good for is barre cords. I could still play lead and chords with a little practice, but a standard base was out of the question. The price was right so I thought I'd give one of these short scale jobs a try. Yeah, I know, the Squires have a bad rap with a lot of folk, but this is my third one (strat, tele) and for the price I haven't had much to complain about. For my very first bass, right out of the box, I was totally impressed. Plugged her in, tuned her up, and ran the scales all the way from the nut to the 17th fret with no fret buzz or water to wade in; set up was perfect. A little string squeak at first, but that soon disappeared. Tried every bass line I ever knew and had no trouble with only three fingers on my left hand. The controls on the guitar are rather limited, but with my amp (Fender rumble 15) and it's EQ and overdrive features I've got just about everything I need – 50's and 60's rock and country – and can throw in a little heavy metal if needed. I'm thinking that this baby would be perfect for a young persons first bass, or for anyone with short fingers or like me missing a finger, or arthritis, whatever. I am sure having a lot of fun with it. I work in a 11 x 11 foot room , so the strings needed a little damping – a couple of my grand daughters hair ties fixed that in no time. I am absolutely loving this bass. I am a guitar player who wanted a bass for recording. I had been using a Squier bass but wasn't satisified. It just didn't sound and feel like Fender Precision Basses I'd played in the past. Decided to pull the trigger on this, and am so glad I did. It is significantly heavier and just feels much more solid. The fingerboard is fabulous. The back of the neck is so smooth and comfortable to play. The frets are perfect. Hardware so much better overall. Tuners much more solid…less tuning issues. And the sound is exactly what I was going for. It sits in my mixes so much better than the Squier bass was. And it is beautiful on top of everything. Can't recommend this bass enough.William
I purchased the Dakota Red Vintera Precision bass because I have been looking for that vintage feel and sound without having to mortgage the house. I wish I could afford a true vintage '58 Precision Bass, but the Vintera does not leave me disappointed. The first thing you will notice is it's beefy neck. If you are looking for a slim modern neck, this isn't it. It is the vintage "C" style neck with a wider fretboard which feels really good to me IMO. The gold aluminum pick guard really stands out next to the red of the body. The craftsmanship and finish is excellent; no fret sprouts or blemishes in the finish. The electronics are excellent with no buzz or crackle and the pups definitely have that vintage sound, particularly when the tone is rolled all the way off; you can definitely channel your inner James Jamerson and Duck Dunn. If you roll the tone back up it nicely brightens things up. I did have my luthier complete a set-up on it and I did change the stock strings with La Bella flats to further provide that old school sound. If you are looking for a bright modern sound then you may want to check out the Vintera Jazz basses. I play the bass through a Fender Rumble which allows this bass to sound it's best. Lastly, the tuners do their job well and provide stable tuning. This is an excellent bass and I have no reservation with recommending it if you want the old school feel and sound. I've been a Precision Bass player since I started playing bass years ago. This is my first "real" Fender bass however, after playing several different Squier basses over the years. While Squier makes great instruments at a fair price point, this Vintera Precision is like a different world compared to my previous basses. You can feel the overall quality of the parts, the fit & finish, and the materials just by picking up the bass and playing around on it. I received it in the mail almost perfectly set up by Music Store. Only the action was too high for me, but that was an easy adjustment. The bass has a wide, not too thin neck profile that is not very deep. Super comfortable to play. The nut width is slightly larger than on other modern P-Basses which is nice if you like the extra space. I really like the way this forces you to play a little bit different compared to a narrower fretboard, like for example on a Jazz Bass. The difference compared to a regular P-Bass is pretty small. You just get a feeling of more space for fretting. The fretboard radius is also a bit smaller than on a modern P-Bass. This makes for a very balanced playing feel in my opinion. These differences are all nice touches and make for a slightly different playing feel, but don't make it any harder to play than a regular P-Bass. The sound is absolutely wonderful. The 50s-style pickups have a slightly compressed sound that sound great on its own, plugged directly into a DI box or an interface. I replaced the factory set of strings with .045-.105 LaBella flatwounds which is a perfect fit for this pass. The low-mids are greatly enhanced by putting a set of flats on this bass. It sits beautifully in the mix and is never weak or overpowering – always perfectly balanced. The fit and finish of this bass is great. I'm not one to go looking for faults in the paint or anything like that, but I absolutely have not spotted any quality control issues with my bass. The hardware is absolutely fine and does the job. You don't get a massive bridge or fancy hardware here, because everything is done to vintage specs. You can, of course, modify these parts later on, but I really don't think that's in the spirit of this vintage-focused instrument. If you want to put a more massive bridge on the bass and modify it in other ways, I would choose a Fender Player Series P-Bass instead which is a bit cheaper – you can spend the difference on your mod parts. The bass is surprisingly light. If you have back issues or generally dislike heavy instruments, I would definitely recommend this one! The lack of weight does not impact the sound quality at all. The only drawback is that, in some positions, it can have a little bit of neck dive, not to a point where it really becomes a problem, however. I always wear a strap even when sitting down, and that takes care of the very slight neck dive very easily. One thing to keep in mind is that the hardware, specifically the bridge and trussrod, are truly built to vintage spec. This means that the string height adjusters on the bridge do not have tiny hexagonal screws but small slotted screws instead. You will need a very small slotted screwdriver to access these screws. The trussrod can only be adjusted at the base of the neck which can be annoying. You need to remove the neck in order to adjust the trussrod. Here, again, there is no hexagonal screw but rather a large philipps screw to adjust. Small minus points for these features that could have been left out in favor of more modern solutions. I guess the placement and types of screws used make it more true to the vintage specs, but I would much prefer if they had just chosen the modern versions instead. Overall, this is a very beautiful and great-sounding bass that I can only recommend if you like P-Basses, vintage sound, and flatwounds. The build quality is fantastic and I have no doubt that this bass will stay in great shape for a long, long time.

Almost 40 years of playing experience and this bass is by far the best value that I've experienced. I've had my share of Precisions, Jazz basses, etc. over the years up to the $1500 range. When the pandemic kicked in I had sold most of my equipment but decided I had to have one bass. The neck is solid and similar to a P-bass thickness which I prefer and I don't need a 24-fret, 2 octave one anymore based on playing blues, jam, reggae, and rock. The tonal landscape is phenomenal rolling off the treble or bass dependent upon what I'm playing. Bright highs and deep lows are easily accomplished. I'm a long time guitarist with some really fine instruments who decided to pick up a "value" bass just to learn for fun. Knowing what to look for in guitars, I translated that over to basses and went to GC to try some out, see what appealed to me, and how far I could stretch the dollars I was willing to spend on an instrument to start out and, maybe, stick with. I found this Sterling by Music Man Ray4 in mint green that filled the bill on all fronts. As usual, the guys at GC let me try several instruments and test to my hearts content. I do all my own guitar set-ups and would never buy a guitar sight unseen, being worried about how much adjustment might be needed. The Ray4 wasn't too bad out of the box (quite literally because I didn't like the display instrument and they had another in stock for me to try). Once home, I did adjust neck relief, string height, intonation, and pickup to a point that I liked best. The pickup required the most adjustment actually because it had gotten stuck in an odd and very high position, perhaps from being jostled in shipping. There is some fret sprout on the higher frets, but nothing that would bother my hand. Bottom line: Everything could easily be adjusted to where I really like it and has been stable now over several days. It's comfortable to play and is, in my opinion, a real "looker." The satin finished neck is great and, although I usually don't go for maple fret boards, I do like this one. I'm very pleased with my purchase decision and would buy it again. Love this thing! I had a problem with the sound on the first one but Musicians Friend got me all straightened out. The midrange sound was really quiet while the highs and lows were loud. They sent me a new one and took the return on the bad one. The replacement sounds great! I had a setup and new strings done by my local music shop and she sounds amazing. Intonation is now spot on. I love the look and feel of this one with all the rounded edges. Love the sound. She has a snarl in the low end that I haven't heard with any other company. I also own a squire 60s classic vibe p bass but i think i like the sound of this one better. My only complaint is that she's a little heavier than my Squire otherwise im super happy with this purchase. Thank you Musicians Friend for the smooth return and your amazing customer service. Love the sound of this heavy, neck diving beast. There's lots of tone to play with using the 5-way pickup selector. If played light enough you can avoid the fret buzz, of which is hard to get rid of with truss and saddle adjustments, but that can be said of a heavy hand on most guitars in general. The neck dive is severe like all the weight is really just the neck, but I don't notice it much when playing. It's just something to keep in mind if you play standing and lift both hands off the guitar to quickly adjust a mic or amp knob settings. The finish is kind of satin, as if it were printed on with an ink jet printer. It leaves the soft wood body pretty vulnerable to slow moving collisions against sharp corners. The Pre-Black Friday sale price on this guitar is a STEAL though! Definitely worth it for a Music Man bass sound for recording, or gigging if your willing to put up with the minor issues of weight and neck dive.Zach

I've had this bass for almost two weeks now, maybe a bit more. I didn't give my feedback befor today, since I would've given it less than a one. However, I waited for a reason. The sound is great, and I don't mind the sound of the stock pickups. It looks great, but that's trivial to me compared to the sound. Now here's a problem that few have mentioned. While some said, it's playable right out of the box, IT ISN'T. I got the bass in a pretty bad condition. Meaning, the action was too high, and the pickups were too close to the strings. It was virtually unplayable, even though I convinced myself that I could play it; which I did. But the pain in my fingers was indescribable, I almost got depressed. I changed my strings a week later to SH77 flat wounds .50 (heavy and thick strings), which didn't help initially. So I tried adjusting the action myself, but still wasn't enough. A day later, I sent it to a professional for setup. Now that made all the difference. I'm in love now. The strings sound amazing, the bass plays amazing, the feel is amazing, …. in brief it's amazing. Bottom line, have it setup by a professional ( unless you are a professional technician), otherwise you'll struggle with this bass. Unfortunately, the agent at MF mentioned that it's playable right out of the box, and I was naive to believe it. Anyway, live and learn. Set it up, and you'll already to go. I purchased a Sterling sub series stingray5 a week earlier and really wasn't happy so I went to return it. While I was there I was trying out some of the usual fenders that are in stock and just wasn't feeling it. Then, I noticed this one. I played it for 5 minutes and couldn't stop. It had the most comfortable neck I've ever played. After comparing it to a couple more expensive p bass options, this one was still the clear winner. The design may not be typical fender, and it's almost reminiscent of an Ibanez or a Washburn, but the ergonomic are like no other. Trust me this guitar is worth a shot. The tone is warm and growly. If you could imagine mixing the bass tone of the red hot chili peppers and the pixies, this would be what it sounds like.Chris
I got this bass recently and have to say its my go to bass for everything. I have a few others like a Dean which is nice, but feels odd due to its weight balance. But the Aerodyne sits well and feels comfortable. I think the tone of it sounds really good. Bought this in store so I got to test it out, action isnt bad. I did some innotating which only the E string needed it. I'm sorta new to bass, but I been producing music for 10 years. But being a new bassist, it feels great. I do highly recommend this bass. I've been using this bass for around 2 years now and its my first its an amazing value this and a 20 dollar amp and I was blasting off I used a tuner off of my phone the notes played really well and true it's been my baby ever since I got it. I got a case for it and its pretty easy to manage not overly heavy and not too awkward to take with you to a park or something like that. I had a bass similar to this, never played it and when I moved to another state I gave it away and regretted that later. I have always wanted to learn bass and bought this guitar because it was inexpensive and the reviews were good. I didn't want to spend a ton of money if I decided later on that I didn't want to continue with learning this instrument. Although I am just starting to learn the bass, this guitar is going to work out perfectly for my needs. It's a smaller sized bass but not too small. After the initial COVID lockdown I landed a gig where I had to have a 5 string bass. So like a red blooded American I took my cash down to the local GC store to buy a fender 5 string American jazz. There wasn't any. I looked for an Ibenez. There wasn't any. I looked for anything and we'll there wasn't any. As the date grew near for our first show, I happened in and they had this one. I was disappointed that this was all there was, but out of desperation, I bought it thinking I would trade it once something I wanted became available. It took me about two months and 10 gigs later when I realized I love this thing. 9 months in and I don't know how many dates later, I wouldn't want to live without it. It plays awesome after a quick and minor setup on the action. The tone is big on the bottom and the mids and highs are as shapable as you want. It is a dream to play and guess what, when I finally got to put my hands on the fender I wanted, I didn't want it anymore. This bass is very much like the high end Ibenez basses. Probably too much for Ibenez's liking actually. I run through a 800w mark bass head with a 2×10 cab and a 1×15 cab. It sounds incredible. The big thing for me is when I run through my amp using the direct out in bypass, it sounds amazing. It is like having a sans amp in the bass. The electrics are that good. I have gotten tons of compliments on the tone and questions about how I got it. I literally just plugged it in. Also I can play it all night and even though it is a five, I am less fatigued then when I play the four fender American jazz I already own. The string spacing and scale I believe is responsible for that. If you are serious about playing a 5 string, at any level, then this bass is one you should look at. I am not super crazy about the esthetics but I get a surprising amount of complements on it. So if that is your thing then rock on I guess. I am getting over the fact that I was a fender snob. Love this Jackson bass. Finish is first class and blemish free. the satin finish of the neck really does give it a smooth easy playability. doesn't have the triangle fret markers or logo on pick ups like more expensive models…and only one screw holding the truss rod cover in place… but this is where savings are made and the price kept low I guess.. The hardware… bridge, saddles and tuning pegs are all solid high quality… i highly recommend this bass to beginners and pros alike… OK… the BUTs.. out of the box… this model must have been rushed through control… the action was so low that that there was fret buzz across the entire fret board. slight truss adjustment and raising of the saddles easily enough sorted that out though…. It plays beautifully now but i would'nt have expected to have to do a full set up. AND…I also ordered a mic stand… this brought my total order to over 200 euro. The website VERY clearly states that orders over 200 euro qualify for free postage to Ireland… but after ordering, I was mailed to inform me that as it is a guitar…. and therefore large, I would have to pay postage…this isn't mentioned anywhere on the Musicstore site… very annoying indeed. So.. great guitar… but might need a little setting up and beware of postage charges.
My one only bass for the past 20 years has been a Ibanez SR405 (2001 year model). I feel like I've purchased a big upgrade with this Jackson X Series Spectra. In comparison to the Ibanez, the Jackson's neck is fatter, lower fret sizes are slightly wider and the string spacing is slightly wider. The playability is a lot smoother for my larger fingers/hands. The pickups and active EQ systems are powerful. Need to have some amp/di box control to contain the powerful output when in smaller venues. I use the passive pickup control when in smaller venues and small churches. I feel that what sets this apart from other basses I've tried is how great it sounds to play the d and g strings as well as going above the 12th fret. The stock strings (D'Addario) sound really pretty when playing the higher octaves. The Elixir strings I'm currently using give the B string a BIG SMOOTH THUMP. For those worried about setup out of the box, I live in high altitude. Setup post manufacturer is usually a must because of that. I have been able to get fairly low action without fret buzz after casually messing with adjustments.Zach

Cependant, un gros hic aux niveaux des micros qui sont tout bonnement mauvais pour le prix et la qualité de l’appareil. Si le potard de tonalité est un tout petit peu allumé c’est fini les micros ne feront que de claquer si vous avez le malheur de les toucher ce qui rend le jeu impossible…

Dimond anniversary Precision Bass what's not to like. I did receive the Guitar in a little ruff shape, however nothing I couldn't handle myself, I.E. Set-up was way out and I had to use a light rubbing compound in a cupule of spots. In comparison I got the 75th Jazz a month earlier, it was perfect. Both come out of Ensenada Factory, so I guess its hit or miss with that factory. AMS was as usual spot on with taking care of the problem, I believe that was my 4th Bass from them and it will not be my last.. I've had it for a month now and it plays LIKE BUTTER! Overall: I love the sound and playability of this wonderful instrument. My only complaint is with FedEx, they delivered a day late and at 10pm. they did not walk it up tp the door they left it in the middle of a driveway I share with a neighbor and left with no notification. I just happened to hear their door slam. I opened the front door as they left. I walked out to the driveway and stepped on the package because it was so dark. Mine came with a warped neck, body is super soft and easily dings,and finish as you would expect is consistent with most low cost cost Asian basses. Electronics also. Das die extreme Farbgestaltung des Basses letztendlich eine Geschmacksfrage darstellt, sollte bei diesen extrovertierten Farben klar sein. Ein Hingucker ist der Bass auf alle Fälle und für mich war die Optik auch ein Kaufargument. Die Verarbeitung des Instrumentes geht klar. Die ungewöhnliche Lackierung weißt keine Fehler auf und die Bünde sind wirklich exzellent in den Hals eingefasst. Einzig das Schlagbrett hat an einer Stelle einen Bruchteil von einem Millimeter Spiel, was wohl einer etwas hektischen Montage zuzuschreiben ist, aber nur auffällt, wenn man auch bewusst danach sucht. Die Einstellung des Basses war okay. Lediglich die G-Saite musste leicht nachjustiert werden, was aber beim Versand im Winter durchaus zu erwarten ist. Die Bespielbarkeit des schlanken und sehr angenehm lackierten Halses ist wirklich traumhaft und erinnert vom Profil her an die Ibanez Wizzard Hälse. Durch das roasted Mapel fühlt sich der Hals sehr resonant und steif an und auch die abgerundeten Ecken lassen spieltechnisch keine Wünsche offen. Der Klang des Basses, sowohl akustisch als auch verstärkt ist wirklich sehr gut und durch den aktiven EQ auch vielseitig veränderbar. Damit sollten so gut wie alle Genres abzudecken sein. Das Instrument hat einfach einen soliden durchsetzungsfähigen Grundsound der so bei weitem nicht an jedem Instrument gefunden wird. Nun die beiden Wermutstropfen: Zum einen ist der Bass alles andere als ein Leichtgewicht. Den ein oder andern Gig kann man damit sicherlich problemlos spielen, aber wenn man damit mehrere Wochen tourt und täglich auf der Bühne steht, könnte das für manche Schmalrücken zu einem Problem werden. Zum Anderen der Preis: 1600€ für ein MiM Instrument sind eine echte Ansage. Da muss natürlich jeder selber abwägen ob er bereit ist das zu bezahlen. Nichtsdestotrotz wird einem ein Instrument geboten, dass sowohl optisch als auch technisch viele Alleinstellungsmerkmale aufweist, weshalb ich über den (zu) hohen Kaufpreis hinwegsehen kann.

Das Instrument macht einen wertigen Eindruck und war als Ergänzung zu meinem 4-Saiter gedacht. Nach dem Auspacken eingestöpselt, und mich zunächst gewundert, dass die aktive Klangregelung kaum Veränderungen zeigte. Nach wenigen Drehungen an den entsprechenden Reglern, kam dann auch kein Basston mehr aus den Lautsprechern sondern nur noch ein Kreischen, so, als ob man mit dem Plektrum eine Saite entlang fährt. Ich gehe davon aus, dass hier die Elektronik unsauber verarbeitet war. Das Instrument ging leider zurück, da es ansonsten – soweit es bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt zu beurteilen war – einen soliden Eindruck machte. Die Soundqualitäten kann ich allerdings ob des beschriebenen Umstands nicht beurteilen. Ein Ersatzinstrument wäre vorauss. erst im Mai 2022 wieder lieferbar. Schade, hatte mich so gefreut …
Uno strumento davvero molto bello e con un suono notevole per il prezzo ma con qualche ombra… Appena fuori dalla scatola era insuonabile, action da culturista e manico da tiro con l'arco. Il truss rod mi ha fatto sudare freddo da quanto era duro, legno della tastiera non lucidato e veramente secco poi, con molta pazienza e con un bel pò di esperienza, sono riuscito a settarlo secondo le mie esigenze. Quindi, gran bel basso e gran bel suono (già con le corde di fabbrica) ma non vi aspettate uno strumento chiavi in mano.
