Fabulous sound from this cabinet, even when putting an Orange Crush 3 watt practice amplifier through it. Have also used with my 50 watt Marshall JCM 800 head. (customised with built I extra gain in 1993). Again, an amazing sound. The cabinet speaker is rated at 60 watt, so there's headroom with a 50 watt head. However, I err on the side of caution and don't go above 5 on the amp, bearing mind that back in the 80s & 90s I used to put this through 2 4 x 12 Cabs, (sold after kids came along) it has that much power! I may at some point purchase another one of these cabs, depending on volume level of the band I'm in the process of forming (first one after an absence of 27 years!) Paired this with a Hughes & Kettner TM-18 also purchased from AMS. The Celestion V-30 speaker is something I’ve used before and is an awesome speaker for a variety of tones. PRS just makes gear right. The cab is built solid. Cleans are absolutely pure and as you break up the signal the cab projects crisp. It maintains this integrity as you get to “11”. Considering the reasonable price, I decided to try this cab. I've been playing for about 40 years, but I don't have a lot of experience experimenting with different speakers and cabs. I had been told by many other guitarists not to bother with the new Celestion V-type because it is made in China, yet I just couldn't resist the price. I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised with this cab. I play mostly clean, and sometimes a little overdrive, but never distortion. The cab does sound evenly balanced across the frequency spectrum. For my taste and style, I prefer a bit more scoop in the low mids, and occasionally, the bottom end in this cab is a bit too soft for me, but that could be due to the depth of the cab and not the speakers themselves. I can't speak for how this cab would do with heavy metal or even classic rock, but there are certainly no frequencies that seem to jump out and make the cab sound notched. Also, I like the clarity of the mids. Luckily, I didn't get any mud from this cab, just a nice, smooth balance.sparrow

This is the best deal you will find for an extended speaker cab of this quality hands down! The Vintage 30 speaker on its own is nearly $150 at most places, making the cabinet so cheap for this unit that you cannot even build your own for less money. The cabinet is gig worthy and is wired for a parallel speaker extension…however the soft vinyl covering, which looks nice, could possibly damage easy over time (*one and only complaint). I am extremely happy with the build quality and the sound of this 12" speaker with the open back cab perfectly fills out a missing niche in my speaker stack. This EVH 2×12 cab sounds perfect with my EVH head. Small and doesn't take up much room. Just got it with a EVH head last month. solid birch plywood so it's not cheap MDF. The 12" 30watt Celestion anniversary speakers packs a huge punch. Would sound great with any amp head. If you're thinking about a high end 2×12 cab look no further.
This evh 2×12 screams! The build quality is superb and extremely high, the Celestions are super detailed and the sound is massive, I purchased a amp stand and threw this bad boy on it and now it stands at about 5 ft and half from the floor and it drowns out the drummer , I never really liked 4×12 cabs unless it was mic'd because live they sound a bit muffled since they sit closer to the floor, This 2×12 has a massive sound quality!Chris
Overall: Got this as I was tired of lugging a 4 x12 around as I play out a lot. If you own the 5150 EVH 50 watt then get the matching cab. It makes such a huge difference. This cabinet has really changed the sound of the head. Notes are so much cleaner and cuts through so much better then the blackstar 4 x 12 I was using. And it is actually way louder than my 4 x 12 or at least sounds like it mainly because how well it cuts through the mix. I have played 3 shows in the last 2 weeks with it. 2 of them the cabs werent miked and i was only on like 4 on the volume and this thing filled up the room with ease in a loud punk/metal band. Miked through a real PA and it sounds amazing. I have played my evh 5150 head through, marshall, orange, blackstar, and mesa cabinets and this is still the best sounding cabinet with the EVH head.Kevin

This is the best 12" cabinet you can buy at this price range. It's well built, looks good and sounds ok, but the first thing I did after playing it a couple of times is change the speaker to get the sound I was looking for. This cabinet comes with an un-branded, completely un-marked 12" speaker. It isn't marked as a Blue Marvel speaker as advertised. I suspected that would be the case when I bought it. The cabinet alone is worth the price, so that's why i bought it.jim7699
I realize some people complain about the Blue Marvel speaker it comes with, but it really sounds great with the cabinet. I play mostly small clubs, I use 2 of these with a Peavey head and works great. Tough, great value and does the job perfectly. Zero complaints. It's a Peavey. Good enough for me. There are better ones out there, but the differences are negligible. I'd be hard pressed to find someone in the audience who would say "but it's not loaded with a higher priced driver". That pretty much never happens in that environment. The amp produces some great sounds and this cabinet accurately does it's job. Why pay the extra $100 bucks for what only gear snobs say is better. Le plus, avec la même sortie, vous pouvez monter les potards à fond chez vous et avoir du vrai son dans votre casque. C'est vrai, le son est un peu différent entre la sortie ligne/phone et la sortie HP. Pour le prix c'est super. This is a very good 1×12 cab. You can't go wrong with a V30, and it songs great in this cab. The porting makes for a bigger low end than say my mesa 1×12, but not quite a defined as the mesa but still plenty good. Pairing this with the Mesa makes for a great combo, as this provides the low end the Mesa lacks. The cab looks great, and has help up respectable after 4-5 gigs with it. I have two small tolex tears that i repaired – not indestructible, but not really cheap or falling apart either. This cab has sounded great at gigs, my sound really cuts through since i've been using it in addition to a 2×12. I like the fact that it's angled behind the grill, so you still get a full size cab even though it's angled.

Mesa boogie recto 1×12 with vintage 30 i have two of these cabinets available with sequential serial numbers. i purchased them last year to test out a stereo rig. they sound great and are manufactured to the highest possible quality. as you can see from the pictures there's no damage to the tolex or leather corners, and the leather handles are in great condition. each cabinet is wired to connect in parallel to an additional cabinet using the built in connector on the jack plate. the jack plate is marked 8-ohms, however, the sparker is 16 ohms (see picture). this makes the pair operate at 8 ohms when connected together.

I picked this up for a Matchless lightning head that I just picked up. This is a better match than my matchless ES112 from 1999 with the Matchless version of the Celestion V30. The closed back really produces a very tight bass and I have to back off on the bass tone control. I play clean just to the edge of break up and this cab is very even across the frequency range. I was worried that the closed back might be too much on the bass end, but it is perfect with the lightning.Jim

I use this cab with a Vox Night Train 15w head. It is a little too bright with the stock speaker, but I was expecting that. I love this cab however, built solidly, tolex looks good and it seems like it will last a long time. I de-badged it, as I do with most things, and what is nice is that is only removing two screws and there is no glue. So it looks like just a generic cab. BUY IT! You may need a speaker swap for which I reccomend warehouse guitar speakers. I got the reaper HP to use with the night train and it made a HUGE difference. This cab is a permanent addition.The Beag

Pros: Yo, this cab is small! This cab is light! This cab brings the noise to the boyz all night!! Running the Little Bass Thing into this cabinet, and it is a punchy little thing it is. It gets loud enough for rehearsals with loud guitar and drums. It looks great too! I mean, you're looking at this specific cab for an orange aesthetic, and it is a beauty! Cons: Only one con really, and it comes with the territory. This definitely sounds like a punchy tiny little box, vs one of the bigger boys. It gets heavy bass if you turn up the bass eq, but ultimately, this is the sound you'll be getting, vs a 15", or any other larger that 12" variation. Punchy bass tone was what I was looking for, and it delivers with plenty of Orange flair!Kristian R
Overall: Purchased with the Little Bass Thing and it is a great, light, cab. Punchy, cutting, strong.I had a cab with an Eminence neo 12" and sold it, didn't like the hollow sound, had to scoop the mids. This cab is not like that, the Lavoce doesn't have that characteristic. With a touch of added bass and a small cut of the highest mids, I have a round, punchy, cutting tone. This cab can produce a lot of sound for the size, after playing 32 years I can carry my bass in one hand and this cab in the other, head in a gig bag on my shoulder, I feel confident I could have covered or surpassed any of the performances I had in all those years with all those amps.My preference is a 1×15" and the OBC115 sounds great, but at 65lbs that's more weight than 2 of these. I think a second OBC112 would fill out the sound, make it lower, but you won't have a problem being heard or felt in most rehearsals or stages with just one, it produces a lot of sound and punch.I only wish there was a Lavoce neodymium OBC115 similar to this cab to cut the weight, and stack the OBC112 on. That combo would vibrate pelvises & rattle ribcages.Richard

Paired this with a Hughes & Kettner TM-18 also purchased from AMS. The Celestion V-30 speaker is something I’ve used before and is an awesome speaker for a variety of tones. PRS just makes gear right. The cab is built solid. Cleans are absolutely pure and as you break up the signal the cab projects crisp. It maintains this integrity as you get to “11”. Considering the reasonable price, I decided to try this cab. I've been playing for about 40 years, but I don't have a lot of experience experimenting with different speakers and cabs. I had been told by many other guitarists not to bother with the new Celestion V-type because it is made in China, yet I just couldn't resist the price. I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised with this cab. I play mostly clean, and sometimes a little overdrive, but never distortion. The cab does sound evenly balanced across the frequency spectrum. For my taste and style, I prefer a bit more scoop in the low mids, and occasionally, the bottom end in this cab is a bit too soft for me, but that could be due to the depth of the cab and not the speakers themselves. I can't speak for how this cab would do with heavy metal or even classic rock, but there are certainly no frequencies that seem to jump out and make the cab sound notched. Also, I like the clarity of the mids. Luckily, I didn't get any mud from this cab, just a nice, smooth balance.sparrow

Fabulous sound from this cabinet, even when putting an Orange Crush 3 watt practice amplifier through it. Have also used with my 50 watt Marshall JCM 800 head. (customised with built I extra gain in 1993). Again, an amazing sound. The cabinet speaker is rated at 60 watt, so there's headroom with a 50 watt head. However, I err on the side of caution and don't go above 5 on the amp, bearing mind that back in the 80s & 90s I used to put this through 2 4 x 12 Cabs, (sold after kids came along) it has that much power! I may at some point purchase another one of these cabs, depending on volume level of the band I'm in the process of forming (first one after an absence of 27 years!) Orange cabs….sturdy. V30– nuff said. Built to last years of touring. Break in the speaker and you have the absolute best speaker on the market. Blues, rock, metal, heavy distortion, clean crunch- everything sounds amazing—- the sound that built rock n roll. The cabs are seriously built to withstand extreme punishment. I was looking at putting together a smaller, more portable setup and one i could use at home. Celestion Greenback speakers have been revered for a long time so thought id buy a cab equipped with one. This peavey cab is excellent. Really well made, sturdy, looks great, but more importantly sounds great with my marshall silver jubilee mini. Ive only been messing with them for 5 mins but can hear the speaker giving the sound real bottom end thump, while maintaining a nice clarity on the mid and high.
